BLACKBRIAR - RELEASE BRAND NEW SONG 'FLORIOGRAPHY'

Immerse yourself in the spellbinding world of Dutch symphonic metal band BLACKBRIAR next single release, 'Floriography'. This piece blends powerful riffs and delicate orchestrations, creating a captivating atmosphere. The lyrics evoke a hidden world where mysterious flowers carry secret messages, revealing Easter eggs throughout the melody.

Zora Cock comments: "Floriography marks the start of our upcoming third studio album. It's a song full of mystery, dark academia meets Sherlock Holmes. The song's protagonist deciphers hidden messages from a secret lover through the Victorian language of flowers, cryptic poetry, lyrical acronyms, and marks carved in trees. She may have even left some for you."

About BLACKBRIAR:

“Some say that there is beauty in darkness - terrifying visitors, worlds far gone, gothic romances, bone-chilling legends, sin-eaters, burning hearts frozen in time, songs with a misleading voice, and a truthful whisper. This and so much more for you to discover on A Dark Euphony.” Such are the words of vocalist Zora Cock about the band’s upcoming sophomore album, set to release in fall 2023 on Nuclear Blast Records. A telling sign coming from a band who has reveled in gothic beauty and metallic darkness since their onset, spanning three EPs and a full-length album, along with long-time collaborator Joost van den Broek.

Formed in 2012 by Zora Cock, René Boxem, Bart Winters, and Frank Akkerman, they crafted their first single in 2014 with 'Ready to Kill,' but it was 2015’s second single 'Until Eternity' that truly propelled them into the scene.  A sweeping track with an equally compelling and beautiful video, it continues to draw many to the act with over 20 million views since its debut. Taking advantage of the growing buzz surrounding the band, they independently recorded and released their first EP, Fractured Fairytales, as well as acquiring a second guitarist in Robin Koezen. This EP layed down an impressive foundation for the band’s ethereal and breathtaking sound and  brought about new opportunities for the act, including tour dates in The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungary, and more, where the band played alongside EPICA, HALESTORM, IN THIS MOMENT, DELAIN and MaYan.

To keep moving ahead with full control of their creative ideals, the band successfully crowdfunded their follow-up EP, We’d Rather Burn, and brought it to life in October 2018. This EP would be the first time the band worked alongside esteemed producer Joost van den Broek to arrange and produce the effort, and this fruitful collaboration allowed BLACKBRIAR’s whimsical and enigmatic sound to reach new sonic heights.  Released the same day as their self-made video for 'I’d Rather Burn,' this EP showcased a stronger sense of dreamy atmosphere and brought listeners beautifully grim tales of witches, banshees, and sea sirens.  In the time following, keyboardist Ruben Wijga (ex-Re-Vamp) took a larger role within the band and began playing shows, after being involved in the songwriting process since Fractured Fairytales.

A busy 2019 followed, the band released a haunting single in May entitled 'Snow White and Rose Red.'  A duet with Ulli Perhonen, their take on the Grimm’s fairytale featured striking cinematic visuals to accompany the spellbinding track. Continuing to dig deeper into fairytale realms, BLACKBRIAR closed the year with their third EP, Our Mortal Remains.  Ever-sharpening their intoxicating blend of storytelling and breathtaking musicianship, the EP brought about new live exposures for the act as well.  Small, sold out tours with EPICA in 2019 and 2020, as well as a sold out opening for DELAIN’s Apocalypse & Chill release show in Utrecht followed, with more future plans then being put on hold due to COVID-19.

Championing their continued independence, which included everything from songwriting, maintaining their web presence, overseeing merch, as well as shooting and producing their own videos and photos, BLACKBRIAR reached out to their ever-growing and loyal fanbase for assistance to make their full-length album a reality in 2020. Fans fervently heeded the call, reaching the € 25,000 goal in under 24 hours and ending with a total of € 70,000 and achieving all five stretch goals.  An impressive accomplishment for an independent act, which also showcases a strong internet presence with over 230,000 YouTube subscribers and 56.5 million channel views as well as 37.9 million Spotify streams and 275,000 monthly streamers on the platform.

Entering 2021, the band relinquished a bit of control in signing exclusively with Doomstar Bookings to help properly support their highly anticipated first full-length album, The Cause of Shipwreck, which released in April.  Once again recorded with renowned producer Joost van den Broek (EPICA, AYREON, POWERWOLF) at Sandlane Recording Facilities, this release showcased the band’s continued evolution into masterfully dark gothic storytelling and theatrical aesthetics that entice you into a deadly yet spellbinding musical paradise. On the live front, launching into success with six sold out Dutch club shows, they later extended into more European territories such as Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, France, and the Czech Republic as the band moved into 2022.

Despite a very successful 2021, the band still hungered for more, unleashing their latest single, 'Fairy of the Bog' in December.  A song about ‘het meisje van Yde’ (Yde girl), it’s a mixture of folklore, myth, and ancient local history wrapped into a more mystical and magical package that showcases what BLACKBRIAR does best. Due to winning ‘Drents Talent Award Culture 2021’ from ‘Stichting Kunst & Cultuur,’ BLACKBRIAR performed ‘I’d Rather Burn’ live on television together with the Dutch ‘Noordpool Orchestra in early 2022. In April, the band parted ways with founding member and bassist Frank Akkerman. Not a band to slow down, they welcomed Siebe Sol Sijpkens from The Netherlands as their new bassist.  A happy and energetic performer with a lifetime of global performances, he is a welcome addition to the act as they continue to strive forward.

With their vision looking firmly into the future, with a major label behind them, they set their sights on 2023 to conjure their most deadly siren song yet.  The band previously released the song 'Crimson Faces' to celebrate their partnership with Nuclear Blast Records, and now the world eagerly awaits the release of A Dark Euphony this fall. Set to contain 10 new original songs as well as a bonus track, they recently released their first single from it with 'My Soul’s Demise.' According to Zora, “We've had the pleasure of working with producer and musical genius Joost van den Broek, and we gave it our all to write this record and feel that this is our most complete, personal, and mature album to date.” With this in mind, the band launched a preorder campaign in April for the release, full of unique perks, which has been quite successful already. They have also been preparing on the road, with festival shows Wave Gotik Treffen, SummerBreeze, and Rock the Lakes in 2023, as well as being a special guest on CHARLOTTE WESSELS’s Club Tour.

With accolades behind them, such as being nominated three times for ‘Best Artist’ in EuroSonic/Noorderslag‘s Popgala Noord (2018, 2020, 2022), and continued fan support with current monthly streaming totals on YouTube and Spotify near 1.5 million streams, the world is primed and ready for a spectacular journey into darkness and beauty.

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX Cover Fugazi

Since banding together in 2004, Crippled Black Phoenix haven't played around when it comes to shedding light on our troubled existence. This year, Justin Greaves (ex Iron Monkey and Electric Wizard), long-time vocalist Belinda Kordic and their many collaborators are celebrating their 20th anniversary with a new two-part compilation.

While the first side of this compilation offers something slightly different than what long-time fans have come to expect,  the flip side continues the dark progressive rock band's tradition of haunting homages. Horrific Honorifics Number Two (2) includes all-new covers that range from NoMeansNo to Deep Purple, Built to Spill and Laura Branigan's Top 10 hit "Self Control".

Today, CBP are releasing a faithfully ferocious cover of "Blueprint", which Fugazi included on their widely canonized breakout album Repeater back in 1990.

Hear Crippled Black Phoenix cover "Blueprint" below.

Horrific Honorifics Number Two (2) and The Wolf Changes Its Fur But Not Its Nature come out November 29 on Season of Mist.

In true CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX fashion, the Lucy Marshall-created Banefyre cover leaves plenty to the imagination, depicting four animals seated at a table — interacting and dressed like human beings. “It’s sort of like Planet of the Apes showing what animals could do to humans,” says Greaves. “The cover was specially commissioned and is unique to the album. It’s incorporating all the classic CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX elements with the love for animals and twisting the narrative around.”

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX’s reputation was built on the back of their studio albums and live shows. The pandemic prevented the band from supporting Ellengæst, but it did provide them additional time to bring in new members to their live configuration.

“We’ve done one show since 2019,” says Greaves. “We are going to do something in Europe this year. Hopefully, we can get back on track. We’re also going to do something in the States — that’s not just talk, we’re actually going to do it. It’s well overdue. The live band is fucking amazing. We have the five of us and now we have Jordi [Farré] on drums, Paco [Fleischfresser] on synth and a really good friend of mine, Matt Crawford on bass.

“We did the Leipzig show and even though the rehearsals were better than the show itself, that lineup, our live band, is so good. Because we haven’t been under pressure to put a live band together since 2019 and spent so long talking to people, we’ve got a better band from those results. Out of disaster, we’ve got quite a good, positive thing.”

The Wolf Changes Its Fur But Not Its Nature & Horrific Honorifics Number Two(2) are a double album celebrating the 20 year existence of CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX.

Hillhaven Drop "This Time Tomorrow" Video

HILLHAVEN have unleashed their seventh single "This Time Tomorrow," which premiered over at SiriusXM's Octane.

 Watch and listen below.

"We've been releasing angry songs for the past seven months and we're due for a palate cleanser," says singer Chris Kelly. "'This Time Tomorrow' is an anthem of healing and hope; a song about making it through the darkest times of your life and finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. It seems only fitting to finish the year out with a future-focused track"

It follows the buzzy prior singles "Damned to Dream," "The God You Think You Are," "GAPS," "SYCOPHANTS," "LIAR," and "Temple & Tomb."

The Hillhaven lineup is comprised of  the aforementioned Kelly (Alustrium, ex-Galactic Empire, and who is rumored to play for Babymetal's band) on vocals, as well as From Ashes to New's Maty Madiro on drums; Ricky Armellino on guitars; live From Ashes to New member Jimmy Bennett on guitars; and bassist Jaime GoWell.

Even with seven singles under their belt and in your ears, there is even more to come from Hillhaven in 2025... so keep on watching this space.

NAPALM DEATH are credited as pioneers of the grindcore genre by incorporating elements of crust punk and death metal, using a noise-filled sound that uses heavily distorted, down-tuned guitars, grinding overdrive bass, high-speed tempos, blast beats, and vocals that consist of incomprehensible growls or high-pitched shrieks. Their music features extremely short songs, fast tempos, and sociopolitical lyrics. Even after exerting an indelible influence on the entire world of heavy music for nearly 40 years, there is still no band on Earth that sounds like Napalm Death. Not just pioneers, but an enduring benchmark for invention and fearlessness in heavy and experimental music of all kinds, the Birmingham legends are still hurtling forward at full pelt.

THE MELVINS are one of modern music’s most influential bands. Having formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington, the group - founded by vocalist/guitarist Buzz Osborne, with drummer Dale Crover joining a year later - has been credited with merging the worlds of punk rock and heavy music, forming a new subgenre all their own. Over their 40-plus-year career, they’ve released more than 30 original albums, numerous live records, and far too many to count singles and rarities. Recent releases include 2024’s 'Tarantula Heart,' an album that Osborne wrote songs based on a series of improvisational live sessions, the six-song 2022 'Bad Mood Rising,' and 'Five Legged Dog' (2021), an ambitious 36-track acoustic collection that reimagines their heaviest songs alongside covers of their favorite artists.

Atmospheric Black Metal Four-Piece GRIMA Announces New Studio Album, 'Nightside', out February 28, 2025!

With 10 years of experience behind them, Siberian atmospheric black metal legion GRIMA will release their sixth album and Napalm Records debut, 'Nightside', on February 28, 2025. After several shows across Europe, including some with fast-rising German death metal force Kanonenfieber, GRIMA are set to honor the spirit of the Siberian Forest, Taiga, with their impending next chapter. . In addition to their unforgettable sound echoing the mesmerizing cold of the Siberian evening wilderness, the band’s eerie, piercing look – towering like living trees with intimidating carved wooden masks and branched fingers – adds another haunting element to their brutal yet beautiful output.

Alongside the album announcement, GRIMA present their first output and reveal the new single “Skull Gatherers”, an atmospheric and haunting black metal track that conjures powerful imagery of inevitability, cold, and eternal slumber. “Skull Gatherers” is underlined with a bewitching official music video and serves as a perfect soundtrack for the gray season.

GRIMA on “Skull Gatherers”:

“'Skull Gatherers' tells the story of the Skull Gatherers, particularly devoted servants of GRIMA, who are dedicated to harvesting trophies from the bodies of the deceased and weaving them into an endless collection. Each lyric and chord resonate with the somber silence and chill of the earth, the final resting place for those who have found peace in the Taiga. The song transcends listeners into a realm of nocturnal shadows, rugged nature, and mysticism – the perfect soundtrack for those prepared to confront what lies beyond the boundary between life and death.”

Watch the Official Music Video for “Skull Gatherers”

The brand-new single, “Skull Gatherers”, is constructed with folk instruments such as the Russian accordion bayan, but GRIMA also incorporate death metal-like growls into their delivery on “Impending Death Premonition”. While fans of their dark, deep, and melancholic sound can look forward to tales like in “Flight Of The Silver Storm” and “The Nightside”, GRIMA also showcase focused effort and skill on the album’s more brief, accessible offerings. “Beyond The Dark Horizon” and “Curse Of The Void” are as dreamy and complex as their big brothers, but also satisfy as more direct black metal anthems. With their mysterious visual aura and intriguing sound inspired by the unforgiving nature around them, GRIMA continue to prove themselves as an unmissable band to watch within the genre with their new album 'Nightside'.

GRIMA about the album:

GRIMA is a secretive cult devoted to an ancient, long-forgotten Siberian forest deity, lying in wait, shrouded within the endless embrace of the Taiga. Our music is a ritual of reverence to the ancient magic of the forest, an endless dance of mysterious entities and ancient spirits, a beautiful and terrifying legend cloaked in the form of Siberian Atmospheric Black Metal. 'Nightside' is a mysterious and melodic recording, infused with the mesmerizing cold of the Siberian night wilderness—brutal, yet equally beautiful and irresistibly alluring. A mysterious nocturnal land where winds slam the shutters of cabins in abandoned villages, guiding stars only lead you deeper into the silver storm, and a dead man is knocking his claw on an ancient pine, counting down the remaining time of yet another lost.”

Pre-order your copy of 'Nightside' NOW

Mixing, mastering, and helming 'Nightside’s harsh, powerful but also clear-as-an-icicle sound is black metal-experienced producer Vladimir Lehtinen. The two driving forces behind the band’s unique sound, Vilhelm and Morbius, both deliver different aspects of the band’s impactful, massive guitar riffs, leads and melodies, while Vilhelm also soars as the voice of the woods. Guest musicians Vlad (drums) and Serpentum (guitars) also join the fold both in studio and on stage.

GRIMA are:

Vilhelm - vocals, guitars

Morbius - guitars

ABOUT KREATOR

Decades into their game-changing career, German metal legends Kreator find themselves more successful and influential than ever. They’ve stuck to their guns, weathered the trends and outlasted their peers – never once wavering from the ferocious noise that excited them as teens. If anything, that thirst for sonic warfare is just as strong, if not stronger, today. Where others have suffered from creative malnourishment and artistic uncertainty, something which even metal’s biggest and best are prone to, Kreator have always charged full steam ahead – thanks to the red-eyed conviction and fearless determination of founding singer and guitarist Miland ‘Mille’ Petrozza. On 1985 debut Endless Pain, the Essen innovators created the template for extreme noise to come, fusing elements of thrash and black metal in ways that had never been heard before. Their sophomore album of the following year, Pleasure To Kill, became one of the landmark albums of 1986 – making metal history alongside key releases from Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth. And onwards they marched, bringing hellish anthems to the masses in every album that followed, with a track record few could ever rival.

The last decade has been a particularly exciting time for the group, with 2012’s Phantom Antichrist proving how they could embrace modern production techniques and move with the times without forsaking the underground spirit and defiance which made them a household name in the first place. Its successor, 2017’s Gods Of Violence, saw them topping the German charts for the very first time in their career, a feat virtually unheard for a band of such thunderous intensity.

They returned in 2022 with fifteenth opus Hate Über Alles – which marked their first studio album with Frédéric Leclercq (ex-Dragonforce, Sinsaenum) on bass, joining Mille, guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö and drummer Jürgen ‘Ventor’ Reil – the metal titans are once again channelling an unholy heaviness strong enough to tilt the earth off-axis.

Jaye Jayle Announce New Album "After Alter" + Share Single "Father Fiction"

Kentucky-based gothic blues ensemble Jaye Jayle have announced the release of After Alter, their fifth full-length album, on January 31 through Berlin's Pelagic Records. Pre-order it here.

Originally formed as an unfiltered outlet for the sounds inside the head of band leader Evan Patterson, Jaye Jayle has always been an unpredictable entity. In the beginning, the songs were short and lighthearted, written on acoustic guitar with no plans to release them or even perform them publicly but, within a year, the private solo project had evolved into a full band and a full-length album: 2016's haunting post-punk, kraut-blues debut House Cricks and Other Excuses To Get Out. Time is indeed a fickle thing, as Jaye Jayle's forthcoming fifth album will attest.

An astounding collection of musical memories and emotional fragments, After Alter is a body of work drawn together from previous recording sessions and previous lives in order to chart a driving, cathartic course into territories unknown. The excitement of nascent creative relationships collides with the crushing demise of turbulent personal ones as pivotal moments and unfinished refrains from the band’s rollercoaster career as outsider artists are reworked and reframed as a powerful of what Jaye Jayle is and alway has been: the raw, undiluted outpouring of Patterson’s creative mind. A host of fleeting feelings dragged once again to the surface; at once volatile, gut wrenching and serene, expect the unexpected.

Lead single and After Alter's opening track "Father Fiction," for example, dives headlong into the fables and factious ideologies of organised religion with hardened gazes and wry smiles as rolling drums and repetitive discordant guitar refrains spiral ever down into the labyrinth of meaning and misinterpretation before the album careens off to different places, times and people from Jaye Jayle’s past.

As much as After Alter serves as a document of the band’s history, the album also represents a new beginning. By creatively exorcising these poignant moments, Jay Jayle have opened themselves up to new inspirations and there is already so much more to come.

The tour, featuring special guest Avery Anna, will conclude on March 22 in Edmonton, AB, Canada.

“With new music coming early next year, there is energy and excitement around us and our whole team,” said lead singer Matt Thomas. “We wanted to bring that energy to our fans as soon as we could, so we decided to do a headline tour starting in Feb 2025. We’ll be bringing the party back to some of the cities we played on the Kane Brown tour as well as some cities we’ve never been to. Can’t wait to kick off 2025 with the Parmalee Famalee.”

Their friend and collaborator, Avery Anna, is joining Parmalee on the road next year. Called a “towering, soul-baring tunesmith” by Billboard Magazine, Anna first connected with Parmalee on “Forget You,” from their 2021 For You album and most recently, “Lose You Again” from her album Breakup Over Breakfast, which was released earlier this year.

Earlier this year, Parmalee toured with Tyler Hubbard and Kane Brown on the “In The Air” Tour. Of their show, Chicago Concert Reviews wrote, “Parmalee brought loads of its own southern-infused hooks and harmonies from “For You,” culminating in the smashes “Carolina” and “Take My Name,” to enhance an already potent combination.”

About Parmalee:

As the most-played group/band on Country Radio in 2023, Parmalee is one of Country Music's most successful acts with four #1 singles, multiple platinum records, and over 1 Billion on-demand streams.  Comprised of brothers Matt and Scott Thomas (lead vocals/guitar and drums, respectively), Cousin Barry Knox (bass), and life-long friend Josh McSwain (guitar/keyboard), the North Carolina natives first topped the charts with “Carolina,” followed by their PLATINUM-certified No. 1 single with Blanco Brown, “Just the Way.” They followed with “Take My Name,” Billboard’s Most Played Country Song of 2022. They recently scored their third consecutive #1 single with “Girl In Mine,” Billboard’s 8th Most Played Country Song of 2023. Those three #1’s and 15 other tracks, including their current and Top 5 and climbing single “Gonna Love You,” are available on their latest album For You 2.

Earning over 149 first-week Mediabase stations (156 overall), the commanding new track is Shelton’s debut release on BBR Music Group / BMG Nashville and kicks off an iconic new chapter to his outstanding career.

“I moved to Nashville the month after I graduated from high school to sing country music and hopefully get to hear one of my songs on the radio,” said Shelton. “After all these years, it’s still exciting, and thanks to fans for listening and coming out to shows. I can’t wait to play ‘Texas’ live!”

To view a surprise celebration for the milestone accolade that was hosted earlier today for Blake at BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville, click HERE.

Released Friday (11/15), “Texas” was an immediate hit across all platforms, including People Magazine, which called the new song “rollicking.” At the same time, Country Now said, “Sonically, ‘Texas’ breaks new ground for Shelton, redefining his sound by exploring fresh creative boundaries.”

Produced by Shelton’s longtime, award-winning producer Scott Hendricks and written by Johnny Clawson, Kyle Sturrock, Josh Dorr and Lalo Guzman, the infectious groove finds a man left in the dust by a free-spirited woman who has no clue where she has gone, but speculates she’s probably in Texas. Putting a fresh twist on the age-old theme of lost love with a gentle nod to George Strait, who knows best where all the exes go, it’s drenched in classic Texas charm, enticing listeners to sing along.

Many people across the music industry said that Skillet would never make it — blurring the lines between Christian music and mainstream rock, the band was "too spiritual," "too positive," and had female musicians, which was almost unheard of in rock 'n' roll. Now, 28 years and 22 million album sales later, SKILLET continues to defy all odds. T

he band has sold out arenas in 32 countries across five continents, including their first-ever, recent nearly 100% sold out Middle East tour.

As testimony to their global impact, check out this video featuring fans from all over the world talking about what the band coming to their city and country means to them.

With smash hits like the 5x platinum "Monster" and 2x platinum "Feel Invincible," which claimed the #1 spot on Rock Radio, Skillet's unapologetic messages of hope and redemption have been spotlighted by brands like WWE, Marvel, ESPN, NFL, CONAN, USA Today, and The New York Times.

With over 13.2 billion streams as proof, Skillet has won over the hearts of fans around the world who join together to celebrate over two decades of raw, powerful rock from a band few expected to succeed. This unfiltered reflection from founding member John Cooper chronicles Skillet's unparalleled music career with honest commentary, never-before-seen candids, glossy concert shots, the best (and worst) album covers, and beloved Panhead fan art from the band's archives.

Expected to only extend SKILLET’S formidable legacy, the band released their 12th studio project, REVOLUTION, on November 1st.  Streams for focus tracks "Unpopular," "All That Matters" and "Ash In The Wind" have soared, with the music leaving critics raving, calling it a "hard-rocking freight train," "fantastic" and "exactly what fans want."

SKILLET will be the headline act for WINTER JAM 2025, hitting 38 cities across the U.S. Full routing and line up at Skillet.com.

ABOUT SKILLET:
After nearly three decades, eleven albums, and thousands of shows worldwide, Skillet play louder, fight harder, and sound more rebellious than ever. As of 2024, the band have received two-time GRAMMY® Award nominations, picked up a Billboard Music Award, and landed three albums in the Top 5 of the Billboard 200. Selling over 22 million units worldwide, they have notched multiplatinum, platinum, or gold RIAA certifications for a total of 12 singles and four full-length albums. Not to mention, they have regularly attracted 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify, boasting "one of the most-streamed rock songs of all-time" with the 5x-platinum "Monster." Their presence has impressively surged throughout popular culture with syncs by WWE, Marvel, ESPN, and NFL in addition to coverage from USA Today, The New York Times, and more. As a live force of nature, they have touched down on four continents and in 26 countries, packing arenas everywhere from the Middle East to Russia. Not to mention, Skillet expanded their world with the graphic novel series EDEN. The first installment stood out as Z2 Comics' best-selling book of all-time. Now, the global hard rock quartet — John Cooper [lead vocals, bass], Korey Cooper [guitar, keys], Jen Ledger [drums, vocals], and Seth Morrison [lead guitar] — deliver an insurgent, infectious, and inimitable body of work with their twelfth full-length offering and first-ever independent album, REVOLUTION, led by the single "Unpopular" and focus tracks "All That Matters" and "Ash In The Wind."

Saor Announce New Album 'Amidst the Ruins'

As the mists of time part like whispers through the Scottish Highlands, Saor weaves a new historic tapestry. Inspired by a hilly walk through an older world, Andy Marshall and his band of Caledonian warriors craft a majestic symphony that welds the intensity of black metal with Celtic folk melodies on their upcoming new album Amidst the Ruins

Watch the stunning and scenic music video for the title track below

Amidst the Ruins is out February 7th, 2025 on Season of Mist.

Guided by the spirit of Caledonia, Saor's latest opus captures the stark contrast between the echoes of a once-great heritage and the distractions of our modern lives. "Amidst the Ruins" draws listeners into a reverent reflection of Scotland's sacred past, where the very ground holds stories of strength and identity that's now overshadowed by fleeting, shallow pursuits.

In Amidst the Ruins, the warriors of SAOR cast a clarion call to awaken from the lethargy of modern existence, to reclaim the essence of a heritage laid asunder. From the vibrant resonance of ancient battles to the hushed despair of Glencoe's betrayed souls, every note spills forth like blood of the fallen seeping into the heathered earth.

As we stand on the cusp of this new era, Amidst the Ruins, the latest chronicle unfolds. SAOR's watchful eye turns to the horizon, the whispering woods, the twilight skies, and the sleeping stones bearing seers’ dreams, evoking the indomitable spirit of the realm. In their hands, the past is resurrected; its tales to be retold for those who would heed the call—SAOR, remain the ceaseless bards of Caledonia unbroken.

Iconic electronic duo DELERIUM and CLAN OF XYMOX release 'In The Deep' Remix feat. KANGA

Legendary Vancouver-based electronic duo Delerium and Dutch darkwave pioneers Clan of Xymox have combined their talents to deliver a stunning new version of 'In The Deep', a song lifted from Delerium's 2023 album 'Signs'. Featuring LA-based artist KANGA as vocalist and lyricist, this remix offers a fresh reinterpretation of this song with a darker bent.

Delerium was formed in 1987 by Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber, who had made a name for themselves with the highly influential electronic-industrial group Front Line Assembly (Leeb was also an early member of Skinny Puppy). Originally intended as a side project for exploring dark ethereal ambient trance, voiceless soundscapes and electronic pop music, Delerium ultimately took on a long and beautiful life of its own.

As with 'Signs' and their 2016 album ‘Mythologie’, Delerium released this new single via iconic alternative music label Metropolis Records, which is home to Front Line Assembly and also just released Leeb's debut solo album 'Model Kollapse' (featuring appearances by Shannon Hemmett and Jason Corbett of post-punk outfit ACTORS, and long-term collaborator Mimi Page).

Upholding their penchant for ethereal, downtempo music, their exquisite 'Signs' album(recorded and mastered by Greg Reely) features stunning vocals by Mimi Page, Inna Walters, Phildel and Emily Haines (of Metric). "A while back - like months ago - we had some remixes done from our latest Delerium album. All of the remixes were released except this one by Clan of Xymox," says Bill Leeb.

‘In The Deep’ was an ideal choice for working with Clan of Xymox - “a ballad about loss and the engulfing waters of deep mourning” (Post-Punk.com). The accompanying video, created by Tim Hill, adds dream-like to the aquatic theme explored in the clip for the original version, along with hallucinogenic visuals that incorporate paintings by long-term Delerium artwork designer Carylann Loepkky and imagery by Matt Lombard.

"This was the first time we worked with KANGA. who wrote the lyrics and sang this song. This is a very personal outlook and moving performance from KANGA, yet hopeful in the end. This is also our first time working with Ronny Moorings aka Clan of Xymox. As luck wold have it, we are label mates on Metropolis Records, which helped immensely to get things rolling," says Bill Leeb.

"We were looking for a more ethereal darkwave sound so we approached them and really got the result we were looking for - to keep in mood with the song and its more complex somber aspect. Tim Hill provided the ethereal visionary video ambience, setting the right mood".

Since their 1994 album 'Semantic Spaces', Delerium has received two Juno awards and grown to massive fame through collaborations, involving vocals by Leigh Nash (Sixpence None the Richer), Lisa Gerrard (Dead Can Dance), Kirsty Hawkshaw (Opus III), Emily Haines (Metric), Jacqui Hunt (Single Gun Theory), Matthew Sweet and Kristy Thirsk (Rose Chronicles).

Their collaboration with Sarah McLachlan produced the worldwide hit 'Silence', which reached #1 in numerous countries and whose remixes are hailed among the greatest trance songs of all time (with the Tiësto remix having been voted the 12th-greatest dance track of all time by Mixmag readers).

'In The Deep (Clan of Xymox Remix)' is out now, available everywhere digitally, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.

South Carolina's THE YETS share providential single "3's" with superb video, previewing debut album

South Carolina-based alternative rock outfit The Yets presents their new single "3's", an evocative, haunting song that recounts the story of a circus performer teetering on a highwire, using her precarious balance as a powerful metaphor for the challenges of life.

Previewing their debut album 'Pinup Girl', to be released in February, this new single arrives on the trail of the reverie-laden lead track, 'Define The Man'.  Both offerings showcase their evolution as artists, blending modern and classic rock elements to create music that feels both fresh and timeless.

Based in Myrtle Beach, The Yets features the creative synergy of guitarist-producer Craig Anderson Snook and vocalist Robin Wilson, both natives of the state. Their collaboration fuses Craig’s dynamic guitar work and production expertise with Robin’s rich, emotive vocals, resulting in a sound that is both powerful and distinctive.  Further highlighted by their multi-instrumental performance abilities, The Yets have developed a sound which is truly their own.  From composing to performing to production, Craig and Robin are a “duo” in the most genuine sense of the word.

As the song "3's" unfolds, the lyrics become a vivid illustration of her life as a performer – each line reflecting the beauty and danger of her art.  The imagery of the high wire evokes a sense of tension and vulnerability, symbolizing the constant struggle to maintain balance amidst the ups and downs of humanity.  She reflects on the thrill of the spotlight and the applause that once filled the air, eerily acknowledging the solitude that accompanies the act.

The chorus introduces the central theme of “3’s”, capturing the idea that life’s challenges often come in waves-trinity, calamity, and the search for serenity amidst it all.  Her realization that no one can save her from herself metaphorically deepens as she ponders the illusion of control and the fragility of her existence. Ultimately, the performer recognizes the beauty of her struggles yet understands she must face them alone.  Capturing the essence of resilience and the complexity of life, the song leaves its listeners with a sense of empathy and introspection, as they traverse high wires of their own.

"Life is a three-ring circus, where ego and pride take center-stage, performing illusions of perfection until the act unravels, revealing the calamity beneath. This song captures the tension between the false perfection of the ego and the inevitable unraveling of that facade, and also explores the discord between the constructed self-image and the underlying truth of human vulnerability," says Robin Wilson.

Craig Anderson Snook adds, "This song took on new dimensions for me when we did the video.  Robin's theme evolved into images that conjured even more "3's" in my mind ... earth, fire, sky ... birth, death, afterlife... body, soul, spirit ... the list could go on.  Musically, it crosses a few interesting borders from doom, to joy, to mystery; in sound."

In 2022, The Yets made their debut with a critically acclaimed eponymous EP, praised for its melodic sophistication and emotional resonance. They are now releasing their full-length album, "Pinup Girl", which showcases their evolution as artists, blending modern and classic rock elements to create a sound that feels both fresh and timeless.  Their music is marked by lush, atmospheric instrumentation, soulful melodies, and a seamless fusion of modern and classic rock influences, establishing The Yets as a distinctive presence in the alternative rock scene.

Craig Anderson Snook, who played guitar for several popular bands in the 1980s, such as Gross Negligence, brings decades of musical experience to the duo.  Robin, well known for her extensive touring with rock groups Skirt and  Bachelors of Art (B.O.A.), adds depth and passion to their music. Craig’s intricate compositions provide the perfect backdrop for Robin’s voice to soar, creating immersive and atmospheric landscapes that push the boundaries of alternative rock.

As of November 19, the "3's" single will be available fine online music stores and streamable via Spotify. The full album, out February 7, can be obtained digitally or on CD directly from the band via Bandcamp.

Ashley McBryde Searches for Connection Among Lost Legends & Empty Horizons with "Ain't Enough Cowboy Songs" on 12/6

Hailed as “country’s most down-to-earth songwriter” by The New York Times, CMA Female Vocalist of the Year nominee Ashley McBryde offers poetic nostalgia with “Ain’t Enough Cowboy Songs,” set for release Friday, December 6 via Warner Music Nashville. Pre-save/pre-add HERE.

Written by McBryde with Chris Harris and Patrick Savage, “Ain’t Enough Cowboy Songs” emerged from a shared feeling of loss and a desire to reconnect with timeless principles, longing for meaning and clarity in a changing world.

“In the last several years, we’ve all been feeling like something is missing. I noticed it in myself and then noticed it in most people I came in contact with. And we don’t always know how to articulate it,” McBryde admits. “For us, this song helped us do that. We are all starving to reconnect with the things that made us who we are. Sometimes that comes as our sense of justice and duty, maybe for some of us it’s work ethic, for some of us it’s a sense of community.

“When we got together to write, the three of us realized the cowboys we looked up to growing up made us want to be the way that we are – the music associated with them and the lives they lead,” she explains. “Those things fully embodied what I am starving for. There’s no substitute for hard work, resilience, kindness, standing up for and with folks in their weaker moments. There’s no substitute for knowing when to take it on the chin and when to give it. And no matter what else we may try to fill that hole with…there ain’t enough of it to ever resemble the real thing.”
