CHASE RICE’S “BENCH SEAT” MUSIC VIDEO CONTINUES TO IMPRESS AS AWARDS SEASON APPROACHES

16 Film Festival Selections Including Cannes World Film Festival, Onrios Film Festival, Benelux International Film Festival; 6 Awards & Counting

Emotional Song Inspired by a True Story Featured on Critically Acclaimed Album I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell

When Chase Rice’s longtime friend came to him with an idea for a song about “a guy and his dog driving around together,” the Diamond-certified songwriter laughed. “That cliché was exactly the type of thing I was trying to avoid on this album,” Rice remembers. And yet, once he sat down with his acoustic guitar to craft what would become one of four solo writes on the critically acclaimed project, the result was anything but cliché. With “Bench Seat” and its corresponding music video, Rice pays tribute to that friend – and the dog that saved his life.

“My buddy was in a really dark place – to the point where he was ready to end his own life. It took a lot for him to take me back to that moment, but when he told me what stopped him it stopped me in my tracks: his dog came and laid his head on his lap, and that connection saved him,” Rice explains. “I wrote this song by myself with the point of view from the dog’s perspective – which might not be obvious right away – and what that moment might have meant for the two of them if not for that intervention.”

Building upon the emotional backstory of the song celebrated by the Tennessean as what “could be, by the end of 2023, one of the surprise candidates for Song of the Year." The
official music video directed by Kaiser Cunningham offers a seven-plus-minute short film spotlighting the mental health struggle that affects countless people. The video’s intention is to encourage viewers to feel comfortable talking about the topic and seeking the assistance they need, with its conclusion pointing to available resources via wannatalkaboutit.com and encouraging anyone in crisis to call/text 988.

“For the first time in my career, I could envision the whole video as I was writing the song,” notes Rice. “I wanted to shine a light on the topic of mental health because this is something that makes way too many people feel alone and especially when addiction becomes part of the picture, one bad moment can have horrible consequences. I personally know how hard it can be to ask for help when you need it. I hope this helps start a few more conversations and helps people know they really aren’t alone."

“When my friend was in that moment, it was impossible to see anything but the heaviness. He was able to get the help he needed, though, and now he’s living a beautiful life and starting a family. That’s what this video is really about – showing you the potential for a happy end to the story if you are able to find a way to get help through the dark times.”

“As a director, it was imperative that we found certain angles, dynamic camera movements and a very specific look that makes the viewer feel the emotion the song itself delivers,” adds Cunningham. “I hope that everyone who watches this video realizes the importance of mental health. In my own life, having friends of mine from the Marine Corps commit suicide, it was an important message that I stand behind. If you need help, please get it. There’s always someone in your corner."

“The response has been overwhelming – from the film festivals to the media feedback – however more importantly the comments on the video from fans,” Cunningham continues. “These are real people, with real stories, and I’m incredibly grateful we could make a project that has had such an impact on people's lives and their stories.

Thus far, the “Bench Seat” video has been selected for 16 film festivals, taking home six awards while being named a semi-finalist and a finalist twice each – and counting.

The powerful song is one of 14 tracks on Rice’s latest album, I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, which also features current single “Bad Day To Be A Cold Beer.” Recorded during an immersive two-week period at Rice’s farm outside Nashville with producer Oscar Charles and a live band using a makeshift recording setup, the album ranges from admiration of a Western way of life to emotional reckoning, showcasing a more raw, vulnerable side of the man praised by Sports Illustrated for “his wild ride to redemption” than on any of his previous studio projects.

About Chase Rice:
With more than 2.4 million albums sold and over 2.5 billion total streams, plus a legion of passionate fans at his high-energy concerts across the globe, Chase Rice has established himself as a powerful force in Nashville and beyond. With the critically acclaimed album I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell crafted in his rural Tennessee home-turned-studio available everywhere now, Rice’s sound continues to evolve to reflect the realities of his life; from emotional reckoning to an admiration of the Western way of life. The new music, including current single “Bad Day To Be A Cold Beer,” serves as a follow up to his three-part project, The Album, featuring his latest Platinum-certified No. 1 hit, “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen. (feat. Florida Georgia Line)” and Platinum-certified Top 10 hit “Lonely If You Are.” This is the same gravelly-voiced Chase Rice fans first fell in love with years ago – but better, freer; unbeholden and uninhibited. The new music builds upon the success of his sophomore album, Lambs & Lions, which featured the Triple Platinum, two-week chart topper “Eyes On You” – Rice’s first No. 1 as an artist and the most-streamed song of his career. Lambs & Lions followed Platinum-certified Ignite the Night, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums and No. 3 on the all-genre chart, producing a pair of Top 5 hits; Platinum-certified “Gonna Wanna Tonight” and Double Platinum “Ready Set Roll.” In addition to guesting on sold-out stadium shows with Kenny Chesney and Garth Brooks, Rice consistently sells out venues on his own headlining tours, including the recently-wrapped Way Down Yonder Tour in support of his new music, and will join both Jelly Roll and Old Dominion for arena shows later this year.

SVALBARD - release melancholic composition 'How To Swim Down' alongside heart-breaking animated video

DON'T BREAK THE SPELL
I'LL NEVER TELL
WHY WE WON'T DROWN
IF WE SWIM DOWN...

Svalbard have released the third single from their forthcoming new studio album, The Weight Of The Mask, due out on October 6th. The track titled 'How To Swim Down' is Svalbard's most unique and moving work to date, featuring heart-rending, ethereal violin parts from Liam Phelan, and a profound vocal performance from Serena Cherry.

The track is accompanied by a beautiful animated video, created by
Boy Tillkens. The heart-breaking animation is a delicate portrayal of humanity, detailing the tenderness and strength found in existence.

Svalbard's Serena Cherry commented,

"This song is about the exquisite pain and sorrowful beauty of unrequited love. I think it's the saddest, most heart-breaking song we've ever written. Lyrically, the starting point of the verse is about the concealment of adoration, before the chorus gives way to realizing and accepting the fate of loving someone quietly from afar.

I cannot watch the music video for How To Swim Down without crying. Boy has captured the bittersweet emotion of the song so delicately, it's an incredibly moving piece of animation to watch.

Musically, How To Swim Down saw us dive into unchartered waters with Liam adding many layers of mournful violin parts onto the track. Finally, violins - for the first time in Svalbard history! It feels so exciting to have new instruments on a song. Another first is that How To Swim Down features only clean vocals, no screams. I wanted the vocal delivery of these lyrics to feel as though I'm whispering a secret to someone whilst they're sleeping. My vocals here represent that lonely type of communication, singing to yourself in an empty house. It's a private, selfless love song, where only the listener knows of my heartache."

The Weight Of The Mask was recorded at The Ranch Production House, UK. The record was produced and mixed by Lewis Johns, with mastering by Grant Berry. Engineering was handled by Lewis Johns, assisted by Matt Janke, with additional editing by Kel Pinchin and Sebastien Sendon.

Svalbard's intention with their music is to make people feel less alone and to be there for people in their darkest times. The Weight Of The Mask bravely lays out experiences of mental illness and depression, hoping to help destigmatize these topics.

Svalbard finished an extensive tour across the continent supporting post-metal monoliths Cult Of Luna and Russian Circles earlier this year, and the band are currently in the midst of a string of European summer festival performances. They've recently played the likes of Inferno (Norway), Hellfest (France), and With Full Force (Germany), plus2000Trees and Portals in the UK. Their remaining festival dates are listed below.

SVALBARD will be returning to the EU mainland for six headline show dates in October, which will be followed by a performance at the Cult Of Luna curated Beyond The Redshift event in London and a headline date at The Key Club in Leeds.

Summer Festivals
11-13 Aug - BE, Kortrijk, Alcatraz Festival
16-19 Aug - UK, Compton Martin, ArcTanGent
October Dates
14 Oct - NL Nijmegen, Soulcrusher
15 Oct - DE Cologne, Helios 37
16 Oct - DE Berlin, Urban Spree
17 Oct - DE Dresden, Chemiefabrik
18 Oct - DE Neunkirchen, Stummsche Reithalle
19 Oct - FR Paris, Backstage By The Mill

20 Oct - UK London, Beyond The Redshift - curated by Cult Of Luna
21 Oct - UK Leeds, The Key Club

Formed in Bristol UK, Svalbard have released three studio albums, three EPs and several split releases. Their exceptional last studio album, 2020's When I Die, Will I Get Better? was dubbed by Metal Hammer UK as "the most important British metal record of 2020", with both Metal Hammer and Kerrang! lauding the record as a top 10 album of the year. A career milestone, it cemented Svalbard as a powerful and vital component of our global music scene.

Whilst refining their distinctive blend of euphoric black metal, post-rock, and d-beat, Svalbard have incorporated a few more surprising influences along the way. From soft, mournful singing to progressive guitar leads, it showcases a sensitive dynamic that lends impact to their most crushing moments - of which there are undoubtedly many. There’s no poetry, no ambiguity - just direct, raw honesty as the quartet tackles some very uncomfortable subjects head-on. This is heavy in the most evocative sense of the word. The blunt lyrics are equally as important as the music.

Svalbard are:
Vocals/Guitar - Serena Cherry
Vocals/Guitar - Liam Phelan
Drums - Mark Lilley
Bass - Matt Francis

HORRENDOUS Invite You Inside 'Ontological Mysterium'

When Horrendous started working on their fifth album, Philly's filthiest and finest death metal band wanted to acknowledge the bombast of late '80s and early '90s heavy metal, while blazing a path forward into uncharted territory. They were awfully successful, too. With 'Ontological Mysterium', these guys made a classic of their own.

'Ontological Mysterium' is now streaming in full below.

Horrendous are also hosting a listening party for their new album on Bandcamp this Wednesday at 9 pm EST. Fans can listen to 'Ontological Mysterium' while chatting with members of the band. RSVP for the listening party
HERE

'Ontological Mysterium' is a labyrinth. The deeper in you go, the more this album twists and churns, luring you toward some monstrous final battle. The riffs on
the title track slice like the blades of an Apache helicopter, while the battle cry that opens "Cult of Shaad'oah" will make you feel like you're about to carve up a volcano full of giant, flaming snake warriors.

But 'Ontological Mysterium has other surprises up its robe.
"Preterition Hymn"is a lament for the weary that cascades like sweet, sweet tears. And with elastic bass, fluorescent synths, a jazzy ride cymbal and a finger-tapped guitar solo that will bring you to your knees, "Aurora Neoterica" is about as sleek and sexy as death metal gets.

"Somehow these guys can take Iron Maiden, mesh it with '90s prog-influenced death metal masters like Atheist, dispense with traditional metal song structures and create something that you've never heard before," writes
Metal Injection

Angry Metal Guy says: "Horrendous have knocked out another triumph of intelligent, sumptuous progressive death, cementing themselves as one of the most important death metal bands of the past decade.

Here's what the band has to say about their new album: "We can't believe the time has come to unveil 'Ontological Mysterium'! An indescribable amount of determination, suffering, joy, and love went into this record, from the first seeds of writing in early 2019, through periods of extreme rethinking and revision over the pandemic lockdown, to the adrenaline-fueled, highly experimental, and at times circus-like recording sessions. We feel that this is the most "Horrendous" album yet - the one that best distills who we are and celebrates how far we've come on this continuing journey. We hope that you enjoy OM, and that it breathes some wonder into your life during these trying times".

'Ontological Mysterium' will be released on August 18, 2023 by Season of Mist. Pre-save the album HEREPre-order it HERE

Let your chariot ride!

Horrendous are on the cover of the September issue of Decibel magazine. Order a copy and get an exclusive limited edition The Silver flexi disc.

"After years of incredible support from Decibel Magazine, we are honored to make it to the cover of their next issue", the band says. "Eternal thanks to Albert Mudrian for always believing in our music, Mike Wohlberg for all of his artistic contributions to the band, and Scott Kinkade for capturing us masterfully, and everyone out there who has supported us."

“Surprises always come up during writing — spontaneous ideas pull you into new territory and enable the realization of novel possibilities that previously were inaccessible.”

Such are the words from Horrendous drummer Jamie Knox when discussing the creation of the band’s fifth full-length, the highly anticipated 'Ontological Mysterium'. Knox’s quote also encapsulates Horrendous’s approach to extreme metal. Since 2009, the band has capably tapped into the inaccessible by providing a fresh, unconventional take on death metal that harnesses technical brilliance with elaborate, mind-melding melodies, frothy, spewing vocals and labyrinthine song structures. This combination has made each Horrendous long play a clinic in the gratifyingly unorthodox. The trend continues on Ontological Mysterium.

The follow-up to 2018’s Idol was recorded, mixed and mastered at Subterranean Watchtower Studios in Virginia, which doubles as the homestead of guitarist/vocalist Damian Herring. While the band (completed by guitarist/vocalist Matt Knox and bassist Alex Kulick) finished much of the songwriting for Ontological Mysterium in 2019, its recording was delayed by the 2020 global pandemic and various life events. Horrendous eventually finished recording in early 2022 and mastered the album before the start of 2023.

The album upholds Horrendous’s position as one of the underground’s best outside-of-the-box extreme metal bands. Having long abandoned concern whether people would appreciate their “uniqueness,” Horrendous has embraced its role as a band willing to veer far from death metal conventions, intentionally stretching and breaking norms. To wit, the band primarily views its music as filtered through a death metal lens. This may be Horrendous’s defining trait: By not accepting parameters, nothing is off-limits.

Tzarina Release New Single "HORACE" Today!

STREAM "HORACE"

https://linktr.ee/tzarinaband

Post-hardcore band Tzarina released their latest single "Horace" today, August 15th. The single is from their forthcoming self-titled album due out later this year. The lyric video premiered on ghostcultmag.com.

"Horace is a song that came out of another song that didn't make it to the final cut of the album. With Horace, I fell in love with the sort of darker ambient voicing of the track juxtaposed with a bluesy chorus line," says the band's vocalist, Craig William.

For songwriter Craig William, the crux of the musical endeavor powered by the band Tzarina has always been to explore the more ethereal themes evident in the mixture of metal, post-rock, and post-hardcore genres expressed in their music. This is evident in Tzarina's trail of singles, which have been seeing their release since October 2020.

It has been almost two years since the full LP was recorded, so they are slated to release their first complete work later this year. This has been a long-awaited moment for the band, who have been hard at work perfecting their sound and experimenting with various elements of their live performance.

Tzarina is comprised of Craig William on vocals and guitar, Mark Ayesh on guitar and backup vocals, Robert Scott Abrams on drums, and Michael Forsyth on bass. With the constraints resulting from the COVID pandemic, the band was forced to have a bit more of a DIY ethic, with Craig handling the brunt of the songwriting, and recording, while in isolation. This did not stop the rest of the members from contributing where they could and the result is nothing short of a sound that is distinctly their own.

This is a group that takes great pride in its artistry, and it shows in the level of care put into every aspect of their music. It is this dedication that has allowed them to continue to evolve and grow as artists.

They are known for their aggressive live shows juxtaposed with beautifully textured music and thought-provoking lyrics that explore the human experience. With heavy, driving riffs and powerful vocals, Tzarina is poised to become one of the most exciting acts coming up in the Brooklyn area.

Tzarina is a band that is constantly striving to push themselves creatively, and they show no signs of slowing down any time soon. With a new album on the horizon and an ever-growing live show, there is much to be seen and heard from this talented group of musicians. Whether you're a post-hardcore fan or just appreciate great music in general, Tzarina is definitely a band to keep your eye on.

St. Louis horror metal outfit The Lion's Daughter will be releasing its brand new full-length, 'Bath House,' on October 13, 2023 as an independent entity! The band has teamed up with Knotfest to premiere their viscous new single, "Maximize Terror," .

“The intention of 'Maximize Terror' is just what the title suggests… it’s a violent panic attack nightmare. It’s the past two years of my dealing with a terrible anxiety disorder condensed into 3 and half minutes."

In addition, The Lion's Daughter will be performing live later this year! On October 13, the band will have a special Friday the 13th album release party in its hometown of St. Louis, MO. Then, the band will hit Black Circle Brewing in Indianapolis, IN on 11/11 for another rager! The full itinerary can be found below with more dates TBA!

The Lion's Daughter Live Dates (U.S.):

10/13: St. Louis, MO @ Red Flag (Album Release Show)

11/11: Indianapolis, IN @ Black Circle Brewing

“What we did see… was something altogether different, and immeasurably more hideous and detestable. It was the utter, objective embodiment of the fantastic novelist’s ‘thing that should not be.’” - H.P. Lovecraft, “At The Mountains of Madness”

Some creations are designed to elicit nightmares, evoking unspeakable terrors that are meant to shock, terrify, and mesmerize the masses. Since the release of its first full-length in 2012, The Lion’s Daughter has consistently put forth music that is just as disturbing as it is enticing, making a name for itself as a dark force among its musical contemporaries. And much like an eldritch horror, the band is constantly shape shifting like a Shoggoth, capable of fitting into many different musical spaces, while at the same time, fitting into no earthly dimensions just as an ancient alien rising up from centuries of arctic slumber with a mission to destroy and conquer.

And much like the Shoggoth, The Lion’s Daughter have defied all gods and masters, releasing its latest opus as an independent entity, breaking away from the corporate confines of a label. ‘Bath House’ is another generically unclassified masterpiece from the St. Louis horror quartet, pulling elements from everything from Faith No More to Godflesh to Samhain, creating a sound that’s way ahead of its time and yet certain to grab the listener by the throat.

“Saying that this album was influenced by everything-that-I’ve-ever-liked-ever isn’t a very good answer, but it’s an accurate one,” explains frontman Rick Giordano on the band’s unique sound. “I turned the left side of my brain off completely and let a lifetime of soaking up great art just come to the surface naturally. There are bits of all the things I love in there… from old Metallica to film scores to industrial and whatever else, but I think these things have melded together in a way that is cohesive and not just nonsensical genre-hopping. There are clean vocals and guitar solos, a lot of things that we’ve never tried before. It really feels like you uploaded my entire record collection to a hard drive and had an AI create an album based on that.”

As the music itself on ‘Bath House’ is a representation of Giordano’s musical palette, the lyrics are perhaps the darkest and most vulnerable of his career. The band strays away from fantasy on this record and instead, gets raw and relatable. “It’s all really ugly shit,” he says of the new album’s themes. “Which, for our band, is not shocking at all. But this time around, it’s all much more personal to me, which makes it a bit difficult and uncomfortable to talk about. I wasn’t in a great place while writing this record. Grief, fear, jealousy, and general devastation can be found all over this thing. That wasn’t my intention exactly, but like the music, I let the lyrics kind of write themselves without letting logic or reason interfere.”

To further illustrate the darkness that dwells within ‘Bath House,’ The Lion’s Daughter commissioned a perverse and unnerving image from UK artist Daniel Peacock for the album cover. The image not only works well in cohesion with the record, but also symbolizes that while ‘Bath House’ still very much carries the band’s signature sound, it still isn’t exactly what fans might expect. Giordano explains, “Our previous two album covers featured masked characters. I wanted to see what happens when you take the mask off. This record isn’t shrouded in mystery the same way the previous couple have been. It’s much more of an in your face kind of attack, and I felt the artwork should represent that. This horrible creature looks dangerous and frightening, but is also clearly in pain and also afraid. It’s the perfect image to represent whatever the fuck ugly thing lives in my head. On this record it is no longer hiding behind a mask… it is loose and it’s right outside your fucking house.”

As the St. Louis horror masters set forth on a new trajectory, the former trio has also added Black Fast guitarist Aaron Akin to the lineup, creating a sound that’s more intense and grand. “Aaron was the guitarist and vocalist of a band called Black Fast. They were hands down the best metal band to come out of St. Louis in decades. Once they disbanded, it was a no-brainer to try and get the guy who fronted my favorite local band to be in my band. Why wouldn’t I? Plus, as anyone who knows Aaron will tell you, he’s an all around great guy,” explains Giordano on how this new union came about.

And as a new union has been formed, former binds have been severed as The Lion’s Daughter is no longer tied to a label, doing this record fully independently for the first time in its career and taking full and total control. “It’s just nice to have 100% control over everything again,” Giordano says of the band’s new freedom. “That was the whole intention when we started this band years ago. We lost sight of that for a while. No disrespect intended towards anyone, but this band has always been pretty anti-music industry and anti-bullshit.”

Despite so many changes, The Lion’s Daughter is still the same band that cult followers have come to worship, but with everything cranked up to 11. With heavier music, a fuller sound, and darker themes, the band is maximizing terror with its monstrous brand of debauchery and unspeakable perversions. Unpleasant dreams…

The brutal new track is the second single from their previously announced 'Offcuts EP' which will feature on the upcoming double deluxe edition of their phenomenal album, 'Director's Cuts', released earlier this year via Unique Leader Records. Both will be released on Friday, September 15th. Pre-save HERE

Speaking on his band's latest serving of no-punches-pulled brutality, vocalist Dane Evans shares

"Deadskin Skimask is one of my favourites from the whole of 'Director's Cuts' and 'Offcuts', this song almost ended up on the album until we realized it sucked and needed to take another run at it. What you hear now is the result of us trying to save it and I ended up pretty stoked on it.

"Something about it has given me Slipknot vibes all the way through this track, even the breakdown.

Straight up what I feel is our most violently-written song to date and I think it'll go off live.

Our good friend Jake kills his feature on this and it was cool to get to sample Pearl, go watch that movie."

To The Grave are one of the most uncompromising and outspoken bands in the deathcore scene today. Lyrically exposing a societal and environmental hell on earth whilst pushing the boundaries of accessible extremity, full of barbed hooks, thick with atmosphere and drenched in groove. They combine crushing riffs, blast beats and guttural vocals with a strong sense of social justice and animal rights activism.

Their sophomore offering, ‘Director’s Cuts’, was released earlier this year. It's a groundbreaking body of work that pushed the boundaries of deathcore with cinematic, horror movie inspired music videos and diverse soundscapes. The album spawned singles "Red Dot Sight", "Axe Of Kindness", "Cut Off The Head" and "Found Footage" the music videos for which have racked up 420,000 views on YouTube between them with the album hitting 2.68 million streams and counting across streaming platforms.

The 'Director's Cuts (Deluxe)' release coming on September 15th promises to be a collector's dream. With the additional "Offcuts EP" tracks, the release will be available in multiple formats, including a double disc, gatefold vinyl, and some killer pre-order merch items to choose from too. Click HERE to pre-order your copy now.

To The Grave will be heading to North America this fall for an extensive run of dates with Carnifex, Signs of The Swarm and Ten Seconds of Life. BLACK MARKET KARMA teams up Spacemen 3 founding member SONIC BOOM on kaleidoscopic single 'The Sour Truth with Sonic Boom'

London psychedelic pop artist Black Market Karma presents 'The Sour Truth', their long-awaited collaboration with legendary musician-producer Sonic Boom (aka Pete Kember) of Spacemen 3 and Spectrum fame. This single will be released on 10" vinyl and digitally via London boutique label Flower Power Records.

Produced by Kember and featuring him on synth and percussion, 'The Sour Truth' is a slice of technicolour psych-pop - a trippy, kaleidoscopic and vibrantly nostalgic feel-good track.

With cycling Lo-fi guitars, stacked tremolos, shimmering vocals and sugary winding synths, it is laced with lyrics about the pain of cognitive dissonance after loving a version of someone that turned out to be a facade. “Sick and tired of being sick and tired. It was just a mirage that I admired”.

It's been a busy year for Black Market Karma, having recently wrapped up tour dates with The Black Angels. Earlier this year, BMK released their eleventh album
'Friends In Noise' featuring Tess Parks, The Underground Youth, Les Big Byrd / Joakim Ahlund, The Confederate Dead and Ruari Meehan. Not long before that, in late 2022 album ‘Aped Flair & Hijacked Ideas'.

Revolving around songwriter Stanley Belton, Black Market Karma colourizes this world with a carousel of jingle jangle, distorted wobble and flavours of psychedelia, fuzzed out tones and thumping grooves. With a thick and colourful sound channelled through vintage equipment, their music is rooted in 60's guitar and pop music, other influences include folk, blues, lo-fi electronica, alt pop and soul.

"Sometimes we can fall in love with the idea of a person as opposed to the reality of them, whether that's through us seeing what we want to see, them projecting a falseness or a mix of both. The fall out of that curtain being pulled can be quite a painful feeling of cognitive dissonance. That's kinda what this song is about. It's also about when something that was previously blindingly bright, devolves into a noisy mess of finger pointing," says Stanley Belton.

Pete Kember explains, "I heard this and I believe it was recorded during one of the lockdowns on Stan’s BMK Instagram page and I loved the vibe and the song. I think it’s a song most of us can relate to. Has a whiff of The Only Ones, Daniel Johnston maybe ...even a little soupçon of Beat Happening....yeah. Hearty stuff for a hungry soul. One of my fave things from the strange past few. Was a pleasure to mix. I wish I'd written it".

Pete Kember founded Spacemen 3 with Jason Pierce in 1982 and the band went onto achieve widespread critical acclaim before going their separate was around 1990. Kember has since embarked on further sonic adventures with Spectrumand E.A.R. (Experimental Audio Research) and solo (both as Sonic Boom and Pete Kember). As a producer, he has also been involved in some quite notable projects involving MGMT, Beach House, Panda Bear and Moon Duo, among others.

Stanley Belton notes, "I've loved Pete's music since I was a teenager, so to hear that he dug this tune and then have him involved with recording it has been magic. He added a pair of synths: one a sugary sweet winding  melody, the other a set of airy, swelling strings. He also added percussion, a bunch of other lush production elements, and also mixed it."

As of August 16, 'Sour Truth' will be released everywhere digitally, including
Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp. It can also be ordered on transparent vinyl at www.flowerpowerrecords.com

‘THE SOUR TRUTH' LYRICS
Honey I can feel you're burning
On my part there's only hurting
By my side does not come with ease
But your tempest heart gets me on my knees

Horror as I'm just now learning
The sour truth inside you churning
Sick and tired of being sick and tired
It was just a mirage that I admired

Thy Art Is Murder Share "Blood Throne" Video — WATCH

Australia's extreme metal titans Thy Art Is Murder have revealed turbulent new single "Blood Throne," taken from the band's forthcoming album, Godlike, out September 15 via Human Warfare. Pre-order Godlike here.

Watch the video
below.

"AND SO THEY ROT!!" growls a menacing CJ McMahon as he ushers in "Blood Throne" with a maniacal glint in his eye. From here, Thy Art Is Murder blast open the ninth circle of hell with a potent mix of mayhem and force designed to galvanize us into overthrowing the evil that reigns on the Blood Throne.

Guitarist Andy Marsh offers, "As we started work on 'Blood Throne,' we aimed to harness the same visceral energy that drove '
Death Squad Anthem' while pushing our boundaries to craft something unique. Kicking things off with a break beat groove, we wanted to set the tone with a jolt to the system preparing everyone for the chaos ahead. 'Blood Throne' embodies our attempt at creative anthemic power and groove spiraling into a reflection of oppressive organizations and regimes that profit and thrive on the toil and pain of the marginalized. Throughout our career, we have confronted these themes head on with the aim of igniting a fire within each listener and inspiring the collective strength to challenge the dominion of those who perpetuate suffering."

Thy Art Is Murder ascended the ranks of extreme metal's top tier bands with a meteoric underground rise as explosive as humankind's seemingly inevitable descent into doom and death. With their new album, Godlike, Australia's most harrowingly brutal export since George Miller's Mad Max franchise invites audiences worldwide to join them in a fresh Armageddon.

The sixth explosive album in the band's arsenal, Godlike cements Thy Art Is Murder as death metal's modern torchbearers. A soundtrack to a divisive post-modern dystopia, Godlike sees Thy Art Is Murder explore new depths and dynamics without sacrificing an ounce of intensity or urgency the band have staked their career on.

Recorded with their longtime producer and mixer Will Putney, across the album's 10 nihilistic tracks, Thy Art are masters of their craft, as they deliver sharp stabs, guttural descents and groove with muscular athleticism and confidence. Frontman CJ McMahon gives his strongest performance ever as he belts through lyrics that thematically confront how cycles of violence continue over time and feelings of separation in a hyper-polarized world.

Thy Art Is Murder is thinking person's blackened death metal and it has challenged, provoked, and inspired audiences around the world. Through relentless hard work, Thy Art have become one of the most successful extreme metal bands Australia has ever produced, making history on their own terms. Backed by an uncompromising discography, the two-time ARIA-Award nominees have smashed chart records in their native country, becoming the first homegrown extreme metal act to debut in the Top 5 with 2017's Dear Desolation.

Their electrifying and incendiary performances have seen the band do countless laps of the globe, becoming tourmates with genre-titans like Cannibal Corpse, Slayer, Kreator, Lamb Of God, Killswitch Engage, and Parkway Drive, alongside playing crucial festivals like Summer Breeze, Download, Graspop, and Wacken.

Join Thy Art Is Murder when they enter Godlike mode this coming September.

Parmalee Reveals For You 2 Album Cover

With the release of their extended album, For You 2 arriving on September 22, Parmalee revealed the new album cover earlier today. Fans can pre-save-/pre-add the album here. Their current single “Girl In Mine,” is top 10 and climbing. The album has already yielded two No. 1 country singles including the double-Platinum “Just The Way,” featuring Blanco Brown, and the Platinum-certified “Take My Name,” which was Billboard’s Most Played Country Song of 2022.

The original album cover features the 1990 GMC-20 Vandura conversion van and a trailer they toured in for the first six years of their career. “We had a conversion van as a kid, so it always felt comfortable to me,” said leader singer Matt Thomas. “I remember we had to get a new trailer because the door kept coming off the hinges in the middle of night and we kept losing gear driving down the highway,” he laughed. “We’re excited to be releasing new music and continue our journey with For You 2.”

For You 2 offers five new songs including their current top 10 single “Girl In Mine.” The breezy track is “…the perfect song for a day out on the water or driving down a two-lane highway with the windows down,” said Taste of Country.

Another new track on For You 2 is the declarative “Boyfriend,” written by Matt along with fellow songwriters David Fanning, Ashley Gorley, Ben Johnson, Michael Hardy and Hunter Phelps. “The idea behind the song is something I feel like most guys have been through at least once in their life,” says Matt. “You’re in love with a girl but she’s with someone else who treats her bad. All you can think about is how if she was yours, you would treat her right and put a ring on her finger.”

Next week, Parmalee will take their hit-packed set on tour with Grammy Award winners Train, for a month-long set of shows. “We’re thrilled about the tour with Train, and we’ve been fans of them and their music for a long time,” said Matt. “They share a band mentality, just like we do, and I feel like we’re cut from the same cloth in a lot of ways. We’re excited to play our music for their fans.”

About Parmalee
Parmalee is one of Country music's most successful acts with three No. 1 singles, multiple Platinum records, and more than 1 Billion on-demand streams. Comprised of brothers Matt and Scott Thomas (lead vocals/guitar and drums, respectively), Cousin Barry Knox (bass), and life-long friend Josh McSwain, the North Carolina natives first topped the charts with “Carolina,” followed by their Platinum-certified No. 1 single with Blanco Brown, “Just The Way.” They followed with “Take My Name,” which was Billboard’s Most Played Country Song of 2022. Their latest single “Girl In Mine” is Top 10 and climbing. For more information, visit:

Tsjuder release new music video

For how cold and cruel their music has been for the past 30 years, Tsjuder have been on fire recently.

The torchbearers of true Norwegian black metal released their sixth album earlier this summer. 'Helvgr' proudly upholds Tsjuder's blatant unwillingness to compromise.
Angry Metal Guy dubbed it "another gnarly, kickass ride" that "gives absolutely no fucks what came before it or what will come after". In a five star review, Metal Sucks said the album is "exactly what we need right now - it is dangerous brutal, raw and uncompromising".

Today, Tsjuder are releasing a video for the title track off their new album. 'Helvegr' often means a journey or road that the souls of the deceased take after death. The video was recorded in Hallingdal, during a full moon, and casts a grim light over just how dark and treacherous it can get out in the Norwegian woods.

Watch the video for 'Helvegr' below!

'Helvegr' is out now. Order it from our store
HERE or download it HERE.

Since their inception in 1993, Oslo’s TSJUDER have been responsible for some of the most hate-filled ferocity perpetrated under the banner of TRUE NORWEGIAN BLACK METAL.

The band’s unholy fire was initially lit when founding members NAG (vocals/bass), BERSERK (guitar) and DRAUGLUIN (guitar) grew weary of playing death metal and sought out engorged levels of extremity to sate their increasingly profane ambitions. The time was ripe to inaugurate a ceaseless campaign committed to an uncompromising strain of brutally raw black metal, influenced by the primal thrash blasts of Sodom, Kreator, Destruction, Sarcófago and early Sepultura; black metal first wave trailblazers such as Bathory and Hellhammer; and, most vitally, Mayhem’s seminal Deathcrush, and Darkthrone’s game-changer, A Blaze in the Northern Sky.

Assuming the TSJUDER name, a moniker plundered from a mythical, murderous Northern tribe, various embryonic line-ups gathered around the all-conquering core of Nag and Draugluin, laying the fearsome foundations for what was to follow with two demos – Ved Ferdens Ende and Possessed – recorded between 1995-96. But it was with 1997’s EP, Throne of the Goat, that the black metal underground really began to sit up and take notice, the release establishing TSJUDER’s reputation as a blasphemous bulldozer hellbent on crushing the insipid and nostalgic in relentless blizzards of sub-zero riffage, punitive blast beats and blood-curdling screams.

Recordings for an inaugural full-length in 1999 were lost to a computer virus, but from the scavenged remnants of these sessions would emerge the Atum Nocturnem demo, an obnoxious foretaste of the group’s debut album, Kill For Satan, an international breakthrough slathered in slime-encrusted sacrilege. That damnable release saw the aptly-named ANTI-CHRISTIAN open his TSJUDER account, the drummer blasting a succession of gateways though the underworld, pulverising a punitive march to the band’s malevolent maelstroms.

Demonic Possession (2002) and Desert Northern Hell (2004) sustained the band’s focus on death, devils and destruction, while ratcheting up the production levels on a barbaric brace of flesh-strippers conjuring a landscape of frost-bitten wastes and foul abyssal realms. With the music press busy dishing out plaudits, the band’s burgeoning confederacy of fanatics were becoming desperate for some TSJUDER live action. Heeding the clarion, the band embarked on a full European tour with fellow countrymen Carpathian Forest. They also recorded a pair of gloriously powerful live performances in 2005, in Norway, which would subsequently be documented on the group’s NorwegianApocalypse DVD.

TSJUDER would take a deserved hiatus in 2006, with members finding other musical outlets for their creativity; Nag launching heretical black metal outfit KRYPT; Draugluin and Anti-Christian doing time with the thrashier TYRANN.

But it wouldn’t be long before the irresistible call of TSJUDER would exert itself once more. The band reconvened, reenergised and eager to make up for lost time, returning to live performances in 2010 before finally unleashing the mighty Legion Helvete (2011), a typically uncompromising comeback interspersed with pronounced Motörhead influences on punkish hyper-blasters such as ‘Slakt’.
It would be another four years before TSJUDER issued the merciless Antiliv(2015), a snarling lycanthropic howl of a record, heavy-loaded with vindictive black’n’roll swagger and lashings of buzzsaw guitar.

TSJUDER quickly set about creating the follow-up to Antiliv, but musical differences and protracted disputes led to a parting of the ways, with Anti-Christian bowing out after an impressive 20-year tenure with the group. Undaunted, Nag and Draughluin enlisted doyen tub-thumper JON RICE to provide the requisite drum artillery and continued to work on new recordings – fine-tuning guitar tones and sharpening mixes.

Then COVID-19 struck, the pandemic further stymieing the album’s release as the world tumbled from its fragile axis. But humanity is now benignly settling into its most chronic phase of perpetual abnormality and TSJUDER are steeled again to hoist their inverted cross above the barricades of conciliation. Their latest opus, Helvegr, is a devastatingly savage offering, one which fully adheres to the band’s eternal credo of “NO FUCKING COMPROMISE”.

THE VEER UNION Team with JODY BLACK on Alt-Metal Cover of BILLIE EILISH “You Should See Me In A Crown”!

Vancouver, BC Canada based, Alternative Rock band THE VEER UNION has joined forces with ROCK SHOP RECORDS label-mate JODY BLACK to cover the dark, 2019 BILLIE EILISH hit single, "You Should See Me in a Crown"! With the single produced by the band's lead vocalist, CRISPIN EARL, and video directed by JULIEN BOUFFARD, the alt-pop hit has been reconstructed with explosive vocals while building on the emotional horror of the original with monster guitar riffs and grinding, gut wrenching bass. "You Should See Me in a Crown" is the newest single off of the band's forthcoming album, Covers Collection Vol.2, which is set to release September 1, 2023 via ROCK SHOP RECORDS!

“At the core of our artistic journey lies a relentless pursuit of versatility. Our constant drive to push the boundaries, not only for ourselves but also for those who support us, is deeply ingrained in our approach. When we decided to take on Billie Eilish’s 'You Should See Me In A Crown,' we knew we were venturing into the shadows of a truly dark and track. Billie’s unique vocal delivery posed a challenge we couldn’t replicate, leading us to embrace the darkness and craft our own rendition. As a result, this cover became the heaviest track we have ever released. Collaborating with our good friend and label mate, Jody Black, was an absolute pleasure, and his contributions enriched the entire experience, making it a moment of collaborative unity that we will forever cherish.” - THE VEER UNION

Dalton Dover Revisits '90s Country with "Night To Go"

As current single “Giving Up On That” continues climbing the charts, MusicRow-dubbed “master country talent” Dalton Dover releases a new Friday night anthem with “Night To Go” via UMG Nashville/Mercury Records. Listen to the new song HERE.

“When I heard this song for the first time, it took me back to being a kid. This is the kind of music I grew up listening to,” shares Dover. “I wanted to do something that would make my ‘90s Country heroes proud.”

Written by Cole Taylor, Trea Landon, Shane Minor and Michael Carter, “Night To Go” is a nostalgic ‘90s barn burner with copious steel guitar, as Dover showcases his powerful voice and delivers the perfect night in the country:

It ain’t parking with your buddies at the same ol’ bar
Drinking all the same ol’ drinks
It ain’t hangin’ at the house all by yourself
       Staring at a football game
Well there’s a million different ways to burn some moonlight
But if you asked me there ain’t nothing like

Pick her up at seven, she climbs on in
Ride around a little to a country song
Pull into that county line and go
And go and get our cold beer on
Lean in for a kiss underneath the stars
Til the sun shows up, just hold her close
That’s about as good as a good ol’ boy
Would ever want a night to go

Dover’s first official single “
Giving Up On That” debuted as the most-added song at Country radio, with MusicRowcalling it “a solid winner,” boasting, “this power ballad of regret and yearning gives him a super showcase for his dynamic, whisper-to-a-scream vocal ability,” and of Dover, “make this man a star.”

Ahead of Mother’s Day, the Georgia native paid tribute to his mother with “
I Wouldn’t Be Here” and delivered a preview of the song as he shared his mom’s reaction to hearing it for the first time on his Instagram.

About Dalton Dover
Lauded by MusicRow as a “master country talent,” Dalton Dover’s current chart-climbing single “Giving Up On That” via UMG Nashville/Mercury Records was the most-added track at Country Radio upon its debut with 60 first week adds and garnered over 1 million streams in the first two weeks of its release. Dover recently released “Night To Go,” an upbeat barn-burner following “I Wouldn’t Be Here,” a song co-written with Russell Sutton and Dan Isabell for his mother. Named a Pandora 2023 Artist to Watch, an Amazon Music 2023 Breakthrough Artist to Watch: Country Class and a member of CMT’s LISTEN UP 2023 Class, Dover made his Grand Ole Opry debut in December 2022, followed by his international debut in 2023 at C2C: Country to Country Festival’s CMA Songwriters Series before joining Chase Rice on the Way Down Yonder Tour. This summer, Dover performed across four stages at CMA Fest, including the Nissan Stadium Platform stage and played Luke Combs’ Whiskey Jam Bootleggers Tailgate Party at Gillette Stadium in July. Dover is currently on the road with select dates supporting Tyler Hubbard, Parker McCollum and Priscilla Block among festival performances. By the age of 16, Dover had picked up a guitar and started teaching himself to play, yet it was his grandfather who turned him on to country music and artists such as Keith Whitley, Rhett Akins, Joe Diffie and Steve Wariner. Performances at local bars soon followed along with sharing covers of some of his favorite songs on TikTok. It was there he caught the ear of producer Matt McV and A&R veteran and founder of Droptine, Jim Catino, who quickly signed Dover. His debut track “You Got a Small Town,” produced by McV, quickly garnered critical acclaim from Billboard, MusicRow, Country Now and Wide Open Country. With his debut and his follow-up “Baby I Am” earning notable playlisting, Dover was named a Spotify Hot Country 2022 Artist to Watch along with a spotlight as Billboard’s February Country Rookie of the Month and a nod for MusicRow’s 2022 Discovery Artist of the Year. Kurt Deimer Releases New Single "Doom" on August 11, 2023; Announces Tour Dates with Skid Row and Buckcherry!

Kurt Deimer released his brand new single "Doom" to all major platforms along with the official music video today, August 11, 2023. Kurt has also announced that he will be heading out on select tour dates with Skid Row and Buckcherry.

“'Doom' is a song I wrote for my movie coming soon called Hellbilly Hollow. It’s a feature film and part of a franchise that I created a couple years ago. 'Doom' will be featured as a big single from the movie and soundtrack and I thought it was very appropriate to write 'Doom' for the movie because it exposes the dark side of the horror, and the dark side of heroin addiction, and the problem that it has become in our society. Heroin is just one of the many drug issues we face. By incorporating its dark connotations and themes of what addiction like that can bring and capture the description of that with words and other visual aspects that you might see in a horror film, I felt was very compelling. Blending the darkness of addiction and the darkness of horror, into one song I feel makes it powerful and explosive. I want to touch people in many ways not only in the vehicle of horror movies as a lead track, but also expose people to think about what we can do to help those or help with the issue of heroin addiction. That my friends is 'Doom,''' says Kurt Deimer.

In a world that seems to be spiraling out of control, Kurt Deimer is a man with a very clear mission: Work Hard, Rock Hard, Play hard and Spread positivity. In fact, his mantra could be summed up: “Take the high road, do the right thing, encourage others.” It sounds like a tall order these days in a world full of warring factions. And it’s an unusual mission for a singer/songwriter vocalist whose music could be described as hard rock, even heavy metal – genres that are not always synonymous with positivity.

Deimer, for his part, describes his work as good old fashioned rock and roll. “And it’s as good a vehicle as any for spreading good vibes” he says. “I’m here to encourage others to treat people with respect, dignity and kindness,” he says. “I’ve been through a lot of things in my life and I try to share that with others and be a beacon of hope for my listeners.”

That positivity and perseverance has paid off for the native of Cincinnati, Ohio. He’s not only launched a movie franchise, Hellbilly Hollow, by filming and starring in a feature length horror film of the same name. He’s also recorded more than two dozen songs with legendary producer Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, James Brown and the Rolling Stones), his management team includes Brian Wheat, manager of TESLA who discovered him while opening for TESLA.

Chris Lord-Alge says he was drawn to Kurt’s originality as an artist. “I saw something completely different in Kurt, and that was the lure for me. He isn’t a typical rock or country artist – I love hearing him talk and narrating a story, and I was drawn to taking those stories and helping turn them into music. He’s a personality, he’s someone you want to talk to.”

Things have not always been positive in Deimer’s world. At age 20, as a young rock vocalist, he found himself in the grips of drug addiction. He later discovered he was using substances to medicate an underlying anxiety condition. At that young age, he quit drugs, got help for his anxiety and never looked back.

He eventually started buying and selling rental properties and used that money to start the first of several successful companies he owns. Despite making his mark in the business world, Deimer didn’t feel ready to settle down and “join the country club and play golf all day” – so at an age when most people start thinking about slowing down, he started to speed up.

Inspired by the artists that helped shape him – Boston, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Marley and AC/DC, to name just a few – he started writing song lyrics.

Inspired by his love of movies and acting roles in films including the 2018 ‘Halloween’ remake – where his character was killed by Michael Myers – and John Travolta’s ‘Trading Paint,’ he started hashing out a movie concept that became his eventual Hellbilly Hollow feature film and franchise.

Deimer has supported Geoff Tate on an expansive cross-country tour that highlighted material from his debut EP, that came out on November 19, 2021, which includes a duet with Tate and a trilogy of music videos directed by Scottish filmmaker Paul Boyd [Sting, Deadmau5, The Cult] that spotlight Deimer’s cinematic vision and charismatic presence. Along with many other supporting shows including TESLA, Drowning Pool and Yngwie Malmsteen all this within the first two years of touring.

For Deimer, the inspiration is to make the world a better place one song at a time, singing about the ills of the 21st century and offering solutions instead of excuses. “When people listen to my music, I want to help them decompress and feel better after a brutal day. That’s what music always did for me, and that’s what we need more of today.”

Spanish Thrashers ANGELUS APATRIDA Share Video for New Single "Cold," Announce New Album

Spanish trash metal masters ANGELUS APATRIDA will be releasing their eighth studio album, 'Aftermath,' on October 20, 2023 via Century Media Records! In celebration, the band is now sharing the ripping new single, "Cold," along with an intense music video! The clip, which was scripted and directed by Juan Castillo, J. L. Auñón and Lalo Davia / Kameo Producciones, can be seen below.

Regarding "Cold," the thrashers' comment, "Our new album ‘Aftermath' has a very compact flow and loads of powerful songs. And it took ages for all the people involved in the production to choose the singles; all of the 10 songs are singles themselves! But 'Cold' might be the ideal first one to introduce this new album, because it has all the Angelus Apatrida ingredients to make this song a new Metal Hymn. Very deep and strong lyrics plus an amazing video story makes this track a perfect starting point. But, trust me, the whole album is a mind-blowing combination of our best-songs-ever.”

'Aftermath' follows Angelus Apatrida's 2021 eponymous full-length, which topped the official album charts in Spain at # 1! The release also debuted in Germany at # 49 and Switzerland at # 41.

'Aftermath' features a diverse cast of guest appearances by vocalist Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed), guitarist Pablo García (Warcry), singer Todd La Torre (Queensrÿche) and rapper Sho-Hai. The album was once again self-produced by the band, with recordings handled by Juanan López at Baboon Records in Albacete, Spain and mixing and mastering by Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Overkill, Hatebreed, Municipal Waste, Shadows Fall) at Planet-Z in Wilbraham, MA, USA.)

Pre-orders for 'Aftermath' are now live HERE.

“Aftermath” will be available in as Ltd. CD Jewelcase in O-Card packaging for its first pressing and Digital Album with two fresh live bonus tracks (11. Indoctrinate (Live in Bilbao 2023) and 12. Give ‘Em War (Live in Barcelona 2023)), or as 180g vinyl LP in the following variants: Ltd. transp. red LP (300x copies from cmdistro and various other retailers), Ltd. transp. orange LP (600x copies from amazon.es & Angelus Apatrida), Ltd. translucent tan colored LP (500x copies from all US outlets) and as Black LP.

Previously, Angelus Apatrida released a documentary that was directed by Mike Casey, entitled '28 Months Later: A Post-Apocalyptic Metal Documentary.' The film detailed the band's journey from preparing for 2021's self-titled opus leading towards the creation of 'Aftermath.' The clip can be seen HERE.

The world has taken a battering over the last few years, but ANGELUS APATRIDA is leading the fightback.

Spain’s greatest ever exponents of forward-thinking thrash metal began their campaign at the turn of the century and have been a consistent force for heavy music ever since. From their ferocious 2006 debut album 'Evil Unleashed' and 2010’s widely acclaimed 'Clockwork' (the band’s first for Century Media), to more recent triumphs like 2018’s 'Cabaret de la Guillotine,' ANGELUS APATRIDA has become increasingly unstoppable. In 2023, they will release 'Aftermath,' a vicious and vital response to the chaos we see all around us.

With touring plans for 2020 cancelled, ANGELUS APATRIDA simply switched focus to the creative process. The result was 'Angelus Apatrida,' a self-titled record that sought to redefine its creators’ era-blending sound, with renewed intensity and uproarious lyrical sensibilities that dug deep into the realities of the modern world. Climbing to the top of the official album charts in Spain at # 1 as well as marking the band’s first ever chart entries in Germany at # 49 and Switzerland at # 41 upon release in 2021, the album showcased a band at the peak of their powers. Understandably, ANGELUS APATRIDA were absolutely itching to get back on the road, which they eventually did with a vengeance.

“We started doing some shows trying to keep things going until the summer of 2021, and then at the end of the year we were able to do some important venues and festivals,” recalls guitarist/vocalist Guillermo Izquierdo. “We spent 2022 and 2023 touring, mostly in Europe and North America. We’ve played Hellfest, Graspop, Dynamo, Resurrection Fest, Rock Fest and Leyendas del Rock, and we did our first headlining tour in the U.S. and Canada. In February 2023 we did the last four dates of the tour in Spain with four total sell outs!”

Clearly one of the hardest-working bands in metal, ANGELUS APATRIDA were not content with simply returning to the live arena. Even as they toured, work on their next album began. Pre-production for 'Aftermath' was finished in March 2023, and the band swiftly hit the studio in their hometown of Albacete, once again collaborating with trusted live and studio engineer Juanan López on the capturing of these new metal explosions. The finished tracks were then sent to the legendary Zeuss (Rob Zombie/Overkill/Hatebreed) at Planet-Z in Wilbraham, Massachusetts and polished to a devastating sheen. The results speak for themselves: 'Aftermath' is titanium-plated modern thrash of the highest order.

“Every time we sit down and write new music, we try to do the best we can and to put all the new things and experiences we had over the last few years into the mix,” says Guillermo. “The new songs are pure ANGELUS APATRIDA. They’ve got every single essence of the band. There are many songs containing more personal feelings than on previous records. We’re going deep into our souls and feelings sometimes. Since we are living strange, difficult and dark times, we liked the concept of an aftermath. After everything that has happened since 2020 and is still happening in the world, in our society, and in our lives, a lot of strong feelings have come through in the music and lyrics.”

'Aftermath' is undoubtedly the most heartfelt and powerful record in ANGELUS APATRIDA’s illustrious history, but it’s also one of the heaviest and most direct. From the neck-wrecking adrenaline rush of opener "Scavenger" to the dark might of the closing "Vultures And Butterflies," the Spanish quartet’s eighth studio record displays the songwriting muscle and playing prowess of bands like Metallica, Testament and Pantera, while still delivering a huge, jolting dose of ANGELUS APATRIDA’s distinctive trademark attack.

“We can describe 'Aftermath' as what metal means to us,” Guillermo says. “It contains the best songs we've ever written. It is just very difficult to pick just one or two highlights on this album since every single track could be a single itself.”

Confirming their sturdy reputation in the global metal scene, ANGELUS APATRIDA invited some heavyweight figures to add their talents to 'Aftermath.' Hatebreed’s iconic frontman Jamey Jasta lends his caustic bark to "Snob," while Queensrÿche vocalist Todd La Torre lends his spectacular tones to "Vultures And Butterflies." Elsewhere, Pablo Garcia, guitarist with Spanish power metal legends Warcry, displays his virtuosity on the incendiary "Fire Eyes," and Spanish rap star Sho-Hai brings the noise on the brooding "What Kills Us All. "

With no need to regain momentum, ANGELUS APATRIDA is more ready than most to let rip again in 2023. 'Aftermath' marks a pinnacle in this band’s determined and always fruitful career. It’s a defiant, uplifting and resolutely metal-as-fuck response to an era defined by chaos and fear. It’s the sound of ANGELUS APATRIDA, doing what they do, but bigger, better, louder and with more passion than ever.

“As soon as the album is released, we are starting a huge live campaign,” adds Guillermo. “We start with a big European tour that will cover most of the mainland and the U.K., and we are already working on getting back to Oceania and Asia, Latin America and making our return to the United States and Canada during the first half of 2024. Expect a great live festival season for summer 2024 and more tours! We’re coming!”

HUNTERGIRL RELEASES POWERFUL NEW BALLAD “AIN’T ABOUT YOU”

Showing the limitless bounds of her artistry, American Idol runner-up HunterGirl today releases her most powerful song yet with the hauntingly beautiful and self-written Ain’t About You.” Listen now HERE.

"If there's anybody out there right now thinking about giving up on a dream or something they love, I hope they listen to this song and think twice about it," says HunterGirl. "We're all here to do something special."

The songstress, who grew up winning singing and songwriting competitions and cutting her teeth performing on Lower Broadway, came home from back-to-back writing sessions one day with an ache she just couldn’t shake. Seeing the success of her friends - signing record and publishing deals - she couldn’t help but wonder if she was on the right path, still chasing her musical dream in Nashville, when she hadn’t made much leeway.

Discouraged with a breaking heart, trembling voice and eyes filled with tears, she put pen to paper for a 45-minute conversation with Jesus. Entirely self-written just two weeks before she auditioned for ABC’s American Idol, the hauntingly honest words of “Ain’t About You” flooded out of her like a resounding prayer, reminding her there’s “purpose in the wait.”

Scared of rejection, she kept the song a secret, until she finally had some liquid courage and sang it for American Idol winners Chayce Beckham and Noah Thompson at a BBQ cookout where they were passing around a guitar. It wasn’t until she heard their shocked response and fervent encouragement that she finally decided it was time to share it:

What if there’s a heart who needs some hope

And finds it in the words that you almost never wrote

So before you say you’re not good enough

That all your dreams are wishing dust

You call it quits, walk away, and say you’re through

What if it ain’t about you

A gutsy and prolific songwriter, her work with veterans’ organizations where she uses music therapy to transform warrior’s stories into songs allowed her to give in whole-heartedly to her emotions, writing the song with pure honesty, not worrying about fitting it into a certain mold.

Fast forward just weeks after she wrote “Ain’t About You,” the rising star won 2nd place on American Idol, signed a record deal with 19 Recordings/BBR Music Group/Wheelhouse Records and co-headlined a pack-out tour. Now, the beautifully honest song that started everything, “Ain’t About You” - produced by Lindsay Rimes (Kane Brown, Kelsea Ballerini) - is available now.

About HunterGirl:

A Tennessee native, singer/songwriter HunterGirl has been performing since she was three years old and writing songs since she was 9. In her early teens, she performed at venues across the United States, competed in singing competitions and won the 2014 Texaco Country Showdown. After graduating high school, she moved to Nashville and immediately started playing gigs at Nashville’s most famous venues including Tootsie’s, Rippy’s, Jason Aldean’s Bar, The Listening Room, and HonkyTonk Central, winning songwriting contests such as “Nash Next” and the prestigious “Nashville Songwriter Association International” in her spare time. Due to having family members who served in the military, HunterGirl holds a deep admiration for our Country’s armed forces and tenaciously works with many veteran organizations, where she uses music therapy to transform veterans’ stories into songs. She’s shared the stage with Country superstars Old Dominion, Florida Georgia Line, Kane Brown, Alan Jackson, Lainey Wilson, Trace Adkins, Charlie Daniels, Sara Evans and more. Last year, she competed on American Idol, where the “country singer with a bright future” (Hollywood Life) delivered standout performances that Taste of Country called “impressive,” “shining,” “chill-worthy,” and “glowing,” winning the hearts of millions across the country. Praised by Idol judge and Country superstar Luke Bryan as the “new age Miranda Lambert” and his “favorite female Country voice,” “HunterGirl has wowed the Country music community since she stepped foot onto the American Idol stage” (Billboard). “Despite missing out on the win, her crooning vocals and intimate original song, ‘Red Bird,’ has made her one to watch in the Country scene (American Songwriter). Skyrocketing to No. 1 on iTunes All-Genre and Country charts, “the budding Country star” (Taste of Country) performed her heartfelt and deeply personal original track “Red Bird” on Live with Kelly & Ryan and has appeared on Good Morning America. Now, with the release of her label debut tracks “Hometown Out Of Me,” “Lonely Outta You” and the hauntingly powerful “Ain’t About You,” driven by her distinct and genuine vocals, unwavering tenacity, and heart of gold, HunterGirl is on the fast track to becoming Country’s next big female artist.

Locket Share "Blame My Brain"

Canadian alt rock band Locket recently announced their new album and second full-length Superluminal, out November 10 via Fearless Records. Pre-order it here.

The band has shared another single from the album, this time in the form of the power pop anthem "Blame My Brain." It's got big hooks, bold harmonies, and it's brimming with melodies. It's incredibly catchy but also boasts hard-charging guitars to give it an extra edge.

Listen to the song and watch the visualizer
below.

"This song is about being so used to keeping thoughts to yourself, that by the time you're ready to open up or express yourself, the words escape you," says frontman Brad Garcia. "Almost like the introvert in me is keeping the extrovert at arm's length, but never closer. I'm envious of people I know who are able to express themselves so effortlessly. I'm sure people who grew up in similar households —  sharing wasn't really a part of the routine — can relate. Lyrics aside, this song was a perfect exercise for honing in on who we are, or were, when we started writing the record back in 2021. It's familiar territory explored through whatever lens we had at the time. Power chords and vocoders? Sure, why not."

Locket also performed their song "Sonic Bloom" for The Recording Academy's Press Play series. Watch it
here.

Recording their second full-length, Garcia states, "When 'band world' got put on pause back in 2020, it almost felt like a sigh of relief. We found this sense of freedom in being able to just write music for no other reason than writing music. With real pressure we could just write riffs, not overthink anything. And I think because of that, sonically, the record feels so authentically us."

He continues, "Thematically, I approached writing this record from this place of not knowing what's next (for the band or for ourselves as individuals). It ended up being this cathartic process of learning to deal with this central part of your life being forced across a tightrope, and ultimately learning to be alright if it slips and falls apart, because it might make way for a new chapter. We started writing this album as band guys in our twenties. By the time it comes out we'll be in our thirties, married, with a clearer understanding of who we are as people that have this insane privilege of making music together where people actually listen. We don't take that for granted. Also, we all think the album fuckin' rocks, so that's probably the most important thing."

Locket, whose core members (Garcia, guitarist Cory Bergeron and bassist Travis Morrison) have achieved more than they ever could have dreamed of when they started out 10 years ago in a band under a different name. Once reforming as Locket, they released the album All Out in late 2019. The record earned positive press from publications including Billboard, The Alternative, and New Noise, and the single "Hunnie" has racked up more than 1.6 million Spotify streams.

KATAKLYSM GOLIATH OUT NOW + RELEASE MUSIC VIDEO FOR 'DARK WINGS OF DECEPTION'

"Aggressive and contemptuous of division and dysfunction, 'Goliath' is also everything you could want and expect from a Kataklysm record, marrying thrash, punk, and melodeath into a lean muscular whole.
Metal Hammer (UK)

“Unique, powerful, and uncompromising sound! With ‘Goliath’, Kataklysm confirms once again its status of one of the best devastated Metal bands ever!”
Metallian (FR)

"Violent, searing, frenzied cadence, dense and limpid sound. 'Goliath' is as uncompromising as it is memorable!”
 Loud TV (FR)

“KATAKLYSM set a big, fat example with their most exciting piece since ‘Waiting For The End To Come’.”
Metal Hammer (GER) (Album of the Month #1 Soundcheck position)

"'Goliath' is a loud and powerful statement from a band showing no signs of slowing down yet (literally or figuratively)."
Metal Storm (US)

For almost three decades, the US/French Canadian-based melodic death metal syndicate KATAKLYSM has delivered unapologetic waves of powerful sound across the entire globe. The band’s fifteenth full-length studio album, Goliath, is now available for the masses via Nuclear Blast Records.

In celebration of the album release, KATAKLYSM offers fans the music video for 'Dark Wings Of Deception' directed by David Brodsky for My Good Eye: Music Visuals (

Watch the music video for 'Dark Wings Of Deception', here:

Goliath was recorded at JFD Studios in Dallas, TX and Studio City, CA as well as The Cabin in Orlando, FL by J-F Dagenais, who also produced and engineered the album. For the mixing and mastering, the band returned to Chris Clancy with assistance from Colin Richardson. The cover artwork required an image that captured the iconic battle of David versus Goliath theme that is echoed throughout the album while matching the power of the music. The band enlisted renowned Berlin metal illustrator Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE) to create the artwork which took the KATAKLYSM look and gave it a macabre filter that compliments the brooding sense of uneasiness that was felt during the writing and recording of the album.
