Powerhouse metal outfit SYLOSIS have surprise released their new EP The Path ahead of their upcoming co-headlining tour with FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY.

On the release of the The Path, Josh Middleton comments:

“When we were working on ASOTTC we amassed a lot of material. It was a very creative period and the songs that didn’t make it onto ASOTTC were by no means below standard - far from it! We’re extremely excited to share with you The Path EP. Some of our best material to date! We hope you enjoy it”

The band have also released a video for its title track featuring Debbie Gough of HERIOT, who will be joining the band as support across the UK and Europe.

On the EP's title track, Josh continues:

“The Path is about my love and obsession for heavy music. It’s all I need. It’s never been a phase or something I’ll grow out of. I’m immersed in this culture and more than anything, I am still a rabid fan! I think previously writing a song about this kind of thing would have been a no-go for me. Maybe it could be perceived as corny or ‘out of character’ compared to some of the band's previous lyrics but this feels like a very important song to me.”

Alongside the album release, COMEBACK KID has unveiled a high-energy live performance video directed by Dylan Gould for the focus track “Face the Fire”.

Neufeld had this to say about their latest video, “We were finally able to operate as a band again and tour over the last 5 months and this new video 'Face The Fire' is a collection of footage and photos that I collected over that time. It is an accurate reflection of what our live shows encompass and that specific energy that we have missed so much."

Featuring the riff-heavy first single “No Easy Way Out”, the tone-setting dynamic title track with punishing bass lines, masterful drumming, and an infectious singalong chorus (“Heavy Steps”), and the no-frills metallic hardcore banger “Crossed”, Heavy Steps embodies all the things that make COMEBACK KID so revered in their genre. The record is fast, fun, beautifully crafted melodic hardcore. Heavy Steps, which follows the hardcore veteran’s 2017’s critically acclaimed full-length Outsider, sees the band returning to their roots both geographically and musically. Although the members of the band are currently residing across Canada in Winnipeg, Toronto, and Vancouver, the band decided to write and record their latest effort in the band’s originating city of Winnipeg, Manitoba atPrivate Ear Recording Studio and once again enlisted the services of producer John Paul Peters (CANCER BATS, PROPAGANDHI) who recorded the band’s debut album Turn It Around. In addition to co-production by Peters, on Heavy Steps, COMEBACK KID collaborated with prominent Grammy award-winning mixer and long-time fan of the band Will Putney (KNOCKED LOOSE, EVERY TIME I DIE). Featuring guest appearances by GOJIRA’s Joe Duplantier, Heavy Steps is no longer a prerequisite to realizing COMEBACK KID’s influence on modern punk, but a delivery of pure anthemic chaos, sheer speed, and force. It is a statement of intent.

San Diego quartet AS I LAY DYING unleashed their seventh full-length album Shaped By Fire onto the world via Nuclear Blast on September 20, 2019. Today, the band releases the Shaped By Fire (Deluxe Version) which features live and instrumental versions as well as re-interpretations of the original tracks. Phil Sgrosso comments: "The initial idea was to create a deluxe version stemmed from leftover material written for the Shaped By Fire album. Some of it was re-purposed for b-sides and several tracks were used for the live show exclusively, until now.

More recently. we had an interest to recreate 'My Own Grave' into a more stripped-down/orchestral version inspired by the 90’s 'Unplugged' era that we all grew up with. We also became interested in a new version for 'Redefined', incorporating a heavier electronic element. The live versions for 'Blinded' and 'My Own Grave' were captured on our last European tour in Munich, which was one of the biggest and most high-energy shows to date.

For the first time ever, we’ve released an instrumental album version to showcase the musical aspect. Just like when we’re writing initial demos, the music is step one in captivating the listener’s attention so the intricacies and details of the music are a little more prevalent here.

It was a fun experience to breathe some new life back into Shaped By Fire. We’re all very proud of this album and are always encouraged by our fans’ support and enthusiasm for new AILD music over the past 20 years."

As the 21st century was born, so KREATOR underwent what was nothing less than a seismic creative rebirth. By this time, the iconic German band had released nine studio albums in the 1980s and '90s, which had established them as one of the most important metal names of these decades. In the first period, they had helped to shape and pioneer the thrash scene through such releases as Pleasure To Kill (1986), TerribleCertainty ('87), and Extreme Aggression ('89). During the following decade, the band had opened up exciting horizons of experimentation on albums like Coma Of Souls (1990), Renewal ('92), and Endorama ('99). Now, though, it was time to move into a fresh era, as vocalist/guitarist Mille Petrozza explains. “During the 1990s, we were definitely experimenting with what the band was doing. But (drummer) Ventor and I decided that for this album – our first of the new millennium – we wanted to go back to the sort of sound that we had at the start of KREATOR. In other words, to get back to the reason why we began the band in the first place.”

There were some significant changes for this album, one being the fact that the band signed to SPV/Steamhammer. There was also a new guitarist introduced, as Sami Yli-Sirniö (who had made his reputation with Finnish band WALTARI) took over from Tommy Vetterli. The latter (also known as Tommy T. Baron) had joined in 1996 and played on the Oucast (1997) and Endorama albums.

As usual, it was Petrozza who did all the writing for the album.

The producer for this album was Andy Sneap, who was now making a name for himself as one of the pre-eminent masters of this art in the modern metal world. Pre-production was done in Essen at KKS Studios, before the band went to Area 51 Studios in Celle, near Hamburg where they recorded the drum and bass (handled by Christian Giesler).

The album title came from something Petrozza had read. “In a book, I came across a comment that John F. Kennedy said (in 1962). This was: 'Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.' I thought 'Violent Revolution' would make a good title for an album. So, I kept it in my mind for this record. I think 'Violent Revolution' is a title that makes a real impact."

For the cover, KREATOR turned to Andreas Marschall, who had done such a striking job on the 1990's Coma Of Souls album sleeve.

Violent Revolution was released in September 2001, and became the band's highest-charting album to that point in Germany, as it reached number 38. “We knew we had a good album, so in that way, it wasn't a surprise to see this do so well in the chart. But however good you might think your album is, you can never be certain how people will react to what you've done, and whether you can pick up new fans, as well as satisfy the older ones. So, I suppose there was an element of us being pleasantly surprised when we got into the Top 40 for the first time. But I have to give a lot of credit to our label. They knew exactly how to market and promote the album, and showed we had made the right choice in signing to them.”

Violent Revolution is without question an excellent album. While in some ways it does hark back to the glories of the band's earlier days, nonetheless it does not sound at all nostalgic. The performances and production values are very much part of the contemporary era, and the strength of the compositions themselves are of the highest values. Rising to the challenge offered by a new generation of ambitious metal bands, KREATOR proved they were far from being a spent force. Unlike so many of their peers, here was a band who still had so much creativity to offer, and were also clearly excited themselves by what they were doing. And when you hear the band themselves enjoying the entire process, then you know this is a bona fide revitalization.

“I feel this is one of our strongest albums,” says Petrozza with conviction. “We took what we'd done on 'Coma Of Souls' and 'Extreme Aggression' but this wasn't a case of repeating it. No, we added in modern metal elements to the sound as well. It was a new era for Kreator. A rebirth if you want to put it that way. And the start of what I would call our second career.”

ENFORCER - Release New Single 'At The End Of The Rainbow'!

In March 2021, Swedish heavy metal commando ENFORCER released its second live album, “Live By Fire II”, which included a truly triumphant show captured in Mexico City, 2019. But ENFORCER has not been reveling in past glories during the last couple of months, quite the opposite! Brothers Olof and Jonas Wikstrand have been locked up in their own Hvergelmer Studio, crafting new songs, and now, following their latest heavy metal anthem, "Kiss Of Death", the band unleash their next single "At The End Of The Rainbow". The song was picked as a single based on their fans’ reactions after releasing demo snippets of several tracks they currently work on. Today one of the biggest names in modern hardcore COMEBACK KIDannounce their seventh studio album "Heavy Steps" which will be released on January 21, 2022, via Nuclear Blast worldwide (and New Damage Records in Canada). Alongside the album announcement, the influential punk rock heavyweights have unveiled the tone-setting dynamic title track and its humorously entertaining accompanying video. Says lead vocalist Andrew Neufeld of the new single “I think of our new single 'Heavy Steps' as a bold statement of a riff right off the bat and lyrically coming from an unhinged perspective about tearing through life. Instinct over reason - without even realizing how easily our worlds could implode from under our feet. A bit of a "just test me" type sentiment is being echoed in this song.”

Picking up where the comedic mini-thriller video for their riff-heavy banger “No Easy Way Out” left off (spoiler; COMEBACK KID are chased in a forest and kidnapped) the video for 'Heavy Steps' which is also directed by Kevin Keegan kicks off with a mysterious masked individual walking towards a stage carrying a couple of guitars while eerie unnerving horror-esque score plays in the background. To everyone’s surprise and for pure comic relief it becomes clear that the band has been kidnapped by an over eager father in order to play his son Skip's 10th birthday party. Heavy Steps, the follow-up to 2017’s critically acclaimed full-length Outsider, sees the hardcore veterans returning to their roots both geographically and musically. Although the members of the band are currently residing on different sides of the country in Vancouver and Toronto, the band decided to write and record their latest effort in the band’s originating city of Winnipeg, Manitoba at Private Ear Recording Studio and once again enlisted the services of producer John Paul Peters (CANCER BATS, PROPAGANDHI) who recorded the band’s debut album Turn It Around. In addition to co-production by Peters, on "Heavy Steps", COMEBACK KID collaborated with prominent Grammy award-winning mixer and long-time fan of the band Will Putney (KNOCKED LOOSE, EVERY TIME I DIE). Featuring a guest appearance by GOJIRA’s Joe Duplantier, "Heavy Steps" is no longer a prerequisite to realizing COMEBACK KID’s influence on modern punk, but a delivery of pure anthemic chaos, sheer speed, and force. It is a statement of intent.

“It’s about hitting the ground running, not knowing when or where the ground could break from underneath you.” summarizes Neufeld. “It's heavy steps on thin ice. 'Heavy Steps' on hollow ground.”

Kicking off with the pummeling title track that features punishing bass lines, masterful drumming, sludgy guitar riffs, and an infectious singalong chorus, the 11 tracks that is "Heavy Steps" embody all the things that make COMEBACK KID so revered in their genre. It’s fast, fun, beautiful crafted melodic hardcore.

In support of their forthcoming release, COMEBACK KID will be playing a number of tour dates in 2021 and 2022. The band will first head out on a 9-date East Coast Tour that will kick off on October 29th in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and make its way up the coast ending on November 7th in Boston, Massachusetts. Direct support will be A WILHELM SCREAM with opening band ONE STEP CLOSER. Then, after kicking off the year 2022 with dates in the UK and Europe, COMEBACK KID are set to play a handful of shows in Ontario with CANCER BATS and A WILHELM SCREAM in March 2022. About COMEBACK KID

Over the last twenty years, COMEBACK KID has been hailed as one of the major counterparts when it has come to shaping and pioneering both the Canadian and international modern punk and hardcore sound and scene alike.
Having formed in Winnipeg, and breaking into the mainstream with 2005’s career-defining, Wake The Dead, COMEBACK KID broke boundaries and both literally and musically stormed across new terrains, projecting the once underground genre on a globally touring scale alongside the likes of then Victory Records label mates, EARTH CRISIS, TERROR and REFUSED.

“We’re a hardcore band, but we don’t feel like we belong to any particular sect of that,” states Neufeld alongside band members, Jeremy Hiebert (guitar, Figure Four), Stu Ross (guitar, Misery Signals), Chase Brenneman (bass, Living With Lions), and Loren Legare (drums, Living With Lions). “We don’t want to be limited in any sense and prefer to work on our own terms.”

After releasing their digital EP "We Are Nøt Okay" in early 2021, rising German-Austrian nu-metal stars OCEANS unveil their brand-new digital single 'Sulfur' today via Nuclear Blast.

Following the fashion of their previous releases, "Sulfur" is both harsh and emotional, driven by heavy guitars, brutal drums, desperate screams, and eventually uplifting clean vocals. The single comes with a haunting music video, that you can watch below.

EQUILIBRIUM - Release New Old School Song "XX"

EQUILIBRIUM is taking us on a journey back to the old school: After recently unveiling a make-over of their debut album hit "Met", the German epic metallers have decided to lead us further down the path, today presenting us with a track that’s been hidden in a bedside drawer for almost 15 years. Buried in dust and old memories, band founder and guitarist René Berthiaume resurrected these fragments of an unfinished track from their early band years and completed the song, before recording it for the very first time with the current band line-up. As a perfect anniversary gift to their fans, the track is titled 'XX' in order to celebrate the band's 20-year existence.

René Berthiaume comments:
"This October turns out to be our Old School October. After our remake of 'Met', we are happy to release a theoretically brand-new track. Just theoretically, because parts of this song are based on pretty old fragments that were created during the era after our first albums. We had a lot of fun picking up those parts and finalizing that song into the version that it is now."
