Kenny Chesney Rocks The Plaza; Debuts Animated "Goldfish" TONIGHT

They came from Maine, New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, Philadelphia and beyond – and started lining up long before midnight – to be part of Kenny Chesney’s kick-off for Silver Sands Marina on the Plaza with “TODAY”’s Citi Concert Series. They brought license plates saying “SS Marina,” signs that said “Skipped School for This,” “Too Old for High Heels, But Not No Shoes,” “Virgina Is For Kenny Chesney Lovers” and “My First Kenny Chesney Concert,” as well as Pirates Flags, tennis pros, bags of Goldfish and sundry tokens of No Shoes Nation for the show that saw the live debut of the title track, “Goldfish” and “Carry On.”

“I figured if we’ve got the band in place, we might as well open it up,” said the East Tennessee songwriter-superstar. “To play these songs for the people, to feel the energy and see how they light people up is what it’s all about… And it was great they gave us five songs, so we could go deep – and have some fun. And it was.”

With the new songs landing with a big smile and bigger energy, Chesney has gotten his 21st album underway like only he can. Live on several ESPN shows this afternoon, he will join his friends at the table on “The View” tomorrow. Even more, the Country Music Hall of Fame inductee is set to world premiere a special animated clip of “Goldfish” tonight as part of his second TalkShopLive appearance, where he will further unpack his new album and take questions from the people watching. “Since we’re all gonna be together, this is the place to show off this new, animated take on our ‘Goldfish’ video,” Chesney shares. “We were talking about how much fun the video we shot was and childlike this song is, and figured, ‘Why not take it all the way… and make a cartoon out of it?’ It’s amazing what you can do when you add in animation.

“All of the animals not only come to life – and have some pretty good rhythm. But through some really creative people’s magic, they even brought Poncho and Da Ruba Girl to the party! What could be better? And the people at TalkShopLive worked so hard to figure out how we can make world premiering this video a part of tonight’s stuff.”

Next week, Chesney joins Gayle King on “CBS Mornings,” as well as Joe Torre for “NBC Nightly News” segment “Great Americans.” As “Carry On” crests the top of the charts and the Original Vibe Room 2027 Tour tickets for 19 stadium shows go on sale, Silver Sands Marina arrives with a flourish and a lot of fun.

As someone who loves songs, making music and creating a soundtrack for how life is lived by real people, Kenny Chesney has created an indelible body of work. With Silver Sands Marina, his 21st studio album, approaching its Sept. 25th release date, the East Tennessee songwriter/superstar is getting ready to take the music – and stories – to New York for a media gauntlet that gets inside the songs, the process and heart of what became an actual album.

Three years and myriad songs in the making, the man Wall Street Journal crowned “The King of the Road” will kick things off September 17 on the Plaza at Rockefeller Center as part of “TODAY”’s Citi Concert Series.

“When you make a record and you take your time, it takes you places you might not go otherwise,” Chesney says of the album. “We recut ‘Carry On,’ the first single because this version felt like the moment we’re living in. ‘Silver Sands Marina’ and ‘Remember Me That Way’ came in later, and changed the shape of what this album is…

“So, it’s great to be able to play a few of these songs on the plaza, to really give people this music. At home, in the streets, wherever people are, we’re going to be able to share these songs live – and exchange that energy that we all live for.”

From there, he heads downtown to visit “The View.” A favorite of the table, he’s going to talk about where some of the songs came from, some of the guests and where he’s heading in 2027. It will make for lively conversation as there’s plenty to unpack before Silver Sands Marina arrives. Then onto ESPN for several midafternoon shows, as well as taping a special talk with E Street Radio.

“These songs hit on so many levels, it’s great to be able to talk about what we’re doing at all these different shows. I love the women at ‘The View,’ who are smart and fun, who get out there and live, so they come at the music from that place. I was honored to be asked to visit E Street Radio because I respect what Bruce shares with his people, that same passion and embracing life no matter what. Then everyone at ESPN speaks to that place in me that always says, ‘Nothing brings people together like sports and music,’ which is true.”

Next week, Chesney joins “CBS Mornings” with Gayle King for a meaningful sit-down. “You can have a lot of conversations about the same thing, and they’re often not alike,” Chesney says. “When I looked at the schedule, I thought ‘This is a lot’; but I know when I start doing the actual conversations, I’m always amazed at what I learn about the songs and records, hearing what these people heard and experienced. I also think different people care about different things, so each of these shows lets this music land how it needs to for all the people.”

MIRANDA LAMBERT SCORES SEVEN CMA NOMINATIONS ARTIST PRODUCER SONGWRITER

Miranda Lambert, the Texas-born songwriting force and high-impact performer, received seven nominations for “The 60th Annual CMA Awards,” making her the second-most nominated artist for 2026 and increasing her tally as the most-nominated female artist of all time with 70 career nods. Beyond making history with her record-breaking 19th Female Vocalist of the Year nomination, she received a pair of Musical Event nominations for the double GRAMMY nominated “A Song To Sing” with Chris Stapleton and the recently released “Horses and Divorces” with Kacey Musgraves.

“When they told me it was the record, I was a little emotional,” Lambert admits. “Having always challenged myself to reach further, write or find better songs – to really make music that spoke to other women where they were, but anyone wherever, however they were living their life and needed a song to sing – it hit me both how long I’ve been doing this and how many great songs I’ve been blessed to be a part of. It’s the greatest honor to know this music hits people in the heart.”

Beyond her own music, Lambert’s role as co-writer and co-producer for Ella Langley yielded not only 2026’s biggest song in any genre, “Choosin’ Texas,” but it helped Langley become this year’s most-nominated artist overall. Lambert shares nominations in the Album category for Dandelion and Single for both “Choosin’ Texas” and “Be Her” with Langley and fellow producer Ben West. Lambert also receives a Song of the Year nomination for co-writing “Choosin’ Texas” with Langley, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor.

“I still have a hard time believing that the thing I started doing because I loved it became my career,” marveled Lambert following this morning’s announcement. “After all these years, getting to have firsts – to step into something new, help another artist bring their vision to life and discover something I haven’t done before – keeps it exciting and inspiring for me. These nominations are special because they remind me there are still ways to be inspired and help create something I’m proud of with people I believe in.”

Having started singing in bars as a 16-year-old in braids, Lambert built her swagger-forward country on songwriter-driven legends including Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and David Allan Coe, while absorbing the detailed emotional storytelling of John Prine, Guy Clark and Emmylou Harris. The most-awarded woman in CMA history, Lambert forged a style that merged honest Texas bar-room aesthetics with a sensitivity to hard places that gave her headlong bravado real meaning.

Having won two Album of the Year Awards – 2010 for Revolution and 2014 for Platinum, as well as Song and Single of the Year among plenty, keeping her focus on the music has driven the woman who created the Pistol Annies with friends Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley, recorded myriad duets with everyone from Loretta Lynn and Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood to Prine, Dierks Bentley, Little Big Town, as well as Don Henley and Mick Jagger, then started Big Loud Texas with friend Jon Randall to establish a label for Texas artists to protect their roots and establish careers that would sustain them.

Miranda Lambert Lands 8: Artist, Writer and Producer ACM Noms

Multihyphenate superstar Miranda Lambert, the most-decorated artist in Academy of Country Music history, earned eight nominations for the upcoming 61st ACM Awards, the second highest tally of any artist.

“Honored to wake up and be among the most nominated for the ACM Awards,” Lambert shares. “It’s always special to be recognized and it’s even better when it’s alongside friends and heroes.”

She received her 18th nomination for Female Artist of the Year as well as her ninth nomination for Song of the Year and 16th total nomination (including Artist and Songwriter credits) in the category.

New wave icon/synth pioneer Howard Jones will grace the stage of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” this coming Wednesday, November 12th. This televised performance comes during a year-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of the release of his groundbreaking album, DREAM INTO ACTION. “Jimmy Kimmel Live” airs weeknights at 11:35/10:35C on ABC and streams the next day on Hulu.

Howard Jones continues his global 40th anniversary tour with dates in the United Kingdom and then Europe beginning on November 12th. About Craig Morgan

Singer, author, actor, and soldier Craig Morgan has made a name for himself as a country music hitmaker who has amassed nearly 2.5 billion career streams and charted over 25 songs on Billboard. With signature hits including “Redneck Yacht Club,” “Almost Home,” “International Harvester,” “Soldier,” “That's What I Love About Sunday,” and his faith-filled tribute, “The Father, My Son and the Holy Ghost,” the multi-faceted entertainer’s music has formed the soundtrack to our lives for over two decades.
