Shelby Short brings over 15 years of multifaceted music industry experience to Cupid Theory, having built a career spanning live event production, tour management, regional promotions, and artist development. Throughout his career, Shelby Short has taken on touring roles alongside some of the most respected names in heavy music, including The Used, Falling In Reverse, PVRIS, among many others, and is bolstered by his work as a regional promoter operating across Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville markets.

Arriving with momentum behind them, Shelby Short's roster of Not Enough Space, Pretty Pity, Summer Hoop, and VCTMS join Cupid Theory as formidable forces in their respective rights. The Los Angeles, CA based heavy metal outfit LIGHTNING STRIKES have released their sophomore album ‘The King Is Victorious’. 

Due to strong global CD sales, The King Is Victorious by Lightning Strikes will be released on vinyl on May 23, exclusively through eBay. The release will be accompanied by an official lyric video for “Voices in My Head.”

Originally formed in 1984, LIGHTNING STRIKES were the first metal band to feature an all Armenian-American line-up, well over a decade before the arrival of SYSTEM OF A DOWN. Co-founder Maksudian revived the name with new personnel a quarter century after the initial breakup recording the group's self-titled 2016 full-length debut with Brazilian vocalist Nando Fernandes (SINISTRA, HANGAR), the aforementioned Rob Math and Derek Sherinian, and former BLACK SABBATH vocalist, Tony Martin, who sang on and wrote the lyrics to 'Death Valley' and '301 AD Sins of Our Fathers'. Gridiron Release New "Lights Out" EP Today — LISTEN // Watch Video for Title Track

The four-song EP features two brand new bangers laced with the type of hardcore grooves that Gridiron have steadily built their reputation on, along with two remixes (one done by Jami Morgan and Shade of NOWHERE2RUN) of songs from last year's plate-shifting album Poetry From Pain, which was tipped by Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, NO ECHO, and more.

"'Lights Out' is a track about revenge, a track about counting your chickens before they hatch. A song about going out and getting back what's yours," declares Karll.

Gridiron, which originally formed as a pandemic project and have since grown into a full-fledged entity, features members of Never Ending Game, Simulakra, and Scarab, and connects the Philadelphia, Delaware, and Michigan areas. Pushing every boundary to a breaking point, Gridiron will go to any extreme and then some. They follow quite possibly the most unpredictable playbook in the game. The band might flood the zone with a corpsepaint-smearing death metal barrage only to double back around for a victory lap narrated by blinged-out and braggadocios bars. Wang Chung are excited to announce the 40th anniversary deluxe edition of their iconic To Live and Die in L.A. soundtrack, arriving July 31, 2026 via Interscope Records.

Originally created at the personal request of legendary director William Friedkin, the soundtrack has become one of the defining musical statements of 1980s cinema and a cult favorite among generations of film and music fans.

Pressed on Opaque Orange “L.A. Sunset” vinyl, the deluxe 2LP edition features newly remastered audio, rare bonus material, extended mixes, and two previously unreleased 1985 demos, “Joy” and “So Cold.” Fans can also look forward to an expanded digital edition of the soundtrack, expected to arrive soon and featuring additional tracks and a few surprises still to be revealed.

The expanded collection also includes “Dance Hall Days” and “Wait” — both featured in the film — with “Dance Hall Days” appearing on the soundtrack for the very first time, alongside the commercial debut of the instrumental “This One’s for You, White Boy.”

SERPENT LORD Unveils New Single, "A Pagan's Spell"

Solo pagan black metal project SERPENT LORD will be releasing its debut album, 'The Once Forgotten Ways of Old,' on May 29, 2026 via Eisenwald Records. The project is now releasing another haunting new single from the offering, "A Pagan's Spell," which can be found below.

SERPENT LORD first slithered into existence in 2003, emerging as a solitary pagan black metal vessel forged by Jake Superchi (UADA, Ceremonial Castings). Though the project's first true album was recorded in 2005, the work was abruptly shelved and lay dormant for twenty years. Now, in the Year of the Snake, the ancient offering has been reborn and reimagined as 'The Once Forgotten Ways of Old,' preserving every note of its primordial conception.

The album was re-recorded in the cold heart of the Pacific Northwest between 2022 and 2025, engineered and mixed by Jake Superchi, and mastered by Arthur Rizk. The release features new artwork and the original logo created by Kris Verwimp, along with photography by Peter Beste.

Originally formed over two decades ago, SERPENT LORD existed largely in the shadows, issuing only a handful of demos before entering an extended period of dormancy. Yet, the creative force behind the project never faded. Ideas, fragments, and compositions endured across the years, shelved for the right moment, only fully taking shape and being realized in the Year of the Snake, when the vision was finally forged into its definitive form.

Early demo material already hinted at what SERPENT LORD would become: a severe balance between melodic grandeur and unrestrained aggression, with transitions between atmosphere and brutality, produced to enhance rather than obscure its intensity.

Founded by Jake Superchi (known for its creative force in UADA and CEREMONIAL CASTINGS), SERPENT LORD channels the spirit of ’90s pagan black metal. The album stands as a triumphant and immersive work - melodic, fierce, and steeped in ritualistic energy. Expansive riffing, evocative passages, and a dynamic interplay between harsh and atmospheric elements, both timeless and fully awakened.

The album was recorded and mixed by Jake Superchi, and mastered by Arthur Rizk, achieving a sound that retains raw edge while delivering clarity and depth. The cover artwork, created by Kris Verwimp, along with photography by Peter Beste, further underscoring the album’s mythical and arcane atmosphere.

With 'The Once Forgotten Ways of Old,' SERPENT LORD emerges from decades of silence with a work that fulfills the promise of its early recordings; it's an album shaped by time, and driven by an uncompromising vision of black metal.

They Went Ghost Release New Single + Video "Smitten"

Blending progressive rock, reggae grooves, and hip hop energy into a sound entirely their own, They Went Ghost have released their brand new single and music video, “Smitten.”

Serving as a companion piece and prequel to the band’s latest video “Better Off,” “Smitten” captures the emotional rush and uncertainty that comes with falling in love for the first time. "This song was forged in a cabin in the German mountains in the brief space between tour dates. It came from a period of exhaustion, closeness, and reflection, where everything felt heightened and exposed.

"Sonically, the track feels polarizing yet consistent. We built it around contrast rather than compromise, pairing a 'campfire' style chorus that feels almost communal, with the heaviest and most chaotic moments we have ever put into a song. The aim was to let those extremes exist side by side.

"'Me & My Friends (We’re Trying Asbestos We Can)' is three minutes of melodic anguish that reflects where we were mentally and creatively. DUNCAN EVANS AND THE WEEPING STARLIGHT confront suffering and the strive for peace in their latest single offering, "Suffer". The track provides a further glimpse into the raw and emotive forthcoming album, The World is a War Zone, is scheduled to arrive on September 18, 2026 via Widowbird Records.

Approaching the cyclical nature between fear and suffering, the new single exposes how a peaceful future is impeded by memories of the past. In the lyrics, In fear of a future that exists in the past / Where no-one is sacred and nothing will lastDuncan Evans reveals how the past must be learnt from and not become a barrier to reducing suffering. 

Musically, "Suffer" carries the most progressive arrangement on the upcoming album's track list. The first section is composed in 7/4 time and sees melodic leads entwine themselves around grounding percussion alongside Evans' lead vocals. A sudden explosion of chaos shatters through the musical layers. In the aftermath of the devastation, "Suffer" returns to the opening progressive style before venturing into heavier realms. This traversal of plains of varying light and shade conveys the anxiety of uncertainty and discomfort of the unknown. 

The World is a War Zone marks the first full-length release under the name DUNCAN EVANS AND THE WEEPING STARLIGHT. Formed in 2022 to reflect the emergence of a committed three-piece lineup, the band channels intense post-punk dynamics through the dark and primal undercurrents of folk music. Across nine tracks and 45 minutes, the album explores faith, psychological upheaval, suffering and renewal, navigating the internal battlefields that shape modern existence while holding fast to the possibility of redemption.

Scottish Alt Rockers THE XCERTS Share New Single "rinse repeat" + Visualizer

Today, THE XCERTS share "rinse repeat," the latest single from their forthcoming sixth album‘i think i want to go home now.,’ out on July 10th via FLG.

The track is, by the band's own admission, something of a first: a song that deliberately references their own back catalogue. Drawing a direct line to "crisis in the slow lane" from their 2009 debut ‘In The Cold Wind We Smile,’ "rinse repeat" revisits familiar emotional territory, cancer, heartbreak, helplessness, but refracted through the experience of adulthood and the weight that comes with it.

Speaking about the track, vocalist and guitarist Murray Macleod says:

"This might be the first time we've self-referenced our own material. There are a lot of parallels between our first record and this record, with the heartbreak of a relationship deteriorating and the loss of a parent. We wanted this song to be reminiscent of 'crisis in the slow lane' but from the perspective of adulthood. Sadly cancer was all too prominent in our lives during the writing and recording of this record, and this song is very much about my father's diagnosis at the tail end of 2022 and the helplessness of it all. I also tend to merge different scenes in verses and tie them together with choruses, so verse 2 is also about hopelessness, but in regards to my then partner's struggles."

It is another unflinching entry in an album that has consistently refused to look away. Where "pretty ugly" arrived as a fuzzed-out blast of anger and "in your eyes" built toward something sweeping and quietly devastating, "rinse repeat" sits somewhere between the two: purposeful, direct, and rooted in the same collaborative instinct that has defined the making of ‘i think i want to go home now.’ throughout.

The album was written by all three members together in a room, something the band had not done since their early records, and that process is audible throughout. Recorded by Larry Hibbitt at Beehive Studios, its ten songs document two years of genuine turbulence, including the passing of bassist Jordan Smith's mother and Macleod's father's cancer diagnosis, processed in real time and in company.

HUN finds The Hu, who were first tipped by NPR back in 2019, at the peak of their powers thus far. They expand the scope of their signature Hunnu Rock with 11 tracks steeped in the lore and legend of Mongolia, yet uplifted with universal ambition. It's as epic, enthralling, and enigmatic and it opens the gateway into their world.

"We took our time to do this right, and we're so glad that we're almost ready to release what we have worked on these past few years," the band says. NYC songstress Julia Greenberg shares 'Sometimes The Sea', previewing 'Born Sentimental' EP

NYC indie-folk artist Julia Greenberg presents 'Sometimes The Sea', a reflective piece born from a moment of sudden clarity and a desire for external perspective. The second offering from her 'Born Sentimental' EP, forthcoming via New Jersey's Magic Door Record Label, it is about overcoming personal blues, viewed through the comforting lens of friendship and musical camaraderie.

Offering a temporary cure for that slipping away feeling, 'Sometimes the Sea' is framed as a conversation between two close friends about the compounding burdens of growing older. “The twilight of their mothers, those sweet bitter days at the ending of their summers—it’s all just heartbreak, it’s only a matter of degree.” The baroque accordion melodies flowing across this literary folk rock number hint at some measure of transcendence in the face of finitude.

"I knew two things as I set out to write this song. One, that it would be called 'Sometimes the Sea' because I was at the beach, and I had that moment when you get a glimpse of the ocean on a clear day, and it just shocks the darkness out of you," says Julia Greenberg.

"Two, I knew that it would be a conversation between me and my best friend Maud, and that she would be the narrator. I was perhaps feeling a bit weary of my own voice, and since she’s a brilliant writer, I figured she could tell the story of my blues and endlessly tiresome introspection with some humor and perspective. When I listen to the song, sometimes it feels like she wrote it."

Co-produced by Bob Perry (Winter Hours) and Julia Greenberg, this EP was recorded live at Chrometop Studios, engineered by Bob Perry. and mastered by Ray Ketchem(Guided by Voices, Elk City, Gramercy Arms, Luna, Crash Harmony) at Magic Door Recording Studio in Montclair, NJ.

Greenberg adds, "Jeremy Chatzky (bass), Will Holshouser (accordion) and I were in a band together in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, and we’ve played on and off together in various projects for decades. The recording of this song, which we did live in the studio, really captures our comfort with feeling our way through a song together. On that freaking accordion solo before the third verse, it’s as if Will summoned a symphony through those bellows!"

April saw the release of 'Leaves', which feels hopeful despite being written amidst the quiet wreckage of personal loss. Mastering the art of letting go, she offers a poignant reminder that some seasons simply cannot be held captive. The video -- directed by Julia Greenberg and edited by Nico Greenberg with Yumiko Takagi as director or photography -- captures a small-town schoolhouse that is "frozen in time", this setting serving as a poignant monument to the people and milestones we’ve moved on from.

The music pulses with the hard-earned intimacy of four musicians shaped by years on the road together, their songs carrying the marks of constant movement, shared trust, and a collective creative spirit forged across countless Northeastern miles. It blends the dust and edge of alternative country with the sharp lyricism and melodic elegance of classic American songwriting, creating something strikingly human — tender, weathered, and unguardedly sincere.

A chanteuse, theater composer and filmmaker with roots in NYC's vibrant music scene, Greenberg has released two albums of original music - 'Past Your Eyes' and 'Greenland' - both produced by James Mastro (The Bongos, Mott the Hoople, Ian Hunter, Patti Smith, John Cale). Her her music has been featured on 'This American Life' (including the ever-popular Dr. Phil episode, in which Phil Collins evaluates a breakup song she co-wrote), and Ronnie Spector also recorded one of her songs.

Greenberg's award-winning documentary 'Dory Previn: On My Way to Where' can now be watched on PBS, having had its world premiere at the SXSW Film & TV Festival in 2024. Prior to directing the film, Julia became the foremost interpreter of Previn’s music, performing her work around the country at venues such as Joe’s Pub, Mass MoCA, the 92nd Street Y, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, and on WFMU and WNYC radio. She is also the archivist for Previn's estate.

Apart from co-writing the hit off-Broadway rock opera 'People Are Wrong!' with Robin Goldwasser, she composed the music for the off-Broadway play 'Cavedweller' with "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" composer Stephen Trask. In her spare time, she is a health justice advocate and co-curates the music program at the Rock Valley Schoolhouse in the Catskills.

Co-produced by Bob Perry (Winter Hours) and Julia Greenberg, this EP was recorded live at Chrometop Studios, engineered by Bob Perry. and mastered by Ray Ketchem(Guided by Voices, Elk City, Gramercy Arms, Luna, Crash Harmony) at Magic Door Recording Studio in Montclair, NJ.

Greenberg adds, "Jeremy Chatzky (bass), Will Holshouser (accordion) and I were in a band together in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, and we’ve played on and off together in various projects for decades. The recording of this song, which we did live in the studio, really captures our comfort with feeling our way through a song together. On that freaking accordion solo before the third verse, it’s as if Will summoned a symphony through those bellows!"

April saw the release of 'Leaves', which feels hopeful despite being written amidst the quiet wreckage of personal loss. Mastering the art of letting go, she offers a poignant reminder that some seasons simply cannot be held captive. The video -- directed by Julia Greenberg and edited by Nico Greenberg with Yumiko Takagi as director or photography -- captures a small-town schoolhouse that is "frozen in time", this setting serving as a poignant monument to the people and milestones we’ve moved on from.

MOODY CENTER DEDICATES NEW BACKSTAGE LOUNGE “THE TROUBADOUR” TO COUNTRY MUSIC ICON GEORGE STRAIT

Moody Center unveiled a new backstage lounge dedicated to George Strait at a private ceremony during his historic final weekend at the arena. Dubbed  “The Troubadour” in homage to Strait’s GRAMMY-winning album and title track, the lounge reflects both the spirit of his music and his enduring legacy as one of Texas’ most prolific and influential musicians, songwriters and entertainers.

As a nod to Strait’s early career, The Troubadour captures the feel of a classic Texas honky-tonk, featuring a refurbished vintage jukebox programmed with his extensive catalogue, a burnt orange pool table, a restored neon sign, and carefully curated décor. At its heart, The King of Country’s iconic boot prints are permanently enshrined in a bronze plaque embedded in the floor.

Moody Center recognizes Strait for his contributions to music and his role in shaping the arena’s early history. Strait performed two nights at Moody Center’s grand opening celebration in April 2022 alongside Willie Nelson. This Spring, he made his triumphant return for a four-night, sold-out series of shows that attracted over 60,000 fans.

The Troubadour dedication, marked by a toast of Codigo tequila shots, was attended by Strait, his close friends and family, Moody Center executives and representatives from Messina Touring Group. In keeping with Moody Center’s commitment to elevating the backstage experience, the lounge is reserved exclusively for artist and industry hospitality.

“This lounge is more than just a space—it’s a tribute to an artist whose music and presence helped define the Moody Center from day one,” said Jeff Nickler, President of Oak View Group Austin, and General Manager of the arena. “We’re proud to honor him in a way that will be experienced for years to come.”

Strait added, “I’ve played a lot of places over the years, and to have a space like this honoring the music, the memories, and the fans—it means a lot to me. Thank you, Moody Center and Messina, for such a thoughtful dedication.”

“So many touring artists look up to George and aspire to model their career after his, but there’s only one King George. Thank you Moody Center for recognizing his unique contributions with this lounge,” shared Louis Messina.

The Troubadour stands as a lasting fixture, reflecting George Strait’s legacy and long-standing connection to Moody Center.

Legendary Hard Rockers TESLA Share Cover of Queen's "Spread Your Wings" + Official Video

Today, the acclaimed American hard rock band TESLA is proud to share a new cover of Queen's 1977 classic, "Spread Your Wings," taken from their upcoming album, 'Homage,' set for release on July 17, 2026, via Frontiers Music Srl. Marking a full-circle moment in their storied career, the album finds the band returning to their roots with a collection of covers honoring some of rock’s most timeless hits.

Bassist, keyboardist, pianist, and backing vocalist Brian Wheat shares:

 "'Spread Your Wings' for me was the song I always wanted to record by Queen. I always felt it was the one song they had in their catalog that should’ve been a massive hit, but wasn’t because it was overshadowed by 'We Are the Champions' and 'We Will Rock You' on the'News of the World' album. It was also a song written by John Deacon, who was the band's secret weapon and whom not many people talk about, the quiet one, shall we say."

It is remarkable to reflect on the more than 40 years since TESLA began as a cover band performing in California nightclubs before going on to write and record original material and sell millions of albums.

Much like their musical heroes — The Beatles and The Rolling Stones—artists who honed their craft by performing songs from those who came before them, TESLA followed a similar path in their early years and continues to embrace the tradition of paying tribute through cover songs today.

‘Homage,’ the band’s upcoming album, not only honors legendary artists but also provides an opportunity to showcase lead singer Jeff Keith's vocal diversity. The album stands as a thank-you expressed through music, an offering to the iconic voices and songs that shaped the band’s influences and, ultimately, their own songwriting. 

'Homage' is not about imitation, but acknowledgment, tracing the line from influence to identity, from listening to becoming. The project also arrives more than 20 years after the ‘Real to Reel’ series, a release that helped inspire the creation of a new original TESLA song, “Never Alone.”

The selected songs on 'Homage' were chosen for a variety of reasons, primarily representing some of the greatest vocalists of all time, including Elvis Presley, Freddie Mercury, Sam Cooke, David Ruffin, Etta James, and James Brown. Additional selections reflect songs the band grew up hearing on the radio and on their turntables.

On the upcoming album, TESLA shares:

 "Our new album 'Homage' is a thank-you note written in sound. An offering to the great singers and songs that shaped the music we grew up listening to, and the songs we would eventually write.
