Gvllow Featuring Mothica Release Cover Of Billy Idol's Smash-Hit "Eyes Without A Face" In Partnership With American Psycho Comic Series From Sumerian Comics

Genre-blending artist Gvllow is the latest standout to join the formidable lineup contributing to the official soundtrack for Sumerian Comics' 'American Psycho' comic book series with a fresh reimagination of Billy Idol's smash-hit "Eyes Without A Face", featuring the inimitable Mothica. Stream the track HERE and watch the official video below.

Speaking about the track, Gvllow shared:

"I recorded this song over a year ago because I simply love this song and wanted to do my own cover of it. It's fun to do covers once in a while especially when it's a song you really love. I was blessed to have my buddy Scott Holiday feature guitar on it to bring the solo and all the fun guitar effects to life on the song, and then of course Mothica putting the cherry on top with the female vocals to compliment the choruses and even some of the verses. I'm just stoked that this is finally being released to the public after sitting on this for a long long time now."

Mothica also added:

I loved getting to work with my new friend Gvllow covering such an iconic song. We had such a great time working on the track and creating the visuals together. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as we had making it."

President of Sumerian Comics, Nathan Yocum, also commented:

"We’re excited to bring a fresh take on Billy Idol’s iconic "Eyes Without A Face" with Gvllow and Mothica, blending the haunting essence of the original with a darker, modern twist. Partnering with our American Psycho comic series this release continues to merge music and art in a way that pushes boundaries and taps into the darker side of both worlds. It’s a fusion of nostalgia and innovation that’s bound to captivate both fans of the original and new listeners alike."

The 'American Psycho' comic book series by Sumerian Comics is a bold reimagining of Patrick Bateman’s notorious saga. The five-issue series delves into a dual storyline format; one tracing the chilling exploits of Bateman, and the other introducing a contemporary narrative featuring Charlene Carruthers—a social media-savvy millennial whose descent into violence mirrors the chilling escalation of her predecessor. This innovative take reinterprets the iconic tale with a story written by Michael Calero (Quested), vivid artwork by Piotr Kowalski (The Witcher, Bloodborne, Sex) and striking colors by Brad Simpson (Kong of Skull Island, Stray Dogs, Blade Runner Origins).

Today's release joins previously released tracks from the likes of Charlotte Sands who dropped a massive cover of AFI's smash-hit "Miss Murder"Royal & The Serpent who tackled Leadbelly classic "Where Did You Sleep Last Night", Carpenter Brut feat. Krystoffer Rygg who released a cover of Billy Idol's "Eyes Without A Face", Ice Nine Kills feat. Reel Big Fish, who gave the Katrina and The Waves smash hit, "Walking On Sunshine" the ska punk treatment, Puscifer, who recorded a brand new, original single, "The Algorithm" for the comic book series, Unlike Pluto who covered Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams", Perturbator, who covered "Dangerous" by Depeche Mode and Ramsey, who covered Leadbelly's "Where Did You Sleep Last Night". Between them, the previously released tracks have racked up over 6.1 million streams with current sales for the comic book series topping 80,000 units.

Fans of the 'American Psycho' franchise can look forward to more from the accompanying soundtrack for the comic book series that perfectly complements the visual frenzy and deepens the narrative's impact, making each issue a multifaceted experience of sight and sound. Head to the Sumerian Comics website for more information and to order your copies of 'American Psycho'.

About Gvllow

GVLLOW's sound is an eclectic tapestry woven from the rich influences of '80s new wave, SoCal punk rock, and the iconic beach sounds of legends like Dick Dale and The Beach Boys. Born and raised in the vibrant punk scene of Riverside, California, he began his musical journey playing drums and immersing himself in the local live music scene, absorbing the energy and ethos of acts like Dr. Know and TSOL.

After a stint as a DJ in the underground rap scene for artists like Ghostemane and Lil Peep, and touring with City Morgue, GVLLOW emerged with two solo albums that spotlight his diverse talents. His previous releases, "Waste Away"(2018) and "Gvllow" (2020) which features collaborations with Travis BarkerBrennan Savage, and Jack Grisham (TSOL), spawning successful singles and earning him a significant following.

His sound shifted significantly in 2021 when he released the 'Spiritwalker' EP, the release saw his stylistic expansion into post-punk and dark wave. Heavily influenced by by the likes of Drab Majesty, Sisters Of Mercy and Bauhaus, the transition began with highly acclaimed single "Last Dance" and has continued throughout the 'Spiritwalker' EP and his 2022 releases - "Die By Your Hand", "Falling Down", "Not Sorry" and the 'Suffer' EP.

Bad Omens recently announced their new comic book series "Concrete Jungle" (via Sumerian Comics). Co-written by Noah Sebastian and Kevin Roditeli ("Freak Show") and illustrated by Nicola Izzo, the four-issue monthly series will be available for purchase in stores starting next week on Wednesday, September 6. Be sure to keep an eye out for limited edition bundles later in the year and for further information, please click here.

Bad Omens slither through boundaries, only to ultimately choke convention in the process. The quartet—Noah Sebastian (vocals), Joakim “Jolly” Karlsson (guitar), Nick Ruffilo (bass), and Nick Folio (drums)—materialize with ghostly atmospherics, striking hooks, and the tingles of sensual high-register harmonies uplifted by cinematic production. Racking up over 250M worldwide streams to date and earning acclaim, the band presents an uncompromising and undeniable vision on their third full-length album, 'THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND' (Sumerian Records).

“Making the record changed us as songwriters and musicians. In many ways, I feel like it set me free as an artist because every decision made in the writing process was for myself, with no fear for anyone else’s expectations of what our third album should sound like. Be it our fans or our record label.”

They’ve always wielded this level of magic though…

The group’s 2016 self-titled debut, 'Bad Omens', yielded fan favorites such as “Glass Houses” and “The Worst In Me” which eclipsed 43 million Spotify streams. On its heels, 2019’s 'Finding God Before God Finds Me' spawned “Dethrone” (32 million Spotify streams) and “Careful What You Wish For”. Along the way, they toured with numerous marquee acts and received tastemaker praise.

After their first headline tour was canceled mid-way at the top of the global pandemic, the band found themselves at home in Los Angeles with plenty of time. Where they absorbed and imparted a different palette of unexpected inspirations. Channeling what the frontman describes at times as a “cursive sound” they embraced newfound confidence and boundlessly loose creativity. Anything went in the studio, and all “rules” were broken. Noah and Jolly wrote, produced, and engineered the music themselves while GRAMMY® Award-nominated producer and songwriter Zakk Cervini (Halsey, Grimes, Poppy, blink-182) lent his talents with the mix and master. Challenging himself, Noah decided to “make a track sampling items around the house, none of which were musical instruments”.

This ultimately became the framework for the first single “THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND”. Claps puncture the icy soundscape as his voice stretches from a breathy moan into an evocative and entrancing hook, breaking from a whisper into the seductive chant, “It wasn’t hard to realize. Love’s the death of peace of mind.” It culminates on a climactic scream uplifted by a distorted crunch.

“The whole record really details the loss of peace of mind,” he explains. “The lyrics in the title track are a little more specific in terms of the conflict at the heart of something more intimate and personal.”

By speaking it aloud, Bad Omens offer a level of comfort and empathy, with a sinister shroud. At the same time, they also give rock music a sexy new shape on 'THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND'.

“Sonically, we want to do something you can’t arrive late or early too,” he leaves off. “You can’t cheat your way to the final act. You have to get on the ride and process it until the end. The songs are meant to be heard from start to finish. We want you to take the whole trip with us.”

WITHIN TEMPTATION BRING THEIR SWEEPING STORYTELLING TO COMICS WITH A NEW SERIES

Acclaimed symphonic metal band tackle the rise of AI with Opus Comics

Symphonic metal band Within Temptation are bringing their unique vision of the future to comic audiences with a brand new series from Opus Comicsbased on their 2019 album Resist and 2021 virtual concert Aftermath.

Set in the distant future, an endless battle rages between two species — an advanced but inherently humanoid species ruled by a techno-organic matriarch on one side, and a cruel race of alien artificial intelligences on the other. Multiple stories collide to paint a sweeping portrait of the matriarch's life and her struggle to balance what she was created to be with the impossible forces that shape her.

In order to bring this story to the comic book page, the band have teamed up with acclaimed YA author Marieke Nijkamp and heavy metal artist Montos to flesh out their dystopian world.

"The Purge cover star GENESIS has come to life on our stage and in different merchandise designs, and now she will be taking you on the biggest quest of her life — in both our next album as well as in our comic book series," says vocalist and co-founder Sharon den Adel, "Teaming up with Opus for this seemed like the logical decision, as they are a heavyweight in creating comic books and only work with the best designers and storytellers. We can't wait to show you the final result! We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do!"

The first issue will be available in a limited-edition print run featuring an exclusive numbered foil cover by Agustin Alessio (Star Wars, Avengers, Thor: God of Thunder) direct from Incendium Online, with a newsstand edition in comic stores this May for wide retail release.

"The symphonic splendour of Within Temptation has always transported listeners to other worlds, and experiencing those songs supported by the incredible set design of recent stage shows and virtual performances presented a wonderful opportunity to explore their futuristic vision with an all new narrative," adds Incendium and Opus Comics founder Llexi Leon. "Today, the battle against AI is suddenly a very real topic, particularly for artists and other creatives, which is reflected in the story of the matriarch and her struggle."

Within Temptation #1 is the first in a three-part mini-series at 40 pages long, and is solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors' March PREVIEWS catalogue for May release at Opus Comics' signature $6.66 price point. Fans can also buy a numbered limited-edition version of the book with foil treatment directly here.

ABOUT TWIZTID

The TWIZTID tale is gritty and fascinating folklore, built on self-determination, fearless creativity, and the elimination of the boundaries between artist and audience. The dedicated supporters who stand with co-conspirators Jamie Madrox and Monoxide are more than fans: they are family. The duo remembers what it meant to be part of the crowd before they leaped the barricades onto the stage themselves, and with unrelenting passion and aggression, they’re taking all of us with them.

There’s a rogue’s gallery of hooks, rhythms, and riffs in the TWIZTID bag of tricks. For 25 years, they’ve concocted artistic anarchy rooted in the streetwise storytelling sophistication of hip-hop, trance-inducing hypnotic beats, and the seething bite of hard rock rage. Merging horror movies, comics, and a level of depravity and violence rivaling the grimiest of pulp fiction in the annals of Americana, TWIZTID is the reflection of a tightly knit subculture and the sound of unbridled id.

TWIZTID spin emotional truth into even the wildest of tales, resulting in something endlessly relatable to the alienated and disenfranchised. The music, multimedia, and merchandise originate from their own Majik Ninja Entertainment, headquartered in their native Detroit.

With over a dozen entries on the Billboard charts, 167 million career streams and 148 million Youtube views, TWIZTID built themselves into an institution, without the help of mainstream gatekeepers at MTV, traditional radio, or major press. They’ve brought their adrenaline-soaked, unbound artistic mania on the road, with metalcore acts like Motionless In White and on the Vans Warped Tour, all without forsaking the worldwide family they helped strengthen during their initial decade-plus on Psychopathic Records. TWIZTID built the connection they maintain with their fiercely dedicated legion of supporters to last and to evolve. Everything Majik Ninja does harken back to that original impulse shared by Monoxide and Jamie Madrox: to make art that swings a big ax at the boundary between audience and artist.

As the 21st century was born, so KREATOR underwent what was nothing less than a seismic creative rebirth. By this time, the iconic German band had released nine studio albums in the 1980s and '90s, which had established them as one of the most important metal names of these decades. In the first period, they had helped to shape and pioneer the thrash scene through such releases as Pleasure To Kill (1986), TerribleCertainty ('87), and Extreme Aggression ('89). During the following decade, the band had opened up exciting horizons of experimentation on albums like Coma Of Souls (1990), Renewal ('92), and Endorama ('99). Now, though, it was time to move into a fresh era, as vocalist/guitarist Mille Petrozza explains. “During the 1990s, we were definitely experimenting with what the band was doing. But (drummer) Ventor and I decided that for this album – our first of the new millennium – we wanted to go back to the sort of sound that we had at the start of KREATOR. In other words, to get back to the reason why we began the band in the first place.

There were some significant changes for this album, one being the fact that the band signed to SPV/Steamhammer. There was also a new guitarist introduced, as Sami Yli-Sirniö (who had made his reputation with Finnish band WALTARI) took over from Tommy Vetterli. The latter (also known as Tommy T. Baron) had joined in 1996 and played on the Oucast (1997) and Endorama albums.

As usual, it was Petrozza who did all the writing for the album.

The producer for this album was Andy Sneap, who was now making a name for himself as one of the pre-eminent masters of this art in the modern metal world. Pre-production was done in Essen at KKS Studios, before the band went to Area 51 Studios in Celle, near Hamburg where they recorded the drum and bass (handled by Christian Giesler).

The album title came from something Petrozza had read. “In a book, I came across a comment that John F. Kennedy said (in 1962). This was: 'Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.' I thought 'Violent Revolution' would make a good title for an album. So, I kept it in my mind for this record. I think 'Violent Revolution' is a title that makes a real impact."

For the cover, KREATOR turned to Andreas Marschall, who had done such a striking job on the 1990's Coma Of Souls album sleeve.

Violent Revolution was released in September 2001, and became the band's highest-charting album to that point in Germany, as it reached number 38. “We knew we had a good album, so in that way, it wasn't a surprise to see this do so well in the chart. But however good you might think your album is, you can never be certain how people will react to what you've done, and whether you can pick up new fans, as well as satisfy the older ones. So, I suppose there was an element of us being pleasantly surprised when we got into the Top 40 for the first time. But I have to give a lot of credit to our label. They knew exactly how to market and promote the album, and showed we had made the right choice in signing to them.”

Violent Revolution is without question an excellent album. While in some ways it does hark back to the glories of the band's earlier days, nonetheless it does not sound at all nostalgic. The performances and production values are very much part of the contemporary era, and the strength of the compositions themselves are of the highest values. Rising to the challenge offered by a new generation of ambitious metal bands, KREATOR proved they were far from being a spent force. Unlike so many of their peers, here was a band who still had so much creativity to offer, and were also clearly excited themselves by what they were doing. And when you hear the band themselves enjoying the entire process, then you know this is a bona fide revitalization.

“I feel this is one of our strongest albums,” says Petrozza with conviction. “We took what we'd done on 'Coma Of Souls' and 'Extreme Aggression' but this wasn't a case of repeating it. No, we added in modern metal elements to the sound as well. It was a new era for Kreator. A rebirth if you want to put it that way. And the start of what I would call our second career.”

Published under Incendium’s music-focused OPUS imprint, Seekers of the Seven Keys is crafted by horror masters, writer Joe Harris (Creepy, The X-Files, Rockstars), and artist Axel Medellin (Hoax Hunters, Elephantman), and features cover artwork by Santi Casas.

In Seekers of the Seven Keys, the mystical Seven Keys have been lost, and the Keeper wants them back. But he’s not the only one looking. And when teenage siblings stumble upon the quest, they embark on a 1980s-style science-fiction, fantasy adventure filled with the horror tropes, campy characters, and throwback humor for which the band is known.

HELLOWEEN guitarist Michael Weikath said, “Obviously, Dr. Stein is not the only one who can come up with funny creatures. We are thrilled to see the characters from the HELLOWEEN universe finally come to life! The team of Incendium did a great job and created an exciting new comic adventure. As we say in Dr. Stein: And their time is right!"

Added Llexi Leon, CEO of Incendium: HELLOWEEN’s offbeat comic, inspired by their epic music, fuses fan-favorite characters with whimsical fantasy—and a healthy dose of heavy metal! As they are one of the great innovators in the genre, it’s been a joy to revisit their catalog, particularly the ‘Seven Keys’ saga, and lay down the groundwork for an all-new narrative that will appeal to long-time fans of the band and Halloween horror aficionados alike!”

The debut of the comic book comes in the wake of the recent release of Helloween’s self-titled album, which has climbed to the top of the charts across the world. The album is reminiscent of all eras of the band’s history and unites their three vocalists Michael Kiske, Andi Deris, and Kai Hansen. The band's sixteenth studio album was released by Nuclear Blast Tonträger Produktions- und Vertriebs GmbH in June.

The first print edition of Seekers of the Seven Keys will be released as a prestige-format limited edition collectible comic book, featuring cardstock covers, specialty foil treatments, glossy pages, and individual numbering.
