SCAREFIELD Unleashes "Ancient Evil" - A Thrash Metal Epic with a Lovecraftian Twist!

SCAREFIELD, the electrifying, horror infused force in the world of thrash metal, SIMONE MANULI and MARKUS KRISTOFFERSSON, is set to shake the foundations of the music scene with their latest single and accompanying animated music video, "Ancient Evil." This track is part of their highly anticipated EP, NIGHTMARE TALES, an H.P. Lovecraft inspired masterpiece that promises to plunge fans into a sonic realm of darkness and chaos.

“We’ve always been enthralled by the works of H.P. Lovecraft ever since first reading the story ‘The Call of Cthulhu’. It’s been a great pleasure as musicians to try and put the feelings of cosmic dread we’ve felt reading the stories to paper and into the music itself. When writing the song ‘Ancient Evil’ we wanted to make sure the dynamics of the song fit well with the lyrics and the progression of the story. Even the instruments provide feelings of doom and magnitude, from the chanting of the cultists in the chorus to the impending dread of the guitar solo. It could appear like an easy listening metal song but the structure is more complex than expected: different bpms and time signature, from classic 4:4 to 5:4 and 7:4, several vocal lines and electric guitar layers, very fast double kick drum parts. It will remind you of many metal band styles: Metallica, Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Blind Guardian. It’s what we were looking for and we hope you like it as we do.” – SCAREFIELD

"Ancient Evil" encapsulates the essence of SCAREFIELD's signature sound—ferocious, relentless, and unapologetically heavy. The track weaves a tale of cosmic horror inspired by the works of the legendary H.P. Lovecraft, plunging listeners into a world where ancient malevolence lurks in the shadows.

The accompanying animated music video for "Ancient Evil," created by ANDREA MANTELLI, is a visual feast, bringing the nightmarish narrative to life with stunning and eerie imagery. Fans can expect a journey through eldritch landscapes and encounter otherworldly creatures, perfectly synchronized with the band's sonic onslaught.

“Since the story of the track ‘Ancient Evil’ was so important and could obviously not be displayed through a live action video, we decided animation was the way to go. The illustrations picked for the animations are meant to provide the listener with a sense the magnitude of the story in the song as a world-shattering event of cosmic horror as the high priest of the great old ones awakens!”

“Imagine yourself around a campfire telling scary stories with your friends. Imagine the clear skies of a starlit night and warm glow of fading embers. Imagine the chill running down your spine as you hear a noise from the darkness behind you. This is NIGHTMARE TALES.”

In addition to the new single, NIGHTMARE TALES features four previously released singles, each meticulously remixed and remastered to deliver a fresh and intensified sonic experience. SCAREFIELD's dedication to pushing the boundaries of their music is evident in these reimagined tracks, promising both longtime fans and new listeners an immersive and powerful journey through the realms of thrash metal.

“This EP is the culmination of our previous quartet of singles paving the way for our upcoming album, *A QUIET COUNTRY*. The EP contains remixed and remastered versions of our first 3 singles as well as our metal cover of 'House of the Rising Sun,' and a brand new track called ‘Ancient Evil’ from our upcoming album, about the dreaded Cthulhu.”.

Four of the tracks off of NIGHTMARE TALES were written and recorded by MANULI / KRISTOFFERSSON, with drums recorded by JOE MARTINO, produced and mixed by MANULI, and mastered by RONNIE BJÖRNSTRÖM. The metal cover of "House of the Rising Sun" features RICH GRAY (bass) from ANNIHALATOR and HUGO RIBEIRO (drums) from MOONSPELL, readapted by MANULI / KRISTOFFERSSON, with vocals recorded by KRISTOFFERSSON and acoustic and electric guitars by MANULI. The album features Illustrations by NICK THE SCARECROW.

“During the road towards the release of our upcoming album, A QUIET COUNTRY, we wanted to provide a taste of what’s to come, enter our EP NIGHTMARE TALES! This EP contains within it 5 songs of varying style which we feel perfectly displays the range listeners can expect from us moving forward. It is like the publication of a short story to wet the appetite for the upcoming novel. If you like what you hear, you will love what comes next.”

SCAREFIELD is a speed / thrash metal band inspired by the horror genre, in particular by the colourful and bombastic 80’s horror movies. The music consists of many familiar themes of both speed and thrash metal with additional influences from more modern forms of metal music, such as melodic death metal, as well as classic heavy metal. SIMONE MANULI, the founder of SCAREFIELD, reached out from the plains of northern Italy to the frigid north of the arctic circle in northern Sweden where he would come in to contact with vocalist MARKUS KRISTOFFERSSON. The music, produced by Simone, was co-written and co-composed by the two members, melding their unique styles and influences into an interesting new take on the classic metal styles incorporated.

Self-produced and -written, the music contains massive atmosphere, fast riffs, melodic strings and heavy drums. The vocals are a mix of clean melody and power as well as the harsher death metal style vocals of the modern day. The lyrics contain topics such as personal stories, interesting concepts and of course the aforementioned horror theme!

During 2023 the band released 4 single tracks leading to the upcoming album the following year. These singles included 3 original songs as well as a metal version of the traditional folk song "House of the Rising Sun" featuring RICH GRAY from ANNIHILATOR on bass and HUGO RIBEIRO from MOONSPELL on drums.

Necrofier Hitching a Ride on Decibel Magazine Tour

Necrofier kept the black flame burning in 2023.   Back at the beginning of summer, their new album was hailed upon arrival by Distorted Sound as "another stunning slab of black metal". A&P Reacts praised the way the band's raw energy compliments the warmer touches of GRAMMY-nominated producer Joel Hamilton. Burning Shadows in the Southern Night also landed on Heaviest of Art's year-end list for best cover art.

The Houston black metal band are now prepared to keep all that fiery momentum going well into the new year. These four horsemen are saddling up for Decibel Magazine's 2024 Tour.

Headlining the longest-running metal tour in North America next year are Northwest black metal executioners

Decibel recently premiered Necrofier's sinister video for "Destroying Angels".

While it's awfully hard to pick just one, "Destroying Angels" might be the most satantic track on Burning Shadows in the Southern Night. Dobber Beverly is so cold and merciless behind the drum kit that his fills could flay flesh. "Sacrifice my life in blood", Larson screams. His bloodlust sounds so murderous, it's like he's being burned at the stake by those searing guitar riffs.

"'Destroying Angels is about transforming yourself into something new after learning things you believed to be true were not. The song was also written while on mushrooms and lyrically is inspired by Selim from The Devil's Blood. RIP'

Watch what happens when a harem of witches catch an innocent princess wandering through their enchanted forest.

Deep within the scorching cauldron of Texas, the alchemists of Necrofier have brewed another potent dose of American black metal with their sophomore full-length, ‘Burning Shadows in the Southern Night.’ The Houston four-piece honors the time-tested virtues of traditional black and heavy metal, even taking an organic sonic approach, tapping seven-time Grammy-nominated producer and engineer Joel Hamilton (Unsane, Tom Waits, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, etc.) to lend his magic touch for a natural sound.

“The goal going into the new record was to start setting ourselves apart from our contemporaries,” explains Necrofier drummer Dobber Beverly. “One of those ways was changing what the record sounded like. Moving away from the clinical and sterile nature that most productions suffer from and back into a real room with real instruments and performances. Our friend and esteemed producer/engineer Joel Hamilton had expressed interest in venturing back into the metal world and offered to make the record with us at his facility, Studio G Brooklyn. The results will speak for themselves hopefully, as this record breathes and spits fire wherever it’s played.”

“Dobber and Joel have become good friends since they recorded the last Oceans of Slumber album with him, adds Necrofier guitarist and vocalist Bakka. "After that, Joel wanted to record something heavy, so we made the trip to New York City to record in his legendary studio. It was an amazing experience in a great studio; besides having all the gear, he also created an environment where we challenged ourselves and brought everything up to the next level.”

‘Burning Shadows in the Southern Night’ doesn’t just simply pick off where Necrofier’s debut album left off, but displays a conscientious effort to double down on the elements that made ‘Prophecies of Eternal Darkness’ successful. The solos are more plentiful and intricate, the hooks are more anthemic, and the overall musicianship is bolder and more daring. Speaking of the band’s evolution, Bakka explains, “I think this collection of songs represents us very well. We have grown together as a band and it shows in the new songs. Also, for this record we flew to NYC and recorded all day long for 10 days straight. I love recording this way because it captures a certain magic. The whole band is immersed in the process and it's all we would think, do, live and breathe during the process.”

Another core facet of Necrofier’s allure is being a black metal band from Texas. “Where you live always helps shape someone,” says Bakka. “It helps shape our style and tone in ways, it’s hot most of the year, so as we burn, it gives us warmer tones and more of a heavy metal influence than when compared to our brothers from the North."

To that avail, Necrofier isn’t your typical black metal band, and so this isn’t your typical black metal record as there’s a healthy amount of traditional metal influences, particularly within the guitar work. While conceptually, the band doesn’t heavily rely on Satanic themes, exploring deeper human philosophies and the occult like burning for your dreams or spiraling out on a psychedelic trip and exploring the beyond. “While there isn’t overt satanic worship in the lyrics, I would still say that he is a friend of ours,” Bakka cheekily says. “There are Occult themes on this record, but at the same time, it does take a philosophical approach.”

Further illustrating the influence of their environment, Necrofier also heavily explores one of Southern America’s most fabled myths. “The new record touches on selling your soul at the crossroads,” adds Bakka. “I like to take a different approach and touch on the elements of the esoteric world and dive into the forbidden or hidden that surrounds us in our lives every day.”

As the Texan black metal outlaws saddle up for record two, they are leading the charge as one of the contemporary purveyors of black metal revivalism. ‘Burning Shadows in the Southern Night’ is certain to elicit a sense of nostalgia for those who dare to lay ears on this vicious new offering.

Last night, Amy Grant and Vince Gill celebrated their 100th show at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium as part of their sold-out 2023 “Christmas at the Ryman” residency. WICKED ANNOUNCE US TOUR WITH BRITISH METAL GREATS RAVEN

Modern-day melodic/theatrical rockers Wicked will be joining forces with Raven (who were part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement that also spawned Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, and Saxon)  for a string of dates in spring 2024. Although Wicked – which is comprised of singer/guitarist Chad Michael, guitarist Scotty V, bassist Danny, and drummer Gunnar – will not be part of all the dates (which also includes sets by Vicious Rumors and Lutharo), they are confirmed for nine performances, with more to be announced in January.

The group will be touring in support of their newest album, 'Sunburn,' which the band describes as "A deliberate e-brake in our music and state of the band. After years of doing 80 mph in a 30 with no hands on the wheel, we decided there was so much more to what we had to share musically. Produced by 10-time Grammy winner Ignacio Molino, released through The Orchard and accompanied by 5 singles / videos, the album bares an authentic reflection on the highs and lows of being in a relentlessly hard-working rock band with all the euphoria and pain along the way."

"We looked inside for inspiration and made an album for us and not anyone else. Don’t miss the blend of inspirations from Third Eye Blind to Thin Lizzy and everything in between, the personified characters from each single like the 'Gorgeous' robot girl, and the cinematic destination music videos. Before you know it, you’ll be 'living like a Sunburn!'”

The band's latest single/video is for the title track, which can be viewed below.

And next step for Wicked are the string of what will undoubtedly be kick ass live performances with Raven.

"We are poised to drop our upcoming album 'Sunburn,' and there is no better way than supporting it by joining our friends in Raven for a North American Tour with our brand of high energy rock n' roll!" - Danny

BBR MUSIC GROUP/STONEY CREEK RECORDS’ BRAZEN NAOMI COOKE JOHNSON TAKES THE GREAT OUTDOORS BY STORM IN EPISODE OF "COUNTRY OUTDOORS"

Stoney Creek Records hit singer/songwriter Naomi Cooke Johnson trades the stage for the great outdoors in the latest episode of the "Country Outdoors” series. The episode aired yesterday on Country Outdoors’ Facebook and YouTube channels, promising viewers a personal look into Naomi's adventurous side as she embraces the beauty of nature and the serenity of the wilderness. Watch on Facebook HERE or YouTube HERE.

“This episode and experience were something that was extremely personal to me. Being a new mother, an artist myself and outdoorswoman, I wanted to embark on this adventure with someone who would embrace it,” said Cooke Johnson.

"Country Outdoors" host Mary O’Neill Phillips expressed excitement about featuring Naomi Cooke Johnson on the show. “Learning survival skills is such a lost art (and is not for the faint of heart). Naomi took this opportunity with passion, interest and drive. She is an exceptional talent all around and we loved having her on this episode.”

“I grew up spending more time in the woods than indoors,” said Cooke Johnson. “We often slept outside under the stars because the old farmhouses we rented, when we weren't in our school bus, lacked air conditioning. The nights were much cooler and more comfortable outdoors. To this day, I dedicate most of my spare time to foraging for wild herbs and food, learning from nature. When Mary invited me to take this survival course with her, I couldn't say yes fast enough. My hope is that this experience will inspire women watching the episode to learn basic survival techniques, as it boosts confidence and self-esteem in a way nothing else can. I'm eager to do this again and acquire ancient skills, becoming a part of keeping them alive to pass down to my own children one day."

The episode not only showcases Naomi's love for the outdoors but also delves into her personal connection with the natural world. As she engages in outdoor activities, Naomi reflects on the impact of nature on her music and songwriting, providing fans with a deeper understanding of the artist's roots and creative process. As Cooke Johnson navigates the wilderness, the episode captures candid moments, showcasing the artist's authenticity and passion for adventure.

About Naomi Cooke Johnson:

Naomi Cooke Johnson’s life is a song worth writing and a story worth telling. Growing up impoverished with no education, Cooke Johnson found her refuge and purpose in music. She’s a real-world example of what’s possible when hope transcends hardship and a real product of the American Dream. This former lead vocalist of Runaway June, who co-wrote many of the trio’s acclaimed hits including the Top 5 smash “Buy My Own Drinks," made her official solo debut in the Country music scene with a strong dose of Shania Twain sass releasing “Girls of Summer,” a spirited celebration of carefree fun with a chosen family of friends. With powerhouse vocals and an irresistibly upbeat tempo, “Girls of Summer,” was fans’ first taste of blazing new music from Cooke Johnson who has truly come into her own as a solo artist. Her sophomore release came equipped with an adventurous and fiery attitude, as Naomi returns with, "Livin' Ain't Killed Me Yet” via BBR Music Group/Stoney Creek Records.  Semi-autobiographical, the song is, in typical Naomi fashion, a musical adrenaline rush celebrating living life to the fullest.

Banks Arcade Announce New EP "Death 2" + Share NSFW "More Want" Video

Alongside the newly-released single and video, "More Want," the Melbourne band has also announced the upcoming release of a brand new EP, with DEATH 2 due out on Friday, February 2 via UNFD.

Following on from previous singles "Worship The Internet" and "Change," both also set to feature on DEATH 2, "More Want" is a corrosive neon eruption, with metalcore, industrial, and modern elements pummeling around an electronic, rave-ready bridge.

Watch the video
below.

Speaking on their caustic new single, the band shares, "'More Want' was written in a time where we were dealing with a lot of darkness and felt like  losing a grip on sanity. The song was written in a frenzy and highlights chaotic self talk and someone who is on the edge of breaking. Every aspect of the song was made to highlight a volatile state of mind being aggressive and disconcerting."

Recently flexing their nuanced creative muscles, with the glossy darkness of "Change" and hip hop-soaked heaviness with "Worship The Internet," DEATH 2 doesn't simply build on the previously-established Banks Arcade trademark sound; rather, it catapults the band's heady blend of hard rock, electronic and metal into an entirely new sonic stratosphere, with six tracks lying in wait to dazzle in 2024.

"DEATH 2 expresses the darkest side of Banks Arcade," the band reveals of the forthcoming new EP. "It’s the heaviest this band will ever venture and it explores the most chaotic elements from the different genres we enjoy. With each song exploring death and disorder in a different way, it paints a visceral picture that is symbolic of change and the shedding of the bands previous self."

Banks Arcade bring passion and potent execution to their myriad of influences and creative ideas. Formed over a shared love of music with a razor-sharp avant-garde aesthetic, Banks Arcade have teetered on modernity, their gaze ever-fixed just beyond the horizon via their flourishing sonic wiles. From their 2018 debut EP Endnote to its 2020 follow up Fever Dreams, the group's head-turning singles like "Sick" and "Drown" have gone on to amass over a million individal streams, while their explosive single "Chosen" was chosen by Ubisoft as the official theme song of the Rainbow Six Siege Oceanic Nationals in 2022.

Releasing their full-length Future Lovers in 2022, an LP initially devised as a concept album that evolved into a vessel of personal self-discovery, Banks Arcade cemented their future-facing trademark style while also turning heads courtesy of their emphatic soundscapes, searing metal and hip-hop additions.

ENSLAVED | release 'Sequence - Live' single/video taken from 'The Otherworldly Big Band Experience'

Today is the Winter Solstice, a significant day in the Pagan calendar marking the symbolic death and rebirth of the Sun. In the Northern Hemisphere it is the single day of the year with the longest period of night, with the days after becoming increasingly lighter.

In celebration of this special day, left-field metal luminaries Enslaved are proud to reveal their single and video for 'Sequence - Live'. The track, which originally comes from their 2020 record Utgard, sees a live recording detailing a new interpretation of the song, with nuanced accompaniment by fellow psychedelic Norwegian prog band Shaman Elephant. This extraordinary performance took place during the 2021 Winter Solstice, via the stunning streaming event 'The Otherworldly Big Band Experience'.

Watch the 'Sequence - Live' video below.
Listen to the 'Sequence - Live' single here:
https://enslaved.bfan.link/sequence.ema

'The Otherworldly Big Band Experience' was an Enslaved show like none other, their biggest, boldest project to date - a colossal, kaleidoscopic stage show featuring a stellar setlist covering their career, both past and present. Including some tracks never previously performed live.

Enslaved recently played their final live show of the year at Damnation Festival, following on from a hectic festival season with performances at the likes of Midgardsblot,ArcTanGent, Brutal Assault, Beyond The Gates and Desertfest Antwerp, on-top of a co-headline tour across the USA and Canada earlier this year with Insomnium.

Enslaved's latest avant-garde creation, Heimdal, was released earlier this year. Their breathtaking 16th studio album is both a departure and a communion with roots forged over three decades ago in the turbulent birth throes of Norway’s black metal scene. It's a record that points towards new beginnings, and a dawn that’s on the other side of the apex of the land. A psychedelic journey through arcane Norse folklore, connecting with one's ancient ancestors and our future selves.

You can order/stream Heimdal here:
https://enslaved.bfan.link/heimdal.ema

Never faltering, Norway’s iconic Enslaved continue to exist as one of the most original and dependable components in our scene's indestructible backbone. Possessing the reputation as one of the most riveting live acts around, they never fail to offer us talent of the highest calibre, always doing justice to their signature black/progressive sound. Enslaved was formed in 1991 by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson, releasing their first demo Yggdrasill in the summer of 1992, their legendary mini-album Hordanes Land coming out in 1993, and with their debut full-length Vikingligr Veldi arriving in the spring of 1994.

Enslaved in 2023 are a band in stellar form - a band at its most existentialist and self-conscious, proud Bergeners bearing the torch of their hometown’s extraordinary musical history. Their most recent material shows Enslaved at their most unleashed and thought-through - a lethal combination unfurling a potential that’s easily rekindling the furor of their early works while dancing gracefully through their most ambitious, most haunting and most musical tunes yet. A contradiction? Life itself is a contradiction. And yet we all live to prove it wrong.

Enslaved are:
Ivar Bjørnson | guitars
Grutle Kjellson | vocals
Arve 'Ice Dale' Isdal | guitar
Håkon Vinje | keyboards, clean vocals
Iver Sandøy | drums

HEILUNG Announce First U.S. Ritual of 2024

The Nordic collective had a lot to celebrate in 2023. Maria Franz, Chritsopher Juul, Kai Uwe Faust and their band of warriors continued to tour in support of their latest album Drif, which
Metal Hammer called "a carefully woven tapestry of ideas" and "a natural evolutionary step for a band who understand the unique power of story and song".

They performed their spellbinding ritual at European summer festivals before heading across the Atlantic for a successful U.S. tour.

"Absolutely bewitching",
Sonic Perspectives said about Heilung's performance in Austin, Texas. "...a deeply transformative spiritual experience".

"Utterly unique" -
The Arts STL

"Truly one-of-a-kind...a beautiful display of artistic expression" -
Melodic Mag

"In a world where bands get compartmentalized into easily-digestable categories, Heilung goes against the grain" -
Creative Loafing.

Last week, people around the globe watched Heilung perform at The Game Awards.

The Nordic collective premiered "Seidh" in front of a star-studded audience at The Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, December 7. This song will appear on the soundtrack for Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, which is scheduled for release in 2024. Heilung wrote the full soundtrack for the game in collaboration with Ninja Theory.

Watch Heilung perform at The Game Awards:
https://youtu.be/Zu2z5M4gmno?t=3426.

Since its inception in 2015, the enigmatic ritual collective Heilung has been paving melodic paths to the past with their unique and mystifying sound. Evading all conventional genre tags and the confines of any specific labels, the group aptly self-describes their sound as “amplified history,” emphasizing their ability to connect modern society with the rudiments of humanity’s beginnings through music. Heilung once again journeys back in time with its new chapter, ‘Drif;’ however, unlike previous offerings that centered around prehistoric northern Europe, album number three will explore other great rudimentary civilizations outside of Europe.

“All the songs on ‘Drif’ have their own stories,” adds Heilung throat singer and one of the band’s three composers, Kai Uwe Faust. Each has its place and sense of belonging, with inspiration not only from Northern Europe, but from the ancient great civilizations,” explains the band. “We took the ancient surrounding advanced civilizations in account, because our ancestral Nordic civilizations did not just pop up, exist and disappear in isolation. Already in the Bronze Age, we found silk on German land that was imported already from the far, far East 3000 years ago. From the Viking age, we found beads that were brought there from present-day Syria high up in the Northern mountains.

“Centrally important concepts, still in extensive use today, like the number Zero and all the mathematical universes deriving from it, the use of iron and the general concept of settling all originate from traditional high civilizations outside the north and still fundamentally changing our ancestor’s world.

“With singing these primordial songs we want to give tribute to these cultures, reconnect to the beginnings and remember that we all, from East to West, from past to present, are connected through the exchange of ideas and inspiring each other.”

Meaning “gathering,” ‘Drif’ serves as more than merely a gateway that bridges history with modern day society, but is also a statement of the strength in unity and togetherness, which will come as no surprise to those who have experienced Heilung’s live ritual, in which every ceremony starts with a reminder that “we are all brothers.” “‘Drif’ means ‘gathering,’’ explains Heilung. “A throng of people, a horde, a crowd, a pack. In symbiosis with the album title, ‘Drif’ consists of a flock, a collection, a gathering, a collage of songs, that much like little flames were seeking towards each other, to join, to bond, to create, and be greater together.”

While Heilung features authentic and archaic instrumentation that ranges from rattles and ritual bells to human bones and throat singing, their captivating brand of music is far from primitive. Producer and founding member Christopher Juul implements subtle electronic elements that elevates the musical atmosphere and provides a more in-depth and layered soundscape.

“This album has very clearly dictated its own path. Our attempts to tame it were repeatedly fruitless, and once we came to this realization, the creative flow surged forward with immense force. So much so that sometimes it felt like the songs wrote themselves,” the band adds.

Heilung’s success has been unprecedented, achieving milestones in its few short years of existence that many do not see in a lifetime. The collective already had rapidly been growing a buzz upon the self-release of their first full-length, ‘Ofnir,’ in 2015, but their dizzying upward trajectory really took off from the moment they set foot on the stage at Castlefest in 2017 for the now-legendary debut of their live ritual. Luckily for those who were not fortunate enough to bare witness to this magical event, the full ceremony was captured on film, having since been viewed by tens of millions of fans across the globe.

As Heilung trekked across Europe and brought their mystifying experience to new audiences, talk of this new band and their stunning ceremony made way to Season of Mist label owner Michael Berberian, who quickly offered the band a record contract after seeing their undeniable musical impact for himself.

By 2019, Heilung launched their second full-length record, ‘Futha,’ which contrasted the masculine and battle-heavy themes of their debut with a feminine counterpart that celebrated fertility and female energy. Upon the first week of the record’s release, it graced the Billboard charts with coveted numbers, debuting at #3 on the Heatseekers Charts and #4 on the Billboard World Music Chart, placing on a total of seven Billboard charts while meeting critical-acclaim from the press on a global scale.

Having already made its way around Europe, Heilung announced its first ever North American tour for the start of 2020, which sold out entirely within 72 hours of ticket on-sale. The band later returned to the United States and performed their live ritual for a sold out audience of 10,000 people at the historic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO (USA), further solidifying their early legacy status.

By this time, the band’s music started to appear in places outside the confines of music venues, videos, and vinyl. From hit television series like ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Vikings’ to video game giants like ‘Conqueror’s Blade VII: “Wolves of Ragnarök’ and ‘Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II’ to the blockbuster Robert Eggers film ‘The Northman,’ Heilung’s music has risen far above the underground and has transcended into a greater world. Even a global pandemic couldn’t slow down Heilung’s success; it only strengthened them and gave them the gift of time to complete work on album number three, ‘Drif.’

According to Greek philosopher Pythagoras, three is a divine number, signifying harmony, wisdom, and understanding. He also believed it to be the number of time – past, present, future; birth, life, death; beginning, middle, end. Purposefully or not, ‘Drif’ embodies this philosophy, putting forth a divine work of art that ties together the beginning of civilization with the modern world today. Make no mistake, Heilung still does not represent any modern political or religious ideology, but rather delivers a humbling reminder of where we came from. “Remember, we are all brothers. All people, beasts, tree and stone and wind, we all descend from the one great being that was always there, before people lived and named it, before the first seed sprouted.”

VESTIGE Sign with Season of Mist

Season of Mist is proud to welcome VESTIGE!

Emerging from the vibrant music scene of Paris in late 2022, Vestige, led by composer Théodore Rondeau, is quickly shaping up as a force to be reckoned with in the modern metal landscape. The band's unique blend of shoegaze tones, ambient melodies, and intense, tormented passages caught Season of Mist's attention and captivated our hearts from the very first listen.

Vestige's lineup, consisting of Pierre-André Krauzer (bass), Quentin Regnault (drums), Théodore Rondeau (guitar/ vocals), came together organically during their time in Naraka, with Thomas Petit (guitar) joining them later. This collaboration has resulted in a sonic identity that is both powerful and distinctive.

"We're beyond thrilled to announce our signing with Season of Mist for the first album of Vestige. We cannot wait to show you all what we've been working on with this legendary label this year. Big thanks once again to Michael and Season of Mist for this opportunity. 🏛”

Stay tuned for Janis – an album that elevates modern metal music to new heights.

Hear a sneak peek:
https://youtube.com/shorts/natVtYA6GsI?feature=share
We invite you to join us on this thrilling adventure as we welcome Vestige to the Season of Mist family!

Théodore Rondeau, the creative initiator behind VESTIGE, embarked on a journey of forming the band during a turbulent phase in his life. Emerging as a creative vessel for a complicated emotional journey, the band transcends the boundaries of individual therapy into a collaborative force that hopefully resonates with the feelings that are all too common for so many.

With a profound connection to their craft, Vestige pour their souls into their debut album, infusing it with a captivating blend of melancholy, desperation, and catharsis. The music serves not only as an expression of their turmoil, but as a conduit for listeners to navigate the complexities of their own emotions. Through this process, Vestige becomes a project with the potential to connect with people on a profound level, forging a collective experience through the universal language of music.

The formation of Vestige’s lineup reads like a musical destiny unfolding: Pierre-André Krauzer on the bass, Quentin Regnault on drums, and Théodore on vocals and guitar. They first crossed paths during their tenure in Naraka, a band that shared stages with icons like Cradle of Filth and Alcest. This initial connection laid the groundwork for the formation of the band. Not long after, the addition of Thomas Petit on the second guitar solidified the lineup, bringing a sense of completeness to the ensemble. The band’s sonic identity now established; Vestige is ready to share this experience with the world.

The signing with Season of Mist brings the band’s first milestone, allowing Vestige to share their journey in the form of their debut album, Janis. Poised for release in late 2024, the album is a culmination of their collective efforts and a statement of the band’s arrival in the heavy music scene. Weaving through atmospheric shoegaze textures, melodic landscapes and intense, tormented moments that reflects the emotional spectrum of the human experience, the band are establishing a foothold into the genre of modern metal.

Beyond the studio, Vestige is gearing up for a series of live performance in 2024, setting the stage for an introspective musical experience that brings raw and authentic energy.

Myrath Share New Single "Let It Go"

NEW ALBUM KARMA OUT MARCH 8

Renowned for their transcendent fusion of progressive metal and world music, Myrath take center stage once again with their latest single, "Let It Go." Listen to here.

The Tunisian powerhouse band invites listeners on a mesmerizing journey through soundscapes that seamlessly blend cultural influences with raw, emotive energy.

"Let It Go" is a soul-stirring anthem, charged with profound reflections on the human experience. With evocative lyrics, the song addresses the inevitability of time's passage, acknowledging life's unfair twist and turns. Myrath encourage listeners to release the weight of unfulfilled dreams and hopes, emphasizing the transformative power of letting go. Amidst the struggles portrayed, the chorus emerges as a rallying cry, urging individuals not to doubt their faith and to embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing.

This powerful message aligns seamlessly with Myrath signature sound, blending progressive metal with oriental influences.

"Let It Go" serves as an anthem of resilience, reminding audiences that, despite life's challenges, there is strength in embracing change, finding solace, and, ultimately, letting go of the past. Myrath's ability to weave intricate musical arrangements with profound lyrical themes solidifies their status as an international music force, captivating audiences worldwide.

"Myrath from Tunisia might just be the most underrated band ever. Their new album really excites me – they have something fresh and back it up with a great stage show. They played a tiny stage at Wacken where nobody brings more than guitars and amps and brought a two-truck production. It was amazing!" — Pär Sundström, Sabaton

As the sands of time continued to shape their journey, Myrath's relentless dedication led to the creation of their forthcoming album Karma, slated for release on March 8 via earMUSIC as limited transparent red LP, black LP, and Digipak. The forthcoming opus promises to be a testament to their evolution, delivering a sonic tapestry woven from passion and innovation.

With Karma, Myrath solidify their sound — a powerful and captivating blend of Eastern melodies and Western heavy metal. From the epic opening track "To The Stars" to the hauntingly beautiful "Child Of Prophecy," this album will take you on a theatrical journey through a world of myth and legend.

Featuring soaring vocals, intricate guitar riffs, and complex percussion, Karma showcases the virtuosity and creativity that have made Myrath one of the most exciting and innovative bands in the genre. With its stunning production and lush soundscapes, this album is sure to be a classic for years to come.

Borknagar Announce New Album "Fall" + Share Visualizer For "Summits"

Norway's pioneers of avant-garde and progressive Black Metal BORKNAGARare proud to announce their upcoming monumental twelfth studio album entitled Fall, which will be released worldwide on February 23 via longtime record label partners Century Media Records. Pre-order it here.

Today, the album's first single and opening track "
Summits" is being launched. Listen and check out the visualizer clip, created by Wanderley Perna/W Designer, below.

Fall includes eight majestic tracks across 54 epic minutes of playing time, once again brilliantly mixed by Jens Bogren/ Fascination Street Studios (Opeth, Amon Amarth, Kreator) and featuring stunning album cover artwork by Eliran Kantor (Testament, My Dying Bride, Sodom), which can be viewed above.

BORKNAGAR founder and mastermind Øystein G. Brun comments about Fall as follows, "We are extremely proud to present you all with our twelfth album entitled Fall, another chapter of our musical journey. In many ways, Fall represents a continuation of True North, but as always, we are pushing further and afar to seek even broader and more challenging horizons. Musically, we are loyal to our musical legacy, but we have most certainly walked through fire and ice to reach our highest peak yet. Although Fall represents a wide array of musical and lyrical ideas, the fundamental theme behind the album is based on the fascination and appreciation of the very outskirts of life. Those places, and those beings, in the vast periphery of our own existence that very few live to see or even learn to know about- but still are profoundly essential for our existence. With Fall, we seek to portray and cherish all that holds up and pushes boundaries — against the great fall."

Øystein G. Brun added the following words about the track, "From the day you are born, nature will do everything in its power to get you back into the ground. The lonesome struggle of being you or the mighty struggle of all life, will eventually tear you down from the inside — or from the outside. But for the short glimpse of time we endure, we all seek the ultimate heights of our very own existence. Our first single 'Summits,' from the upcoming album Fall, scopes in on this everlasting drama of life — where the drama unfolds — at the very outskirts of life."

Fall is the follow up to 2019's widely acclaimed True North studio album and will be available as limited first-pressing Digipak CD, Gatefold 2-LP on 180gr vinyl, and as Digital Album with the following track listing.

The vinyl edition of Fall will be available in the following variants:
*Gatefold black 2LP
*Ltd. Gatefold neon orange 2LP (300x copies, available from cmdistro.de + various other retailers)
*Ltd. Gatefold transp. bottle green 2LP (300x copies, available from EMP & Nuclear Blast)
