Real talk... The Young Fables

The holiday season is here, and while it brings joy and celebration for many, we also recognize that for some, it’s the most difficult time of the year. The colder weather, the early sunsets, and the quiet of the season can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when it’s hard to shake off the weight of everything we've been through.

As we reflect on the year, we understand that not everyone has had an easy one. For some, it may feel like a year they wish they could forget. We miss the loved ones who are no longer with us, and in these quieter moments, if we aren't mindful, our mental health can begin to slip.

We just wanted to take a moment to reach out to all our fighters out there. If this time of year is tough for you, please know that you’re not alone. We're thinking of you and sending love and strength your way.

Recently, we took some time to record a special version of our latest single "Good At Hurtin" in a home studio. We created it with those who might be facing a tough time this season in mind.

Your hearts are on our minds and your minds are in our hearts.

Stay strong and continue on. You got this.

THE YOUNG FABLES SIGN A NEW PUBLISHING DEAL WITH BMG

The award winning duo The Young Fables have signed a new publishing deal with BMG. Laurel Wright and Wes Lunsford’s vulnerable approach to musical storytelling coupled with their whimsical yet unmistakable blend of Country with Folk/Pop has helped them break out in the music scene.

“Authenticity and emotion can be hard to find. Laurel and Wes combine it with grit and determination. Laurel's vocals pull you into every word, while Wes’s harmony and guitar complete the story. I am so excited to begin this journey and introduce you to The Young Fables,” says Chris Oglesby, VP, Publishing, BMG Nashville.

In October, The Young Fables will unveil their fourth studio album, Short Stories, hosting a record release show at the Basement East in Nashville, TN on October 20th. In addition, they recently released their feature documentary “The Fable of a Song”, which clinched the Nashville Film Festival’s Audience Choice Award. To purchase tickets to their record release show or view the documentary, visit the duo’s official website: www.theyoungfables.com.

“BMG has been an inspiration to us. Chris Oglesby and the team have embraced us wholeheartedly and we’re excited to learn from their experience and their forward-thinking approach to publishing. We truly value their dedication and unwavering focus on supporting artists and are happy to call BMG a new member of our musical family,” says Laurel Wright and Wes Lunsford of The Young Fables.

About The Young Fables

The Young Fables (TYF) create music with classic storytelling weaved into Country music with pop sensibilities. East Tennessee (Maryville) natives, Laurel Wright and Wes Lunsford are influenced by timeless treasures like Patsy Cline, Bonnie Raitt, Glen Campbell and Chet Atkins. The duo’s unique sound has resonated with audiences around the globe as live performances have become stages from which The Young Fables discuss themes and topics typically saved for the therapy couch. Strong advocates for mental health awareness, The Young Fables are focused on helping to erase the stigmas surrounding the topic. Recognizing the duo’s advocacy, the pair were honored with The Troy Gentry Compassion Award in 2021 for compassion, commitment, kindness and love.

Their whimsical yet unmistakable blend of Country and Pop has garnered praise from industry icons and tastemakers. Nine-time GRAMMY® Award winner Sheryl Crow once tweeted, “Laurel’s as good as any country singer out there!” Their releases have earned them recognition, including a spot on Rolling Stone's "10 Best Country and Americana Songs of the Week." They have also had the privilege of supporting artists such as Vince Gill, Amy Grant, and Rascal Flatts, as well as being invited by multi-platinum songstress Shania Twain to participate in the USA Network’s showcase celebration Real Country. Twain praised, “Wes is a perfect partner for Laurel’s voice. I fell in love with these guys as genuine, authentic talents.” Travis Tritt added, “Our industry needs (TYF) right now!” In September of 2023, the duo was honored as BMI & Texas Roadhouse’s Artists of the Month, resulting in their music videos being showcased in locations across the United States.

The Young Fables continue to grow their team recently inking a publishing deal with BMG. In October 2024, Wright and Lunsford will unveil their fourth studio album, Short Stories, alongside their feature documentary 'The Fable of a Song', which clinched the Nashville Film Festival Audience Choice Award. “Each album we release serves as a journal entry for us, and Short Stories represents the next chapter,” Wright explains. “We feel fortunate to have a platform to share our music and are grateful that our story resonates with others, aiding in their healing. That’s a reward unlike any other.”
