The wait is almost over. Swedish retro rock sensation SPIDERS are back with a bang, releasing their latest single, "Mess With My Emotions", as the final teaser before their highly anticipated new album, 'Sharp Objects', sees the light of day on February 14th via Wild Kingdom/Sound Pollution. In addition, the single arrives with an eye-catching music video that matches the track's intensity, available to view below.

True to the band’s signature style, "Mess With My Emotions" fuses nostalgic seventies vibes with a fresh, modern edge. The track showcases an electric interplay between John Hoyles' masterful guitar work and the powerhouse vocals of Ann-Sofie Hoyles. Together, they create a sound that’s both deeply rooted in classic rock and unmistakably relevant for today’s music scene.

UK electronic duo Dragon Welding shares 'We Dance Among You', an uptempo tale of planetary decline

UK electronic-synthpop duo Dragon Welding presents their latest single 'We Dance Among You', the second offering from their forthcoming album 'The Naughty Step', out February 28 via Dimple Discs. 

Dragon Welding is an anagram of Andrew Golding, perhaps best known as co-founder and guitarist of Essex-based indie noise-pop legends The Wolfhounds. He shares, "The theme here is how climate change denial has elevated ignorance to ridiculous levels. ‘Drill Baby, Drill’. The next generations of people will look back at our generation in absolute horror. It’s about those hiding amongst us in plain sight. Profit over the planet every time with a complete disregard for the next generations...

We have failed to engage society
Leaving clues for the future to guess
Agendas built on real anxieties
Elvis left the building in a terrible mess

This insanity is perfectly captured in a dynamic 'stop-start' animation, created by award- winning graphic artist Andy Royston, who also designed the album's cover.

For this album, Golding is joined by vocalist Nik Cockshott (formerly of leftfield indie rockers The Spores and The Keatons). In late 2024, the duo shared the album's first single ‘Up And Away’, a clarion call to a dozing generation, released as a 3-track offering. Initially joining Golding for a one-off show in 2023, Cockshott and Golding soon began working together on new material, resulting in the 2024 single 'These Are Dangerous Times', a radical electronic reworking of Dragon Welding's debut release five years prior, essentially marking Dragon Welding's rebirth as a group.

After debuting in 2019 with a well-received eclectic eponymous album, Dragon Welding released the all-instrumental 'Lights Behind The Eyes’ (2021) and then ‘Fictionary’ (2023), which featured guest appearances by Anthony Chapman of Collapsed Lung and Alice Golding of The Othyrs.

With a consistent voice, a solid focus on idiosyncratic and, at times, dark electronic backing, augmented by an increasing plethora of obtuse instrumentation, unpretentious ecologically and socially-relevant lyrics, this incarnation of Dragon Welding is ready to present their new material. The new album continues DW's tradition of blending clever guitar with mischievous sonic and rhythmic manipulations.

“Dragon Welding is very much about following the noise and seeing where it goes. We never deliberately set out to create a particular sound but, for these songs, I was trying to ensure that my contributions on guitar were overlaid onto the sparsity of the sound. I deliberately left gaps in the canvas to fill out later once the music had dried," says Andrew Golding.

"It is an expansion of the Dragon Welding sound of the previous albums. Having Nik sing on all the tracks gave me an impetus to focus on the lyrics and music, letting him interpret them in his own way. It’s very much ‘80s electronica meets glam rock via paranoia.”

'We Dance Among You' is out now via Bandcamp.  'The Naughty Step' album, set for release on February 28, is now available for pre-order. Vinyl and CDs will be available from Rough Trade, Amazon and Resident Records.

On March 1, Dragon Welding's album launch show will take place at Betsey Trotwood in London, along with krautrock-folkrock outfit (and label-mates) The Othyrs.

God Complex Announce New EP "He Watches in Silence" + Share Video for "Depraved Idol"

On their new EP, the band comments, "We're incredibly proud of this EP and we're thrilled for people to finally hear it. As a comeback effort, we felt it was important to do things differently, so we deliberately avoided lengthy pre-production and allowed small variations in the recordings to embrace the mess and chaos that sit at the heart of our sound. We wanted to create something more refined and savage than anything we've previously attempted."
 
God Complex continue, "The metaphor most people use to describe rebirth is the phoenix or a change of seasons but a more accurate image for this EP is a cornered animal. Something a bit feral with its drive to sustain itself untethered from restraint."

In regards to "Depraved Idol," the band states, "The title of the first single ('Salt and Ash') evokes what is left behind when everything has been destroyed — but we were also interested in exploring rebirth imagery in the idol of The Green Man. He's almost never depicted as a god demanding sacrifice, so our imagining is one where the renewal he symbolizes can only be attained through suffering and loss — a 'Depraved Idol.'"

EPICA Announce New Album "Aspiral" + Share Video For New Single "Cross The Divide"

Symphonic metal titans EPICA are excited to announce that their ninth studio album Aspiral, out on April 11. 

The album title is derived from the eponymous bronze sculpture made by Polish sculptor and painter Stanisław Szukalski back in 1965 and stands for renewal and inspiration — key words that define Epica in 2025. In Szukalski's work, every detail is a piece of art on its own and there's always more to the story than you initially think. The band saw this as the perfect analogy for the creation of this ninth album: Each song stands on its own with a distinctive vibe and meaning, while together they enforce each other into a monumental effort. 

The album, featuring stunning cover artwork by Hedi Xandt (Rammstein, Ghost, Parkway Drive), is now available for pre-order in the below mentioned formats. The special editions even include the BluRay and audio recordings of the full monumental "Symphonic Synergy" performance in Amsterdam that the band recorded in 2024, with an orchestra and choir.

Recorded once again at Sandlane Studios and expertly mixed and produced by Joost van den Broek, Aspiral boasts 11 new tracks.

'00s Faves Dry Kill Logic Return With New Shows + New Single On Deck for 2025

'00s metal faves DRY KILL LOGIC are gearing up for what looks to be quite a busy year in 2025.

The band will drop the new single "Now You Belong With the Dead," produced by Greg Thomas (End, Shai Hulud, Misery Signals). It will arrive on May 2. Watch this space for more details!

In the meantime, however, Dry Kill Logic have announced several upcoming live appearances at major rock festivals.

They will take the stage at Welcome to Rockville (Daytona Beach, Florida), RockFest (Cadott, Wisconsin), and INKCARCERATION (Manfield, OH) this spring and summer. 

There is also a headline show on deck at Dingbatz in Clifton, New Jersey, set for June 14 and celebrating the 20th anniversary of the band's The Dead & Dreaming release. Get tickets here.

ABOUT DRY KILL LOGIC:
Formed in late 1994, Dry Kill Logic quickly established themselves as a force in the heavy music scene. Under their initial moniker of Hinge, the band garnered a dedicated fanbase with their aggressive sound and straightforward lyrics.  Produced by Eddie Wohl (Primer 55, Ill Nino) and Rob Caggiano (Anthrax, Volbeat, Cradle of Filth), their 2001 debut album The Darker Side of Nonsense was an essential part of the alternative metal landscape, with tracks like "Nightmare" and "Rot" still echoing in the memories of fans worldwide. The band built their live show on worldwide tours and festivals alongside Fear Factory, Slayer, Killswitch Engage, Spineshank, Mastodon, and many more.
 
In 2002, the band parted ways with Roadrunner Records and was joined by guitarist Jason Bozzi who took the band's signature sound to the next level.  Once again with Wohl and Caggiano at the helm, the band released their sophomore album The Dead and Dreaming on Repossession Records in the US and SPV Records globally. Seamlessly traversing the lines of metalcore, post — hardcore and alternative metal the band stretched their wings, embracing melody, dynamics and more complex songwriting. Tracks like "Paper Tiger," "200 Years," "Neither Here nor Missed," and "With Deepest Regrets…" showcases the depth and character of the new lineup, as well as a newfound live ferocity after years of nonstop touring. Co-headline U.S. tours with Nonpoint, Drowning Pool, and Hed PE followed, along with a slot on the inaugural 2005 Gigantour featuring Megadeth, Dream Theater, and many others. The band wound down the album cycle with a run of headline shows in the U.S. and shows supporting Disturbed and Corrosion of Conformity.
 
In 2006, the group was joined by bassist Brendan Kane (100 Demons, A Thousand Falling Skies) and released both their live DVD The Magellan Complex and their third album, Of Vengeance and Violence. Produced by Wohl and Caggiano and mixed by legendary engineer Paul Orofino (Blue Oyster Cult, Bleeding Through, Ahmad Jamal), the band again evolved, pushing the limits of metalcore aggression with songs like "My Dying Heart," "Dead Mans Eyes," and "Boneyard." It was at this time the band found itself as a headline act across Europe, returning twice in the year due to demand. The band also played its first shows in Australia as support for Fear Factory and DevilDriver.
 
Following a series of challenges within the ever-evolving dynamics of the music industry, the band went on hiatus in 2007. Despite sporadic rumors of a reunion, Dry Kill Logic remained silent, with fans wondering if they'd ever see the band return to the stage.
 
In 2018, the group surprised their fans by releasing "Vices," the ferocious first single from the group in 13 years. Produced by Greg Thomas (End, Misery Signals, Shai Hulud), the track was celebrated by fans worldwide as a triumphant return to form. In 2020, the band worked with Thomas and released "Don't See Ghosts," a hauntingly relentless track filled with the group's signature guitar work and pummeling breakdowns.  
 
In 2025, Dry Kill Logic plan to unveil their new single and music video capturing the dark energy of the music. The song blends their signature explosive riffs with atmospheric acoustic elements, creating an aggressive yet melodic experience.  It's a declaration of intent — a bridge from the band's past to a bold future.
 
31 years after their inception, the best is yet to come.

After wrapping up a momentous 2024 with a sold-out US headlining run and sold-out shows in Latin America, The Plot In You are kicking off the new year with a live performance video of their track "Been Here Before" (via Fearless Records). The video comes two weeks before their North American headliner beginning on Valentine's Day in Royal Oak, Michigan, with Holding Absence, Boundaries and ACRES as support. Speaking about today's news, vocalist Landon Tewers shared:

The creatively brilliant Ginger Wildheart is arguably amongst the UK’s best and most prolific songwriters, and his band, THE WILDHEARTS, recently signed a worldwide deal with Snakefarm / Integral.

"The songs on ‘Satanic Rites…’ were written during a period of transition, from extremely negative to positive,” reflects Ginger. “I realised how much control I have over my mental health, and the songs came from that understanding. There’s everything here – catchy choruses, proper fuck-off riffs, anger, frustration, acceptance and revelation, with plenty of insane detours. The album starts pessimistic and ends up like ‘Ah, so I CAN turn my life around?’ It’s a hard rock album for people who love hard rock!”

‘Satanic Rites of The Wildhearts,’ their 11th studio album, was produced by Jim Pinder(Bring Me The Horizon, While She Sleeps, Bullet For My Valentine) and mixed by Jim Pinder & Carl Bown (Trivium, Machine Head, While She Sleeps, Bullet For My Valentine, Bring Me The Horizon) and the record is conceived as a belated follow-up to their classic debut, ‘Earth vs The Wildhearts’ (1993).

Speaking about the track, vocalist Yukina commented:

The returning drumming legend with prog metal titans Dream Theater tells Rock Candy Magazine about his time away from the band and why it feels right to be back in the fold.

“It was a longing to come home, to be with family. The two Johns [Petrucci and Myung] and I started together when we were teenagers, and now here we are creeping up on 60. It goes way deeper than coming back to a band.”

The release of the band's sixteenth studio album, ‘Parasomnia’, finds the friends out on the road and taking their peerless brand of razor-sharp melodic metal to their expectant fans. The band had much success with previous drummer Mike Mangini behind the kit, but Mike Portnoy's reappearance has scratched an itch for many die-hard followers. Mike is very aware of the fans and feels the weight of trying to live up to expectations.

“We just have to write for ourselves and make ourselves happy. Dream Theater fans are so rabid, and so opinionated, and so passionate that there's no way we can please everybody... I really care about our fans. I've spent my whole career trying to model everything I do for them because I relate to them as much as anybody. The hardest thing for me is to keep an eye on that, but also look away from it and please ourselves first and foremost. There's a balance somewhere, though, and hopefully we're striking it.”

Thornhill’s new single “Silver Swarm” dives deep into the emotional depths of the chaotic manipulation and push-and-pull of love, control, and self-doubt experienced in toxic relationships. Speaking on the new track, Thornhill vocalist Jacob Charlton elaborates: 

“‘Silver Swarm’ is a visceral exploration of the emotional labyrinth created by overwhelming feelings and the toxic pull of manipulation. The track vividly captures the experience of being ensnared in an intense, destructive relationship, where one is both irresistibly drawn to and desperately repelled by the manipulator’s influence. The ‘Silver Swarm’ becomes a powerful metaphor for the invasive thoughts and emotions that consume and cloud the protagonist’s sense of self. Long-serving Manchester UK Psychonauts The Speed Of Sound present their mega-album trilogy 'A Cornucopia: Minerva, Victory, Bounty', released via Californian cult label Big Stir Records, along with the video for their latest single 'Permafrost'.

With overlapping themes of independence - both culturally and artistically - each disc has its own vibe and personality: 'Minerva' is belligerence in musical form, 'Victory' is a manifesto of artistic creativity and 'Bounty' represents the fruits of artistic freedom, all taking place far from the grasping tentacles of the ‘music industry’.

'A Cornucopia' began with the band’s own love of the album format and a determination to make long-form music rather than merely produce a conveyor belt of unrelated singles. The interlocking themes of 'A Cornucopia' are deliberately made for album listeners to enjoy, each disc being its own standalone entity while also forming part of the larger whole trinity.

John Armstrong (songwriting, guitars & vox) – John A has developed a vivid style of guitar playing borne of combining rhythm and lead techniques in a flow that pulls the music like a tide steeped in unresolved chords and entrancing vocals.
Ann-Marie Crowley  (vox & guitars) – Ann-Marie hadn’t performed rock based music before joining The Speed Of Sound in 2015 and has vast experience of Irish, folk and also classical operatic singing.

Britain's History Of Guns marks 25th anniversary of debut single ‘Little Miss Suicide’ with fresh 3-track offering

UK industrial-postpunk legends History Of Guns kick off 2025 with the single 'Little Miss Suicide (25)'. Released via the Liquid Len Recording Company, this fresh take on the band's debut single from 2000. The accompanying video uses footage, originally filmed by Danni Cutmore on a VHS camera, of the band writing and performing the song at Earthworks studio in Barnet in 1998.

Based in Hertfordshire, History Of Guns were frontrunners of the UK's Wasp Factory/ FuturePunk scene of the early 2000s and are still crafting their unique meta-modernist Industrial sound 29 years after forming in Cheshunt. Aiming to create a strange alternative world where people can feel safe, HoG embraces the dark as well as the light, bleakness as well as hope - as openly and honestly as possible.

Produced by Max Rael, this single was mixed by Max Rael and Caden Clarkson, using all the original audio recorded back in 1999, and mastered by Pete Maher (U2, Pixies, Nick Cave, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails).  Written in 1998 by founding members Del Alien, Max Rael and Stagger Lee, alongside regular contributor Gary Hughes (who also plays the lead guitar melody), the rougher original version of this song was released in February 2000.

Stagger Lee's lyrics challenged the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide that prevailed at that time - an environment where openly discussing one's personal struggles was discouraged. Projecting his own depression and suicidal thoughts on to an imagined female character, Stagger relays the character's experience of not being taken seriously, as reflected in the title - a nod towards the popular "Mr. Men and Little Miss" series by British author Roger Hargreaves back in the 70s and 80s.

“This was our first song to really feature major chords, which Del wasn’t at all convinced by. In the end Stagger and I won him round by assuring him we were only using happy chords ironically to contrast with the dark subject matter. It’s probably the closest we’ve ever come to an actual proper pop song," recalls Max Rael.

Del Alien adds, "We knew all too well that sincerity wasn't respected or valued in the 90s, so from early on we'd incorporate humour amongst the darkness, we said because we wanted to reflect the whole of life and experience, the good and the bad, but it also gave us a way of talking about the terrible things that were happening to us and our friends, but we could never be accused of taking ourselves too seriously, or being emo or whatever. We may, at times, have taken this a bit too far at times. "

Last year, the band released their widely acclaimed eighth album 'Half Light', a sonic exploration of modern society, addiction, abandonment, different levels of reality and the struggle to keep going. But it is also a reminder that, through this darkness, there remains underneath, a core of hope.

Del Alien - an original punk turned goth - is an anti-authority seeker of truth and the questions behind the questions. Max Rael is in love with the idea of using music to create a separate universe for creating stories and escaping into, was an autistic, music-obsessed child, absorbing a dozen genres before diving into trance after Britpop ruined the alternative scene.

History of Guns' 2004 single 'Your Obedient Servant' was championed by The Quietus and Mick Mercer among the “30 best goth singles of all time”. Taking hiatus in 2012, they released the album 'Forever Dying In Your Eyes' in 2022. Influenced by Killing Joke, PWEI, Bauhaus, Coil, Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy, Nine Inch Nails and Swans, History of Guns have played Whitby Gothic Weekend, as well as Futurepunkand Back to the Futurepunk events.

Retromorphosis Release Twisted New Playthrough

While a fresh mutation, Retromorphosis are a proven batch of tech-death freaks. The band contains former members of Spawn of Possession, Obscura, Necrophagist and Decrepit Birth.

Each of their singular talents is a legend in their own right, but the raw spirit of Retromorphosis' upcoming debut album Psalmus Mortis springs from the ghoulish grooves of bassist Erlend Caspersen. Within Destruction, Slovenia’s most awesomely audacious, genre defying metal pioneers, Within Destruction have officially announced their next chapter with the reveal of their upcoming album ‘ANIMETAL,’ set for release on April 11th, 2025, via Sumerian Records. "ANIMETAL is a culmination of all the stylistic experimentations that preceded it. These tracks are unapologetically authentic to the band’s identity. With each album released after the band’s deathcore era, we have gradually pushed the boundaries of electronics, clean hooks, and pop sensibility. Each song has a unique identity within the tracklist while retaining the band’s signature heavy-core sound. In previous albums, we experimented with melodic choruses, but with ANIMETAL, they have become a defining feature of our music. Every song has its own hook and appeal, and we hope it resonates deeply with listeners. 

"Thematically, ANIMETAL explores a wide range of subjects, shifting between fictional, larger-than-life characters and situations, and motifs that are deeply relatable to everyday life. Heavily inspired by anime plots and protagonists, the lyrics often take on a first-person perspective, portraying the struggles these characters face. From the grim battles within one’s own mind to the delusions we sometimes find ourselves lost in, and the crushing weight of the external world, we aim to create a connection with listeners through the storytelling in these tracks."

Within Destruction are kicking off their 2025 with a bang. The band hit the road in the US this week, fro their Super Sugoi Tour headline dates which started on Monday 1/27 in Pittsburgh, then joining Born of Osiris for their nationwide run kicking off on Janaury 31st in Iowa. About Within Destruction

Within Destruction are an innovative metal group from Slovenia. They have been disrupting the deathcore and metalcore scenes since their formation in 2010. Known for their intense sound, the band uniquely incorporates electronic elements and anime samples into their music, adding layers of unpredictability that have captivated fans worldwide. They gained international recognition with their 2016 album 'VOID,' and their irreverent approach to metal, which has built a dedicated global following.

Their third album, 'DEATHWISH,' which was mixed and mastered by Will Putney, further solidified their reputation. Poison the Well Return + Drop First New Song in 15 Years With "Trembling Level" Video

 POISON THE WELL released the definitive album The Opposite of December... A Season of Separation in December 1999 and it went on to become a benchmark of the genre that has inspired a generation of bands. The album was chosen as one of the "15 '90s Metalcore Albums That Still Resonate Today" by Brooklyn Vegan; as one of the "21 Best U.S. Metalcore Albums of All Time" by Kerrang!; as one of the "25 Best Metalcore Albums of All Time" by Loudwire; and as one of the "Top 60 Best Hard Rock Albums of All Time" by Revolver. Its influence is indisputable.

But the band is not content to rest on the laurels of its past achievements, as mighty as those achievements are.

Instead, PTW are looking forward in 2025 by releasing their first new song in 15 years with "Trembling Level."

 "Trembling Level" finds Poison the Well in top form. Harmonics pierce the armor of a thick riff, and a guttural groove tosses and turns beneath Jeff Moreira's hard-hitting screams. The barrage subsides on an arresting bridge anchored by a dramatic drumroll. A final melodic warning, "Don't you let the silhouettes lead you to the ocean floor," gives way to one last pit-splitting breakdown.

"For me, I was trying to figure how to effectively incorporate elements from our whole discography into one song," guitarist Ryan Primack reveals. "We ended up with this, and it has a little bit of everything we've done throughout the course of our existence."

"Lyrically, it's about tackling a fear," says Moreira. "I tend to write based on personal experience. You're approaching something you're scared to do, going through it, and realizing the hardest parts are actually the ones you should be looking towards because those will lead you to success.” 

In other Poison the Well News, the band has signed with SharpTone Records. More new music is expected, so stay tuned. The band also fortifies its ranks by officially welcoming bassist Noah Harmon and guitarist Vadim Taver into the fold. Both musicians have played with the group for
years. Now, they round out the lineup.

Last year, PTW announced a massive 25th anniversary tour celebrating The Opposite of December... A Season of Separation this spring.

PTW will be playing the beloved album in full every night, making it show not to be missed.

Glassjaw, Better Lovers, and Teenage Wrist will serve as support. New dates have been added in Mesa, Arizona and Lawrence, Kansas.

SOM Share Video For New Single "Chemicals"

SOM have shared the video for new single "Chemicals," the latest single taken from their forthcoming third full-length album Let The Light In, on March 14 through Berlin's Pelagic Records.

With a unique sound dubbed "Doom Pop" by Metal Injection, SOM's dreamy shoegaze roots are on display across Let The Light In but there is heft at its core that is bracing and ferocious.

If the band's debut album The Fall explored hitting rock bottom and sophomore release The Shape of Everything grappled with the ever-darkening world around us, Let The Light In sees SOM turn their sights inward, towards our most primal impulses: Seeking solace and reconciliation from the vibrancy within ourselves and the people we hold close. 

Adversity became the catalyst for change when, due to unforeseen circumstances, the band's founding drummer left midway through the album's writing and recording process. SOM took the remainder of 2023 to reshape and refocus, eventually re-recording most of the album in a new configuration that allowed them to paint in even broader sonic strokes. The result is a raw but richly melodic album unafraid to travel through the depths of human emotion, ultimately guiding us towards growth and enlightenment.

Angular and anthemic, "Chemicals" is SOM at their most dynamically adept. Marrying the alt-metal menace of high-gain distortion and punching, half-time drums with catchy hooks and soaring vocal euphoria; "Chemicals" is the newly-refigured four-piece fully embracing the broad spectrum of their "Doom Pop" dichotomy. Directed by artist/director Joel Villegas, who has worked with the likes of Holy Fawn, Poison The Well, and Glassing, the video for "Chemicals" is a sultry, psyched-out trip that pairs the saturated, lo-fi warmth of CRT monitors with the band's truly panoramic sound.

Since 2019, SOM have toured extensively across North America, Europe and the UK alongside acts including Katatonia, Solstafir, Slow Crush, and many more. This relentless live commitment across 21 countries, coupled with 2023's introspective restructuring, has profoundly altered their creative approach. 

As they began working on this new material, the members of SOM found themselves in a fresh headspace, armed with a newfound, hard-earned maturity. Let The Light In is SOM's testament to resilience and evolution. Born from challenge and change, the album pulses with confidence and catharsis, imploring the listener and the band themselves to traverse the darkness and find the light.
