DEATH ANGEL RELEASE NEW SINGLE, 'WRATH (BRING FIRE),' AHEAD OF EUROPEAN SUMMER TOUR

Thrash legends DEATH ANGEL are back with their first new music in 6 years! In anticipation for their upcoming summer Summer of Wrath European Tour, the band has released a brand new song called ‘Wrath (Bring Fire).’ The blistering new track and visualizer (created by Tamara Lienas of Aimed & Framed) are streaming now on all digital services!

Commenting on the new track vocalist Mark Osegueda says:

“‘Wrath(Bring Fire)’ is the first Death Angel song featuring the whole band to be released since our 2019 Grammy nominated album Humanicide. This song was however written during the pandemic.

I wrote the lyrics and melody to this song in January of 2021. During that time I was, as all of us were, stuck at home lost, angry and very confused. I was also watching way more television than I usually had. One genre being medieval/fantasy shows which were kind of new to me as an adult. Yet! Were very popular during that time. Which makes sense in retrospect. We all needed some new forms of escapism from the worldwide Hell that we were all going through..That being said..It was partially what inspired these lyrics. An ancient/medieval fantasy end of the world war meets my actual approach in disputes..That can unfortunately, for all involved, turn very ugly if I’m pushed to a certain level or place  when I feel I’m being wronged!

And.. As always for me.. Pen doesn’t hit the paper until I hear the music and that paints a picture and inspires a vision that ends up being my lyrics. And the music Rob wrote for this and the fantasy/medieval based shows I was watching at that time and the personal hell that I was going through, figuring out who the hell I was during that awful time in our collective history and marrying that with my true personal aggressions and fury that I still fight with to this very day when I feel I’ve been wronged inspired this song! And it does still happen to me and I’m sure all of us. It definitely still happens to me to this very day! Sometimes it still does by those that are supposed to be closest to me that think they must be more clever than me.
When in actuality…They are just deceitful and so easily read.

Well..For those of you who can relate to this subject. Which I assume is most of us! This song is for you! Because if you are foolish enough to try to take advantage of me once or continually..To quote Al Capone: ’Don't mistake my kindness for weakness. I am kind to everyone, but when someone is unkind to me, weakness is not what you are going to remember about me.’

That being said..When I come I’ll bring FIRE!!

* SEPULTURA Closing

The time has come! Shadows loom over North America with an ominous silence hanging in the air as heaven and hell alike prepare to witness: “Klash Of The Titans.” German thrash legends KREATOR have joined forces with Brazilian metal giants SEPULTURA for an unrivaled North American co-headline tour in May and June of 2023.

Since the mid-80s, the two bands have shaped heavy music like few others by always sticking to their ferocious guns. At the same time, they’ve never shied away from re-inventing themselves: going from strength to strength and leaving a path of scorched earth in their trailblazing wakes. With new albums Hate Über Alles and Quadra towering strong at the peak of their respective discographies, these Titans are truly standing taller than ever in 2023.

KREATOR’s Mille Petrozza states, ‘I’m really happy to be back in the US this May with the mightiest of all…SEPULTURA. A new ‘Klash Of The Titans’ partnership and an absolutely stacked bill from start to finish. I’m looking forward to checking out SPIRITWORLD live – a great new band with big riffs. Plus sharing the stage with the legendary DEATH ANGEL. Awesome! Can’t wait…see you in the pit!’

SEPULTURA’s Andreas Kisser adds: “I’m very excited to be back in North America with our friends and my personal idols Kreator! They were a very strong influence in our early days, and it’s great to see they are stronger than ever, which is how I feel with SEPULTURA as well. It's going to be a historical run. Thrilled to have our brothers from DEATH ANGEL and the awesome SPIRITWORLD with us. Do not miss this, metal is alive and well, so let’s celebrate ‘Klash of the Titans North America 2023’ on the road! See you all soon!“

DEATH ANGEL'S NEW RECORD "THE BASTARD TRACKS" IS OUT TODAY!

Bay Area thrash legends DEATH ANGEL have released their heavily anticipated new live record titled "The Bastard Tracks" today with Nuclear Blast. Recorded live at The Great American Music Hall in their hometown of San Francisco on May 22nd, 2021, and streamed live soon after, "The Bastard Tracks" is a deep cuts collection of rarely and never performed songs from the band's celebrated catalog that's available now digitally and on CD and Blu-Ray and will be released on vinyl on April 29th.

In conjunction with the release the band has rolled out the live video for "The Absence of Light," which can be viewed below.

Commenting on the song, vocalist Mark Osegueda states:

“'Absence of Light' is a song that I have been championing for since the album that it is on called 'Relentless Retribution' was released in 2010. It’s an extremely dark song lyrically that sits on top of this thunderous and driving riff and beat. It is not a fast song by any means. But! It’s HEAVY!! DARK and HEAVY!!!

We finally took the time to re-familiarize ourselves with it and we were all surprised how HEAVY it sounded when we all played it together in the room! I’m pretty confident it will rear its DARK and HEAVY head in some future live sets. In front of an actual audience!”

Purchase "The Bastard Tracks" here: https://bfan.link/DeathAngelTBT

Commenting on the record, Osegueda says:

"When we performed and filmed the songs for 'The Bastard Tracks' it was such a crazy time and having missed being able to perform live for so long was taking it’s toll on me to a certain degree as I have been a live performer for the majority of my life..

I must say...It was a pretty dark time. I know it was for so many of us...But! Music once again helped to pull us through it...It was a bit odd performing to no crowd...But! It felt great re-learning some deep tracks and getting on stage with the guys and unleashing this pent up aggression! And the response from everyone who tuned into it suggesting that we release it as an album was overwhelming! Well…Thanks to them here it is! I hope you enjoy it!”

Adding to that, guitarist Rob Cavestany says:

"Choosing and sequencing the songs for 'The Bastard Tracks' set list was quite a different trip. All of them had rarely (and in some instances never) been played live. We hadn’t performed in front of a live audience for over a year, the longest ever for this band. It was to be filmed live at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco and then broadcast worldwide on the good ol’ inter-web! I could get into that…

From basically re-learning most of these songs to getting them as tight as they should be, we put our energy together and made it happen! I’m thankful for having had this goal to focus on during those (still) crazy earth crisis days. It gave us an important reason to get together at DA Studio and JAM! Literally the only time I’ve felt “normal” since 2020 was while we were jamming! Fortunately we’ve been able to do it a lot. Now, we proudly present the audio and visual recordings of those sessions. Turn it up!

P.S. - We cannot wait to exchange live energy with you as soon as possible!!"

Bay Strikes Back Tour Featuring Testament, Exodus and Death Angel Postponed Until 2022

mail-171.jpeg

The North American leg of the Bay Strikes Back tour featuring TESTAMENT, EXODUS, and DEATH ANGEL has been postponed until 2022.

We were really on the fence with this decision,” says TESTAMENT guitarist Eric Peterson. “But seeing other bands make it through with a few mild cases and other bigger bands just canceling their entire tours, we felt it is in our best interest to postpone these shows to '22.”

Adds fellow guitarist Alex Skolnick, “It gives none of us any pleasure to be the bearers of bad news yet again, but here we are. Although Bay Strikes Back is a top tour package for theaters, the reality is this: It can’t afford to take the risks that top-grossing larger venue tours have been taking. The type of disruptions Kiss and other large outdoor venue tours have experienced could cause our shows to be permanently canceled - a lose/lose for everyone. The fact that a lower-budget tour such as ours is limited to indoor venues with tight backstage space only adds to the risk. It should go without saying that calling off these dates was a ‘last resort’ decision, and everyone involved would much rather this weren’t the case. However, this is the new reality we’re all in. All we can do is hope for everyone’s understanding, which we ask for sincerely.”

The trio of bands will perform as scheduled at Sacramento’s Aftershock Festival on Thursday, October 7, as well as the hometown show scheduled for November 27 at Fox Oakland.

We are saddened to announce that the Bay Strikes Back tour is being postponed, but the risk of canceled shows due to positive tests leading to tour personnel being quarantined and isolated is just too great at this time,” says EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt. “We want to feel safe, enjoy the tour and be able to hang out with our close friends. The silver lining in this is that Tom Hunting no longer needs chemo and will have more time to work his way back to doing a full tour. He will make his return behind the drums at Aftershock but a full tour requires more preparation, so that is the good part.

Bay Strikes Back dates have been rebooked beginning in April and will include additional cities not originally scheduled for the tour.

“Usually when I’m asked to contribute a quote to an announcement it pertains to something I’m extremely excited about,” says DEATH ANGEL vocalist Mark Osegueda. “In this case, I’m gutted… It pains me to announce that The Bay Strikes Back U.S. Tour is being postponed. No one was looking forward to this more than me. But, on the brighter side of things, the tour is in fact going to happen - just at a later time. And I can assure you that the already ravenous to play live members of Death Angel promise to provide a crushing set during a crushing tour. The Bay WILL Strike Back!”

All tickets purchased for the original dates will be honored for the new dates. Refunds will be available at point of purchase.
