ABOUT KREATOR

Decades into their game-changing career, German metal legends Kreator find themselves more successful and influential than ever. They’ve stuck to their guns, weathered the trends and outlasted their peers – never once wavering from the ferocious noise that excited them as teens. If anything, that thirst for sonic warfare is just as strong, if not stronger, today. Where others have suffered from creative malnourishment and artistic uncertainty, something which even metal’s biggest and best are prone to, Kreator have always charged full steam ahead – thanks to the red-eyed conviction and fearless determination of founding singer and guitarist Miland ‘Mille’ Petrozza. On 1985 debut Endless Pain, the Essen innovators created the template for extreme noise to come, fusing elements of thrash and black metal in ways that had never been heard before. Their sophomore album of the following year, Pleasure To Kill, became one of the landmark albums of 1986 – making metal history alongside key releases from Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth. And onwards they marched, bringing hellish anthems to the masses in every album that followed, with a track record few could ever rival.

The last decade has been a particularly exciting time for the group, with 2012’s Phantom Antichrist proving how they could embrace modern production techniques and move with the times without forsaking the underground spirit and defiance which made them a household name in the first place. Its successor, 2017’s Gods Of Violence, saw them topping the German charts for the very first time in their career, a feat virtually unheard for a band of such thunderous intensity.

They returned in 2022 with fifteenth opus Hate Über Alles – which marked their first studio album with Frédéric Leclercq (ex-Dragonforce, Sinsaenum) on bass, joining Mille, guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö and drummer Jürgen ‘Ventor’ Reil – the metal titans are once again channelling an unholy heaviness strong enough to tilt the earth off-axis.

Fans can relive the mayhem and massive circle pits that erupted throughout the night, showcasing the raw energy that only KREATOR and their Chilean Hordes can command.

About POSSESSED

POSSESSED heralded as the first official death metal band was formed in 1982 and established the face of the genre permanently. There was a time in which genuine power was felt erupting from the sonic landscape that is now referred to as “old school” death metal. As with most newly developed forms of art, at its genesis, it was filled with fresh and vibrant energy and was virtually unsaturated by musicians.

* SEPULTURA Closing

The time has come! Shadows loom over North America with an ominous silence hanging in the air as heaven and hell alike prepare to witness: “Klash Of The Titans.” German thrash legends KREATOR have joined forces with Brazilian metal giants SEPULTURA for an unrivaled North American co-headline tour in May and June of 2023.

Since the mid-80s, the two bands have shaped heavy music like few others by always sticking to their ferocious guns. At the same time, they’ve never shied away from re-inventing themselves: going from strength to strength and leaving a path of scorched earth in their trailblazing wakes. With new albums Hate Über Alles and Quadra towering strong at the peak of their respective discographies, these Titans are truly standing taller than ever in 2023.

KREATOR’s Mille Petrozza states, ‘I’m really happy to be back in the US this May with the mightiest of all…SEPULTURA. A new ‘Klash Of The Titans’ partnership and an absolutely stacked bill from start to finish. I’m looking forward to checking out SPIRITWORLD live – a great new band with big riffs. Plus sharing the stage with the legendary DEATH ANGEL. Awesome! Can’t wait…see you in the pit!’

SEPULTURA’s Andreas Kisser adds: “I’m very excited to be back in North America with our friends and my personal idols Kreator! They were a very strong influence in our early days, and it’s great to see they are stronger than ever, which is how I feel with SEPULTURA as well. It's going to be a historical run. Thrilled to have our brothers from DEATH ANGEL and the awesome SPIRITWORLD with us. Do not miss this, metal is alive and well, so let’s celebrate ‘Klash of the Titans North America 2023’ on the road! See you all soon!“

ABOUT KREATOR
Decades into their game-changing career, German metal legends KREATOR find themselves more successful and influential than ever. They’ve stuck to their guns, weathered the trends, and outlasted their peers – never once wavering from the ferocious noise that excited them as teens. If anything, that thirst for sonic warfare is just as strong, if not stronger, today. Where others have suffered from creative malnourishment and artistic uncertainty, something which even metal’s biggest and best are prone to, Kreator has always charged full steam ahead – thanks to the red-eyed conviction and fearless determination of founding singer and guitarist Miland ‘Mille’ Petrozza. On 1985 debut Endless Pain, the Essen innovators created the template for extreme noise to come, fusing elements of thrash and black metal in ways that had never been heard before. Their sophomore album of the following year, Pleasure To Kill, became one of the landmark albums of 1986 – making metal history alongside key releases from METALLICA, SLAYER, and MEGADETH.

Its successor, 2017’s Gods Of Violence, saw them topping the German charts for the very first time in their career, a feat virtually unheard of for a band of such thunderous intensity.

They returned this year with the fifteenth opus Hate Über Alles – which marked their first studio album with Frédéric Leclercq (ex-DRAGONFORCE, SINSAENUM) on bass, joining Mille, guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö and drummer Jürgen ‘Ventor’ Reil – the metal titans are once again channeling an unholy heaviness strong enough to tilt the earth off-axis.

Assorted Praise For 'Hate Über Alles':

"One intro, 10 genuinely fantastic songs, absolutely no fucking about. They may have nothing to prove after nearly four decades of active service but Hate Über Alles proves it anyway. When it comes to hitting the heavy metal nail on the head with maximum conviction, Kreator are firmly top of the bill." - Metal Hammer (UK)

"Hate Über Alles is an album almost designed to piss someone off. And it might, if it wasn't so goddamned awesome." - Metal Injection (US)

"The legends from the Ruhr area have delivered another masterpiece and the only ones able to dethrone them would be themselves." - Metal Hammer (DE) / Album Of The Month

"KREATOR are basically a licence to produce anthems. They have nothing left to prove after laying waste to the opposition for decades and still manage to come out all guns blazing with one of their best releases to date." - Distorted Sound (UK)

"ultra powerful [production] while at the same time with a refreshing live feel"- Rock Hard (DE) / Album Of The Month

"KREATOR sound as confident and strong as ever" - Blabbermouth (US)

"KREATOR at its best." - Deaf Forever (DE)

"Rarely any other band manages to sound as fresh, hungry and inspired after almost 40 years as Petrozza and his pals." - Metal.de (DE)

"a terrific (thrash) metal album through and through and at the same time a hot contender for 'genre dominator of the year'. KREATOR über alles!"

Returning this year with fifteenth opus Hate Über Alles – which marks their first studio album with Frédéric Leclercq (ex-Dragonforce, Sinsaenum) on bass, joining Mille, guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö and drummer Jürgen ‘Ventor’ Reil – the metal titans are once again channeling an unholy heaviness strong enough to tilt the earth off-axis.

Conquering and destroying in the way only KREATOR can, Hate Über Alles will undoubtedly sit proudly amongst the finest metal releases of this year. And so onwards they march once more…

Today, extreme metal titans KREATOR are proud to unveil "Midnight Sun," the third single from their forthcoming fifteenth studio album, "Hate Über Alles," which will be released on June 10th, 2022. The eagerly anticipated full-length is a strong album-of-the-year contender as well as a global statement against hate & the division of society. Before its release next month, KREATOR give you another treat in the form of the most unusual song "Hate Über Alles" has to offer. "Midnight Sun" manages to couple heavy guitar shredding and captivating groove metal with a melodramatic, larger-than-life chorus including female backing vocals, impressively showcasing KREATOR’s continued evolution of the genre they helped create.

Mille Petrozza comments:

"Midnight Sun is something a little new for us, our first time collaborating with a female artist. When I was writing the song, I could hear this Oracle type voice over the pre-chorus and chorus and I immediately reached out to my talented friend, Sofia Portanet who is an emerging artist, here in Germany. Sofia added exactly what I was looking for and gives the song a really dark, ethereal vibe.

The video is the second production we shot with Tom Schlagkamp and his team. The concept was drawn up from the song’s lyrics which I envisaged to take place during a ritual sacrifice. Director, Tom came back with an idea loosely based on Ari Aster’s ‘Midsommar’ which has powerful visuals, perfect for a killer metal music video!"

For 37 years, KREATOR has spear-headed a thrash metal crusade, inspiring generations of metal heads and musicians alike. The collision of traditional and contemporary values is a sentiment that Mille Petrozza has breathed in to the soul of this monumental new album; recruiting visionary producer Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Cavalera Conspiracy, Ghostmane and Turnstile) from Philadelphia to work with the band at the legendary Hansa Studio in Berlin. 'Hate Über Alles' features gorgeously grim cover artwork painted by renowned artist Eliran Kantor (Testament, Thy Art Is Murder, Helloween), serving a bold statement against hate and division in today's society.

Mille Petrozza comments:

"'Hate Über Alles' reflects the time we’re living in. Everything is really loud and aggressive. The way we communicate has changed, thanks to social media. It causes a lot of imbalance. The world is in a state of disrepair. Life is not harmonic right now, it’s disharmonic… that’s where I was going with the title.”

As the 21st century was born, so KREATOR underwent what was nothing less than a seismic creative rebirth. By this time, the iconic German band had released nine studio albums in the 1980s and '90s, which had established them as one of the most important metal names of these decades. In the first period, they had helped to shape and pioneer the thrash scene through such releases as Pleasure To Kill (1986), TerribleCertainty ('87), and Extreme Aggression ('89). During the following decade, the band had opened up exciting horizons of experimentation on albums like Coma Of Souls (1990), Renewal ('92), and Endorama ('99). Now, though, it was time to move into a fresh era, as vocalist/guitarist Mille Petrozza explains. “During the 1990s, we were definitely experimenting with what the band was doing. But (drummer) Ventor and I decided that for this album – our first of the new millennium – we wanted to go back to the sort of sound that we had at the start of KREATOR. In other words, to get back to the reason why we began the band in the first place.

There were some significant changes for this album, one being the fact that the band signed to SPV/Steamhammer. There was also a new guitarist introduced, as Sami Yli-Sirniö (who had made his reputation with Finnish band WALTARI) took over from Tommy Vetterli. The latter (also known as Tommy T. Baron) had joined in 1996 and played on the Oucast (1997) and Endorama albums.

As usual, it was Petrozza who did all the writing for the album.

The producer for this album was Andy Sneap, who was now making a name for himself as one of the pre-eminent masters of this art in the modern metal world. Pre-production was done in Essen at KKS Studios, before the band went to Area 51 Studios in Celle, near Hamburg where they recorded the drum and bass (handled by Christian Giesler).

The album title came from something Petrozza had read. “In a book, I came across a comment that John F. Kennedy said (in 1962). This was: 'Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.' I thought 'Violent Revolution' would make a good title for an album. So, I kept it in my mind for this record. I think 'Violent Revolution' is a title that makes a real impact."

For the cover, KREATOR turned to Andreas Marschall, who had done such a striking job on the 1990's Coma Of Souls album sleeve.

Violent Revolution was released in September 2001, and became the band's highest-charting album to that point in Germany, as it reached number 38. “We knew we had a good album, so in that way, it wasn't a surprise to see this do so well in the chart. But however good you might think your album is, you can never be certain how people will react to what you've done, and whether you can pick up new fans, as well as satisfy the older ones. So, I suppose there was an element of us being pleasantly surprised when we got into the Top 40 for the first time. But I have to give a lot of credit to our label. They knew exactly how to market and promote the album, and showed we had made the right choice in signing to them.”

Violent Revolution is without question an excellent album. While in some ways it does hark back to the glories of the band's earlier days, nonetheless it does not sound at all nostalgic. The performances and production values are very much part of the contemporary era, and the strength of the compositions themselves are of the highest values. Rising to the challenge offered by a new generation of ambitious metal bands, KREATOR proved they were far from being a spent force. Unlike so many of their peers, here was a band who still had so much creativity to offer, and were also clearly excited themselves by what they were doing. And when you hear the band themselves enjoying the entire process, then you know this is a bona fide revitalization.

“I feel this is one of our strongest albums,” says Petrozza with conviction. “We took what we'd done on 'Coma Of Souls' and 'Extreme Aggression' but this wasn't a case of repeating it. No, we added in modern metal elements to the sound as well. It was a new era for Kreator. A rebirth if you want to put it that way. And the start of what I would call our second career.”

PRE-ORDER HERE https://kreator.lnk.to/GuillotinePR

The story of Kreator’s meteoric rise to the global elite of thrash metal bands from their humble beginnings in Essen Germany, began under their first name of Tormentor in the early 80’s. It was their ‘Blitzkreig’ and ‘End Of The World’ demos changing hands in the era’s bustling underground tape-trading network that exposed them to the international metal community. Positive word of mouth soon attracted the attention of Germany’s own metal start-up, Noise Records, which signed the newly re-christened Kreator to a deal.

Kreator’s tenure at the label spawned six studio albums and established them as one of the most influential on the thrash scene, one they dominate to this day. 1985 debut, Endless Pain was a savage debut; its crude thrashing quickly had the underground metal world abuzz with excitement. 1986’s Follow up, Pleasure To Kill is considered the band’s first “classic” album and raised the bar with more diversity of tempos, while losing nothing in terms of ferocity or speed. 1987’s Terrible Certainty further cemented the reputation that Kreator were one of the genre’s finest exponents. In 1989 the band closed the decade with the thrash triumph of Extreme Aggression, their biggest seller to date. 1990’s huge magnum opus Coma Of Souls confirmed them in thrash history before they diversified their sound on the experimental, Renewal in 1992.

Under The Guillotine is a deluxe celebration of Kreator’s, Noise Records discography and is the definitive collection of their first decade of recorded work and contains :

Endless Pain - (Swirl vinyl with original artwork & inner sleeve)
Pleasure To Kill - (Splatter vinyl with original artwork & inner sleeve)
Terrible Certainty - (Splatter vinyl with original artwork & inner lyric sleeve)
Extreme Aggression - (Half/half vinyl with original artwork & inner lyric sleeve)
Coma Of Souls - (Splatter vinyl with original artwork & inner lyric sleeve)
Renewal - (Swirl vinyl with original artwork & inner lyric sleeve)
Some Pain Will Last DVD - Containing ‘From The Vault’ mini documentary, plus two previously unreleased audio live concerts and an Andy Sneap remix of Live In East Berlin 1990
12” x 12”, 40 page hardback book of photography, quotes and lyrics from the first decade of the bands existence. Contains rare and previously unseen photos from the era.
Reproduction ‘End Of The World’ demo cassette
‘Demon’ figurine USB drive containing MP3 audio of all the expanded editions of all the albums.
All encased in an executioners, guillotine box.
The first 250 orders from the Noise Records store will also receive a signed art card by Mille Petrozza.

Also available as an introduction piece is ‘Under The Guillotine – The Noise Anthology’ – an 18 track double-vinyl collection of Kreator’s Noise era classics, pressed on splatter vinyl, including rare and unseen photos. And for the non-vinyl collectors, there will also be a 30 track 2CD version, housed in a mediabook. Both feature rare tracks and remixes from the bands discography.
