DIRKSCHNEIDER & THE OLD GANG - 'Babylon' Is Out Now

What a story! Over the past few years, a charity campaign featuring six prominent musicians for the benefit of artists affected by the coronavirus lockdown has developed into a spectacular project that will undoubtedly cause a sensation. We are talking about Dirkschneider And The Old Gang, DATOG for short, with a line-up whose majority has had a decisive influence on the history of heavy metal over the past four decades.

Udo Dirkschneider was the founder and long-time singer of Accept and, after leaving the band, also led his follow-up bands, U.D.O. and DIRKSCHNEIDER, to international fame. In DATOG he is joined by Peter Baltes (bass, vocals; ACCEPT, DIRKSCHNEIDER), Stefan Kaufmann (guitar; ACCEPT, U.D.O.) and Mathias Dieth (guitar; SiINNER, U.D.O.) as well as Udo's son Sven Dirkschneider (drums; U.D.O., DIRKSCHNEIDER), who has played for his dad for the last ten years. The sixth member of the gang is singer Manuela Bibert, who has not been let off the hook since her great performance on the recording of the U.D.O. orchestra album We Are One in the spring of 2019.

In this constellation, three DATOG singles, (‘Where The Angels Fly’, ‘Face Of A Stranger’ and ‘Every Heart Is Burning’), were created between summer 2020 and fall 2021. This got the train rolling: “The whole thing developed a momentum of its own, that we hadn't expected in this form," Kaufmann looks back somewhat surprised. “After the singles went incredibly viral, fans, record companies, and concert agencies immediately got in touch and wanted to know whether there was more to comewhat the prospects were for a full album?”

The answer is here: Babylon is out now via Reigning Phoenix Music and you should not miss it.
Order, stream or download Babylon here: https://datog.rpm.link/babylon

With a three-singer concept — Dirkschneider, Bibert, Baltes — DATOG delivers a unique mix of vocal profiles that proves to be the band’s unmistakable trademark. “Of course, we didn't even try to split the vocals equally, but carefully analyzed whose voice would fit best for each part,” explains Udo Dirkschneider. The same applies to songwriting, which followed the motto exclusively: The best songs win!

A wise decision, as the twelve songs on Babylon show! Within a clearly defined stylistic direction and alongside magnificent solo performances, especially from exceptional guitarist Mathias “Don” Dieth, the album impresses with great complexity and an enormous wealth of facets.

With Babylon, the German all-star band presents twelve brilliant metal songs which, despite their unusual vocal concept, never degenerate into a Babylonian confusion of voices. Quite the opposite: the album inspires both compositionally and vocally and convinces every sound fetishist with its transparent yet powerful production.

And this is not the end of the journey: the video story of the songs will unfold for all of the album tracks, keeping fans engaged visually and musically until the very last note, not least reminding everyone to give the record one more spin.
Though the album leans into a hard rock side, the band members’ heavy metal foundation shines through, best showcased on the focus track and new video,"Metal Sons".

"Metal Sons" is a tribute to true, original heavy metal: a powerful guitar riff that seems to have been born out of another time period, Udo's usual uncompromising vocals, plus screaming guitar solos and a chorus that will have every heavy metal fan automatically headbanging and shouting along. Thanks to its modern arrangement, the song is nevertheless (or precisely because of this) a musical treat of a very special kind.

About DATOG:

DIRKSCHNEIDER & THE OLD GANG (DATOG) was originally launched in 2020 as a one-off charity project, but quickly developed a momentum of its own and formed into a band consisting of Udo Dirkschneider (vocals; ACCEPT/U.D.O./DIRKSCHNEIDER), Peter Baltes (bass, vocals; ACCEPT/U.D.O./DIRKSCHNEIDER), Stefan Kaufmann (guitar; ACCEPT/U.D.O.), Mathias “Don” Dieth (guitar; SINNER/U.D.O.), Sven Dirkschneider (drums; U.D.O./DIRKSCHNEIDER) and Manuela “Ella” Bibert (vocals). Between 2020 and 2021 their first three singles attracted a lot of attention, whereupon the band wrote more songs and recorded their debut album. With a unique vocal concept of three voices, powerful riffs and stylistic complexity, DATOG combine classic heavy metal with a modern, powerful production.

Resistor Share Video for New Single "MUTT"

Long Island, NY quintet RESISTORAnthony Grambo [vocals], Anthony Conti [guitar], Ian Schneider [bass], Anthony Arce [turntables], and Peter Smith [drums] — channel the cocky bravado of O.G. nu-metal through a prism of 21st century hardcore spiked with DJ squeals and vitriolic spitting.

They share the video for new single "MUTT."

"Lyrically, this track is about the struggles of growing up in a multi-cultural family and being not enough of either end for each individual side," says Schneider. "Being of two different ethnicities, it was always incredibly difficult to navigate the relationship between both sides of the aisle. Never enough of this for one side, never enough of that for the other, and always ending up as the 'mutt' stuck on the wrong side of both."

This is just the first taste of what Resistor have planned in the coming months...

Back in 2020, Conti initially met Grambo at a local skate park. They would regularly scooter and skate together because "the world had ended for a little while," as Conti puts it. Soon, the conversation turned to music. Their shared inspirations ranged from Kublai Khan TX to Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, and Slipknot, and they started to jam together. One by one, they eventually welcomed Smith, Schneider, and Arce to the fold.

Grinding to be heard, 2023's So It Begins EP picked up traction on DSPs, generating over 1 million total streams. However, Resistor really hit the ground running with the follow-up HEADCASE EP in 2025 produced by Randy LeBoeuf [The Amity Affliction, Bad Omens].They canvased North America on tour and performed everywhere from the Gathering of the Juggalos to the Inkcarceration pre-show.

Resistor are bringing a fresh fire to heavy music on their own terms.

"Whatever these songs mean to you is valid," Conti leaves off. "If they make you happy, that’s great. If they get you angry and punching shit, maybe you needed that to. It's open to interpretation. Whether you love it or hate, I just hope it's a sound you've never heard before."

"As a musician, one of the worst things you can do is to be 'middle-of-the-road,'"" concludes Schneider. "Nobody wants to hear the same style over and over again. So, we'd rather be polarizing instead of making everybody feel neutral. This is very special to us."

Indeed, Resistor live outside the neutral zone.

On the heels of being named host of the 59th Annual CMA Awards, Lainey Wilson performed a sold-out show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena last night as part of her extensive Whirlwind World Tour.

Wilson will return to Bridgestone on November 19 for the CMA Awards ceremony, where she is tied as the most-nominated artist with six nominations: Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year (Whirlwind), Single of the Year (“4x4xU”), Song of the Year (“4x4xU”) and Music Video of the Year (“Somewhere Over Laredo”).

The accolades are just the latest in a series of recent milestones for Wilson, who is highlighted on the 2025 TIME100 Next list, featured as the cover star of Southern Living’s November issue (read HERE) and confirmed to headline Stagecoach Festival this spring. Today, she also releases a new version of the holiday classic, “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!,” with Bing Crosby—listen below.

Known for her electric live performances, Wilson will continue her Whirlwind World Tour through this fall including a sold-out show at New York’s Madison Square Garden next Friday, October 10, before embarking on an extensive headline run across Australia and New Zealand next year. Released to overwhelming attention from fans and critics alike, “Somewhere Over Laredo” was the most added song at country radio at impact and earned widespread praise from outlets such as CBS Mornings, Rolling Stone and Billboard, who called it “one of her most commanding, dynamic vocal performances to date, crescendo-ing from a soft-focus, tender vocal, before gradually reaching into her upper register for powerful moments that heighten the song’s emotional acuity.”

“The reigning current standard-bearer for women in country” (Variety), Wilson also won four awards at the 60th ACM Awards this past spring—Entertainer of the Year (her second consecutive win), Female Artist of the Year (her third consecutive win), Album of the Year (Whirlwind) and Artist-Songwriter of the Year—performed during last year’s Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Halftime Show and won two awards at the 58th CMA Awards, where she made her hosting debut alongside Peyton Manning and Luke Bryan. Moreover, Wilson wrote and recorded “Out of Oklahoma” for the Twisters movie and has collaborated with artists such as Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert, Dolly Parton, Post Malone and more. She will also make her feature film acting debut in next year’s adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Reminders of Him, after first acting in Paramount’s hit television series, “Yellowstone.”

SIENA ROOT - Double Live Album 'Made in KuBa Out Now

“Dynamic Root Rock Experience” is still the best term to describe SIENA ROOT’s music, and that's also exactly what the Swedish quartet’s new double live album Made in KuBa is all about. Named after the location of its creation, Jena, Germany’s Kulturbahnhof (short form: KuBa), the follow-up to the band’s previous, highly-acclaimed live document Root Jam (2011) takes off where its predecessor left off in many ways.  Made in KuBa is out now via Perception – a Division of Reigning Phoenix Music.

Recorded during three intimate concert nights in March 2024, the result is, of course, an all-analogue recording which continues the traditional way of capturing the audiophile band’s art. Where many artists would hesitate to bring a full-on tape recorder to a live event, it’s totally given for SIENA ROOT to do so in a no-compromise fashion. Made in KuBa isn’t only another live album but a comprehensive experience in its purest form: no overdubs were added and no tricks were used in the studio afterwards. Once again, the songs you can hear are strictly what’s played and bring the energy all the way from the stage to the speakers of the Swede’s fans. The outfit’s much-loved jams are there, lots of improvisation as well as the whole spectra from light to shade, and to ensure the all-analogue quality control, sound engineer Ove Noring, who’s been working with the band all the way since 2006’s Kaleidoscope, was brought in as tape operator to record SIENA ROOT’s shows at the iconic KuBa venue.

So what’s new? In order to make Made In KuBa no simple repetition of their Root Jam concept though, SIENA ROOT went for a bunch of refreshing ideas with the first one being the scenery. As mentioned, the band travelled all the way to Jena this time, where they found the perfect surroundings at Kulturbahnhof. “We couldn’t have been happier: KuBa was exactly the place to be after we had experienced countless memorable concerts there throughout the years,” they recall. While the musical spine of SIENA ROOT is a quartet -- consisting of long-time and founding members Sam Riffer (bass) and Love Forsberg (drums & percussion), completed by Zubaida Solid (vocals & keys) and Johan Borgström (guitars), who both joined their ranks after the release of Root Jam -- they were also supported by two talented guests for a number of songs to make this special occasion more unique: long-time brother in arms Erik Peterson (keys) and Lisa Isaksson (flute). Additionally, the forthcoming opus consists of songs from the group’s entire catalogue which aren’t featured songs on Root Jam at all, and to thank their loyal fans, SIENA ROOT even involved them in creating the set list. They add: “We knew that not each and every fan from around the world would be able to witness these historic nights, that’s why we decided to have them included by influencing the Made In KuBa track listing.”

In the end, Made In KuBa includes twelve wisely picked tracks which can be enjoyed from October 3, 2025 - brought to the world through PERCEPTION. And it’ll be available in various formats: CD, digital, and - most importantly - vinyl. A version which has always been a crucial factor throughout SIENA ROOT’s career, who even pressed their 2004 debut album A New Day Dawning on the ‘black gold’ when the returning vinyl boom was still in the distant future. The band prefer the traditional way of listening and therefore took extra-care of its execution. Mastered at half-speed, SIENA ROOT technically reflect on the old days in this case. They conclude: “Half-speed mastering’ is a trick of the past that the vinyl junkies out there should be familiar with. It’s just a very delicate yet complicated process of cutting that makes “Made In KuBa” an even more three-dimensional listening pleasure for both you and us!” Enough said: now it's the world's turn to enjoy and to catch the group live during their supporting “Double Live Release Tour” across Europe in October 2025, if you like what you hear!

Enter LORE’s “Nightwere Club” — Debut EP “Prologue” Out Now!

Avant-garde duo LORE have today unveiled their debut EP, "Prologue", after a mysterious rollout of cryptic teasers and elusive visuals that kept half of the duo cloaked in anonymity. Arriving alongside the EP, their brand new single, "Nightwere Club" pushes their heaviest and most experimental sound yet - melding a high-energy dance beat, airy soprano vocals, and bursts of unrestrained screams. Listen to the brand new EP HERE and check out the brand new video for "Nightwere Club" below.

Hot on the heels of their debut single, "Senpai" ft. Isaac Wilson of Dwellings, which premiered with a fully animated video Crunchyroll, and their second single, "Starseeker" ft. Properties of Nature, the debut EP successfully introduces the enigmatic world of LORE. Bristling with imaginative textures, meticulously crafted visuals, and an ever-present sense of curiosity, "Prologue" transforms the band's signature flair for mystery into a concept-driven journey packed with tonal shifts, collaborations, and surrealist pop sensibilities.

Speaking from the heart behind the EP and the project's ongoing sense of mystery, Jay Christian and The Frog share:

"Prologue is the opening page of our story a world of curiosity, chaos, and wonder that we’ve only just begun to reveal. This EP means so much to us, and we’re beyond grateful to finally share it with you. Thank you for listening, supporting, and giving life to this music we couldn’t have made it without you."

Formed earlier this year, LORE is the creation of Jay Christian and the Frog, a mysterious entity who remains shrouded in anonymity. Born entirely online, the project emerged from a conscious decision to cast aside ego and pretense in pursuit of something real. LORE's debut EP, "Prologue", serves as a proper introduction to the band's rich world of storytelling and animated surrealism.

Be sure to stay tuned for more LORE news coming soon.

ABOUT LORE

LORE is a boundary-pushing musical project formed in early 2025, forged entirely through online collaboration. United by their roots in post-hardcore and a deep passion for storytelling, the band have quickly built a powerful creative bond that transcends distance.

Shaped by their years in two cult-followed bands, LORE's founders carry forward an ethos of community, connection, and inclusivity as they enter the era of the band's debut EP, "Prologue". Their mission is simple, but vital: to tell unforgettable stories through music while cultivating a space with no gatekeeping, and no ego. Just honest art and love for the craft.

LORE isn't just about sound, but about meaning. It's music for those who want to feel, to belong, and to find something deeper within the noise.

LORE’s debut EP, “Prologue”, is available on all major streaming platforms now.

CYNIC Releases 'Focus: The Official Drum and Bass Tracks,' Out TODAY via Bandcamp

CYNIC will release 'Focus, The Official Drum and Bass Tracks' on Friday, October 3, exclusively on Bandcamp. For the first time, fans can hear Sean Malone’s bass and Sean Reinert’s drums in complete isolation from the band’s landmark era. This collection offers an intimate listen into the rhythmic heart of Cynic, revealing the nuance, interplay, and precision that shaped the group’s sound. Listen Below.

CYNIC guitarist and founding member Paul Masvidal comments, "These tracks let you sit inside what feels like an intimate conversation between two master musicians. Malone and Reinert created a foundation that remains vividly alive, existing in its own realm. This release honors their legacy and offers a glimpse into the heartbeat that carried Focus. And for drummers and bass players out there, it is a master class in progressive metal rhythm section work from true visionaries.”

'Focus' is the debut album by American progressive death metal band Cynic, released in 1993. It is renowned for its innovative blend of technical death metal with jazz fusion elements, featuring complex time signatures, philosophical lyrics, and prominent use of vocoder effects on the vocals. The album is considered a landmark in progressive metal, influencing countless bands with its unique sound and intricate musicianship.

This Friday's launch is taking place on Bandcamp Friday, an artist- driven initiative that began in March of 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic when the shuttering of venues led to a loss of vital tour revenue for artists. Since then, Bandcamp Fridays—on which Bandcamp waives its revenue share and passes the funds directly to artists & labels—has resulted in millions of fans paying over $120 million directly to labels and musicians they love. In addition to helping artists pay the rent, or fund album recordings and tours, Bandcamp Fridays have also become a beacon for artists and record labels looking to raise awareness for causes or raise money for charities.

Remember The Monsters X Orgy Unleash "System Override," a Furious Anthem About a World on the Brink of Collapse

"SYSTEM OVERRIDE" paints a picture of a collapsing society through the lens of personal disillusionment and collective struggle. At its core, it’s about mistrust, division, and the breakdown of systems, whether political, social, or spiritual, that once promised stability but now only deliver emptiness and control.

The recurring imagery of black & white versus color reflects the loss of hope, imagination, and nuance in a world consumed by conflict and polarization. Where once there may have been shades of possibility, everything now feels rigid, divided, and lifeless. The line “Do you dream in color?” becomes a desperate plea for vision, empathy, and renewal in a society that has grown numb and mechanical.

Themes of false leadership and hypocrisy surface throughout: leaders speak of greatness while ignoring suffering, strength is proclaimed while people are oppressed, and overlords exploit the weak.

The climax comes with the declaration of

“SYSTEM OVERRIDE” and the call for a reset. This is an acknowledgment that the current way of living is unsustainable, and only by breaking down the corrupted system can something new and meaningful rise from the ruins.

Overall, "SYSTEM OVERRIDE" conveys both rage and despair, but beneath its bleakness lies a drive for transformation. A recognition that although the present feels hopeless, change is inevitable, and necessary.

ABOUT THE BAND:

Remember the Monsters is a genre-blending modern rock band known for cinematic soundscapes, emotional intensity, and hard-hitting anthems. Since their 2016 debut, the bands founder Ashten Banks has evolved the group through lineup changes and creative reinvention, most recently joining forces with vocalist Andrew de Neef (Actual Villains, Close to Home) and legendary drummer Elias Mallin, studio & touring drummer with acts like Filter, Noah Cyrus, and Kesha & more.

Collaborating with producer Matt Good (Asking Alexandria, Hollywood Undead), the band has released standout covers and originals including “Mercy” (ft. NERV), “Haunted” (ft. From First to Last), and “Hostage” (ft. Paul Bartolome).

Most recently, the band is poised to release two of their most dynamic songs to date. Starting with “SYSTEM OVERRIDE” which features Jay Gordon from ORGY and followed by their most aggressive and intense single & music video to date “INFECTED” which was co-written with former Asking Alexandria guitarist Ben Bruce

Avatar Show Their "Death And Glitz" in New Video

The heavy metal visionaries collectively known as AVATAR — vocalist Johannes Eckerström, guitarists Jonas Jarlsby and Tim Öhrström, bassist Henrik Sandelin, and drummer John Alfredsson — previously announced the thoroughly fitting October 31 release of their latest masterwork Don't Go in the Forest. Pre-save it here.

Today, the band shares the visuazlier for the new single "Death And Glitz." Watch it below

Eckerström states, ":Death and Glitz' is a song about perversion and detachment. A homeless, young runaway collapses and dies on a dancefloor. The crime scene tape becomes a red velvet rope. The investigator's camera flashes like paparazzi on the red carpet. We love her for dying. Now, she's perfect. Obedient. Anything you want."

He continues. "The true crime genre is as sick as the sickest goregrind band you've ever heard. Its popularity and the form in which it's being consumed, as a choice between Mickey Mouse and hospital dramas, reveals a darkness. The best ones are when it's someone young and attractive. A couple goes hiking. Only the man returns. What do we project on this very real person's very real tragedy? Do we see ourselves, with a strange envy for being so desired? Do we see a canvas on which we can paint the perfect future, if we were there to make it right? Do we completely dehumanize the victim and those who lost her, obsessed with the puzzle? No matter the reason, it is clear that no one is more obedient than the dead. People simply like it when death has a nice rack."

Regarding the album, Eckerström offers, "The secret ingredient is that we still feel like we're just getting started. Don't Go In The Forest is an album filled to the brim with stuff we've never done before. It's all songs and concepts we haven't been close to touch until now. The mind is wild and we have lost ourselves in the darkest woods, filled with memories, and fantasies. Forbidden thoughts that must be spoken."

He concludes, "It would have been impossible to make this album at any other time than now. That's all we ever wanted, and I think you'll find it's all you ever wanted too."

Avatar have gone from strength to strength over the past several years. There's the critically acclaimed, 2023-released album Dance Devil Dance, which included their first #1 at Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay, "The Dirt I'm Buried In." There have been scores of sold-out headline shows across the globe, and an actual fossil named after them. The list goes on and on.

But the past is the past and the future is, well, dark in the best possible way and that's JUST how Avatar like it!

Avatar will spend the foreseeable future (if not forever) on the road — with forthcoming tours supporting Iron Maiden and Metallica, along with the band's biggest show EVER in Mexico City. See below for a complete rundown of the band's planned tour activity for the next two years.

Avatar show no signs of pausing to take a breath in their quest for absolute world domination — much less stopping.

VESSELES Announces New Album Home and Unveils Single “Scriptures Etched Into the Mind’s Pillars”

Symphonic black metal project VESSELES announces the release of its sophomore full-length album Home, arriving January 16th, alongside the unveiling of the record’s seventh track, “Scriptures Etched Into the Mind’s Pillars.”

“Scriptures Etched Into the Mind’s Pillars” is an ode to the grand tradition of classic symphonic black metal. It is a vehement composition that grapples with the inner fortresses we build to protect ourselves, only to find them transformed into prisons. As relentless as it is majestic, the song marks a lyrical turning point: moving away from searching for solace in one’s origins toward confronting the distress of internal struggle and the elusive quest for peace.

Founded as a personal vessel for Valira, a demon entity navigating existence within the human world, VESSELES fuses cinematic scale with blackened ferocity. Homeexpands upon the project’s identity-driven narrative, weaving a mythos of belonging, alienation, and ultimate reclamation of power. The album is as much about survival as it is about transcendence, an unflinching exploration of self through sound.

Home is the sound of returning to a place you’ve never truly known,” says Valira.

With its blend of sweeping orchestration, blistering aggression, and emotional weight, Home establishes VESSELES as one of the most uncompromising voices in contemporary symphonic black metal.

Pre-order Homehttps://vesseles.myshopify.com/

Listen to "Scriptures Etched Into the Mind's PIlars" Below.

About VESSELES:
Founded in 2023, VESSELES is the sonic vessel through which Valira speaks the language of her origins. As composer, orchestrator, and architect, she crafts bleak, incantatory soundscapes that fuse serrated guitars with haunted symphonic textures. Her voice, at once seething and spectral, now rises with increasing clarity, layered across both backing and lead roles in studio and on stage. This is not performance. It is possession. Through sound, she casts off the human shell and steps fully into her true form: demon, exile, survivor. VESSELES unveiled the debut EP I Am A Demon in 2024, a liturgy of identity dysphoria, rage, and revelation. "Eternally Within Us" follows the recently released 2025 single, "Flesh Throne".

Art Rock Trio Our Oceans Share "Leave Me Be" Video

Blending singer/songwriter sensibilities with modern progressive rock elements, Our Oceans' music resonates with listeners who seek a soul-stirring experience, offering both catharsis and hope.

Today, the power trio, featuring singer and guitarist Tymon Kruidenier and his former Exivious bandmates — bassist Robin Zielhorst and drummer Yuma van Eekelen — have released the video for "Leave Me Be." The song is the third single off the new studio album Right Here, Right Now, due out released on October 24 via Long Branch Records.

Watch the "Leave Me Be" music video Below

Stream the single and pre-order the album here

"One of my favorite songs on the album," comments band leader Kruidenier. "It’s built on a bass line Robin originally wrote for Motherly Flame on our last record but never ended up using for that song. Conceptually, this is one of the darkest songs on the album, rooted in childhood trauma — something that’s clearly reflected in both the lyrics and the unsettling vibe of the music. I also think it's one of our more original compositions. From the ominous, hypnotic bass groove to the Middle Eastern-inspired motifs, and finally, the dual drum/guitar solo, it's a song that still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it."

On their new album, Right Here, Right Now, Our Oceans unveil a brighter, more exhilarating sonic landscape while maintaining the evocative emotional depth that has become their hallmark. Inspired by the "bright quality of the now," the band from the Netherlands crafts a richly layered musical journey filled with lush harmonies and uplifting atmospheres. The album captures the vibrancy of the present moment, blending intricate musicianship with an infectious sense of optimism.

"I'm incredibly proud of that album, but it's a bit of a bitter pill to swallow," says Kruidenier. "This time around, I also felt the need to return to the creative philosophy behind the first Our Oceans album: Simply letting things flow. Instead of steering the process or clinging to preconceived ideas of what the music should be, I wanted to trust in an open and unrestricted creative approach, allowing the songs to take shape naturally. It all started with the chorus for what became the album's first track, 'Golden Rain.' From there, everything came together in what felt like one effortless flow state that lasted for a month or two. I think this resulted in a collection of songs that feel balanced and cohesive, yet diverse and playful."

OUR OCEANS ARE:
Tymon Kruidenier — Vocals +Guitars
Robin Zielhorst — Bass
Yuma van Eekelen — Drums

San Francisco's OCTAVIAN WINTERS unleash dark and primal 'Saints of Absolution'

San Francisco post-punk outfit Octavian Winters presents 'Saints Of Absolution'a dark and rich teaser of their debut album, out in early 2026 via Stratis Capta Records. Marrying their hallmark ethereal sound with a classic death rock vibe, this dark and primal offering follows the lead track 'Hermine'. Both singles accompanied by short films by Bay Area producer David Kruschke.

Guitarist Stephan Salit (Thrill of The Pull) channels his Eastern roots with a guitar motif that circles like a hypnotic dance, over a tribal groove by bassist Jay Denton and drummer Randy Gzebb (Thrill of The Pull, Love Club), which undulates below. Mesmerizing vocals by Ria Aursjoen (AURSJOEN) enter like temple incense wafting atop of the music - sinister and confessional, before building to a wild visceral delivery as the song builds to its intense ending.

"This song 'Saints of Absolution' is about false idols, on two levels. The broader level, and the one we most often think of when we think of the idea of false idols, is about people attaching to negative ideologies that subvert our better natures, and the toxic swamp that lies down that path. The other level is the individual, and the poison of envy, hatred and spreading gossip behind others' backs -- often serious lies that can be very damaging to people's lives," says Ria Aursjoen.

"This world is full of enough horror without adding to it; although the lyrics are a little darker than my usual style, the intent is to make people think, to urge us all to not lose sight of our common humanity."

'Saints of Absolution' was produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by the iconic William Faith (The Bellwether Syndicate, Faith & the Muse, Christian Death) at 13 Studio in Chicago.

"This is another one that I originally intended to go one way, but then went another. I had the two main themes with the dissonance I desired when William made a suggestion that turned into the break that Ria takes flight over! What a glorious din," says guitarist Stephan Salit.

Drummer Randy Gzebb adds, "I've always been drawn to playing tom grooves that give the song a darker more primal feel".

Formed in 2022, Octavian Winters profess a visceral ethereal sound with haunting textures, channeling half-remembered stories from an indifferent metropolis and lunar energy. This newest single confirms the band's well-earned reputation for weaving multiple stylistic influences together into a sonic tapestry that is altogether unique and identifiably their own.

Now critically acclaimed, the band gained a solid reputation with their 2023 debut EP 'The Line or Curve', and 2024's 'Nebula / Velveteen' collaboration with Mark Pistel (Consolidated, Meat Beat Manifesto), their tightly crafted songs running the gamut from the ethereal to the dark and driving. This new offering, 'Hermine', visits those harder edges.

Following their recent appearance at A Murder of Crows Festival in New York, West coast fans will now be treated to their performance at Bar Sinister in Los Angeles on October 31 for their legendary Ghostly Halloween Ball.

'Saints of Absolution' is out now, available everywhere digitally, including Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp.  Tickets for their L.A. show can be ordered at  https://octavianwinters.com/shows

Brutal Surf-Death Metal Band STILLBIRTH Release New Single, "Throne Of Bones", Off Of Upcoming Concept Album 'Survival Protocol'

German brutal-surf-death-party metal band STILLBIRTH leave a trail of bloodshed in their wake with their latest single "Throne Of Bones", off of their upcoming concept album, Survival Protocol. STILLBIRTH will unleash Survival Protocol on October 31st via rising metal label Reigning Phoenix Music. The album is the follow-up to their critically acclaimed Homo Deus, which was released in 2023.

"Throne Of Bones" kicks off with a towering drum groove and ominous guitar riffs. Monstrously guttural vocals dominate the soundscape, calling forth a tale of apocalyptic despair. The rhythmic chorus provides some order among the chaos, but it isn't long before all hell breaks loose once again with a burst of pig squeals and punchy riffs. Though a groovy rhythm pervades the music, STILLBIRTH are determined to keep their listeners on their toes, punctuating the flow of the song with more extreme elements.

Survival Protocol is a concept album that tells the story of an unknown hero surviving a nuclear apocalypse. The narrative began on the album Annihilation of Mankind and now reaches its conclusion on Survival Protocol. It picks up where Homo Deus left off: the true creator descends from the skies, and the epic battle for planetary dominance begins. Humanity is nearly wiped out, with a handful of survivors managing to escape into space. After a long journey, they discover a habitable planet and begin to colonize it. The events of this journey are told across the tracks of Survival Protocol.

STILLBIRTH is a slamming death metal force from Hagen, Germany, known for their chaotic live shows, unrelenting brutality, and wild blend of Death Metal, Grindcore, Deathcore, and Slam. Since 1999, the band has been obliterating venues and festivals worldwide with an extreme sound fueled by filthy grooves, blast beats, and a tongue-in-cheek attitude that’s equal parts destruction and party.

Founded by guitarist-turned-vocalist Lukas Swiaczny, STILLBIRTH quickly gained a cult following with their 2002 debut Happy Stillbirth Party. After a short hiatus from 2003 to 2005, the band came roaring back, contributing to international split releases and building a reputation across Europe. Their sophomore effort, Plakative Aggressionen (2009), led to their first Eastern European tour and set the tone for a relentless schedule of releases and performances.

By 2011, Endgame Is Near expanded their reach, earning them a spot on their first U.S. tour. STILLBIRTH's 2015 album Global Error marked a high point, with back-to-back tours across the U.S. and Europe. Their signing to Unique Leader Records saw them level up again with Annihilation of Mankind (2018), landing major festival appearances and a tour through Asia.

In 2019, they revisited their roots with Back to the Stoned Age, re-recording fan favorites with updated production and guest vocals. The follow-up, Revive the Throne (2020), doubled down on brutality with dual basses, massive grooves, and razor-sharp production—setting a new bar for heaviness in their discography.

Tragedy struck in 2021 with the passing of bassist and engineer Dominik “Pumpa” Koenig. His legacy lives on in the band’s music and spirit. After signing to Distortion Music Group in 2022, STILLBIRTH dropped Homo Deus in 2023, toured Europe with KATAKLYSM and FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, and crushed stages at Summer Breeze, Party.San, and Tolminator.

Now, STILLBIRTH is poised to unleash their ninth full-length, Survival Protocol, on October 31st, a dystopian concept album promising their most refined yet devastating sound to date.

STILLBIRTH is a party at the edge of the apocalypse. Total madness guaranteed!

STILLBIRTH IS:

  • Lukas Swiaczny – Vocals

  • Martin Grupe – Drums

  • Lukas Kaminski – Bass

  • Leonard Thoma – Guitar

  • Szymon Skiba – Guitar

Defences Return With Video for New Modern Metal Banger "Lithium Kiss"

Defences will be your new favorite alternative metal band.

Known for an eclectic mix of synth-heavy melodies and crushing riffs, fronted by the sultry and androgynous tones of singer Cherry Duesbury, Defences offer their next level take on metalcore. Over 10 years, two EPs ,and three LPs, the underlying theme of the necessity for introspection, self-reflection, and finding your inner strength bears strong. It's "self-acceptance-core" at its finest.

Today, the Hertfordshire, UK-based band returns with the video for the new single "Lithium Kiss."

"The inspiration for 'Lithium Kiss' came from one of our members' personal experience being prescribed the mood-stabilizer Lithium for a couple of years, and the frustrations and difficulties that came along with the benefits," comment Defences. "When treatment stopped, rather than feeling like before, there was instead a feeling of being almost hyper-rational, rather than feeling like they could react instinctively and naturally. 'Lithium Kiss' is NOT about not taking your medication and taking care of yourself and we would never want it to come across that way. It's instead a crystallization of a paranoia that we are consumed by illness and treatment, adversity, and reconciliation. The 'Lithium Kiss' is our way of referring to this relationship — the symbiotic necessity for difficulty to bring about individual growth, whilst ensuring that it does not come to consume you."

Morgan Wallen Walks Away from Wreckage in New “I Got Better” Music Video

On the heels of concluding his 2025 I’m The Problem Tour on September 13 in Edmonton, Alberta, Morgan Wallen has notched another top five-and-climbing single at Country radio with “I Got Better,” the second-of-37 tracks on his blockbuster fourth studio album, I’m The Problem. Today, the 19-time Billboard Music Award winner released the official music video for the single he dubbed his “most personal” upon its May 16 release. Watch Below.

Co-written by Wallen alongside Michael Hardy, Chase McGill, Blake Pendergrass, Ernest Keith Smith and Ryan Vojtesak, “I Got Better” comes to life on screen under the direction of Justin Clough. The cinematic video uses a car accident as a metaphor for the wreckage of a relationship. The storyline follows Wallen as he walks away from the crash, his wounds gradually beginning to heal as he does so.

Wallen first teased the video’s creative clad in bloodied attire via a social media post on September 3 during a week off on tour, simply captioning, “Interesting bye week lol”.

I’m The Problem spent 12 non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200 albums chart and 13 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart. It also became Wallen’s first album to debut at No. 1 on the UK Official Charts – making him one of only five artists to debut at summit with a country album. The project has already yielded four No. 1’s at Country radio, including the title track, which remained at No. 1 for eight weeks.

The project debuted at No. 1 in seven countries upon release. In Australia, I’m The Problem became the longest-running No. 1 album by a country artist in 10 years, with three consecutive weeks atop the ARIA albums chart, while “What I Want (feat. Tate McRae)” spent five weeks at No. 1 on Australia’s Country Airplay chart.

About Morgan Wallen:
Morgan Wallen sets the pace in, and beyond, country music – with Billboard calling him “one of the biggest stars in the music world right now” and The New Yorker adding “[he’s] popular on a scale that seems to circumvent genre entirely.” With 19 No. 1 singles at Country radio, 19 Billboard Music Awards to-date, 198 weeks spent atop Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart (the most in country music history), the highest selling country tour under his belt and more, Wallen has propelled country music to a global level in less than five years.

Wallen’s fourth studio album, I’m The Problem, available now via Big Loud / Mercury, debuted at No. 1 globally across seven countries; while his preceding albums – Dangerous: The Double Album and One Thing At A Time – have remained in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart for more than 100 weeks each, making him the first artist ever to achieve that feat. I’m The Problem – which Hits Daily Double observes is “a 37-song cycle of self-reckoning” – has already yielded four No. 1’s at Country radio, including the title track, which remained at No. 1 for eight weeks. Wallen also broke his own record for the most simultaneous entries in Billboard Hot 100 History, with 37 songs charting on release week.

Wallen’s 20-stadium-show 2025 I’m the Problem Tour recently concluded in Edmonton, Alberta. In addition to his 20 stadium-plays, Wallen held his inaugural, personally-curated and multi-genre Sand In My Boots Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama in May. He also performed an intimate album release show at The Roundhouse in London.

Wallen donates a portion of every ticket sold to his Morgan Wallen Foundation — which supports youth music and athletic programs and gives communities access to essentials in times of crisis. More at MorganWallen.com.

Alt-pop artist Celeste Corsano presents mesmerizing single 'XS', where size counts

Alternative pop artist Celeste Corsano has released her new single 'XS' via Magic Door Record Label. Conveying feelings of insecurity, body image issues, and the pressure for perfection and success, often driven by media and external standards, she uses the double meaning of "XS" (extra small) sizes and "excess" success. With a sound wrapped in analogue perfection, Corsano grapples with the cycle of comparison and the fleeting nature of achieving an "industry standard" of happiness.

Based in Milford, Pennsylvania (on the border with New Jersey), Corsano once again made the short trip to Magic Door Recording Studio in Montclair, NJ to work with Ray Ketchem (Guided by Voices, Elk City, Gramercy Arms, Luna, Crash Harmony), who produced, recorded, mixed and mastered this release. Recalling The Cars and Kate Bush, 'XS' appears on the trail of three stunning singles - 'Stuck', 'Nightbird'and 'Sunlight Gazing'.

"XS is about feeling like an outsider and trying to fit in, insecurities about body image and the trap of perfection.  These mindsets come from my own insecurities based on my personal experiences, examples of women I've seen growing up and by outside sources such as the media and the entertainment industry," says Celeste Corsano.

"The lyrics "XS" and "XXS" come from the clothing tags that I often fit into and the sort of shallow and fleeting satisfaction that I feel when I do...silly and kind of sad, but true.  But there are other meanings.  I'm comparing myself to other peoples' success and I feel like I don't measure up".

This song features famed guitarist James Mastro (The Bongos, Mott the Hoople, Ian Hunter, Patti Smith, John Cale), Ray Ketchem (Guided by Voices, Elk City, Gramercy Arms, Luna, Crash Harmony) on drums and synths, and David Nagler (Nova Social, Joan Baez, Aaron Neville, Rosanne Cash, Yo La Tengo) on bass.

"XS" begins with a light pop feel, but by the end develops an ominous tone that is highlighted fantastically with Ray Ketchem's tribal drumming and cymbal splashes and James Mastro's dark chord play. The creative production and analog synthesizers also enhance its primal feel; as if I am grappling in the wilderness of these thoughts of mine and singing with a troubled sarcasm which I feel reveals my true feelings about the bondage or cycle of comparison that we can all get into," says Corsano.

"Feeling we have achieved the "industry standard" of whatever it is we are trying to achieve - be it body size, our image in our creative expression, or success in social circles, perhaps, but then saying, “Well, have I reached it? Am I now in the perfect spot of happiness?” We all know how transitory this can be and the ambivalence that may set in after that high wears off."

Corsano's music blends poetic lyricism with adventurous arrangements, unexpected rhythms and a distinct emotional range -- from ethereal and moody to playful and bold. With a natural use of mixed meters and layered vocal timbres, her fearless approach to storytelling conveys a deeper truth. With a simple unassuming style, there's a disarming honesty in her work that feels deeply personal, yet speaks to something we all feel. Revealing a vulnerability that is both deeply personal and strikingly relatable, her sparse, almost childlike vocals amplify its impact.

From a musical family, Celeste is inspired by her brothers - Latin roots musician Tony Corsano and percussionist Chris Corsano (Björk, Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore). Corsano began in NYC's live music scene, drawing inspiration from punk and new wave while also writing poetry and studying art. After initially performing Celtic and Bluegrass music, she evolved into a songwriter. She also honed her ear during countless studio sessions with her ex-husband, producer Brad Morrison (and founder of Absolute A-Go-Go Records), working with notable artists like Phish, the Figgs and Spiral Jetty.

'XS' is out now, available from fine online music platforms, including Bandcamp, where her latest singles 'Stuck', 'Sunlight Gazing' and 'Nightbird' can also be found.

EQUILIBRIUM - Announce New Album Equinox + Release Single/Video 'I'll Be Thunder'

Cinematic, folk-metal trailblazers Equilibrium are thrilled to announce that their new studio album, Equinox, will be released on November 28th via Nuclear Blast Records. Today they've also released firey new single 'I'll Be Thunder' accompanied by a raw, earthy performance video.

Equilibrium commented:
"'I'll Be Thunder' is a very impulsive song that shows the experimental and uncompromising side of Equilibrium. Therefore we tried to emphasise this with a unique, archaic performance video. The whole visual concept, set design and costumes have been hand crafted by Jessica Rösch again. I love this song, because while the notes of it came intuitively to my mind, the lyrics are about self-empowerment, breaking free from limitations, and embracing one’s true strength and authenticity.
It is also the perfect moment to announce our upcoming album "Equinox", which is all about authenticity, reconnection with and rediscovering our own art. It took a long time to go through this process since a lot has happened throughout the last few years in the history of Equilibrium. It represents the bright and dark side of our music and we can't wait to share the whole thing with the world and enlighten this new chapter. The album contains all the cinematic, folky, harsh and soft elements an Equilibrium album should have."

About EQUILIBRIUM:

The world is spinning faster these days. Chaos, division and destruction hang heavy in the air. But music has long been humanity’s most vital defense against the turbulent tides of time. A band whose very name is a plea for balance and unity, Equilibrium have been making life-affirming music for nearly 25 years, and as they return after a lengthy hiatus, the German legends are more committed than ever to spreading some positivity and hope to the masses.

As they prepare to release their seventh and greatest album to date, the mighty Equinox, creative mainstays René Berthiaume and Jessica Rösch stand proudly at the forefront of modern metal, ushering in an inspirational new era. With a brand new singer, Fabian Getto, leading the charge, Equinox is this band’s most distinctive and powerful statement to date.

Equinox showcases a band in full control of their sonic and spiritual world, with songs that bring their cherished trademarks and authentic instrumentation together with new technology, electronic elements and giant, stirring melodies that rip from the speakers like proclamations from ancient gods. From the joyous rush of recent singles 'Gnosis' and the melo-death inspired 'Bloodwood', to the effortless, cross-pollinated mastery of 'Earth Tongue', 'Legends' and the show-stopping 'Nexus', Equilibrium have never sounded more potent or passionate.

Equinox was recorded and produced by Equilibrium themselves, with some significant help from an assortment of guest musicians – including ex-Eluveitie violinist Shir-Ran Yinon and members of Dutch Viking metal band Heidevolk- and particularly from studio guru and multi-instrumentalist Danny McCook, who oversaw the album’s mixing process.

Inspired by their experiences with other creatives, Equilibrium have also made the decision to embrace authenticity in every aspect of their art. Equinox is adorned with artwork created by Jessica Rösch with her own hands and without any input from A.I. or any other technology. The end result is stunning and speaks volumes about this band’s desire to keep things real.

In turbulent times, real art keeps us all grounded in the things that really matter. Equinox is a statement of intent from a band reborn. Equilibrium have made great music in the past, but never with this much fire and focus. Brimming with smart ideas, anthemic melodies and crushing, state-of-the-art modern metal with an organic, folk-fuelled twist, it kicks open this new chapter in the band’s story with an exhilarating, heartfelt flourish.

Paleface Swiss & Stick To Your Guns Drop Searing Picasso-Inspired Track "Instrument of War"

After tearing through a sold-out U.S. tour that moved over 35,000 tickets earlier this year, Switzerland’s heaviest export Paleface Swiss reunite with tour mates, Stick To Your Guns for the release of brand new banger, “Instrument of War”, a fierce, unflinching anthem born in green rooms and tour buses, now fully realized as both a sonic statement and a rallying cry. Watch the official music video Below and stream the track HERE.

Written mid-tour during rare moments of quiet, the song captures the visceral connection between Stick To Your Guns vocalist, Jesse Barnett and Paleface Swiss frontman Marc “Zelli” Zellweger, who bonded over shared convictions, distorted guitars, and the Pablo Picasso quote that gave the track its name. “No, painting is not done to decorate apartments. It is an instrument of war,” the quote begins—“for attack and defense against the enemy.” That sentiment—art as weapon, art as armor—became the foundation for both the track and its video, directed by artistic director and co-manager Kriss Jakob, and produced by co-manager Marco Bayati with a crushing final mix from longtime collaborator Florent Salfati (Landmvrks).

In a joint statement, Zelli and Jesse share

“No, painting is not done to decorate apartments. It is an instrument of war for attack and defense against the enemy. I felt like we both relate to this. Our music isn’t just some shit to put on in the background. It’s something real that comes from a real place and it’s meant to attack the things that divide us and defend all the things that bring us together.”

In keeping with the ethos of the track's inspiration, 100% of proceeds fromInstrument of Warwill be donated to Doctors Without Borders, supporting their emergency medical work in conflict zones around the world. A limited edition Instrument of War charity shirt is also available now at Palefaceswiss.com, with all profits going directly to the organization.

Zelli and Jesse continue

“Paleface Swiss has generally avoided taking explicit political positions—especially given how complex things are today. But Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) provides care to people affected by conflict, disease outbreaks, natural and human-made disasters, and mental health crises. That kind of direct, human-first action is something we deeply respect.”

“That said, both Stick To Your Guns and Paleface Swiss share clear values. As we mentioned, we stand for what’s right—whether that means supporting mental health (a core focus for Paleface Swiss) or speaking out against oppression and violence. For those who know our bands, this song already carries those messages. That’s why it felt like the right vehicle for something bigger—and why it made sense to use it to give back.”

Known for their incomparable live performances and fearless approach to intense and vulnerable topics, Paleface Swiss has built a reputation as one of the most vital, unfiltered, and rapidly rising forces in the world of modern metal today. With their latest album, Cursed, Paleface Swiss took listeners into their darkest, most intricate, and artistically diverse chapter yet, combining their trademark Nu-Core heaviness with raw vulnerability, a rare and special combination for a band within their genre. The album charted at #17 globally on Spotify, #3 in the U.S., and #1 in the UK—quickly followed by Cursed: The Complete Edition.

The album's success kicked off a year of career-defining momentum for Paleface Swiss that included back-to-back sellout tours across Europe & the UK, North America, multiple festival performances and their first ever tour of Australia. Refusing to rest on their laurels, Paleface Swiss will begin 2026 with their biggest tour of Europe and the UK yet and will be heading back to the US in May to play Sonic Temple Festival.

Whether “Instrument of War” makes its way into the Paleface Swiss live set at their upcoming shows remains to be seen, but with Stick To Your Guns and Static Dress joining them across Europe and the UK next year, every night promises to be a masterclass in the future of modern metal.

ABOUT PALEFACE SWISS

Since their debut Chapter 3: The Last Selection in 2020, Paleface Swiss have risen from underground darlings to global heavyweights in the world of metal. With explosive riffs, punishing beatdowns, a brutally heavy rhythm section, and frontman Zelli’s signature vocal savagery, the band quickly gained momentum—landing four breakout tracks on Spotify’s Heavy Beatdown playlist Their 2022 follow-up Fear & Dagger pushed even further, earning praise for its emotional weight and unflinching heaviness, with standout reviews from Metal Injection, New Transcendence, and Wall of Sound. Singles like “The Orphan,” “Dead Man’s Diary” (feat. LANDMVRKS' Florent Salfati), and “My Grave / Lay with Me” solidified their place among the new wave of deathcore’s most innovative acts.

In the years that followed, Paleface Swiss took their chaos on the road—touring with Body Snatcher, Counterparts, and The Ghost Inside, and leveling festival stages from Sick New World to Hellfest. Their live reputation exploded, converting crowds with a show that fuses unrelenting brutality and raw vulnerability. Between headline tours and viral fan demand, they released standalone anthems “Best Before: Death,” “Please End Me,” and “The Gallow—each now included on their latest offering Cursed: The Complete Edition, the most ambitious and complete chapter of their journey so far. To date, the band have amassed over 110 million streams, 21 million YouTube views, with their Spotify Monthly listeners recently peaking at over 1 million. Their recent, sold-out Cursed Tour across Europe, the UK, and North America sold over 60,000 tickets.

Eclectic Guitarist Eric Steckel Drops "When It Rains, It Pours" Video

Eclectic American guitarist and singer Eric Steckel, who traffics in blues, rock, and metal, has signed to SPV Recordings and returns with new single "When It Rains, It Pours."

"'When It Rains, It Pours,' the first single from my upcoming 2026 album, is my sonic declaration that storms are meant to be weathered, not avoided," says Steckel. "It's both a reflection of my own life and career, as well as a testament to resilience and tenacity, even when —especially when — storms are on the horizon. It serves as a reminder to us all that we can find strength in the storm itself. When the rain comes, as it inevitably does, some seek shelter. Others choose to stand tall and let the storm reveal their inner strength. 'When It Rains, It Pours' is the musical reminder to channel that strength!"

Watch the video below.

The song starts with a powerful drum fill and continues to impress with a strong guitar riff, a screaming Hammond organ and a driving groove. Eric Steckel has toured worldwide sharing the billing with Steve Vai, Gregg Allman, Johnny Winter, John Mayall, Ray Charles, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, and others and was voted into Total Guitar magazine's list of "The 100 Greatest Blues Guitarists of All Time" and named one of "10 Future Blues Stars" by Guitar Player.
