Blackbird Presents is thrilled to announce The Avett Brothers will headline their annual "Second Weekend at the Saenger" Concert Series during New Orleans Jazzfest. The show will open with a special performance from New Orleans music legends Anders Osborne & Friends featuring Dave Malone and other special guests, making this the must-see nighttime show at Jazzfest. The show is on Friday night, May 5, 2023, at the historic Saenger Theatre in New Orleans, LA.

Blackbird’s "Second Weekend at the Saenger" shows have become an essential part of the Jazzfest experience, carrying on the New Orleans tradition of keeping the party going into the night with legendary shows featuring superstar artists fused with the best local New Orleans musicians. With The Avett Brothers making their first headlining appearance of the series this year, plus New Orleans' own Anders Osborne and Dave Malone (with more artists to be announced), this show surely will once again be the can’t miss nighttime event in New Orleans during Jazzfest 2023.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, Feb. 11, at 10AM CT via ticketmaster.com. VIP packages, including great seats and exclusive event merchandise, will be available.

“Each year we set out to raise the bar in continuing our tradition to create the best shows in New Orleans and having The Avett Brothers along with Anders and Dave does just that," says Blackbird Presents Founder Keith Wortman. “The countdown to when we are back together in our favorite music city begins now!”

The Avett Brothers are renowned for their live shows, having perfected a blend of bluegrass picking, country harmonies and rock & roll energy (Rolling Stone). Three-time GRAMMY Award nominees and members of the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame, their newest album, The Third Gleam (August 2020), debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Americana/Folk Albums chart, No. 1 Rock Albums and No. 1 Vinyl Albums.

Between the potency of his richly detailed songwriting, his intensely emotional, soulful vocals and his piercing, expert guitar work, New Orleans' Anders Osborne is a true musical treasure. He is among the most original and visionary musicians writing and performing today. Guitar Player calls him "the poet laureate of Louisiana's fertile roots music scene," and New Orleans' Gambit Weekly has honored Osborne as the Entertainer Of The Year.

For more than thirty years, Dave Malone was best known as the guitarist/vocalist and one of the songwriters of the New Orleans band The Radiators. Dave also works with a variety of other musicians in and out of New Orleans including Raw Oyster Cult and Monkey Ranch as well as several of The Last Waltz celebration shows and tours.

This show continues Blackbird Presents’ annual “Second Weekend at The Saenger” concert series in New Orleans. Previous events include The Last Waltz New Orleans: A Celebration of the 45th Anniversary of the Band’s Historic Farewell Concert, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Nightsweats, Ryan Adams: Exile On Bourbon St., New Orleans Is Waiting For Columbus, The Last Waltz New Orleans: A Celebration Of The 40th Anniversary of The Last Waltz, Nevilles Forever: A Celebration of The Neville Brothers and Their Music, and The Musical Mojo of Dr. John: Celebrating Mac and His Music.
