Jason Becker (And Friends, Like Nita Strauss) Share "Some Assembly Required" Video — WATCH

NITA STRAUSS + TOP GUITARISTS IN THE WORLD RALLY AROUND FELLOW LEGEND JASON BECKER TO CREATE "SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED" IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE JASON BECKER SPECIAL NEEDS TRUST

"Some Assembly Required" is a collaboration project conceptualized by Josh Villalta and Nita Strauss, combining some of the top guitarists in the world to do something incredibly special in tribute to this once-in-a-lifetime musician — Jason Becker.

Utilizing an unreleased demo of Becker's, Strauss, along with Zakk Wylde, Steve Vai, Chris Broderick, Phil Demmel, Jennifer Batten, and many more, came together, lending their hearts and souls into what's become an unforgettable, unmissable display of guitar mastery.

"Some Assembly Required" has quickly turned into a powerful display that is equal parts a six-string love-story and a call for action for us all to take a closer look at what can be done to help others suffering from the same degenerative disease that took hold of Becker.

"The original idea Josh put forward was to to work together on a song for my own album," Strauss shares. "We poured through lots of Jason's demos until we landed on this track, which was originally recorded with Gregg and Matt Bissonette. However, as the idea materialized, we realized this could be a much bigger project and more importantly, have a bigger impact to help Jason raise awareness and funds. From there, it took on a life of its own! The incredible Billy Sheehan came down to the studio and played bass, and we reached out to tons of Jason's friends and peers, from all genres and eras, and amassed an army of friends to trade solos on this track. We left Jason's original demo solo where it was, where it shines to this day alongside so many of the players that love and look up to him. We were able to send this video to Jason on Christmas Day and bring some holiday cheer to him and his family! He loved it and christened it with the name we have today — 'Some Assembly Required.'"

For an insider's look on how Becker's guitar family came together for this harrowing tribute, allow Strauss to explain in this exclusive short!

For those who may not know of Jason Becker's legacy, we'd have to travel back to 1985 when 16-year-old guitarist, Becker, partnered up with Marty Friedman as the duo Cacophony. His success at such an early age was no coincidence, his metal mastery becoming a talking point amongst his peers, going on to support some of the biggest names in rock including David Lee Roth and create some huge guitar moments as a solo artist.

As Becker's career began to blossom, Jason was diagnosed with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease) in 1989 — at just 20 years old. As the disease progressed, Jason no longer could hold on to the instrument, but the urge to continue pushed on as he, amazingly, engineered his own way of writing music, a technique using "eye geometry" and chin movements, described further in the documentary on Becker's journey.

Head here to be fully inspired by the trailer for the film, Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet, a compilation of interviews, live footage, and more on the unbreakable spirit and the ingenious songwriting ability of the guitarist that influenced so many.

The guitar community has spoken and is asking for all of us to stand up and be an ally to Jason Becker and his family as he continues fighting this battle. There is an ongoing struggle to find a full-time caregiver, making proper help seem a hugely daunting challenge. Already saddled with the daily task of staying alive against all odds, there comes additional stress and worry for Jason and his family for all of the many out-of-pocket medical fees.

Keeping positive and consistently creating is essential for Becker, so we invite you to keep up with his latest creations through his website, www.JasonBecker.com and to visit here if you are able to donate to the Jason Becker Special Needs Trust.

Fresh off the news that she would be returning to her role as guitarist with the legendary Alice Cooper, Los Angeles-born guitar hero and musical force of nature Nita Strauss has just announced her brand new album The Call of the The Void, out July 7 via Sumerian Records. Pre-order it
here.

Regarding the album's title, Strauss shares, "Have you ever been at the top of a high building and had the fleeting thought, '… I could jump right now?'

"This feeling is sometimes called 'The Call of the Void,' also known as 'high place phenomenon.' It's not a suicidal impulse, rather the exact opposite — a subconscious decision to live your life, to step back from the ledge, and take control. As researcher April Smith aptly put it: 'An urge to jump affirms the urge to live.'

"I wanted the follow up to Controlled Chaos to be exciting, new, and fresh, to take listeners to a new place and take myself somewhere new as an artist too. We have some amazing collaborations on this album with incredible musicians, as well as the instrumental guitar music that first inspired me to play.

"Some pieces of music come into the world gracefully and easily. This album is not one of them! The Call of the Void was born kicking and screaming, a labor of love for sure, but also of blood, sweat and plenty of tears. I couldn’t be more proud of the end result. Making this album helped me learn and grow so much as a musician and songwriter and I'm excited to finally unleash it on the world."

"When I was first learning how to play guitar, In Flames were my Beatles; my first favorite band," Strauss shares. "Anders' iconic vocal style is burned into my mind! To write a song like this and have him sing on it, as a kid who grew up with In Flames posters on my walls, is an absolute dream come true."

"“It was a lot of fun to collaborate with Nita on 'The Golden Trail,'" says Fridén. "She's an amazing guitar player and I can hear the history of metal flowing through her fingers!"

In Flames' fourteenth studio album Foregone is out now. It’s an unequivocal masterpiece from a band whose artistry and influence on modern metal is undeniable Foregone combines the greatest aggressive, metallic, and melodic strengths of the band's landmark records with the seasoned song writing of their contemporary era. Alice Cooper Announces Band Update

NITA STRAUSS BACK WITH ALICE COOPER FOR 2023

Nita Strauss, the top-rated guitarist who had been with Alice Cooper for several years until she departed to do a Fall 2022 tour with Demi Lovato, will be returning to Alice's band for his 2023 tour, Cooper's management disclosed today.

The Alice Cooper North American tour, with an all-new show dubbed "Too Close For Comfort," kicks off in late April in Michigan and continues through late September, including a handful of August stadium shows with Def Leppard + Motley Crue, followed by a co-headlining late summer "Freaks On Parade" tour with Rob Zombie.

Said Alice, "She's Back!  Nita asked for a leave of absence to work with someone else, something I always encourage my band members to do. I like them to challenge themselves and try new things. I'm thankful to my old friend Kane Roberts for stepping up and filling in for her, but she'll be back with us for the new tour that starts up in late April. It's going to be great to have her back."

Nita commented, "From the studio to the stage, it's always an immense honor to make music with Alice Cooper!! I'm very excited to be rejoining the band on the road for the 2023 dates, and so I'll see you on the road in April. Let the nightmare return!"

Nita Strauss Enlists Vocals From Alissa White-Gluz On Brand New Single; "The Wolf You Feed"

Superstar guitarist and unstoppable force of nature, "Hurricane" NITA STRAUSS, has dropped brand new single and accompanying music video, "The Wolf You Feed", today. The epic, headbanger of a track features huge, chunky, metallic riffs and the insane vocal talent of ALISSA WHITE-GLUZ of Arch Enemy. Stream the new track on your platform of choice HERE and watch the music video below.

Speaking on her new release, NITA shares

If you look back at old interviews from the last ten years, any time I was asked about collaborating with a vocalist in the future, Alissa White-Gluz was always the first name out of my mouth. She is truly one of my favorite vocalists and performers in the industry and creating this track together was everything I hoped it would be!

I’m very proud to release this track, especially now with everything else that’s going on. This time in history, whether in politics, music, social media, or our personal lives, has been an eye opening look into the two wolves of a lot of people out there, and maybe this song will be a reminder that we all have the ability to choose how we respond to things.

The lyrics of this song were inspired by “The Story of the Two Wolves”, a legend widely attributed to Native American storytellers.

An old grandfather was teaching his grandson about life:

“A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.

“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil–he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”

He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you–and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf will win?”

The grandfather simply replied, “The one you feed".

ALISSA adds

Nita and I finally got to collaborate - something we have both wanted to do for years! The Wolf You Feed is a kickass, catchy metal track with a really cool vibe. I kept the “two wolves” analogy as a foundation throughout the song while playing up the dichotomy of the two sides of the tug-of-war we all have inside us. I recorded my parts in my home studio and it was an absolute pleasure to build this song with Nita. I am honoured to be a part of it! Can’t wait to do this again!

"Wolf You Feed", is the second song Nita has released featuring a star guest vocalist, the first being the enormously successful "Dead Inside" which featured guest vocals from Disturbed's David Draiman and saw NITA become the first ever solo female to have a #1 hit at Active Rock Radio. She also returned to her instrumental roots earlier this year with the release of single "Summer Storm", a fast-paced, emotive shred-fest. Combined, the two singles have had 3.5 million YouTube views and over 10 million streams on Spotify alone.

NITA has been hard at work on her second solo studio album. More news to come on that soon.

Nita Strauss Enlists David Draiman Of Disturbed For New Track "Dead Inside"

Superstar guitarist and unstoppable force of nature, "Hurricane" NITA STRAUSS, has unleashed her brand new single, "Dead Inside" today, her first new music since the release of her critically acclaimed debut solo album 'Controlled Chaos' in 2018. But this time, NITA isn't coming alone. "Dead Inside" features her first ever solo collaboration with a vocalist and not just any vocalist, none other than DAVID DRAIMAN, frontman of Grammy Nominated rock icons, DISTURBED. Stream "Dead Inside" here and watch the official music video below.

"Dead Inside" is the kind of rare musical alchemy that can only be conjured by the serendipitous collaboration of two iconic hard rock powerhouses such as NITA STRAUSS and DAVID DRAIMAN. It kicks off with NITA's inimitably intricate lead guitar work that as the intro builds, it begins to snake its way around the ground-shaking, head-banging lead riff as JOSH VILLALTA's technical and bombastic drums kick in. Then comes the unmistakable vocal prowess of DAVID DRAIMAN as he delivers his unique signature brand of enormously catchy vocal melody and a stadium-conquering chorus. The song ebbs and flows through sonic and emotional dynamics and culminates with a brutally heavy beatdown into a final rendition of the chorus, ensuring that the lead hook will be replaying over and over in the listener's head for days.

Speaking on their history making collaboration, NITA STRAUSS shares

"This is my first time releasing my own music with a vocalist, and I am so honored to take this step alongside a legend like David Draiman. David’s voice and powerful lyrics took this song to a level I could never have imagined! And we are so excited to unleash this song on the world."

DAVID DRAIMAN adds

"Serendipity can be really cool. We’ve been friends for years.

Nita sent me the track…I didn’t have time to work on it right away…then in literally a couple of days, while killing time in Santa Monica, the whole thing just came together. Incredibly proud of how it turned out and honored to be a part of it."

NITA has been hard at work on her second solo studio album. More news to come on that soon.

NITA also recently announced that she will be hitting the road at the end of the year for her Winter Wasteland 2021 headline tour. The trek kicks off in New Orleans, LA on November 10th and hits a further 28 cities across North America, culminating in Angola, IN on December 18th.
