Koe Wetzel’s Year-End Best Of Lists + Theo Von

Koe Wetzel continues to celebrate a milestone year, solidifying his status as a powerful force in Country music with his acclaimed album 9 Lives earning a spot on major year-end lists from the all-genre wrap-ups in Rolling Stone and Billboard, to the Tennessean and Holler bests in Country. Cementing Wetzel’s reputation as one of music’s most boundary-pushing forces, the album debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart and No. 15 across all genres. Listen HERE.

Rolling Stone hailed 9 Lives as one of the “Best Albums of 2024,” declaring that “Wetzel has been a Texas country anti-hero for a decade now, but 9 Lives finally helped introduce the singer-songwriter to an audience outside the Lone Star State,” while Billboard spotlighted the track “Sweet Dreams” in its “Best Songs of 2024” roundup, describing it as “bruised rather than bruising, soft rock designed for hushed singalongs.” The accolades continued with the Tennesseannaming the record among its “Top Nashville Albums of 2024,” celebrating Wetzel as “about as real as a musician can get,” noting that “9 Lives represents Wetzel’s best work yet and signals there's much more to come,” with “Holler” praising it among its “Best Country Music Albums of 2024” as “a record that thrives in its exposure to honesty…equal parts outrageous and vulnerable, swaggering yet subdued.”

As “High Road” feat. Jessie Murph climbs ever closer to the top spot at Country radio (No. 3 on this week’s Mediabase chart and No. 4 on Billboard Country Airplay) while also impacting at both Hot AC (Top 25 at No. 23) and Top 40 (Top 30 at No. 26), Wetzel’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down. In a year that saw Wetzel perform to well over 200,000 fans across the U.S. and Europe with over 96% of all headline tickets sold, he also amassed more than 650 million global streams of 9 Lives and earned five new RIAA certifications, with “High Road” becoming his fastest song to reach the Platinum milestone to date.

Wetzel also recently sat down with comedian and podcaster Theo Von for a wide-ranging conversation providing insight into his Texas upbringing, his relationship with fans and his take on modern Country music. Watch Below.

Adding a festive note to his banner year, Wetzel also recently released Wetzel’s Wonderland Chapter 2, a building holiday collection that brings his signature edge to the Christmas season. Featuring four new reimagined classics, the project continues a tradition that Wetzel’s began last year, now boasting seven songs total. This holiday spirit will come alive later this month when Wetzel takes the stage for two special shows in his home state of Texas for Wetzel’s Wonderland Live, set for December 27 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth and December 28 at Moody Center in Austin. Limited tickets remain available HERE.

About Koe Wetzel
Koe Wetzel never met a genre wall he couldn’t tear down: The Texas singer-songwriter has earned a rabid audience for his songs that mix country, rock, hip-hop, and even Nineties grunge. His 2016 album Noise Complaint endeared him to fans with its no- holds-barred lyrics about drunken nights, broken hearts and stints in jail, and included the Gold-certified hits “Love” (feat. Parker McCollum), “Something to Talk About” and the infamous “February 28, 2016.” Wetzel’s 2020 major label debut, Sellout, only furthered his legend with the Platinum-certified “Drunk Driving” and “Good Die Young” plus the Gold-certified “Kuntry & Wistern.” The 2022 follow-up, Hell Paso, hit No. 3 on Billboard’s Country Albums and spawned hits on both the country and rock charts, including the Gold-certified “Creeps” and “Cabo.” To date, Wetzel has 3.4 billion total streams and has created a genuine experience with his live concerts, which he describes as “total chaos.” In 2023 alone, he sold more than 275,000 tickets, and appeared for a third time on POLLSTAR’s Top Worldwide Tours. Wetzel played prominent festival sets this summer and opened for Morgan Wallen on the superstar’s One Night at a Time Stadium Tour in Texas, while also headlining his own recently-wrapped Damn Near Normal World Tour. His new album, 9 Lives (Columbia), is available everywhere now as Platinum-certified lead single “High Road” with Jessie Murph arrives as his debut Country radio single while also climbing both the Hot AC and Top 40 charts.

Corey Kent Teams with Lauren Alaina for Latest Release "Now or Never"

Sony Music Nashville artist Corey Kent has spent more than 15 years cutting his own path through a tangled wilderness of stumbles and setbacks … and never once come close to waving a white flag. The result…he is about to release his sophomore album, Black Bandana, Sept. 6, 2024 and will kick off his headlining Black Bandana Tour on Sept. 21. The platinum-selling Kent has given fans another taste of the upcoming  project today with the release of “Now or Never” featuring Lauren Alaina. Listen to “ Now or Never” Below and pre-save Black Bandana HERE

"'Now or Never' is a song about drawing a line in the sand for yourself,” shared Kent. “It’s about loving somebody but refusing to let them continue to hurt you by taking a stand and asking your partner to make up their mind... 'You either love me or you don’t.’"

“I am so excited to be a part of this song with Corey,” said Alaina. “I think the message is super powerful. It’s okay to love someone and take a stand for yourself when needed. I am honored Corey asked me to be a part of it. I can’t wait to see where the song takes us.”

Written by Sam Ellis, Ryan Hurd and Geoff Warburton and produced by Chris Farren, “Now or Never” finds Kent channeling the ’80s-rock anthems that helped give his childhood a soundtrack turning it into an orchestral-rock power ballad... and a duet of epic emotional proportions. Featuring the crystalline vocal counterpoint of Lauren Alaina, a pair of lovers resolve to give their volatile connection a final ultimatum –make it work now, or break it off entirely.

A Bixby, Oklahoma native now based in Dallas, the proud husband and father has become a decorated artist on the rise, growing from humble heartland roots into a Platinum certified Number One hit maker with 940 million career streams, and a black bandana on his neck. But today, that Black Bandana is more than an accessory – and not just the name of his sophomore major-label album. It’s his rally cry.

“It started from riding motorcycles and wanting something over your face so you didn’t swallow a bug,” the singer-songwriter says. “But then it turned into a staple I wear on stage, and then a symbol of the path through my career, and life. Through all the ups and downs, the one constant thing was this relentless hope – this relentless pursuit of believing that if I don’t give up, I can get where I’m going.”

With a self-built story that has seen success and disaster, keeping that belief wasn’t always easy – but it’s been paying off. Rising from the vibrant Red Dirt country scene as the embodiment of authenticity, Kent set his sights on Nashville as a teen, bringing his self-penned catalog of country-rock anthems with him. But after the pandemic coincided with the loss of his first publishing deal, Kent was forced to move to Texas and get a job on a paving crew to pay the bills, yet he stubbornly refused to call music quits. Honky-tonks and dancehalls on both sides of the Red River became his stomping ground, and slowly but surely, the black bandana spirit grew.

Fast forward a few years and the hit single “Wild As Her” proved he was right all along. An untamed tribute to a free-spirited stunner, the track re-invigorated Kent’s career as a Platinum-certified No. 1 at country radio, and the lead single off his major label album debut, Blacktop. And while momentum kept building, with Kent hitting the road alongside Jason Aldean, Ashley McBryde, Parker McCollum and more, the mainstream moved to claim they knew it all along. Next-big-thing accolades came in from CMT, Opry Next Stage and more, but even as Kent became the most played new artist on country radio for all of 2023, he kept the underdog, who-cares-about-conventional-wisdom mentality. And so did his fans.

For Kent, the point was that his fans have the same independent spirit he does, and he took that lesson into his next chapter. Settled into his ranch in Texas and intent on being fully present as husband and father, while also achieving his dreams, his second album is all about finding balance, keeping clear eyes on what’s important – and waving that Black Bandana for all to see.

Co-writing six of Black Bandana’s 10 songs, what Kent ultimately wanted was to mix themes of integrity, resilience and family with a sonic setting befitting the mission. Finding the midway point between cinematic electric guitars and heart-pounding drums meet a warm, gravel-road rasp, as Kent brings classic rock into the present tense.

“We all face our own demons. We all face our own setbacks, and I hope this record serves as encouragement,” he says. “It would be really easy to lean on the past and go ‘Look at what I’ve done,’ but I’m still excited about the records I’ve yet to create. I’m excited about the shows I haven’t played yet. I’m excited about unlocking new levels of my craft, and writing more songs that people connect with deeply. …I still live for those moments.”

Kent is also connecting with friends on the road in his new podcast “Bus Call.” The podcast finds Kent chatting with everyone from country music star Bailey Zimmerman to 2023 Doak Walker Award winner, OSU Running Back Ollie Gordon. The Texas Troubadour and his guests share laughs, inspirational moments and talk through the ups and downs of both business and personal lifeListen to the first two episodes of season one now and stay tuned for a new episode each month.

The Oklahoma native will be joined by Braxton Keith, Kaitlin Butts, Max McNown, Karley Scott Collins and Lauren Watkins on select dates for his headlining, international Black Bandana Tour, which kick-offs in Paso Robles California on Sept. 21. The road warrior will trek across both the U.S. and U.K. with stops in New York, Boston, Atlanta, Dublin, London and more into early 2025. Tickets are on sale now. LET'S TALK LADIESConversations Across Generations

Podcast Gets Women Talking For A New Season On September 10

Child-free by Choice (cats optional), Marriage: Yes or No?

Is There Shame in Not Saving Enough Money?

Check Out Let’s Talk Ladies Podcast Season 2

Why didn’t we know about this? That question kept coming up over the years for M.B. Roberts and friends. Whether it was losing too much hair, suffering through sleepless nights, or sweating beyond belief, all of it was incredibly troubling. Mostly because they thought they were the only ones it happened to.

More questions came up, many that had nothing to do with female bodies:

  •      Why don’t I know how to ask for a raise even though I’d been working for decades?

  •      Do other women my age ever feel out of place?

  •      Do we really need eye cream, or is it a pink tax scam?

Enter the podcast, Let’s Talk Ladieswhere M.B., and her new Season 2 co-host, Katie Neal, talk to women of all ages about all the things

  • Marriage: yes or no?

  • Child-free by choice?

  • Can sex last?

  • Is it too late to start saving money? (With Today Show money expert Jean Chatzky)

The former Parade Magazine editors and longtime friends, M.B. and Katie, share experiences and ask women from age 20-92 to tell us what they know and ask about things they want to find out. It’s fun – lots of laughs —but they also dig deep. Listen as the Let’s Talk Ladies co-hosts learn over and over again: what they think they know about the younger generation is wrong most of the time. And they’re not afraid to admit it.

Listen to Season 1 on Spotify or Apple

Season 2 Launch Date: September 10, 2024

About M.B. Roberts:

M.B. Roberts, an author and journalist, has written about pop culture, lifestyle, sports—and now, tech—for longer than she wants to admit. As former Senior Editor of Parade Magazine, she interviewed dozens of bold-faced names from 4'8" Simone Biles to 7'2" Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (and plenty of medium-sized movers and shakers). She’s written 18 books including Sign of Life, a memoir from Hank Williams Jr.’s daughter, Hilary, and Jug Fishing for Greazy with Brad Paisley.

Dream job? Listening and talking to women of all ages about inspiring topics.

About Katie Neal:

Katie Neal is a former magazine editor (Parade, Spry Living) who was lucky enough to interview two of her idols—Jimmy Carter and Taylor Swift—before pivoting to a career in marketing. Now she helps create video, live webcasts, blogs, social media and more for brands big and small. An early podcast adopter, Katie is thrilled to finally have a mic of her own to go back on the record with women about work, sex, grief, love and everything in between. katienealwrites.com

KINGCROW Release Title Track off New Album

"...dark at times, atmospheric at the right moments and heavy when it needs to" - The Prog Report

"Certainly progressive rock, but they are also heavy at times, alternative in others, and their sound wavers between the darkness of Riverside and the rock of Porcupine Tree" - The Prog Mind

"Each listen exposes layers like peeling an onion" - Angry Metal Guy

"Bleak and desperate, yet also a message of hope and warmth"
- The Progressive Subway

Italy's progressive rock alchemists, KINGCROW, continue to etch their legacy of evocative soundscapes and profound lyrical narratives with the release of the title track off their upcoming eighth album. "Hopium" heralds a new zenith in the band’s storied journey, where genres dissolve, and the music becomes an experience beyond the ordinary.

Watch the band's playthrough of "Hopium" below:

Hopium Bandcamp Listening Party

"Hopium" pulsates with an emotional resonance and raw vitality, capturing the essence of Kingcrow's relentless pursuit of innovation. Seamlessly intertwining existential introspection with the band’s signature blend of progressive rock, ambient and metal influences, their new single is a manifesto of passion, intricately weaving a tale of wrestling with societal illusions while seeking true inner self.

The playthrough video of "Hopium" was filmed at Hologram Studios in Francavilla al Mare, Italy, which is where Kingcrow's new album was mixed. It was directed and edited by Riccardo Nifosì, who also handled the cinematography alongside Giorgio Amadori.

The first incarnation of the band  was originally founded in Rome, Italy, by brothers Diego Cafolla (guitars) and Manuel Thundra Cafolla (drums) under the name of "Earth Shaker".

Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's poem "Raven" and driven by a will of change, the band's name was soon altered into KINGCROW and a couple of self-produced demos/albums where recorded under the KINGCROW moniker: Something Unknown(2001), Insider (2004) and Timetropia (2006).

In the early months of 2010 the band finished recording their new album “Phlegethon” that was released in June of the same year under the “Scarlet Records” label.

It was considered on an international level as a relevant masterpiece and was classed as one of the elite progressive metal albums of the year. It has been near the top of the “album of the year” charts in some international prog-rock websites. Phlegethon promotion lasted for about two years and a half.

During the same year, the band recorded the new album “In Crescendo” that was released in February 2013 by the American label “Sensory Records.

The band toured  along with Pain Of Salvation in North America  in April and May, 2013. In 2015 the band released the album “Eidos” and toured Europe as Headliners. Meanwhile KINGCROW signed a management deal with GlassVille Music, house of very well known progressive acts like Pain Of Salvation and Riverside among others.

The band recorded the new album titled “The Persistence”.

The album was released on September 7th via Sensory Records and received great reviews and ended on a lot of “best of 2018” lists on magazines and webzines.

The upcoming album “Hopium” marks another step forward in pushing boundaries remarking the restless progressive  attitude of the band in incorporating countless influences into a personal sound.

Describing the band today is quite a difficult task, but one could state that the influence of different kinds of music, from progressive rock , ambient music, alternative rock and metal are all present in the music of KINGCROW.

With each release KINGCROW has taken a step further away from their original roots and is regarded today as one of the most exciting bands that Italy has to offer.
