Post Profit Share "Cancer Culture" Video — WATCH // Band Signs to SharpTone + Touring With Nothing More

Newly signed SHARPTONE RECORDS band POST PROFIT have shared the video for the new single "Cancer Culture." Watch it here.

The video features the Longview, Texas trio — Matt Jackson [vocals, guitar], Nick Hawner [guitar +vocals], and Zach Hicks [drums + vocals] — doing their best TV news broadcast impersonation while having free reign for a day at the Texas Museum of Broadcasting and Communications in nearby Kilgore, Texas.

The dynamic track highlights Post Profit's undeniably unique musical blend, encompassing all of their influences and proudly displaying where they are as a band sonically. It also touches upon an oft-controversial topic that remains close to their hearts.

"It's all about cancel culture," Matt reveals. "People watch you and wait for you to make the wrong step so they can cross you out. This song was born from our frustration with the feeling of being overlooked and pushed aside, and us trying to overcome that and stay determined in our path."

As for inking a deal with SharpTone Records, the band had the following to say: "We're beyond excited to announce that we have joined the SharpTone family! Their roster is stacked full of bands that we have looked up to for years such as Loathe, Holding Absence, Don Broco, and Boston Manor, just to name a few. We feel right at home with these amazing bands and the welcome we've received has felt more like a homecoming. We're looking forward to working closely with SharpTone on our upcoming releases, and ushering in a new era of rock music alongside the label's very talented and accomplished roster."

Post Profit will be hitting the road, opening for fellow Texans NOTHING MORE this September, with the first show this Friday, September 8 in Nashville. All dates are listed below. Tickets can be purchased here.

ABOUT POST PROFIT
Some would say Post Profit have been waiting for this moment since the cradle, with each member being introduced to musical instruments between the ages of 2 to 6.

Zach and Matt forged a friendship as toddlers ever since their moms became best friends from church in Longview, TX. Nick would later learn of Matt's vocal prowess through the high school intercom. "Matt's father was the high school principal," explains Nick. "And he'd have Matt on there in the mornings singing about refraining from drugs and alcohol and striving for good school attendance."

Over the next few years, the trio would really get to know each other from attending and performing at local shows. Nick and Zach especially hit it off and quickly became inseparable, spending much of their time listening to music, eager to put their own band together. Meanwhile, Matt was sinking his teeth into a Dallas based metalcore band called Far From Earth.

During early 2017, Matt started hosting open jams every Sunday at a smoky East Texas dive bar and one night asked Zach to join on drums. Zach dragged his new friend Nick along on guitar and the trio quickly formed a strong musical bond. They would soon start slipping originals into their covers sets and after months of unrelenting practices and bar jams they booked their first show at a Halloween party in Tyler, TX.

With the experience of countless gigs across the South, Post Profit soon gained a reputation for their commanding and impactful live performance, including powerful 2021 and 2022 performances at Welcome To Rockville in Daytona, FL. Rallying around influences such as Deftones, Incubus, Failure, and Quicksand, the band refined their original songs and sound into what would become their 2022 debut self-produced album When You Think It's Right It's Always Wrong.  The release garnered over a million cumulative streams independently, and the success of their single "Smother" grabbed the attention of SharpTone Records, eventually landing them a deal.

Since the passing of their dear brother Martin Funderud, (Former vocalist, 1978-2017), the band is dedicated to honor him as well as his passion for brutal music. Rest in Power.

Autarkh More Man Than Machine on "Strife"

Autarkh's debut already sounded like a message from the future. But the Dutch band push their vision to even further extremes on 'Emergent', which comes out on November 10. The new album is now available for pre-order HERE.

Today, Autarkh are releasing the first single off 'Emergent'. Watch the intense video for "Strife"
below.

'Emergent' still bristles with melodic dissonance, ambient droning and glitchy programmed beats. It's just that now, instead of looking for their reflection in the natural world, Autarkh journey inward in search of peace.

"'Strife' shows how we took a different direction on 'Emergent': a more straightforward approach where specific atmospheres rather than the density and intensity of 'Form In Motion' are emphasized", says Nienhuis. "Guitarist David Luiten has done an outstanding job writing this track. The remarkable guitar theme – that we reused in the Autarkh III song "Lost In Sight" – captivated me instantly when I heard the original version (for a different project) in 2020, and led to this Autarkh version that we are delighted to share with you today!’’

"Strife" finds Autarkh locked in a battle with their inner demons. The song opens with drum pads that pound quietly, like trying to escape from your own personal prison. The mental anguish only escalates from there, spiked by a thousand megawatts of industrial-sized riffs. But the band doesn't lose hope. "My eternal summer is not so distant anymore", Nienhuis screams as if clawing toward a pinhole of light.

Autarkh might be from the future. But they're still human after all.

Dutch contemporary metal adventurers Autarkh are back with their sophomore full-length album Emergent. Michel Nienhuis, founder of Autarkh and Dodecahedrom, teamed up again with guitarist/producer David Luiten (Inferum), bassist Desmond Kuijk (Dear Mother) and electronics wizard Tijnn Verbruggen to create the follow-up to their highly acclaimed debut album 'Form In Motion', released by Season Of Mist on 12 March 2021. Monica Kendrick (Chicago Reader, US) on the relevance of the group’s debut:

"And I’ll call it now: given the time to flourish and sink into the ears of an audience, Autarkh will become highly influential on the next generation of extreme metal."

'Emergent' is another testament to Autarkh’s imagination and creativity. It delivers increased versatility and contrast, and sees the band expand towards more uplifting and consonant territories. Form In Motion explored the boundaries of sonic extremes; on 'Emergent', Autarkh broadens its horizon and shows diversity and nuance while preserving its intense and razor-sharp edge.

With nine tracks, 'Emergent' is a sonic exploration of the inner universe where all things light and dark can be encountered. The listener is lured into an "Open Focus" (a meditative state of mind) in preparation for an inward journey along the physical energy centers. From the thumping synth basses of "Strife" and the menacing sludgy melancholy of "Duhkha", we move into the bewildering blasts of "Trek", where stellar harmonies will eventually burst through the oppressive atmosphere. The trip continues with the crushing downtempo groove that enforces "Refocus", as well as the mind-bending a capella interlude "Aperture" and the frivolous "Eye Of Horus" and "Countless Kaleidoscopes", to finally deliver all-encompassing enlightenment with Ka.

Composers Nienhuis’s and Luiten’s statements and states of mind capture the same capriciousness and unease of 'Form In Motion', this time leaving a more open, diverse and radiant imprint. With exciting vocal harmonies, bold contrasts and a vivid imagination, Autarkh sheds a bright light on the inner self and exposes it to the world with intensity and conviction. That makes Emergent an evocative release with a multilayered yet crystal-clear production that promises a bright future for Autarkh.

Gary Moore Back To The Blues released on vinyl for the first time ever this October

BMG and Gary Moore release Back To The Blues on double heavyweight vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve. The album will also be released both digitally and on CD.

Back To The Blues, was Gary Moore’s 13th solo album, where he went back to his traditional blues style. This album has never previously been released on vinyl, and contains new liner notes written by Dave Everley.  This release contains bonus tracks ‘Picture Of The Moon (Single Edit)’, ‘Cold Black Night (Live At VH1)’ and ‘Stormy Monday (Live At VH1)’.

Gary Moore rocked the world of Blues and Rock with his virtuoso guitar playing and soulful voice. Best known for his evocative solo hits, Parisienne Walkways and Still Got the Blues, and his on/off membership of Thin Lizzy, Gary Moore’s solo career comprises over twenty albums. Throughout the 1980s, Gary moved up the rock hierarchy, but turned his back on what he regarded as the empty flash of metal and reverted to his heart music – the blues – where ironically, he scored his biggest commercial success through his 1990s and 2000s blues albums.

As well as running his own bands, during a successful solo career, Gary mixed with the best that rock and blues could offer, playing live and on record with George Harrison, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, Greg Lake, BB King, Albert King, Albert Collins and many others. Gary Moore is regarded as one of the most influential Irish musicians of all time. Having been honored by both Gibson and Fender with signature guitars, the Northern Irish star is still seen as one of the best guitar players of all time.

Dead Poet Society Share Double Single "Running in Circles" + "Hurt" — WATCH

Los Angeles quartet DEAD POET SOCIETY return with not one but two new tracks. Today, the band has shared the video for the new double single"Running in Circles" and "Hurt."

Watch the video
below

"'Running in Circles' explores the paranoid voices inside our heads," the band shares. "It's about the struggle of being real with yourself — avoiding the 'fake.' Sometimes, it feels impossible to avoid. So it was written about not being true to yourself and the shame that follows."

As for "Hurt," the band explains, "There's not a lot in life that's more gut-wrenchingly frustrating than trying desperately for years to build a career and having little to show for it. From living on floors and friends' couches or out of your car, to working job after job just barely making ends meet to going on tour and coming back with less money than you had before. We wrote this song as a symbol of that nagging doubt and insecurity. The doubt that consumes you and that can be triggered by people or events in your life. But more often than not, again, it's the voice inside your head."

The new tracks are the first taste of music from the band since 2021. The band had released a deluxe edition of their critically acclaimed and head-turning debut album -!- (said as "The Exclamation Album."). The expanded version added six new tracks — a healthy selection of stripped down songs, live tracks, and a remix. Dead Poet Society accumulated over 72 million global streams, with nearly 32 million streams in the U.S. alone. The band also enjoyed two Top 15 singles at radio and key playlisting. They have also spent as much time as possible on the road — having toured with alt rock powerhouses Badflower, Biffy Clyro, Highly Suspect, and BRKN Love. The band has ultimately established itself as an intense live act not to be missed!

Dead Poet Society will be touring with Nothing More this fall, as well as performing headline shows. All tour dates are below.

ASINHELL unleash 'Desert Of Doom' single

For more than 20 years, vocalist/guitarist Michael Poulsen has been spearheading Danish rock and roll machine Volbeat, releasing eight full-lengths, selling millions of albums, and filling stadiums worldwide. Before fronting Volbeat, however, Poulsen formed death metal band Dominus, which recorded four fast, brutal albums in the mid '90s. When Poulsen was putting together songs for Volbeat's 2021 album, Servant Of The Mind, he wrote a bunch of death metal riffs and saved them on his phone. Then, when he was done with the Volbeat record, he reopened the rusty gates to Armageddon and started putting together songs for his new death metal band Asinhell, whose debut album Impii Hora (Latin for Ungodly Hour), is a tribute to Poulsen's favourite old-school groups.

Impii Hora will be released September 29th via Metal Blade. Pre-order it here.

Today, the band has shared new song "Desert Of Doom" and its official video. Watch it below.

"'Desert Of Doom' was inspired by Bolt Thrower, Death, Entombed, and Motörhead. Bang your head 'til it doesn't bang no more!," says Poulsen.

Poulsen has rekindled the death metal fire that fuelled his first band Dominus. He began jamming on riffs with long-time friend and neighbour, drummer Morten Toft Hansen (Raunchy). The two started playing in Morten's tiny garage: no mics, no P.A. — just a drum kit and a combo amp turned all the way up like they used when they were teenagers. Soon, the pair were completing a new song every time they got together. When it came time to add vocals, Poulsen turned to his good friend, who also happened to be one of his all-time favourite death metal growlers: Marc Grewe (Insidious Disease, ex-Morgoth).

"I had known Michael quite a long time and he always mentioned that we should do a death metal project one day, but I never took him too seriously because he was so busy with Volbeat," Grewe says. "Then he called for real and said, 'Yeah, I want to do it now. Are you up for it?' Immediately, I was like, 'Yes, of course!'"

With Asinhell fully formed, the three convened with Volbeat producer Jacob Hansen to produce, mix, and play bass on their debut album. When it was time to add lead guitar to the album, Michael looked no further than friend and The Arcane Order axeman Flemming C. Lund.

The album will be available in the following formats. Pre-order it here.

GREEN LUNG RELEASE VIDEO FOR 'MAXINE (WITCH QUEEN)' THE SECOND SINGLE FROM 'THIS HEATHEN LAND'

Occult rock darlings GREEN LUNG have released a new video for 'Maxine (Witch Queen)', the second single from their hotly anticipated new record This Heathen Land, which will be released on November 3rd via Nuclear Blast Records.

Vocalist Tom Templar comments "We've celebrated British witchcraft in our lyrics since our first EP, and with this new single we wanted to celebrate the most iconic witch of the modern era - Maxine Sanders. The High Priestess at the heart of Alexandrian Witchcraft, Maxine is an unsung national treasure, and one of the first people to connect genuine witchcraft with rock 'n roll back in the early Seventies. 'Maxine (Witch Queen)' is a love song to Maxine from the perspective of a member of her coven, and melds pounding riffage with psyched-out combo organs and stacked, multi-layered vocal harmonies. We were honoured to have several members of Maxine's real life coven appear in the music video, and advise on the ritual elements. Ultimately, the song is intended as a celebration of Maxine Sanders, which we hope will introduce new initiates to her life’s work, and help her legend to live on."

Watch the video for 'Maxine (Witch Queen)' below.

This Heathen Land is the most complete manifestation of the band’s vision to date, fulfilling their long-held goal to, in the words of vocalist Tom Templar, “create the definitive soundtrack to the folk horror film in our heads.” On This Heathen Land, the band have forged a sound and identity that is entirely their own, while maintaining the Sabbathian heaviness and addictive songcraft which made their previous albums so beloved in the metal underground. From the cover art to the vinyl inserts and lyrical themes, This Heathen Land is a painstakingly-researched and executed heavy metal love letter to the folkloric landscape of the UK.

This Heathen Land was produced by Wayne Adams at Bear Bites Horse Studios and was mixed by Tom Dalgety (Opeth, Clutch, Ghost).

Introducing Hunter Oliveri! Singer Drops "Dumb" Video — WATCH

Hunter Oliveri doesn't profess to having it all figured out.

At just 17, the artist is still making sense of himself — who he is, what he stands for, where his life is going. He doesn't arrive as the next ready-made rock star action figure cast in plastic. There is an unquestionable realness about the way he makes sense of life through his music. But he exhibits a surety of mind beyond his years, to create music that connects and inspires, and that will stoke the growing fire of rock's recent renaissance.

Spinefarm is pleased to announce that Hunter Oliveri has signed to the label's international roster. He has also shared the video for "
Dumb."

The clip instantly transports the viewer to a gloriously misspent youth, simply in search of the next feel good moment — be it the next blunt, the next swill of beer, or the next hang session with a friend or a crew. It also offers keen insight into Oliveri's sound and songwriting, not to mention his wild coif of curls!

Watch it below.

"Dumb" boasts a baggy, distorted riff weaving around an earworm melody and a singalong chorus that finds Oliveri chewing over how "I made a home in the chip on my shoulder / I know I could change / but I'd rather be dumb."

It's a fitting look into the heart of a young and hungry artist, who is looking to hold onto and suck the marrow out of his youth and the right here, right now.

"My mom wants me to get a job, two jobs, everything's expensive as fuck, I have friends making more on OnlyFans than college graduates/doctors, everything's dumb," Oliveri says. "So I tried to grab the feelings I have on the daily of: What is the point of doing what my parents want me to do when shit just feels dumb as fuck?”

He continues, "I bet a lot of kids could relate to having people tell you to go to college, find a steady career, have a family, and be a part of this fucked up system, when in reality, I just want to be a kid my entire life, chase girls, skate, smoke, hang with my friends, and make music. I hope the song connects with anyone who just wants to forget all their problems and live life without all the bullshit. Just rather be 'Dumb.'"

So what else do you need to know about Hunter Oliveri, whose previous single "Kids" was tipped by Pigeons + Planes? Plenty!

His songs channel the alternative and grunge blueprint of his musical heroes — like Chris Cornell and Soundgarden, Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins — imbued with the playful opaqueness of Kurt Cobain's lyricism and the easy slacker hooks of Weezer.

Like all of Oliveri's music, it speaks to the messiness of growing up. It sounds exactly like that, too. He simply writes what he knows.

There are songs about partying too hard and songs about loving too much; songs about last night's headrush highs and the morning-after's anxious comedown. There are songs for when you seek the comfort of relatability, and there are songs for when you want to simply say "fuck it all."

They are the product of the humble authenticity of someone who's grown up in a place no different to a million others the world over. Most have never heard of Paso Robles, CA, and might never again. There's sunshine, strip malls, and vineyards that outnumber venues ten to one, where the nearby underground music scene of San Luis Obispo a few miles down the road is more accessible than anything resembling the bright lights of L.A. two hours to the south or San Francisco up north. "It's a boring city, but we make the most of it," Oliveri shrugs. "We'll go skating, or hang out and smoke. And anyway, it's fun to go moshing in someone's basement."

It's no surprise, then, that Oliveri is used to creating more interesting scenes than those that existed outside his window. As a kid, he would do so in the stories he dreamt up in his bedroom. "I like writing stories about worlds I'd want to live in," he says, "which made my own world seem so much bigger."

Such creativity inevitably morphed into songwriting in his early teenage years — though music had long since embedded itself within him. "I was probably four years old when I first heard 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' around my parents’ house," he recalls of music's omnipresence in his life. "I never knew the name of the song but every time I heard it, I'd be like, shit, it's that song. It would give me this majestic feeling." He laughs that his mom holds a video recording of her son gamely plucking through a rendition of a Metallica song (it was the epic "One") at his Kindergarten graduation performance. His dad — an avid fan of Korn and Tool — meanwhile tells him that his parents met at Woodstock; not the peace-and-love of Woodstock '69, but, more aptly, the confusion-and-chaos of Woodstock '99.

A chance meeting at age 14 with a local producer's father while in a coffee shop with his grandpa was the first domino to fall in Oliveri's music story. The rest is a history still to be written. "I've been so incredibly lucky, but I've manifested this, too," he says. "I've always known writing music would be my life. I just had to make it happen. It was hard to find kids around my city that played instruments and wanted to be in a band, but I've been writing songs every day in my bedroom since I was maybe 13 years old. It takes me to a different place."

Those songs are anthems for those disassociated with the world on their doorstep, the soundtrack to growing up marooned inside a digital world that Oliveri speaks of with disdain as "rotting people’s brains."

"I want to bring people into my world through my music," he adds. "I want people to feel something when they listen to my music, and to relate to me, and for me to be a friend and an outlet for them."

And as for everything else?

Well, he'll figure it out as he goes.

The band's sophomore release Welcome, their first pairing with legendary producer Toby Wright (Alice in Chains, Metallica, Korn, Primus) which Rolling Stonecalled, “a self-preserving transition from new metal to art metal”, went on to sell over 500,000 copies and spawn the hit Rock singles “Poem”, which peaked at #5 on the Mainstream Rock charts, and “Mine”, helping propel Welcome to over 50 million digital streams. CARNATION Reveal the Rot on new single 'Metropolis'

Like so many of the best death metal bands, Carnation aren't shy about delivering capital punishment. "You will die in the darkness / Forfeit your life to progress", growls Simon Duson on "Metropolis", reaching all the way into the pit of his stomach.

"Metropolis" is punishing. The latest single off 'Cursed Mortality" will bludgeon your eardrums with grinding riffs and a blast beat that barrels full steam ahead, like a train with its brakes cut. But it also comes with a personal touch.

While the song gets its name from Fritz Lang's 1927 sci-fi classic, Duson is painfully familiar with the relentless pace of modern life, having had all the life sucked out of him by a previous job.

"'Metropolis' reveals the corruption and filth concealed beneath the glitter and glamour of our world, echoing the dark undertones of our civilization's relentless advancement", says Carnation. "This song is a haunting reminder that often, what lies beneath the surface is far more enigmatic than meets the eye".

Faithful fans will undoubtedly find what they have come to love and expect of Carnation  on ‘Cursed Mortality’. However, they can also expect the unexpected, as the band venture further into previously unknown territories.

The artwork for 'Cursed Mortality' was masterfully crafted by the late Mariusz Lewandowski (†), who is renowned for his remarkable talent in creating majestic. dark. surrealist. masterpieces. Lewandowski's haunting visuals perfectly capture the essence of the album.

Carnation also collaborated with the revered Lord of the Logos, Christophe Szpajdel, who created a brand new logo that perfectly encapsulates the essence of ‘Cursed Mortality'. Known for his iconic designs and ability to bring forth the spirit of the music through typography, Szpajdel's contribution further solidifies the album's visual identity.

The second decade of Carnation begins now. Prepare for an intense journey concerning the exploration of fleeting mortality.

For the last decade, CARNATION has been at the forefront of reviving old school death metal. There’s something to be said about the artfulness of taking something so primitive and walking that fine line between keeping its classic authenticity without sounding tired or dated. CARNATION has always teetered this line, injecting a fresh and contemporary approach without losing the genre’s time-honored traditions. However, the band’s third endeavor sees CARNATION erasing those boundaries entirely and abandoning any and all conventions as they traverse into daring new territory. ‘Cursed Mortality’ pulls the Belgian death dealers deeper into experimental new waters, taking risks as the band steps out of the shadows of its predecessors and comes into its own identity. 'Cursed Mortality's' statement is clear: This is no longer simply a revival; this is CARNATION’s rebirth.

“We still play death metal and we still identify as such” explains frontman Simon Duson. “But we know that this is also our second decade performing it. And while it is very important for us to stay true to the old-school style, we know we had to open things up a bit and reach out to those who might be interested in extreme metal, but aren’t that much into the old aspect of it. It also feels fresher to us because we’ve decided to change our visual approach, with a new logo, a new look on stage and so on. In a way, it really feels like the beginning of a new chapter for CARNATION.”

Album number three is much more than just a new chapter, but rather feels like a sequel to an already storied career, punctuated by press accolades, an impressive history of live performances, and a lauded discography consisting of several EPs, splits, and two critically acclaimed full-length albums.

With the debut of its first EP in 2015, CARNATION quickly garnered the attention of fans, media, and most notably of all, record label Season of Mist, who quickly noticed the band’s potential and picked them up without hesitation. Upon forming this union, the band dropped its first full-length, ‘Chapel of Abhorrance,’ in 2018. Angry Metal Guy astutely noted that the Belgians’ debut album was “one of the best death metal debuts of the year, and CARNATION have earned their place as one of the most promising new bands in the genre'' while Distorted Sound Magazine echoed these remarks, calling ‘Chapel of Abborhance’ “one of most brutalizing, well executed and, above all, fun, death metal releases of 2018'' in its 9/10 review of the album.

CARNATION’s momentum only seemed to pick up from there. The band kept busy on the road, performing a variety of tours with their death metal brethren in Deserted Fear, Schirenc Plays, Pungent Stench, and Pestilence, while headlining stages in Japan and Brazil. Upon conquering the live circuit and laying waste to audiences across three different continents, the band unleashed its 2020 opus, ‘Where Death Lies,’ which broke them out from the underground with the kind of seismic force that most bands can only dream of. If the critics liked ‘Chapel of Abhorrance,’ ‘Where Death Lies’ was the moment they fell in love, enamored by Carnation’s relentless brutality and crushing precision.

While touring had been halted that year, CARNATION never stagnated nor waivered. The band’s tenacity paid off with their sophomore effort being named among one of the best records of the year by The Pit, Chicago Music Guide, Pandemonium Metal, and many more, while the single “Iron Discipline'' was singled out by Loudwire as one of the best songs of 2020. Legacy outlet Kerrang! also took notice, ranking the band among the “50 Greatest Death Metal Bands Right Now,” cracking the top 20 picks.

While the Belgian slayers still stay true to their roots, they step outside of their comfort zone with more groove, melody, and progression, showcasing their versatility as musicians and clearly defining their own unique sound. ‘Cursed Mortality’ sounds darker, with passages of melancholic melodies that compliment the heaviness.

Most bands might feel anxious about making such dramatic changes, especially to incorporate clean vocals within such extreme music, CARNATION embraces the unknown and does not fall victim to fear or monotony. “As artists, it's something natural,” explains Verstrepen about why the band has shifted direction. “Doing the same thing over and over again doesn't inspire us. We love to create and we love to explore new paths. We knew some people wouldn't like clean vocals in death metal, but we don't want to think of that too much. We stand 100% behind our music and we really like what we did here. Some people will drop out, but there will definitely be others joining! As Lemmy would say, 'You win some, you lose some.'”

Indeed, a personal metamorphosis is always a risk, but one that historically has paid off. The first records of bands like Black Sabbath, Carcass, Death, or even Bathory sound nothing like the mid-late era offerings of those very same artists, and yet, those records that strayed off the beaten path are regarded as some of the most seminal albums in the history of metal. Playing it safe sounds easy, but it isn’t always a part of a legend’s origin story. And CARNATION isn’t here to play by the rules; the band is ready to take a leap of faith and redefine an era.

CANADIAN PROTO-PUNK GREATS TEENAGE HEAD RELEASE ‘PERFORMANCE: LIVE AT HEATWAVE’

First time ever released! Vinyl LP and DVD Documentary Film

In the summer of 1977 when the whole punk scene was blossoming in Toronto, word hit the street that some big-time manager was looking for the best punk band in Toronto. That guy turned out to be John Brower and he decided the best Toronto punk band was Teenage Headfrom Hamilton, Ontario, and the area’s answer to the Ramones, New York Dolls, and Stooges. And Brower’s decision was a wise one – Teenage Head (comprised of singer Frankie Venom, guitarist Gord Lewis, bassist Steve Mahon, and drummer Nick Stipanitz) quickly became the most popular Canadian punk band, on the strength of such classic studio efforts as 1979’s self-titled debut, 1980’s platinum-certified Frantic City, and 1982’s gold-certified Some Kinda Fun.

But it was on the concert stage that Teenage Head was best experienced. And now, fans will be able to hear a vastly sonically improved version of one of their most popular shows recorded in 1980, with the arrival of Performance: Live at Heatwave on September 5, 2023 via SINGMarket.

Pre order link here:
https://market.singidea.com/market/asset/b1933438-b2e1-4dde-a5d0-6912cc8baff3

“Teenage Head was never booked to play the Heatwave Festival, that’s why our name never appeared on the poster or the ticket!,” remembers Mahon. “After our infamous sell out show at Ontario Place on June 2nd, 1980, we were set to headline a festival to be called the ‘Canadian Rock Festival’ on August 20th at Exhibition Stadium during the CNE (Toronto’s annual summer fair). Alice Cooper was set to play the same venue the night before, but when it turned out that Alice was not exactly in shape to get through the show, the thousands of fans in the Stadium expressed their unhappiness and ripped the place apart and did extensive damage to the sound system, as a result our show was cancelled. Our management team contacted our early supporter John Brower who was the promoter of Heatwave and of course he offered us a slot. Our set was recorded by Doug McClement on 8-track half-inch tape on his Comfort Sound truck.”

And according to the bassist, it turns out that the performance became one of the band’s best-known out of near-tragedy. “On September 7, 1980, a little after playing Heatwave we suffered a terrible accident traveling home from a gig in Palmerston, Ontario. Gord’s injuries were devastating, he was out of commission for the better part of a year. So, knowing we weren’t able to play the 3rd annual broadcast on Halloween, we quickly went into Amber Studios, also in Toronto. There, we mixed the Heatwave show, which Q107 did broadcast on Halloween 1980 (which explains all the not-so-great bootleg versions). It’s very possible that we may have never pulled that tape from the vaults had it not been for that accident. We are really lucky to have had these tapes. Now thanks to the wizardry of Peter Moore we finally have a great version that captures the power of the day. Doug Arrowsmith used two songs in the documentary Picture My Face: The Story of Teenage Head – and here are the rest.”

Performance:
Live at Heatwave will be available as a killer deluxe package (see below for details), as well as less expensive offerings that focus solely on the 1980 performance. But either way, fans of Teenage Head are in for a special blast from the past, according to Mahon – “So kick back, crank it up, grab a cold one and transport back to Mosport Park, August 23, 1980, it’s a TEENAGE HEAD PERFORMANCE LIVE AT HEATWAVE.”

New romantic post-punks Black Rose Burning reveal 'Fight!', final single ahead of 'Ad Astra' album

"A compelling blend of ominous Goth atmospheres, dark, but dynamic dancefloor anthems, New Wave ’80s tunefulness, and electronics-embedded tech tracks, all draped with the silky, reflective, and longing vocals of George Grant" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Leaning towards Ultravox and Colourbox on the new wave spectrum, they sometimes channel vibes from Phantasmagoria-era The Damned and Butterfly on a Wheel-era The Mission" ~
Amplify Music Mag

"Space might be the final frontier but Black Rose Burning are already stellar" ~
Onyx Music Reviews

"Smoulders from the ashes of goth-rock, whilst emerging from the dry-ice ambience of 80s nostalgia. Like a noir-new romantic, Black Rose Burning peacock preens from the underworld of art-pop, whilst intermixing its post-punk palette" ~
The Manc Review

NYC-based alternative rock outfit
Black Rose Burning presents their invigorating new single 'Fight!', a potent taste of their third full-length album 'Ad Astra', mastered by Jason Corbett of ACTORS at Jacknife Sound.  Earlier, the band released the singles 'Night Terrors' and 'Sing to Me (E.L.E.)'

Formed in 2018 by instrumentalist, producer and engineer George Grant, Black Rose Burning also involves guitarist Frank Morin (World Inferno Friendship Society) and drummer Luis Infantas (Monster Zero).

“The final single before the release of the full 'AD Astra' record, 'Fight!' was written from a standpoint of someone who is unhappy with a partner or a relationship and has essentially given up but, for whatever reason, won’t or can’t just end it,” says George Grant.

"It always seems like you’re in the midst of one great big battle. I think there are many reasons why this happens, from loyalty to fear of being alone to sometimes even selfishness. It’s painful to realize that your belief in someone/something that you once felt had so much promise and potential has deteriorated to the point that you have no choice but to let it all go.”

'Ad Astra' was recorded in George’s own studio,
PV Recording Company, which has hosted notable artists over the years, including Emelio Zeff China (Peter Murphy), Knox Chandler (Siouxsie And The Banshees), Chibi (The Birthday Party Massacre), Nellie McKay, Julia Marcel, Paul Bakija (Reagan Youth), Ego Likeness and Voltaire (with whom Grant also played bass for 10 years).

Grant says, “This new music marks the debut of the entire band recording together, instead of me playing all the instruments and programming drums. It takes everything to a whole new level in terms of feel and especially in musicianship."

In 2021, Black Rose Burning released their second album 'The Wheel', one year after debuting 'The Year of the Scorpion' album. George Grant's soulful vocal delivery, instantly recognizable voice, solid instrumentation crossing several genres are standout features of this music. Roughly 40 years of songwriting across various genres has helped George embellish on clever hooks, drive and the gothic-pop sensibilities of The Cult's early years.

'Fight!' is out now exclusively via
Bandcamp. The 'Ad Astra' album will be released on September 15 on CD and also available digitally from fine music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.  That same night, Black Rose Burning will be playing their album release show at NYC's Mercury Lounge for The Red Party.

Toronto-NYC power trio ON relases 'Gator' single & announces North American tour dates with The Veldt and Snailmate

"A cool album. A smart album. A deftly crafted album. A rock album? Yes…but much more. So much more" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"A clever blend of pop melody with raw rock abrasiveness in quite a potent sonic sucker punch. Their very tight weave of classic and alt rock coated grunge works fabulously" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Its DNA intwértwined with sounds once pounded out by the likes of the Pumpkins, Hole and L7...  one of the most exciting outfits to emerge post-pandemic" ~ Global Texan Chronicles

Toronto-NYC indie rock power trio
ON is back to blow our minds with their fresh single 'Gator', released via Toronto-based imprint Indiestructable Records. Like a 2000-pound-per-square-inch bite force from an Alligator, this 6/8 groove is a hook-laden rock waltz. It’s a parody and observation about living in a gated community amongst live Alligators roaming free. Gator’s meaning is two-fold.

ON is a riveting power trio led by Lucy Di Santo (vocals, bass) with Dan Cornelius on drums and Steve Fall on guitars. Their latest music output sees the trio carry on the legacy of the band from which they were formed - 90's Sire Records band
Acid Test. its members have also been in other popular Toronto bands Danko Jones and Deliuss.

“This song was written while the band was on a writing/recording session in Naples, Florida. We stayed in a gated community - meaning pass codes to enter the neighborhood and real “surveillance”. In the community was this pond - with freely roaming alligators. And there we have it - we think we are boundless and free - and yet we have lines and gates to keep us so called “safe”. There is the illusion  - masking the element control as “safety”…. While the alligators roam freely.  One begs to ask:  who of the two “gators” is really free here?” says frontwoman Lucy Di Santo.

'Gator' single  https://bit.ly/3L9kQdw

Dishing out infectious guitar riffs with a dash of groove, their adrenaline-laden music is a invigorating, the band paying homage to their post-punk, grunge, old-school funk and 90s college rock roots. 'Gator' follows up the band's latest single 'Make Me', a song of frustration and wanting to recapture that euphoria.

“We had a cool riff and Lucy had a great melody but we didn't have an intro to the song. We were working this up demoing it in Drew's 'Starsound Studios' in Cape Coral , Fla. Lucy took a break, went into the truck we rented and hummed a melody. I copied it on my guitar through my cheap Blackstar practice amp w/the delay feature and we put it down as a track. The vibe just worked so we kept that original track in the main verse and as a hook throughout the song. And that original track stayed even as we added more layers and mixed," says Steve Fall.

Dan Cornelius adds, “The song has a strong guitar hook and melody - and the drums are tailored to  support and enhance those elements. So I thought the drums  should be a drum pattern that anyone could tap along to ON their steering wheel while waiting for traffic. Simple drum groove. Simple drum fills.”

The band is currently busy recording their next record at
BC Studio in Brooklyn with legendary producer Martin Bisi, famed for his groundbreaking work with Sonic Youth, Swans, Brian Eno, John Zorn, Herbie Hancock, Iggy Pop, Helmet, Africa Bambaataa, Dresden Dolls, Unsane, Cop Shoot Cop and many other notable artists.

ON also recently completed an extensive US tour in support of their critically-acclaimed 'ON' album, co-produced by
Darius Szczepaniak (Sum 41, Black Crowes, Big Sugar, Bare Naked Ladies, Jann Arden) at Phase One Studios in Toronto. The album received extensive press and radio attention, not to mention charting in the Radio Indie Alliance charts consecutively for nearly a year.

As of September 5, 'Gator' is available from
fine music platforms, including SpotifyApple Music and Bandcamp.

KALLIAS Announces East Coast Tour for Winter 2023

FOLLOW // STREAM // DOWNLOAD HERE

Progressive death metal rising stars Kallias will be embarking on a run of East Coast performances later this year along with IATT! The 'Reign of Terror' tour will kick off on November 30 in Allston, MA and will work its way down the coast until the final curtain on December 3 in Philadelphia, PA. The full itinerary can be found below!

Kallias will be supporting its brand new full-length, 'First Ascent,' which was just released digitally on August 25, 2023, via AISA Distribution! The record can be streamed everywhere HERE.

Kallias U.S. Tour Dates (Reign of Terror Tour w/ IATT):

11/30: Allston, MA @ O'Briens

12/01: Brooklyn, NY @ The Kingsland

12/02: Clifton, NJ @ Dingbatz

12/03: Philadelphia, PA @ Milkboy

Kallias is comprised of players who are masters of their craft. Nicole Papastavrou's solid history of songwriting and tight rhythms paired with Colin Cook's jazzy and technical leads are the perfect compliment. JP Andrade's undeniably precise percussion serves the music on every level, from jazz-influenced melodic sections to satisfyingly odd rhythms for the eager prog-loving ear. Beautifully woven bass lines by Chris Marrone provide an indomitable structure and embrace for each instrument — never overpowering, yet always highlighting.

For modern day prog and metal fans, Kallias can be compared to bands such as Opeth, Meshuggah, and Decapitated. The quartet holds a musical chemistry that is few and far between and that will keep you in the foreground from the beginning with bone-chilling introductions. This is by no means background music. Kallias creates their own genre for a panoramic audio experience that demands the listener's undivided attention to focus and feel.

Kallias Lineup:

Nicole Papastavrou - Guitars + Vocals

Chris Marrone - Bass + Vocals

Colin Cook - Guitars

John Paul “JP” Andrade - Drums

BIO:

NYC’s BLACK SATELLITE, comprised of Larissa Vale and Kyle Hawken, is creating waves in the rock scene with a sound that’s dark, edgy, and distinctly their own. Fusing industrial and metal influences, their music transcends conventional boundaries – solidifying their place in the genre. The band continues to break new ground through ceaseless hard work and nonstop touring, showcasing their dedication both on and off stage.

Shortly after launching their first single “Valkyrie” from their 2017 debut album ‘Endless’, BLACK SATELLITE garnered attention from press outlets like Billboard, Huffington Post, Revolver, Loudwire, Knotfest, and Alternative Press. The band was also named one of Alternative Press’ “12 Bands You Need to Know” in a print issue of the magazine.

BLACK SATELLITE subsequently released two cover songs paying tribute to Type O Negative, which charted on metal radio.

The band recently concluded writing and recording their sophomore record, ‘Aftermath’, mixed by veteran producer Ben Grosse (Marilyn Manson, Breaking Benjamin, Filter) with tracks produced by Kane Churko (Papa Roach, In This Moment). Their previous single, “Void”, was the first taste of the upcoming album and Knotfest commented on the track, “the first single offers a glimpse into the bold, stylishly dark sound that has made the duo of Larissa Vale and Kyle Hawken such a promising prospect.”

BLACK SATELLITE has since completed back-to-back tours as direct support for John 5, Fozzy, and Nita Strauss, with additional appearances at Metal In The Mountains Festand Blue Ridge Rock Fest. BLACK SATELLITE also toured supporting Cold and Sumo Cyco in Spring 2022, as well as Drowning Pool in Fall of 2022. The band joined the Double Trouble Live Tour with co-headliners Cradle of Filth + DevilDriver as direct support in March 2023. They will be continuing with the second leg of the tour in October 2023 directly followed by a massive Fall tour with Wednesday 13.

Satellite Citi Release New Video For "Anxious Hearts"

The Los Angeles-based hard rock duo, Satellite Citi, have today released their latest video to accompany their recent single, "Anxious Hearts". Fans can listen to the track HERE, and watch the brand new video below.

Speaking on today's single release, Anna Gevorkian (vocals/drums) shares:

"We had the honor of co-writing “Anxious Hearts” with some really incredible musicians, Taylor Carroll (Lit) and Arejay Hale (Halestorm). The concept of overcoming anxiety is really a universal one and lyrically we were able to come up with a message that we felt could resonate with so many different types of people. In a world where everyone is so divisive it feels necessary to write a song that cuts through all that."

Sharing insight as the director of the "Anxious Hearts" video, Rosie Geozalian continues:

"We wanted to imagine what the future of entertainment and filmmaking might be like. You already have the algorithm personalizing your feed. You have AR + VR experiences becoming more and more immersive. We imagined a future “cerebral reality” experience that would be tailored to each person’s fears and anxieties. You go to the theatre and the cerebral reality glasses allow you to watch your own fears as a film — imagine exposure therapy as entertainment."

With over 1.5 million streams on Spotify alone, it's no surprise that Satellite Citi have returned with another successful single. "Anxious Hearts" was not only co-written by Lit's Taylor Carroll and Halestorm's Arejay Hale, but also produced by Mike Plotnikoff (My Chemical Romance, Three Days Grace, Papa Roach). The band has more exciting news on the horizon, revolving around new music and even a comic book that will accompany their next body of work. Be sure to stay tuned for more Satellite Citi news coming soon.

WHAT THE PRESS ARE SAYING:

"Satellite Citi’s signature sound of ferocious melodies, energetic drums and clashing guitars, creates the perfect anthem for those determined to fight their demons.”

Huffington Post

"Satellite Citi resurrect the rock genre with a fresh and modern delivery."

New Noise Magazine

Southern California fans also have the chance to see Satellite Citi twice this fall! Fans can purchase tickets for the September 29th show in Palmdale HERE, and HERE for the band's show on October 27th.

Don't miss your chance to see the band live!

ABOUT SATELLITE CITI

Satellite Citi are a Los Angeles based Hard Rock band with front-woman Anna Gevorkian serving as both lead vocalist and drummer. While combining infectiously catchy vocals with thunderous drums, guitarist and backing vocalist, Shaunt Sulahian, provides powerful and distinctive guitar riffs that resurrect the hard rock genre with its originality. The band are joined by anonymous Spacewalkers on guitar, bass and keys for their live show. The distinct sound that Satellite Citi crafts with their unique blend of riff-filled modern rock and melody driven vocals is just as important as their message. The band combines social commentary with a deep appreciation for history and ancestry on their debut album "Fear Tactics". The record thematically also centers around the importance of mental health and represents the band’s own struggles of coping with fear and anxiety, that are even more permeated in today’s culture.

Contemporary Alternative Rock Band, A Doll's House Release Debut Single "HEY WAIT" to all major platforms!

Contemporary alternative rock band A Doll's House will release their debut single on September 8th to all major platforms. The single is already being picked up at radio stations across the country.

"Hey, Wait", the first single from A Doll’s House debut album, Annum, is emblematic of the band’s “chill rock” sound. Produced by Brian Wheat, a contagious groove and honed harmonies tell of a woman who now “lives a life uphill” remembering when “there used to be somewhere to run.”

Annum is the debut album from A Doll’s House. Produced by Brian Wheat (co-founder of the American rock band Tesla), the album is perhaps best described as “chill rock.” Contagious grooves and melodies coupled with true musicianship and honed harmonies, Annum is a refreshing contemporary rock album with pop appeal. The title Annum (Latin for “year”) derives from the last four tracks of the album, which loosely chart the course of a year through the seasons, "Steps to Summer", "Witch’s Tree", 'Chimney', and "Wisteria'.

New music can come from anywhere...even four middle-aged guys. Meet A Doll’s House. A band that is old but new. In the late 80’s, Dav and Seth, two friends in L.A.,started writing songs together. They found Tony --the drummer--and A Doll’s House was born. For a few years, the band played all the L.A. clubs, The Whiskey, The Roxy, The Troubadour, etc. They built a bit of a following and they did well. But not well enough. Life took over and the party ended. They were barely 22 years old. Thirty years later, those same three guys were now in their 50s with established careers as a lawyer, a veterinarian and a TV producer. Married, kids, mortgages --the whole deal. Bucking the odds and embracing the well-worn adage “better late than never,” they got back to making music together. The gods smiled and they were met with two strokes of good luck. First, an L.A. vocalist, Dave Santos, found the original three guys and the four clicked virtually overnight. With a serious lead singer in place, the second bit of good fortune struck. Brian Wheat,a seasoned rocker and record producer, stumbled on A Doll’s House. Brian is perhaps best known as the bass player and co-founder of Tesla –a true American rock band that has charted multiple Top 40 hits, sold millions of albums world-wide and is still going strong. A Doll’s Housewanted to record a self-financed album at Brian’s J Street Studios. Brian heard the songs and decided to take charge of producing the album himself in every sense of the word, from arranging to recording, to mixing and mastering. The result is A Doll’s House first album: Annum. A ten-track album, literally thirty years in the making....Welcome to A Doll’s House world.

About Whiskey Myers
Genre-bending band Whiskey Myers have played more than 2,500 live shows to ever-increasing crowd sizes since their emergence in 2007. In addition to headlining their own sold-out shows from coast to coast at iconic venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Ryman Auditorium, plus performing at marquee festivals Bonnaroo, Stagecoach, Download and more, the six-piece was also personally selected to open The Rolling Stones’ Chicago stadium show in 2019. Their latest self-produced album, Tornillo, available everywhere now via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records, features the No. 17 most-played Americana song of 2022, “John Wayne,” and follows their fifth studio album, Whiskey Myers, which debuted at No. 1 on both the Country and Americana/Folk sales charts, at No. 2 on the Rock chart and No. 6 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart (No. 3 among new releases). In total, Whiskey Myers have sold more than 1.6 million albums and amassed over 2.3 billion streams while earning six RIAA Gold & Platinum certifications as an independent band. Known for their high-energy live show and unique sound, the band praised by Esquire as “the real damn deal” has also earned sync success with features (and an on-screen appearance) in Paramount’s hit show “Yellowstone” as well as Netflix series “What/If,” Angelina Jolie film “Those Who Wish Me Dead” and CBS series “SEAL Team,” among several others. USA Today describes their sound as “a riff-heavy blend of Southern rock and gritty country that has earned comparisons to the Allman Brothers Band and Led Zeppelin,” with Rolling Stone noting “it’s the seminal combination of twang and crunchy rock & roll guitars that hits a perfect sweet spot.”
