And to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this legendary concert, one of the day’s standout performers, Triumph, will be issuing the double-LP, Live at the US Festival. The set will only be available via the official Triumph merch store - officialtriumphmerch.com - and specifics about the set include:

We killed it. The band was hotter than a pistol. That day will always be locked in my memory – flying in on the chopper and looking at the endless amount of people and going, ‘What have we got ourselves into here?!’”

Between 1975-1988, Triumph – singer/guitarist Rik Emmett, singer/drummer Gil Moore, and Levine – rocked the world, and in the process, gave us countless classic hard rock anthems (“Fight the Good Fight,” “Hold On,” “Magic Power,” “Lay It On the Line,” “A World of Fantasy,” etc.) and albums (Just a Game, Progressions of Power, Allied Forces, Never Surrender, Thunder Seven, etc.).

NYC-based chill-lounge master Roman Angelos teams up with Scott Solter on new 'Swimming Through The Aisles (Teeming Mix)’

Insanely cheerful and groovy lounge muzak. It’s fantastic” ~ Electronic Sound

"Far-from-ordinary... a delightful nostalgia-inducing instrumental exploration of movement and sonic fluidity. Highly memorable and grounding" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Pretty Glorious"
~ Stewart Maconie, BBC 6 Music

"Fluid and meditative, yet so catchy - taking elevator music to new lounge-loving heights, puts the thrill in chill" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"A fun escapist collection of music" ~ The Electricity Club

"Guaranteed to stick in your brain" ~ Shindig!

London-based label Happy Robots Records has announced the forthcoming 'Supermarkets, Underwater' album by Brooklyn-based electronic artist Roman Angelos and producer Scott Solter, which will be released on May 19. Ahead of this, you can enjoy the first single 'Swimming Through The Aisles (Teeming Mix)', along with a special live performance version of the remix.

This 9-track collection follows his 2022 sophomore album 'Music For Underwater Supermarkets', a sleeper hit that combines electronica and exotica, painting a sonic dreamscape transposing the mundane act of grocery shopping to an aquatic utopian landscaping.

Exploring Roman's obsession with the library and soundtrack music, with unfashionable sonic influences from Burt Bacharach to Vangelis, this record was brilliantly received with Electronic Sound Magazine describing it as “an album of splendid vibes”.

Roman Angelos is the nom de plume of Brooklyn-based producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Rich Bennett, developed as a vehicle to explore his obsession with library recordings of the 60's and 70s, muzak and exotica. Exotic, dreamy, and wistful, this is the sound of a jazz sextet as channeled through synths and drum machines, creating a spacey feel.

'Supermarkets, Underwater' is a fully reimagined remix of the original album from producer/engineer Scott Solter (St. Vincent, Maps & Atlases, Spoon, Superchunk, The Mountain Goats). Flipping the script, Solter takes the bouncy and upbeat material of the original album, creating a darker and more ambient landscape.  Weaving in noise and shifting electronic percussion, it’s an entirely new record. Listeners dive deeper into unknown waters, no longer shopping alongside the friendly fish.

Lead track 'Swimming Through The Aisles (Teeming Mix)' uses the same irregular time signature and feel of the original, but adds in tremolo vibraphones, reverse guitars, and electronic drums, giving the music a new feel of exploration.

The original recordings were produced by Rich Bennett at Acme Hall Studios in Brooklyn and were recorded live to tape, all together in one room, by Colin Marston (Jarboe, Sailors With Wax Wings).

Beyond the world of library electronica, Rich Bennett has been involved in a diverse group of musical projects, including the newly reunited outsider / 60s proto-punk group The Shaggs, dream pop outfit Mahogany, and Brazilian funk group Limoncello, in addition to production work with Stereolab's Morgane Lhote (aka Hologram Teen).

Roman’s previous releases for Happy Robots have gained praise from Electronic Sound Magazine, Hi-Fi World, Shindig! Magazine, The Electricity Club, Freq and The Haunted Generation, as well as BBC6 Music radio play from Gideon Coe, Cerys Matthews and Stuart Maconie’s Freak Zone, plus Bob Fisher (BBC Tees).

On April 26, 'Swimming Through The Aisles (Teeming Mix)' will be available everywhere digitally, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. The 'Supermarkets, Underwater' album is out on May 19 with distribution by Cargo Records. The CD version will be available exclusively at  https://happyrobotsrecords.bandcamp.com

Oxford indiepop outfit JODY AND THE JERMS present utter charm on third album 'Wonder'. Watch the videos for 'Insatiable' & 'Started Something'

"With positivity and buoyancy, their catchy music is light on mood and heavy on melody. On ‘Wonder’, Jody and the Jerms has found a winning formula for success with glossy pop, jangling guitar, elegiac harmonies, memorable choruses and wistful melancholy" ~ The Spill Magazine

"It’s almost like power pop, a bit Bangles... or jangle pop. Lovely" ~ Radcliffe & Maconie, BBC 6 Music

"Jody had to be coerced into singing, and she does it really well. It's good isn't it!" ~ Janice Long - BBC Wales

"Poised and perfect... A joyous romp through everything that made pop so great... sassy and full of buoyant energy, shot through with chime and charm, and has lashings of sing-along-ability" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Aglow in sugar-spun pop confections and unforgettable harmonies that conjures the jangling heyday of The Bangles and the buoyant rhythms of The Regrettes" ~ Stereo Embers Magazine

"Rapidly becoming Oxford’s most prolific band... knocking out songs at a rate of knots but not at the price of quality" ~ Nightshift Magazine

UK indie pop outfit Jody and the Jerms present their full-length album 'Wonder', released via JATJ Records and arriving on a wave of rave reviews and airplay for lead tracks 'Started Something' and 'Insatiable'.

Their third album to date, this new collection of 12 tracks was produced, mixed and mastered by RIDE frontman Mark Gardener at his OX4 Sound Studio in Oxfordshire. Loaded with a healthy dose of melodic chrystallised indie pop that is heartfelt and honest, they present endearing jangle-pop songs that are both evocative and relatable.

"We recorded the guitars and drums with Mark Gardener at his OX4 Sound Studio almost as an afterthought following a long day of recording tracks for the 'Wonder' album. We were about to call it a day, but we just kinda let rip with the guitar riff and a real nice and simple rock drum beat. But it wasn’t until Jody set the song’s direction with the lyrics that we know we had a really good single," says Niall Jeger.

Order the 'Wonder' album  https://jodyandthejerms.ffm.to/wonder

Championed by the late Janice Long at BBC, among others, Jody and the Jerms is a collective revolving around Jody Jeger (vocals) and Niall Jeger (guitars and vocals) with other band members coming from The Anydays, who have graced the pages of NME, played with Radiohead and Supergrass, and were featured on Mark Radcliffe at BBC Radio 2.

'Wonder' follows their ‘Flicker’ album (2022) and debut album 'Deeper' (2020). Here, the Jerms deliver 12 jangle-pop gems, crafted with a sanguine innocence and vivid relatability. Warmly nostalgic and graced by Jody’s sweet-natured vocal, the band's output radiates somewhere between The Go-Go's, Blondie, The Bangles and The Darling Buds.

Formed in Oxford in 2019, Jody and the Jerms have been writing, recording and performing their blend of melodic and uplifting indie/ alt rock ever since, having enjoyed national airtime on Radio X (UK), Sirius XM (USA) and RTVE (Spain), as well as BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, BBC Wales and BBC Ulster.

Jody and the Jerms' sound recalls those untouchable days indie music enjoyed in the 90s, possessing seemingly effortlessness melodies and choruses which embed themselves in your head for days.

As of April 21, the 'Wonder' album is available on BandcampSpotifyApple Music and other fine digital music platforms. It will also be released on limited edition CD and pretty pink vinyl. Jody and the Jerms are touring the UK in support of this release. Tickets can be ordered at https://jodyandthejerms.com/live

Melbourne-based Suburban Spell presents 'Bright Gold Cross', first taste of forthcoming 'Falling Down' EP

Catchy hooks and delicate synth lines that soar... Stunning, deep, beautiful” ~ Auxiliary Magazine

"Fantastic... driving, propulsive, and unfiltered, examining the experience of “signing up to a life of suburbia at an early age, only to realise many years later that the suburban dream is all a fabrication"" ~ Post-Punk.com

“Catchy melodies and a subtle touch of old Xymox and New Order … Recommended” ~ Sonic Seducer

"Shimmering, smoothly frantic... freewheeling but taut... elusive but striking... one of our favorite records of the year” ~ Stereo Embers Magazine

Melbourne-based synthwave artist Suburban Spell presents his new single 'Bright Gold Cross', the first taste of his forthcoming 'Falling Down' EP, named such in direct reference to the long-term consequences of bad choices and giving into guilty pleasures.

The accompanying video, with its slick shadow-play, was created by Dingo Cross Films in Melbourne and produced and directed by Paul Puccio and Cassie Dart.

Suburban Spell is the solo project of Peter Endall, whose music combines the austere beauty of Kraftwerk, 80's melodic sensibilities, driving rhythms and some noisy grind thrown in for good measure. Influenced by the heyday of new wave and 70's-80's electronica, this music carries the beautiful imprints of such artists as Ultravox, OMD, Visage, Jean-Michel Jarre, The Cars, Gary Numan and New Order.

Peter's previous band Schizo Scherzo was active in the heady days of Melbourne's 80's music scene, playing alongside such acts such as The Eurythmics, Pseudo Echo, Real Life and Fergal Sharky. Having re-emerged on the music scene as Suburban Spell, he has found his niche in modern Australian electronica.

"The song 'Bright Gold Cross' is symbolic of the act of absolution in a Christian religious setting and how it can be used to dissolve years of appaling behaviour. Absolution is an act that forgives mortal sins and enables one to die in the "state of grace", able to eventually enter heaven, This is essentially a "get of jail free card" for those inclined to use it," says Peter Endall.

Suburban Spell's music is an observation and commentary on the fragility of suburban lifestyle and the never-ending efforts to keep up appearances, as well as an exploration of society's dark and fragile underbelly. But his music is also a commentary about his own vulnerabilities in the urban landscape and the wider societal norms that interlace with politics, religion and pop culture.

"Bright Gold Cross is about seeking redemption and how the church is a vehicle that allows you to hide your sins and hand out forgiveness at will," says Endall.

"The odd circumstances of my childhood upbringing and the religious cult that I was raised in during those years have had a somewhat quixotic impact on me and Suburban Spell. Exposed to a belief system that was ultimately flawed with a very inconsistent set of values throughout my formative childhood years, these challenges are constant references when creating music for the Suburban Spell project."

In February 2023, Suburban Spell released the 'Split Levels - Remixes' EP, a series of reworkings of his acclaimed 2022 'Split Levels' album, involving goth-rock / post-punk legend William Faith (Christian Death, Mephisto Walz, Shadow Project, Faith & The Muse, The Bellwether Syndicate), along with New Zealand's Robots In Love, Australia's Ontic, Pittsburgh's Tragic Impulse and Italian artist Kurs.

As of April 26, 'Bright Gold Cross' will be available across fine digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp, where the 'Falling Down' EP can already be pre-ordered ahead of its June 23 release.

Andrew will release his next single "Systematic Minds" on May 5, 2023.

Experience molds and shapes the stories we tell. Andrew Hagar’s often unbelievable, always fascinating life informs his smoky rock ‘n’ roll with a hint of rootsy mystique and a heavy dose of Americana-style reality. If Nick Cave came up in Seattle circa 1990, it might sound something like this! Thus far, his journey has twisted and turned from underground MMA fights in college and a stint as a trainer to cutting his teeth live by sharing the stage with none other than the legendary Kris Kristofferson. After earning acclaim courtesy of Consequence of Sound and more, all of these experiences bleed into his 2023 independent debut EP, Limited Edition Psycho.

“I’ve had an incredibly crazy and unique life, and I hope you can hear it in what I’m writing,” he muses. “I pull from all of those experiences. A lot of people are just chasing pleasure. For me, it goes back to the martial arts mentality: you continue to challenge yourself and grow. My goal is to convey the lessons I’ve learned in life through the songs.”

Andrew was quite literally born into music. As the son of Sammy Hagar, his earliest memories included birthdays on the tour bus and dad carrying him out on stage to the roar of the crowd. However, it would take a while for music to become his personal focal point—he had to live first. Instead, he first gravitated to martial arts.

Inspired by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, he begged mom and dad for karate classes. “It never stopped,” he smiles. He studied Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu at just 15-years-old. While in the middle of college, he fought in a series of amateur fights known as “smokers.” A potentially career ending knee injury, stacked class schedule, and full-time corporate job derailed his burgeoning fight career through.

However, he never strayed too far from combat sports, covering UFC as a journalist for Sherdog and eventually landing a job as a Muay Thai trainer at Werdum Fight Team in Venice Beach under former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum. For the next decade, he also trained actors from television shows such as The Americans, as well as Vida Guerra and more.

Along the way, he eventually traded Guitar Hero for the real thing, teaching himself how to play on YouTube before fronting a short-lived two-man punk band. Not long after, he launched a folk duo with Kelly Kristofersson and toured Scotland with her father Kris.

“When I stepped off stage for the first time, the feeling was indescribable,” he admits. “I thought it was something I could do for the rest of my life. I had never considered music would make me so happy. As much as loved fighting, it didn’t give me the same feeling that playing live did. I decided to do everything I could to make that feeling a reality in my life.” Teaming up with Trev Lukather behind the board as producer and co-writer, he assembled Limited Edition Psycho over the course of 2021. Nodding to influences such as Alice In Chains, Nine Inch Nails, and Stone Temple Pilots, as well as, classic folk, he infuses eloquent lyricism into grunge-inflected grooves.

“I did a lot of my formative growing outside of the public lens,” he notes. “I’m bringing something more confident and fully formulated to the table as an artist, because I waited until the right time to do this.”

Following singles such as “Judgement Day” and “Cold Knife Karma,” he paved the way for the EP with “Redlight Appetite.” Consequence of Sound hailed the latter as “a glammed-out rocker that unabashedly aims for a massive stadium sound.”Elsewhere, “Slave To Your Name” builds from airy verses into a disarmingly catchy refrain, “Dancing with a ball and chain, high on cheap cocaine, nothing’s changed, I’m a slave to your name.”

“It’s one of the more personal songs,” he states.

Then, there’s “Systematic Minds.” Ethereal guitars glide over a robust beat as his voice rings out on another magnetically massive melodic chant.

“More than ever, people’s opinions are not their own,” he notes. “A lot of people won’t even post something online unless they know everyone else will agree. They’re not living their lives for themselves; they’re living their lives for others. It’s worse than it’s ever been. The song is about how we’re all brainwashed into a certain style of thinking. We’re capable of controlling our own thoughts though. You have to master your mind, or else you become a slave to it.”

As the project stares down addiction, isolation, depression, and darkness, the title perfectly hints at Andrew’s headspace.

"'Limited Edition Psycho' means we all think we’re special even though we are all for the most part truly alike,”__ he goes on. “Everyone has the same issues, so these are mine.”_

In the end, Andrew’s story remains relatable through and through, because it’s real.

“When you listen to my music, I hope you walk away with a different perspective,” he leaves off. “I also want you to feel a sense of belonging. I’m just a guy who’s working really hard to embody all of the values I appreciate in the world. I try to be 1% better every day. I want to be able express myself in the songs and bring them to anybody who wants to hear what I have to say.”

IAN ABEL BAND Releases New Blues Rock Gem, "Why Boston?!

Louisville, KY Based IAN ABEL BAND has released his newest, blues / psychedelic rock single, "Why Boston?". Featuring the inimitable front-man's incredible guitar and vocals, "Why Boston" showcases why IAN ABEL is a favorite of All Elite Wrestling and legacy pro-wrestling super star CODY RHODES!

"'Why Boston?' Is an angry, rage fueled heartbreak song that delves into the realms of progressive and psychedelic rock. It was actually the first tune I taught Kenny Schwartz when he auditioned for the band with then powerhouse bassist, and Houston native, Corey Dozier. It was still a big work in progress when we brought Kenny in to audition, but Corey thought it would be a fun way to test out how quick we could gel together with a new song. Both halves of the song were fleshed out, but the brief noise section in the middle would come later as it was a byproduct of a 2+ minute, Mars Volta inspired, free jazz section that was excluded from the final recording. The band still activates that section live, but at the insightful questioning of Jon Graber, we thought it would be better to not add any more time to the already 4 minute song. The video is comprised of archival footage of a few iterations of the band playing it out at the Viper Room. Based off the haircuts, mainly 2018." - IAN ABEL

Ian Abel Band is a Louisville, Kentucky based rock outfit fronted by international award winning guitarist Ian Abel, and made up of accomplished studio and touring musicians.

Originally from Louisville Kentucky, Ian Abel, connected with New York drummer, Kenny Schwartz, and high school friend, Westray Tackett, in Los Angeles in early 2017. Together with the help of their friend and master audio engineer, Jon Graber, they began tracking an 11 song album in 2018 at United Recording.

The first song released from that recording session, titled “Shoes”, gained global recognition when it was licensed by All Elite Wresting for a promotional video for the historic fight between Cody & Dustin Rhodes at the company’s inaugural pay-per-view, Double or Nothing. The video was nominated for best song/score in a trailer by the Hollywood Music In Media Awards.

Cody & AEW then requested another song from Ian, “Not Afraid To Die”, which was used to promote the match between Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin, where Darby went on to win TNT Championship at AEW’s pay-per-view, Revolution.

Ian’s latest release, “Eyes On You” was featured on an Official Apple Music Playlist, ‘New In Rock’, and was quoted as “creating an expansive, stadium-ready rock sound,” in a featured write up by popular regional radio station 91.9 WFPK.

Ian Abel Band has also played and headlined famous Los Angeles venues like The Troubadour, Viper Room, Whisky A Go-Go & Hotel Cafe, Nashville’s The Basement and in 2022 Ian began touring as the lead guitar player for country music legend, T. Graham Brown. Big guitars, big drums and even bigger hooks. That’s what Ian & Ian Abel Band, is all about.

“The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.” - Rudyard Kipling

In an era that is designed to beat down and weaken the individual, Black Flame Eternal is an album that represents strength, empowerment, and total opposition. With mounting pressure to engage in modern societal tribalism, Cloak invokes a spiritual rebellion that exists beyond good and evil with album number three.

“All of our albums are created with a spiritual focus, dealing with how we see life, death, and everything in between. I think the earlier records dealt more with the mysteries that surrounded delving deeper into the world of dark spirituality, whereas the new material has taken what we’ve learned and used it to move forward with force,” says Cloak frontman Scott Taysom of the record’s underlying philosophy. “Black Flame Eternal is a statement of spiritual empowerment in every sense. For the first time we want people to grasp on to this sentiment, instead of keeping it completely personal within our world of Cloak. The themes and the sheer power can be felt much more within the songs that this album contains."

“Our goal is complete spiritual liberation, which is where true power and freedom exists,” he adds. “We’ve reached a point in history where people are forced to pick a side or to join a team, so to speak. Cloak stands in complete opposition to this. We aim to be a giant middle finger in the face of the empty modern world.”

While Cloak might rage against societal conventions, the Atlanta quartet embraces the rebellious and time-tested traditions of heavy metal. Whether it be the conjuring the chaotic spirit of Swedish black metal purveyors Watain and Dissection, summoning the deep, dark and sensual groove of Danzig, or evoking the raw speed and raucous energy of Motörhead, the influence of metal’s founding fathers is deep within Cloak’s DNA. Cloak’s charm, however, does not merely lie within its romanticism of the past, but rather is the way each of these genres has shaped Cloak’s own personal identity. And with Black Flame Eternal, the record sees Cloak continue to strengthen its own unique established sound.

Cloak recognizes the importance of a band’s third record, with Taysom explaining, “These influences will always be important to us, as they are some of the best and most important bands of our time. On the other hand, what is so special about getting to the third record of our career is that inspiration starts to move inwards. We had enough experience and material at this point to really know what we do best and how we can utilize these skills in the best way possible. If you look at some of the most iconic bands, their third albums were massive steps towards greatness. So to us, we feel our third record will be a very important one in our time as a band.”

The Atlantan’s evolution is evident in the fury displayed on Black Flame Eternal, which flawlessly compliments the grandiose melodic atmosphere. “This was a conscious effort. Early on before the album even started, I knew it was going to be a much more aggressive and powerful album. I wanted to take a step away from certain sounds and add a bit of brutality back in. The overall vibe matches who we are much more, so it was only fitting to move towards this sound. It almost feels like we are going back to our roots as people in certain ways,” explains Taysom.

Black Flame Eternal follows up sophomore effort The Burning Dawn, which was released in November 2019, with hell unleashing its fury on the globe just a few short months later. As plans to tour the new album around the world came to a screeching halt, the band did not stagger or falter, and instead used this gift of time to write. When reflecting upon the lost years and its impact, Taysom seemingly embraces the situation with little regrets, “Considering Cloak is a sacred space for us, these exterior things did not have as much of an impact as one might think. But it was impossible to ignore some of what was going on throughout these tumultuous years. It’s bound to affect people’s personal lives and the way the mind works during these interesting times. One thing that it did greatly affect was the fact that we could not promote The Burning Dawn properly after the one U.S. tour we did with 1349. We feel this hurt the record, but there was nothing we could do. We were one of the earliest out of the gate after venues started to open back up, and we’ve been continuing to tour in promotion of that album all the way up until now.”

Cloak utilized every minute of this time to focus on fully realizing its vision for Black Flame Eternal. “The initial stage of the writing process started in January of 2020, and lasted all the way until May 2021. It was the longest spanning album process for us so far, with many long days, nights, and weeks trying to piece the songs together the best we could.” While the record did not come together swiftly or easily, the care and attention put into its creation is evident in its powerful composition.

Making up for lost time, these road warriors have already embarked on several high profile North American tours since the autumn of 2021, commanding audiences in every major city with their chaos magick. Each performance merges the spirit of black metal with the backbone of rock ‘n’ roll as the band consistently delivers a blistering set from start to finish. Taysom describes Cloak’s live approach as “a mixture of ethereal atmosphere and total abrasive chaos. The mixture of these two opposing energies is where Cloak lies; the meeting of high and low. To us, this is where the most interesting moments happen, both emotionally and physically.”

With no borders or boundaries, Cloak is ready to embark on this new chapter as the leader of its own pack. The band bows to no one, forging its own path as one of the governing metal forces of this decade as ‘Black Flame Eternal’ promises to scorch the earth and leave its hallowed mark.

A CLOUD OF RAVENS to release 'Lost Hymns' LP on April 28. Watch their foreboding 'Parable'

“Their sound, though inspired by bands of their youth, is not rooted stubbornly in the past - their music feels of this time, with their messages transversing the cosmos” ~ Post-Punk.com

"Sonic luxuriance... racing at full velocity with tight-fisted riffs, cutting exactitude and danceability... a healthy reminder of the original and timeless allure of the post-punk sound and scene" ~ The Spill Magazine

“Dark poetry... rivet through their gritty and immediate sonic scheme, which feels pitch dark and hard as nails”Destroy // Exist

"Perfect blend of an homage to the past & the modern construction of the future. A heroic journey through a desolate land" ~ Sounds and Shadows

“They play cold wave, they play post-punk, they are Gothic and they set to music some of the most striking lyrics you can find” ~ White Light // White Heat

NYC-based postpunk duo A Cloud of Ravens will release their new 'Lost Hymns' album on April 28, just days after kicking off their European tour with Swedish label-mates Then Comes Silence. Mastered by ACTORS' Jason Corbett at Jacknife Sound studio, this collection of 11 tracks will reach ready ears via Nexilis Records / Schubert Music Europe.

Effectively merging classic and contemporary post-punk and darkwave sensibilities, their somewhat poetic use of prose and metaphor expressed the trials and joys of the world in which we now find ourselves. A Cloud of Ravens' subsequent remix-based EP featured contributions by legendary producer John Fryer and such prominent artists as Clan of Xymox, ACTORS, Chris Vrenna and Ritual Howls.

In the homestretch, they also present their latest single 'Parable' with a video that is as foreboding as the lyrics, following earlier singles 'Requiem For The Sun', 'Nature of Artifice' and 'The Blackest Mantra'.

"In some ways, 'Parable' channels Einstein’s definition of insanity, which is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result," says frontman Matthew McIntosh.

"Though dense in metaphor, 'Parable' is asking - how dire do things need to get in this world for us to realize, as a society and culturally, that maybe something needs to shift as far as how we honor each other, the futility of war, and how we treat the environment? We’ve got one planet, and we’re on it together whether we like it or not. Doesn’t the path of least resistance ultimately make the most sense?"

Formed in 2018 by Matthew McIntosh (guitar and vocals) and Beth Narducci (bass guitar), the Brooklyn-based duo emerged on the burgeoning dark music scene with a series of self-released offerings that garnered attention that led to their 2021 album 'Another Kind of Midnight', a mournful yet triumphant collection exploring the heart of a world amidst a devastating pandemic and torn by moral tribalism.

Growing up in a family of avid music lovers and her mother being a professional opera single, McIntosh arrived at this genre of music after ample explorations in the punk, death rock and hardcore scenes, finally forging the duo's trademark sound with Narducci, whose background is more connected with alternative rock and industrial music, as well as professionally supporting fellow musicians in the A&R field.

As of April 28, the 'Lost Hymns' album will be available from fine digital outlets, including Apple Music, SpotifyAmazon and Bandcamp. Following April-May tour dates in Europe, A Cloud of Ravens will tour North American dates with Clan of Xymox and Curse Mackey in May-June.

New 'Alan's Song' single from Chicago's Evidence of a Struggle a sonic anti-depressant tribute

"Wonderfully cinematic, forward-thinking, open-minded, genre-hopping, rule-breaking... a symphony of sonics, subtlety and suppleness, and of the subverting of expectations. Not to mention a fantastic musical experience" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"'Combines the coolness of electric jazz, Krautrock-inspired post-rock and atmospheric art rock, offering a gripping and upbeat, yet refined, sound and thoughtful arrangement with sonic prowess" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

Chicago-based Evidence of a Struggle presents 'Alan's Song', an intense slice of alternative / post-rock. This is the edge - it is the sound of fear, beauty and hubris. This is the sound of a beautifully crumbling grand distraction.

This new offering follows the debut single 'Do'Oa', which entailed a wonderful fusion of sounds recalling the works of Tortoise and 4AD artist Dif Juz. Cinematic, moody and invigorating, both tracks preview the forthcoming 13-track eponymous album, to be released on June 9.

The two videos for both tracks are the first chapters of a six-chapter story-book, so to speak, created by Chicago artist John Airo, who has been involved with this project since the outset - creating videos, album covers and accompanying visuals for live performances.

Surrounding the musings of multi-instrumentalist William P C Simmons V a.k.a. Rev. Billy Simmons, Evidence of a Struggle is an evolving group of artists and musicians whose sonic creations may lead you to the center of the darkness or just might unfurl the universe before you with lush, cinematic, beautiful, and sometimes chaotic compositions.

"Alan's song is some cinematic Ridley Scott rabbit hole. These songs generally start as observations or reflections on something going on in the world or in my life that affects us somehow. A friend Alan and I were talking about the state of affairs in our world, here in Chicago, family, etc. There has always been so much, too much to put into words. Something about our hubris, chaos, fear, love, hate and distraction," says Rev. Billy.

"Alan's song sounds like some of this ebb and flow, rising and falling. It's somewhere right about to fall off the edge, but somehow floating above the chaos."

Evidence of a Struggle began in 2020 during lockdowns. This ambitious effort sees Rev. Billy play every instrument – guitar, drums, piano, synth and violin - recorded and engineered from his home studio, The Glue Factory. With Covid restrictions lifted, he began working with Sanford Parker (Voivod, Russian Circles, Yob, Eyehategod, Wovenhand, Darkthrone, Youth Code, Pelican), who helped produce and record the final versions of the songs for this record, as well as mastering.

Shaped by a wealth of records inherited from his older sisters and their boyfriends, coupled with a childhood of playing piano and clarinet until his first guitar acquisition at 16, Rev. Billy was quick to start playing with touring bands. After honing his craft and gaining invaluable experience, he elected to study music performance and guitar at Wichita State University, coupled with two and three-dimensional arts and silversmithing.

Noticed for his unique style and songcrafting, various musicians and labels began to notice Rev. Billy's talent, and he ultimately had to choose between university and music. Beginning with RCA recording artist , Simmons also wrote songs and played guitar for other artists on major record labels like RCA, Touch and Go, BMG and Universal.

In 2023, Matt Walker (of1000faces, Smashing Pumpkins, Morrissey, Garbage, Filter) became involved in this project, playing drums and helping with production with Matt's brother Solomon Walker (Morrissey, Bryan Adams, Eastern Shadows, Year of the Rabbit) and Alan Berliant (Chris Connelly, Mavis Staples, Saint Asonia) also contributing bass.

Apart from music, Rev. Billy also owns Rev. Billy's Chop Shop, known for high-quality haircuts, friendly, welcoming atmosphere and its inclusive, creative space. Hosting new artists' work bimonthly, Chicago Reader declared this to be the city's best gallery in 2019. A staple in the Chicago community, Rev. Billy's Chop Shop is as strong a passion as his music.

As of April 25, 'Alan's Song' is available via SpotifyApple Music and Bandcamp, where the full 'Evidence of a Struggle' album (out June 9) can already be pre-ordered.

Y'ALL EAT YET?: Miranda Lambert Book Arrives 4/25 Feeding Fans + Critics

WELCOME TO THE PRETTY B*TCHIN’ KITCHEN
Miranda Lambert’s Y’all Eat Yet? Earns Acclaim Ahead of Release Today, April 25

Texas Monthly, Rolling Stone, People, ShondalandPublishers Weekly and More

Family, Friendship, Chasing the Dream, Texas and Home-Cooking

She’s won three GRAMMYs, been named to the TIME100 list honoring the world’s most influential people, founded her MuttNation Foundation to give shelter animals a chance, topped charts, has a Las Vegas residency, a successful home goods line called Wanda June, her clothing line Idyllwind and is the Academy of Country Music’s most-awarded artist and current Entertainer of the Year. Now, add best-selling author to Miranda Lambert’s list of impressive accomplishments as Y’all Eat Yet: Welcome to The Pretty B*tchin’ Kitchen arrives tomorrow, April 25, at retailers and stores across the country including Walmart, Target, Buc-ee’s, Cracker Barrel, Kroger and Whole Foods, Nashville’s Parnassus Books, plus online HERE.

With Texas Monthly declaring it’s “not your typical Southern cookbook. Part memoir and part cookbook, this is really an ode to the women Lambert grew up with,” Rolling Stone raving, “Y’all Eat Yet? sees the singer opening up her heart and home in more intimate ways than ever before” and Shondaland proclaiming, “Miranda Lambert’s Secret Ingredient Is Sisterhood,” the songwriter/fiery entertainer from Texas delivers her first book in the straight-up, real life way she’s made music, toured the country and built an audience hungry for from-the-heart candor.

“What started during the pandemic as me, my mom and her friends staying close, made me realize all the ways food brought us together for laughter, projects, escaping and even tough stuff,” says Lambert. “Then I thought, ‘Wouldn’t making one of those spiral-bound church cookbooks be cool?’ But once I got started, I realized with all that living, these women – beyond mom, Neicy, Heidi and Vicki, there’s my grandma Nonny and her friends – really created a world that shaped who I was. That’s how Y’all Eat Yet? became so much more than just their recipes! It became a book about chasing my dream, how we live life and bring people together.”

Whether her mother Beverly’s famous meatloaf, Vicki’s deviled eggs, Hummingbird Cake, omelets made in plastic bags or Nonny’s banana pudding, all the dishes come with reflections, stories and the recognition that, as People wrote, “cooking is a way for Lambert to bring back memories of those she loves most.” As Texas Monthly noted, “Miranda Lambert’s cookbook is a Texan’s dream,” and Y’all Eat Yet is a perfect gift for everything from Mother’s Day to a bridal shower or graduation.

“Good food nourishes the heart and the soul as much as the body,” Lambert explains. “It doesn’t have to be fancy or hard to make; just something that tells people how loved and welcome they are. By stripping things down to the basics, whether it’s the holidays, glamping or just sitting around playing songs, you can make being together special without much fuss. That’s how I was raised and try to live!”

Variously topping Southern U.S. Cooking, Food and Wine, Celebrity and TV Show Cookbooks, Burger & Sandwich Recipes and other lists, previews of Y’all Eat Yet have already connected with readers, eaters and people who love Lambert’s take on living, music and facing the world. Yes, everything in Y’all Eat Yet is delicious, but it also represents larger truths – whether facing tough news over breakfast, being traditional on Thanksgiving, or grabbing a Locomotive to celebrate – for family, friends and anyone who drops in.

Publishers Weekly concurs, “Lambert uses stories of food to celebrate friendship, good times, and the importance of kinship.” Acclaimed Vanity Fair alum Jesse Kornbluth praises via HeadButler, “Miranda Lambert may have achieved superstardom, but in her book, she is as down-home authentic as her recipe for Paw Paw Sauce,” and Booklist boils it down to the fact that the book, “quite simply, will enchant.”

Lambert will share the acclaimed book with fans during signing events at the 5th Avenue Barnes & Noble store in New York City on April 25 at 12 p.m. ET, at The Grove Barnes & Noble store in Los Angeles on April 28 at 11 a.m. PT and in her hometown of Lindale, Texas – where many of the book’s stories were born – at her own Pink Pistol store on May 9 at 12 p.m. CT, ahead of the ACM Awards in nearby Dallas on May 11 where she is nominated in five categories: Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year (as both artist and producer), Female Artist of the Year and Artist-Songwriter of the Year.

For those not lucky enough to get a ticket to one of her signings, Lambert can be seen on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers tonight (April 24), plus CBS Mornings, ABC’s Live with Kelly & Mark and Tamron Hall tomorrow (April 25), on BRAVO’s Watch What Happens Live on May 1 and on HBO Max/CNN’s Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace on May 5.

Today, the band has shared the video for the additional song "Ignorance."

"This track came about near the very end of the Color Decay sessions," the band shares. "We had almost wrapped the record when Kyle cooked up the original demo for it, and we knew it was something special! We are stoked that it's finally getting released and that we can continue our expansion of the Color Decay universe."

The band continues, "Writing and producing 'Ignorance' was like an experiment in what we can do as The Devil Wears Prada. We are always trying to push our creative boundaries, and this track delivers that with a combination of things you wouldn't expect from us, like an acoustic intro, a guitar solo, and a bunch of hyperpop synths."

ABOUT TDWP:
The Devil Wears Prada have been consistently delivering since forming in 2005. Fans voted 2009's seminal With Roots Above and Branches Below one of the 5 Greatest Metalcore Albums in a Revolver poll, with the magazine christening it "a true metalcore landmark." The group has notched six consecutive Top 5 debuts on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart, including Dead Throne [2011], 8:18 [2013], Space EP [2015], Transit Blues [2016], The Act [2019], and ZII EP [2021]. The latter served as a sequel to one of their most beloved projects — 2010's Zombie EP. In the wake of the EP, the group exceeded a-quarter-of-a-billion cumulative streams and views. During 2021, the musicians decamped to remote hideaways together in Wisconsin and Desert Hot Springs, California. This time around, Jon took the reins as producer, collaborating closely to assemble a rich sonic architecture for what would become Color Decay.

REACH NYC Share "Killing Time" Video — WATCH

BAND SIGNS TO AFM RECORDS

Reach NYC
, the alt-metal outfit born out of the legendary New York City hardcore scene, have announced their return with a worldwide signing on German powerhouse label AFM Records. Featuring special appearances by Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach, Kiiara, Sonny + Marcos from P.O.D, Joey Santiago from The  Pixies and Sendog from Cypress Hill, Reach NYC are currently gearing up for the release of their long-awaited sophomore studio album.

Nils Wasko, Senior A&R Director of AFM Records, says, "Right from the start of our discussions with René Mata and REACH NYC, creativity and teamwork were the key words. We A&R'ed the whole album together and chose the best engineers and producers available. AFM is here to make sure everyone feels supported in every way. Getting to know René Mata has been such a pleasure and together we will propel their artistry even further on a global hard rock stage."

Formed on Long Island in 1996, Reach were active on the New York scene, frequently rocking infamous haunts like CBGBs alongside the heavy hitting Papa Roach and System of a Down, and festivals like Vans Warped Tour.

Originally named Reach 454, they caught a break when Lava/Atlantic president Jason Flom signed them after a strong performance at a label showcase. The band entered the studio in 2002 with producer Jay Baumgardner (Papa Roach, Evanescence), and emerged in the summer of 2003 with their self-titled debut. The album showcased Reach 454's dynamic melodic shifts and riff-heavy guitar work. The band fell on hard times in 2004 and took an indefinite hiatus.

Throughout the years, Chester Bennington, one of Mata's closest friends, expressed to Rene how important it was for him to keep playing music. The last time Rene and Chester were together in NYC, they hosted a dinner hang with Jacoby, Tobin, and Tony from Papa Roach, Matt Sorum, Marcos of P.O.D., and Rob from Volbeat. While enjoying their dinner, Bennington presented the idea of wanting to put together a tour for the following year with Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Deftones, System of a Down, Papa Roach and wanted Reach to open. Disastrously, the singer passed away that same July of 2017, and Mata fell into a dark depression.

Reach NYC is now premiering a music video for new single "Killing Time," and Mata reveals, "The song is about my internal fight with myself after after losing a close friend. I had relapsed after 25 years of sobriety and had fallen into a massive depression after Chester passed away. The video is the chaos in my subconscious in relapse and depression. A full on war in my heart, head, and soul. Without recovery, family, and friends, I wouldn't have made it out alive. I know the band conveyed it in their playing and recording of the song."

In 2019, Reach NYC drummer Dante and Marcos Curiel encouraged Rene to put the band back together and open for P.O.D. in NYC. It was the band's first show since 2004, and it quickly rekindled their friendship and their love of music. Their love for creating music, as well as the importance of friends and family, renewed their dedication to keep the project going.

On October 9, 2020 Reach NYC returned to the airwaves with a new EP titled, Back From the Dead, their first release in 17 years, also featuring Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach. The EP was mixed by Jay Baumgardner and mastered by Howie Weinberg in Los Angeles. Reach NYC features Rene Mata on vocals, Dante Renzi on drums, Nick Cavagnaro (guitars, vocals), and more recently adding young guns AJ Chiarella on guitars and vocals as well as bassist Tim Robbins.

Reach NYC quickly got back to the stage, and returned to the New York scene performing with longtime friends Quicksand at the Bowery, and made an appearance at Danny Wimmer's historic Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona, FL in 2021. Most recently, Reach NYC signed a new international deal with AFM records and are currently recording their sophomore record that is set to release in 2023, with special appearances by Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach, Kiiara, Sonny + Marcos from P.O.D, Joey Santiago from The Pixies, and Sendog of Cypress Hill and Powerflo.

JOHNNY THE BOY Shares New Single, "Druh"

Emerging black 'n' roll trio JOHNNY THE BOY (ft. members of CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX) will be debuting its first full length, 'You,' via Season of Mist on June 9, 2023! The band is now sharing a brand new single, "Druh," which can be found below.

Pre-save "You" HERE and pre-order "You" HERE.

JOHNNY THE BOY has done it again.

Sometimes the best ideas come from spontaneity. Sometimes they come from gut instinct. When both happen simultaneously, anything is possible, unimaginable horrors included.

Born from a simple idea, and eventually coalescing over the last couple of years into a fully-formed entity, JOHNNY THE BOY make music that fucking hurts. Armed with a scabrous but sculpted blend of ice-cold black metal, excoriating sludge and sinewy, white-knuckle rock’n’roll, the trio’s musical identity has arrived, perfectly imperfect and ready to eviscerate. Formed around a creative core of vocalist Belinda Kordic, guitarist Justin Greaves (both members of Crippled Black Phoenix) and bassist Matt Crawford (CBP alumnus and live bassist), JOHNNY THE BOY began life as an instinctive grab for something darker and nastier.

“It began at a rehearsal with CBP many, many years ago,” says Greaves. “We were rehearsing down at Arthur’s, where CBP used to practice, and it was during one of those rehearsals that I just got on the guitar, someone else got on the drums and we were just fart-arsing about, with Belinda doing her necro vocals! Then we posted a little clip online and people starting asking, ‘Oh, is this legit?’ Like always, it took fucking years to even think about doing anything, but it was always going to happen.”

“In the background, there’s the fact that in the first band I was ever in, I sang that way,” adds Kordic. “I really missed doing that. We both missed that whole Iron Monkey, Varukers, aggressive side of music. That’s the first way of singing that I loved, and I’ve missed doing it. So we always wanted to do this.”

Brought together by a love of dark, twisted and extreme music and energised by an opportunity to return to the full-bore hostilities of their earlier creative years, JOHNNY THE BOY‘s debut album You is the final proof that the best ideas cannot be stopped. A collaborative effort that brought the evil best out of everyone involved, it’s an album that has been stewed in real blood, sweat and tears. But mainly sweat.

“Justin starting working for me at a venue in our hometown, and there was a mention of doing something called World War,” says Crawford. “We went to our rehearsal room for two days. It was the hottest, most uncomfortable sweatiest room ever, and we were trying to write the coldest, bleakest music you could imagine! So it was horrific, but I think we got five tracks out of those two days. Me and Justin were together in Scunthorpe, and Belinda was working remotely in Sweden, and that was before it was cool!”

One of the songs from that initial batch of JOHNNY THE BOY material was No Regrets: a caustic blast of blackened fury that was mischievously planted at the very end of Crippled Black Phoenix’s acclaimed 2022 full-length Banefyre, almost as a clandestine warning of the darkness to come.

“That was Justin’s idea. When we recorded Banefyre, he said, ‘Why not sneak in and record a JOHNNY THE BOY track?’,” says Kordic. “We did that and No Regrets went on the album, and then Michael at Season Of Mist said he wanted a whole album from us.”

“Yeah, No Regrets played two roles at the same time,” says Greaves. “It was something pretty outlandish at the end of a CBP album, to give everyone a a kick in the bollocks, but it was also our way of saying, ‘We do this other thing, by the way!’”

Not just another “thing”, but an entirely box-fresh (but intrinsically rotten) means of expression, JOHNNY THE BOY conjure a claustrophobic cyclone of serrated-edge riffs and bilious crescendos. Like the outer reaches of the Melvins’ back catalogue pumped backwards through a frosty, Bathory-fuelled prism, with marauding D-beats and moments of oppressive melancholy hurled in for extra impact, You offers a mesmerising blend of the familiar and the unknowable. From the imperious, doomy mantras of Endlessly Senseless to the all-out blitzkrieg of Wired, JOHNNY THE BOY’s warped vision is heavy in every sense.

Meanwhile, bursting out from the abrasive, treacly maelstrom of riffs at all manner of bone-snapping angles, Belinda Kordic’s extraordinary screams and howls elevate every song to a higher level of primitive intensity.
“I truly think that Belinda’s vocals are some of the most more visceral, vicious and spiteful I’ve ever heard,” says Greaves. “I love the opening song, Die Already, it’s just a horrible song. I just love when Belinda’s singing ‘You prick!’ or whatever it is. She’s just spitting venom.”

“It’s all Belinda too,” adds Crawford. “It’s all natural. There’s no studio trickery!”

“When I was recording the vocals in Sweden, at the same studio where we recorded most of the vocals for Banefyre, the engineer asked me ‘Why do you sing like that?’” Kordic recalls. “I just said, ‘It’s instead of crying!’ That’s what I do. I let it out that way.”

In keeping with the rapacious, hateful noise that JOHNNY THE BOY whip up, Kordic’s lyrics are also notable for their direct and destructive rhetoric. A collection of incensed diatribes, everything from the demagogue-baiting Die Already to the poetic grief of closer Without You resounds with gruelling emotional clarity. Eschewing the usual underground metal cliches in favour of harrowing, real world concerns, JOHNNY THE BOY are lunging straight for humanity’s jugular (with a little feline representation thrown in for balance).

“The songs all have different meanings,” Kordic explains. “Die Already is about dictators. Crossings is about how no one should have to die alone. The last song (Without You) is about Tigger, our cat. Wired is about being really neurotic. Druh is about Witold Pilecki who was in the Polish resistance in the Second World War. He got caught on purpose, so that he could get into the concentration camp, so see how the prisoners were being treated. There he discovered what was going on with the Jews, the gypsies, the disabled, and he tried to tell the world. He was a real fucking hero.”

Fuelled by decades of devotion to the infernal musical arts, JOHNNY THE BOYbring something unique and undeniable to the table. You screams its defiance and vitality from first to last, while a sense that Greaves, Kordic and Crawford are sharing an act of profound catharsis with the world is unmistakable. Soon, the band will expand into a full live unit, in order to inflict You’s brutal conflagration on the masses and in the flesh. Most importantly, You burns with a ferocity that simply can’t be faked. Equal parts magick, malice and metal therapy JOHNNY THE BOY ignores the rules and burns the fucking house down.

“This is totally new and it’s exciting,” concludes Greaves. “Everything’s an experiment at this point. But we’re doing it because we needed to rediscover the reason why we all make music in the first place. After a long time in the industry, we’re all very jaded and cynical, but now I can’t wait for the first gigs and seeing all the metalheads’ faces when Belinda comes out and starts screaming. This is going to be fucking great.”

UK Alt-Punks, KID KAPICHI, Announce North American Tour Dates Supporting Nothing But Thieves

“Meet KID KAPICHI, Liam Gallagher’s favourite new band…With their provocative political punk-rock, these rising stars from Hastings have been compared to The Streetsand Arctic Monkeys

The Telegraph UK

“If Britain is going to hell in a handcart then KID KAPICHI are the soundtrack”

– Classic Rock/ Louder Sound

“…smart, fearless and reflects a broken and rudderless Brexit Britain.”

– The New European

“An album of our time… ‘Here’s What You Could Have Won’ feels like a trash can rattling wake up call for the present moment.”

– Kerrang!

“If Idles’ diminishing returns and Fontaines D.C.’s stepping out of formation could see them waver as post-punk’s mainstream flag-bearers, KID KAPICHI effectively embracing being a big rock band could make them an obvious choice to pick up the torch with little hassle.” – Soundboard

“…with track titles like ‘Cops & Robbers’ and ‘Smash the Gaff’, it feels like if Guy Ritchie were an album, it would be this.”

- Sian Eleri (Radio One)

UK alt-punk quartet KID KAPICHI will at long last invade North America!

The Hastings-based outfit will play as direct support for breakout English rockers Nothing But Thieves on the North American leg of their upcoming “Welcome To The DCC” World Tour. These new additions are different versions of songs from the original album: a Remix of Radio Oneplaylisted single "Rob The Supermarket" by Bobby Wolfgang – frontman with punk-spirited Blackpool outfit, Strange Bones; stripped back, atmospheric renditions of "Tar Pit" & "Special", plus a live version of "Party At No. 10", the track that first attracted the attention of Liam Gallagher, who was so taken with the sentiment and the song that he invited KK to join him at a charity event at the Royal Albert Hall in London. This rousing, impassioned take on "Party…" was captured live at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill, near the band’s hometown of Hastings.
