Eli Young Band Launches New Era with 'Strange Hours' Album + Tour

After dropping the slinky new single “Strange Hours,” 18x RIAA Gold and Platinum-certified country hitmakers Eli Young Band are back for more, launching a new era with the announce of their Strange Hours album and headline tour. Presave the album HERE.

Set for release August 1, Strange Hours finds the trailblazing group returning to the bold creative defiance of their independent roots – and to Panhandle House Studio in their hometown of Denton, Texas, where their debut album Level was born.

Reviving the raw, grassroots energy and emotional sting of their early work, a brand new batch of country-rock anthems feature Eli Young Band’s signature live-band philosophy, and their chart-topping sound. Along the way, frontman Mike Eli continues to wield one of the most distinctive voices in modern country, leading a band of brothers who write the majority of their fan-favorite tracks.

Featuring 13 songs – all co-written by Eli Young Band members and produced by Jimmy Robbins and Eric Arjes – Strange Hours includes title track with its grooving tribute to a black-magic romance, plus the songs off their  Nothing On the Wild EP. A fearless batch of all new tunes join the previously released “Home In Hometown,” “What Do Lonely People Do,” “I’m Yours Amen” and “Nothing On the Wild.”

Looking back over the course of their 25-year career, the band members say they still feel the magnetic pull of sold-out country music crowds. And it still has them keeping Strange Hours.

“This is a full circle moment for us. Going back home to Denton, Texas to record the album that is our first independent release in years,” shares lead vocalist, Mike Eli. “It was just us in the studio with our producers and a couple of old friends making music that we love! These songs are special to us and this record is the start of a whole new chapter for EYB!“

Eli Young Band Starts 2025 With Starting-Over Anthem, "What Do Lonely People Do"

Starting the new year off with a true starting-over anthem, 19x RIAA Gold and Platinum-certified country hitmakers Eli Young Band return with the tender “What Do Lonely People Do” today (1/17). Listen to “What Do Lonely People Do” HERE.

Written by lead singer Mike Eli and Jeffrey East, the touching new track captures the eternal hope of mending a broken heart – along with the swirl of uncertainty in a mid-life romantic restart.

Built around a catchy but cautious melody groove, a warm Texas-country sound features ringing acoustic guitars and delicate sweeps of steel, as a weary narrator takes the first timid steps toward finding new love. Meanwhile, Eli’s signature vocal pulls optimism and good humor from deep-seated sadness, creating a bar-top ballad defined by sing-along resilience.

A reminder of the band’s universal approach, Eli admits he had to scour his past for the song’s inspiration, finding a balance between rhinestoned romantic regret, and the spirit of renewal.

“It really is one of my favorite songs that I’ve written in a long time – but because my wife and I have been married for many, many years now and have an incredible marriage, I had to dig deep for it,” he explains. “Basically, I don’t know what I would do if I had to jump into the dating pool again. I wouldn’t even know where to start. For me it’s like, ‘That is not a choice,’ so I wanted to find a way to capture a person like that. Someone walking away from a relationship and the focus is really on ‘How do I do this?’

“It’s a really sad story and it made me feel for anyone that has to go through that,” Eli continues. “But to get there, I had to really dig into how I felt in the past when I was younger and my heart had been broken.”

Marking the first new music of the year, “What Do Lonely People Do” follows the 2024 release of the committed “I’m Yours Amen” and comforting “Home In Hometown,” as the never-changing EYB lineup of Eli, James Young, Jon Jones, and Chris Thompson start a fresh chapter.

Returning to their independent roots and the bold creative defiance that launched them into the mainstream with 2008’s Level, a new set of tunes will continue to roll out through 2025. Recorded at Panhandle House Studio in their hometown of Denton, Texas – also the birthplace of Level – it promises to bring fans a full-circle moment driven by experience and a million miles of wisdom, from a band of brothers still very much in their prime.

Meanwhile, Eli Young Band are set to continue their relentless headlining schedule, following a series of sold out shows on their coast to coast Home In Hometown Tour – which wrapped in 2024. Looking ahead, the band will continue on with dates set through July, with stops from Oregon to Ontario, Alabama and beyond.

Now boasting over 19 million RIAA-certified units, the band recently celebrated new certifications of their chart topping, Platinum album Life at Best, plus 5x Platinum single “Crazy Girl” and the 3x Platinum “Even If It Breaks Your Heart.”

Eli Young Band Tribute the Ecstasy of True Love with "I'm Yours Amen"

On the heels of multiple sold out shows earlier this summer, including an at-capacity performance at Washington, D.C.’s The Bullpen, multi-Platinum country hitmakers Eli Young Band release their new track “I’m Yours Amen” today, November 15, giving commitment a swaying soundtrack. Listen to “I’m Yours Amen” Below.

Co-written by lead singer Mike Eli with Jeffrey East, the romantically charged anthem stands as a warm-and-fuzzy tribute to the ecstasy of true love. Featuring a sunset melody and uplifting roots rock sound – led as always by Eli’s distinctive vocal – the track has emerged as a feel-good Country singalong, built on the simple joy of knowing exactly where you’re meant to be.

“When I got the idea for this song I was napping on the couch with my head on my wife’s lap, and she was binging Grey’s Anatomy,” Eli explains. “I remember thinking ‘This is the life!’ – and from that ‘I’m Yours Amen’ was born.

“We wanted to write a song that said everything without saying too much,” he goes on. “I remember me and Kacey’s wedding day like it was yesterday, so it’s incredible to capture that feeling in a song nearly 15 years later.”

The release of “I’m Yours Amen” follows the comforting “Home in Hometown” (dropped earlier in 2024), as the never-changing EYB lineup of Mike Eli, James Young, Jon Jones, and Chris Thompson mark the start of a fresh chapter.

Eli Young Band Honor Those Who Put “Home in Hometown” in New Release & Tour

It’s widely known how award-winning Eli Young Band formed while together in Denton, Texas attending college at University of North Texas, however their journey over the next 20+ years would lead them everywhere, seldomly seeing home in between. With notions of longing ever present in their writing, it’s no surprise as they find their center as releasing music for the first time in three years independently with both home, and those who make it so, at the core. Listen to “Home In Hometown,” below.

A true-to-experience ballad of life on the road, and heart-on-their-sleeve marker of what they've learned in their years away from those they love most. With ringing guitars capturing a sense of anticipation, a steady rhythmic heartbeat and a euphoric singalong chorus, the band unpack what "home" really means.

"When you find the love of your life you’ll follow them anywhere,” shares band lead vocalist and guitarist Mike Eli who penned the song alongside Ryan Tyndell and Jeff Hyde (Eric Church’s “Springsteen” and Keith Urban’s “We Were”). “My wife, Kacey, and I started as a long distance relationship and it was tough to keep it together. When I wrote this I was digging deep into our Texas roots. I wanted to write something that felt like Pat Green or Jack Ingram would cut. And when you travel like we do, a lot of times you're thinking about coming home and being with your family -- but, it's almost like if they meet you on the road, anywhere can be home. It just feels right. I wanted to capture that."

The Jimmy Robbins and Eric Arjes produced track is the first release of more than 140 songs the band has written over the last few years and signifies a new chapter and a new tour.

Looking ahead to the upcoming 25th anniversary of the band's founding, the four members of the Eli Young Band have retaken the reins of their sound and songwriting, reestablishing the go-your-own-way spirit behind their multi-Platinum hits.

Returning to their independent roots -- but also the bold creative edge that launched them from the Texas live circuit into the country mainstream, and in many ways returning to their old stomping grounds -- it's an era driven by experience and a million miles of wisdom, but delivered by a band of brothers still very much in their musical prime.

"We started this thing when we were like 20 [years old], and it's been such a crazy road and such a longer road than any of us could have conceptualized at the time,” bassist Jon Jones shares. “I think right now feels a little full circle, in a really nice way."

"Now, we kind of get to step back into our Texas shoes. I definitely think that this new stuff finds me as a songwriter reaching deep into my personal past and our past as a band,” Eli adds. “We're remembering where the magic was -- all those songs we wanted to record for our Level record, that felt way too edgy for Country Radio at the time.”

Returning to that grassroots rawness, geared for their acclaimed live show has the band reinvigorated.

"We’ve written 143 songs and it’s just the beginning of our next chapter. Going back to Panhandle House where we recorded Level, that record started everything for us. Going back there feels like we get to remind ourselves why we started making the kind of music we make,” Eli says in closing. “When this music comes out, I think fans will know it is 100% coming from us."

Celebrated by The Associated Press as “a smart, relevant antidote” to overdone clichés in Country music, EYB has charted 14 singles on Billboard, including four No. 1 hits with Billboard‘s No. 1 Country Song of the Year and ACM Award for Song of the Year, “Crazy Girl,” “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” 2x Platinum “Love Ain’t” and Platinum “Drunk Last Night.” Additionally, the band has earned multiple GRAMMY, CMA, CMT, ACA and Teen Choice Award nominations.

ELI YOUNG BAND’S SIXTH STUDIO ALBUM LOVE TALKING IS AVAILABLE NOW Title Track Continues to Impress at Country Radio, Across Streaming Platforms

With a musical brotherhood spanning two decades and producing four No. 1 hits, six Gold and Platinum/multi-Platinum certifications, a GRAMMY nomination and more, Eli Young Band releases their sixth studio album today, June 3. Love Talking is available everywhere now via The Valory Music Co. Listen HERE.

As CMT declares, “Mike Eli has one of country music’s most distinct voices and after 20 years of playing with the same guys, the band knows how to own any story country music has to tell and stamp it with their signature harmonious country, rock, Texas blend.” That signature stamp is on full display throughout the album, with Eli serving as a cowriter on seven of the nine songs.

“I found such a creative haven in songwriting over the past couple years of uncertainty, so we had more songs to pick from for this album than ever before,” reflects Eli. “When it came time for us to really listen through and narrow it down, we all collectively realized that the songs raising their hands the most were the positive, optimistic ones. That big, uplifting energy is what we needed as a band in that moment – and we understood that our fans were probably needing it, too, so that’s the vibe we hope this album portrays to the world.”

Love Talking” (Mike Eli, Eric Arjes, Jeffrey East), the title track album opener, is praised by Billboard as an “ultra-romantic” song that “swirls with an irresistible melody and propulsive rhythm.” People also notes that the current radio single follows “the recipe that has thus far resulted in widespread success for the band of brothers” yet still “keep[s] the band fresh.”

The album continues with two songs that gave fans a sneak peek at the new music in recent months. “Lucky For Me” (Mike Eli, Jimmy Robbins, Laura Veltz) showcases EYB’s sound Rolling Stone praises as “backed by force-of-nature passion” over a driving pulse of rapid-fire adoration for an incomparable woman while “Break Up In A Bar” (Ashley Gorley, Ben Johnson, Hunter Phelps) offers a three-and-a-half-minute positive twist on ending a relationship via one of the album’s only outside cuts.

Platinum-certified No. 1 single “Love Ain’t” (Ross Copperman, Ashley Gorley, Shane McAnally) serves as the other outside cut. The sixth most-played song of 2020 on the Mediabase chart was also recently performed by the band during the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C., airing nationally to over 100 million households on ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and CW stations throughout the month of June and broadcasting to U.S. troops on the American Forces Network.

The latter half of the album brings what the band cites as a sonic departure on “Chances Are” (Mike Eli, Eric Arjes, Jordan Minton) as “Live With It” (Mike Eli, Josh Osborne, Daniel Ross) offers a fresh way to describe a universal moment in new relationships. Eli calls “Tell Me It Is” (Mike Eli, Jon Nite, Jimmy Robbins” his most personal on the record, written during the height of the pandemic as he found himself turning to his wife for assurance that all would be okay. Meanwhile, “A Good Thing” (Mike Eli, Eric Arjes, Jeffrey East), meanwhile, has a positive energy reflecting its status as one of the last songs he wrote before things truly shut down in early 2020.

Rounding out the project is an acoustic version of the current single, “Love Talking,” offering a stripped-back take on the song celebrated by American Songwriter as “silky-smooth” to bring the project full circle.

As their Love Talking Tour rolls through the weekend with sold-out shows last night in Dewey Beach, Del. and tonight in Washington, D.C., EYB fans clearly have a lot to celebrate.

Eli Young Band Keeps the LOVE TALKING with New Album on June 3

ELI YOUNG BAND KEEPS THE LOVE TALKING WITH NEW ALBUM ON JUNE 3; PRE-ORDER NOW

Title Track Continues to Impress at Country Radio, Across Streaming Platforms & With Fans on the Road

Break Up In A Bar” Joins “Lucky For Me” & Platinum-Certified No. 1 “Love Ain’t

As current single Love Talkingcontinues to impress program directors, playlist managers and fans alike, multi-Platinum hitmakers Eli Young Band reveal plans for a full-length album of the same name. Love Talking (The Valory Music Co.) is set for release Friday, June 3 and is available for pre-order HERE along with brand-new song Break Up In A Bar.”

“We really wanted to find the positivity in what we got out of the last two years, so that was one of the main goals for this album,” notes lead singer Mike Eli. “There was a lot of unknown that was written into some of the music we created during that time, but we all lived it so deeply; we wanted to offer something uplifting with our music.”

“Break Up In A Bar,” a three-and-a-half-minute raucous response to saying goodbye to a relationship, offers that positive twist on a typically heavy topic while serving as one of the only outside cuts on the album, having been penned by Ashley Gorley, Ben Johnson and Hunter Phelps.

“Right away, you could just hear the melody in the song from the top and know, ‘okay, this is a special one.’ And the spin – it’s one of those songs lyrically you just wish you would have thought of,” reflects Eli, who crafted 7 of the 9 tracks. “We know that that’s always the first rule – if you hear something that you wish you would have thought of it’s worth that second listen. We just started playing it in our live show, and it’s funny to see the audience because they want to know it so bad… That’s a good sign.”

Overall, Eli found himself writing more than 150 songs in the time since the GRAMMY-nominated band released This Is Eli Young Band: Greatest Hits in 2019. On Love Talking, he joins forces with Nashville stalwarts Jimmy Robbins, Laura Veltz, Josh Osborne, Jon Nite and more. Also finding a home on the album is EYB’s Platinum-certified No. 1 hit “Love Ain’t,” whose songwriting credits include Ross Copperman, Ashley Gorley and Shane McAnally, plus preview track “Lucky For Me.”

The musical band of brothers – Mike Eli, James Young, Jon Jones and Chris Thompson – lay a strong foundation for today’s arrival of “Break Up In A Bar” as current single “Love Talking” earns early praise.

American Songwriter praised its “silky smooth” delivery showcasing “the fruits of the band’s recent creative explosion.” All Access concurred, “In this two minute and 50 second smash, lead singer Mike Eli’s voice embraces listeners like a warm hug,” with MusicRow remarking that “the echo gives the sound some extra juice, and the band is as proficient as ever.” In addition, Billboard featured the single as a “Makin’ Tracks” standout and named the song among the best of the week upon its release, noting that “this ultra-romantic new release from the group swirls with an irresistible melody and propulsive rhythm.”

Fans will have a chance to see the new music performed live alongside their multi-decade catalog of acclaimed hits, as EYB returns to the road for their 52-city Love Talking Tour.

The trailblazing group has come a long way since their formation in 2000 at the University of North Texas, with the multi-Platinum hitmakers’ dynamic career thus far producing four chart-topping singles; 3x Platinum “Crazy Girl,” 2x Platinum “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” and Platinum “Love Ain’t” and “Drunk Last Night.”

Eli Young Band Builds on Two Decades of Hits with "Lucky For Me"

For multi-Platinum hitmakers Eli Young Band, the past year at home offered a chance to reset and recalibrate following two decades of success in the music industry. The Texas-based band has used the time for focused creativity, amassing a deep catalog of new songs. That renewed sense of excitement going into their next project is evident on a brand-new song available now via The Valory Music Co. Listen to “Lucky For Mebelow.

Lead singer Mike Eli crafted the feel-good, singalong love song together with Laura Veltz and Jimmy Robbins, who also served as producer alongside Eric Arjes. The resulting track showcases EYB’s signature ability Rolling Stonehas praised as “backed by force-of-nature passion” over a driving pulse of rapid-fire adoration for an incomparable woman:

I needed a softhearted, hardheaded, outspoken, wide open, high hopin’, holdin’ it down
Straight shootin’, sweet talkin’, hell raisin’, line walkin’ angel with feet on the ground
Strong but she’s kind, laughs when she’s lyin’, knows how to throw back a few
Only one in the world, way too good to be true
Lucky for me it’s you

“I wrote so many songs in 2020, which was obviously a scary and odd time for the band and the world,” shares Eli. “This song was written towards the beginning when we still had a good handle on optimism and hope. It’s one of the things I love about this song. It’s about finding that person you’re meant to weather the storm with!”

In the time since their college formation, the band celebrated by the Associated Press as offering “a smart, relevant antidote” to overdone clichés in Country music has amassed 14 Billboard charting singles, including four No. 1 hits via 3x Platinum “Crazy Girl,” 2x Platinum “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” and Platinum “Love Ain’t” and “Drunk Last Night,” while also earning an ACM Award for Song of the Year as well as multiple GRAMMY, CMA, CMT, ACA and Teen Choice Award nominations.
