About Charlotte Sands

Charlotte Sands isn’t afraid to speak or play loud. In November of 2020, she leaked a song called "Dress" that she wrote about Harry Styles wearing a dress on the cover of Vogue. Within hours, the song became an anthem of self-expression for thousands (now, millions) of listeners across the globe.

The electric-blue-haired singer/songwriter’s musical career didn’t start with the overnight success of a viral song. At 18, she stole her mom's car, found a roommate on Craigslist, and left her home in Hopkinton, MA for Nashville, TN, with a plan to take a year off of school before attending Berklee College of Music. She never went back.

In the years leading up to her debut album can we start over?, released early 2024, Sands has been prolific – constantly releasing music, charting at Top 40 Radio in the US as an independent artist for over 15 weeks, nominations for Breakthrough Artist at A2IM’s Libera Awards, taking home an award at London’s Heavy Music Awards, and touring with legendary acts like My Chemical Romance and 5 Seconds Of Summer.

Through it all, Sands remains true to her personal mission of “creating a safe space for all to feel accepted and celebrated for their weirdness and diversity.” And as evident by the overwhelmingly positive comments that flood her social media, her fans take pride in championing her as they recognize how she champions them.

I've been dreaming of covering this song for the entire length of my career - and this opportunity seemed like the perfect fit. I was able to get into the studio with a long time collaborator of mine - Keith Sorrells - and lose myself in the music. I recorded the entire song in one take, lying on the floor in a pitch black vocal booth, channeling all of the depth the song holds. Thank you again to Sumerian Records for having me - what a pleasure this was to create."

Nathan Yocum, President of Sumerian Comics, adds:

About Royal & the Serpent

Royal & the Serpent is an artist entirely unafraid to bare the deepest and darkest parts of her psyche. After making her Atlantic Records debut with the 2020 EP, get a grip – highlighted by the RIAA Gold-certified single “Overwhelmed,” which spent 22 weeks on Billboard’s “Alternative Airplay” chart – the L.A.-based singer-songwriter revealed even more of her frenetic inner world in 2022 with IF I DIED WOULD ANYONE CARE and Happiness Is An Inside Job. Royal introduced fans to the “royalverse” in 2023, dropping 4 double-sided RAT TRAP singles throughout the year. Among the highlights, RAT TRAP I: the blueprint features the powerfully inspiring, fan favorite LGBTQ+ anthem, “One Nation Underdogs.” *RAT TRAP 2: the burn *****arrived next, followed by RAT TRAP 3: the band-aid and RAT TRAP 4: the burden.

While working as a bartender, Royal soon started self-releasing her music, beginning with her spellbinding 2017 single “Temperance.” Thanks to the buzz behind songs like 2019’s “Weddings & Funerals” and “Salvador Dali” – as well as her electrifying live show – she eventually inked a deal with Atlantic and released “Overwhelmed” in the early days of Covid lockdown.

Royal’s unfiltered songwriting has proved wildly resonant to her ever-growing fanbase, building a close-knit community of fans undeniably drawn to her one-of-a-kind balance of intense sensitivity and unruly self-possession. “The main reason I make music is that it’s the best therapy I could ever ask for: the process of taking everything in my brain and putting it on paper and then singing it out loud for people is so helpful and healing for me. The idea that my own expression can affect people in positive ways is such a blessing and a gift; I don’t ever take it lightly. I just want to keep telling my truth and reach as many people as I possibly can, and see where this little journey takes us.

About Carpenter Brut

Carpenter Brut draws its influences from 80s TV shows and B-movies loaded with synthesizers. The mysterious and discreet man behind the pentagon – or the Brutagram as his fans would call it – evokes an encounter between Justice beats and the universe of John Carpenter. Listening to his home-made EPs, however, one would rather bet on a metalhead background, a crush for Dario Argento and a force-fed religious education. This would explain his penchant for the occult, his passion for kitsch sounds and his adoration for all kinds of enjoyment. Carpenter Brut pays tribute to the post-hippie/pre-AIDS culture that then set the basis of electro and metal to give us a unique, violent and crazy 80s revival sound.

They then toured the US with Falling In Reverse on their Popular Monstour run and hit the road for 'Fear The Premiere' US headline shows in August. Ice Nine Kills closed out 2023 on a high with the release of ' Welcome To Horrorwood Under Fire ', an exclusive VIP event in Hollywood for the debut of new single "Meat & Greet" and the premiere of the full "Welcome To Horrorwood Saga" movies (featuring all music videos from the album as one chronological clip) and the phenomenally successful, inaugural run of the Kiss of Death co- headline tour with In This Moment.

Bad Omens slither through boundaries, only to ultimately choke convention in the process. The quartet—Noah Sebastian (vocals), Joakim “Jolly” Karlsson (guitar), Nick Ruffilo (bass), and Nick Folio (drums)—materialize with ghostly atmospherics, striking hooks, and the tingles of sensual high-register harmonies uplifted by cinematic production. Racking up over 250M worldwide streams to date and earning acclaim, the band presents an uncompromising and undeniable vision on their third full-length album, 'THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND' (Sumerian Records).

“Making the record changed us as songwriters and musicians. In many ways, I feel like it set me free as an artist because every decision made in the writing process was for myself, with no fear for anyone else’s expectations of what our third album should sound like. Be it our fans or our record label.”

They’ve always wielded this level of magic though…

The group’s 2016 self-titled debut, 'Bad Omens', yielded fan favorites such as “Glass Houses” and “The Worst In Me” which eclipsed 40 million Spotify streams. On its heels, 2019’s 'Finding God Before God Finds Me' spawned “Dethrone” (29.2 million Spotify streams) and “Careful What You Wish For”. Along the way, they toured with numerous marquee acts and received tastemaker praise.

After their first headline tour was canceled mid-way at the top of the global pandemic, the band found themselves at home in Los Angeles with plenty of time. Where they absorbed and imparted a different palette of unexpected inspirations. Channeling what the frontman describes at times as a “cursive sound” they embraced newfound confidence and boundlessly loose creativity. Anything went in the studio, and all “rules” were broken. Noah and Jolly wrote, produced, and engineered the music themselves while GRAMMY® Award-nominated producer and songwriter Zakk Cervini (Halsey, Grimes, Poppy, blink-182) lent his talents with the mix and master. Challenging himself, Noah decided to “make a track sampling items around the house, none of which were musical instruments”.

This ultimately became the framework for the first single “THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND”. Claps puncture the icy soundscape as his voice stretches from a breathy moan into an evocative and entrancing hook, breaking from a whisper into the seductive chant, “It wasn’t hard to realize. Love’s the death of peace of mind.” It culminates on a climactic scream uplifted by a distorted crunch.

“The whole record really details the loss of peace of mind,” he explains. “The lyrics in the title track are a little more specific in terms of the conflict at the heart of something more intimate and personal.”

By speaking it aloud, Bad Omens offer a level of comfort and empathy, with a sinister shroud. At the same time, they also give rock music a sexy new shape on 'THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND'.

“Sonically, we want to do something you can’t arrive late or early too,” he leaves off. “You can’t cheat your way to the final act. You have to get on the ride and process it until the end. The songs are meant to be heard from start to finish. We want you to take the whole trip with us.”

SUMERIAN COMICS and THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN Team Up For Brand New Graphic Novel, ONE OF US IS THE KILLER.

Sumerian Comics announced today ONE OF US IS THE KILLER, a brand new graphic novel inspired by the 2013 fifth studio album from mathcore band, The Dillinger Escape Plan and from Rock & Roll Hell creators, Sam Romesburg and Ben Roberts, visionary artist Greg Di Angilla (Rock & Roll Hell), and colorist Warnia Sahadewa (Doctor Who).

Speaking on todays' announcement, Dillinger Escape Plan founder and guitarist, Ben Weinman shares

"The 'One of Us Is the Killer' collaboration with Sumerian Records remains one of The D.E.P's most artistically ambitious achievements to this day. Seeing Ash Avildsen and the creative team at the newly founded Sumerian Comics, use this album as the influence for another equally ambitious artistic endeavor is amazing. I can't wait to hold one of these things in my hands, just like I did with the many comic books I enjoyed as a kid."

A string of assassinations made by a politically-motivated killer known only to the public as The Quill serves as the spark to ignite a full scale revolution. Set in a technologically advanced American City in the not too distant future, VERTICAL INTEGRATION CORP. has seized all means of production and capital available, creating a financial synergy unlike any that has ever existed. Employees work and live in this living city-sized factory supporting the lives of the ruling business class while subjected to living in tenements. The Quill is the never-seen but oft spoken hero of the lower-class.

Writers Ben Roberts and Sam Romesburg stated they were inspired to take the intention behind the album title and use it to form a story focusing on a relationship larger than that of which exists between two people, and focus on a relationship between a government and its people. The writers pulled multiple references from the album that fans of the band will be able to catch on to, while also allowing several themes from the songs themselves influence the trajectory of the story.

ONE OF US IS THE KILLER features main cover art by series artist Greg Di Angilla and colors by series colorist, Warnia Sahadewa. Bundles will be available soon from Sumerian Comics containing various items that complement the physical hardback.

Limited twenty-two page preview copies of ONE OF US IS THE KILLER will be available at WonderCon in Anaheim, CA and The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist, Ben Weinman will be signing copies at 1pm PST on March 26th.

About Ben Weinman

Ben Weinman is the founder and sole constant member throughout the band’s career, and is currently playing rhythm guitar with Suicidal Tendencies and the supergroup Giraffe Tongue Orchestra. Ben also has an animal sanctuary at his home in New Jersey and is in development on a children’s 2D animated series: Jupiter Rocks! The 52 x 11′ musical comedy for upper preschool (ages four to seven) is set for delivery in Q2 2025.

Jupiter Rocks! follows the life of a guitar-playing seven-year-old whose life is uprooted when her mom becomes Earth’s Planet Ambassador to Jupiter. Penelope meets many challenges as she navigates living in a wacky new world, but uses humor, and her natural musical abilities to solve daily obstacles with her new group of friends. Speaking on the project, Weinman comments

“We created Jupiter Rocks! (JR) to not only showcase diversity and inclusion but to show our children that it is often our differences that become strengths! Every episode promises an exciting adventure where our main character and her friends solve their problems with creative and musical solutions. Much like I did growing up in an educational system that often didn’t reward the more ‘Right Brain’ kids out there. Our goal is also to create programming that can be enjoyed and discussed by both children and their parents, creating an opportunity for connection that will last a lifetime.”
