High On Fire announce new album 'Cometh the Storm'

Iconic U.S. rock band, High on Fire , will release its new LP, ' Cometh the Storm ', on April 19 via MNRK Heavy. The GRAMMY Award-winning group, celebrating its 25th anniversary, recorded ' Cometh the Storm ' at GodCity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts with producer Kurt Ballou. The 11-song effort -- the band's ninth studio album -- marks the release of the first new High on Fire music since 2018's 'Electric Messiah' and the first to feature drummer  Coady Willis (Big Business, Murder City Devils), alongside bassist Jeff Matz , and guitarist/vocalist Matt Pike .

'Cometh the Storm ' is advanced by the lead track, "Burning Down", and a haunting, fever dream video, directed by Lars Kristoffer Hormander.

 “Burning Down” kicks off with a classic Pike riff,” says  Jeff Matz . “I think this song harkens back to the early High On Fire sound, but infused with fresh, new elements. It has a killer groove that you can really sink into. The body of the song took shape in our PNW rehearsal space, and we came up with the bridge/solo section and finalized the arrangement while we were at GodCity. Kurt Ballou’s input as a producer was also hugely helpful. His keen ears and fresh perspective were invaluable in making this album.”

THE HELLACOPTERS | Release Documentary 'Let's Talk Grande Rock Revisited'

Swedish high energy rock 'n' roll legends The Hellacopters have released a documentary called 'Let's Talk Grande Rock Revisited' in which they share interesting background information on the double album Grande Rock Revisited that's out today via Nuclear Blast Records! 

The insightful clip directed by Emil Klinta shows original members Nicke, Robert, Boba, and Dregen talk about the idea behind the revisited version of their classic record Grande Rock from 1999, and why they decided to release this new version as a double album.

Hailed by many Hellacopters fans as one of the band's best albums, Grande Rock hasn't been available to purchase on vinyl for over 20 years. This new edition of Grande Rock is available as 2LP, 2CD, and digital edition, all of which contain both the remastered original album as well as a revisited and remixed version with additional guitars by Dregen, plus additional percussion and piano and new backing vocal tracks. Swedish high energy rock and roll band The Hellacopters released their eighth studio album titled Eyes Of Oblivion on April 1st, 2022. It marked the first full-length since the release of their temporary farewell record Head Off in 2008, and was met with massive acclaim from fans and media alike. ENSLAVED | release 'Sequence - Live' single/video taken from 'The Otherworldly Big Band Experience'

Today is the Winter Solstice, a significant day in the Pagan calendar marking the symbolic death and rebirth of the Sun. In the Northern Hemisphere it is the single day of the year with the longest period of night, with the days after becoming increasingly lighter.

In celebration of this special day, left-field metal luminaries Enslaved are proud to reveal their single and video for 'Sequence - Live'. The track, which originally comes from their 2020 record Utgard, sees a live recording detailing a new interpretation of the song, with nuanced accompaniment by fellow psychedelic Norwegian prog band Shaman Elephant. This extraordinary performance took place during the 2021 Winter Solstice, via the stunning streaming event 'The Otherworldly Big Band Experience'.

It follows the acclaimed album Solace and previous singles "Oblivion," "Reflections,"' "Cravings," and "Haunted House."

"Radiate Me" is an introspective track about overcoming personal challenges and striving for self-improvement. The song's lyrics depict a battle with inner demons, using vivid imagery like a "pest plant" to symbolize life's negative influences. It's ultimately an anthem for those struggling with their inner selves, emphasizing the beauty of a life beyond personal turmoil.

"The last year was quite tough for me, as my mother was diagnosed with two types of cancer," says Robin. "She immediately took up the fight and underwent chemotherapy, which was extremely hard on her. I drove her to various hospitals time and again, took care of the household, and cared for her as a person. But primarily, I saw her suffer and what the poison of this treatment did to her. The chemotherapy almost killed her. 'Radiate Me' is all of that in one song. As it stands now, she is doing well and we all hope that it stays that way. Fuck cancer."

Northlane Share Video For New Single "Dante"

Australia's heavy music vanguards Northlane have shared their expansive new single, "Dante," out now via Believe.

"Dante" is the first piece of new music since the release of their #1 album Obsidian (2022) and signals a new era for the four-piece.

"Dante" is an instant Northlane classic years in the making and is dubbed by the band as "4D on steroids."

 "Dante" was originally written by guitarist and songwriter Jon Deiley as a pure dance track not intended for Northlane. The band spent a year developing the song to fit their signature sound, resulting in an emotionally heavy track carried by a compulsive beat that opens up to a panoramic chorus.

The striking lyrics carry a lot of weight, as frontman Marcus Bridgeexplains, "'Dante' is a song about losing someone close to us. As we try to process our grief, we are constantly asking ourselves questions, memories clouded with reminders of our loved one's pain, wondering if there's anything we could have done."

"Dante" was recorded with their old friend and revered producer, Will Putney right before Northlane set off on the massive Monsters of Rock U.S. tour with Parkway Drive in August this year. It's been close to a decade since they last worked with Putney on their breakthrough Singularity (2013) and #1 album Node (2015), and during that recording session, Northlane collaborated with some of the most influential artists in their history.

Northlane will debut "Dante" live on home soil in February on their first and only headline tour of the country in 2024. Featuring an absolutely jam-packed lineup of guests, including Erra (USA), Landmvrks (France) and Banks Arcade, and a second Melbourne show has already been added to meet demand.

Morgan Wallen Foundation & MLB-MLBPA YDF Donate $500k Each to Habitat For Humanity of Greater Nashville's Parkwood Ballfield Project

Academy of Country Music Male Artist of the Year Morgan Wallen, through his Morgan Wallen Foundation, along with Major League Baseball & MLB Players Association Youth Development Foundation (MLB-MLBPA YDF) and other local funders have partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville to lead the community revitalization of the historic Black baseball and softball complex, Parkwood Community Club, in north Nashville. Together, MLB-MLBPA YDF and Morgan Wallen Foundation have joined forces to donate $500k each, totaling $1 million invested in the project.
 
“I started the Morgan Wallen Foundation to support youth in two areas - sports and music. When I heard about Parkwood, right here in Nashville, I knew I wanted to help. Every child deserves a chance to play ball and be part of a team, and I truly appreciate this opportunity to be part of Parkwood’s next inning,” said Wallen. “I can’t wait to come back out here and see the park once it has been renovated.”
 
Access to sports transformed Wallen’s life in ways he never could have imagined growing up as a child in East Tennessee. Wallen’s first love was baseball and he had aspirations of pursuing a baseball career until an injury halted his baseball dreams and brought him back to music. Wallen credits team sports with teaching him the values and benefits of discipline, hard work and commitment.

Serving the community’s needs since 1966, efforts to renovate the Parkwood ballfields are part of a broader mission to maintain the complex’s historical integrity and rebuild the Parkwood-Haynes-Trinity neighborhood. Led by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville, contributions from the MLB-MLBPA YDF, Morgan Wallen Foundation, and many other partners support a broader $2 million-dollar fundraising goal to complete Phase 1 renovations of the complex, which entails renovation of two of the four baseball and softball fields.

The MLB-MLBPA YDF is a joint initiative by Major League Baseball and the Players Association to support efforts that focus on improving the caliber, effectiveness and availability of amateur baseball and softball programs across the United States and internationally. YDF has extensive involvement in the funding of field renovation projects in underserved communities to help revitalize existing baseball and softball fields, including the Roberto Clemente State Park in the Bronx and 100th Development Park at Reedbird Park in Baltimore, MD.

In the Metro Nashville area, more than 100 elementary and middle schools, and seven out of ten Metro high schools, don’t offer baseball and softball programs due to lack of fields. Located in Davidson County District 2, the Parkwood Community Club serves a predominately underserved Black/African-American population with the lowest median household income of Davidson County’s 35 Districts at $34,000.* Through the revitalization initiative, Habitat and its sponsoring partners aim to provide youth and families in the Parkwood neighborhood with enhanced field and recreational offerings.

"Heartless" owes its production to Justin DeBlieck (Ice Nine Kills, Motionless In White) and Evan McKeever while joining its predecessor as the second single mixed by Chris Dawson (SAUL, Any Given Sin) and mastered by Mike Kalajian (Bad Omens, The Plot In You). Dembek began her career at a country radio station in Boston during college, realizing very early on that the music industry was where she wanted to focus her efforts professionally. After securing a summer internship at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Dembek moved to Music City and never looked back.

After a few lateral moves, Dembek landed at Big Machine Label Group, where she worked as a strategic planning manager, helping established artists such as Florida Georgia Line, Lady A and Brett Young and newer artists like Shane Profitt develop their radio and marketing strategies. 

Dembek has now joined the ONErpm team, where she will focus on creating and executing release and marketing strategy for emerging and established artists by designing marketing plans, setting timelines, managing budgets and focusing on music streaming growth.

“I've always loved working directly with artists, particularly new artists,” she says, “so I’m very excited to dive in with so many emerging country artists at ONErpm.”

With Live in Rio, The Hollywood Vampires probably played their biggest and most legendary gig in front of more than 100,000 fans. The accompanying music video shows the sheer magnitude of this concert and the reactions that this song still evokes in people — even 55 years after it was written. Originally by the American rock band Spirit, Hollywood Vampires cover this classic in their very own way. Rocking, driving, and full of energy, "I Got A Line On You" seems revitalized and bristles with power. It's a three-minute track with hit potential.

In 2015, the Hollywood Vampires not only released their first album, but also played one of their biggest concerts, which will now be released as their first live album. After this success and the media interest in the ultimate rock group, sold-out concerts, and tours all over the world followed, and in 2019, finally, the second album Rise. Over 50,000 physical units sold, millions of streams, and worldwide cover stories in major magazines later, fans, press and the band were ready to bring these songs to the stage. Unfortunately, part of the tour had to be postponed due to the pandemic and will finally be made up for this summer. Fittingly, the first live album will be released a few days earlier on June 2.

Beyond the Gates Festival is now revealing its second annual Beyond the Gates Experience, which offers special guided tours in the heart of Bergen (NO) by some of the Norwegian music scene's own icons! These once-in-a-headbanger-lifetime experiences will be offered to fans during the festival, which takes place from August 2-5, 2023 across several historic concert venues in the city.

The experience details are as follows:

Black Metal Landmarks with Tore Bratseth

Metal legend and storyteller bar none, Tore Bratseth (Old Funeral, The Batallion, Bömbers) will take you on a trip to the outskirts of Bergen to show visitors a series of key locations in the Norwegian black metal lore. The trip includes stops at the Lysekloster ruins, where a series of legendary photo and video shoots have taken place, as well as the bunker where Euronymous was photographed for the “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” promo cycle. Another stop on the trek is the location of the original Os Rock Club where Mayhem rehearsed before the recording “DMDS” in Grieghallen, and also regular rehearsal place for Old Funeral and Amputation.

This trip will go by bus from outside of Grieghallen (Nygårdsgaten).

As respected musicians, Anthrax’s Charlie Benante and Butcher Babies’ Carla Harvey have spent decades touring the globe and amassing diehard fans who love to see them dominate on the stage, but their creativity doesn’t stop there. Both are also incredible visual artists and a new gallery show, sponsored by Monster Energy and produced by Punk Rock & Paintbrushes, presents their imagination and expressiveness in a whole new light.

 Dubbed “Charla-Palooza,” the one-weekend-only event will be held in West Hollywood on Saturday, April 15 beginning at 6 p.m., featuring appearances by both Benante and Harvey as well as DJ sets, a cocktail bar and the chance to buy original artworks. The gallery will also be open on Sunday, April 16 with a VIP intimate event from 12-2 p.m. with limited-edition prints for all attending, the Punk Rock & Paintbrushes coffee table book signed by both Carla and Charlie, an open Q&A with both artists and complimentary coffee. Both dates are open to the public.

Charla-Palooza comes after a 2021 show in Chicago, which marked Charlie Benante's first-ever substantial exhibition of his artwork. He’s notably also been behind every Anthrax album cover art the past 30-plus years. In addition to Anthrax, Benante is currently part of the Pantera reunion with several dates planned for 2023.

 

Carla Harvey is a cartoonist and illustrator whose work has been featured on the cover of Heavy Metal magazine. This event celebrates the release of Harvey’s10th annual anthology of art created on her tours, GASH 10. GASH is a yearly publication of Harvey’s artwork.

Hard Rock Veterans BLACK WATER RISING Release New Single “Hail Mary”

Hard rock veterans Black Water Rising have released a new song, titled “Hail Mary”, along with a music video! Preceded by their song “Jokes On You” from last year, the music video for the new track is premiering today exclusively via Ghost Cult Magazine.

"Hail Mary" is the fourth single from the band’s upcoming album, due out later this year. It also features original guitarist John Fattoruso, who rejoined BWR in late 2019. The video was once again directed by Tom Flynn (Lamb Of God, I Prevail). The new material promises to be more melodic, yet still as riff-heavy as BWR’s previous albums - featuring hooks and catchy choruses to pull you in, all while retaining a musical identity of its own.

Commenting on the new video, drummer Mike Meselsohn shares, "It was great working with Tom (director) again on this new video. Although it's strictly a performance video, he was able to capture the live energy of the band while still creating a visually stunning compliment to the song!"

Today, LIMP BIZKIT share the cinematic music video for "Out Of Style," directed by frontman Fred Durst and Marc Klasfeld. 
 
The video made its broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU, and MTV's Biggest Pop.

Durst and Klasfeld point to this Jimi Hendrix lyric when summing up the video: "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."
 
The song is the opening track from the band's sixth full-length studio album, STILL SUCKS. [Suretone].
 
The clip finds a deepfake assortment of "world leaders" together (Joe Biden, Vladimir Putin, Volodymyr Zelensky, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong-un), and even invites an appearance from "Mr. Maverick" himself in A.I. form. Meanwhile, the band throws down in a garage during a barbecue. There are all kinds of hidden Easter Eggs and deeper message — if you are paying close enough attention. 
 
The song and video are about unity, of course. Put aside the beef and let's focus on space, the universe, and what's next for us as a species.
 
For as many answers as it offers, there are just as many questions, but you'll have to watch it now.
 
STILL SUCKS will be available for the first time in two different CD configurations.
 
There will be a "Gold Disc" edition, which is a strictly limited-edition numbered run, and a "Silver Disc" edition.
