Ray Hawthorne Announces New Record + Screams Through Tough Love On New Single!

Pop punk's most lovable liability, Ray Hawthorne, returns today with the announcement of his new record, "Ray Hawthorne Can't Be Trusted" (set for release on October 15) alongside a heart-on-sleeve anthem, "Tough As Nails", about inheritance, masculinity, and the messy ways love gets passed down. Pre-save the upcoming record, "Ray Hawthorne Can't Be Trusted", HERE.

As a grounding moment on "Ray Hawthorne Can't Be Trusted", "Tough As Nails" confronts the space between being taught to be tough and learning that vulnerability can be a strength in its own right. Through a heavy, but heartfelt tribute to the person who raised him, Ray Hawthorne reflects on the strength, sacrifice, and complicated love that shaped him.

Where "Ray Hawthorne Sucks" was earnest and "Ray Hawthorne Isn't Real" was chaotic, "Ray Hawthorne Can't Be Trusted" continues a catalog that treats humor, self-awareness, and self-destruction as adjacent concepts. As a whole, Ray Hawthorne leans into emotional whiplash and damage control on his earlier records, while "Ray Hawthorne Can't Be Trusted" (produced by Pete Zen) is aimed at the part of the cycle where the damage has already become too familiar.

Digging into the heart behind "Tough As Nails", Ray Hawthorne proves he is capable of emotional availability.

As he gears up to release "Ray Hawthorne Can't Be Trusted", Ray Hawthorne is once again sharing how a few bad decisions, too much self-awareness, and an inability to leave well enough alone somehow became a full-length record:

"If you or someone you know has been personally effected by the lyrics of Ray Hawthorne Can’t Be Trusted, don’t @ me. This is the first of my albums that was made intentionally. Prior to this I would release a lot of singles, see what people liked the best, then try to retroactively fit the top performers and some unreleased material into a functional album with coherent themes. NOT THIS TIME MOTHERFUCKERS. THIS IS 13 TRACKS OF UNADULTERATED RAGE MEANT TO RIP YOUR HEART OUT WITH NO REGARD FOR YOUR PERSONAL SAFETY. (I read that in the voice of a monster truck rally commercial by the way.) But on a serious note, it was fun getting together with Pete and really thinking through the album as a whole. How it should ebb and flow, where we should push heavier or pull back, things like that. So I hope that level of cohesion is more present than my previous albums when you listen through the record.”

Renowned for his work in North Kingsley, the acclaimed project alongside Shavo Odadjian of System of a Down, Hawthorne initially captured hearts as the Heartbreak Hero with his inaugural solo release "Heartbreak Feels Good in a Place Like This". Building on his solo work, his debut record "Ray Hawthorne Sucks" further cemented his status as a bold new voice in pop punk, quickly amassing a devoted following and over 20 million streams across all streaming platforms for his magnetic charm and razor-sharp wit.

Blending heartbreak, sarcasm, and just the right amount of emotional stability, Ray Hawthorne leads with a messy kind of hope, turning emotional freefall into something you can scream along to. Where debut album and his firstborn, "Ray Hawthorne Sucks", leaned into an earnest DIY vulnerability, his previous record, "Ray Hawthorne Isn't Real", took a turn and tapped into the restless defiance of a secondborn. The 15 tracks helped embrace the chaos, laugh at the pain, and maybe, just maybe, allow us all to find a little redemption along the way.

Starting from the very real possibility that Ray Hawthorne is just a guy screaming into the ether (and somehow making it sound catchy), his catalog has become a refuge for anyone who's ever felt too loud, too sensitive, or too much. Loud, petty, and deeply cathartic, Ray Hawthorne is proudly one of the most unapologetically honest voices modern pop-punk.

Be sure to stay tuned for more Ray Hawthorne news coming very soon.

ABOUT RAY HAWTHORNE

Do you remember that episode of Degrassi where Ashley really wants Craig to tell her he loves her, but Craig gets all panicked and can’t tell her that he does? It causes so much drama in their relationship. She begins to question her feelings for him and because of that, he becomes seemingly unsure of his feelings for her. So, in an effort to quell the bad vibes, Craig writes a song that includes lyrics IMPLICITLY AND EXPLICITLY stating that he loves her. (Total banger by the way, the only song of his I like better is the one he sings at the battle of the bands after the two inevitably break up, it’s also about Ashley. I believe it’s called ‘What I Know’) Anyway, Craig was only able to admit he loved Ashley in song form, but you as the viewer are left wondering ‘Does he really love her, or was this just his solution to end the drama?’ Or, ’Is this truly the only way he can express himself because he’s kind of nervous about speaking his true feelings outside of the structured environment of a song?’. I tend to believe it’s a mixture of both. So what I’m trying to say is, this collection of songs is kind of like that. I always feel like I have so much to say but often feel a bit too vulnerable when discussing my actual feelings. So for the majority of my life, I’ve just written them into songs instead. These songs can be quite vulnerable even if they seem silly at times. So now you’re left to wonder... am I telling the truth or just trying to get rid of Ashley’s bad vibes?

Der Weg einer Freiheit Announce Instrumental Version of Innern

The German progressive black metal band Der Weg einer Freiheit are announcing an instrumental version of their critically-acclaimed sixth album. The instrumental version of Innern marks the album’s one-year anniversary by highlighting the compositions and instrumentation that underpins one of the band’s most introspective albums.

Along with the announcement, today, Der Weg einer Freiheit are releasing the instrumental version of “Xibalba” across all digital platforms. The song carries particular significance for Innern. It was the first song on the album that the band finished the instrumentation for but was the last to receive vocals.

Listen to the instrumental version of “Xibalba” below:

The instrumental version of Innern comes out on all digital platforms September 11, 2026 via Season of Mist.

"The initial idea came from our bassist, Alan," says Der Weg einer Freiheit vocalist and guitarist Nikita Kamprad. Alan Noruspur spent months living with the instrumental version of "Xibalba" during the writing process for Innern. He found himself missing it once vocals were added. That attachment led the band to reconsider an idea they had floated even before the original release of Innern: a fully instrumental companion to the album.

The instrumental edition is not simply a muted version of the original mix. Kamprad built an entirely new mix for the release, rebalancing instrument levels and adding new atmospheric layers in places. "The instrumental version has to carry the same atmosphere, emotion and narrative on its own," he explains. "Removing the vocals allows all of these carefully crafted details to breathe." With the vocal layer gone, the synthesizers and ambient textures that give Innern its cinematic scale, treated by Kamprad as compositional elements rather than embellishments, move to the foreground, alongside the interplay between Kamprad and Nicolas Rausch's guitars, Alan Noruspur's bass and Tobias Schuler's drums.

"Every song usually begins as an instrumental composition, so in many ways, this version of Innern represents the songs in their original form” Kamprad says. “We don't see it as an alternative to the original album, but as another perspective on the same body of work, one that places the focus entirely on the music itself."

The original version of Innern is available now on Season of Mist

DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT stand now at the peak of a fifteen-year evolution. Their music is as concerned with silence as it is with sound, as shaped by introspection as by fury. As they prepare to bring Innern to European stages in autumn 2025, they do so not as provocateurs of extremity, but as artists navigating the fragile space between collapse and clarity. In a genre often defined by spectacle, DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT remain committed to vulnerability, transformation, and truth.

First single “Obsession” off upcoming album by WICKED will be unleashed today on all digital streaming services, accompanied by a live visualizer!

"October 31st, marks the end of the harvest! The boys in WICKED are bringing an offering when the veil is at its thinnest! Now you can't put it down. It ignites your nerves, setting fire to your veins, and all you know is you want more. Are you in love or is this something else? Fixation, fascination and lust. Rock N Roll like you've never heard it before! There's a new full length album from WICKED on the horizon and you just may become obsessed after the first single drops this Halloween. Be aware; Obsession by WICKED will be unleashed today on all digital streaming services, accompanied by a live visualizer! You've been warned! Your latest Obsession will be WICKED!"

"We've been really busy in the studio over the last year digging deep into a song writing chapter that has continued to evolve from our previous albums. With each album we feel a growth and evolution that seems to follow us through our lives. As we leave the "Sunburn" album in the rear view and all its reflection of our extreme lifestyle and ups and downs as we started this band, we now look forward to a song writing chapter of where we are going! We can't wait for you to hear our upcoming album release, but for now we hope you find yourself obsessed over our first single and all of its fresh, exciting nuances!" - Danny

"When we first sat down to write Obsession, we were fueled by so many exciting experiences in our lives touring and meeting some of the most interesting characters in Rock N Roll. It was clear our lives had been consumed and fixated on being rockstars and we wouldn't have it any other way. There's something romantic, dark and sexual about that kind of devotion in an ethereal way. Which isn't surprising that this track is dripping with that kind of lyricism and influence." - Scotty V

"It was so liberating to dive head first into this track and allow it to call on so many different influences. Melodic rock with a metal edge, just take a listen to that break down in the bridge! It's already a fan favorite part for those who've caught sneak peaks at our recent shows!" - Gunnar

"Becoming obsessed with something can be such an experience, sometimes for the best and sometimes for the worst. Once it starts, it's almost impossible to take hold of and reel in. We wanted to put all of that into this song and really take the listener to where we've found ourselves. Like a runaway train ablaze, this song will bring the heavy, melodic power you've been looking for when you just need to Rock The F*#K Out!" - Chad Michael

"Obsession" opens the floodgates of upcoming releases and music videos for WICKED's latest upcoming album due early 2026! Let the song rip as you Rock this Halloween and let yourself become obsessed with the magic of straight ahead High Energy Rock N Roll in 2025! The band will be celebrating the release of the new single “Obsession” with a special release show on November 7th at Record Archive in Rochester NY. First 50 people will get a limited signed Obsession poster!

Wallen Reveals 37-Song Tracklist feat. Collabs with Tate McRae, Post Malone, Eric Church & More

After spending the past few weeks teasing song titles from his upcoming album I’m The Problem on NBC’s Saturday Night Live and Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast, Morgan Wallen is revealing the full tracklist to the robust 37-song project. Featuring collaborations with pop superstars Post Malone and Tate McRae, plus close friends Eric Church, ERNEST and HARDY, I’m The Problem arrives May 16. Pre-save HERE.

The album opens with the title track, “I’m The Problem,” a cutting double-edged confession that reveals the complexities of a relationship at its lowest point. It concludes with “I’m A Little Crazy,” a quiet, self-reflective song that looks inward while examining the world outside. Between all of that, Wallen displays his ability to reach listeners on a granular level.

While Wallen co-wrote 22 of the tracks on the album, he tapped into 49 songwriters, curating a tracklist that’s both deeply personal and resonant, while viewing life events through a different lens than he’s used in the past.

“A lot of the concepts and things we said were a little more difficult with this album,” Wallen says of the writing and refining process. “We were trying to dig deep on things and trying to find new angles. And I feel like we did that. I feel like there's a lot of stuff that I haven't said in this record, which I'm really, really proud of.”

I Ain’t Comin’ Back (Feat. Post Malone),” available Friday, marks the duo’s second collaboration following the crossover success of “I Had Some Help” last year, which recently topped two billion global streams. Written by Wallen, Louis Bell, Michael Hardy, Austin Post, Ernest Keith Smith and Ryan Vojtesak, and produced by Joey Moi, “I Ain’t Comin’ Back” teases a cheeky play-on-words, as the guy leaves the relationship, vowing never to return: There’s a lot of reasons I ain't Jesus / But the main one is that I ain’t coming back.

Pre-save “I Ain’t Comin’ Back (Feat. Post Malone)” ahead of Friday, HERE.

Wallen recently became the first artist ever to have two albums spend over 100 weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart. With each album, Wallen has refined his music, but with this one, Wallen digs even deeper, providing a glimpse into his life that feels more intimate, more grounded and closer to his core.

The project sparked Wallen’s 2025 I’m The Problem Tour. Kicking off June 20 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, Wallen’s 20-show run will include stops in Seattle, Washington; Foxborough, Massachusetts; Toronto, Ontario and more. With a second stop recently added in Madison, Wisconsin, Wallen’s appearances will mark the first time an artist has played two consecutive nights at Camp Randall Stadium.

A rotating lineup of guests including Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett and Koe Wetzel join in direct support with Gavin Adcock, Corey Kent, Ella Langley and Anne Wilson as first-of-three across select dates. Coupled with Wallen’s Sand In My Boots Festival, these 21 shows are the only place to see the superstar in 2025.

Introducing Katerina Nicole! Artist to Release "Serene In Violent Oceans" EP + Shares "What I Know Now" Video

Katerina Nicole is the voice of a storm — a haunting presence where fragile whispers rise above crashing waves of sound and the thunderous weight of darkness. Her music exists in contrasts: delicate yet unrelenting, a dance of light and shadow, where beauty and brutality intertwine. Each song feels like a ritual, unraveling themes of transformation, resilience, and the quiet strength found in chaos.

With her debut EP, Serene in Violent Oceans, Katerina invites listeners into a world as turbulent as it is breathtaking, offering a glimpse of the beauty hidden within the storm.

The EP arrives on February 21. Pre-save here.

Today, she has shared the video for "What I Know Now."

Watch it below.

The gorgeously heavy track is a captivating exploration of self-discovery and the importance of embracing one's true desires. The song delves into the struggles of wearing a mask to fit societal expectations, only to find that such denial leads to chaos and confusion.

Here, Katerina reflects on her journey of learning from past experiences and the transformative power of accepting one's worth. The song encourages listeners to shed their façades and embrace their authentic selves, reminding us that true fulfillment comes from acknowledging and pursuing our deepest desires.

"What I Know Now" and its emotive melodies and relatable lyrics will resonate with anyone who has ever felt the pressure to conform. Katerina's soulful voice guides us through the madness of ignoring our true selves, ultimately leading to a message of empowerment and self-acceptance.
