OCEANS - Release New Album 'HAPPY'

The new studio album by German nu-metal band OCEANS sees the light of day today!
The band's third album, entitled HAPPY, comprises 11 new songs, including the two previously released singles, and is available now. The album thematically deals with the topics of mental health and the negative phases in life. The album name HAPPY functions more likely as a destination state. The band gives free rein to their emotions and describes in their usual musical rigor everything that goes wrong in this world and needs to be improved in order to finally reach the state of mind 'Happy'.

OCEANS have also delivered a brand new music video for the title track 'Happy', which you can witness below.

Bass player Thomas Winkelmann comments:

"With HAPPY we go harder and more uncompromising than ever before. In the sometimes very interchangeable mishmash of metal/deathcore bands out there, we tried to create our own sound without imposing limits on ourselves in the process."

About:

Germany’s Nu Death powerhouse OCEANS are back with unprecedented ferocity since their debut EP in 2018. Brace yourself for their third album HAPPY, a colossal juggernaut that once again showcases the band's ability to seamlessly fuse Nu Metal, Death Metal and Post Rock into their own signature sound. The days of subtle introversion seem to be over. As the world faces one crisis after another, OCEANS are channeling their frustration at the state of the world into a bold statement against the influence of social media on society, while staying true to their mission of promoting mental health awareness. This band has never sounded as angry as they do now, and these 11 songs are impressive proof of how well that emotion suits them. Surely this is also what convinced Australia's finest, keyboardist MISSTIQ and Josh Collard from EARTH CALLER, to take part as feature artists on two tracks. OCEANS ’previous album Hell Is Where The Heart Is put the band on the road with international acts like BLIND CHANNEL in 2022, as well as supporting ANNISOKAY in 2024. It’s safe to say that HAPPY will ignite massive mosh pits on their upcoming extensive European tour with SEPTICFLESH in October 2024.

The German nu-metal band proudly presents their latest single 'Slaves To The Feed', which provides another strong message towards the importance of mental health and raising awareness on this topic. The new song sees OCEANS collaborate with Australian keyboardist MISSTIQ as well as Josh Collard from EARTH CALLER.

To coincide with the release of 'Slaves To The Feed', OCEANS are unleashing a second new single! About:

Ever since their inception, up and coming German outfit OCEANS have dropped jaws everywhere they went. With a unique sound that sits somewhere between nu-metal, progressive, post and death metal and putting mental health at the top of their agenda, the four piece quickly became a known constant in today’s metal landscape. OCEANS have become known for their inclination towards innovation and experimentation within their genre; covering songs by the likes of Alessia Cara and collaborating with prominent musicians such as MACHINE HEAD’s Robb Flynn and CALIBAN’s Andy Dörner amongst others. Having released two EPs in 2019, their debut album in 2020 and another EP in 2021, the band featuring visionary mastermind Timo Rotten can easily be described as one of Europe’s hardest and fastest working bands in the genre. Enter 2022 and OCEANS have already proved that they’re set to continue on their upwards trajectory with the release of their trilogy Hell Is Where The Heart Is - Part I: Love, it’s follow-up Hell Is Where The Heart Is - Part II: Longing and Hell Is Where The Heart Is - Part III: Clarity, which together form their second album Hell Is Where The Heart Is.

OCEANS - Release New Single 'Chop Suey'!

OCEANS are back with their first new music since the release of their second studio album Hell Is Where The Heart Is last November! The German nu-metal band proudly presents their latest single 'Chop Suey', a cover of the SYSTEM OF A DOWN classic. As you would expect, the Germans have put their own stamp on the song, creating a darker version of the legendary track as they pay tribute to their roots.

Along with the release of their new single, OCEANS also deliver a new behind-the-scenes video, which you can witness below:

Timo Rotten comments:

“Toxicity was one of my favorite albums when it came out, but I hadn't heard it in a while. Then Thomas dug it up again a few weeks ago and the question immediately came to my mind: How would this sound with growls? And whether I could do it at all. We just had to try it out. Did I get it right? I think you have to decide for yourselves.”

Check Out DUSTY GRANT Releases Official Music for Poignant Debut Single, “Oceans”!

Wichita, KS based, Dark Rock artist DUSTY GRANT has revealed the official music video for the debut single from his newly, fully formed band, "Oceans"! Written and produced by GRANT and JASON CATLETT (with additional production duties as well as recorded and mixed by CHRIS DAWSON) with mastering by MIKE KALAJIAN, the music video for "Oceans" was directed by JT IBANEZ.

“’Oceans is’ the first song I wrote with my lead guitar player Jason Catlett to introduce the full-band sound. We wrote it together after we experienced the unexpected loss of a close mutual friend. We'd been friends and worked together for a long time around the scene in a lot of different capacities, but this was actually the first song we wrote together and will be the first Dusty Grant full-band release. It's a song with a deep meaning to all of us in the band." - DUSTY GRANT

Dusty Grant is an independent singer/songwriter based out of Wichita, KS. Grant has been writing, recording, and performing original music in bands and as a solo artist for over 20 years. Drawing influences from metal, rock, grunge, and country Grant delivers his own brand of Dark Rock. Fans of Alice In Chains, Stone Sour, Shinedown, and Daughtry are certain to love Grant's style.

In 2017, Grant began touring and playing small clubs as a solo acoustic act. In his short time as a solo artist, Grant kept up a brisk pace releasing 11 of his own original songs and playing 40+ shows per year.

As interest in his music and performances grew across the region, in addition to booking additional solo acoustic gigs, Grant started to get interest from promoters to play larger stages with a full-band accompaniment. It was in May of 2021 that Grant added friends and fellow musicians Jason Catlett (Lead Guitar), Bwana Villa (Vocals), Shane Harper (Drums) & Chris McNutt (Bass). With a new, full-on rock sound, the band lit the regional scene ablaze opening for national acts like DaughtryCandleboxDanielle Nicole, and Blacktop Mojo.

On April 8th of 2022 Grant has plans to release his first full-band single "Oceans" written with friend Jason Catlett. This track was produced and recorded by acclaimed hard rock producer Chris Dawson (SAULAny Given SinSeasons After). Grant also has plans to continue building his touring and live performance resume with shows already booked with National rockers Black Stone Cherry. Esprit D'Air Releases New Single + Lyric Video "Dead Zone" ft. Ben Christo (The Sisters of Mercy) Taken From New Album '

London-based Japanese electronic metal band Esprit D'Air has today released their latest track and accompanying lyric video for "Dead Zone" featuring Ben Christo, from gothic rock legends The Sisters of Mercy. The track is taken from Esprit D'Air's new album 'Oceans' which has already totaled up over 2 million streams on Spotify and entered four UK official charts including #13 in Rock & Metal Albums and #7 in Independent Albums Breakers. Speaking on today's release, Kai shares:

"'Dead Zone' is definitely one of the darkest tracks I have ever produced, but it also has some big chorus moments. I couldn't have picked anybody better than Ben to do this track with. He showed so much enthusiasm for it whilst also delivering meaningful and deep lyrics. I created the music with him in mind."

Ben Christo commented:

"As soon as I heard Kai’s cinematic soundscape for this track, I was inspired. The brooding yet majestic atmosphere conjured a wealth of vivid imagery, and thus melodies rapidly formed in my mind. The chorus vocal line you’ll hear is actually the very first one I came up with and despite experimenting with other ideas, I kept returning to this. It just felt ‘right’.

Browsing for words and phrases to align with the ‘Oceans’ album's nautical theme, the term ‘dead zone’ caught my attention, given its evocative definition: “Hypoxic, low-oxygen areas where few organisms can survive.” This gave me a potentially rich metaphor with which to work, and an abundance of lyrical ideas began to take shape. The finished lyric asks: are you trapped in an alluring yet deadly space of your own making and can you access the strength within you to break free? The words draw deeply on my own, very recent experiences."

Cradle of Filth's Richard Shaw also stated:

"Catchy and atmospheric, with incredible vocals and an otherworldly guitar solo. What a song!”

Timo Rotten comments: “’The Awakening’ is a love letter to the people who are here for us at our darkest. At that moment when you hit rock bottom and fall into the void of nothingness. No hope, no light, just emptiness. But then someone reaches out and pulls you out of this misery. We want to thank you. You know who you are!”

"The Awakening" is part of the digital EP Hell Is Where The Heart Is - Part I: Love, which will be released on January 14th.

Timo Rotten comments: “'Sulfur' is a love song but in a very unconventional way. You know the situation: you and your loved one get into a serious fight, doors slamming and all. And then sometimes, things are being thrown at each other that shouldn’t have been said… words that sting like knives. This is where love burns like sulfur.”
