Highlighting today's announcement is the release of single "Def Cons" and accompanying music video, the fourth installment of the short film written by Fat Mike and serialized across five music video releases.

Codefendants also announced their first ever US headline tour dates today. The 'This Is Crime Wave Tour' will kick-off in San Francisco on April 14th and hit 10 further cities before culminating in Atlanta, GA on April 27th and will feature special guests, Zeta as support. Codefendants will also play two shows with NOFX in Austin, TX on April 22nd and Tacoma, WA on July 23rd and will appear at Lost Festival in St Petersburg, FL on April 29th. ABOUT CODEFENDANTS

Sam King from Get Dead’s graffiti crew were giving tattoos and making flash art to raise money to help rapper Ceschi Ramos when he was incarcerated. Months later, they met at the Gilman Street Project in Berkeley, California. They bonded, talking about their love of hip-hop and punk rock over a bottle of Jameson. They didn’t know it yet, but they had just started Codefendants.

They began recording songs two years later in Los Angeles with Fat Mike from NOFX as producer. Soon after Fatty joined the band, they decided to make an album that sounded like nothing else - a completely genre-fluid album - a cross between hip hop, new-wave, flamenco, and the Beatles. And thus a whole new genre - Crime Wave - was born. That album entitled This Is Crime Wave will be released via Fat Wreck imprint, Bottles To The Ground.

Rising country songstress and cowgirl Jenna Paulette embarked on a soul-searching journey after losing herself over the course of a 10 year-long relationship. The destination: returning to who she is at her core. Announcing her debut album, The Girl I Was, due March 31, 2023, Paulette documents her journey of self-discovery, re-emerging stronger and more confident than ever before. The concept for the album, produced by Will Bundy with impressive writer credits including Rhett Akins, Jessie Jo Dillon and Ashley McBryde, surfaced while Paulette was attending a writers’ retreat. She was driving alone, content with her blue heeler as her passenger, enjoying the sunset in the distance, when an image of her 8 year-old self came to mind. She reminisced on the simplicities of life then – a freckle-faced child helping her grandfather on the ranch – dirty, full of purpose and well-loved. She was determined to get back to her, back to the girl she was.
 
When the writing process began, it became clear that the idea was bigger than a single song. Paulette reflects, “I thought, if we don't write another song this weekend everything will be right if we get that song right and we did...and that song made sense of a whole record for me. For the first time I felt like I was writing things that were honest enough to represent where I came from and where I am headed. I cannot wait for y'all to hear this record.”

Formed in Portland, Oregon, in 2020, HOAXED's initial songwriting plan casts a wide net.

The breach opened up considerably as Coffel and Keo explored the outer edges of their musical influences and artistic aspirations. After fruitful songwriting sessions, the twosome self-released their eponymous four- song EP in February 2021.

Earlier this summer, Pillbox Patti introduced her unique perspective and tell-it-like-it-is storytelling to the world with “Good People,” “Young and Stupid,” “Suwannee” and “Eat, Pray, Drugs.”

Each track a reflection of first-hand personal experiences growing up in Florida: often alone, poor and looking for more to do than just eat, pray or do drugs in her small town.

Now, Pillbox Patti releases a full project of songs, her debut on Monument Records, that represents who she is to the core. A project that speaks not to the idyllic country up-bringing often displayed in the genre, but to the true experiences of so many Americans, living day to day and trying to get by with the help of their friends, their dreams and maybe a few illicit substances. “It’s not Mayberry,” says Pillbox Patti, “but it’s real.”

An award-winning and celebrated songwriter on Music Row, Nicolette Hayford, otherwise known as Pillbox Patti, has been in Nashville for over a decade, writing other people’s stories and penning hits like “One Night Standards” and “Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega” for Ashley McBryde. Hayford has landed additional song credits on tracks for artists including Lainey Wilson, William Michael Morgan and Chrissy Metz. In 2021 she was named MusicRow’s Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year and was nominated for both ACM and CMA Song Of The Year for the aforementioned “One Night Standards.”

The success put more money in Hayford’s pocket than she had ever seen, after a childhood in and out of poverty and years of the grind in music city, but the pressure to share a version of country she didn’t feel was her own took a toll on the songstress. “I felt like I was disappearing,” says Hayford. “I was sort of getting type casted as a songwriter and only getting to show one side of who I am, musically. I realized that I needed to tell my own truths, or I was going to lose myself in this town.”

So, telling her truth is what she set out to do. Creating the moniker Pillbox Patti to draw a clear distinction between Nicolette Hayford the songwriter and Pillbox Patti the artist, she gathered her best friends – Connie Harrington, Benjy Davis, Aaron Ratiere, Park Chisolm and Ashley McBryde – a bunch of tequila, a few of the aforementioned illicit substances and the money she made from her songwriting cuts, and headed out to Harrington’s Lake House to write her own record. “I wasn’t on anybody’s dime but my own,” says Hayford. “So no one was telling me how, or where, or what kinds of songs I could cut or get away with. It was about me and for me with no other agenda. I had never given myself that freedom or permission before.”

That freedom allowed Hayford to write a record that is part fun, part joy, part pain, part loss and 100% honest. One that speaks to the people who don’t often get spoken to and are often forgotten in country music. “I hope it makes people want to celebrate the bullshit they’ve been through,” shares Hayford.

Standout track “Valentine’s Day” is about an abortion Hayford had in high school. “Suwannee” revels the life she came from in Florida. “Hookin Up” holds nothing back about the female experience and the double standards that are often attached and “Good People” argues that even if you have a few bad habits, it doesn’t make you bad.

All in all, Hayford says “I hope Florida sheds a light on the badass, cool ass, good ass people on the other side of these small towns. The kind of people I know and came up with that aren’t livin’ in a paint by number country song.”

Manchester art-rock quartet Weimar have released their debut album 'Dancing On a Volcano' on CD via German Shepherd Records and digitally via Marlene's Hat Records. These 12 tracks take the listener on an unpredictable excursion through the socio-political and personal challenges of our modern age.

Themes include gentrification and cultural erosion, unsavoury characters masquerading as respectable public figures, the grit beneath the glamour, the contrast between polished façades and the decadence within. Through a maelstrom of musical styles and influences, this album paints a brutal and honest picture of human nature and culture in the 2020s.

With recording delayed by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, the groundwork for the album was finally completed in the summer, the band returning to the studio in 2021 to assist with the mixing process. After three years of hard labour and lockdown-related setback, Weimar are finally ready to release their long-awaited album.

The first taste of the album was 'Soho Rain' featuring Leeds-based artist Finola, which is dedicated to the old Soho district of London (the city's seediest square mile), its dying culture and the many artistic and cultural movements that emerged there. Earlier this year, the band also released the 2-track single 'The Girls of LA' with New Order-esque B-side 'Transatlantic Confusion'.

Weimar (pronounced Vy-marr) is a four-piece made up of vocalist/ guitarist / songwriter Aidan Cross (The Bacillus, Black Light Mutants), bassist John Armstrong (The Speed Of Sound), drummer Anthony ‘Eddy’ Edwards (The Deceased) and guitarist Stephen Sarsen (Frank Is Dead, Playground).

Since forming in 2016 and hitting the live circuit, Louder Than War named Weimar amongst its 50 Bands To Watch for 2019, the year they debuted the single 'John Doe / Curse the Songs', followed by 'Marvel To The State / Undesirable Master'. In early 2020, famed former drummer for Fates Warning and Warlord, Mark Zonder, began working on new material with the vision of beginning a new, full-time band that would offer something different from his current catalog. The mission was to deliver straightforward, no-frills hard rock that speaks to a broader audience. The end result, which sees Zonder reunite with Fates Warning lead vocalist Ray Alder, along with bassist Philip Bynoe (Steve Vai, Warlord), guitarist Joop Wolters, and keyboardist Vivien Lalu, is A-Z! I wanted to have a very accessible band that would appeal to the masses and would lead to the ability to tour larger venues and build a second and third record off the success of the first. I did not want to hear things like, ‘I don’t hear a single, it is too proggy, I just don’t get it, let me listen to it a few more times’. I knew from myself and the others that I would recruit, it would have some sophisticated music parts but the big hook was the main priority.” The result was A-Z, and while Zonder is adamant it is not a supergroup that is doing a ‘one and done’ record it has a stellar lineup, reuniting him with Fates Warning vocalist Ray Alder, Warlord/Steve Vai/Ring of Fire bassist Philip Bynoe, guitarist Joop Wolters and keyboardist Vivien Lalu, the combination of these players stirring up a very specific kind of magic that could not be replicated.

Things came together smoothly from the start, Zonder sending drum patterns and grooves to first recruit Lalu, and he would write songs using guitar sounds so between the two of them they had basic song structures pretty quickly. Zonder knew Bynoe would jump on board as they have a long history and mutual respect and Lalu had worked with Wolters for years, recruiting him for the band. Both Wolters and Lalu brought in great musical ideas that were turned into songs. The goal was always the same: shorter songs and getting right to the chorus, no twelve-minute songs, and everyone found it easy working to this remit. With everything else coming together nicely, finding the right singer was the hardest aspect of the whole process.

“I had sent out a basic song to over 20 different singers, some popular named singers and some unknown, but completely struck out,” says Zonder. “Then I just decided to call Ray as I was not sure what he was up to. I figured it could not hurt to get in touch. I do remember speaking with him back in the day and him talking about how he loved this kind of music. I sent him a track or two and he just killed it.” Adds Alder, “I found this a chance to do something completely different than what I am used to, being in a prog metal band for 30 years. I find the blend of the 80s, 90s and a touch of 70s style of music very cool, and it is great to work with Mark after all of these years.” Thrilled to have him on board, Zonder did not have a list of demands. “My only words to him were ‘do whatever you want.’ I was not going to tell him what to do. Same for all of the others guys. Yes, there has to be some editing and making decisions, but when it came to the music I just wanted everyone to do what they do best.” The results are undeniable, from the high octane stomper “The Machine Gunner”, to the gorgeous sway of “Rise Again” or the towering “Stranded”, every track an anthem that sounds like only the biggest venues could contain them.

The band’s name came courtesy of Alder - A-Z = Alder thru Zonder - and it fit straight away. “What I liked is that it did not limit what someone would think of the band. If we named the band Scary Serpent it would give a certain direction and I did not want people to prejudge the band and record,” Zonder says. Likewise, self-titling the record made sense. “I did not want to give a direction idea to the audience. If we named the album Far Side of the Horizon, people would probably think ‘prog band’. But if you named it The Machine Gunner, it would give a totally different direction for thought.” For artwork, wanting to again get the best possible contributor, they turned to the famed Hugh Syme (Rush, Fates Warning), who delivered the vivid image of a zebra eating an apple, encompassing the band name in a sly way. “Again, hire the best people you can find and just let them do what they do. The artwork is absolutely fantastic and really fits the whole concept. He is truly the best. Just a great guy to work with.”

THE HALO EFFECT Announces Details Of Debut Album, "Days Of The Lost"

THE HALO EFFECT is the biggest surprise in the metal scene in a long time. After making a big impression with their debut single “Shadowminds” and the follow up single “Feel What I Believe,” the band now announces their debut album for August 12th and kicks off the pre-save phase with a third single and video for the album title track “Days Of The Lost”.

The band featuring guitar heroes & songwriting wizards Jesper Strömblad and Niclas Engelin (ex- IN FLAMES), singer Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILITY), as well as former IN FLAMES members Peter Iwers and Daniel Svensson, presenting another masterclass in Swedish melodic death metal!

Frontman Mikael Stanne explains about the song: “Days Of The Lost” is about finding your place in life, about making that outcast experience into something that propels you forward. We all met in our mid teens and we were all trying to find direction, motivation and meaning. Thankfully we found it in creativity and music and we shared this passion and made something from it that remains an essential part of who we are as individuals and as parts of a whole. So this is us reflecting on our past, while watching a new generation slowly but surely find their path. It's about standing up, being your true self and about not letting anything stand in your way. Our choices and our paths have led to all kinds of things but we wouldn't change a thing.”

The video was shot on a cold day in January at a rooftop at a location in Gothenburg called “Ringön,” that used to be all industrial but nowadays turning into a cool place with all its breweries, clubs, venues and all creative sorts of activities. It is directed by Theo Gabay along with his sidekick Morgan Jensen, who are more known in Sweden for their movie and tv work.

Born from an idea dreamed up by Serafino Perugino, Frontiers’ President & Head of A&R, Venus 5 is primed to be one of the most fresh and exciting new musical prospects to emerge from the European rock and metal scene in recent years. Assembling the vocalists and musicians required a tremendous amount of time and energy as the right talent had to be in place to work together cohesively and with true chemistry. After all, this many lead singers in one band is a daunting task, but the end result is that five outstanding vocal stars in the making were brought together from different musical environments with the vision of creating a monster album.

Of course, many people will see five women and instantly make references to this being a "metal version" of pop projects, but please make no mistake, the vocal talents of the singers and the music is front and center. London-based indie rocker Simon Bromide (aka Simon Berridge) presents his debut solo album 'Following The Moon' and the lively feel-good ode-to-the-pub video for 'The Skehans Song', shot by Lou Smith and edited by Ben Pollard. Recorded by Brian O'Shaughnessy (Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine, Beth Orton), this long-player is released via Scratchy Records with distribution by Cargo Records.

Best known as the frontman of South London indie pop / power pop outfit Bromide, 'Following The Moon' is Simon's first album as a solo artist. Earlier, he released the lead single 'The Waiting Room', along with an animated video cleverly also created by Ben Pollard.

Paying homage to one of South East London’s longest running acoustic nights - The Easycome - a unique fixture in the South-London music scene, this song features the ‘Easycome Choir’ with Andy Hankdog, Scarlett Woolfe and Vincent Davies.

‘The Easycome’ is run by Andy Hankdog (a.k.a. Hank), whose life has been steeped in rock ‘n’ roll, starting with his father producing the 60s TV music show 'Ready Steady Go!'. After the Sex Pistols disbanded, Hank joined Steve Jonesand Paul Cook to form The Professionals, later finding success with his band Hank Dogs in the late 90s and touring America with Joan Baez. Creating a space where music can flourish, his club has hosted the likes of David Gray, Florence (Welch) Machine, Shingai (Noisettes), The Smoke Faeries, Lewis Floyd Henry, The Fat White Family and other local scenesters such as Goat Girl, Pre-Goblin, Megalash and Misty Miller.

"In the 1990s, I used to frequent the Troubadour in Earls Court. This was my introduction to the curious sport of ‘open mic-ing’. Not exactly a contact sport, but not far-off. The inevitable dread of waiting to play, the terrible acts, the amazing acts, the tap on the shoulder ‘I’m sorry, we can’t squeeze you on tonight’, the tea lights, egos and hushed silence watching pins drop and/or your life slip away and then occasionally a room full of wild unexpected applause. I remember seeing Hankdog at these nights, who always mentioned ‘The Easycome’ but it was over the other side of town in Nunhead and I never ventured over. Then time took me over to SE London and finally about 5 or 6 years ago I started going down regularly on Wednesdays," says Simon Berridge.

"The idea for the song just appeared at the club one day when I started singing about some of the regulars.. then the chords arrived and it felt like a fun idea to write a kind of list song about these characters that went down to watch and take part. Similarly when we came to record it we tried to capture the atmosphere of a sometimes noisy pub with this thing going on in the corner."

The album also features drummer Fells Guilherme (Children of The Pope), bassist Ed ‘Cosmo’ Wright, multi-instrumentalists Dave Hale, Dimitri Ntontis and Stephen Elwell, folk-pop chanteuse Katy Carr on piano and Terry Edwards (Nick Cave, Tom Waits, P.J.Harvey) on trumpet. Scottish singer Julie Anne McCambridge joins Simon on the William Blake penned 'Earth's Answer'.

This is Berridge's first output since Bromide's 'Ancient Rome' and 'I'll Never Learn' singles, both released in 2020. Their most recent album 'I Woke Up', with singles 'Magic Coins' and 'Two Song Slot', was met with popular acclaim, receiving positive reviews and airplay in dozens of countries. Since founding Bromide in 1996, the band has released six albums via London-based Scratchy Records.

As of December 10, the 'Following The Moon' album will be released, available digitally at https://smarturl.it/followingthemoonalb and on vinyl via Cargo Records. Las Vegas act Velvet Chains launches debut album Icarus

Las Vegas group leads a new generation of American hard rock

The band Velvet Chains, which has been gaining international highlight and had excellent repercussion in South America and Mexico, launches its debut album entitled “Icarus”. The work has 10 songs, including the singles “Tattooed” and “Strangelove”, and is now available on all streaming platforms.

The first single “Tattooed” was highlighted in the media by the special guest appearance of Guns N’ Roses guitarist Richard Fortus. The song received an impressing music video, directed by the experienced Dean Karr, who worked with music giants such as Ozzy Osbourne, Velvet Revolver and Iron Maiden. The second single, “Strangelove”, kept the audience's attention, and both tracks got more than 150,000 streams in just a few days.

The album also features guest appearances by Jeff Rouse (bass) and Mike Squires (guitar), both from Duff McKagan's LOADED, on the catchy “Pass the Disease” which also have a beautiful lyric video.

“Icarus” is an intimate and emotional album, written in partnership with multi-platinum composer Drew Lawrence. Recording took place in Las Vegas and Seattle, sound engineering work was carried out by Greg Williamson, while Tristan Hardin did the mixing and mastering.

From Las Vegas to the World

The band Velvet Chains was formed in the American city of Las Vegas in 2018, and “Icarus” is their first album.

The group's musical proposal placed them as one of the highlights of the new generation of American hard rock, by uniting breathtaking tempos, a solid rhythmic section and catchy melodies, the kind that stick in your head.

Guided by what was best done in the grunge and hard rock of the 90s and 00s, Velvet Chains has as reference groups such as Guns N 'Roses, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam, among many others from different styles, whose elements are condensed to create a unique and characteristic sound of the style that changed the way young people listen to rock music.

The lyrical content along with the musical quality is another important factor for Velvet Chains: "Our goal was to write songs with important lyrics while covering different genres within Rock from the 90s to the 00s. You will find a bit of heavy rock, a bit of grunge, a bit of alternative rock, and much more on this album”, explains Nils, founder of the band.

Dutch Black Metal Duo DOODSWENS Announce Debut Album 'Lichtvrees' - Out December 3rd on Svart Records

Doodswens Black Metal is a bleak, distorted wave of negative energy according to the tenets set by the Scandinavian originators but with their own new organic reflection of darkness. Their name translating to the term “Death Wish,” Doodswens breathe new life into the dust of the past, inspired by the rawness of the ‘90s and capturing the black hearts of a new throng of acolytes as they ignite the gloom.

Founded in Eindhoven in 2017 by Fraukje van Burg (vocals and guitar) and Inge van der Zon (drums), Doodswens initially erupted into the underground scene in 2019 with their demo, which sent a shiver through its decaying corpse. The word Doodswens translates as ‘death wish’. Wishing for one’s death is a taboo, deeply embedded in modern society. A society that shuns the dark, the negative, the depressed, in favor of meaningless and flawed perceptions of happiness and perfection. An unreality, where our inner darkness boils beneath the veneer of our daily lives. That darkness takes shape in Doodswens.

Doodswens goes against the grain, opening up the cesspit of the human condition, giving voice to our bleakest emotions through old-school black metal. Against a society that

obscures pain, against the light, proudly expressing feelings of inner negativity and depression. Erecting a wall of sound, playing bleak, distorted music, according to the classic tenets set by the Scandinavian originators, that drowns out everything else in a singular expression.

Founded in 2017 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, they landed in the scene in 2019 with their demo, which sent a shiver through its decaying corpse. Recently, the band signed to

the underground stalwarts Svart Records from Finland for the release of their debut album: ‘Lichtvrees’ (translation: fear of light).

Perhaps best known as the frontman of South London indie pop / power pop outfit Bromide, Simon Bromide (aka Simon Berridge) has announced he will be releasing a solo album 'Following The Moon' in late autumn via Scratchy Recordswith distribution by Cargo Records. Ahead of this, he presents the lead track 'The Waiting Room'.

"The song is about the things that didn’t happen for one reason or another,” says Simon Berridge, “Simple twists of fate or just stepping back from the edge.. in particular the lyrics refer to a letter proposing marriage sent to my mother many years ago. The letter never arrived and the sender presumed the lack of a reply was his answer. Things were different back then.. as it says in the song 'The Postal Service Saved My Life’".

This is essentially a solo album - with a lot of help. It was recorded at Bark Studios in Walthamstow by Brian O’Shaughnessy (Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine, Beth Orton), who had worked with Berridge on the last two Bromide albums. The album features drummer Fells Guilherme (Children of The Pope), bassist Ed ‘Cosmo’ Wright, multi-instrumentalists Dave Hale, Dimitri Ntontis and Stephen Elwell, as well as folk-pop chanteuse Katy Carr on piano and Terry Edwards (Nick Cave, Tom Waits, P.J.Harvey) on trumpet. Scottish singer Julie Anne McCambridge joins Simon on the closing track, the William Blake penned 'Earth's Answer'.

This is Berridge's first output since Bromide's 'Ancient Rome' and 'I'll Never Learn' singles, both released in 2020. Their most recent album 'I Woke Up', with singles 'Magic Coins' and 'Two Song Slot', was met with popular acclaim, receiving positive reviews and airplay in dozens of countries.

Influenced equally by The Beatles, Neil Young, Mark Eitzel and Bob Mould, Simon Berridge creates ultra-catchy, jangly acoustic pop / electric rock. All songs are rooted in the acoustic guitar and then fleshed out with bass, drums, electric guitar and whatever seemed to fit the songs - hammond organ, piano, mellotron and brass.

Writing songs since he was 16, Simon Berridge has gone through many band line-ups in his decades-long music career with moods shifting a few times - from acoustic Neil Young-ish stuff to more full on Husker Du-style noise pop and back again. Since founding Bromide in 1996, the band has released six albums via London-based Scratchy Records.

"This album was born out of frequenting open mics and in particular the longest running wednesday night acoustic club in South-East London called ‘The Easycome’ - and it’s Monday night sing-a-round off-shoot at the Old Dispensary in Camberwell. Both run by the notorious ‘Andy Hankdog’, the club has seen many pass through its doors – David Gray, Florence (Welch) Machine, Shingai from the Noisettes and more recently The Fat White Family and a host of luminaries from the burgeoning ‘South-East London scene’ – Goat Girl, Pre-Goblin, Misty Miller," says Simon Berridge.

"Playing at these nights has taught me a lot about playing at these nights! It’s introduced me to some fine musicians – a lot of whom ended up on the record – and it’s given me some of the most memorable nights of my life."

"'Life Kills' was written during one of the worst years in recent human history, 2020. A year of suffering and loss for many people around the world, it inspired us to view life as the gift it is....something you should truly enjoy and live to the fullest, even if it means you have to remind yourself that someday it ends to be able to push yourself forward. The song needed an insanely driven guitar riff to make such a statement work and I think we got it, together with Alex's [Falk] brilliantly inspiring take on the vocals," says drummer Freddie Allen of the new single.

Fans Of The Dark is an exciting new band formed in the summer of 2020 by Freddie Allen, drummer and main songwriter, and lead vocalist Alex Falk. The pair went to high school together in Stockholm and after a few years reconnected recently with a vision to create a band which would mix the melodies and approach of classic and melodic rock with elements of the great metal music of the '80s. The final result is one of the most exciting things you'll hear emerging from the fruitful melodic rock in Sweden, showcasing a tight, inventive musical approach with outstanding vocals.

"I had written an album basically on my own during the pandemic," continues Freddie. ”But I had Alex in mind all the time and I knew that he wanted to do this. His voice is just an absolute monster and I thought it would be interesting to hear that voice singing on top of some really great songs driven by guitars, bass, and drums. That was the start of it."

The last two pieces of the puzzle to complete the band’s lineup were Robert Majd (Captain Black Beard, Metalite, Nighthawk) who came in on bass and Oscar Bromvall (Palace, Code Red) on guitar. Mixing and mastering was handled by Mike Palace (Palace, Kent Hilli).

"Now, all we want to do is record more albums and in the future play these songs in front of a live audience and really put on a show," says Freddie. "I have confidence in the material, and in our abilities as songwriters and performers. 2020 was the worst year in recent human history, 2021 has already been a lot more hopeful, and I know that 2022 is going to be even better. So, bring it on!”

Finally the task of who can sing this & write the words & a hook was up. Andrew immediately came to my mind because I love the Last In Line albums. Andrew’s power and melodies are spine tingling to say the least. His ability to compose lyrics is amazing & his tone is so classic. The hook he wrote was killer, & it made me want to hear it over and over again. MISANTHUR Announces Debut Album, Releases First Single

The two prophets collected under the banner of MISANTHUR herald the fall and spiritual putridity of humanity by creating art resonating fully with pain, anxiety and degradation. Founded in Częstochowa, Poland in one night in 2015 by Hellscythe and Draugr, MISANTHUR begun to take form.

Inspired by metal and non-metal genres, MISANTHUR merge trance percussion, earthbreaking bass, crushing guitars and hellish vocals with (post)apocalyptic ambient landscapes and noise to create its own oeuvre and paint the stories and scenery of mundane spiritual wasteland.

VELVETS Announce Self Titled Debut Album

Helsinki rock duo VELVETS are set to release their debut, self-titled album on The Sign Records in Autumn 2021. 'Velvets' offers a fresh take on classic-sounding rock. Smooth guitar licks and sweet vocal melodies add up to colorful soundscapes that are as hip-shakingly catchy as they are beautiful and dreamlike. The new album is packed with honest and tender rock n roll, performed with heart, soul, and ambiance.

'Velvets' contains 8 tracks ranging from swift boogie-riffin’ and synth-infused foot tappers to softer, love-themed ballads. The album was recorded and mixed by Sakke Vänttinen at his cottage in Hamina and at the Velvets rehearsal place in Helsinki. Mastering was done by Matias Ahonen at Audiamond.

VELVETS Bio:

VELVETS are an endless summer night dipped in a bucket of rock, blues, schlager and funk with a cool breeze coming at you from the south. All set in a timeless space, where the past, present, and future are fused into one. The songs will take you on a journey of love and longing, speeding on the highway and taking off to a place beyond the stars.

 Velvets was born in January 2021, when the duo Sami and Sakke were desperately in need of creating new music. With too much time on their hands after finishing the second Rokets album, the Finnish band where the two first met each other as members. The first idea for Velvets was to write love songs and stick to them, kicking things off by listening to a lot of Moon Martin. 

 The duo has previously toured Finland and the Baltic countries extensively with Rokets since August 2017, well known in Finland for their sweaty, energetic live shows. The band opened for Kaleidobolt in Helsinki for their album release party of their latest album "Bitter" and were the closing act of the first day of the Finnish festival Kill Sörnäinen in Helsinki. With two EP's titled "Rokets" and "Speed & Sound" and the debut album "Fast Times", released on digital and vinyl format in 2020/2021 under the belt the duo decided that it was time for a project of their own - Velvets. Besides Velvets and Rokets, Sakke has played in the hardcore band Locked Up and the country band Rusty Triggers. Sami shares the hardcore background, starting his musical career as the singer of heavy metal band United Seafood.

 The band sounds like a session where Moon Martin, Hurriganes, ZZ Top, Thin Lizzy, and The Allman Brothers started experimenting on a new kind of sound that brought all the pieces together from the different styles of the sweet, sweet music we call rock n roll. This is not your average rough and tough, rowdy and raunchy boy band, with the testosterone levels going through the roof. This is Velvets; beautiful, meaningful songs with melodies born of warm memories and moments we’ve shared with someone we hold dear.
