Chart-topping singer/songwriter Drew Baldridge’s new single, “Tough People,” is now available. Written by Baldridge alongside Adam Sanders, Jordan Walker, and Luke Combs, “Tough People” is the anticipated follow-up to Baldridge’s recent history-making No. 1 song, “She’s Somebody’s Daughter.” Listen HERE.
"This song means so much to me,” said Baldridge. “Our world is full of tough people fighting to stay ahead every day. But for me, it’s my story about not giving up on my dreams. I had to risk everything to make 'She’s Somebody’s Daughter' a hit. It was definitely a tough time for me, but our team kept our heads down, worked hard, and pulled out a win—hard work pays off, good beats evil, and tough times make tough people.”
That hard work paid off in spades as the release of “Tough People” officially launches Baldridge’s new partnership with BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. He has signed with Billboard’s “Indie Label of the Year” to support the new single on country radio. The song officially goes for adds on November 4 via Stoney Creek Records. Baldridge previewed the tune for radio friends this week in Memphis during St. Jude Country Cares as the music industry gathered to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in their efforts to support children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
The video for “Tough People” will premiere today on YouTube at 4:00PM CT. Filmed in Baldridge’s hometown of Patoka, IL (population 550), the video features the real people of the town whose stories are reflected in the lyrics—patients battling cancer, farmers whose livelihoods depend on their crops, and nearly 1,000 locals from around the county who came out to support the music video.
Additionally, helping guide Baldridge into the next phase of his career, he has signed with Left | Right Management for representation. “From the moment I met Drew, I knew I wanted to be an advocate for everything he stood for,” said Left | Right President John Meneilly. “Then he played ‘Tough People’ for me and Jay King, and we wouldn’t stop calling him until he agreed to let us represent him!” Joining Meneilly and King on Baldridge’s management team are Alex Goodman and Hannah McElroy, who will serve as day-to-day managers.
Baldridge made country music history in August when his RIAA GOLD-certified hit, “She’s Somebody’s Daughter,” went No. 1 on the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart. He is the only self-funded artist ever to hit that mark with his first No. 1 song. Additionally, he became the highest-charting independent artist ever on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, a record previously held by Aaron Watson since 2017. The song has amassed over 1.1 billion streams and impressions across all platforms.
Baldridge is currently on the road for his Drew Baldridge Live tour dates throughout the end of the year before he kicks off his run on Cody Johnson’s Leather Deluxe Tour in 2025. When he is not writing and recording, he hosts a weekly radio show on LA’s Go Country (KKGO) every Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM PT. For more information, visit DrewBaldridgeMusic.com.
