The Wait Is Over: Of Virtue Release 'Omen' Album and Title Track Single

Rising as an unrivaled force in metal, Of Virtue, have today unleashed their highly anticipated album, "Omen" via Arising Empire Records. Accompanying the thunderous release is its enigmatic title track single, which serves as a captivating prelude to the emotional journey that "Omen" holds. Fans can listen to the new album below.

Speaking on today's album release, Damon Tate shares:

"This record is 3 years and a whole lifetime in the making. If we had listened to everyone who told us to give up and move on - or the doubt in our own minds that can creep in - then we wouldn't be standing here today, stronger than ever. OMEN is a shining beacon that we can change ourselves for the better and attempt to provide that same light for others in the process. We did not choose to exist in this life, everyone's circumstances and situations are different. For us, it is a privilege and a responsibility to shine our light onto others, as those artists and kind human beings did for us during our darkest hours. We do not have to be slaves to past decisions, mistakes made, or self-sabotage as long as we keep putting one foot in front of the other."

Regarding today's single release, Tate continues:

"Omen was written as an open letter to my younger self. Nobody can change the past or the mistakes that were made - the only thing we can do is be as open and honest about our journey with others that may be in a similar situation so they can potentially avoid some of the harsh realities that can come along with growing up. For a long time, I bottled up the shame and guilt attached with my alcohol/drug abuse and even though I was on a road to recovery, those negative behaviors started to manifest themselves in other ways that were equally as unhealthy."

Harnessing the potent fusion of powerful melodies and emotionally charged lyrics, Of Virtue maintain a steadfast commitment to authenticity, consistently redefining the genre while staying true to their artistic essence. Beyond their musical prowess, the metal powerhouse also serve as passionate mental health advocates on and off stage. Often seen using their platform to raise awareness and openly discuss these vital issues, Of Virtue have become a source of hope and inspiration for countless fans facing similar challenges.

Mixed and mastered by none other than Daniel Braunstein (known for his work with Spiritbox, The Ghost Inside, Silverstein), "Omen" is poised to leave an indelible mark on the genre as a whole. In addition to being a testament to Of Virtue's artistic evolution, "Omen" positions them for success as they embark on a triumphant European tour and Pulp Summer Slam, where they are set to share the stage with industry heavyweights Parkway Drive and Code Orange next year.

Be sure to stay tuned for more Of Virtue news coming soon.

WHAT THE PRESS ARE SAYING:

"Of Virtue came to impress with the release of Omen, and they delivered tenfold. Pushing beyond the traditional boundaries of hardcore and metal, Of Virtue's Omen does not disappoint. The wide range of various stylistic influences gives every type of listener something to enjoy while highlighting the band's creativity, talent, and artistry."

Music Scene Media

"In sum, "Omen" is a captivating mosaic of modern metalcore. It's an exploration of electronic-infused melodies, thunderous breakdowns, guttural roars, and relentless rhythms. Of Virtue's willingness to push boundaries and embrace experimentation shines through, making "Omen" a sonic odyssey worth embarking on."

You Make The Scene

Of Virtue's unstoppable rise continues as they secure the coveted cover spot on Spotify's "Kickass Metal" and feature prominently on Spotify's "All New Metal." The impact of their album "Omen" is undeniable, with the record reaching the Top 20 on iTunes' Rock Chart within hours of its release and earning a place in the Top 3 of US Albums.

UK indiepop duo KARAMELIEN set to release 'Living With The Moon' album, previewing latest single 'Digital Imogen'

"This invigorating album presents soulful indie pop at its best. A breath of fresh air that is rich on melody, its lyrics range from confessional to tongue-in-cheek with Kaleido’s sublime vocals to smoothen this pleasureful ride. A captivating offering!" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Upbeat, a joyous folk-rock affair... bedecked in kaleidoscopic sixties sparkle, a slight splash of psychedelia and a whole tsunami of charm and grace" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"A hug of soulful indie pop with groove as infectious as its melodic breath and lyrical smile is poetic... seductive captivation" ~ Ringmaster Review

''A true work of beauty and professionalism, taking you to your very own ascension heights" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

UK indie pop-rock duo
Karamelien present their debut album, 'Living With The Moon', a grounding 9-track offering that breaks from the typical songwriter mould, with sonic offerings that draw inspiration from fuzzy Lo-fi, storytelling, trip hop, and reverb-drenched 1960s film soundtracks, with a greater emphasis on beats and basslines.

Based in East Grinstead, Karamelien is singer-songwriter
Léanie Kaleido and guitarist Mark Foster - two long-time friends, whose music has forged an even stronger bond between them. This Karamelien album follows the three albums that Léanie Kaleido released as a solo artist.

Léanie and Mark were joined by one of the UK's leading bass players, Lee Pomeroy (ELO, Take That, Rick Wakeman, Yes), on most of the album's tracks. However, the song
'Ascension Heights' features bassist Morris 'Mo' Pleasure (Earth, Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Ray Charles), who graced the track with his funkadelic bassline.

Karamelien also present the video for
'Digital Imogen', a feisty in tongue-in-cheek warning of the dangers of obsessing over own photos on social media, which was recorded and produced by Ian Caple (Massive Attack, Tricky, Mansun, Tindersticks, Vanessa Paradis), who was also EMI's in-house engineer back in the day.

Mark Foster says, "We wanted the guitars to sound pretty processed, and a little bit ugly - which I think we achieved! I was definitely channelling the spirit of Sonic Youth, J Mascis, and a host of other beautiful noise-niks on this one".

The duo earlier released the title track
'Living With The Moon' and 'Wait For Me'with piano, mixing and production by Chris Mars (A Flock of Seagulls, Damian Wilson). Two other tracks were produced by RIDE's Mark Gardener at OX4 Sound Studio - 'Lionhearts' and 'Ascension Heights', which features a guitar sample from Léanie's late father Top Topham (original founding guitarist of The Yardbirds) and also involved Paul Statham (Dido, Simple Minds, Kylie Minogue).

As of October 27, the 'Living With The Moon' album is available from fine digital platforms, including
 Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.

Hailing from Germany, Marv Wilder and Phil Bayer found common ground by talking about their childhood influences, namely Peter Gabriel, U2, and Sting. With the vision in mind to fuse a fresh pop x rock sound with the aesthetics of EDM and world music, the pair set out to showcase something fresh and new.

After the successful launch of the single "The Hymn," the song was featured in an official AFL game between Port Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs on Australian Television, marking quite the achievement for such a new act.

HUNTERGIRL'S “AIN’T ABOUT YOU” IMPACTS RADIO TODAY

America’s sweetheart, vocal powerhouse, and esteemed songwriter HunterGirl’s powerful “Ain’t About You” today impacts country radio, securing this week’s coveted most-added accolade on Wheelhouse Records, locking in 46 first-week stations in markets including San Francisco, Houston, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Detroit, Minneapolis, Charlotte, Portland, Ore., and San Antonio.

HunterGirl is the first female country artist in over 30 years to write her debut radio single by herself. “Ain’t About You” is produced by award-winning producer Lindsay Rimes (Kane Brown, Kelsea Ballerini).

“Having a song on country radio has been my dream since I was a little girl,” says HunterGirl. “‘Ain’t About You’ was supposed to be my ‘I’m leaving Nashville song,’ and it ended up being my ‘staying in Nashville song.’ I hope that anyone who is thinking about giving up on their dreams hears this song and decides to give it a second chance.”

“HunterGirl is an amazing singer and songwriter, but what really differentiates her is her heart, which is on full display when she meets fans, radio programmers and even strangers on the street," says Ken Tucker, VP of Promotion, Wheelhouse Records. "She’s a generational talent, and I can’t wait to watch her journey. ‘Ain’t About You’ is a song that she wrote entirely on her own, and for a debut single on a female country artist, that's a benchmark that hasn't been hit in the last 30 years."

Having grown up winning singing and songwriting competitions and cutting her teeth performing on Lower Broadway, the American Idol runner-up came home from back-to-back writing sessions one day with an ache she just couldn’t shake. Seeing the success of her friends - signing record and publishing deals - she couldn’t help but wonder if she was on the right path, still chasing her musical dream in Nashville, when she hadn’t made much leeway.

Discouraged with a breaking heart, trembling voice and eyes filled with tears, she put pen to paper for a 45-minute conversation with Jesus. Written just two weeks before she auditioned for ABC’s American Idol, the hauntingly honest words of “Ain’t About You” flooded out of her like a resounding prayer, reminding her there’s “purpose in the wait.”

Scared of rejection, she kept the song a secret, until she finally had some liquid courage and sang it for American Idol winners Chayce Beckham and Noah Thompson at a BBQ cookout where they were passing around a guitar. It wasn’t until she heard their shocked response and fervent encouragement that she finally decided it was time to share it, and since the release of the heart-stirring song, it has already received tremendous praise from People, PopCulture, American Songwriter, CMT, Entertainment Tonight, Taste of Country, The Boot and more:

“HunterGirl ‘peeled back her soul’ and the song - a soulful tearjerker of a ballad questioning if ‘tomorrow's the day those closed doors will open up’ poured from her like water and wine.”
–
Tennessean

“It's
an inspiring anthem for anyone seeking their true calling, made even more powerful by the circumstances under which she wrote it.” – Sweety High

“‘Ain’t About You,’ is a product of this experience as it uncovers an authentic look into
the power of prayerand patience in her personal journey.” – Country Now

The raw track is full of chilling conviction. The striking and painfully relatable lyrics truly fall out of the Tennessee girl in the most honest and humble of ways.” – All Country News

“HunterGirl
showcases exactly why America fell in love with her in this song.” – Country Swag

About HunterGirl:

A Tennessee native, singer/songwriter HunterGirl has been performing since she was three years old and writing songs since she was nine. In her early teens, she performed at venues across the United States, competed in singing competitions and won the 2014 Texaco Country Showdown. After graduating high school, she moved to Nashville and immediately started playing gigs at Nashville’s most famous venues including Tootsie’s, Rippy’s, Jason Aldean’s Bar, The Listening Room, and HonkyTonk Central, winning songwriting contests such as “Nash Next” and the prestigious “Nashville Songwriter Association International” in her spare time. Due to having family members who served in the military, HunterGirl holds a deep admiration for our Country’s armed forces and tenaciously works with many veteran organizations, where she uses music therapy to transform veterans’ stories into songs. She’s shared the stage with Country superstars Old Dominion, Florida Georgia Line, Kane Brown, Alan Jackson, Lainey Wilson, Trace Adkins, Charlie Daniels, Sara Evans and more. Last year, she competed on American Idol, where the “country singer with a bright future” (Hollywood Life) delivered standout performances that Taste of Country called “impressive,” “shining,” “chill-worthy,” and “glowing,” winning the hearts of millions across the country. Praised by Idol judge and Country superstar Luke Bryan as the “new age Miranda Lambert” and his “favorite female Country voice,” “HunterGirl has wowed the Country music community since she stepped foot onto the American Idol stage” (Billboard). “Despite missing out on the win, her crooning vocals and intimate original song, ‘Red Bird,’ has made her one to watch in the Country scene (American Songwriter). Skyrocketing to No. 1 on iTunes All-Genre and Country charts, “the budding Country star” (Taste of Country) performed her heartfelt and deeply personal original track “Red Bird” on Live with Kelly & Ryan and has appeared on Good Morning America. Now, with the release of her label debut tracks “Hometown Out Of Me,” “Lonely Outta You” and her hauntingly powerful debut radio single “Ain’t About You,” driven by her distinct and genuine vocals, unwavering tenacity, and heart of gold, HunterGirl is on the fast track to becoming Country’s next big female artist.

Extortionist Announce Signing With Unique Leader Records And Announce New Upcoming EP 'Devoid' Out December 1

Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, heavy metal mainstays Extortionist have today announced their new signing with Unique Leader Records. In celebration of the news, the band announced their first EP with the label 'Devoid' (set for release on Friday, December 1) and unleashed their new track "Out of Touch" with the official music video. Speaking on today's news, the band shared:

"Extortionist is excited to announce our signing to Unique Leader Records. We are ecstatic to work alongside Jamie and the team at ULR in this next chapter of the band's life. Devoid, our brand new EP, releases worldwide on December 1st, 2023.

Our leading single, "Out of Touch" is both literal and metaphorical in its lyrics, videography, and themes. The story depicts a person battling the 'Hivemind.' This character represents the internal, mental war between authenticity and compromise."

Pre-save 'Devoid' here, stream "Out of Touch" here, and watch the music video below. Be sure to stay tuned for more Extortionist news coming very soon.

Band names go a long way in helping paint a figurative picture in the listener's mind of what to expect before one ever hits “play.” When it comes to Extortionist, you think crime—you think gritty, raw, merciless and unsavory and maybe, just maybe, a little sprinkling of suaveness. When it comes to the Pacific Northwest’s resident moshslingers, those premonitions from their name are exactly what you get. As a band who have proven themselves exemplary at styles of heavy music ranging from downtempo deathcore to grunge-tinted metal, Extortionist are more than just a jack-of-all-trades; they’re masters. Utilizing bold, roaring guitars overtop crushing, steamrolling percussion and vocals that run the gamut from guttural to grating, pitched singing and topped off with—you guessed it—a now-infamous dodgeball-smack snare, Extortionist have proven that not only are they incredible at what they do, they’re a band that the heavy scene just can’t go without.

Emerging from the relatively understated pastures and prairies of Coeur d’Alene in early 2013, to say Extortionist have been on a journey since their inception would be an understatement. With "The Black Sheep" instantly earning them notoriety with its combination of feral grooves and eviscerating breakdowns, Extortionist proved themselves early on as prodigal masters of all things punishingly heavy. As the band grew and gained more experience on the road in light of the success of their debut EP, their style and dynamic grew as well. After nearly four years of touring and writing, Extortionist would unleash 'The Decline' in 2017, a band that saw their breed of brutalizing deathcore hybridized with riff-heavy metalcore and more introspective lyrics that tackled suicidal ideation and substance abuse. 'The Decline' was met with immense critical praise and continued to open up larger opportunities for the Northwestern act, ultimately earning them multiple co-headlining tours from coast to coast, and a spot on Stay Sick Records, alongside other up-and-coming heavyweights like SPITE and Bodysnatcher. Barely a year and a half after their signing, the band announced their sophomore full-length release, 'Sever the Cord', which saw them experimenting with the inclusion of grunge and alternative influences, adding even more depth and grit to their dynamic. Their sophomore album earned them not only critical acclaim, but nationwide tours alongside The Browning, Betraying the Martyrs, Lorna Shore and First Blood. 'Sever the Cord' was followed shortly thereafter by an eponymous EP which saw them diving deeper into a more exploratory realm of metalcore, colliding ferocious riffs into moments of warm, nostalgic melody. While their self-titled release was widely heralded as the band’s strongest work to date, was declared their Swan Song, as in the weeks that followed towards the back-end of Summer 2019, Extortionist announced their dissolution.

That isn’t the end of Extortionist’s story, however. As 2019 gave way into 2020 and the chaotic months that followed, the heavy music community felt the band’s absence all too strongly. In the early months of 2021, Extortionist announced their return with a series of shows in Spokane, Washington alongside AVOID and Seconds Ago as well as a new single, “Once More in Torment”. Once more highlighting the seamless blend of raunchy aggression and groove-heavy catchiness that only Extortionist can provide, the band’s comeback track is a strong reminder of just how missed they were throughout their nearly two-year absence. Frontman and founding member Benjamin Hoagland states “This is the best place we’ve ever been in as a band...Extortionist lives, and we’re here to stay.” Indeed, with a full-length record in the works and a ferocious return to live performance already underway, it would seem that Exortionist’s relative break was only a brief moment with which to collect themselves before reasserting their dominance over the contemporary metalcore scene. - Connor Welsh

Capstan Share Double Singles "Bete Noire" + "Heart to Heart"

Florida five-piece CAPSTAN — Anthony DeMario [vocals], Joe Mabry [guitar], Harrison Bormann [guitar], Andrew "Boz" Bozymowski [bass, vocals], and Scott Fisher [drums] — have shared a double single!

Today, fans can listen to "
Bête Noire" and "Heart to Heart."

"'Bête Noire' criticizes a broken system that rewards greed and exploitation while leaving ordinary people in suffering," the band shares. "The song calls for collective action to challenge this unjust status quo and emphasize the need to dismantle the oppressive structures that perpetuate inequality. The repeated chorus lyric of 'Hail to the thief' underscores the message of resistance against those who benefit from this system at the expense of others."

The song is truly a carnival of sounds – thinks gnarly riffs, moshy breakdowns, alternately sung and screamed vocals, and experimental, unusual, and upbeat melodies. It's a gloriously dizzying and layered mix.

The band has also dropped the video for "Heart to Heart." Watch the clip, featuring Belmont and Jason Tyler,
below.

Sonically, the song harks back to the glory days of Warped Tour, pop-punk, and emo with its vocal harmonies, singalong choruses, rowdy riffery, and standout solos. It's the best kind of throwback since it transports you to a time long since past — without OD'ing on nostalgia. It also has a very poignant lyrical lean.

"'Heart to Heart' depicts a heartfelt and comforting conversation between partners," Capstan explain. "The lyrics acknowledge the speaker's own shortcomings in listening and paying attention but emphasizes the enduring love and connection they share. The chorus highlights the importance of open communication and vulnerability in their relationship, inviting the other person to let their guard down and be themselves. The song is a message of love, understanding, and the power of shared moments."

Captan are touring next year with Holding Absence.

COLIN STOUGH REACHES THE COUNTRY ROCK PROMISELAND WITH DEBUT EP

Country newcomer and 19 Recordings/BMG artist Colin Stough reaches a milestone that was once just a pipe dream today (10/20), releasing his debut EP, Promiseland.

A heady collision of grungy Southern Rock and pure-Country style featuring six fresh tracks – with all but one co-written by Stough and produced by the likes of Alex Maxwell, Sean Rogers, and Austin Shawn – helps introduce a Mississippi-born vocal flamethrower and guitar slinger with a true underdog story.

Just 19 years old and coming off a standout third-place finish on Season 21 of American Idol in 2022, Stough was still in high school until last year and had been working full-time as an HVAC technician after graduation. But once his mother convinced him to audition for Idol, that life became history.

Now based in Nashville, and mixing a freight train of full-bodied vocal rasp with a down-home blend of Hard Rock and twang, his debut EP marks the culmination of a whirlwind journey – and the start of an exciting new chapter.

“This EP represents who I am and where I’m from,” Stough says. “It speaks to my life these past few years and has become a source of comfort for me. Maybe that’s why I called it Promiseland. I hope it can be that for you, too.”

Along with preparing for the release of Promiseland, Stough has spent 2023 headlining shows across the nation, while also supporting fellow rising star Kidd G and Country-Soul troubadour Drake White. A series of previous singles have so far racked up more than 9.4 MILLION global on-demand streams, with “‘Til the Day One Does” on deck.

A brooding ballad of romantic longing wrapped in dark Western sonics and Stough’s blowtorch vocal, the low-down anthem co-written by Stough alongside Geoff Warburton, Gavin Lucas, and Austin Shawn is all about an on-the-run loner who may be hard to love – but nevertheless, holds his head high. Crunchy guitars, banjo, and whispering steel set the stage for what’s to come.

"This song is badass, man. It just feels cool, like something you’re supposed to drive around and listen to,” Stough explains. “It touches on the fast lifestyle that I’ve been forced to become adjusted to – but also, it hints at an ability to change. Something that I think we all have to do and can relate to.

About Colin Stough:

A 19-year-old Country Rock phenom and native of Gattman, Mississippi, Colin Stough has come a long way in a few short years – and with his debut EP Promiseland, the 19 Recordings/BMG artist is still just getting started. After learning to play guitar at 8 years old, Stough first pursued artistic dreams at 10, boldly trading childhood possessions for his first guitar at a local pawn shop – an instrument he still plays to this day. After graduating high school, the naturally gifted singer and self-taught songwriter began working full-time as an HVAC technician, before his mother convinced him to audition for American Idol. Impressing judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie, Stough stunned viewers and soon built a thriving fan base, finishing third on Season 21 of the show in 2022. He spent the ensuing months writing and recording original music, while also touring nationwide to put his blowtorch vocal and guitar-slinging edge on full display. After signing with 19 Recordings/BMG, his distinctive mix of Southern Rock distortion and pure-Country style have helped tracks like “I Still Talk To Jesus” and “Bad Day” rack up more than 9.4 MILLION global on-demand streams, and in September 2023, Stough released the single “Promiseland,” along with an official music video. The hard-hitting anthem is the title track to Stough’s debut EP, which is out now and puts the emerging artist on track to reach even more dreams in the future. Stough has headlined across the country and opened for established artists like Kidd G and Drake White. Stay tuned for much more to come.

ALT-POP ARTIST, DELA KAY RELEASES “LET YOU DOWN” A Soundtrack to Vulnerability and Self-Discovery

Alt-Pop artist, Dela Kay, is back with a heartfelt and emotionally charged single, "Let You Down." This release marks a significant milestone for Dela Kay, as it showcases her vulnerability and genuine storytelling abilities, offering listeners a glimpse into her personal journey and the complexities of modern dating. "Let You Down" is a unique collaboration between Dela Kay and producer Stefano Pigliapoco, who had initially crafted the instrumental foundation causing the creative sparks to fly upon meeting. The songwriting process began with Dela Kay imagining the perspective of the other person in a relationship,

which gradually evolved into a reflection of her own feelings – a poignant exploration of trust, vulnerability, and the fear of self-sabotage.

Inspired by artists such as The Maine, Maggie Lindemann, Paramore, and Avril Lavigne, Dela Kay is continuing to lean into her Alternative roots with the release of "Let You Down." Having always considered herself a songwriter first, Dela Kay feels this era of her career is her most authentic to date, as she gears up to release a string of singles through 2024. Her upbringing in Nashville, TN has instilled in her the art of storytelling, which shines through in her lyrics and melodies. “I hope to make a lasting impression, making my artistic mark with authenticity and edginess. I think women have a voice and I intend to use mine and don’t plan on stopping until I have everyone’s attention” Dela Kay passionately expresses.

MORE INFO:
Hailing from Nashville, TN, music was always a big part of the household for Dela Kay. Seeing the emotional connection a personal song could make fueled her desire to write and to be a storyteller. She studied musical theater at The Chicago College of Performing Arts at the Theatre Conservatory of Roosevelt University, where she grew creatively in many ways, but ultimately felt a strong call back to her roots of songwriting. “I will always love life in the theater. But there is something so much more satisfying to me when I create something uniquely mine, from my heart, using my own words and music. I draw from the scars of broken relationships just as easily as the joy and celebration of being young and free.”

In 2014, her electro-pop style began to emerge through a collaboration with Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and producer, Femke Weidema; which eventually led to her first electro-pop/European-infused single release, “9 out of 10,” as Dela Kay in 2016. Named by Earmilk as an artist who was gifted “with a rich, distinctive vocal style” for her 2018 release of “Make You Mine,” Dela Kay went on to continue releasing singles and garnering hundreds of thousands of streams. In 2019 Dela Kay released “All My Love” through Sony Music, which ended up charting 49 on the top 150 global artist charts for Digital Radio Tracker as well as in the top ten for the Top Independent Charts. The release of “Think About You” shortly followed, which ended up becoming Dela’s highest-streamed song to date with almost 800k streams and counting. After a brief hiatus, Dela Kay marked her return by debuting a new, more alternative sound in 2021 with the release of “The Worst Part,” via Wonderland Magazine.

Encouraged by the positive feedback, Dela Kay delved deeper into this new sound with the release of "Old News," a collaboration with Ryan Dulude and Rikki Jo Randall. Closing out 2022, Dela Kay touched hearts with "Daughter," a poignant song dedicated to her father. This track marked a departure from her usual upbeat style, embracing a more folk-driven alternative sound, rich in vulnerability and cinematic storytelling. Now in 2023, Dela Kay's dedicated fan base can anticipate a wave of fresh content, with more songs and surprises awaiting them in the coming year. Looking ahead to 2024, Dela Kay plans to embark on a West

Coast tour in the spring and summer, bringing her music and unique brand of storytelling to audiences far and wide.

On Thorns I Lay Streaming Album Ahead of Release

ON THORNS I LAY deliver more of their legendary death-doom on their first album for Season of Mist. With chugging riffs, ear-shattering wails of terror and eerily melodic funeral passages, their new self-titled LP is bound to crush your spirit.

'On Thorns I Lay' comes out this Friday, October 13. But you can listen to the whole album a day early thanks to Distorted Sound, who are premiering the full stream on their website.

On Thorns I Lay are Greek titans. The band came up through the underground during the early '90s, in the wake of Nightfall, Septicflesh and Rotting Christ. But while those bands were swayed more by symphonic and black metal, these Athenians developed a taste for the gothic. Which makes sense. After all, they are named after a Shakespearean sonnet.

Here's what the band have to say about the new album:

"We are very proud that our best album in our 30 year old career, self-titled 'On Thorns I Lay', is finally out through Season Of Mist recs. We truly dedicate it to all our fans who were there from the beginning or joined in during the journey...this one comes just from the heart...."

ON THORNS I LAY started as a death metal band together with other cult bands in Greece in the early 90’s such as Rotting Christ, Septic Flesh, Necromantia, Nightfall and started to spread their name in the local and global underground scene.

ON THORNS I LAY have released 9 albums so far such as “Orama”, “Crystal Tears” and “Aegean Sorrow” gaining great praise. The band have shared the stage with artists such as Dream Theater, In Flames, Anathema, Amorphis, Katatonia, Rotting Christ, Tiamat, The Gathering, Satyricon, Septic Flesh and many more. The band’s last album “Threnos” (2020) followed the path of atmospheric, yet emotional Doom Death Metal – paying tribute to the roots and representing the trademark sound of the band once again. ON THORNS I LAY continue to tell dense stories of loss and despair.

After their mini tour at the Baltic states with Rotting Christ in 2022, ON THORNS I LAY finished the recordings of their 10th album and first for Season of Mist. The self-titled LP pushes death-doom to epic heights, casting a newborn Gothic glow over muscular riffs and cavernous vocals hearkening back to the halcyon days of early ‘90s Peaceville death-doom.

Extol Return With Double Single "Labyrinth of Ill" + Exigency"

EXTOL, the pioneering Norwegian death metal band once celebrated by The Wall Street Journal for "roaring, blizzardlike guitar shredding, frantic drumming, startling time-signature changes, and gear-stripping growls," are back — and in a big way.

The band has shared not one but two brand new singles.

It's the first new music from Extol in a decade and it's a welcome return, which finds Christer Espevoll back in the ranks.

Today, fans can rejoice at the forward-thinking sounds of "Labyrinth of Ill"and "Exigency."  Listen
here.

The songs set the table for Extol's first live appearances since 2014 and a pre-cursor to what's next — expect more music.

Each of the members — guitarist Ole Børud, vocalist Peter Espevoll, aforementioned guitarist Christer Espevoll, and drummer David Husvik — offered their unique insight into the new material.

"The new songs have that perfect blend of hooks, quirks, and melody, coupled with the distinct flavor of a lineup featuring David, Peter, Christer, and yours truly. And top that off with an excellent mix from Jens Bogren. I'm very happy," says Børud.

Peter Espevoll shares the sentiments, saying "I can't believe it's been a decade since we released the latest Extol album. I'm really stoked about the fact that Christer is on board again! It kind of feels like the good old days!"

"The way we wrote 'Labyrinth of Ill' took me back to the good old days," says Christer Espevoll. "It has the distinct impression of all members baked into a recognizably unique Extol cookie: Brutal riffing and tight, yet floating rhythmic section, meeting pleasant melodies, and atypical metal harmonies, topped off with a slightly outside guitar solo that leaves you wanting more, all in classic  Extol fashion. I can't wait to continue this new Extol chapter!"

"'Labyrinth of Ill' has definitely renewed my faith in Extol and our ability to play rock music once again," shares Husvik. "Who doesn't wanna go to church when they hear the 'Patience' passages play ping pong with Ole's guitar solo? Brutal, but at the same time disturbingly cozy."

ABOUT EXTOL:
Extol formed in 1993, gained rapid recognition in the extreme metal scene for their innovative fusion of intricate technicality, melodic sensibilities, and faith-based lyrics. Over the years, Extol's distinctive style evolved, incorporating elements of progressive metal, black metal, thrash, and other avant-garde influences. Undeceived (2000) and Synergy (2003) explored complex song structures, while The Blueprint Dives (2005) took a more experimental and progressive rock direction while still retaining their metal roots, earning them their first Norwegian Grammy nomination.

Despite lineup changes, Extol remained committed to defying genre conventions.

In 2013, they returned with a self-titled album, receiving critical acclaim for its technical prowess and progressive approach, earning global respect for their musicianship. Their enduring legacy continues to inspire new generations of metal musicians.

UK indiepop duo KARAMELIEN previews 'Digital Imogen' on the dangers of obsessive filtering. New album is out October 27

''A true work of beauty and professionalism, taking you to your very own ascension heights" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

Ahead of releasing their debut album
'Living With The Moon', indie pop-rock duo Karamelien presents their new single 'Digital Imogen', a feisty in tongue-in-cheek warning of the dangers of society's worrying obsession with filtering our own photos on social media.

Based in East Grinstead, Karamelien is singer-songwriter
Léanie Kaleido and guitarist Mark Foster - two long-time friends, whose music has forged an even stronger bond between them.

Bassist Lee Pomeroy (ELO, Take That, Rick Wakeman, Yes) also plays on this ballsy tune, giving an appreciative nod to indie goddess Shirley Manson of Garbage, a huge influence on Léanie in the 1990s.

The track was recorded and produced by Ian Caple (Massive Attack, Tricky, Mansun, Tindersticks, Vanessa Paradis). As EMI's in-house engineer back in the day, Ian was privileged to have worked with Kate Bush on her demos (and don't tell anyone but Simon Cowell was allegedly his tea boy back then!)

The track came about when Léanie was thinking about a friend called Imogen and her love of wordplay led her to conjure up Digital Imogen. With social media-fuelled pressure on young people to use filters to change people's features and airbrush impurities, Léanie decided to use this title as a semi-lighthearted protest at this unnerving pressure to look 'cartoon perfect' all the time.

"I once interviewed Shirley from Garbage back in my days as a music journalist, and I always admired her gorgeously unflinching power and attitude. I'm hoping this song has shown that side of me, just a little bit. And Mark Foster's immense guitars have really brought this track to life and given it the balls it needed. He's such a dude!" says Léanie Kaleido.

"Imagine getting so obsessed with your 'perfect', filtered online self that you actually get too scared to even go out any more, in case you're seen as your true self? That's what Digital Imogen is about. Even though the name was inspired by a friend, she's nothing like Digital Imogen - she's a really cool person who doesn't give in to the crappy obsession with changing how we look. We should all be like the real Imogen, not the Digital one."

Mark Foster adds, "We wanted the guitars to sound pretty processed, and a little bit ugly - which I think we achieved! I was definitely channelling the spirit of Sonic Youth, J Mascis, and a host of other beautiful noise-niks on this one".

This follows the album's title track
'Living With The Moon' - an upbeat, breezy guitar-driven anthem that gives the musical finger to the armchair critics. At the same time, it addresses coming to terms with the ongoing struggle with mental health and embracing the ups and downs and ebbs and flows of life and all its mysteries.

Earlier, Karamelien released the single
'Wait For Me' featuring piano, mixing and production by Chris Mars (A Flock of Seagulls, Damian Wilson) and two tracks produced by RIDE's Mark Gardener at OX4 Sound Studio - 'Lionhearts' and the epic 'Ascension Heights', which features a guitar sample from Léanie's late father Top Topham (original founding guitarist of The Yardbirds). This particular song also features bassist Mo Pleasure (Earth, Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson) and involved Paul Statham (Dido, Simple Minds, Kylie Minogue).

As of October 9, the 'Digital Imogen' single is available on
Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. The full album, which will be released on October 27, is now available for pre-order via Bandcamp.

Coyote Eyes Releases “Lightning Strikes” A Mesmerizing Blend of Acoustic and Orchestral Magic

Coyote Eyes, the musical project led by singer-songwriter, Jo Eubanks, has released her latest single, "Lightning Strikes," today. This new single, penned by Coyote Eyes herself, marks an artistic collaboration with the accomplished musician and producer, Jared Chance Taylor, for the second time. Thematically, "Lightning Strikes" explores the intriguing concept that life's

path may be guided by the belief that "if it's meant to be, it will be," ultimately leaving the course of destiny to fate. The song delves into questions of faith, destiny, and the interplay between preordained destinies and the choices individuals make to shape their own futures.

Coyote Eyes reflects on the dichotomy of life experiences, where some individuals seem to effortlessly navigate life's challenges, enjoying harmonious relationships, successful careers, financial stability, and fulfilling family lives. These individuals, often likened to artists who are "discovered" just by walking down the street or who embark on lifelong love affairs from their first encounter, seem to effortlessly align with the universe. "Lightning Strikes" ponders whether it's easier to have faith or trust in a larger cosmic plan when everything consistently falls into place. Conversely, the song acknowledges those who face greater trials and tribulations, struggling for years to find love or stability, while seemingly encountering closed doors in their pursuit of dreams. "Does that mean that 'the universe' doesn't want them to have all those things? Or that their fate isn't happiness, love, and abundance?" Coyote Eyes wonders.

"Lightning Strikes" originated as a humble composition, featuring Coyote Eyes’ soulful vocals intertwined with the sounds of a piano, exuding a raw and heartfelt acoustic vibe. However, the song evolved into a breathtaking auditory journey, characterized by lush instrumentals, including the incorporation of live strings. Coyote Eyes expressed her personal admiration for the song's beautiful orchestration, which envelops listeners in an emotional and immersive experience. She particularly highlighted Jared Chance Taylor's ingenious use of synthy bass, reminiscent of an '80s romantic drama, as a captivating element in the song's second verse.

MORE INFO:
Coyote Eyes is the dark pop alter ego of New York bred Jo Eubanks, a multidisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles. With a hauntingly captivating musical style characterized by lush soundscapes, ethereal vocals, and eerie piano melodies, Coyote Eyes weaves a spellbinding tapestry that is equally tragic and seductive. Coyote Eyes began training to be a classical singer in early childhood, and by 16 she was already capturing label attention for her distinctive, emotionally charged voice which held “the pain of a 30 year old woman inside a child’s body.” However, she felt compelled to break free from the constraints of societal expectations, pushing the

boundaries of her creative authenticity in a world that demanded conformity. In 2018, she emerged as Coyote Eyes, a powerful and enigmatic persona unafraid to delve into the depths of the human experience. In traditional lore, the coyote is the one creature which cannot be categorized; it is an enigma, a dichotomy, a living riddle. As such, Coyote Eyes emerged from her fascination with duality in all its forms, which she explores both sonically and thematically. She performs regularly in both New York City and LA at Rockwood Music Hall, Mercury Lounge, The McKittrick Hotel, Viper Room, and with Breaking Sound and Hunnypot Live.

Plain White T's Share "You Plus Me" — LISTEN

SELF-TITLED ALBUM OUT NOVEMBER 17 VIA FEARLESS RECORDS

BAND APPEARING AT SECOND ANNUAL WHEN WE WERE YOUNG FESTIVAL

PLAIN WHITE T'S — Tom Higgenson [vocals], Tim Lopez [lead guitar, vocals], Mike Retondo [bass], and De'Mar Hamilton [drums] — recently announced their new, self-titled album, out November 17 via Fearless Records. Pre-order it
here

The band has shared the lyric video for "
You Plus Me." Watch and listen below

With its gentle, acoustic guitar strumming, lilting melodies, and talk-sung vocals that deliver relatable, journal-honest lyrics, "You Plus Me" has a delightfully retro vibe. It's a simple, pretty, and resonant ode to finding and loving your person through good times and bad. Ultimately, this song could have a second life in a montage in a movie where a starstruck couple is trying to find its way back to one another.

"'You Plus Me' is a song about finding that person who is just as weird and nerdy as I am," says Higgenson. "It's our flaws and our uniqueness that brings us together. There's kind of an 'us against the world' mentality in this song and I love that! We purposely left the recording very raw and stripped down to let that spontaneity and misfit charm shine through."

As for the album, the band took its time and truly tapped into the essence that is the Plain White T's.

"We were trying to hark back to sounds we've used in the past with a freshness," Higgenson says. "This one came from a really authentic place of understanding who we are and what we do. I'm more excited than I've been in a long time. As musicians, we're always trying to outdo ourselves or go somewhere we haven’t gone before. Somehow, we figured out how to go to a fresh spot and still sound like Plain White T's."

Mission accomplished with the new album!

The band will also appear at the second annual When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas later this month.

JASON ALDEAN PREVIEWS “WHISKEY DRINK” OFF OF 11th STUDIO ALBUM, HIGHWAY DESPERADO, OUT NOVEMBER 3

With 27 number one singles, 17 billion streams and 20 million albums sold, reigning ACM Artist of the Decade Jason Aldean today released another new track from his highly-anticipated 11th studio album, HIGHWAY DESPERADO, ahead of its November 3rd release. Released today as another preview of new music to come and written by Kurt Allison, Jonathan Edwards, Tully Kennedy, and John Morgan, “Whiskey Drink,” is available here. HIGHWAY DESPERADO features fourteen total tracks, including Aldean’s breakthrough Hot 100 chart-topping single and current Top 5 Country radio hit, “Try That In A Small Town.” In addition to today’s new track, the album also features the newly released track “Let Your Boys Be Country,” as well as three tracks co-written by Aldean. The 3X ACM Entertainer of the Year winner first introduced new music from the album in May with the release of the fan-appreciation anthem, “Tough Crowd,” at this year’s ACM Awards, where Aldean was an Entertainer of the Year nominee. The album is available for pre-save/pre-add now, including exclusive pre-order packages here.

The album marks the first new music since Aldean’s 10th studio project, the double album MACON, GEORGIA, which earned praise from Rolling Stone, Stereogum, The Tennessean, Entertainment Tonight, E! News and more.  The album earned Aldean his 27th career-charting #1 single, "Trouble With A Heartbreak,” as well as a Billboard Music Award nomination for “Top Country Song” and awards from ACM, CMT, iHeart, and a GRAMMY nomination for “If I Didn’t Love You” with Carrie Underwood. Since making his chart debut in 2005, the Georgia native has earned the most Top 10 songs on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart - more than any other artist - his “songs of small-town living, love and loss have resonated with a loyal fanbase” (Billboard) and have “vaulted him to the pinnacle of Country music success” (Atlanta Journal Constitution). His current tour of the same name continues through October 27th. For more information on Jason Aldean including additional tour dates and new music, visit www.JasonAldean.com.

Indie Pop-Rock Artist, Harley Luck, Releases "Stay"

Emerging indie pop-rock artist, Harley Luck, has re-released his debut single, "Stay," under his new moniker. The re-mastered track was originally penned in Harley's bedroom during April of 2020, and carries the emotional weight of those early days of the pandemic. As the world grappled with isolation and uncertainty, Harley turned to music as a means of expression. This song, one of his earliest works, emerged as a testament to his songwriting and production skills.

"Stay" paints a vivid picture of the struggle to hold on to someone when the world was forcing everyone apart. The onset of the pandemic forced Harley to confront the reality of distancing from friends, connections, and a fleeting crush. Those two weeks of infatuation, coinciding with the pandemic's emergence, served as the song's primary inspiration. Harley describes "Stay" as a song that may seem like a heartfelt love ballad written by a 17-year-old, but it holds profound personal significance as a benchmark of his growth as an artist. He emphasizes his commitment to embracing change and personal evolution through his music, stating, "My songs are a method to verbalize the emotions that are difficult to express so that I can move past them and continue to grow."

Musically, "Stay" incorporates a diverse array of instruments, prominently featuring guitars, drums, and brass instruments. The infectious instrumental arrangement mirrors Harley Luck's taste in indie pop rock music, with influences drawn from Harry Styles's album "Fine Line." While Harley took on the role of sole lyricist for"Stay," he enlisted help for the instrumentation, incorporating loops from Splice while playing most of the guitar parts himself. “Something about this song that only I relate it with is Hawaii.” Harley expands “I had just gone to visit three days before lockdown started, so most of my songwriting had undertones of my experiences there. This song is super bright and energetic, and to this day I still think of Hawaii. I think having such a happy place in my recent memory during the initial period of quarantine helped me cope with everything going on, so Hawaii is always going to be special for me.”

The re-release of "Stay" marks an exciting chapter in Harley Luck's musical journey, as he unveils his work under his new moniker. Harley Luck, a name chosen for its enigmatic and gender-neutral quality, reflects Harley's commitment to embracing his unique identity.
