Rising Artist Cat Evers Debuts First-Ever Music Video for Empowering Single "Aphrodite"

Rising artist, Cat Evers, has officially released her first-ever music video for the single "Aphrodite," today. The visually captivating video, directed by Breanna Lynn, celebrates femininity, self-discovery, and empowerment through stunning visuals and heartfelt storytelling.

"In developing the concept for the 'Aphrodite' video, I always envisioned a room full of women doing what makes them feel most beautiful—whether it’s singing, dancing, or simply embodying their femininity," Cat Evers shares. "When I came across director Breanna Lynn through a mutual friend, I knew she was the perfect collaborator for this project."

Set in a charming Victorian house in Harlem, the video captures the essence of girlhood and the journey toward self-discovery, without focusing on overt sexualization. "We wanted to create something grounded, where women could feel empowered to embrace every version of themselves," Cat explains. "The dancers represent different versions of oneself, as if confronting the idea of settling on one identity, when instead I could embrace them all."

The Victorian home used in the video features pastel-colored rooms and a massive clawfoot bathtub, a detail that added an ethereal touch to the atmosphere. More than just a beautiful backdrop, the house serves as the center for the KOTA Alliance, a nonprofit organization that supports minority women and girls in West Harlem. "It was really cool to support such an incredible cause while working on this project," Cat adds.

The track, which explores themes of self-discovery and confidence, was written and produced during a writer’s camp Cat Evers attended in April 2023 in upstate New York. Originally conceived as a vocal loop using her BOSS RC202 pedal, the single emphasizes the powerful layering of vocal harmonies—a signature element of Cat’s songwriting process. Drawing inspiration from the sonic landscapes of Frou Frou’s “A New Kind of Love” and Britney Spears’ iconic “Toxic,” the production is both ethereal and dynamic, complementing the message of embracing one’s full identity.

"Aphrodite" celebrates the power of female friendship and empowerment, a theme that came naturally on set with a cast and crew composed largely of women. "I felt so supported throughout the process, and it was easy to connect with everyone," says Cat. The video feels like an ode to the strength that can be found in female connections, underscoring the importance of community and solidarity among women.

Growing up in Malibu, California, and currently based in Brooklyn, Cat’s passion for music began at a young age and evolved into a cross-genre sound that melds Pop, Rock, and R&B, each song driven by evocative storytelling. Having studied Vocal Performance and Literary Studies at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, Cat has performed her original music at prominent New York venues like Nublu and The Sultan Room.

DREW BALDRIDGE’S NEW SONG "TOUGH PEOPLE” OUT NOW

Chart-topping singer/songwriter Drew Baldridge’s new single, “Tough People,” is now available. Written by Baldridge alongside Adam Sanders, Jordan Walker, and Luke Combs, “Tough People” is the anticipated follow-up to Baldridge’s recent history-making No. 1 song, “She’s Somebody’s Daughter.Listen HERE.

That hard work paid off in spades as the release of “Tough People” officially launches Baldridge’s new partnership with BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. The video for “Tough People” will premiere today on YouTube at 4:00PM CT. Filmed in Baldridge’s hometown of Patoka, IL (population 550), the video features the real people of the town whose stories are reflected in the lyrics—patients battling cancer, farmers whose livelihoods depend on their crops, and nearly 1,000 locals from around the county who came out to support the music video.

Ian Munsick Releases Sobering “Fixin’ Me”

When Wyoming native Ian Munsick moved to Nashville ten years ago to pursue music, he noticed a recurring theme among the relationships he observed that began amid the neon signs and party culture which permeates the town. Reflecting on this, Munsick’s sobering “Fixin’ Me” cites the toxic push-and-pull that often results, as one person tries to fix bad habits while the other remains complacent. “There are a lot of bars in Nashville, a lot of drinking, a lot of broken love stories out there. I think that's everywhere, but especially in Nashville, alcohol really is the driver of how you meet people in the industry, and a lot of love stories happen through it,” Munsick shared in an interview with RFD-TV.

ONE MORNING LEFT's fourth album Hyperactive marked their first new material in five years. The group began a whole new chapter in their story, drawing inspiration from retro electronic and video game music, as well as '80s hard rock, while staying true to their heavier roots.

Now, the band is set to continue this evolution with their upcoming album, Neon Inferno, slated for release on October 25. This new album promises to build on the foundation laid by Hyperactive, further blending their eclectic influences into a high-energy, genre-defying sound.
 
Changes have been afoot not only in the band's musical style, but also in their lineup. Returning from the cast of 2016's Metalcore Superstars were frontman Mika Lahti, guitarist/vocalist Leevi Luoto, and drummer Niko Hyttinen. Additional firepower was provided by new faces Tuukka Ojansivu on guitar and Miska Sipiläinen on bass guitar, as well as the return-to-form of keyboard player Touko Keippilä from the band's original Panda <3 Penguin lineup.

ARISING EMPIRE ALERT: Resolve Share New Video

French Metalcore quartet Resolve have today released their Human (Extended Cut) album and unveiled the anthemic new single "Smile" via Arising Empire.

Being the latest track to be revealed from the deluxe album, "Smile" follows both the earth-shaking single "Molotov" and the recent sinister single "Sandman" in different fashion.

"'Smile' is the most straight-forward love song... until it's not," mentions Resolve bassist Robin Mariat. "There's obviously a gigantic gap in between this sound and 'Sandman' and the all-in aggression, but our musical DNA is spread across these two ends of the spectrum. So it made perfect sense for us to have this track as the final release of the Human cycle, as it's reminiscent of fan-favorite 'New Colors' or even 'Ignite,' a deeper cut off the album."

"This is a new form of release for us, which is very exciting," Mariat continues. "We get to build up on the world that we shaped for Human, and these new tracks are the continuation of the story. "The only thing we can ask for is for people to listen through the whole record (Human), because if there’s one thing we’re sure of, it’s that this album has something for everyone, even people that may be far removed from metal," shares Mariat when talking about their sophomore album  a record that saw their single "Older Days" featuring Paleface Swiss and Ten56 go viral and surpass over 3.6 million streams to date.

chokecherry Release Debut EP + Share "Messy Star" Video

San Francisco shoe gaze x grunge pop trio chokecherry — comprised of vocalist/guitarist Izzie Clark and bassist/vocalist E. Scarlett Levinson, along with drummer Abri Crocitto — have dropped the incredibly buzzy EP Messy Star, their debut release for Fearless Records. The EP has been grabbing attention from the likes of Alternative Press, Playboy.com, and Bringin' It Backwards.

Today, chokecherry have also shared the epic video for the title track, in which the band pulls back the curtain on some of its unexpected influences.

Often the band's closing number during their live sets, "Messy Star" is a thrashing nod to their heavier sound, taking inspiration from artists like Turnstile, Ty Segall, and Mannequin Pussy. The track tells a story of metaphorical demonic possession, and being at the mercy of a mischievous and destructive "shadow self."
 
"This song is truly meant to make you dance and lose your mind in the moshpit," the band states. "Lyrically, the song touches on themes of being at war with yourself (or rather, your shadow self) and peeling back the curtain on the dark parts of the human psyche. The narrator of the track sits in a more fictional role than our other songs, which was fun to explore and build a narrative around — a sort of villain arc, if you will. The nature of the 'possession' is open to interpretation, but listeners can relate to its references to addiction, insecurity, and self-destruction. For us, it invokes memories of the sweaty L.A. punk shows that shaped our musical repertoire."
 
chokecherry continue, "We wrote this song as a homage to our doom, psych rock, and hardcore influences. This is the earliest chokecherry track that made it to a record. From the track's inception, it was an odyssey that took different forms from its live performances to its eventual recording for this EP."

chokecherry have been steadily making noise since meeting on the dating app Hinge. The San Francisco Gate praised chokecherry's "blend of white-hot shoegaze," calling it "the modern sound of the California sun vaporizing the San Francisco fog." Clark and Levinson may not have worked out on the romantic front, but the pair are clearly musical soulmates and it's  
beautiful thing to witness and hear.

Chokecherry will capture the hearts of rock fans everywhere with songs that boast thick, '70s-inspired bass lines laden with strategically placed howls and hums. Their passionate, hypnotic delivery overflows and fills into every word, allowing vulnerability that listeners can truly attach to. If their Spotify streams —2.8 million global streams and counting — are any indication of how many music fans will dig what chokecherry are putting down, then it's time for 2024 to buckle the F up.

Morgan Wallen Releases “Love Somebody (Live from Neyland Stadium)”

After concluding two years on the road touring his third studio album with his record-setting One Night At A Time tour, 15-time Billboard Music Awards winner Morgan Wallen has doubled down in the studio setting up his next era. Today, to commemorate Friday’s (10/18) release of “Love Somebody” and his homecoming shows in Knoxville in September – which became the largest weekend on-record for the city with 156,161 fans in attendance – Wallen releases his “Love Somebody (Live from Neyland Stadium)” music video. Directed by David Lehr & David Forehand and co-directed by Global Extreme, “Love Somebody (Live from Neyland Stadium)” was filmed Sept. 22 on the second of two nights at University of Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium. Wallen became only the fourth artist ever to play the venue, which is the sixth largest college football stadium in the U.S., and surpassed the attendance record previously held by The Jackson 5 across three shows in 1984 (148,407). 
 
“‘Love Somebody’ is a little bit of a new approach lyrically and sonically,” Wallen shared upon the song’s release on Oct. 18. “I wanted to try something different, with what I wanted to talk about, how I wanted it to sound, and we were inspired by Latin-leaning influences. I’m really excited about this song and pumped that it is out.”
 
“Love Somebody,” celebrated by HITS Daily Double as a “heartbreak hit-in-the-making,” was written by Wallen alongside John Byron, Ashley Gorley, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Elof Loelv and Ryan Vojtesak, and was produced by Joey Moi and Charlie Handsome (Dangerous: The Double Album and One Thing At A Time). JSqrd & the Mixed-Up Zombies unveils remix of amusing single 'Do The Wilhelm Scream'

San Francisco collective JSqrd & the Mixed-Up Zombies have shaken things up in relation to their debut single 'Do The Wilhelm Scream', released several weeks ago. Here, he and his coven of zombies offer a fresh stab at this song, livening thing up even more with an upbeat remix. The accompanying video takes the novelty further into Halloween-esque territory, complete with Shriners and Star Wars stormtroopers. Take it away, you groovy ghoulies!

Inspired by an iconic sound that has echoed through theaters for generations, 'Do The Wilhelm Scream' takes inspiration from this Hollywood tradition, which dates back to 1951. JJ (JSqrd) Holoubek brings this effect from the silver screen to the music scene in a fun and upbeat country-rock song that will have you tapping your feet to sounds once synonymous with thrill and suspense.

"Doing a remix was honestly the most logical and natural thing to do. A tune this straight forward was just begging for a little deconstruction, and more importantly, updating. Well, consider it done, while all the while grounding things with some crazy bongo fury," says JJ Holoubek (JSqrd).

“‘Country-pop’ has been done, well, with all due respect, ad nauseum. It was high time to plow a new genre: hillbilly-hop—and toss in a little spice for, you know, the kids, as well as a bone-rattling bass drop. It’s time is like (snap) Nowsville, daddy... You’re welcome.”

Based in San Francisco, JJ Holoubek has spent decades playing guitar and bass in bands - both original and cover bands - spanning California's central coast and the SF Bay Area. However, he is best known as a founding member of the Trees of Mystery, a much-beloved band of semi-alcoholic musical misfits and troublemakers from San Luis Obispo, CA, who grabbed for the brass ring only to come up empty-handed.

Guitars, guitarists, and their bands have been of a lifelong interest to JSqrd. LA psychrock outfit Tombstones In Their Eyes reveals trippy video for 'I Like To Feel Good'

American psych-gaze outfit Tombstones In Their Eyes present the visuals for their new single 'I Like to Feel Good'. The video itself, oscillating between electrified stage performances and scenes from a chilled drive through LA, seemingly reflects the transformation inherent in this song's lyrics, expressing how one's inner strength and individuality can be a catalyst for positive change.

Espousing a heavier sound than the two earlier-released singles from this album - 'Sweet as Pie' and 'I'm Not Like That' - 'I Like To Feel Good foreshadows the band's 'Asylum Harbour' album, out on November 19 via Kitten Robot Records, which sees TITE mainman pull past the pain, numbness and chaos reflected on their previous album 'Sea of Sorrow'.

Based in Los Angeles, Tombstones In Their Eyes is made up of long-time members John Treanor (vocals & guitar), Stephen Striegel (drums), Courtney Davies (vocals) , Phil Cobb (guitar) and Paul Boutin (guitar), along with new band members Joel Wasko (bass) and Clea Cullen (vocals).

"'I Like to Feel Good' has probably my favorite verse of any song that I’ve written. It’s the second long verse and it was written in a stream of consciousness fashion.  I don’t believe that I changed any of the words that came out in that first pass. And it really hit home. It summed up my existence, thinking that my sensitivity was a burden and a malady, only to find that it is a gift that I can use to make life better," says John Treanor.

"Beyond that verse, it also has a really cool wah part leading from the main verse to the last chorus. The part only lasts thirty seconds or less but it came out so good. And I love the overall vibe and sound of the song, it sounds super fuzzy and driving (in the verses especially)."
 
Recorded at Kitten Robot Studios in Los Angeles and  co-produced by John Treanor, this album was produced and engineered by Paul Roessler (45 Grave, Twisted Roots, The Screamers, Nina Hagen), also known for his work with Josie Cotton, Hayley and the Crushers and Gitane Demone.

Tombstones In Their Eyes began a decade ago as a demo-swapping exercise between two childhood friends separated by geography (John Treanor in LA and James Cooper in NYC), but soon blossomed into a full-fledged band and a healthy stream of expansive music that is laced with fuzzed out psychedelic majesty. 

For John, writing and performing has always been a way to deal with anxiety and depression, to speak about a subject without being the centre of the conversation, and to express oneself in a subliminal way rather than directly. This music looks out into the universe as much as it looks inward toward the soul. 

Named after a maritime phrase for a safe place to wait out a storm, 'Asylum Harbour' is an album of resurfacing, reflecting a new phase of healing after re-emerging from the pandemic. Treanor shares, "The album has been ready for some time, so it’s a relief to get it out.... Now we get to go out and play the songs from the new record live."

Skillet Support Hurricane Relief Efforts + Share New Single "Ash In The Wind"

22x platinum, GRAMMY-nominated rockers SKILLET are offering an exclusive limited run of "All that Matters" and "Ash in the Wind" tees with 100% of all funds going toward Hurricane Relief efforts across Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.  The band will make donations to Samaritan's Purse and its work across the five-state region.

"We are heartbroken to see the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton," the band said in a statement. "We have played shows in some of the cities that were hit and they are special places for us. We are partnering with organizations who have boots on the ground, helping get those who are impacted the long-term resources they need."

This past Friday, the band released their latest focus track, "Ash In The Wind," from the upcoming album, REVOLUTION, out November 1. The song received a very warm welcome, debuting at No. 1 on the iTunes All-Songs chart.

The Great Old Ones Return with More Lovecraftian Lore

"Me, The Dreamer" follows Lovecraft's strapping young hero and fictional stand-in Randolph Carter. Always one to keep his head in the clouds, Carter embarks on a mind quest through the treacherous Dreamlands. But, as the divine gods of old would have it, his night time journey is barred by unspeakable perils that push him closer to brink of sanity. 

A name is whispered which chills the spine and quickens the pulse – THE GREAT OLD ONES. Like phantoms emerging from the fog, they have haunted the world of Lovecraftian Black Metal with their sonorous, foreboding melodies and eldritch tales. Descending once more into the abyss of H.P. Lovecraft's enigmatic universe, they have unearthed their latest opus, Kadath - an album that promises to be a journey of both magnificent dreams and unspeakable horrors.

 

THE GREAT OLD ONES emerged in 2009 from the old parts of the ancient Aquitanian harbour city of Bordeaux, France, a city famed for its secrets and deep red wine. After releasing their first album, Al Azif, the reactions of critics and fans were unanimously positive.

 

The band followed up with their second full-length, Tekeli-li, which garnered even higher praise. As a result, THE GREAT OLD ONESplayed a show at the acclaimed Roadburn festival, opened for BEHEMOTH in their homeland, played at Hellfest, and supported label mates SHINING and DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT.

 

The third full length, EOD – A Tale of Dark Legacy, (2017) marked another big step in the band’s fast rising career. The five-piece took the road with the legendary GAAHLS WYRD and embarked on a successful European co-headline tour with AUÐN from Iceland. THE GREAT OLD ONES also appeared on the billing of respected festivals, such as Brutal Assault and Eindhoven Metal Meeting, in front of a gigantic crowd of cultists.

 

THE GREAT OLD ONES have been crafting sonic landscapes that echo with the cries of ancient, cosmic deities and the whispers of forgotten realms. Their discography masterfully showcasing the sheer power of atmosphere and narrative, and has guided listeners through the darkest corners of Lovecraft's mythos, earning them a devoted following among both metal aficionados and acolytes of the macabre. With their unique blend of harrowing intensity and sombre beauty, they have captured the essence of the otherworldly, marrying it with the raw, blackened heart of metal.

 

Kadath marks a bold departure from the oceanic depths of the Cthulhu mythos, venturing instead into the Dreamlands. Benjamin Guerry’s haunting vocals and guitars, alongside the mesmerizing contributions of Aurélien Edouard and Alexandre Rouleau on guitars, the deep resonance of Gregory Vouillat's bass, and the relentless assault of Julian Deana's drums, forge an album of unmatched emotional depth and technical prowess.
