GREEN LUNG REVEAL VIDEO FOR HEAVIEST SONG TO DATE 'ONE FOR SORROW'

Less than a month from the release of their hotly anticipated third album, This Heathen Land through Nuclear Blast Records on 3rd November, London's GREEN LUNG have released their heaviest song to date, 'One For Sorrow'. A masterfully crafted blend of traditional doom with gothic synth atmospheres and a crushing slow-motion beatdown, its lyrics exploring the burden of depression make it the band's most nakedly human song yet.

Tom Templar says "This was the last song we wrote for the album, and it's the only song on This Heathen Land that doesn't relate to a physical landscape of Britain, but instead the skies above. It features some of my most personal lyrics yet, but it's still steeped in folklore - the variation of the popular 'One for Sorrow' rhyme at the end dates back to 1780, and is wonderfully creepy. We were delighted to welcome back Julian Firth to play the ornithologist in the music video, along with Blackthorn Ritualistic Folk, who created some incredible costumes and a truly uncanny magpie creature."

This Heathen Land is the most complete manifestation of the band’s vision to date, fulfilling their long-held goal to, in the words of vocalist Tom Templar, “create the definitive soundtrack to the folk horror film in our heads.” On This Heathen Land, the band have forged a sound and identity that is entirely their own, while maintaining the Sabbathian heaviness and addictive songcraft which made their previous albums so beloved in the metal underground. From the cover art to the vinyl inserts and lyrical themes, This Heathen Land is a painstakingly-researched and executed heavy metal love letter to the folkloric landscape of the UK.

This Heathen Land was produced by Wayne Adams at Bear Bites Horse Studios and was mixed by Tom Dalgety (Opeth, Clutch, Ghost).

GREEN LUNG RELEASE VIDEO FOR 'MAXINE (WITCH QUEEN)' THE SECOND SINGLE FROM 'THIS HEATHEN LAND'

Occult rock darlings GREEN LUNG have released a new video for 'Maxine (Witch Queen)', the second single from their hotly anticipated new record This Heathen Land, which will be released on November 3rd via Nuclear Blast Records.

Vocalist Tom Templar comments "We've celebrated British witchcraft in our lyrics since our first EP, and with this new single we wanted to celebrate the most iconic witch of the modern era - Maxine Sanders. The High Priestess at the heart of Alexandrian Witchcraft, Maxine is an unsung national treasure, and one of the first people to connect genuine witchcraft with rock 'n roll back in the early Seventies. 'Maxine (Witch Queen)' is a love song to Maxine from the perspective of a member of her coven, and melds pounding riffage with psyched-out combo organs and stacked, multi-layered vocal harmonies. We were honoured to have several members of Maxine's real life coven appear in the music video, and advise on the ritual elements. Ultimately, the song is intended as a celebration of Maxine Sanders, which we hope will introduce new initiates to her life’s work, and help her legend to live on."

GREEN LUNG Announce New Album "This Heathen Land

The UKs finest purveyors of occult rock, GREEN LUNG, have revealed the details of their highly-anticipated third album “This Heathen Land,” that will be released on the November 3rd via Nuclear Blast Records. Alongside the announcement comes the first taste of the record, in the form of single “Mountain Throne,” a conflux of pyrotechnic guitar work and thrilling hooks.

Vocalist Tom Templar comments "We couldn't be more excited to share This Heathen Land with the world. This album is the culmination of five years of work as a band; an odyssey into the weird and wonderful world of British folklore that melds together our myriad influences - classic rock, doom, NWOBHM, horror film soundtracks, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop - and fashions something out of them that is utterly our own. 'Mountain Throne' was the first song we wrote for the album, and feels like a natural bridge from the old Green Lung to the new. We've always been inspired by the story of the Pendle Witches, and such an iconic subject required an epic rallying cry of a song - we hope that we've done these folk heroes justice!"
