CHASE RICE’S “BENCH SEAT” MUSIC VIDEO CONTINUES TO IMPRESS AS AWARDS SEASON APPROACHES

16 Film Festival Selections Including Cannes World Film Festival, Onrios Film Festival, Benelux International Film Festival; 6 Awards & Counting

Emotional Song Inspired by a True Story Featured on Critically Acclaimed Album I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell

When Chase Rice’s longtime friend came to him with an idea for a song about “a guy and his dog driving around together,” the Diamond-certified songwriter laughed. “That cliché was exactly the type of thing I was trying to avoid on this album,” Rice remembers. And yet, once he sat down with his acoustic guitar to craft what would become one of four solo writes on the critically acclaimed project, the result was anything but cliché. With “Bench Seat” and its corresponding music video, Rice pays tribute to that friend – and the dog that saved his life.

“My buddy was in a really dark place – to the point where he was ready to end his own life. It took a lot for him to take me back to that moment, but when he told me what stopped him it stopped me in my tracks: his dog came and laid his head on his lap, and that connection saved him,” Rice explains. “I wrote this song by myself with the point of view from the dog’s perspective – which might not be obvious right away – and what that moment might have meant for the two of them if not for that intervention.”

Building upon the emotional backstory of the song celebrated by the Tennessean as what “could be, by the end of 2023, one of the surprise candidates for Song of the Year." The
official music video directed by Kaiser Cunningham offers a seven-plus-minute short film spotlighting the mental health struggle that affects countless people. The video’s intention is to encourage viewers to feel comfortable talking about the topic and seeking the assistance they need, with its conclusion pointing to available resources via wannatalkaboutit.com and encouraging anyone in crisis to call/text 988.

“For the first time in my career, I could envision the whole video as I was writing the song,” notes Rice. “I wanted to shine a light on the topic of mental health because this is something that makes way too many people feel alone and especially when addiction becomes part of the picture, one bad moment can have horrible consequences. I personally know how hard it can be to ask for help when you need it. I hope this helps start a few more conversations and helps people know they really aren’t alone."

“When my friend was in that moment, it was impossible to see anything but the heaviness. He was able to get the help he needed, though, and now he’s living a beautiful life and starting a family. That’s what this video is really about – showing you the potential for a happy end to the story if you are able to find a way to get help through the dark times.”

“As a director, it was imperative that we found certain angles, dynamic camera movements and a very specific look that makes the viewer feel the emotion the song itself delivers,” adds Cunningham. “I hope that everyone who watches this video realizes the importance of mental health. In my own life, having friends of mine from the Marine Corps commit suicide, it was an important message that I stand behind. If you need help, please get it. There’s always someone in your corner."

“The response has been overwhelming – from the film festivals to the media feedback – however more importantly the comments on the video from fans,” Cunningham continues. “These are real people, with real stories, and I’m incredibly grateful we could make a project that has had such an impact on people's lives and their stories.

Thus far, the “Bench Seat” video has been selected for 16 film festivals, taking home six awards while being named a semi-finalist and a finalist twice each – and counting.

The powerful song is one of 14 tracks on Rice’s latest album, I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, which also features current single “Bad Day To Be A Cold Beer.” Recorded during an immersive two-week period at Rice’s farm outside Nashville with producer Oscar Charles and a live band using a makeshift recording setup, the album ranges from admiration of a Western way of life to emotional reckoning, showcasing a more raw, vulnerable side of the man praised by Sports Illustrated for “his wild ride to redemption” than on any of his previous studio projects.

With the critically acclaimed album I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell crafted in his rural Tennessee home-turned-studio available everywhere now, Rice’s sound continues to evolve to reflect the realities of his life; from emotional reckoning to an admiration of the Western way of life. The new music, including current single “Bad Day To Be A Cold Beer,” serves as a follow up to his three-part project, The Album, featuring his latest Platinum-certified No. 1 hit, “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen. (feat. Florida Georgia Line)” and Platinum-certified Top 10 hit “Lonely If You Are.” This is the same gravelly-voiced Chase Rice fans first fell in love with years ago – but better, freer; unbeholden and uninhibited. The new music builds upon the success of his sophomore album, Lambs & Lions, which featured the Triple Platinum, two-week chart topper “Eyes On You” – Rice’s first No. 1 as an artist and the most-streamed song of his career. Lambs & Lions followed Platinum-certified Ignite the Night, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums and No. 3 on the all-genre chart, producing a pair of Top 5 hits; Platinum-certified “Gonna Wanna Tonight” and Double Platinum “Ready Set Roll.” In addition to guesting on sold-out stadium shows with Kenny Chesney and Garth Brooks, Rice consistently sells out venues on his own headlining tours, including the recently-wrapped Way Down Yonder Tour in support of his new music, and will join both Jelly Roll and Old Dominion for arena shows later this year.

Lead Single “Bad Day To Be A Cold Beer” Impacting Country Radio Now

With February’s release of his fourth studio album, I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, Diamond-certified songwriter Chase Rice re-introduced himself to fans and critics alike, earning early praise for the standout project offering 13 tracks – all of which feature Rice as a songwriter, including three solo writes.

Building on living room songwriting sessions centered around just his acoustic guitar, Rice took the same approach into the recording process with producer Oscar Charles. Forgoing a traditional studio, Rice and Charles turned his rural home into their 24/7 workspace, bringing in a live band with no click track to capture a rugged, authentic sound over the course of an immersive two-week session – all of which was captured on camera for fans to now witness.

With 10 episodes directed by Kaiser Cunningham releasing in installments each Tuesday – beginning with episodes one through three today, May 16 (
WATCH HERE) – fans will have access to never-before-seen footage that shows Rice crafting what the Tennessean praises as his “best album yet,” noting that despite “a glass ceiling both he and the industry had imposed on his career, he's clearly blasted through that impediment” and even remarking of standout track “Bench Seat,” “the touching country ballad could be, by the end of 2023, one of the surprise candidates for Song of the Year.”

PopCulture asserts that the project is already “the best country album of the year… and everybody’s got to live up to it,” remarking of the recording process now revealed on camera that instead of following the traditional “if it’s not broke don’t fix it” approach, “Rice and his team, somehow, simultaneously broke it AND fixed it — both on purpose.”

Cowboys & Indians further celebrates I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell for its “risk-taking and rule breaking approach,” proclaiming, “that gamble has paid off handsomely, resulting in vulnerable and personal music.” Billboard agrees, noting the album “refines his artistic voice,” creating an offering that is “still propulsive with arena-ready moments, but is laced with deeper, more introspective themes.”

With all 13 songs on the album featured in the setlist on his
Way Down Yonder Tour, gracing sold-out venues across the country, Rice has also delivered summer anthem “Bad Day To Be A Cold Beer” as the lead single impacting Country radio now. In addition to sharing an unreleased song, “Church,” the first he’s written since releasing the new project, Rice was joined onstage for album track “Oklahoma” by surprise guest Read Southall, who also appears alongside him on the recorded version of the song praised by PopCulture as “one of the absolute best songs in Rice’s entire musical repertoire.” He also invited a special guest onstage for the poignant “Bench Seat,” as Rice’s beloved dog Jack appeared to the delight of fans for his performance of the powerful song about the companionship a dog can offer, with the Tennesseean declaring, “the touching country ballad could be, by the end of 2023, one of the surprise candidates for Song of the Year.”

Chase Rice's 'I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell' Available Now

CHASE RICE SHARES INTROSPECTIVE STORIES
OF LOVE, REGRET AND REDEMPTION WITH NEW ALBUM

I HATE COWBOYS & ALL DOGS GO TO HELL
AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE NOW

With today's release of I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, chart-topping singer/songwriter Chase Rice is poised for a career-defining moment with the album already earning praise as his best work to date. Born out of the recent time away from the roar of sold-out crowds, the project is the result of Rice's realization that despite career milestones including RIAA Diamond certification as a songwriter, numerous multi-Platinum hits and three No. 1s at Country radio to his name, he still had more to offer creatively – both to fans and to himself.

“People always say that Nashville is a 10-year town; that it usually takes 10 years of grinding to finally reach that moment of breakthrough success,” reflects Rice, “For me, though, I was part of a group of songwriters that found lightning in a bottle immediately when I moved to town. It was a wild ride that I hung onto and tried to replicate as much as I could. What I’ve realized, though, is that I never identified who I am as my own artist. Now, a decade later, I know that my 10 years in this town were all about discovering my true self and getting to this point of releasing an album that I can honestly say reflects the man I want to be from start to finish.”

Offering 13 tracks, all of which feature Rice as a songwriter (including three solo writes), I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell showcases a raw, passionate side of the man praised by Sports Illustrated for “his wild ride to redemption” and honors his late father, Daniel Rice, with its cover art.

“My dad was one of those good guys you read about – tough, hardworking, always helping other people out,” Rice notes of the man gracing the album cover. “I try to live my life in a way that would make him proud. I haven't always measured up to that, but I get closer to that man I want to be and the man he’d be proud of every single day.

“Making this album was a big step towards that musically, too,” he continues. “Not only is it the most vulnerable I've ever been, it’s also something he’d enjoy listening to and is full of stories I wish I could tell him. I’ve always wanted to honor him by using this photo as an album cover, and I know this project is the one that deserves that.”

Building on solo songwriting sessions with just his acoustic guitar, plus trips with friends where songs were born from real life as opposed to Music Row writing appointments, Rice took the same approach into the recording process with producer Oscar Charles. Forgoing a traditional studio, Rice and Charles turned his rural home into their 24/7 workspace, bringing in a live band with no click track to capture a rugged, authentic sound over the course of an immersive two-week session.

Opening with the timeless message of true love’s power on “Walk That Easy,” the album immediately makes clear that this is a different sonic product than any previous offerings from Rice, as does lead single “Way Down Yonder” with a funky, carnival-sounding guitar line repeating throughout the track and lyrics based on true moonshining history building to the infectious chorus.

Life Part of Living,” meanwhile, summarizes the album’s overall theme of love, regret and redemption in its opening verse (“I’ve had a lot of good years I missed as they rolled on by / Now here I am just a kid goin’ on 35 / I’ve played my songs and played my part, played it wrong and played some hearts / Lived the highs, lows, in betweens of this thing called life”). Rice offers a similarly contemplative performance on introspective anthem “I Walk Alone,” with the lyrical imagery serving as an autobiographical metaphor for his own musical journey, building to a climax during the goosebump-inducing final third as he lets loose vocally.

Clocking in at nearly eight minutes in length, standout track “Oklahoma” (featuring the Sooner State’s own Read Southall Band), also builds to an impressive climax; opening as a haunting Wild West ballad and concluding with a three minute, surging instrumental outro to fully illustrate the impressive dynamic of the live band recording in Rice’s own living room.

Celebrated by Billboard as “one of his most earnest vocal deliveries to date,” “Key West & Colorado” served as an early preview of the album along with “Bench Seat,” written alone by Rice as an emotional ode to the power of a dog’s love and released recently along with a heart-wrenching music video spotlighting mental health. Another solo write and early preview, “If I Were Rock & Roll” was the first song written for the project. Initially released as a single in late 2021 and now appearing as a reimagined version on the album, it sees Rice reflecting on the people and memories that have shaped him – as well as the areas in which he’s fallen short.

Despite the emotional heft, the album also features points of high-energy punctuation while maintaining a mature musicality, including with a a fresh take on a tried-and-true Country music theme. Feel-good singalong “Goodnight Nancy” (featuring Boy Named Banjo) celebrates the local “roadhouse queen,” while “Bad Day To Be A Cold Beer” introduces a new cowriter to Nashville via PGA Champion Justin Thomas, whose simple statement during a day together on the golf course – “Boys, it’s a bad day to be a cold beer” – now finds permanence on Rice’s album.

The humorous honky-tonk apology of “Sorry Momma” offers another light moment with a singalong chorus and jangly piano as Rice delivers a heartfelt message to the woman who did everything she could to keep a brood of three rowdy boys in line, concluding, “Lord knows I’m to blame, so I’m sorry Momma for the hell you raised.”

The tongue-in-cheek lyricism is perhaps most evident on one half of the album’s title, “All Dogs Go To Hell,” which illustrates how painful it can be to watch love leave by weaving a web of lies to reveal a man in denial as the chorus peaks (“I don’t miss you baby, and all dogs go to hell”), and on “I Hate Cowboys,” the other half of the project’s title, bringing the album to an emphatic close by flipping the truth on its head with an ode to how enviable cowboys really are.

“I’m at the place in my life now where I just want people to know who I really am as opposed to who they think I am,” Rice summarized the 13-song offering to PopCulture. “I think this record's a good start.”

Soon, fans will get to hear the new music live on Rice’s Way Down Yonder Tour, set to visit iconic venues such as Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, Boston’s House of Blues and Athens’ Georgia Theatre beginning March 3.

Chase Rice Reveals Emotional "Bench Seat" Accompanied by Short Film Music Video Spotlighting Mental Health

When Chase Rice’s longtime friend came to him with an idea for a song about “a guy and his dog driving around together,” the Diamond-certified songwriter laughed. “That cliché was exactly the type of thing I was trying to avoid on this album,” Rice remembers. And yet, once he sat down with his acoustic guitar to craft what would become one of three solo writes on the forthcoming project, the result was anything but cliché. With “Bench Seat,” available everywhere now, Rice pays tribute to that friend – and the dog that saved his life.

Building upon the emotional backstory of the song, the official music video directed by Kaiser Cunningham offers a seven-plus-minute short film spotlighting the mental health struggle that affects countless people.

I personally know how hard it can be to ask for help when you need it, but I hope this helps start a few more conversations and lets people know they really aren’t alone.

The powerful song is one of 13 tracks on Rice’s forthcoming album, I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, set for release Feb. 10 and showcasing a more raw, vulnerable side of the man praised by Sports Illustrated for “his wild ride to redemption” than on any of his previous studio projects. Recorded during an immersive two-week period at Rice’s farm outside Nashville with producer Oscar Charles and a live band using a makeshift recording setup, the album ranges from admiration of a Western way of life in recent releases “I Hate Cowboys” and “Way Down Yonder” to emotional reckoning in “Key West & Colorado” and today’s “Bench Seat.”

Soon, fans will get to hear the new music live on Rice’s Way Down Yonder Tour, set to visit iconic venues such as Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, Boston’s House of Blues and Athens’ Georgia Theatre beginning March 3.

About Chase Rice
With nearly 2.4 million albums sold and over 2.4 billion total streams, plus a legion of passionate fans at his high-energy concerts across the globe, Chase Rice has established himself as a powerful force in Nashville and beyond. With the forthcoming album I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell crafted in his rural Tennessee home-turned-studio, his sound continues to evolve to reflect the realities of his life, as evidenced by recent releases “Bench Seat,” “Way Down Yonder,” “I Hate Cowboys” and “Key West & Colorado.” The new music serves as a follow up to his three-part project, The Album, featuring his latest Platinum-certified No. The new music builds upon the success of his sophomore album, Lambs & Lions, which featured the triple-Platinum, two-week chart topper “Eyes On You” – Rice’s first No. 1 as an artist and the most-streamed song of his career. Lambs & Lions followed Ignite the Night, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums and No. 3 on the all-genre chart, producing a pair of Top 5 hits; “Gonna Wanna Tonight” and Platinum-certified “Ready Set Roll.” In addition to guesting on sold out arena tours with Kane Brown and Jason Aldean plus stadium shows with Kenny Chesney and Garth Brooks, Rice is set to get back on the road this spring in support of the new music. Chase Rice Brings "Way Down Yonder" to ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tomorrow, Jan. 12

CHASE RICE BRINGS “WAY DOWN YONDER” TO
ABC’S JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE! TOMORROW, JANUARY 12

Forthcoming Album
I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell Set for Release February 10

Way Down Yonder Tour Kicks Off March 3

Multi-Platinum singer/songwriter Chase Rice returns to ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! with outlaw anthem “Way Down Yonder” tomorrow, January 12 from his forthcoming album I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, set for release February 10. Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs at 11:35/10:35pm CT on ABC.

“When we wrote this song, I had the mountains of North Carolina where I grew up in mind; all the moonshining history there in the Appalachians,” recalls Rice. “Then all of a sudden during the recording process, Rob McNelley started playing this crazy carnival sound on the acoustic… and it got Western quick. That turned it from a song I didn’t think was even going to make the cut for this next album into one of my favorite songs on the project.”

The song was recorded along with the rest of the upcoming album during a two-week period at Rice’s farm outside Nashville, with producer Oscar Charles and a live band using a makeshift recording environment to capture a pure, raw style unlike any of his previous studio projects.

Featuring 13 tracks ranging from admiration of a Western way of life in recent releases “I Hate Cowboys” and “Way Down Yonder” to emotional reckoning in “Key West & Colorado” and a reimagined album version of “If I Were Rock & Roll,” I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell also honors Rice’s late father, Daniel, with its cover art.

“My dad was one of those good guys you read about – tough, hardworking, always helping other people out,” Rice shared of the man gracing the album cover. “I try to live my life in a way that would make him proud. I haven't always measured up to that, but I get closer to that man I want to be and the man he’d be proud of every single day.

“Making this album was a big step towards that musically, too,” he continued of the project for which he served as a writer on all 13 tracks, including three solo writes. “Not only is it the most vulnerable I've ever been, it’s also something he’d enjoy listening to and is full of stories I wish I could tell him. I’ve always wanted to honor him by using this photo as an album cover, and I know this project is the one that deserves that. I can’t wait for y’all to hear it.”

Last week, Rice brought one of the title tracks to “Good Morning America,” performing the television debut of “I Hate Cowboys.” Watch his performance HERE.

Fans will also get to hear the new music live on Rice’s upcoming Way Down Yonder Tour, set to visit iconic venues such as Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, Boston’s House of Blues and Athens’ Georgia Theatre from March 3 through July 1.

CHASE RICE KICKS OFF 2023 WITH DEBUT PERFORMANCE OF “I HATE COWBOYS” THIS FRIDAY, JANUARY 6 ON ABC’S “GOOD MORNING AMERICA”

Forthcoming Album
I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell Set for Release February 10

“I Hate Cowboys” Available Everywhere This Friday, January 6

One of the few contemporary Diamond-certified songwriting cardholders, Chase Rice is set to kick off the new year with brand new music, joining “Good Morning America” this Friday, Jan. 6, for a performance of “I Hate Cowboys.” Tune in to ABC during the 8 a.m. ET hour for this live debut of one of the two title tracks on Rice’s forthcoming album, I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, set for release Feb. 10.

In addition to the live performance airing this Friday, “I Hate Cowboys” will also be available everywhere that day along with an official music video that tributes the iconic history of cowboy culture. Written by Rice alongside HARDY, Ross Copperman and Old Dominion’s Brad Tursi, the song and corresponding visuals serve as a tongue-in-cheek ode to how effortlessly cool true cowboys really are.

“When you listen to the song you of course get that I don’t actually hate cowboys – I’m really fortunate to call several of them great friends,” emphasizes Rice. “But damn, doesn’t it make you crazy when Mr. Steal Your Girl kicks open the door — with that hat and those Wranglers, and he can two-step better than you, talk cooler than you? ‘I Hate Cowboys’ is an ode to the fact that just like Taylor Sheridan writes in ‘Yellowstone,’ if it were easier everyone would cowboy...hell, I wish I could!”

I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell ranges from emotional reckoning to this admiration of a Western way of life evidenced in the title track, and also includes recent releases “Key West & Colorado” and “Way Down Yonder” plus a reimagined album version of “If I Were Rock & Roll.” Rice serves as a writer on all 13 tracks, including three solo writes, and the project honors his late father, Daniel Rice, with its cover art.

Rice will also bring the new music to fans on his headlining Way Down Yonder Tour this spring, visiting several iconic theaters such as Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Boston’s House of Blues and Athens’ Georgia Theatre with special guests Avery Anna, Tyler Braden, Ashland Craft, Dalton Dover, Kameron Marlowe, Read Southall Band and Conner Smith across varying dates. With his just-announced album I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell set to showcase the results of a year off the road spent reconnecting with his passions both musically and personally, multi-Platinum singer/songwriter Chase Rice is ready to bring that sonic return to his roots to fans across the country this spring on the Way Down Yonder Tour.

“I focused on ‘What can I put out that makes me come to life?’,” Rice shared recently with PopCulture of the new music he will debut on this tour. “Because if I come to life when I’m on the stage and up there singing songs that I’m passionate about and love, man, people are gonna love them that much more… I’m at the place in my life now where I just want people to know who I really am as opposed to who they think I am. I think this record’s a good start.”

Kicking off March 3 in Laughlin, Nev., the headlining run presented by Coors Banquet spans 23 dates across the U.S. including iconic theaters such as Nashville Ryman Auditorium, Boston’s House of Blues and Athens’ Georgia Theatre, concluding April 29 in Rice’s birthplace of Daytona, Fla. Joining as special guests across varying dates are Avery AnnaTyler Braden, Ashland CraftDalton DoverKameron MarloweRead Southall Band and Conner Smith.

Tickets to all dates go on sale this Thursday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. local time via ChaseRice.com, with pre-sales beginning Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. local time.

The tour earns its name from Rice’s latest release off the forthcoming album, outlaw anthem “Way Down Yonder,” available everywhere now along with an accompanying Wild West-style music video. Written by Rice together with Hunter Phelps, John Byron, Blake Pendergrass and Corey Crowder during a writing retreat in Florida that also produced recent release “Key West & Colorado,” the song paints a vivid picture of hardworking characters living beyond the confines of the law:

About Chase Rice
With nearly 2.4 million albums sold and over 2.4 billion total streams, plus a legion of passionate fans at his high-energy concerts across the globe, Chase Rice has established himself as a powerful force in Nashville and beyond. With the forthcoming album I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell crafted in his rural Tennessee home-turned-studio, his sound continues to evolve to reflect the realities of his life, as evidenced by recent releases “Key West & Colorado” and “Way Down Yonder.” The new music serves as a follow up to his three-part project, The Album, featuring his latest Platinum-certified No. 3 on the all-genre chart, producing a pair of Top 5 hits; “Gonna Wanna Tonight” and Platinum-certified “Ready Set Roll.” In addition to selling out arenas with Kane Brown and Jason Aldean plus stadiums with Kenny Chesney and Garth Brooks, Rice also consistently sells out venues across the U.S. and Europe on his own headlining tours.

For multi-Platinum singer/songwriter Chase Rice, a year off the road spent reconnecting with his passions both musically and personally resulted in a brand-new album featuring a sonic return to his roots: I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell set for release Feb. 10, 2023 is available for pre-save / pre-add HERE.

Featuring 13 tracks, ranging from emotional reckoning to admiration of a Western way of life and including recent releases “Key West & Colorado” and “Way Down Yonder,” plus a reimagined album version of “If I Were Rock & Roll,” the project honors his late father, Daniel Rice, with its cover art.

I’ve always wanted to honor him by using this photo as an album cover, and I know this project is the one that deserves that. I can’t wait for y’all to hear it.”

Building on solo songwriting sessions with just his acoustic guitar, plus trips with friends where songs were born from real life as opposed to Music Row writing appointments, Rice took the same approach into the recording process with producer Oscar Charles. Forgoing a traditional studio, Rice and Charles turned his rural home into their 24/7 workspace, bringing in a live band with no click track to capture a rugged, authentic sound.

“It was incredible,” Rice shared with CMT of working with Charles. “He gets in there, grinds, and doesn’t just try to do the same old thing… If I didn’t feel like we had something vocally, we didn’t just tweak it. He would say, ‘step up and sing it right.’ We wanted to make everything great. He pushed me, and we pushed each other… This album brought my voice and songs to life in a way people have never heard before.”

The resulting sound is a raw, passionate side of a reinvigorated Rice, who serves as a writer on all 13 tracks, including three solo writes.

“‘What can I put out that makes me come to life?’,” he explained to PopCulture of the writing and recording process. “Because if I come to life when I’m on the stage and up there singing songs that I’m passionate about and love, man, people are gonna love them that much more… I’m at the place in my life now where I just want people to know who I really am as opposed to who they think I am. I think this record's a good start.”
