Tape Room Music celebrates their 50th No. 1 hit as “Chevrolet” tops the charts at Country radio, co-written by Hunter Phelps. Maintaining their consistency in airplay chart success, Tape Room’s 50 No. 1 singles are in addition to founder Ashley Gorley’s 75+ chart-topping tracks.

Miranda Lambert Adds HARDY, Lukas Nelson, Jake Worthington & More to Oct. 5 "Music for Mutts" Benefit Concert

Having just released her latest critically acclaimed album, Postcards from Texas, Miranda Lambert will treat fans to a live performance of new songs and fan-favorites from her award-winning catalog of hits as she takes center stage on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville, Tenn. With the show kicking off at 7:30 p.m. local time, the woman known for being one of country music’s most beloved animal advocates has called on some of her favorite animal-loving friends and musicians to raise funds and visibility for shelter pets nationwide through her nonprofit, MuttNation Foundation. 

Music For Mutts, the 15th anniversary celebration of MuttNation presented by Tractor Supply, will see Lambert joined by HARDY, Lukas Nelson, Jake Worthington and very special surprise guests for a show that promises an exciting and fun-filled evening for a great cause.

Marked with their signature streak of rich, heavy stylistic experimentation, "the Cross" is infused by SYK's spirit of rebellion. The song starts by assuming the form of tightly coiled tech-death, only for the riffs to rear into a crushing, distorted groove. "I reject your holy ornaments", Stefano Ferrian growls before blackened melodic tremors and a concussive wave of blast beats bring the band to a deadly but melodic conclusion.    

"‘the Cross’ is a symbol of transformation", Stefano says. "Everything that was sublime in order to achieve a new mental universe".

The video for "the Cross" peels back the song's churning layers of production to reveal the beating heart of its creation – the band, in their most elemental form, locked into a chaotic but liberating rhythm. Here, within the flickering shadows and stark light, the raw, unadulterated essence of SYK’s rebellion is laid bare.

"This song is about leaving all the cancerous concepts we accepted and ingested from society in order to create something better for each creature existing on earth", Stefano continues. "Violence is for criminals and perverted minds. Organized violence is for Nations led by criminals.

"The rage that's put into "the Cross" is directed at all those leaders that are steering us to a quick destruction. Not just for ourselves, but also for all those creatures that has nothing to do with our unstableness."

SYK is a metal band that came into existence in 2013 when Stefano Ferrian and Federico De Bernardi di Valserra decided to embark on a new musical venture following the disbandment of their previous project, .psychofagist. They were soon joined by the immensely talented vocalist Dalila Kayros, whose vocal skills left a deep impression on the band during live performances.

In May 2014, syk released their debut album titled Atoma through L'Inphantile Collective. The album caught the attention of Philip H Anselmo from Housecore Records, who not only expressed his appreciation for the band's work but also offered them a deal for their second album. This second album, titled I-Optikon, was released on December 2, 2016, and was produced by Philip H Anselmo himself. The album was notable for its technical compositions that offered a unique and unparalleled listening experience, as Metal Trenches aptly described it.

Following the release of their second album, the band welcomed their long-time friend Marcello Cravini as a permanent member, taking on the role of the second guitarist. syk subsequently embarked on extensive tours across Europe in 2017 and 2018 and had the honour of being the official support act for GODFLESH during their Italian/Slovenian run in May 2018. Additionally, they also participated in the prestigious Roadburn Festival in the same year, further cementing their reputation as a promising metal act.

In 2019, Federico made the difficult decision to leave the band due to personal reasons, and shortly after, the global pandemic hit, disrupting the band's search for a new drummer. However, towards the end of 2020, Mauro Maraldo joined syk as their new drummer, and with their lineup complete, they wasted no time in entering the studio to record their third album. This album, titled Pyramiden, was released on March 11th, 2022, through Housecore Records/Nuclear Blast. The album's distinct and powerful character earned syk high praise, with MetalheadCommunity recognizing them as one of the most promising metal acts of the time.

Pyramiden received further acclaim when it was included in the ProgSpace Awards 2022 under the category of 'Album of the Year 2022/Extreme Prog Category', alongside esteemed acts like Fallujah, Allegaeon, Cult of Luna, and Conjurer. Unfortunately, soon after the album's release, both Mauro and Dalila had to depart from the band due to personal reasons.

However, syk, known for their sonic evolution, decided to press on. Founding members Stefano and Marcello continued working on their fourth album while actively searching for new members. Alan La Roca joined the band as the bass player, solidifying the lineup, but the search for a drummer remained a challenge. It wasn't until Federico Leone answered their call that the band found their new drummer. With the lineup in place consisting of Stefano Ferrian as the new frontman, guitarist, and main songwriter, Marcello Cravini on guitars, Alan La Roca on bass, and Federico Leone on drums, syk took on a new form.

In early 2023, syk caught the attention of Season Of Mist, who signed them for the release of their fourth album, eartHFlesh. This album not only marks the band's latest offering but also signifies their first decade as a band. With a reinvigorated sound and an intensified sonic progression, syk continues to captivate listeners and solidify their place in the metal scene.

The definitive zombie classic returns to both Theatres and Drive-Ins for screenings across the U.S. and Canada from April-May, 2024, with very special official anniversary collectables coming from FRIGHT-RAGS and ISH!

The North American gala premiere of 'Dawn of the Dead' took place on April 12, 1979 at the Gateway Theatre in downtown Pittsburgh. The film began the official U.S. theatrical launch the following day, eventually rolling out across the country. To honor this special milestone, New Amsterdam Entertainment Inc.® is making the movie available again in theatres & drive-ins for coast-to-coast screenings starting April 12, 2024 and running through to the end of May!

With special assistance from United Drive-In Theatre Owners Association, for the first time in decades, many fans will be able to watch 'Dawn of the Dead' under the stars at several ozoners like the classic Midway Drive-In in Sterling, IL, and at a special Exhumed Films event at the world famous Mahoning Drive-In in Lehighton, PA!

The mighty Alamo Drafthouse will be fulfilling thousands of audience requests by unleashing it into 34 of their cinemas across the country and die-hard fans will finally be able to again watch the movie in its premiere city of Pittsburgh, this time at the Row House Theatre!  The film will be screened all across North America in historical venues including places like the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville, PA, where the original version of 'The Blob' was filmed in 1958! 

Meanwhile, The Music Box Theatre in Chicago will present special single showings of both the 2-D and 3-D editions later in May! Stereoscopic fans will also be able to catch it in 3-D at the Galleria Mall in St. Louis, MO, where hopefully they won't have to hunker down to survive a zombie apocalypse! St. Louis is not the only city that is taking the film back to its primary setting; through special arrangement, Cinemark Theatres will be exclusively presenting 'Dawn of the Dead' for One-Night-Only on Friday April 12th...at the MONROEVILLE MALL!

Fans can look forward to even more from Self Deception, as they announce their upcoming album Destroy the Art, set to drop later this year.

As one of the more popular hard rock vocalists in the genre, NYC native Ray West’s distinctive and powerful vocal style defined a niche that he has reigned in for the last 3 decades. The show will also serve as a really big homecoming weekend in Ft. Lauderdale. Ray was in a band called Defiance in South Florida in his late teens, and he was truly a beloved local legend before he went off to join Spread Eagle in New York. 

"SupaFly's music is on the heavier side," explains West. "It’s got an urban groove, emotionally-charged lyrics that come from a place of strength, and much vulnerability. And since I’m an open book, that’s cool with me.” 
 
SupaFly released a cover of the KC and The Sunshine Band classic “I’m Your Boogie Man” for Halloween, and immediately connected with fans (with the song's video getting over 30K views upon release). This was followed up by one of Ray’s most personal tracks, “Hypothermia”, about a talented musician with dreams of stardom, who ultimately becomes disillusioned with the life he’s chosen.  The accompanying lyric video finds Ray hitting his old stomping grounds – including a stop by the iconic Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ.
 
'The Vibe' drops the night after West and Spread Eagle perform at the very same venue, fresh off the Monsters of Rock 2024 appearance. West is excited to be able to play these shows in a place he has called home on and off for much of his life.

About Gvllow

GVLLOW's sound is an eclectic tapestry woven from the rich influences of '80s new wave, SoCal punk rock, and the iconic beach sounds of legends like Dick Dale and The Beach Boys. Born and raised in the vibrant punk scene of Riverside, California, he began his musical journey playing drums and immersing himself in the local live music scene, absorbing the energy and ethos of acts like Dr. Know and TSOL.

"Some Assembly Required" is a collaboration project conceptualized by Josh Villalta and Nita Strauss, combining some of the top guitarists in the world to do something incredibly special in tribute to this once-in-a-lifetime musician — Jason Becker.

Utilizing an unreleased demo of Becker's, Strauss, along with Zakk Wylde, Steve Vai, Chris Broderick, Phil Demmel, Jennifer Batten, and many more, came together, lending their hearts and souls into what's become an unforgettable, unmissable display of guitar mastery.

"Some Assembly Required" has quickly turned into a powerful display that is equal parts a six-string love-story and a call for action for us all to take a closer look at what can be done to help others suffering from the same degenerative disease that took hold of Becker.

 "The original idea Josh put forward was to to work together on a song for my own album," Strauss shares. "We poured through lots of Jason's demos until we landed on this track, which was originally recorded with Gregg and Matt Bissonette. However, as the idea materialized, we realized this could be a much bigger project and more importantly, have a bigger impact to help Jason raise awareness and funds. From there, it took on a life of its own! The incredible Billy Sheehan came down to the studio and played bass, and we reached out to tons of Jason's friends and peers, from all genres and eras, and amassed an army of friends to trade solos on this track. We left Jason's original demo solo where it was, where it shines to this day alongside so many of the players that love and look up to him. We were able to send this video to Jason on Christmas Day and bring some holiday cheer to him and his family! He loved it and christened it with the name we have today — 'Some Assembly Required.'"

For those who may not know of Jason Becker's legacy, we'd have to travel back to 1985 when 16-year-old guitarist, Becker, partnered up with Marty Friedman as the duo Cacophony. His success at such an early age was no coincidence, his metal mastery becoming a talking point amongst his peers, going on to support some of the biggest names in rock including David Lee Roth and create some huge guitar moments as a solo artist.

As Becker's career began to blossom, Jason was diagnosed with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease) in 1989 — at just 20 years old. As the disease progressed, Jason no longer could hold on to the instrument, but the urge to continue pushed on as he, amazingly, engineered his own way of writing music, a technique using "eye geometry" and chin movements, described further in the documentary on Becker's journey.

KORPIKLAANI - Release Brand New Single & Video, 'Aita'

Finnish folk metal superstars KORPIKLAANI are happy to unleash 'Aita', the second single from their upcoming new studio album, Rankarumpu, which is due to be released on April 5th, 2024. 

'Aita' keeps up the full-speed ahead approach from the previous single, 'Saunaan'. The dizzying pace, a catchy chorus and a masterful violin/accordion duel make 'Aita' an absolutely irresistible tune that bears all trademarks the Finns are universally known and loved for. Folk metal at its best!

Composer Olli Vänskä commented: 
"'Aita' was actually composed as an instrumental track, or that was at least the intention. I sent a demo version to Jonne and when I was asking about it a week later, he told me "hell no!" and gave me the lyrics he wrote. And good lyrics, too! I'm very satisfied about the violin riff and how the folk interlude turned out as well. Lots of interesting stuff happening there!"

Front man Jonne Järvelä added:
"I got a very cool demo song from Olli to which I riffed with a guitar. Then a theme started to form in my head that I transformed into a song which was easy to write words to. 
In the lyrics, the main person meets an old familiar village man who has been on the road as journey man for a long time and returns to his home village. The man asks his friend all sorts of questions about what he has seen around the world, but the journey man only answers vaguely, but with wise lessons."

About Blame My Youth:

Lightning rarely strikes the same place twice, especially in the music industry. There are exceptions, though, and Sean Van Vleet is one of them. He formed Blame My Youth in 2020—a move that was solidified when the band’s first single “ Right Where You Belong” was selected as the closing credits theme on the GRAMMY-nominated soundtrack of Bill & Ted Face the Music . 

As if that wasn’t impressive enough, follow-up single “Fantastic” picked up millions of streams and hit the Top 30 on the Active Rock radio charts. Their 2023 single “Prizefighter” rode high on US Alternative radio and their most recent single, “The Break” officially hit the airwaves earlier this week. It’s an incredible start that demonstrates just how well Van Vleet’s songs connect with people. 

That all came after a prolonged period when, following the demise of his previous band Empires, Van Vleet was writing a lot for other artists (All Time Low , Oliver Tree, PVRIS)—as well as over 200 songs in TV shows, high profile ad campaigns and video games—but rarely for himself. That changed when he began working closely with Billboard Top 100 Producer of 2023 (and Big Loud Rock co-founder) Joey Moi. Whereas before their working relationship was divided strictly between songwriter (Van Vleet) and producer (Moi), in the studio one day the pair inadvertently began writing together and realized how much they loved the process. The result was “The Break ”—the first of a number of songs Van Vleet and Moi have written together. Though infectious and upbeat, it’s also much more vulnerable and heart-torn than anything he’s ever made before, and signifies the start of what Van Vleet considers a brand new chapter for Blame My Youth. 

With 18 million cross-catalog streams and 9 million YouTube views to date and a debut album on the way later this year, it’s only going to get better and bigger for Blame My Youth from here.

A new generation of thrash metal youngsters has risen from the ashes of a club of titans like Slayer, Exodus, Kreator, and many more. Greek ambassadors supreme Suicidal Angels are one of the most jaw-dropping representatives of the injection of new blood. At the dawning of this coming spring, this four-piece of energetic thrashers will release their eighth studio album Profane Prayer four years after their previous attack Years Of Aggression. It marks their return to the Nuclear Blast family. ‘It feels like a homecoming’ confirms composer Nick Melissourgos (vocals, guitars) who started the band in 2001 when he was 16 years old.

Suicidal Angels went through a step-by-step development since their humble start in 2001. Not earlier than in 2007, they entered the studio to record their striking debut album Eternal Domination which caused a stir in the Hellenic scene. They were invited by Sakis Tolis of Rotting Christ to do their first EU tour. This was only the beginning of a long era of growing popularity. Another milestone was supporting Kreator, resulting in a long-time friendship with Mille Petrozza. In 2010 Suicidal Angels even opened up for the Big Thrash 4 in Athens at Sonisphere and at the beginning of 2014, they finally undertook their first independent headline tour throughout Europe. Every two years they released new albums, continuing to tour widely. In the meantime, they conquered Asia, South America, and Europe and there is more to come.

Magnolia Music Group has hired industry veteran JC Coffey in a newly created role as Director of Audience Platforms, which will combine his experience in radio promotion, syndication strategy and DSP relations. Coffey will report directly to VP of Promotion, Heather Propper. Previous stops for Coffey include Big Machine Records and Show Dog Records.

Magnolia is home to country star Randy Houser, who is coming off a whirlwind 2023 that included a headline tour, two feature film appearances (Killers of the Flower Moon and The Hill) and the release of his song “Cancel.” Houser has multiple soon-to-be-announced music releases slated for 2024.

NYC's Otherworldly Things release striking 'Heavy Dream Cycle' EP via Magic Door Record Label

NYC rock outfit Otherworldly Things presents their 'Heavy Dream Cycle' EP, an irresistible 5-track offering released via Montclair, NJ-based Magic Door Records. This comes hot on the trail of the lead single 'Time Turns To Memories', a song inspired by old photo albums, missing loved-ones, and missed opportunities to better know your family.

Formed in 2014, Otherworldly Things would deliver their debut concert in great company, opening for Buzzcocks at New York City's Irving Plaza in April 2015, even before releasing their debut album. This four-piece is made up of Jim Browne(guitar, lead and backing vocals, violin), Matt Revie (guitar, keyboards, glockenspiel), Jason Binnick (bass, backing vocals, keyboards, cello) and Travis Harrison (drums, percussion).

It's been a few years since the band's first full-length album 'Beeline to the A-List', released in 2017 with some of the material recorded at Brooklyn's legendary BC Studio, run by Martin Bisi, Like many artists, Covid and its lockdowns put a dent in any tangible plans for the band. Additional material was recorded by bassist Jason Binnick and former drummer Kevin Hudson, who ended up moving out of New York during the pandemic. The band ultimately went on hiatus... until now..

As the world began to return to normal, Jim Browne spearheaded the effort to record new material at Serious Business Records in Brooklyn with Travis Harrison (Guided By Voices, Built To Spill), who also joins the band on drums and percussion, adding some notable pizzazz. This EP was mastered at Listen Up Studios by Jamal Ruhe (Guided by Voices, Phoebe Bridgers, Death, Jimmy Eat World, Misfits).

"I wrote 'Tired of Monsters' in 2020 when you couldn’t turn on the news without seeing one form of monster or another. I wrote 'No Use' shortly after. We first recorded those two songs, along with 'Work Out Right', which I had written much earlier. On this song, I play a repeated note on the very violin that my grandfather bought with him when they moved from Ireland to Harlem in 1926," explains Jim Browne.    

"Having just three songs recorded, I thought to myself that this is neither a single nor EP. Then I wrote 'Time Turns to Memories', a big sounding recording that we pulled out all the bells and whistles for. I had the song 'Escape' kicking around for a long time. I recorded it live to tape at Jason’s and said it needs some ambient noise added. Jason picked up a cello, which I didn’t even know he owned and laid down a great track.  That’s when I knew we had a complete and really good EP."
