BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville - 60th Academy of Country Music Awards Recap

Lainey Wilson, for the second consecutive year, was awarded the top honor at the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards with her win as Entertainer of the Year. Throughout the broadcast, she would capture a total of four awards (tying for top recipient of the night) including her third back-to-back win as Female Artist of the Year, her second win for Album of the Year with her latest release Whirlwind and her first win as Artist-Songwriter of the Year. The 16x ACM Award-winner also took the stage twice as a performer. First, she shared the title track “Whirlwind” from her ACM Album of the Year and later she performed “Trailblazer” with Reba McEntire and Miranda Lambert. “Trailblazer,” available now, was also penned by Wilson, Lambert and Brandy Clark.

Jelly Roll, a 3x Nominee at the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards, hit the stage with his latest single “Heart of Stone,” a release from his latest album Beautifully Broken that is currently climbing the country charts. He would be joined on stage with Shaboozey as they delivered their collaboration “Amen.”

Blake Shelton, a 6x ACM winner, shared his 30th #1 single “Texas” in the program and would return to present Entertainer of the Year to Lainey Wilson to close out the awards. “Texas” is available on Shelton’s new album For Recreational Use Only, which is available today.

BLAKE SHELTON’S FOR RECREATIONAL USE ONLY — OUT NOW

Hot off his 30th career No. 1 with the twangy, swagger-packed “Texas,” Blake Shelton drops his new album For Recreational Use Only — a 12-track dose of country grit, charm, and heart available now via BBR Music Group/Wheelhouse Records. Listen Below

“I can’t believe it’s been four years since we released an album, and I’m excited to get the whole record out there,” said Shelton. “I’ve always been someone who wants to collect great songs but sometimes the hardest thing to do is to find something that hasn’t been said or written before or a melody that we haven't heard. I’m always on the search for that. I look back over the years, and I’m just proud because some of those songs don’t sound like anything else. And I think we did it again with this album.”

To celebrate the release, Shelton performed “Texas” on the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards and he will take over national television next week. On Tuesday, May 13, he’ll perform live from the Today Show Summer Concert Series stage at Rockefeller Plaza before stopping by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon later that night. He’ll close out the week on Friday, May 16, with a reunion on The Kelly Clarkson Show, joining his former Voice rival and longtime friend.

One of the most personal cuts on the record is “The Keys,” a melodic slow-burn co-written by HARDY that Shelton says hit him straight in the gut. “You know, I’m not the kind of guy who hangs on to a lot of stuff, but I’ve got this weird habit—I don’t throw away old keys,” Shelton explains. “Apartment keys, truck keys, padlock keys—I keep them all. So this song really got to me. The story, the melody, the way it wraps up at the end... I couldn’t shake it.”

HARDY, who also co-wrote the already released fan-favorite “Let Him In Anyway,” sent Shelton the demo with him specifically in mind. “This one’s more in my lane than his,” Shelton says. “It’s got the feel of those mellow, romantic tracks I’ve done through the years—like ‘Drink On It.’ Songs like this are why I still love making records.”

For Recreational Use Only marks Shelton’s first studio album in four years and his debut on BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. With guests including Gwen Stefani, John Anderson, and Craig Morgan, the project is a rowdy, reflective ride through heartbreak, backroads, and the kind of Southern wisdom you only learn the hard way. It's Shelton at his most grounded—and most freewheeling.

“TEXAS” SIZED No. 1 FOR COUNTRY SUPERSTAR BLAKE SHELTON

Country music superstar Blake Shelton has often said that all he ever wanted was to sing country music, have his songs on the radio, and maybe—just maybe—have a No. 1 hit. He achieved that dream with his 2001 debut single “Austin.” This week, he does it again for the 30th time in his career with Texas,” the lead single from his forthcoming album For Recreational Use Only, out Friday, May 9. The song also enjoyed eight weeks at No. 1 in the U.K. and a two-week run at No. 1 in Canada.

“It’s been a few years since I’ve had a solo No. 1 single, and I’m super fired up about this one,” said Shelton. “I had no idea if ‘Texas’ would be a number one song, but the first time I heard it, I knew that it was something different and it sounded like nothing else I'd ever done before.”

Produced by Shelton’s longtime collaborator Scott Hendricks, Texas was written by Johnny Clawson, Kyle Sturrock, Josh Dorr, and Lalo Guzman. The track marks the first No. 1 single for Clawson, Sturrock, and Dorr, and the second for Guzman.

“I'm excited for these songwriters,” Shelton continued. “I know it's some of these guys' first number one song, and anytime you have a situation where someone's getting their big break and you can be a little tiny part of it, it makes it extra special.”

Shelton joins a small country club of artists who have 30 or more No. 1 country singles, including Country Music Hall of Famers George Strait, Alabama, Kenny Chesney, and Ronnie Milsap (based on R&R plus Mediabase statistics kept since 1973). The milestone has him reflecting on the road that brought him here. “‘Texas’ marks my 30th number one as an artist. Thirty is a lot of anything, and to have 30 number one songs is unbelievable, and I’m really trying to take it all in,” he said. “I have to thank the fans and the industry for their support throughout these years.”

“I’ve always been a nerd for stats and things like that in country music,” he added. “I’m always looking up artists’ stats, whether it’s Ronnie Milsap or Alabama or George Strait or Reba, and just to see how many albums they've sold or how many number-one songs they’ve had, and because of that, the idea of me having 30 number one singles, it blows my mind. I can’t even wrap my head around it because I know how long it takes to get there and how hard it is, and how blessed and lucky you have to be to get here.”

Also arriving this week is For Recreational Use Only, Shelton’s first studio album in four years and his debut onBBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. The 12-track collection spans the full spectrum of life—grit, heart, swagger, and soul—showcasing Shelton’s unmistakable voice, vivid storytelling, and emotion-rich performances.

With this release, Shelton reinforces his place as a cornerstone of modern country. For Recreational Use Only is a personal yet universally resonant body of work that celebrates love, endurance, and staying true to your roots.

Blake Shelton Teams With Anomaly Content & Entertainment for Documentary on Keith Whitley

Lucky Horseshoe Entertainment and Anomaly Content & Entertainment (ACE) are excited to announce the production of a groundbreaking documentary film centered on the life and influence of country music icon Keith Whitley which will start filming in January 2025. Produced by Blake Shelton and Lee Metzger of Lucky Horseshoe Productions, along with ACE Partner Evan Hayes (Free Solo) and ACE Partner and CEO Justin Barocas serving as Executive Producer. The film aims to unveil the personal and professional journey of one of country music's most influential and celebrated figures.

Zach Heinzerling, an Academy Award-nominated director renowned for his work on acclaimed projects like “Cutie and the Boxer” and “McCartney 3,2,1,” is set to direct the film.

“Thanks to Blake, we finally have the chance to uncover the truth behind the legend that is Keith Whitley: a layered and heartbreaking story of talent, hardship, and love that is long overdue,” Heinzerling states.

Keith Whitley, who passed away at the age of 34, left behind a legacy that continues to inspire countless artists like Blake Shelton, Morgan Wallen, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Ronnie Dunn, Alison Krauss, Lainey Wilson and Reba McEntire, who was a backup vocalist on Whitley’s debut album. Whitley was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2023. This film will delve into Whitley's life, his struggles with addiction, his profound love for fellow country singer Lorrie Morgan and the impact of his music on the industry.

The documentary will feature extensive archival footage from the Country Music Hall of Fame and personal collections from Lorrie Morgan, providing a rich tapestry of Whitley's life and career. It will also explore the small town of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, where Keith grew up, and include reflections from Lorrie as she navigates her own career while honoring his memory.

Blake Shelton, producer and lifelong admirer of Whitley's work, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Keith Whitley released only three albums during his life, but his music has influenced generations of country music artists and fans.

“Gwen and I love to watch music documentaries, and I looked for his doc one night and couldn’t believe that there wasn’t one,” Shelton adds. “I’m proud and honored we get to bring his incredible story to film.”

“It’s an honor to bring Keith’s story to a wide audience,” added Lee Metzger. “He’s the kind of singer everyone knows the songs when they hear them but doesn’t know the story of the singer who performed them.”

Award winning producer Evan Hayes (Free Solo, The Way I See It) said, “What drew me to this project was the idea of tapping into a pop culture story that lies slightly beneath the surface. Here is this guy who is so important in the country music world - he inspired the modern Star Is Born, Morgan Wallen wrote a song about him and his music - and a lot of people don’t know his name. To be able to explore this character and this love story that had permeated pop culture country music in such an impactful way and to introduce it to mainstream audiences is exciting.”

As this project progresses, fans and newcomers alike can look forward to discovering the man behind the music, his legacy and the love story that shaped his life.

BLAKE SHELTON SECURES BIGGEST RADIO ADD DAY OF HIS ENTIRE CAREER VIA WHEELHOUSE RECORDS FOR ANTHEMIC SINGLE “TEXAS”

Country superstar Blake Shelton today secured the biggest radio add day of his entire storied career with his anthemic single “Texas” via Wheelhouse Records. Earning over 149 first-week Mediabase stations (156 overall), the commanding new track is Shelton’s debut release on BBR Music Group / BMG Nashville and kicks off an iconic new chapter to his outstanding career.

“I moved to Nashville the month after I graduated from high school to sing country music and hopefully get to hear one of my songs on the radio,” said Shelton. “After all these years, it’s still exciting, and thanks to fans for listening and coming out to shows. I can’t wait to play ‘Texas’ live!”

To view a surprise celebration for the milestone accolade that was hosted earlier today for Blake at BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville, click HERE.

Released Friday (11/15), “Texas” was an immediate hit across all platforms, including People Magazine, which called the new song “rollicking.” At the same time, Country Now said, “Sonically, ‘Texas’ breaks new ground for Shelton, redefining his sound by exploring fresh creative boundaries.”

Produced by Shelton’s longtime, award-winning producer Scott Hendricks and written by Johnny Clawson, Kyle Sturrock, Josh Dorr and Lalo Guzman, the infectious groove finds a man left in the dust by a free-spirited woman who has no clue where she has gone, but speculates she’s probably in Texas. Putting a fresh twist on the age-old theme of lost love with a gentle nod to George Strait, who knows best where all the exes go, it’s drenched in classic Texas charm, enticing listeners to sing along.

From executive producers Blake Shelton, Taylor Sheridan, Lee Metzger and David Glasser, the docu-follow format trails a headlining superstar (to be announced) on their journey to discover the next big artist. Singers will join the headliner on tour, performing as opening acts in venues across the country. They will compete to win over local fanbases to secure a spot in the next city and remain on the tour.

The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, Glasser’s 101 Studios with Shelton and Metzger’s Lucky Horseshoe Productions. Taylor Sheridan and David Glasser serve as executive producers. Blake Shelton and Lee Metzger serve as executive producers for Lucky Horseshoe Productions.

I’m looking forward to discovering new talent and giving them this platform.”

“There is a revolution taking place in country music. Building a platform with Blake for the next leaders of that revolution is an incredibly exciting venture,” said Sheridan. “No more shiny floors and studio audiences. This is where the rubber meets the road – literally. Get in the van, go to the next town and win the crowd. Do it enough, and you become the next leader. Simple as that.”

“This project has been a true labor of love that Taylor, Blake, Lee and I have been talking about for some time now,” said Glasser. “I can’t thank CBS enough for supporting us on this journey to bring an incredible project to audiences everywhere.”

THE ROAD offers viewers a backstage pass into the gritty and unforgiving life of a touring artist. Blake Shelton to release "Go Tell It On The Mountain" For Lionsgate Studios 'The Best Christmas Pagent Ever' Film

Country music superstar and proud ambassador Blake Shelton has recorded a rocking and jubilant arrangement of the traditional carol “Go Tell It on the Mountain” as the end credits song of director Dallas Jenkins’ highly anticipated family comedy The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. The film, from Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company, is in theaters November 8.

Available October 18, fans can pre-save/pre-add the song here. Jenkins will announce it today at Chosen Con, the annual gathering for fans of Jenkins’ breakout television series, The Chosen.

“Hearing that Blake would do a new recording for my film was pretty exciting, but the song exceeded my expectations,” said Jenkins. “It’s not only perfect for the film, but I’ve listened to it a couple dozen times in my car.”

The traditional holiday spiritual is produced and arranged by Scott Hendricks, with an assist from Shelton on arrangement. As a fun fact: Credits also include gospel star Gordon Mote on piano and organ and Wendy Moten on background vocals. Moten joined Team Blake on Season 21 of The Voice, finishing in second place.

“I love everything about Christmas, especially music that makes me feel as good inside as the holiday itself,” said Shelton. “This movie is fun and heartwarming and captures the true holiday spirit. So we wanted to record a song that expresses reverence and faith and puts a smile on your face. ‘Go Tell It on the Mountain’ does all of that and I hope our version and the movie become a new Christmas tradition.”

In The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, the Herdmans are absolutely the worst kids in the history of the world. They lie, they steal, they bully…and now they’ve hijacked the town Christmas pageant. Directed by Dallas Jenkins (“The Chosen”) and based on the international bestseller by Barbara Robinson, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever follows six siblings who sneak into church searching for snacks and walk away with the lead roles in the town pageant. Grace (Judy Greer) is directing the performance for the very first time, but she and her daughter Beth (Molly Belle Wright) and husband Bob (Pete Holmes) are in over their heads, especially against a town that wants them to kick the Herdmans out. But the play’s mischievous stars might unwittingly teach a community the true meaning of Christmas.

Starring Judy Greer, Pete Holmes, Molly Belle Wright and Lauren Graham, the film is directed by Dallas Jenkins from a screenplay by Ryan Swanson and Platte F. Clark & Darin McDaniel, based on the novel by Barbara Robinson, and produced by Kevin Downes, Jon Erwin, Andrew Erwin, Darin McDaniel, Chet Thomas and Daryl Lefever.

Lionsgate presents, in association with Media Capital Technologies, a Kingdom Story Company production in association with Lumenas Studios and FletChet Entertainment.

Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton Team Up For Dynamic New Single, "Purple Irises"

Today, global superstar Gwen Stefani reunites with fellow music icon and frequent collaborator, Blake Shelton, for the dynamic new single "Purple Irises." Introspective and nostalgic, the enduring anthem explores how time tests — and often strengthens — the bonds we share. “Purple Irises” was produced by award-winning producer Scott Hendricks and recorded in Nashville, TN at Smoakstack Studios. "Purple Irises" comes just days before Stefani brings her unique magic to Super Bowl weekend with a performance at the Super Bowl LVIII TikTok Tailgate before the big matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 11 in Las Vegas. Shelton will join Stefani at Super Bowl LVIII TikTok Tailgate for a debut performance of “Purple Irises.”

“Purple Irises" is available now at all digital retailers via Warner Music Nashville / Interscope Records. Listen Below.

Purple Irises is a song that comes from the idea that when you plant something you are planting hope and watching love grow,” says Stefani. “Weathering all the different seasons of growth. We are in this together, we planted the seeds together and we are growing together.”

Stefani’s iconic catalog is filled with insight and vulnerability, but she raises the bar here by capturing time-tested love with unfiltered affection and raw honesty. It doesn't hurt that she has palpable creative chemistry with real-life partner Shelton. They have previously shared the mic on the platinum hits "Nobody But You" and "Happy Anywhere," both of which topped Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

"We love this song so much,” said Shelton. "It’s a song Gwen wrote with a couple of friends of hers, and I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. She knew there was something different about it and asked me to come in and sing with her. My longtime producer, Scott Hendricks, produced it, and Gwen’s been wanting to work with him for a long time now, and it’s turned into this really cool and different song that can live anywhere."

Throughout her career, Stefani’s versatility — as showcased on recent offerings such as 2023’s "True Babe" and the Saweetie-featured "Slow Clap" — has been a large part of her staying power and perennial appeal. Those songs followed "Let Me Reintroduce Myself," which reached No. 1 on the iTunes chart.

A three-time GRAMMY® Award winner, Stefani has achieved global success as a performer, songwriter, and frontwoman of No Doubt, and a multi-platinum solo artist, among other accomplishments. To date, she’s sold more than 60 million units worldwide. Her 2015 solo album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. She also previously spent seven seasons as a coach on the Emmy®-winning NBC series The Voice.

ABOUT BLAKE SHELTON

As the genre’s chief ambassador, Blake Shelton has been delivering country music to a diverse audience for more than 20 years. In that time, he has accumulated an astonishing 28 No. 1 singles, sold nearly 15 million album equivalents and earned upwards of 11.5 billion global streams. Shelton has received myriad awards, including six ACMs, three AMAs, 10 CMAs, 11 CMTs and six People’s Choice. He most recently earned the fan-voted “Social Star” title at the inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards. A celebrated entertainer, Shelton headlined his “Back to the Honky Tonk” this year. The run earned rave reviews and boasted sold-out crowds, landing him on Billboard’s mid-year Top Tours list.

As an original coach on the Emmy Award-winning television show The Voice, Shelton brought a steady diet of current and classic country music to the NBC primetime audience. After 23 seasons and nine championships, he stepped away from the show in May. He and Carson Daly have teamed up to executive produce and star in the high-spirited, celebrity game show, Barmageddon. Hosted by Nikki Garcia, the show airs on USA Network and premiered as the network’s highest rated debut episode in more than three years. Season Two will premiere November 13.

The Grand Ole Opry member also remains focused on his Ole Red partnership with Ryman Hospitality, with locations currently in Tishomingo, Nashville, Gatlinburg, Orlando and a forthcoming venue in Las Vegas. A noted humanitarian, Shelton has helped raise millions of dollars for children’s hospitals, disaster relief organizations, food banks, the OK POP Museum and more in his home state of Oklahoma and beyond.

ABOUT DUSTIN LYNCH
Dustin Lynch has "built one of the most consistent recording careers in modern country music” (Billboard), achieving eight No. 1s, four Top 5 albums, 10 Gold and Platinum certified singles, and tallying over 5.4 BILLION cumulative global streams. His sixth studio album, Killed The Cowboy (Broken Bow Records), is boldly making a statement. The follow-up to Blue In The Sky, which delivered the history-making Platinum, six-week No. 1 “Thinking ‘Bout You (feat. MacKenzie Porter)” – the most-played song at Country radio in 2022 landing at No. 1 on the Country Aircheck and No. 2 on the Billboard Year-End Country Airplay charts – also featured nearing Top 5 single “Stars Like Confetti” and hit “Party Mode.” Launching the KILLED THE COWBOY TOUR in 2024, Lynch has headlined packed venues and toured with country’s biggest names like Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Brad Paisley and Kane Brown. Since his Platinum breakout “Cowboys and Angels” in 2012, the Tennessee native has earned industry recognition as a Grand Ole Opry member, as well as high-profile nominations for the Academy of Country Music Awards, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards, and CMT Music Awards.

ABOUT EMILY ANN ROBERTS
They say the way to the biggest stage is practice, practice, practice. And that’s exactly what Emily Ann Roberts has done, paying her dues from tiny stages in Knoxville to the biggest stage of all, the Grand Ole Opry. Since launching her career, Roberts has now played the coveted Opry stage 17 times. Before that, she made a name for herself on Blake Shelton’s team on The Voice before she’d even graduated from high school. In a way, being named as a runner-up was the biggest win of all. Because now, with all of that performing, songwriting and recording experience, Roberts has already racked up more than 35 million streams and was recently named one of Rolling Stone magazine’s Best Acts of CMA Fest. Growing up in East Tennessee, Roberts was raised on Smoky Mountain music, bluegrass players and country artists from every era: from Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton to Miranda Lambert and Cody Johnson. And all of that has prepared her to bring the country back to country music and that’s exactly what she’s doing on her debut full-length record, Can’t Hide Country, which is out now. Recorded at Starstruck Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, and produced by GRAMMY-winning producer, Trent Willmon, Emily Ann's honest and captivating lyrics, along with her exceptional vocal talents, have already received widespread acclaim from both the media and her dedicated fanbase. It's abundantly clear that country music is in capable hands with Roberts at the helm.

Blake Shelton Rocks Ole Red Orlando

Blake Shelton returned to Ole Red Orlando to perform in front of a packed house last night. The boss man’s one-hour set included hits like “God’s Country” and “Happy Anywhere,” ending with fan favorite, “Boys ‘Round Here.”

On stage, Shelton remarked, “We wanted to come here and have fun with you guys and say thank you for supporting Ole Red Orlando. This is such a fun place!”

NBC’S “The Voice” season 22 winner, Bryce Leatherwood, opened the evening. Leatherwood started the night off with country classics like “The Fireman” by George Straight and “Whenever You Come Around” by Vince Gill. Leatherwood also performed unreleased original songs “Made Me, Me” and “The Finger” to the pumped-up crowd. The “Team Blake” alum has been a regular guest at Shelton’s Ole Red venues, recently selling out his four-show residency at Ole Red Tishomingo in Oklahoma as well as his shows at Ole Red Gatlinburg and Ole Red Orlando.

Of his experience on working with Blake, Leatherwood says, “Working with Blake has been an incredible experience. We share a love for pure country music and his Ole Red bars have treated me so well and reflect his love for a great drink or two.”

The official Blake Shelton Icon Park Pre-Party, held in partnership with local country radio station K92.3, surprised a handful of ultimate Blake Shelton fans with last minute tickets to the show. The station began a live broadcast from Ole Red Orlando at 4:00 p.m. while other vendors on-site also hosted giveaways and free samples to fans.

Shelton’s Ole Red Orlando performance followed the Opry member’s honor of presenting Toby Keith with the “Country Icon” award at the first-ever People’s Country Choice Awards live from the Grand Ole Opry House. During the show, Shelton also received the award for “The Social Country Star of 2023.” Earlier this week, Shelton and Carson Daly celebrated the announcement of the return of their beloved game show, “Barmageddon,” where celebrity friends compete in the ultimate bar game show down set at Shelton’s Ole Red Nashville.
