For two decades, Pop Evil frontman Leigh Kataky has needed to mine the deepest of reserves in order to drag the band up from the blue-collar grassroots of his local Michigan scene to stand proud at the top of the modern rock game. Soaring successes, bitter defeats… Leigh Kakaty has survived it all.

What Remains is the culmination and story of this journey with Pop Evil, laid bare like never before. Continuing in the recent vein of 2023's acclaimed Skeletons, the new opus is both sonically and thematically Pop Evil's heaviest ever offering; a thundering collection of arena-ready modern rock and metal hits in which Kakaty opens heart, mind, and soul.

"There are a lot of issues and things that I've dealt with in this journey of Pop Evil that I've buried for a long time," the frontman explains of this document of resilience, perseverance, and accountability.

Pop Evil were born in North Muskegon, Michigan in 2001, Kakaty drawing on the lessons of a youth first shaped not by music, but by high school basketball — leadership, team work, the drive to improve in the lonely hours put in at the gym at 5am, the will to win suppressing any fear — in order to fight tooth and nail for their break-out moment.

"I was hustling and learning every day to make my dreams come true," Kakaty recalls of his time playing local bars and slinging early EPs out of the back of his truck. "Studying never interested me. Neither did getting a regular job. A knee injury wrecked my shot at playing sports. Music was all I wanted to do from that moment, and I didn't give myself a backup plan. Pop Evil gave me a purpose, and a reason to get up every day. It became a crusade."

Lipstick on the Mirror, their 2008 debut, and its follow-up, War of Angels, brought acclaim and global attention; 2013's Onyx delivered the first of the band's nine No.1 singles and six RIAA-certified gold and platinum plaques, but also a period of darkness brought on by the grief of Kakaty losing his father. "I was completely lost … I had just missed the last five years with my dad, chasing this dream when I could have been with him. I didn’t know if I wanted or could do Pop Evil any more," he says. The band’'s 2017 self-titled album, opened by the smash-hit "Waking Lions" was written "pretty much to save my life" – but in turn “reminded me of the fire I have inside, and that God put me here to make music that could help people."

It's a mission statement enshrined in Pop Evil to this day — and which provided the spark for the genesis of What Remains.

“You're always chasing that one song that can connect with that one person," Kakaty says. "And that process has to start with yourself. There's a lot of personal healing on this record, a lot of things I wanted to get out for my own mental well-being. I'm finally
at a place where I can confront my demons."

Sonically, the album is a riotous explosion of life-affirming noise; a vortex of scything riffs and gut-punch drum beats that regularly give way to Pop Evil's hallmark anthemic choruses.

"We set out to push boundaries," nods Kakaty. "Metal has always been a part of our DNA, but we've never made it such a focal point before. A lot of writing on this record has been about listening to what my soul is saying and letting the songs find their own path, rather than chasing a sound that might fit in on the radio. I think you can really hear the mood and emotion of the album's themes in the music."

Renowned UK producer Fran Ashcroft presents landmark album 'The Songs That Never Were' + video for Colin Moulding-esque 'High Window'

"Liverpudlian psychedelia that’s very soft on the ear and gently melodious" ~  Monolith Cocktail

‘Refreshingly analogue, utterly charming and, by the third or fourth listen, has completely wormed its way into your ear... Waiting For The Britpop Revival’ is built on a chuntering pub-piano with Fran Ashcroft’s softly lilting voice bouncing along as a nice counterpoint to the crunchy guitars colliding in the solo" ~ Joyzine

"A sonic bridge between eras... quite simply superb" ~ Liverpool Sound & Vision

British artist Fran Ashcroft presents his sophomore album 'The Songs That Never Were', released via Think Like a Key Music and a new video for the Colin Moulding-esque track 'High Window'. A renowned producer, Ashcroft's name stands behind dozens of other albums that have come to grace the music plane over the past few decades.

From his very first track, the groovy 'Cabdriver' to the Beatlesque 'I Believe in You', this album delivers intrigue from the very first note to its final cut off. The recently-released cheeky piano-based lead single 'Waiting For The Britpop Revival' comes with a traditional A-side and B-side.

Longtime producer for artists big and small, and formerly of British power-pop trailblazers The Monos, Fran Ashcroft has recorded in some of the world's most renowned studios and with some iconic artists, including Damon Albarn (Blur), Abbey Road Studios, Thunderbirds Are Go!, PRT Records and Studios, Spin Jupiter Spin (Dandy Warhols), Darling Nikkie (Lords of Acid) Big Fish Music in Japan, and Fruits Der Mer Records, to mention a few.

A treasure trove of recordings that defies time, Ashcroft describes this album as "a bridge across time" and "a collaboration between myself and me of fifty years ago", made possible by two broken tape recorders and a little bit of AI technology. Here, he ingeniously constructs a sonic viaduct spanning 50 years to allow something novel to take shape amidst the echoes of his past - one where old and new harmonize in a truly innovative yet delightfully vintage experience.

"I’ve never made a record quite like this one. Nobody has. it was like building a bridge of time between my present day self and me from 50 years ago. The song I heard in my head at 5 a.m. that morning reminded me of one I’d written many years before, which I was never quite happy with.  I thought, you could almost put this new tune right over it. So I dug the old tape out of the archives to see if I was right. And I was - the chords were the same, and it was even in the same key! If I could only remove and replace the vocals on the old mono recording, it would be an entirely new song," says Fran Ashcroft.

"Were there other songs that could be treated in a similar way? Of course there were! I expected these new recordings  to be all be about using AI technology - but that was just a convenient tool, like any other. But this actually turned out to be a collaboration between my present-day self and me from 50 years ago - like some kind of bridge of time had been built between us. It sounds weird, I know - here, each song, whether an old recording or a new idea, was developed and transformed into something completely different from what it was to begin with - as if I were working with a co-writer and a quite strange one at times. But  music exists outside of time and this, I think, makes this record what it is."

This new album shows Ashcroft to be an artist in his own right, following up his 2023 album 'A Tour Of British Duckponds'. Ashcroft also recently added author to his credits, publishing 'The Analogue Approach to Digital Recording' last year via the Crowood Press. As a record producer, he is best known for his less-is-more approach to recording, using the minimum number of microphones and tracks to get the best sound.

From the tender age of 8, Ashcroft knew he wanted to make records. After initial encouragement from Apple Records, he first stepped inside a recording studio in 1973, with a band comprising electric guitar, drums and 2 cellists. This led to securing a publishing deal and forming one of the first British powerpop bands, The Monos, who ultimately endured the inevitable major label traumas. After this, he was able to turn his attention towards producing records, which he has done ever since.

'The Songs That Never Were' is out now, available digitally (as MP3, WAV or FLAC) and as a 350g CD with a glossy 6-panel digisleeve. It can be found on BandcampSpotify or ordered directly from the label.

Atoll Unleash New Album "Inhuman Implants" + Double Release "Human Extract/Inhuman Implants" Vinyl via Unique Leader Records

Extreme metal quintet Atoll has today unleashed their new album 'Inhuman Implants' out on the world, as well as their double-vinyl offering 'Human Extract & Inhuman Implants: The Double Penetration' (via Unique Leader Records). The band has also released their new track "Missionary Opposition" and the accompanying music video taken from the new album. Speaking on today's release, the band commented:

"We are stoked to finally unleash the second half of our two-part album series with our new record, Inhuman Implants. We wrote and recorded it simultaneously with the music off our last release, Human Extract, so it is stacked full of the same bludgeoning onslaught of brutality that you loved on that one. Vinyl fiends rejoice because now both albums are available together as one massive copulating "D.V.D.A." double vinyl / double album. Treat yourself to the new tunes on Inhuman Implants, and then abuse yourself with the Double Penetration vinyl release. We promise it only hurts in a good way."

Stream 'Inhuman Implants' in full here, watch the "Missionary Opposition" video below and snag 'Human Extract & Inhuman Implants: The Double Penetration' here before they're all gone.

Emerging from the scorched desert wasteland in 2014, the Phoenix, Arizona-based death metal quintet, Atoll, has been aggressively serving up their unique style for nearly the last decade. Brilliantly blending groove-based slamming brutal death with more traditional death metal elements, grind, and at times even a sprinkle of ‘core, funk, and thrash. Their composition favors a "riff piling" approach rather than the more common and simplistic verse-chorus-verse arrangement, giving the music something of a progressive element with very few repeated riffs, and less predictable movements. Atoll has remained a staple in the metal fest scene, and you may have caught them live playing with the likes of Skinless, Gorgasm, Ingested, and Aborted. Their love of the tour bus life and an importance placed on always having the highest quality, high-energy performances have gained them a reputation for being a consistent, unrelenting live force.

April 2014 birthed this bulbous abomination that has grown into the mighty Atoll when they conspired to create percussive, not frills, chugging brutality. The band immediately shot up in the local AZ scene and very quickly began to expand their live performances throughout the southwest United States, building up momentum for their 2016 debut album, and straight up slammer, The Gathering Swarm. Produced by the late Griffin “The Father” Kolinski (Knights Of The Abyss) and Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me) the album was quickly picked up and released by Amputated Vein subsidiary, Ghastly Music.

The initial success of their debut album caught the eye of Gorehouse Productions who went on to release the 2017 sophomore album, Fallout Frenzy. The vocals on this album show significant expanse in dynamic range, incorporating highs, mids, and some of the most nasty gutterals you’ll ever hear. Lyrically Fallout Frenzy expanded further on the origins of the band name, embracing themes of the atom bomb tests of Bikini Atoll in the 1950’s, and the subsequent radioactive fallout and mutations that occurred after the bombings.

The critically acclaimed album, Zoopocalypse is released in 2019 through Gorehouse Productions. This album is in-your-face aggression from front to back. A departure from the more rudimentary slams of their earlier works, Zoo implements more technicality, more tremolo and scaling, mathier leads, and a generally more advanced death metal sound that would represent the direction of the band moving forward. The mix/master was completed by Miguel Tereso of Demigod Recordings (Analepsy, Organectomy), and features a guest vocal spot from Matti Way (Disgorge, Abominable Putridity, Pathology)

During the global limbo of lockdown Atoll was able to strike a deal with the legendary Unique Leader Records, and in 2022 put out the Prepuce EP. The mini-release serves as a taster of things to come as Atoll has completed the production of two upcoming full-length albums, scheduled to drop through Unique Leader in 2023 and 2024. This two-part release will be the most technically ambitious to date. Keep your eyes peeled on the tour front, and ears open because, like an atomic tsunami, Atoll is primed to decimate the masses.

As one of the more popular hard rock vocalists in the genre, NYC native Ray West’s distinctive and powerful vocal style defined a niche that he has reigned in for the last 3 decades. As the lead vocalist of Spread Eagle, West’s signature sound propelled a number of mainstay hard rock bangers such as “Switchblade Serenade,” “Scratch Like A Cat,” “Devil’s Road,” and “King Of The Dogs." Having partnered with his longtime musical collaborator, bassist/producer/songwriter, Miami’s own Miguel Gonzalez, the pair have dug deep and brought forth some of West’s most autobiographical music to date. They are excited to partner with Deko Entertainment to present SupaFly: 'The Vibe' and its body of work to fans of their music worldwide.

Here is a pre save for the new single Drowning Man: li.sten.to/drowingman

Here is the pre-save to the album: https://li.sten.to/thevibe

The album drops on March 9 via Deko Entertainment, and the band will celebrate with a record release party at Cagney’s House of Rock n Davie, FL (5981 University Drive)  on March 9th. There will be a complete album play through starting at 9pm, followed by a short set with the band. Additionally, the band will be selling CD's and merchandise at the show.

The show will also serve as a really big homecoming weekend in Ft. Lauderdale. Ray was in a band called Defiance in South Florida in his late teens, and he was truly a beloved local legend before he went off to join Spread Eagle in New York.

"SupaFly's music is on the heavier side," explains West. "It’s got an urban groove, emotionally-charged lyrics that come from a place of strength, and much vulnerability. And since I’m an open book, that’s cool with me.”

SupaFly released a cover of the KC and The Sunshine Band classic “I’m Your Boogie Man” for Halloween, and immediately connected with fans (with the song's video getting over 30K views upon release). This was followed up by one of Ray’s most personal tracks, “Hypothermia”, about a talented musician with dreams of stardom, who ultimately becomes disillusioned with the life he’s chosen.  The accompanying lyric video finds Ray hitting his old stomping grounds – including a stop by the iconic Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ.

'The Vibe' drops the night after West and Spread Eagle perform at the very same venue, fresh off the Monsters of Rock 2024 appearance. West is excited to be able to play these shows in a place he has called home on and off for much of his life.

"It’s a beautiful thing to have the opportunity of playing back to back shows in Fort Lauderdale with both of my original projects, and I am extremely grateful. After stepping off the MORC2024, Spread Eagle will play 3/8/24, and then my SoFlo based band SupaFly will play our album release party on 3/9/24. It’s a chance to converge my past history with my present , and to have all my friends there to enjoy the live vibe and I couldn’t be more excited!”

View lyric video below.

The next single is the album opener, “Drowning Man” and it will hit on March 1st. The Vibe contains 10 tracks in total, and you can pre-order it now along with select bundle items here: https://www.merchbucket.com/collections/supafly

"...you can hear a delicately strummed acoustic guitar here, a traditional flute there. Catchy riffs, most notably on the single 'The Spirit Returns,' coexist with ambitious tracks like the 13-plus-minute 'Moss Covered Bones on the Altar of the Moon,' which waxes and wanes like an epic saga." - The New York Times

About Brantley Gilbert
With back-to-back Platinum albums and a grassroots following millions strong, Brantley Gilbert’s music has been shared, covered and adopted as the soundtrack to Saturday night and Sunday morning by audiences around the world. The Georgia native who started as the defiant life-of-the-party can still go ‘til sunrise, but he’s also emerged as something far greater: the leader of a massive tribe of hard-working, fun-loving believers for whom electric guitar-shredding, rapping, and twang can go hand-in-hand-in-hand. They call themselves the BG Nation, and when the BG Nation watches Gilbert on a stage, they don’t just see a star. They see themselves. Seven No. 1 hits punctuate his career: RIAA 6x Platinum-certified “Bottoms Up,” 2x Platinum “Country Must Be Country Wide,” 2x Platinum “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do,” 2x Platinum “One Hell of An Amen,” Platinum-certified collaboration with Lindsay Ell “What Happens In A Small Town,” and two chart-toppers as a songwriter with CMA Song of the Year nominee “Dirt Road Anthem” and “My Kinda Party.” Gilbert’s landmark record Just As I Am clinched the 2014 American Music Award for Favorite Country Album. Earning praise from the New York Times, NPR, American Songwriter, and more, Gilbert has mined a rich vein of conflict between the party and the pew on all of his albums. Instead of toiling in limbo, unable to enjoy good times for fear of Judgment Day, Gilbert fully lives––rowdy friend, man of faith, devoted husband, smitten new father––just as he is. So Help Me God (Deluxe Edition) is set for release April 21 via The Valory Music Co. and features chart-climbing single “Heaven By Then” with Blake Shelton featuring Vince Gill. Gilbert will join Nickelback this summer for the Get Rollin’ Tour, featuring 35+ dates across North America. Fencer Release Self-Titled Debut Album & Drop "Couch" Single/Video

The Los Angeles based rock trio, Fencer, have today released their long awaited self-titled debut album, via Blood Blast Distribution. This marks the band's first self-produced release, composed of 10-tracks and what is considered to be their most authentic work yet. Fans can stream the album here.

The album release is accompanied by the release of their latest single "Couch." You can stream "Couch" here. You can also watch the special music video for "Couch" below.

Speaking on today's album release, vocalist Field Cate shares:

"Very excited to finally have our first album out in the world. We’ve worked really hard on this and feel it’s the most accurate representation of what we’re all about, proud to have it as the first full length release in our discography. The recent single “Couch” is about boredom and drugs and sitting on your couch all day. The video is as ridiculous and silly as we could possibly make it so we hope it’s something that can make you laugh or maybe get a catchy hook stuck in your head. Please enjoy and make your own meaning of the tracklist we spent the last couple years creating | == |"

Not only was their debut album self-produced, but it was mixed by Henry Lunetta (5 Seconds Of Summer, State Champs, Grayscale) and mastered by Zach Fisher (Weezer, Rancid, Bad Religion). Prior to today's release, Fencer had previously dropped tracks "Junebug""Sanitarium", and "Joseph Courtney" which had racked up over 1.5 million listens across all streaming platforms. Keep an eye out for more Fencer news coming soon.

WHAT THE PRESS ARE SAYING:

"This album is a fantastic example of how to step out and make a scene.

In a mentally visual sense, this album stuck true to the band’s motto of “Everything must be blue.” Each song is a shade of blue, different from the last, ranging from deep, vibrant, and hazy to bright, pale, and cheery. All in all, Fencer couldn’t have put together a better collection of songs as a way to debut themselves. This is an album that will open many doors for the band.

5/5"

CHARM Music

"Field’s soulful, melodic vocals pierce right through you from start to finish and are perfectly accompanied by a bluesy bassline and rhythmic drums. Field’s vocal range on this entire album is beyond impressive.

This album was just a rollercoaster of emotion and you could feel every word rush over you.

Fencer has really set the bar high for their next album."

Hunnypot

"This album has something for everyone and very diverse."

Bleach Bangs

Los Angeles fans also have the chance to see Fencer LIVE tonight at Molly Malone's for their exclusive album release party.

Support comes from OC Natives Crossing I's Dotting T's, alt rock duo Joker's Hand, and the female-fronted It's Butter. Most importantly - Fencer will be bringing their iconic, fuzzy, manic garage opera sound to close out the night and celebrate their album release.

With an amazing setlist, this is a show surely not to be missed.

Tickets can be purchased here or at the image on the right.

ABOUT FENCER

Fencer, the self-defined garage opera band, is leading a new era of rock music with their own undeniably, dynamic sound. The Los Angeles-based trio consists of vocalist and guitarist Field Cate, bassist Scott Sauve, and drummer Cameron Sauve. Only two years after their inception, they became fan-favorite openers for notable acts such as Badflower, The Wrecks, and Dead Poet Society. Tackling the stigma surrounding mental health and its struggles, Field’s emotive and frenetic vulnerability resonates with listeners to further solidify the band’s electric presence. The trio have racked up an impressive 1.5 million listens across all streaming platforms, despite having not even released their debut album. Field’s synesthesia (seeing music in color), Scott’s vigorous bass-lines, and Cameron’s expertise in self-producing flow together to create an eccentric style that is certain to become rock’s newest novelty.

“12 songs that draw on his deep love of country-style songwriting, his stronger-than-ever voice, and a renewed excitement for creating and performing” – Forbes

“Wade Bowen just released one of the best country albums of 2022” – Outsider

Renowned singer-songwriter Wade Bowen brought the music to Music City on Monday night, Aug. 15, with a special pop-up show to celebrate the release of his latest studio album, Somewhere Between The Secret And The Truth, as the project available HERE continues to earn praise from fans and critics alike.

“I’ve got some stories to tell about why I wrote certain songs, but this one here has no story at all,” he shared to laughter from the enthusiastic Analog at Hutton Hotel audience, kicking off the evening with feel-good opener “Honky Tonk Roll.” “Some nights you just want to let go; let loose; let your drunk alter ego come out and have some fun – here we go!”

Bowen performed the full track list throughout the night, sharing anecdotes from the creative process along the way and remarking on the special opportunity to get to perform a full album live in its entirety.

“With this record the last couple years, I found a newfound energy but along with that I dove into ‘80s and ‘90s country, which I’ve always been such a fan of,” Bowen reflected when introducing “The Secret To This Town” midway through his set. “I started writing more along those lines and I think that’s where the production and everything came from on this record.”

Singer/songwriter Ray Fulcher then joined Bowen on stage for their cowrite “If You Don’t Miss Me,” while Clint Ingersoll also made an appearance during their cowrite “Knowing Me Like I Do,” both receiving excited applause from the engrossed audience.

“This is one of those moments in my career that I believe, when I look back, it might be one of my favorite things that I’ll ever do,” Bowen remarked while introducing his critically acclaimed Vince Gill duet off the album, “A Guitar, A Singer and A Song.” “I tried really hard with this song to show the good and the bad of what we do, and why we do it… At the end of the day, when I lay my head down, it’s just me, my guitar, the songs I write and the songs I sing. That’s really all it comes down to and no matter how long or short your career is, that’s what you’re gonna end up with. I thought to myself, ‘man, I hope that I do enough in my career, however long it may be – I hope I do enough where people don’t forget me.”

Today, Aug. 17, Bowen also debuted the official video for the musical homage to a life of song, recently praised by Billboard as “a stunning ode to the creative tug at the heart of singer-songwriters,” offering a striking tribute to the musical friends and heroes who, like Gill, inspire him to keep relentlessly pursuing the dream of music. As Monday’s full-album performance then came to a close with its thematic anchor of a title track, the show was only getting started. Bowen launched into a rapid-fire succession of fan-favorites – taking requests along the way – as he thrilled the crowd with a career spanning selection of songs, including medleys from his 2021 EP Where Phones Don’t Work to the grand finale of hits “Sun Shines on a Dreamer” and “Saturday Night.”

The show capped off a celebratory album release weekend for Bowen, who also appeared at the Country Music Hall of Fame for a songwriting session on Saturday before making his sixth appearance on the Grand Ole Opry stage that night. Bowen will continue to bring the new music to fans as his tour dates span the U.S. through the remainder of the year.

About Wade Bowen
Twenty years and some 4,000 shows into his career, the name Wade Bowen has become synonymous with authentic Country music – and for good reason. An artistic descendant of American icons like Guy Clark, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Robert Earl Keen and more, Bowen is a contemporary link in a Texan chain of roots-rock poets stretching back more than 50 years – yet his ambition never ended at the state line.

Seen as one of the genre’s finest and most genuine modern voices, Bowen’s approach stays rooted in tradition, but also stands on the creative cutting edge. His focus remains on writing unique songs with a literary quality and shifting his sonic territory to match his life, as evidenced by uplifting lead single “Everything Has Your Memory” and new release “A Guitar, A Singer and A Song” (featuring Vince Gill) off his latest album, Somewhere Between The Secret And The Truth, available now via Thirty Tigers.

Wielding a knack for direct, poetic songwriting that never panders, Bowen matches his gravel-road growl to an organic sound spanning the whole of Texas and beyond, tapping both country and rock influences. A dozen albums have shown his sonic diversity – including six studio sets, two live collections, a gospel album and an ongoing series of buddy-country hits with fellow Texan Randy Rogers. Along the way, he’s scored hits and accolades based on quality, not quantity, and continues to perform around 200 nationwide shows each year – including multiple appearances on the venerated Grand Ole Opry stage.

NYC-based cinematic folk-rock artist Jessie Kilguss is back to offer a pure dose of her trademark magical realism with the single 'Great White Shark'. The first taste of her new album 'What Do Whales Dream About at Night?'.

It's been four years since Kilguss' latest studio album 'The Fastness'. Inspired by storytelling and emotion, Kilguss is a former actress, whose acting highlights include the film adaptation of Arthur Miller’s 'The Crucible', starring Daniel Day Lewis and Winona Ryder, and the UK production of 'As You Like It', directed by Royal Shakespeare Company founder Sir Peter Hall.

She made the switch to songwriting after working with her musical hero Marianne Faithfull in the London and Sydney productions of 'The Black Rider', a musical written by Tom Waits and William Burroughs, which was directed by Robert Wilson and also featured Mary Margaret O'Hara.

Produced by Adam Lasus (Yo La Tengo, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Helium)along with Kilguss and her band members, Lasus also engineered the recordings, which were mixed and mastered by Charlie Nieland (Debbie Harry, Rufus Wainwright, Blondie).

This album also features Brian Griffin (Patti Smith, Brandi Carlisle, Lana Del Rey), Whynot Jansveld (The Wallflowers, Butch Walker, Sara Bareilles), LA-based award-winning composer and producer Naren Rauch, and Nathan Schram (Bjork, David Crosby, David Byrne, The Attacca Quartet), with whom Kilguss runs Musicambia, a nonprofit that brings music programs inside prisons.
"In 2018, I was helping teach a 3-day songwriting workshop at a correctional facility for girls (aged 11-14) in upstate NY with the nonprofit Musicambia. We were writing a collective song, going around the circle and everyone was adding a line. I had just read in the news that a man had been eaten by a shark and I thought it would make everybody laugh so I added my line “a Great White Shark ate a man off Cape Cod”. Even though it’s horrendous, it was so far out of left field that everyone did laugh. I got home and decided to turn my line into a song," explains Jessie Kilguss.

"For help, I turned to 'Technicians of the Sacred', an amazing anthology of ancient poetry from around the world, which I came to through Nick Cave’s newsletter 'The Red Hand Files', having recommended it as inspiration for songwriters. There’s an incredible poem in there that’s actually a spell to create gangrene of the nose. It inspired the repetitive nature of the lyrics of this song. Even though the subject matter is truly awful, it’s meant to have a light touch. It’s meant to be funny… Even though I have irrational shark fears when at the beach, I think that sharks get a bad rap. There’s this guy on Instagram (the Malibu Artist), who takes drone footage of Great White Sharks off the coast of Malibu. They’re always out there and they often come very close to people but it’s very very rare that they attack."

In addition to writing and performing her own music, Kilguss also sings with Gramercy Arms, Jim Andralis and the Syntonics and Benjamin Cartel, having previously performed at the Sundance Film Festival and with Freddie Stevenson, supporting The Waterboys during their European tour.

On July 20, 'Great White Shark' will be available across digital platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music. The full album 'What Do Whales Dream About at Night?' will be released on September 23. That same evening (starting at 8:30), Kilguss celebrate her album with a release show at Rockwood 3 in New York.
