Whiskey Myers Add 'What We Were Born To Do Tour' Dates; New Album Due Sept. 26

Following a high-octane performance in front of an at-capacity Stagecoach crowd this past weekend – including a debut of their brand new single, “Time Bomb” – Whiskey Myers announces new dates for their What We Were Born To Do Tour spanning the country throughout 2025. Presales begin tomorrow, April 29, at 10 a.m. local time for Whiskey Myers app users with tickets on sale to the general public this Friday, May 2 at 10 a.m. local time via WhiskeyMyers.com.

The news follows last week’s announcement of Whomp Whack Thunder, the band’s highly anticipated seventh studio album set to release Sept. 26 via their own Wiggy Thump Records. Channeling the spirit of classic rock through a modern Southern lens – roaring guitars, thunderous drums and lyrics that cut deep – the album is available to pre-order/pre-save HERE

Celebrated by POLLSTAR as “an outlier of alt-country with more thrust, Southern cousin of The Black Keys or spiritual grandchild of Waylon and Willie’s outlaw country,” the genre-defying band will be joined by Bayker Blankenship, Kashus Culpepper, Wade Bowen, Landon Smith, Charles Wesley Godwin, Dexter & The Moonrocks and Colton Bowlin across the slate of new dates – including a special weekend of shows spanning their September album release week.

In addition to the What We Were Born To Do Tour kicking off June 6, Whiskey Myers will also co-headline 15 dates of the Live in 25 Tour with Tedeschi Trucks Band later this year. The six-piece will also headline their own personally curated festivals; the seventh annual Wiggy Thump Festival on May 10 in their hometown of Palestine, Texas and the inaugural Moon Crush “Whiskey Moon” music vacation taking over Miramar Beach, Fla. Nov. 7-9.

About Whiskey Myers
Genre-bending band Whiskey Myers have played nearly 3,000 live shows to ever-increasing crowd sizes since their emergence in 2007. In addition to headlining their own sold-out shows from coast to coast at iconic venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Ryman Auditorium, plus performing at marquee festivals Bonnaroo, Stagecoach, Download and more, the six-piece was also personally selected to open The Rolling Stones’ Chicago stadium show. The band is poised to begin their next chapter with their highly-anticipated seventh studio album Whomp Whack Thunder arriving Sept. 26 via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records, with lead single “Time Bomb” available everywhere now. Their previous project, Tornillo, featured the No. 17 most-played Americana song of 2022, “John Wayne,” and followed breakthrough album Whiskey Myers, which debuted at No. 1 on both the Country and Americana/Folk sales charts, at No. 2 on the Rock chart and No. 6 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart (No. 3 among new releases). In total, Whiskey Myers have sold more than 2.4 million albums and amassed over 3.7 billion streams while earning nine RIAA Gold, Platinum and multi-Platinum certifications as an independent band. Known for their high-energy live show and unique sound, the band praised by Esquire as “the real damn deal” has also earned sync success with features in Paramount’s hit shows “Yellowstone” (including an on-screen performance) and “Landman,” plus Netflix series “What/If,” Angelina Jolie film “Those Who Wish Me Dead” and CBS series “SEAL Team,” among others. USA Today describes their sound as “a riff-heavy blend of Southern rock and gritty country that has earned comparisons to the Allman Brothers Band and Led Zeppelin,” with Rolling Stone noting “it’s the seminal combination of twang and crunchy rock & roll guitars that hits a perfect sweet spot.”

Whiskey Myers Bring the 'Thunder' with New Album Due Sept. 26; Lead Single "Time Bomb" Out Now

With cryptic videos sending fans into a frenzy to catch hidden clues and uncover their meaning, Whiskey Myers now officially confirm details of a new album on the way. The genre-defying six piece is back and bolder than ever with Whomp Whack Thunder, their highly anticipated seventh studio album set to release Sept. 26 via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records. Channeling the spirit of classic rock through a modern Southern lens – roaring guitars, thunderous drums and lyrics that cut deep – the album is available to pre-order/pre-save HERE.

Born from the piney woods of East Texas and shaped in the soul of Nashville during an immersive three weeks with renowned producer Jay Joyce – known for bringing edge, atmosphere and unpredictability to every project (Eric Church, Cage the Elephant, Halestorm, Lainey Wilson) – Whomp Whack Thunder is a strong statement from the multi-Platinum independent band.

A raw, hard-hitting preview arrives today, April 23, with lead single “Time Bomb,” capturing the energy of a band pushing boundaries without losing their roots. Listen HERE ahead of the song’s live debut at Stagecoach this Friday, April 25, offering a first glimpse at what promises to be one of the most dynamic records in Whiskey Myers’ catalog.

“We didn’t set out to chase a specific sound—we set out to make a Whiskey Myers record,” reflects lead guitarist John Jeffers. “Jay pulled something out of us that’s raw and real, and every track’s got a piece of our story in it. This album’s about where we’ve been, what we’ve lived and the scars we earned along the way – and I think Whomp Whack Thunder might just be our most fearless album yet.”

Whomp Whack Thunder is the sound of a band at the height of its powers, marrying Southern swagger with arena-sized rock and soul-searching songwriting. Frontman Cody Cannon penned all eleven tracks solo, delivering stories that hit with the emotional weight of lived experience and the firepower of their signature sound. From the breakneck energy of “Tailspin” to the introspective grit of “Icarus” and the raucous stomp of “Ramblin’ Jones,” it’s a record born of the road and shaped by nearly two decades of defiant, grassroots momentum.

The album features the full force of the band – Cannon (vocals, guitar), Jeffers (guitar), Cody Tate (guitar), Jamey Gleaves (bass), Jeff Hogg (drums) and Tony Kent (percussion, piano) – with Joyce also contributing keys, organ and guitar, crafting a sonic landscape that stretches from greasy blues-rock riffs to gospel-tinged country soul.

Ahead of the fall release, fans can catch early previews of the new music on the What We Were Born To Do Tour, kicking off June 6 and hitting cities across the U.S. throughout the summer. Whiskey Myers also co-headlines 14 dates of the Live in 25 Tour with Tedeschi Trucks Band later this year in addition to headlining their own personally curated festivals; the seventh annual Wiggy Thump Festival on May 10 in their hometown of Palestine, Texas and the inaugural Moon Crush “Whiskey Moon” music vacation taking over Miramar Beach, Fla. Nov. 7-9.

Whiskey Myers Celebrate 5 New RIAA Certifications During "Fox & Friends" All-American Summer Concert Series

While appearing live on the “Fox & Friends” All-American Summer Concert Series today, Aug. 9, genre-bending band Whiskey Myers added to their Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) hardware with a surprise presentation of five new Gold, Platinum and multi-Platinum certifications (denoted with asterisks below), bringing their total to nine RIAA-certified hits, a rare feat for an independent band:

  • “Stone” (2x Platinum)*

  • “Bury My Bones” (Platinum)*

  • “Ballad of a Southern Man” (Platinum)

  • “Broken Window Serenade” (Platinum)

  • Firewater (Gold)

  • “Reckoning” (Gold)*

  • “Bar, Guitar and a Honky Tonk Crowd” (Gold)*

  • “Lonely East Texas Nights” (Gold)*

  • “Virginia” (Gold)

The chart-topping band performed two of those Platinum-certified songs, “Bury My Bones” and “Broken Window Serenade,” as well as fan-favorite “Die Rockin'” plus “John Wayne” and “Feets” off their latest album, Tornillo, lauded by Forbes as “difficult to categorize or pigeonhole because it’s uniquely their own... constantly pushing the creative envelope,” with Saving Country Music declaring the album to be “unapologetic and attitudinal,” noting, “Tonrillo brings an energy, drive, pluck, and abandon most of modern music in this repressed era has vacated due to fear of reprisal. Rock music needs saving too, and Whiskey Myers is here to pick up the slack."

Whiskey Myers' appearance comes as the band brings their high-octane live show celebrated by Holler as a “six-piece concoction of southern rock, blue-collar country and rock 'n' roll... solidifying Whiskey Myers' place among the leading jam bands of the 21st century” to Atlantic City, N.J. tonight, Aug. 9; Virginia Beach, Va. (with Hank Williams, Jr.) tomorrow, Aug. 10; and Selbyville, Del. on Sunday, Aug. 11 as their headlining run continues throughout the U.S. until November. Tickets to all dates are on sale now via WhiskeyMyers.com.

Whiskey Myers Victory Lane Awaits Each High Limit Racing Night for 2024 Sprint Car Season

Multi-Platinum chart-toppers Whiskey Myers have joined the soundtrack of the 2024 High Limit Racing season, with the genre-bending band signing on as the sponsor of Whiskey Myers Victory Lane

With the lyrics “Put me back in the saddle out on the road; The way I make a livin’ is the only way I know” epitomizing the spirit behind High Limit Racing, Whiskey Myers’ high-energy song “The Wolf” will be the official victory song played as the victor rolls into Whiskey Myers Victory Lane each race night. Check out the full version of the song on High Limit Racing’s Spotify Playlist (a “clean” version will be used in all FloRacing broadcasts and at-track).

“We loved getting to know Rico Abreu with our partnership last season – seeing our name on his sprint car was something we never imagined when we started a band,” shared Whiskey Myers drummer Jeff Hogg. “With Rico joining High Limit Racing full time in 2024, we knew we wanted to follow his lead.”

In addition to the at-track and in-stream partnership, the Whiskey Myers Minute, a one-minute compilation of that week’s High Limit Racing highlights, will be posted to High Limit’s Instagram account following each race week with various Whiskey Myers songs being featured.

“Not only does Whiskey Myers produce great music that fits the grassroots racing brand, the members of the band are also genuine race fans,” said Kendra Jacobs, Chief Marketing and Events Officer at High Limit Racing. “From support of our series to their partnership with Rico (Abreu), Whiskey Myers invests in sprint car racing and truly sees the value of the sports’ fan base and its growth potential.”

Whiskey Myers Victory Lane and “The Wolf” will be featured starting with the High Limit Racing season opener at East Bay Raceway Park on February 12 and 13. The 59-race nationwide season will conclude with a two-day finale at The Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway on October 11 and 12. Tickets for select events, including the season-opening “Battle at the Bay” are now available here

“Visual art has always been really important to us as a band,” reflects Whiskey Myers guitarist John Jeffers, who designed the cover art for the Whiskey Myers self-titled album as well as various tour art for the band. “Whether that’s the design on our album covers or the items at our merch booth, we see art as a way to tell even more of our music’s story. We loved what SoundWaves brought to the table for our own shows, and we’re excited to partner with them to help create art for even more artists.”

“I’m a collector of all things music, and since the inception of SoundWaves we have implemented an archiving system highlighting supply, collaboration and year produced,” notes SoundWaves’ Fosco. “This system was designed to effectively communicate with the mind of a collector. We create media; we don’t create posters. Our media is created by a team of directors, producers, illustrators, applicators... This creative process was put in place to raise the bar on collectible music-based art.”

About Whiskey Myers
Genre-bending band Whiskey Myers have played more than 2,500 live shows to ever-increasing crowd sizes since their emergence in 2007. In addition to headlining their own sold-out shows from coast to coast at iconic venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheater and Ryman Auditorium, plus performing at marquee festivals Bonnaroo, Stagecoach, Download and more, the six-piece was also personally selected to open The Rolling Stones’ Chicago stadium show in 2019. Their latest self-produced album, Tornillo, available everywhere now via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records, features the No. 17 most-played Americana song of 2022, “John Wayne,” and follows their fifth studio album, Whiskey Myers, which debuted at No. 1 on both the Country and Americana/Folk sales charts, at No. 2 on the Rock chart and No. 6 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart (No. 3 among new releases). In total, Whiskey Myers have sold more than 1.5 million albums and amassed over 2 billion streams while earning six RIAA Gold & Platinum certifications as an independent band. Known for their high-energy live show and unique sound, the band praised by Esquire as “the real damn deal” has also earned synch success with features (and an on-screen appearance) in Paramount’s hit show “Yellowstone” as well as Netflix series “What/If,” Angelina Jolie film “Those Who Wish Me Dead” and CBS series “SEAL Team.” USA Today describes their sound as “a riff-heavy blend of Southern rock and gritty country that has earned comparisons to the Allman Brothers Band and Led Zeppelin,” with Rolling Stone noting “it’s the seminal combination of twang and crunchy rock & roll guitars that hits a perfect sweet spot.”

About Waylon Jennings
Waylon Jennings was an award-winning singer-songwriter, musician and actor. Between 1965 and 1995, Jennings had sixteen singles and eleven albums top the Billboard charts, and throughout his career he was awarded multiple GRAMMYs, CMA and ACM awards and had six consecutive albums go certified gold or higher. While Jennings was notably the pioneer of the Outlaw country movement, his music has gone on to influence a myriad of artists and music cultures in country, rock and beyond.

Whiskey Myers Return to Red Rocks for Two Night Stand, June 14 & 15

Multi-Platinum Band to Headline June 14 & 15 With Support by Whitey Morgan and Ray Wylie Hubbard Plus The Record Company and Brent Cobb

Tickets Available This Friday, Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. Local Time via
WhiskeyMyers.com

Following a 2022 Red Rocks Amphitheatre debut that sold out in a single day, genre-bending renegades Whiskey Myers return to the iconic open-air setting for two nights this summer, headlining June 14 with support by Whitey Morgan and Ray Wylie Hubbard and June 15 with support by The Record Company and Brent Cobb.

Presales begin tomorrow, Feb. 14, at 10 a.m. local time, with tickets on sale to the general public this Friday, Feb. 17, at 10 a.m. local time via WhiskeyMyers.com.

“An outlier of alt-country with more thrust, Southern cousin of the Black Keys or spiritual grandchild of Waylon and Willie’s Outlaw Country, Whiskey Myers is currently taking a regional movement global,” declared POLLSTAR in the cover story celebrating the band’s initial outing at the historic venue, adding “Whiskey Myers offers sobering pieces of broken lives that go unseen.”

“Red Rocks had always been a bucket-list venue for us, to the point where we didn’t even go see a show there as fans, because we wanted our first time seeing it to be from the stage as headliners,” reflects guitarist John Jeffers. “For our fans to share that excitement with us the way they did was a magical experience and we can’t wait to do it again – twice – this summer.”

Today’s announcement builds upon the anticipation for Whiskey Myers’ headlining 2023 tour, kicking off this Thursday, Feb. 16, with many dates already sold out. The tour comes on the heels of the band’s 2022 Tornillo Tour which played to nearly 300,000 fans in support of their critically acclaimed album Tornillo, praised by American Songwriter for putting Whiskey Myers “in a league of their own with their signature hard-rocking sound on full display” and released in 2022 via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records with distribution by Thirty Tigers.

Fans will also have a chance to see this signature sound live when the band supports Eric Church on multiple dates of The Outsiders Revival Tour this fall, with Nashville Lifestyles adding, “Southern rock is alive and well on Whiskey Myers’ Tornillo – and it comes with a brassy border-town swagger… Equal parts train songs, tenacious energy, and Tabasco… their lawless musicality burns like the sun.”

Whiskey Myers Will Again Sponsor the "4-Wide Salute To The Fans" and Now Be a Part of The World of Outlaws Contingency Program

Multi-Platinum band Whiskey Myers is bringing its rock ‘n’ roll energy back to the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series in 2023 in multiple ways.

The band will continue to be the presenting sponsor of Johnny Gibson’s famous “4-Wide Salute to the Fans” at all World of Outlaws Sprint Car races and will now also be a part of the Series’ contingency program for drivers.

“As a fan of World of Outlaws, it was exciting to be able to partner with them last season and to become more involved in the sport,” shares Whiskey Myers drummer Jeff Hogg. “We’re excited to come back in a bigger way this year to support the series and the drivers and we can’t wait to get the season underway!”

This will be the first full World of Outlaws season that Whiskey Myers’ genre-bending music is paired with the “4-wide” call, beginning with the season-opening event at Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals, Feb. 9-11. And, as part of the contingency program to reward more money to drivers at the end of the night, the band’s logo will be featured on all full-time World of Outlaws drivers’ cars throughout the year, along with awarding $50 each Feature to any driver – with the Whiskey Myers decal on their car – who finishes sixth.

Whiskey Myers shares its birthplace with the World of Outlaws, having formed in Texas and now selling out shows across the globe.
