THE DEAD DAISIES ROCK WITH BLACKSTAR AMPLIFICATION

Renowned rock band The Dead Daisies and Blackstar Amplification, leading manufacturer of guitar amplifiers, proudly announce their new partnership. Band members Doug Aldrich, Michael Devin and David Lowy look forward to being powered by Blackstar Amps for all their live shows. This exciting venture coincides with the recent announcement of their highly anticipated upcoming 2023 world tour supporting the release of their “Best Of” Album.

"We're incredibly excited to be working with The Dead Daisies and helping power their sound across the globe. They're an incredibly exciting band composed of world-class musicians, making this partnership a natural fit," says James Evans, Product Category Manager at Blackstar Amps. The band members are equally thrilled about the amplifiers, with iconic Rock guitarist extraordinaire Doug Aldrich expressing his enthusiasm, stating: “Everyone knows the range is extremely strong but it’s not until you play them yourself that you know how badass they are. It’s all in the feel. The HTStage 100 in particular is an all-round beast of an amp! It can cover basically anything from buttery clean tones to the ballsiest sound you have ever heard.”

Michael Devin (of Whitesnake fame) joins The Dead Daisies for the first time and embarks on this new musical chapter. Michael chose Blackstar Amplification's Unity Elite range of bass amplifiers to fuel his performances. Michael states: "Blackstar amps pack a mean punch... lots of tonal options for a bassist in a rock band!" His endorsement of Blackstar Amplification is a testament to the brand's exceptional quality and versatility, perfectly complementing his dynamic style and musical vision. The Dead Daisies guitarist, David Lowy had this to say: “I’m really loving Blackstar, its tone is big, fat, and round...rock like it’s supposed to sound”.

Fans will have the opportunity to witness A Decade Of Rock and electrifying performances, with the incomparable front man John Corabi returning to the fold with band mates Doug, David, Brian and Michael. Powered by their new Blackstar Amps, The Daisies head out on a tour across America, Canada, Japan, and Europe from August this year. Full tour dates and information can be found at:

Jenna Paulette Announces Partnership with Justin Boots

Paulette Joins Reba McEntire and George Strait as the
Only Artists Partnered w/ the Beloved Boot Brand

Jenna Paulette’s trademark mix of grit and vulnerability are simply a result of her Texas cowgirl upbringing. It’s that genuineness that has endeared Paulette to Music City, making her a perfect fit for her recently announced partnership with beloved cowboy boot brand, Justin Boots. The deal places Paulette alongside country icons Reba McEntire and George Strait as the only entertainers partnered with the brand.

For Paulette, the partnership is a dream realized. Having worn the boots while growing up and working cattle, Paulette reflects, “Justin Boots…gosh I wore Ropers to work in and that’s why I put ‘new Justin Boots’ in my song ‘Country In the Girl.’ I really believe that song helped me find my footing with my audience.

“This partnership means the world to me, from what Justin does for Rodeo Athletes to the way they represent agriculture and support the future of it. It’s an honor to get to further the heart of their brand together. I can’t wait to see what we do.”

“We are excited to announce our partnership with Jenna Paulette. Jenna’s unwavering commitment to authentic storytelling and her deep connection with her fans perfectly aligns with the core values of Justin Boots,” said Taylor Morton, Public Relations Manager at Justin Boots. “This partnership goes beyond just boots - it signifies a shared dedication to celebrating the western way of life. We are immensely proud to welcome Jenna to the Justin family and are thrilled to be part of Jenna’s journey.”

“I’m so honored to be named among just two other artists that have represented the cowboy so authentically in country music. George Strait and Reba McEntire have been on the forefront of my mind as an artist as I have charted my path,” Paulette adds in awe. “They live what they sing, nothing can be more important to me than that, and now my name will be on a short list with theirs as partners for the Justin Brand. What a dream.“

Paulette arrived March 31 with her debut album The Girl I Was, which gained critical acclaim, with Billboard noting she’s a “worthy contender in a new crop of artists weaving their unique perspectives and backgrounds into their music.” A 2022 CMT Next Women of Country and March Apple Country Riser of the Month, Paulette reflects on heartbreak and redemption with a delivery that’s reminiscent of her greatest musical heroes – Gene Autry, The Chicks and Miranda Lambert among them.

About Jenna Paulette:
A CMT Next Women of Country in 2022 and Apple Music’s Country Riser of the Month for March, singer-songwriter Jenna Paulette — a cowgirl who came of age amid the gritty realities of ranch life — is part of Nashville’s growing wave of female artists who are rewriting the rules and charting their own paths. Her finely calibrated blend of toughness and sensitivity is on full display in tracks like “Country in the Girl” and “Pretty Ugly.” Her most recent single, "Anywhere the Wind Blows," gives a glimpse into Paulette's songwriting abilities and is a whimsical reflection on her mainstream presentation of western living. Paulette settled in Nashville in 2015, where she struck up a mentorship with Ashley Gorley – a veteran songwriter with 50+ No. 1 tunes under his belt – which ultimately led to her publishing deal with Sea Gayle Music in June 2021. Since collaborating with songwriters Will Bundy, Ashley McBryde, Rhett Akins and Jessie Jo Dillion, as well as opening for Mason Ramsey, Parmalee, John Michael Montgomery, Clay Walker and most recently Aaron Watson, Paulette has landed brand partnerships with Justin Boots, Boot Barn, Oak and Eden Whiskey and Ranch Water. Last year, Paulette continued to spotlight her authentic western lifestyle, performing the national anthem at the Professional Bull Riding World Finals; as well as day working on ranches across Texas, securing opening slots and performing in multiple festivals including CMA Fest. With her debut album, The Girl I Was, available now, Paulette continues building her audience as fans get a deeper look into who she is as an artist.

“The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.” - Rudyard Kipling

In an era that is designed to beat down and weaken the individual, Black Flame Eternal is an album that represents strength, empowerment, and total opposition. With mounting pressure to engage in modern societal tribalism, Cloak invokes a spiritual rebellion that exists beyond good and evil with album number three.

“All of our albums are created with a spiritual focus, dealing with how we see life, death, and everything in between. I think the earlier records dealt more with the mysteries that surrounded delving deeper into the world of dark spirituality, whereas the new material has taken what we’ve learned and used it to move forward with force,” says Cloak frontman Scott Taysom of the record’s underlying philosophy. “Black Flame Eternal is a statement of spiritual empowerment in every sense. For the first time we want people to grasp on to this sentiment, instead of keeping it completely personal within our world of Cloak. The themes and the sheer power can be felt much more within the songs that this album contains."

“Our goal is complete spiritual liberation, which is where true power and freedom exists,” he adds. “We’ve reached a point in history where people are forced to pick a side or to join a team, so to speak. Cloak stands in complete opposition to this. We aim to be a giant middle finger in the face of the empty modern world.”

While Cloak might rage against societal conventions, the Atlanta quartet embraces the rebellious and time-tested traditions of heavy metal. Whether it be the conjuring the chaotic spirit of Swedish black metal purveyors Watain and Dissection, summoning the deep, dark and sensual groove of Danzig, or evoking the raw speed and raucous energy of Motörhead, the influence of metal’s founding fathers is deep within Cloak’s DNA. Cloak’s charm, however, does not merely lie within its romanticism of the past, but rather is the way each of these genres has shaped Cloak’s own personal identity. And with Black Flame Eternal, the record sees Cloak continue to strengthen its own unique established sound.

Cloak recognizes the importance of a band’s third record, with Taysom explaining, “These influences will always be important to us, as they are some of the best and most important bands of our time. On the other hand, what is so special about getting to the third record of our career is that inspiration starts to move inwards. We had enough experience and material at this point to really know what we do best and how we can utilize these skills in the best way possible. If you look at some of the most iconic bands, their third albums were massive steps towards greatness. So to us, we feel our third record will be a very important one in our time as a band.”

The Atlantan’s evolution is evident in the fury displayed on Black Flame Eternal, which flawlessly compliments the grandiose melodic atmosphere. “This was a conscious effort. Early on before the album even started, I knew it was going to be a much more aggressive and powerful album. I wanted to take a step away from certain sounds and add a bit of brutality back in. The overall vibe matches who we are much more, so it was only fitting to move towards this sound. It almost feels like we are going back to our roots as people in certain ways,” explains Taysom.

Black Flame Eternal follows up sophomore effort The Burning Dawn, which was released in November 2019, with hell unleashing its fury on the globe just a few short months later. As plans to tour the new album around the world came to a screeching halt, the band did not stagger or falter, and instead used this gift of time to write. When reflecting upon the lost years and its impact, Taysom seemingly embraces the situation with little regrets, “Considering Cloak is a sacred space for us, these exterior things did not have as much of an impact as one might think. But it was impossible to ignore some of what was going on throughout these tumultuous years. It’s bound to affect people’s personal lives and the way the mind works during these interesting times. One thing that it did greatly affect was the fact that we could not promote The Burning Dawn properly after the one U.S. tour we did with 1349. We feel this hurt the record, but there was nothing we could do. We were one of the earliest out of the gate after venues started to open back up, and we’ve been continuing to tour in promotion of that album all the way up until now.”

Cloak utilized every minute of this time to focus on fully realizing its vision for Black Flame Eternal. “The initial stage of the writing process started in January of 2020, and lasted all the way until May 2021. It was the longest spanning album process for us so far, with many long days, nights, and weeks trying to piece the songs together the best we could.” While the record did not come together swiftly or easily, the care and attention put into its creation is evident in its powerful composition.

Making up for lost time, these road warriors have already embarked on several high profile North American tours since the autumn of 2021, commanding audiences in every major city with their chaos magick. Each performance merges the spirit of black metal with the backbone of rock ‘n’ roll as the band consistently delivers a blistering set from start to finish. Taysom describes Cloak’s live approach as “a mixture of ethereal atmosphere and total abrasive chaos. The mixture of these two opposing energies is where Cloak lies; the meeting of high and low. To us, this is where the most interesting moments happen, both emotionally and physically.”

With no borders or boundaries, Cloak is ready to embark on this new chapter as the leader of its own pack. The band bows to no one, forging its own path as one of the governing metal forces of this decade as ‘Black Flame Eternal’ promises to scorch the earth and leave its hallowed mark.

CYNIC Co-Headlining Special North American Tour with ATHEIST

CYNIC are heading off on a special co-headlining tour of North America with fellow progressive music icons ATHEIST.

CYNIC is celebrating the 30th anniversary of 'Focus' by playing the whole album. Joining Paul Masvidal on stage are guitarist Max Phelps (Exist, Death to All), bassist Brandon Giffin (The Faceless, The Zenith Passage), drummer Matt Lynch (Nova Collective, Intronaut) and keyboardist Zeke Kaplan. They'll also be paying tribute to late members Sean Reinert and Sean Malone.

"We'll be celebrating our lifelong journey together," says Masvidal. "Don't miss a night of Cynic and Atheist magic!"

"This is something Paul and I have been talking about since we were in our early 20s," says Kelly Schaefer, ATHEIST's vocalist and guitarist. "It's surreal to share a 30-year milestone together".

ATHEIST will be performing songs from their first three albums, including some that they haven't performed in decades.

This special 30th anniversary tour is presented by
Pull the Plug Patches, who are longtime fans of both bands. "It's an honor to be the presenting sponsor for such a landmark tour between two of the godfathers of progressive death metal," says PPP's Simon. "'Unquestionable Presence' blew me away the very first time that I heard it and I  bought 'Focus' the day it came out. Both of those albums are all-time favorites of mine".

CYNIC's latest release Ascension Codes is a remarkably far-reaching work, and if nothing else, a clear indication that they have landed in a place of mastery. The album, paradoxically, acts as both swan song and rebirth.

'Ascension Codes' can be ordered at the
Season of Mist E-Shop, the CYNIC Bandcamp, and official CYNIC shop. The album can be streamed/downloaded HERE.

Attainment

Cynic’s continual state of development has met its share of challenges over the years, hurdles that threatened to dismantle the entity’s forward surge. Yet through hurricanes, breakups, and assorted acrimony both personal and existential, it remains inspired to create.

Their name is synonymous with what it means to be truly progressive in music. Cynic’s top-tier performance acumen and cerebral/spiritual/yogic themes finds them inhabiting a corner of the musical spectrum all their own. Their Venn diagram shows intersections with death metal, prog rock, thrash metal, experimental, new age, jazz fusion, and a myriad of other sonic expressions.

Debut album, Focus (1993), is a certified classic. Although that era ended with transformation into the short-lived Portal, and then a further splinter toward Aeon Spoke, Cynic’s reunion-era has found them embraced in a way that proves how ahead of the times they were in the ‘90s. Through monuments such as the Traced in Air (2008) and Kindly Bent to Free Us (2014) albums, the Carbon-Based Anatomy and Re-Traced EPs, and a surprising rebirth with the “Humanoid” single of 2018, the Cynic legacy remains untarnished. Yet early in the creation cycle for their fourth full-length album, they experienced horrible events that tested the entity’s resolve.

Ascension

The year 2020 will go down in history as a tremendously difficult time for the global human population. For the Cynic family, the struggle was not restricted to a pandemic. It was two utterly senseless losses that threw the band’s immediate concerns into the background: the premature deaths of drummer Sean Reinert in January, at age 48, and bassist Sean Malone in December, at age 50, were shocking and unthinkable.

Reinert, a founding Cynic member since formation in 1988, was highly influential to a multitude of young drummers. His work on 1993’s Focus and Death’s watershed 1991 album, Human, found him sculpting extreme technical metal with a jazz fusion-inspired approach. Now taken for granted, that approach to the instrument and the genre was undoubtedly pioneered in large part by Reinert. Though parting with Cynic in 2015, his imprint on Cynic is inescapable.

The death of Sean Malone dealt another horrible layer of tragedy to Cynic’s 2020. In his many years with the band, Malone’s virtuoso playing meshed intuitively with Reinert’s. Together they formed a nucleus of kinetic, highly capable rhythmic dexterity that fueled Cynic’s celestial aims.

One of these deaths would have seemed unimaginable by itself. Both of them, in the same year, nearly broke surviving member Paul Masvidal. But the seeds of a fourth Cynic full- length existed long before the deaths, and the guitarist, through a haze of grief and disbelief, pushed forward. “I wanted to make this record right after Kindly Bent to Free Us,” says Masvidal. “I was raring to go, hyper-creative, in this total flow state. And then it all imploded.”

Parts of songs were in the gestation process as early as 2014. Masvidal says that Reinert and Malone heard elements of what ended up on the fourth album. Slowly, methodically, and with much careful deliberation, Masvidal eventually completed an album titled Ascension Codes, to honor the memory of his fallen band mates. And while the album honors the lives and contributions of Reinert and Malone, it also pushes Cynic forward for its own sake and through its own will to live. The album, paradoxically, acts as both swan song and rebirth. It is, throughout its 49 minutes, a vivid and highly cosmic journey into the very core of every impulse this band has ever explored.

Offering

As of 2021, the future of Cynic is unclear. Does Ascension Codes mark their final phase of growth? Surely the music finds them laying out a most ambitious trail of spiritual sonic travel, but to call any Cynic album “ambitious” is redundant. They are, by their very nature, an ambitious band. Yet Ascension Codes is a remarkably far-reaching work. Its nine main songs are infused with explosions of color and energy, and throughout these compositions are embedded the “codes”: “Mu-54*,” “A’-va432,” “Ha-144” and so on.

Though clearly an album best listened to in its entirety without distraction, for full impact, there are definitive Cynic songs here that stand strong on their own. “Mythical Serpents” is imbued with propellant adventure, exciting peaks and valleys that tug at the heart while its mathematical sequences challenge the head in a dizzying push/pull dynamic. It’s that quintessential Cynic approach of kaleidoscopic intensity and mannered discipline.

“Diamond Light Body” brings the album to a crashing close – heavy and celestial, with some melodic sequences that feel like new territory for Cynic. An incredibly dense song with inhuman patterns from Lynch, the song’s beautiful urgency and final moments push the album outward into the heavens: “I won't feed the fear / I’ll choose a different timeline / Ascend / All is flux, nothing stands still / Ascend.”

The expanded Cynic collective maintains focus on Masvidal’s vision, each human element adding to the compelling overall result. Truly, if this is to be the final artistic stroke by Cynic, then they have landed in a place of mastery. The stories told by Focus, Traced in Air, and Kindly Bent to Free Us are now completed with Ascension Codes.

Ascension Codes is perhaps the most ethereal sounding Cynic album to date, but also skews heavier than previous album Kindly Bent to Free Us. The expanded lineup is surely responsible for the album’s far-reaching scope.

After Sean Reinert’s exit from Cynic in 2015, Masvidal and Malone recruited drummer Matt Lynch. Found through a tip from Between the Buried and Me’s Dan Briggs, Lynch proved to be a perfect addition to the band. As Masvidal notes, Lynch’s “hybrid modern style is like a fusion of drum and bass electronic music influences combined with modern jazz/prog approaches. Lynch is a true original in that he's a fully realized drummer constructing his parts as carefully as any other compositional element always is on a Cynic record. Every single accent and note coming from him is birthed from a precise and inspired place.” We hear this throughout Ascension Codes, pushing the music along with finesse, adding shape and texture in ways only the most sensitive drummers can do.

But how to replace Sean Malone on bass? Masvidal’s answer: don’t even try. The lines of bass notes heard throughout Ascension Codes are performed on bass synthesizer by keyboardist Dave Mackay. A British pianist, writer, producer and Moog/vintage synth enthusiast, Mackay has toured with everyone from Art Garfunkel to Plini (the latter providing the initial introduction between Mackay and Masvidal). Based in Los Angeles and London, Mackay’s work is sensitive to Malone’s touch, while also adding a throbbing intensity that offers Cynic new low-end possibilities. “He's got a vast jazz harmonic vocabulary,” notes Masvidal, “which is what's needed in the context of Cynic's music, especially for bass lines. I knew that I could never replace Malone. Anyone I would find would be expected to play like him, and that's not fair to another musician. And things were too fresh for me with the loss of Malone, so I had to go somewhere new. With Mackay, I heard his groovy left-hand approach, and how musical he was across the board having played with a variety of musicians and styles. I realized he would bring something fresh to the table, and he provided a space for me to start again with a completely different instrument and forgo any traditional ideas I had about what Cynic bass lines should sound like.

Ultimately Mackay delivered above and beyond, with a real awareness of a bass player's role in a progressive trio context. First, by holding down the harmony and being “in the pocket,” while also creating an independent and dynamic voice within that space. Mackay has a rare combination of skills and the vibe he locked into with Lynch with sounds like a rhythm section from the future. Plus, his Moog synth tone offers a low-end depth that’s never been heard in our recordings.” On December 5, 2019, Dave Mackay shared the stage with Paul Masvidal for a performance of the guitarist’s solo material. On bass that evening was Sean Malone. After the gig, Malone told Masvidal, “We should bring Mackay in for the new record.”

Michael Berberian, president and founder of Season of Mist Records remained close to Masvidal throughout the 2020 losses of his bandmates. Michael states “I have, by now, released close to one thousand albums. None have been more dramatic, none have even been more difficult than this one. I can’t listen to Ascension Codes without goosebumps, a mixed feeling of pride – because it’s a musical milestone, but it also contains a lingering layer of sadness. I hear Paul’s pain on this record. I can feel it, I can touch it. But it’s transcended. ‘Art is to console those who are broken by life,’ said Van Gogh. Here is a demonstration of that.”

Ascension Codes was mixed and co-produced by Warren Riker, who worked with Aeon Spoke, Cynic in the Traced in Air era, and mixed Paul Masvidal’s solo acoustic trilogy. “Riker’s a wizard who gets inside the music and commits. He expands boundaries as a mixer, always finding new ways to push the sonic envelope,” says Masvidal.

Keeping things in the family, Martina Hoffmann’s original painting entitled ‘The Landing’ graces Cynic's new album Ascension Codes with breathtaking scope and presence. The visionary work inspired by Martina's time walking the beaches of Brittany, France after the death of her longtime partner, the artist Robert Venosa (whose artwork adorns all Cynic releases between 1993 and 2018) followed by the loss of her mother, the subject of the piece features the arrival of a great mothership made of light and flesh, not machine but an organic entity that has brought hope and infinite possibilities. Masvidal says of Hoffmann, “Martina’s art has always held a special place in my heart, and I'm deeply grateful for her love and support. When I first contacted Venosa as a teenager, it was Martina who encouraged him to lend his work to the band, because she heard something in our music. She is like the divine mother in this Cynic/ Venosa lineage," Masvidal says. "Her spirit and multidimensional talents are truly a gift to this world. I feel that she is one of the great artistic voices of our age."

The struggle to attain ascension is as important as ascension itself. And after much searching, Cynic have again achieved oneness with the numinous. At a time of possible exit for the entity, Ascension Codes is Cynic reaching a previously-unknown state of enlightenment.

Credits and Lineup:

With Masvidal, Lynch and Mackay at the core, Cynic utilized a variety of other artists to help achieve their vision for Ascension Codes, some of the key players include:

DARK (Roopam Garg) performs as “code worker” on the album, providing harmonic, harp-like guitar textures. DARK also known for his other works with “The Surrealist” is an experimental, ambient artist, pushing the avant-garde guitar envelope using extended techniques and consciousness inspired soundscapes.

Max Phelps contributes “holographic-reptilian-voices” on multiple tracks. Phelps toured with Cynic in the Carbon-Based Anatomy and Kindly Bent to Free Useras, and his own progressive metal band, Exist, have released music on Prosthetic Records. Phelps also took part in Death tribute band, Death to All.

Plini guest solos on “The Winged Ones.” Plini is an an Australian guitarist and composer, producing heart-fueled, progressive instrumental rock. He opened shows for Cynic in Japan, which happened to be their final live performances as a trio with Reinert/Malone.

Additional contributors:

Anrita Melchizedek is a renowned priestess, healer, galactic ambassador, among other pursuits, and provides vocals to the opening and closing code interludes (“Mu-54*” and “Ec-ka72”). Amy Correia and Joshua Leon vocalize light language and phrases on various code interludes. Amy appeared on Traced in Air and 2011’s Carbon-Based Anatomy EP,and plays with Masvidal in the Onward with Love (OwL) project. Michael Devin plays crystal bowls on some of the code interludes. Devin is also a bassist and has played with the Jason Bonham Led Zeppelin Evening, George Lynch, and Whitesnake. Ezekiel Kaplan contributed a vocal harmony to the final track “Diamond Light Body.”

Featuring eleven tracks, the band's fifth album picks up where its critically acclaimed predecessor left off, delivering all the relentless melodies, hypnotic soundscapes and energy for which RISE TO FALLare held in high regard by critics and fans alike.

Guitarist Hugo Markaida on "Test of Time": "This is a song with probably the best intro of the album, which contains a lot of epic energy. It is followed by a very energetic verse and a chorus that comes with a change of tone and very melodic, but also complex vocals. It contains some old school riffs, fast and frenetic, and ultimately breaks into a very melodic guitar solo. It is a song that will not be missed at our concerts, a song that we believe you will love, all the fans of Rise To Fall."

The Fifth Dimension is out NOW on Noble Demon and available for purchase at THIS LOCATION

EXMORTUS Reach "Beyond The Grave" For Thrashing New Single

Southern Californian melodic death shredders EXMORTUS have released the third single, "Beyond The Grave," from their massively anticipated 6th studio album, "Necrophony," that's due August 25th from Nuclear Blast Records. The face-melting new track is a sonic fist-to-the-face, replete with thrashing guitar riffs, blistering solos and monstrous vocals that attest to why the band remains one of the fiercest bands in underground metal.

Pre-order "Necrophony":  https://exmortus.bfan.link/necrophony.a01

Stream "Beyond The Grave": https://exmortus.bfan.link/beyond-the-grave
Watch the lyric video for "Beyond The Grave" created by Wayne Joyner (Dream Theater, Devin Townsend) below:

Commenting on the single, guitarist/vocalist Conan says:

"We're excited to show off yet another intense song from the new album with awesome visuals by Wayne Joyner. Heavily inspired by the Evil Dead movies, this piece interprets the madness of possession with fast rhythms and licks on each instrument. We're sure to have fun performing this one on tours to come."

EXMORTUS recently headlined the Hyperspace Metal Festival in Vancouver and completed a West Coast tour with Paladin and Graveshadow. The band will perform a FREE show at 1720 in Los Angeles on July 17th.

Additional live performances to be announced soon.

About EXMORTUS:
Los Angeles-based neo-classical extreme metal mavens Exmortus return on new album, "Necrophony." Four years in the making, the group’s sixth album offers nothing but savage rebirth and fierce renewal. "Necrophony" marks a significant turning point—one foretold by the Legions of the "Undead" EP in 2019—for the Angelenos. Not only have they emerged from the throes of the pandemic stronger, faster and crazier, they’ve signed on to global metal powerhouse Nuclear Blast. The passion and fury of lead-off single “Oathbreaker” is merely the tip of Exmortus’ darkest tower. Follow-on singles like the powerful “Mind of Metal” and “Storm of Strings,” a whistle-stop, no-joke cover of Greek-American composer Yanni interpreting Vivaldi’s “Summer,” add greatly to Exmortus’ masterly oeuvre.

Exmortus was founded in 2002. The group issued a bevy of well-received demos and EPs that culminated in debut In Hatred’s Flame in 2008. Since then, Gonzalez—now flanked by specialists Phillip Nuñez (bass), Chase Becker (guitars, Warbringer), and Adrian Aguilar (drums, Vio-lence)—has gone on to release four more fan-favorite full-lengths. Exmortus have toured with Amon Amarth, Obituary, Death Angel, and more, playing gigs in North America and Europe. The group’s highlights have also included a stint with thrash legends Exodus at industry lighthouse event NAMM and a coveted spot on the 70000 Tons of Metal cruise. "Necrophony," a portmanteau of “necro” and “phony” (or “dead sounds”), is Exmortus bigger, badder and wickedly restless.

Written from a fresh slate, Necrophony’s origins can be traced to preludes “Masquerade,” “Overture,” and the intro to “Children of the Night.” Once Exmortus had the feel down, they settled on expanding on the motifs by forging Viennese sophistication with metal might. Careful observers will hear Exmortus’ clever use of the album’s musical theme throughout its 12-song range. That includes “Darkest of Knights” and the aforementioned “Children of the Night,” as well as Necrophony’s shorter bursts of bravado in “Oathbreaker” and “Beyond the Grave.” The most important attributes were, however, vibe and Exmortus’ careful crafting of their next-gen sonic fingerprint.

Whereas previous albums up through 2018’s "The Sound of Steel" have been predicated on heroic fantasy/sword & sorcery, "Necrophony" turns a decidedly darker page. Exmortus have gone from a "Conan the Barbarian" and "Gladiator" aesthetic to something blacker, more nefarious as illustrated by the eeriest and evilest Lovecraftian and Tolkien-esque tales. There’s even a classic horror thing happening. This is, of course, a reflection of our immediate world, and the darkness that’s engulfing everything in it.

Exmortus invited Renaissance man Zack Ohren (Fallujah, Immolation) to return as engineer, producer, mixer and mastering ace on "Necrophony." Certainly, the team that had cemented the group’s three previous albums into the annals of metaldom was going to work yet again. With Ohren at the helm, Exmortus holed up in Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, CA. "Necrophony" was fast-tracked in just under two weeks. The result is a clap of virtuosic metal sure to leave fans battered, bloodied, and hungry for more violent opulence.

With “Oathbreaker,” “Mind of Metal” and “Storm of Strings” ringing darkened ears Exmortus’ paroxysmal ascent to extreme metal’s upper echelons is guaranteed with "Necrophony." Bow in reverence to the high-flying, six-stringed dynasts now.

AFTERMATH Releases Single ""SLAVeABLE (We're not your animals)" via Zoid Entertainment!

"Slaveable (We're Not Your Animals)” with a catchy chorus, bass sound to melt your face, and RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE-laden lead guitar."

- Dimitris Kontogeorgakos, Metal Kaoz

"The rebellious exclamation of “we’re not your animals” in the snarling and rambunctious 'SLAVeABLE'."

- Nick Balazs, Bravewords

“'Slaveable (We’re Not Your Animals)'. There is somewhat of a classic rock or glam element to this track as it has that guitar sound of the 90’s era, with drums filling in the space with sustained hits, but lead vocals tear through the next section with strength and power. Electric guitar has its time to solo once more over drums and bass guitar into hyperdrive mode before cymbal hits kick in also, then several clatter of cymbals leads to the vocals bringing back the sustained notation from before. There is still refusal of vocals backing down as they deliver the message in the track and theme is very well portrayed as it has done so."

- Andrew Harvey, Metal-Temple

"'SLAVeABLE (We’re Not Your Animals)' packs a catchy as fuck chorus and its stripped-back aesthetic, and almost hard rock flavour, showcases the bands ‘classic’ style in inimitable style."

- Chris Jennings, Worship Metal

"From slaves with chains to sex slaves or debt slaves, slavery is a human concept. Invented by man against natural law. This song is about freedom. We aren’t your animals."

AFTERMATH released their highly anticipated new album, No Time to Waste via Zoid Entertainment/TLG/INgrooves on March 17, 2023. This marks the third album in a trilogy, and is a departure from the previous dark, concept album installment in the trilogy.

"We are really proud of this album. It completes a trilogy of albums that began with our debut. Written in the darkest period in modern history, we actually wrote this one as an album of hope. We streamlined it from our previous dark concept record. The ten songs on this album are heavy and energized. It’s a metal record with a message and that message is we can do this together but we have no time to waste." - Kyriakos "Charlie" Tsiolis.

Chicago based Aftermath, fronted by Kyriakos "Charlie" Tsiolis, formed in October 1985 when Charlie and his schoolmate Steve Sacco (Guitar) got together. This early incarnation with Adam (Bass) and Ray Schmidt (Drums) released their first demo in 1986 featuring “Sentenced to Death”, “Revenge”, “Shotgun” and “The Aftermath”.

In 1987, they unleashed their second demo entitled Killing the Future featuring the tracks “When Will You Die”, “Going No Place”, “Chaos”, “Meltdown” and “War for Freedom”. The band pursued a mind-blowing speed and technical brand of thrash that soon set them apart from the pack and in the process made them a pioneering crossover thrash band.

The tracks "War for Freedom" & "When Will You Die" were both featured on the British Metal Forces magazine_compilation LP Demolition: Scream Your Brains Out in 1988. Their appearance on the Metal Forces compilation further expanded the band's international appeal.

By 1988, the band's musical direction was changing, and Adam's raw and simple bass lines would soon be replaced with complex and technical bass parts handled at first by John Lovette. Ironically, John never played bass on any Aftermath recording and was not even a bass player. He wanted to join the band so badly, however, that he came to the audition with a friend's bass he had just started to play. The speed and complex playing he displayed were like nothing the members had ever seen before on bass. He landed the gig that day. When the band decided it was time to add a second guitarist, Lovette told his bandmates of his desire to switch to guitar and for the first time he came clean he was a guitar player pretending to be a bass player all along. His bass playing was surpassed by his guitar skills and the band found its second guitar player, but unfortunately the search for a bass player was forced to resume. Luckily, the search (for the time being, anyway) ended with Danny Vega. His warm and precise playing was the perfect complement to the guitar playing of Lovette and Sacco and worked amazingly well with Schmidt's powerful drumming. With Lovette handling most of the song writing duties, Aftermath was about to make an unbelievable musical change.

By 1989, that change brought on by Lovette's writing and the band's musical tastes and stylings had slowed and matured as evidenced by the release of the underground classic demo Words That Echo Fear. Danny Vega was replaced on bass by Chris Waldron. The band went onto to become a trailblazing progressive/technical thrash band in the years that followed.

In 1990, based on the huge international success of the Words that Echo Feardemo, the metal label RoadRacer Records (a subsidiary of Roadrunner Records)approached the band for a demo deal, which resulted in a live four track demo featuring the songs “Eyes of Tomorrow”, “Afraid Of Time”, “The Act Of Unspoken Wisdom” and “Reflecting Pictures". Negotiations eventually broke down and Aftermath signed to New York's Big Chief Records. The label's collapse halfway through the recording sessions led to a long delay in finishing the record. While the band struggled to pay the studio bill, the album the band started to record in 1990 would not see the light of day for four years. The experience left the band reeling and forced them to issue the album under their own imprint with the help of their manager through Zoid Recordings in 1994. Four long years had passed since the initial recordings for the record Eyes of Tomorrow and the scene had dramatically changed.

The album was subsequently re-released on Thermometer Sound Surface / Zoidand released yet again four years (1998) later on Black Lotus Records in a re-mastered version.

Quite famously, Aftermath, in a notable court case Tsiolis v. Interscope. Records. Inc., 946 F.Supp. 1344, 1349 (N.D.III. 1996) sued high-profile millionaire rapper DR. DRE over the ownership of the Aftermath name. The Rapper tried to buy the name for $50,000, which the band rejected. The band sued him. As part of the settlement, Interscope Records signed the band. To the label's surprise, the band delivered a record under the moniker Mother God Moviestar. Its eponymous Electro-Metal debut was released in March 1998. The case has been studied in law schools around the US related to the issue of trademark dilution.

Aftermath has continued to receive critical acclaim as one of the major influences in the genre. The band was featured on pages 9 and 10 of Gary Sharpe-Young's A - Z of Thrash Metal, available on Cherry Red Books. Aftermath is also given an entire feature section in Alexandros Anesiadis’ 2019 book Crossover the Edge: Where Hardcore, Punk, and Metal Collide.

Twenty-five years after its formation, Aftermath's music made its return in 2011 with the release of the Box Set 25 YEARS OF CHAOS on Area Death Productions and the vinyl When Will You Die on F.O.A.D. The reemergence of one of the most original thrash bands ever continued in 2014 with their decision to reunite for several concerts in 2015.

Coming off their first show in 20 years at Ragnarokkr Metal Apocalypse in their hometown of Chicago, the band ripped the stage apart at Headbanger’s Open Air in Hamburg, Germany that summer. In the Fall of 2015, the reunion continued with the reissue of Eyes of Tomorrow. With an expanded booklet and remastered by Paul Logus (Pantera, Steel Panther), Shadow Kingdom Records released the band's debut along with bonus material. Following this release was the Killing the Futurereissue on Divebomb Records. Once again Paul Logus remastered the tracks from their original source and created a wall of sound in the process. Killing the Future, along with the expanded booklet and bonus tracks from the band's 1986 first demo completed the celebration of the band's 30th anniversary.

In 2017, the band started writing the material for their new album. There is Something Wrong is an 11-song opus recorded by Chuck Macak. mastered by Ted Jensen and released through Ingrooves by Zoid Entertainment and The Label Group. A concept record in the truest sense of the word, the album features a mix of old-school crossover thrash and technical/progressive metal and is a commentary on what is wrong with the world today. A calling out of the masses to wake up and know the real enemy. The music is urgent, and the lyrics challenge the listener to seek the truth. Aftermath went back to its early days and revived its crossover thrash stylings on several songs, but those are only samples of what the listeners have in store for them once they put on their headphones and listen to There is Something Wrong in its entirety.

In 2020, Aftermath released a re-imagined version of the John Lennon classic, "Give Peace a Chance". The song was remixed and remastered for the new album and included on the record because of the message.

“John Lennon’s urgent call for peace in Give Peace a Chance is more important today than ever, and our call for peace with this cover is the perfect message to follow up our previous album. We released a dark concept album with a bleak message and felt it was important to follow that up with something positive. The visuals in the video are as important as the lyrics in a way. We live in a visual world today and this video needed to get out the message of HOPE. Having a young girl be the focus of the video was our way of getting that across. Seeing only positive acts when she puts on Lennon’s famous glasses was the perfect visual metaphor. Lennon’s message is transmitted not only through his lyrics but also through the perspective created by his unique lenses” says the band.

The video was directed by critically acclaimed video director Steven Nathan in New York City.

AFTERMATH is:
Kyriakos "Charlie" Tsiolis - Vocals
Steve Sacco - Guitar
Ray Schmidt - Drums

Scott Martin (Bulletproof Messenger, Storm of the Century) Releases New Full Length Album “Scott Martin & The Grand Disaster” via Spectra Music Group

Stream/Download Scott Martin & The Grand Disaster

Spotify or Link Tree

New York City based singer/songwriter/guitarist Scott Martin has released a full length album titled Scott Martin & The Grand Disaster via Spectra Music Group.

"I think the entire concept of 'The Grand Disaster' is like a metaphor for life, you know? It's messy, but damn, it can be beautiful. It’s the title of an old song from the band I cut my teeth in (Bulletproof Messenger) and I wanted to pay homage — not to mention that in a quirky and fantastic turn of events, the drummer from that band, Joseph Rubino, wound up playing drums on this record. Not to mention the fact that life (and pretty much the world) over the last few years that we were working on the album has been a very wild and strange roller coaster of ups and downs…yeah. Scott Martin & The Grand Disaster…it fit so well that it pretty much named itself," says Scott Martin.

Listen/Watch the first single off of the new album "Head Over Heels":

Hailing from Brooklyn, NYC, Scott Martin is a rock/pop artist who aims to transmit emotion to his audience by mixing passion and hard work with classic songwriting and a remarkable stage presence. His interest in guitars and willingness to learn brought him to passionately play all types of guitars, from acoustic to electrics, and being sponsored by companies like Breedlove and MojoHandFX.

Scott started his career as a guitarist and songwriter in Bulletproof Messenger – a modern electronic rock group with a noteworthy worldwide audience and touring experience with big name national and international acts. Later, he worked his way to being a prolific and well-established session guitarist and sideman in his hometown of New York City, collaborating on music with Adrian Grenier of Entourage, Ammo Hall of MTV, and landing a role as the guitarist and musical director for Jessie Wagner (Lenny Kravitz/Kid Rock/Chic) on Steven Van Zandt’s Wicked Cool Records label.

In 2022, Scott released a guitar-centric cover of “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” theme track that went viral on YouTube and Instagram, where he gained over 6 million views, 200K likes, 40K shares and added more than 75K followers to his audience.

He also has developed a successful solo career, releasing “Head Over Heels,” his debut single as a solo artist, in 2019. The COVID pandemic impacted him deeply, and yet was a milestone in his development as an artist, as it forced him to slow down and take time to study and learn new techniques – most importantly, how to record and produce music by himself. He confesses: “Without that time to unplug and learn, I wouldn’t be where I am now”. His music demonstrably showcases his love of classic songwriting and arrangement, and has been featured in publications such as American Songwriter & Broadway Magazine.

In the past year, his single “Bringing Hollywood Back to Life”, a hymn to the Old Hollywood golden era, gained him a contract with indie label Spectra Music Group. His debut full-length album, Scott Martin & The Grand Disaster is available everywhere June 9th.

A Cloud of Ravens touring the USA with Clan of Xymox & Curse Mackey in support of 'Lost Hymns' album

“Their sound, though inspired by bands of their youth, is not rooted stubbornly in the past - their music feels of this time, with their messages transversing the cosmos” ~ Post-Punk.com

"Sonic luxuriance... racing at full velocity with tight-fisted riffs, cutting exactitude and danceability... a healthy reminder of the original and timeless allure of the post-punk sound and scene" ~ The Spill Magazine

“Dark poetry... rivet through their gritty and immediate sonic scheme, which feels pitch dark and hard as nails” – Destroy // Exist

"Perfect blend of an homage to the past & the modern construction of the future. A heroic journey through a desolate land" ~ Sounds and Shadows

“They play cold wave, they play post-punk, they are Gothic and they set to music some of the most striking lyrics you can find” ~ White Light // White Heat

NYC-based postpunk duo
A Cloud of Ravens are currently touring North America with Clan of Xymox and Curse Mackey in support of their recently-released 'Lost Hymns' album. The band has been playing live a lot over the past few months, recently wrapping up a string of US tour dates with UK goth-rock legends The Sisters of Mercy and, just before that, European tour dates with Swedish label-mates Then Comes Silence.

Effectively merging classic and contemporary post-punk and darkwave sensibilities, their somewhat poetic use of prose and metaphor expressed the trials and joys of the world in which we now find ourselves. A Cloud of Ravens' previous
remix-based EP featured contributions by legendary producer John Fryer and such prominent artists as Clan of Xymox, ACTORS, Chris Vrenna and Ritual Howls.

Mastered by ACTORS'
Jason Corbett at his Jacknife Sound studio, this collection of 11 tracks was released via Nexilis Records / Schubert Music Europe. The band also recently shared their latest video for 'Parable', following dark delights 'Requiem For The Sun', 'Nature of Artifice' and 'The Blackest Mantra'.

Formed in 2018 by Matthew McIntosh (guitar and vocals) and Beth Narducci (bass guitar), the Brooklyn-based duo emerged on the burgeoning dark music scene with a series of self-released offerings that garnered attention that led to their 2021 album 'Another Kind of Midnight', a mournful yet triumphant collection exploring the heart of a world amidst a devastating pandemic and torn by moral tribalism.

Growing up in a family of avid music lovers and her mother being a professional opera single, McIntosh arrived at this genre of music after ample explorations in the punk, death rock and hardcore scenes, finally forging the duo's trademark sound with Narducci, whose background is more connected with alternative rock and industrial music, as well as professionally supporting fellow musicians in the A&R field.

The 'Lost Hymns' album is out now, available from fine digital outlets, including
Apple Music, SpotifyAmazon and Bandcamp.

Chicago-based artist Evidence of a Struggle releases debut album loaded with post-everything alt-rock richness Accompanied by animated six-chapter audio-visual storybook

"Wonderfully cinematic, forward-thinking, open-minded, genre-hopping, rule-breaking... a symphony of sonics, subtlety and suppleness, and of the subverting of expectations. Not to mention a fantastic musical experience" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"'Combines the coolness of electric jazz, Krautrock-inspired post-rock and atmospheric art rock, offering a gripping and upbeat, yet refined, sound and thoughtful arrangement with sonic prowess" ~
Amplify Music Magazine

Chicago-based artist
Evidence of a Struggle presents their debut 13-track eponymous album, a great instrumental journey combining numerous sub-genres spanning the art rock and alternative music realm, with the high-octane 'Sal-E', the album's first track, chosen as its focus single.

Surrounding the musings of multi-instrumentalist William P C Simmons V a.k.a.
Rev. Billy Simmons, Evidence of a Struggle is an evolving group of artists and musicians whose sonic creations may lead you to the center of the darkness or just might unfurl the universe before you with lush, cinematic, beautiful, and sometimes chaotic compositions.

Evidence of a Struggle began in 2020 during lockdowns. This ambitious effort sees Rev. Billy play every instrument – guitar, drums, piano, synth and violin - recorded and engineered from his home studio, The Glue Factory. With Covid restrictions lifted, he began working with
Sanford Parker (Voivod, Russian Circles, Yob, Eyehategod, Wovenhand, Darkthrone, Youth Code, Pelican), who helped produce and record the final versions of the songs for this record, as well as mastering.

The album is complemented by a six-chapter audio-visual storybook, created by Chicago artist
John Airo, who has been involved with this project since the outset - creating videos, album covers and accompanying visuals for live performances.

The latest video is
'Bisquee' with its engaging off-kilter post-rock, following the cinematic debut single 'Do'Oa', a wonderful fusion of Tortoise and Dif Juz, and 'Alan's Song' - the sound of fear, beauty and hubris. The sound of a beautifully crumbling grand distraction.

Bandcamp  https://evidenceofastruggle.bandcamp.com/album/evidence-of-a-struggle-2

"There is so much attached to these songs, musically, visually and emotionally. I don’t think there’s an inch within The Glue Factory that hasn't been touched by literal blood, sweat, or tears. I believe that Evidence of a Struggle is natural in creating all art," says Rev. Billy.

Shaped by a wealth of records inherited from his older sisters and their boyfriends, coupled with a childhood of playing piano and clarinet until his first guitar acquisition at 16, Rev. Billy was quick to start playing with touring bands. After honing his craft and gaining invaluable experience, he elected to study music performance and guitar at Wichita State University, coupled with two and three-dimensional arts and silversmithing.

Noticed for his unique style and songcrafting, various musicians and labels began to notice Rev. Billy's talent, and he ultimately had to choose between university and music. Beginning with RCA recording artist Ké, Simmons also wrote songs and played guitar for other artists on major record labels like RCA, Touch and Go, BMG and Universal.

In 2023,
Matt Walker (of1000faces, Smashing Pumpkins, Morrissey, Garbage, Filter) became involved in this project, playing drums and helping with production with Matt's brother Solomon Walker (Morrissey, Bryan Adams, Eastern Shadows, Year of the Rabbit) and Alan Berliant (Chris Connelly, Mavis Staples, Saint Asonia) also contributing bass.

Apart from music, Rev. Billy also owns
Rev. Billy's Chop Shop, known for high-quality haircuts, friendly, welcoming atmosphere and its inclusive, creative space. Hosting new artists' work bimonthly, Chicago Reader declared this to be the city's best gallery in 2019. A staple in the Chicago community, Rev. Billy's Chop Shop is as strong a passion as his music.

On June 9, the 'Evidence of a Struggle' album will be released, available via

Michael Ray's 5 Spot Surprise: DIVE BARS + BROKEN HEARTS Debuted for Full House

MICHAEL RAY DEBUTS DIVE BARS & BROKEN HEARTS –
Intimate CMA Music Fest Kick-Off Event Shares Entire EP
6 Songs, 2 #1s and a Whole Lotta Fans at E. Nashville’s The 5 Spot

Over the last year, Michael Ray has been honing his craft, focusing his sound and going deeper and deeper into the kind of country music he was raised on in the heart of central Florida. Working with CMA Album of the Year-winning producer Michael Knox, the pair doubled down on a lean, working man’s country sound that pulled traces of Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, Vern Gosdin, Hank Jr. and Alabama.

Thursday night, at East Nashville’s locals mostly The 5 Spot – where Lady Gaga famously kicked off her own Dive Bar Tour in support of her back-to-roots Joanne – the no frills songwriter treated his own fans to the first front-to-back performance of
Dive Bars & Broken Hearts. The six-song EP explores the phases of life, the emotions that define how we live, the reality of where we find ourselves for good times and bad.

“I had been wanting a way to play this to the people who’ve been part of my life and my career from the beginning,” says the dark-headed vocalist. “CMA Fest brings country music fans together from not just across North America, but all over the world. So many of my fans come every year, this seemed like the perfect way to debut all this music as a whole collected work without playing favorites and picking a city.”

Hunger for his new music was high. Tickets for the intimate rock bar show were gone in less than 18 hours; the fans started lining up before daybreak. With a line down the block and around the corner, spirits were high among those lucky enough to get tickets – and on Knox’s bus were the band, who’d been dropping a few songs into their set, would finally get to put it all together.

“Songs on a record are one thing,” Ray said. “But songs in a bar with real people are something else. Not until you get into that room and hear the people do you know. And growing up in Eustis, with my Grandpa working all day, coming home, getting dressed up and heading out to where the music was, I learned the power of that pretty young.”

With the teaser tracks “Workin’ On It” and “Get Her Back” drawing the strongest response, as the crowd sang along at full voice, even the unfamiliar songs seemed to hit home. From the opening “Dive Bars & Broken Hearts,” Ray drew the crowd into a world of short-circuiting neon, young bucks acting up in their trucks, heartaches that drive you to drink and the idea that beyond perfection is the happiness of trying to be a better person every single day.

Dive Bars & Broken Hearts
is available for pre-order now. Three of the six tracks will be instantly available; June 23, the rest of the project will be completed. For fans of how real life creates great songs and reasons to hang on and get through it, Ray understands. With four chart-toppers of his own, he performed “Think A Little Less” and “Whiskey & Rain” as the cherry on top of the new music sundae. With stops at the Grand Old Opry June 9 and the Warner/Yee-Haw Brewing Co. show June 10, it’s all about getting the music into the hands of the ones who deserve it the most: the fans.

STELLAR CIRCUITS' Volatile New Album, "Sight to Sound," Is Out Today!

North Carolina's progressive-metal powerhouse STELLAR CIRCUITS is taking the scene by storm with today's release of their sophomore album, "Sight To Sound," available now from Nuclear Blast. On the visionary band's latest record, they're upping the ante with a massive dose of technical, progressive songwriting teaming with aggression that's intricately balanced with memorable melody and a dark anthemic ambience that sucks listeners in with every crushing riff.

Purchase/Stream "Sight To Sound": https://sc.bfan.link/sight-to-sound

In sync with today's record release, STELLAR CIRCUITS has revealed a visualizer for frantic and alluring track "Pleasure Cruise." Watch it below.

Commenting on the track's lyrical message, vocalist Ben Beddick says:

"'The song deals with living inside of a false reality and willingly doing so. Lusting after things that are unobtainable. There was a redemption that emerged through the chorus and the outro though…it seems to offer hope. Hope in the real connection we have to people and to the earth."

About STELLAR CIRCUITS:

Formed in 2015, Stellar Circuits emerged to combine the conceptual polarities of groove-oriented music with progressive-minded technicality. Over the quartet’s lifespan, they’ve managed to fulfill their own prophecy, formulating a core sound that is complex and layered, while providing a listenability that extends well beyond the rock genre. Visceral, intellectual, groovy, technical, and melodious are rarely indicators that can all be used to describe the aural essence of one band. In the case of Stellar Circuits, the rare combination makes a striking and definitive appearance in all they do.

The Winston-Salem, NC foursome followed their 2015 debut EP with their first full-length album in 2018. "Ways We Haunt" would be recorded with North Carolina’s own Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me, He Is Legend), a legend in his own right, bringing his signature touch to Stellar Circuits’ first long form release.

Generating significant attention, especially from the band’s more veteran industry peers, Stellar Circuits would go on to be invited as special guests on Chevelle’s 2021 N.I.R.A.T.I.A.S. tour.  Completing a nationwide trek that introduced Stellar Circuits to a significantly broader audience, the foursome immediately saw their fanbase increase exponentially, prompting a shift in their attention to a new record with which they could continue to build on the solid foundation they had since established.

"Sight to Sound," Stellar Circuits’ sophomore release, sees the band working once again with Jamie King to convey their growth and expansion on what they do best. Vocalist frontman Ben Beddick highlights the forward momentum, relaying how the band “wanted to push past the point of comfort when writing this music. To make something real and honest that we can all stand by.”

Coming to audiences around the world via Nuclear Blast Records, "Sight to Sound" expands upon the progressive and groove-centric nature of the band; combining a heaviness, a catchiness, and strength of composition with technical proficiency that results in Stellar Circuits’ most polished release to date. Vocalist Ben Beddick further expands on the writing process and the record’s trajectory, marking a “turning point around the beginning of the writing process that steered us toward a particular conceptual direction. Moving closer to an understanding of the perception of our senses.  This record is meant to serve as a sort of invocation. A sense of qualia. The term ‘synesthesia’ comes to mind…”.

Comprised of vocalist Ben Beddick, bassist Jesse Olsen, guitarist Jared Stamey and drummer Tyler Menon, the North Carolina quartet produce an effective and unparalleled coalescence that will undoubtedly excite new listeners while more than satisfying long-term followers. Featuring 11 original tracks that are poised to impress even the most discerning of aficionados, "Sight to Sound" puts the global music landscape on notice that Stellar Circuits has definitively arrived.

L.S. Dunes Share "Grey Veins" Video — WATCH // Touring This Summer!

Today, L.S. Dunes — vocalist Anthony Green, guitarist Frank Iero, bassist Tim Payne, drummer Tucker Rule, and guitarist Travis Stever shared the video for "Grey Veins," a blistering anthem off the band's highly acclaimed debut album released last year — Past Lives

Watch it
below.

An ingenious send-up of '70s Japanese Sci-Fi horror flicks, the "Grey Veins" video features the band as soldiers battling forces greater than themselves while orchestrating a miniature war for Earth's survival. The fantastical trip was helmed by noted directed David Brodsky, (August Burns Red, Helmet, Cannibal Corpse), who previously worked with L.S. Dunes on the video for their first single, "
Permanent Rebellion."

Iero says, "I've always said that if I couldn’t be in a band the only other thing I would want to do is to make monster movies. It's been my dream ever since I was a little, and it was the thing my dad and I bonded over. From an early age, music and monsters is just something that went hand in hand for me. [Japanese film genre] Kaiju is something I have been fascinated by ever since I was a kid and I have always wanted to do an homage to that art form in a music video. I love that L.S. Dunes is such an open-minded and inspiring collective of artists that allowed me to chase that idea and make that dream a reality. 'Grey Veins' felt like the perfect song to pair with this concept and so when the time came I knew David and Allie at My Good Eye, our frequent collaborators, were the perfect match to bring this to fruition."

L.S. Dunes recently announced an extensive run of new summer tour dates across North America beginning with five dates on the Sad Summer Festival tour: Jacksonville, and Clearwater FL, on July 6 and 7, Alpharetta, GA on July 8, Portsmouth, VA on July 11 and Baltimore, MD on July 12. The acclaimed post-hardcore band’s headline tour begins July 9 with a show at the Basement East in Nashville, TN., and is set to hit topflight venues such as The Opera House in Toronto on July 13, NYC's Irving Plaza on July 17, Saint Andrew's Hall in Detroit on July 22, Portland's Crystal Ballroom on August 1, and The Showbox in Seattle on August 2, before returning to California for a string of shows that include The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on August 6, The Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco August 9 and The Garden Amphitheatre in Garden Grove, CA on August 11.

Produced by Will Yip (Turnstile, Circa Survive, Quicksand), Past Lives navigates themes of fearlessness, dependency, nonconformity, and impermanence in a boundary pushing synthesis of post-hardcore and punk that has established L.S. Dunes as one of the rock's most compelling new arrivals. From the gripping, theatrical opener "2022" and the blazing "Bombsquad" to the pummeling, expansive "Permanent Rebellion," the searing title track "Past Lives," and the disarming album closer, "Sleep Cult," Past Lives is an electrifying and emotional ride.

"A staggering collection of progressive-rock and post-hardcore songs" — Alternative Press

"A tour-de-force of post-hardcore"  — Heavy Consequence

"An urgent and flat-out fantastic record" — Brooklyn Vegan

After the shock of the pandemic shutdown, the close friends and mutual admirers urgently realized that "tomorrow" is not promised. "We never knew if we would ever get to play these songs together; in fact, none of us lifelong musicians really knew if we'd ever be able to play music for a live audience ever again," Iero recounts. "'Permanent Rebellion' is about taking back what is rightfully yours," Rule adds. "We wanted to do something where you can hear all our bands in it and yet, not have it sound like any one in particular. Our roots are punk rock and hardcore, and the vibe is hope for all the lost souls."

Praise has come from all corners of the globe including year-end accolades from Guitar World, Revolver (Best New Bands of 2022), Loudwire, Kerrang, Alternative Press (55 Best Albums of 2022), Brooklyn Vegan: (Best Punk Albums of 2022), Rock Sound (cover), Stereogum, Loudwire (Best Rock + Metal Debut LPs 2022), New Noise (cover), Line of Best Fit, Heavy Consequence, AllMusic, and many more.

About SCAR SYMMETRY

Formed in Sweden in 2004, SCAR SYMMETRY were a unique proposition from the start. Although clearly owing a debt to the pioneering melodic death metal bands of the ‘90s, guitarist Per Nilsson and his comrades were walking their own evolutionary path. As showcased on 2005 debut Symmetric In Design, the band were driven by fervently progressive and proudly melodic instincts, infusing their often brutal riffs and arrangements with wild, futuristic atmospherics, and sublime, emotional melodies that always hit their targets with ruthless precision.

As SCAR SYMMETRY moved forward, their music continued to evolve in tandem. They joined forces with Nuclear Blast Records for 2006’s breakthrough opus Pitch Black Progress (2006), and have since amassed an extraordinary catalogue of forward-thinking but irrevocably crushing modern metal. From the glossy, hyper-melodic barrage of Holographic Universe (2008), to the immaculate thunder of The Unseen Empire (2011) and the astonishing, cosmic odyssey that is The Singularity (Phase I - Neohumanity) (2014). the Swedes have blown minds and enhanced their reputation with every artistic step.

Roberth Karlsson - Vocals
Lars Palmqvist - Vocals
Per Nilsson - Vocals, Guitars, Bass, Keyboards

Off Road Minivan Share "The Breakdown" Video — WATCH

MAY THIS KEEP YOU SAFE FROM HARM OUT JUNE 23 VIA TOOTH & NAIL

Hudson Valley, NY-based quartet Off Road Minivan, featuring Fit For a King bassist Ryan "Tuck" O'Leary, will release their second album May This Keep You Safe From Harm on June 23 via Tooth & Nail Records. Pre-order it
here.

Today, the band has shared the video for "
The Breakdown." Watch it below.

"'The Breakdown' was the hardest song to put together for the band," says Tuck. "It's so simple but took a while to figure out. I went through a difficult breakup with a friend and that inspired the song. Time is so valuable and something we give to each other as currency. Eventually, you've spent too much time on a sinking ship and it's best to jump overboard. This was my way of trying to get that person out of my head."

Off Road Minivan, whose lineup is rounded out by Evan Garcia Renart, Miles Taylour Sweeny, and Mike Planko, came to life in 2018 with the Spiral Gaze EP. On its heels, 2020's full-length debut, Swan Dive, immediately captivated audiences. Throughout the past three years, the band members wrote and sent ideas back-and-forth. Simultaneously, they stitched together a throughline carried by the real-life interviews with members of Tuck's family.

"I've been secretly recording my family for at least a-year-and-a-half, including the voice clips from my grandmother, who was the first," Tuck says. "I'd listen back later and find the right part I needed for the album. I essentially wanted to preserve these moments forever. I got my mom, dad, sister, grandmother, brother-in-law, nephew, best friend, and wife on tape. Now, I'll have it all on vinyl format for the rest of my life."

As for the album's title, it's also rooted in the familial.

"When my grandfather joined the military and was going off to war, my grandma gave him a bible with a metal cover," reveals Tuck. "On the front, it said, 'May this keep you safe from harm.' Even if you got shot in the heart, the bible would protect you. When I first started touring, different family members gave me mementos to feel safe on the road. The bible was from my grandmother. Now, I've got it tattooed on my chest, so I don't have to bring the original with me. All of this is about preservation of time. It's a way to document some of my most fragile moments and share the delicate, untouched vulnerable side of myself maybe you haven't experienced from Fit For a King. It's the other swing of the pendulum."

Deathbringer To Release Cult Classic Debut Album 'Homo Divisus' On Streaming Platforms For The First Time Ever

Deathbringer

To Release Cult Classic Debut Album

HOMO DIVISUS

Digitally For First Time Ever

Stream Now HERE

Belarusian progressive technical death metal titans, Deathbringer, have unleashed their 2007 debut album ‘Homo Divisus’ digitally for the first time ever via Unique Leader Records. The critically acclaimed album features 11 tracks of brutal and complex metal and was originally released on CD only in Russia and Europe, and has since become a cult classic among progressive death metal aficionados. The digital release marks the first time that the album is available worldwide and on all streaming platforms. Find ‘Homo Divisus’ on streaming platforms HERE and stream the full album on YouTube HERE

Speaking on the digital release of their debut album, Deathbringer shares:

"Homo Divisus is our debut album, which was released in 2007 by a label from Russia Sound Age Productions. For us it was a huge event in our lives. We were young musicians who wanted to play progressive death metal, back at that time more influenced by Chuck Schuldiner and late Death era. These were the first music pieces written by us that were officially released. The album was very well received by listeners and critics around the world, we were getting very good reviews. Deathbringer finally started touring around Europe, beyond the borders of our country. That was a huge step forward for us as a young band from Belarus.

But the problem we realized later was that this album never had a proper digital release. And now after 16 years we are extremely happy that Homo Divisus will finally appear on all digital streaming services thanks to our label Unique Leader Records.

Deathbringer mastermind, guitarist and songwriter, Artyom Seryuk shares:

I’m sure that it will help to breathe in a new life into this album and it will conquer new listeners. Time flies fast, Deathbringer has a bit of a different musical form now, but Homo Divisus is still a very important and very dear release to me. It’s a really personal concept album into which I put all my heart and soul. It’s so satisfying to see how it obtains a new digital life now. Thanks ULR!

Deathbringer was formed in 2002 by guitarist Artyom Serdyuk in Grodno, Belarus. The band quickly gained a reputation for their intense live shows and their uncompromising style of progressive technical death metal. They have shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the genre, such as Vader, Behemoth, Marduk, Hate, Devilyn, Sceptic, Katalepsy, Crionics and more. They also supported Cannibal Corpse in Minsk in 2004, but the gig was cancelled by local authorities half an hour before the show.

Deathbringer released their debut album ‘Homo Divisus’ in 2007 and toured extensively in Eastern Europe with bands like Hate and Crionics. The album received rave reviews from critics and fans worldwide. The album was re-released in 2010 and followed by another tour with Sceptic and Abused Majesty.

Since then, the band underwent frequent line-up changes and became an international act with members from Belarus and Poland. They celebrated their 10-year anniversary with a headlining tour in 2013 and started working on their second album. However, the recording process was delayed for several years due to health issues of frontman Artyom Serdyuk. He resumed the work in 2018 and collaborated with some of the best musicians in the scene, such as Bobby Koelble of Death, Tommy Talamanca of Sadist, Mariusz “Thrufel” Domaradzki of Masachist and Yattering, and Igor Kovalyov and Alex Sedin of the Belarusian metal scene. Following further set backs from the Covid-19 pandemic, the band finally finished the album in 2021 and finally released 'It' in 2022 via their new label home, the globally renowned, independent extreme metal label, Unique Leader Records.

Iconic Americana artist TIM EASTON radiates hope on new single 'Sliver of Light', out now via Black Mesa Records

"Consistently delivering quality Americana over his thirty-plus-year professional career, which started before the term was even acknowledged... a veteran performer whose best days may still lie ahead" ~ American Songwriter

"Illuminating lyricism" ~ Folk Alley

"Since debuting in the late '90s as part of the burgeoning alt-country movement, American singer/songwriter Tim Easton has established himself as first-rate storyteller, recording a series of warmly crafted albums in the 2000s for New West Records that combined engaging and thoughtful lyricism with rugged folk, rock, and roots music traditions" ~ AllMusic

'Every track is a distinct story beautifully told" ~ Americana UK

"A gritty yet reassuring voice and clever, laconic and poetic lyrics" ~ The Spill Magazine

Nashville-based songwriter
Tim Easton presents an illuminating story of hope on his latest single ‘Sliver of Light’.  This new single was inspired by a personal tragedy, the loss of numerous friends, and the thin line that exists between life and death,

Released via Oklahoma-based
Black Mesa Records, the accompanying baseball-themed video was directed by Jamey Wood and filmed in Pegram, Tennessee.

A mainstay of American roots music for more than 20 years and with a rich history that includes some years with The Haynes Boys and a stint as Beck's busking partner while touring Europe, Tim Easton creates songs for the Great American Songbook.

With reverence for the past and an outlook toward the future, Easton is easily among the greatest songwriters of our time. Pulling from a wide range of influences, his compositions lead you on a journey that blurs the lines between folk, blues, Americana and workingman's rock & roll.

Penned with hope, ‘Sliver of Light’ finds him focusing on the present in the realization of how quickly and abruptly things can end. An organic offering, this song showcases his abilities as a songwriter and performer, and the breadth of his inspiration.

“I wrote the lyrics on a Dutch train during a European tour. I had just heard tough news from home. A friend who had fallen down was suddenly on life support. The words poured out fast and, when I arrived at my hotel, I immediately set the lyrics to music. Once back home in Nashville, the recording session was equally charged and completed in a few hours,” says Tim Easton.

"Take one was the keeper track with me singing and playing guitar along with the band while a friend filmed us recording. Overdubs were added with some percussion, Wurlitzer keyboard and harmony vocals to complete a song that is two-thirds observation and experience and one-third baseball prayers."

Years before Americana music was recognized at the Grammy Awards with its own category, Tim Easton helped pioneer the genre's mix of classic inspiration and contemporary interpretation, writing songs shaped by forebearers such as Doc Watson, Bob Dylan, John Prine and John Hiatt, while moving forward with the modern world.

Born near the Niagara River and raised in upstate New York, Tim Easton spent his formative years in Tokyo, Japan and Akron, Ohio. Traveling early and often, he learned the ways of the road and rails, spending seven years as a modern-day troubadour, making his way around Europe, playing the streets and clubs, living in Paris, London, Madrid, Prague, Dublin and wherever he laid his hat. Here, he developed his songwriting style – folk-based storytelling and personal traveling tales, often peppered with bold confessions or "tell it as it is" reality. Rolling Stone Magazine praised him as "having a novelist's sense of humanity."

“There is a certain helplessness that is involved with the friends and family of people who are in active addiction that is never easy to understand. I have been in this frustrating place before, and all I have is songwriting to help me deal with it. Sometimes we are simply unable to help people get well. May this song bring comfort to those who are right on the edge, barely hanging on. You are not alone,” says Easton.

With 10 critically acclaimed solo albums to date, Tim Easton has had a burgeoning career that has seen him tour the world, perform with music legends, such as Lucinda Williams, John Hiatt, Townes Van Zandt and Kris Kristofferson, and recording with many equally talented musicians (his 2001 album ‘The Truth About Us’ featured three-fourths of Wilco).

His tenth album
‘You Don't Really Know Me’ (2020) was released by Black Mesa Records and will be followed in 2023 by several vinyl re-presses – ‘Not Cool’ and Easton's solo debut ‘Special 20’. This builds on a steady wave of great music from Easton, including North American Songwriter Volume 1 & 2, a 20-song project entailing the start of a series featuring acoustic recordings of favorite songs from Easton’s vast catalog of original material.

‘Sliver of Light’ is out now, available across fine digital platforms, including
Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp. More info about tour dates can be found at www.timeaston.com

Americana Rock / Indie Folk stalwart Beau Jennings revs it up on roaring 'People In This Town' single

“Deeply felt…emotions that cut like a knife” ~ Rolling Stone

“Beau Jennings and the Tigers capture what it's like to feel lost in a familiar place” ~ NPR Music

“Shimmery, pretty production that sands off yesteryear elements that might evoke Creedence Clearwater Revival or alt. country like unrelated namesake, Waylon…it’s honest, modest, humble gentle and emotive” ~ The Big Takeover

“Exceedingly different from anything Jennings — and probably anybody else in Oklahoma — has ever done before” ~ The Daily Oklahoman

"With quite a bit of swagger and a feel-good factor on par with Tom Cochrane, classic Springsteen and even Brian Setzer, Beau Jennings & The Tigers are a beautiful beast we're glad to see unleashed" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

Indie rock outfit
Beau Jennings & The Tigers present their new single 'People in This Town', out June 9 via Oklahoma-based record label Black Mesa Records. What starts as a scrappy ten seconds of scuffling and static emerges as a summer anthem from this Oklahoma band.

With their classic 80’s AM radio American rock n’ roll sound filtered through their collective influences (gospel, country, folk, and indie rock), the single follows 2022's full-length album
'Heavy Light', which drew critical parallels to Tom Petty, The Wallflowers and Bruce Springsteen, and subsequent singles 'I've Got Your Heart Right Here' and 'Midnight Service'.

Jennings' recording has just reached the two decade mark, in that time having collaborated with the likes of Sufjan Stevens, Richard Swift and filmmaker Bradley Beesley (Fearless Freaks, Okie Noodling) and shared the stage with Dwight Yoakam, Robert Cray, Heartless Bastards, Ray Wylie Hubbard and John Moreland.

In this new single, Jennings imagines the patrons of a bar on the outskirts—inspired by a real blink-and-you’ll-miss-it building in his hometown of Norman, Oklahoma. Having barely noticed it for much of his life, a recent drive nearby prompted Jennings to conjure the figures who might be congregating there.

“’People In This Town’ is really just about the overlooked or hidden aspects of a small town that are often taken for granted. Norman, OK is governed by religion, sports, and partying and while that maybe isn’t that different from other places, those are still powerful forces that shape people’s lives,” says Beau Jennings.

“I love driving past this spot just north of town called The Barracuda and just extrapolating from there how it encapsulates all those things at once. It’s not a hip or trendy spot, but people not only go there for all the normal bar reasons but they also go there to celebrate, to mourn, and just live life, whether that’s a positive or negative thing.”

'People in This Town' touches down at the intersection of a trinity of Oklahoman values, for better or worse: sports, religion, and misunderstanding your neighbor. The gentle admonition of the chorus – "People in this town don’t know what they got” – touches a nerve, highlighting the chasm between parallels: what we know, we don’t know and what we don’t know, we don’t know.

It turns out that the bar in question is actually a much-beloved venue that regularly hosts holiday celebrations, bachelorette parties, musical projects and more. It’s a micro-community that most people moving past it would never be aware of. The building has no windows; you have to go in and really listen to find the lightness on the edge of town.

Jennings’ prolific songbook has become increasingly personal. Now 42, his lyrical lens is refocused from a young artist figuring out his identity to ever-changing examinations of family, of home, of our limited time and acute observations of others' lives. Thanks to Tigers guitarist Chase Kerby, drummer Dustin Ragland, organist Chris Wiser, and bassist / sound engineer Michael Trepagnier, he’s also sharpened his knack for memorable hooks.

The band’s MO on upbeat songs is airtightness, the listener receiving a tidy package that's as fun to listen to as it is to perform. It’s rock ‘n’ roll for rock ‘n’ roll’s sake, handclaps and gang vocals propping up Jennings’ words and creating a world where metaphors are swapped with literalisms and vice-versa. Where 2016 saw Jennings
'Back in Town' chronicling a readjustment to being home again after time as an expat, here Jennings is once again on the inside, seeing what else there is to be found.

As of June 9, 'People In This Town' will be available online from fine music platforms, including
Apple Music, SpotifyBandcamp and elsewhere at https://bmr.link/bjt-people-in-this-town.  Beau Jennings & The Tigers will also be playing a series of shows in support of this new release.
