Extinction A.D. 'To The Detested' | Drop Music Video For New Track "Burnt Sienna"

Extinction A.D., New York's relentless purveyors of ferocious hardcore tinged thrash metal, have released their brand new album, 'To The Detested' today via Unique Leader Records. Unwavering in its brutality and pulling no punches from a lyrical perspective. The band's fourth studio album sees the band continue to expand and evolve their sound and embrace new influences. This evolution is most apparent on today's focus track, 'Burnt Sienna', crafted in homage to frontman, Rick Jimenez' Puerto Rican heritage, incorporating elements of Bomba and hearing Rick sing in Spanish for the first time on an Extinction A.D. track. Rick's vulnerable experiences that shaped the song and the band's journey to creating the song have been captured in a mini-documentary, that will premiere on Monday, August 19th HERE.

Speaking on "Burnt Sienna", Rick Jimenez shares

"This entire song was a crazy journey from start to finish. From conception of incorporating Bomba into our typical metal style, to singing in Spanish, to diving into the "personal turmoil turned pride in exploration” of my Puerto Rican heritage and my upbringing in an unwelcoming environment, to putting together the exposition video doc of the creation of the song, to choosing this as a single. It’s a lot of personal exposition and being raw about my own individual experiences and evolution as I grow older in this world while simultaneously coming to terms with some things and discovering others."

Speaking on the release of the album today, Jimenez continues

"This album took on a life of its own very quickly and is by far the freshest one of our career. There was no second guessing or laboring over anything, it was pure unbridled energy from the first note of the first song we wrote to the final sound we recorded. We’ve never pulled any punches musically or lyrically but this is a whole new level of intensity, vitriol and honesty. It is not for the thin-skinned or the weak hearted. This record is in fact our declaration to the detested."

ABOUT EXTINCTION A.D.

Extinction A.D. is not for the faint of heart and the intensity of these New Yorkers has yet to be tempered. The bands signature level of ferocity has reached new levels on their fourth album ‘To The Detested’, which follows their EP ‘Ruthless Intent’ from earlier this year.

So many different worlds shaped this band; from writers like Alan Moore and George Orwell; lyricists like Wreak Havoc and Chuck D; to directors like Tarantino and John Carpenter. But musically, Extinction A.D. hook up a tube of early 90s era of metal into their veins. Not just bands like Pantera and Machine Head, but the often overlooked 90s offerings from Testament, Sepultura and Slayer.

Thrashing just as hard as their predecessors, the band also break their surroundings down and deliver some heavy as hell riotous mosh; hitting that all-important sweet spot mixture of 80s thrash, 90s extreme metal and New York hardcore, all encompassed into one.

Never afraid to speak their minds amidst a divisive world, Extinction A.D. bring a decisive power to match their frenetic energy. The endgame is not just rebellion but revolution.

Extinction A.D. Release New Track "Epidemic Of Mutation" And Official Video (via Unique Leader Records)

Extinction A.D. have released their latest banger "Epidemic Of Mutation" and the official video (via Unique Leader Records). Speaking on today's release, the band commented:

"We always love working in dynamics in a song and Epidemic is us taking that to the extreme. Combining the most ripping of riffs and an ultra hooky chorus while remaining so heavy is what’s really been getting us off on this record. Throwing in some real stompy things and not being afraid of the quieter parts in conjunction with that has been real exciting and expressive with this song.

Lyrically, we’re always on the frustration tip which only matches the music but in 2024 more and more people look past the lyrics element. “Shut up and play!” is more prevalent than reading into what your listening to. The whole world is like that now. The media barely has to lie to us anymore. Three people can read the same synopsis of an event and mold it however they want it to fit their narrative. Some people like to keep that under wraps for fear of alienation despite their world view being based around alienating others. Sometimes I’m so overwhelmed by this that I absorb it and throw my hands up. “What the fuck can I even do about anything? What the fuck can anyone do about anything?!” The mutation of fact becoming alterable narrative is the ultimate epidemic.

Prior to today, the band unleashed "Impervious" featuring the inimitable Matthew Kiichi Heafy of Trivium. Both tracks are taken from the band's forthcoming new full-length 'To The Detested', out on August 16. He’s been a big supporter of the band since the jump so it was rad to get together for some music after all this time.”

“Time moves on but things sometimes seem to sink further and further into a festering pit in this world. Humans are steadily losing their humanity in the current state of things, so finding a way to survive without becoming a monster yourself is becoming increasingly difficult.”

In a defiant declaration of unyielding conviction, Long Island, NY metal outfit, Extinction A.D. have unleashed their latest EP, 'Ruthless Intent', today. Known for their unapologetically confrontational style, the band has once again crafted a collection of tracks that serve as a relentless assault on the senses and a challenge to the establishment. 'Ruthless Intent' is not just music; it's a manifesto. It's a blistering, no-holds-barred expression of outrage and an unwavering stand against complacency. Extinction A.D.’s latest release epitomizes the band's commitment to fusing high-octane heavy music with a message that questions, confronts, and demands change. In their own words, the band explain

“Nothing pairs better with questioning any establishment of power than a dose of pure audio adrenaline. RUTHLESS INTENT is all about taking matters into your own hands when you know your cause is just. When you combine an idea like that with an unrelenting attack of heavy music, anything is possible,”

The band released two singles from the EP prior to today's release - "Morality Bait" - a scathing evisceration of those exploiting morality for personal gain and "Prodigal Scum" - a flawlessly brutal example of the band’s no-holds- barred combination ofExtinction A.D.’s signature ruthless riffage with deeply personal themes. Watch the previously released music video for "Prodigal Scum" HERE of by clicking the image below.

“Prodigal Scum” mirrors that intensity, combining Extinction A.D.’s signature ruthless riffage with deeply personal themes. Vocalist Rick Jimenez shares:

“I’ve never been shy about my feelings of the outside world and how the broader picture of humanity affects me, but it’s not very often that I speak about my individual little world in Extinction A.D. Prodigal Scum is a full on personal life experience and something that was empowering to put on tape and also into the video."

The ‘Ruthless Intent’ EP promises four tracks of Extinction.A.D.’s signature metallic hardcore punk rock fury. Featuring previously released single, "Morality Bait" - a scathing evisceration of those exploiting morality for personal gain - along with today's release of "Prodigal Scum" and two further tracks - "Under The Hood" and "Living To Desecrate".

“Prodigal Scum” mirrors that intensity, combining Extinction A.D.’s signature ruthless riffage with deeply personal themes. Vocalist Rick Jimenez shares:

Vocalist Rick Jimenez elaborates:

"Exploitation of moral causes is nothing new but it has never been more prevalent and transparent as it's been recently. No surprise that people talk out of both sides of their mouth when there is profit to be made though. "Morality Bait" is a powerhouse song that takes the frustration with false allies and rallies for their destruction with the weightiest Extinction A.D. riffs yet."

"Morality Bait" is just the beginning of the next chapter of Extinction A.D. Keep it locked for big news coming soon.

EXTINCTION A.D. RELEASE A SURPRISE EP OF COVERS EXCLUSIVELY ON BANDCAMP

Image 11-1-20 at 10.07 AM.JPG

COVERED ARTISTS INCLUDE, DRI AND THE DEAD KENNEDYS

Long Island Thrash masters Extinction AD have released a fist full of covers today exclusively on Bandcamp. The tracks are all covers of American Hardcore bands from the 1980s including DRI and The Dead Kennedys.

"Early 80's American hardcore is one of, if not my favorite era of music," says vocalist and guitarist Rick Jimenez. "I've always wanted to pay homage to it. Doing it through the lens of Extinction A.D. was not just a lot of fun, but put focus on how much things haven't changed since the Reagan era of the united states."

This is the first bit of music we're hearing from the band since the release of Decimation Treaty in 2018. The sophomore full length was recorded and mixed by Joe Cincotta (Suffocation, Obituary) and mastered by Brad Boatright (Iron Reagan, Converge, Obituary). It featured tracks such as “Secret Worlds,” "Age of Revenge," and "In The Wake of Uprising." Decimation Treaty was received well by critics as well. Metal Injection raved that "each song is consistently engaging, evolving and introducing something different as the record flies forward. It's a wild record that guarantees you'll be tossing yourself into a pit." Dead Rhetoric gets straight to the point proclaiming that Decimation Treaty is "all about the riffs."
