Mikael Stanne comments: "´Become Surrender´ was written and recorded during theDays Of The Lost sessions, but for some reason we left it out of the album. It has been something we have played during festivals and on our tours and the response has been nothing short of fantastic, so we decided to release it in the interim before we start rolling out singles for the second album. The video was shot during our sold out show at Pustervik here in our hometown of Gothenburg in front of a few of our closest friends and hopefully the joy and love we felt in the room that night shines through.
It's a song about perseverance over distance and not giving in to despair or doubt. Turn it up!”

THE HALO EFFECT Presents Visualizer For "Path Of Fierce Resistance"

Purveyors of the legendary Gothenburg sound THE HALO EFFECT have presented us with a visualizer for the song ´Path Of Fierce Resistance´, which was previously released as a Japanese exclusive on the band’s globally acclaimed debut album Days Of The Lost, that was released in August 2022.

Now, the ferocious track is finally being released to the rest of the world, before the band embarks on their first US headline run in May and gets back to the studio to work on their next full-length album.

Frontman Mikael Stanne comments:"Path Of Fierce Resistance" is a song we wrote for the Days of the Lost album but it only surfaced on the limited Japanese edition and it has been very close to us and having it here now for all to hear feels fantastic. The new album is in the works and we are incredibly excited about it, so consider this as something to keep you guys going until we unveil what is coming next.

The song is another Jesper and Niclas classic that features everything that we love doing together in this band. Lyrically it deals with unrealistic expectations and about how important it is to follow one's own path and be adamant about it no matter what. We start our tour in the US on the 20th of May and we are beyond stoked to bring this band to America for the first time. Do not miss this!"

Mikael Stanne comments:"The song is about betrayal. Either to oneself or onto others. The clinical and unaffected truth might be hard to achieve but the further we stray from it the harder everything gets. This turned out to be a huge song and landing on this structure and feel took a few tries but I love how it came out and having this come out as the album drops feels incredible. Enjoy!”

THE HALO EFFECT Announces Details Of Debut Album, "Days Of The Lost"

THE HALO EFFECT is the biggest surprise in the metal scene in a long time. After making a big impression with their debut single “Shadowminds” and the follow up single “Feel What I Believe,” the band now announces their debut album for August 12th and kicks off the pre-save phase with a third single and video for the album title track “Days Of The Lost”.

The band featuring guitar heroes & songwriting wizards Jesper Strömblad and Niclas Engelin (ex- IN FLAMES), singer Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILITY), as well as former IN FLAMES members Peter Iwers and Daniel Svensson, presenting another masterclass in Swedish melodic death metal!

Frontman Mikael Stanne explains about the song: “Days Of The Lost” is about finding your place in life, about making that outcast experience into something that propels you forward. We all met in our mid teens and we were all trying to find direction, motivation and meaning. Thankfully we found it in creativity and music and we shared this passion and made something from it that remains an essential part of who we are as individuals and as parts of a whole. So this is us reflecting on our past, while watching a new generation slowly but surely find their path. It's about standing up, being your true self and about not letting anything stand in your way. Our choices and our paths have led to all kinds of things but we wouldn't change a thing.”

The video was shot on a cold day in January at a rooftop at a location in Gothenburg called “Ringön,” that used to be all industrial but nowadays turning into a cool place with all its breweries, clubs, venues and all creative sorts of activities. It is directed by Theo Gabay along with his sidekick Morgan Jensen, who are more known in Sweden for their movie and tv work.

The band comments on the song as follows:

“Feel what I believe" is basically about how it felt growing up and discovering extreme metal in our late teens. Delving into something that was both frightening and alluring at the same time. And having that as the sole focus as you started playing in a band and in essence decided who you wanted to be. That confidence and laser focus is what still fascinates me I love that this somehow endured over the years. This is basically us at 19 screaming "How don't you understand this?". And even if people around us didn't get it at the time at least they could see our passion for it and that's what this song is about.

The video is also reminiscent of the videos we saw growing up. A bunch of long haired people in an abandoned warehouse playing loud music while trying to look cool basically. What we did here though is bring it to another level thanks to Theo Gabay and his amazing team. I love that it captures the vibe of us playing and really enjoying what we do. Also it looks spectacular. Enjoy!"

The year of the corona-pandemic, when the world was forced into a standstill, five old friends finally put an old idea in motion. The result is a brand new band, THE HALO EFFECT, who recently inked a contract with Nuclear Blast.

The members of THE HALO EFFECT are not only masters of their domain, but also pioneers of the Gothenburg melodeath scene, who, at some point, have all been members of fellow Gothenburg icons IN FLAMES: Lead guitarists Niclas Engelin (ENGEL) and Jesper Strömblad (CYHRA), lead singer and lyricist Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILLITY), bassist Peter Iwers, and drummer Daniel Svensson.

"Having grown up alongside Nuclear Blast in the early days of extreme metal, it just makes perfect sense for THE HALO EFFECT to partner with this prestigous label. Getting deeper into the Gothenburg scene, going through hours of archive footage and listening to all the interviews, I though it was a jungle of incest. In the early 90s a bunch of guys moved between IN FLAMES, DARK TRANQUILLITY, CEREMONIAL OATH, HAMMERFALL and many more. We shouldn’t forget that most of the protagonists were still teenagers when they released their first 'Desecrator' or 'Septic Broiler' demo tapes. What looked like incest was just a group of friends who shared a deep passion for metal. You could call it an all-star band but it’s basically just an all-family band. Listening to THE HALO EFFECT is like going to a New Year’s dinner enjoying the best food and drinks of the year. And it’s a pleasure to be invited and share the joy with the rest of the world.
