Finnish Doom/Death Metal Outfit GRAIN OF PAIN Signs to Noble Demon and Releases First Single from Upcoming Debut Album!

Finnish doom/death metal act GRAIN OF PAIN has officially inked a record deal with Noble Demon and is set to unleash the band's debut album, entitled The Moon Lights The Way, on May 31st. Led by the prolific Timo Solonen, the band's music is a potent fusion of dark, emotional melodies and powerful, guttural vocals.

GRAIN OF PAIN's lineup features a stellar cast of musicians, with Timo Solonen at the helm, showcasing his skills not only as a composer but also contributing growls and guitars. Joining him are Juho Räihä on guitars, Lars Eikind on bass and clean vocals, Juuso Raatikainen on drums, and Sini Pajunen lending her captivating vocals to the mix. Taka Eliel adds backing growls to enrich the band’s gloomy sound.

GRAIN OF PAIN's sound is characterized by its intense emotional depth and draws inspiration from a variety of influences to create a unique blend of dark atmospheres and powerful melodies. Windwaker Announce New Album "HYPERVIOLENCE" + Share "Break the Rules" Video

Australia's WINDWAKER — vocalist Liam Guinane, guitarist Jesse Crofts, bassist Indey Salvestro, drummer Chris Lalic, and synths/samples specialist Connor Robins — are pleased to announce their new album HYPERVIOLENCE, which arrives July 12 via Fearless Records. Pre-order it here.

"'Break the Rules' explores the exchange between two different personalities and the prospect of living life to its fullest," the band shares. "One side is wild and willing to act out regardless of consequence, encouraging the other, who is more reserved and considerate, but ultimately unable to live beyond the rules of society (and therefore unable to live care-free like the former). To put it plainly, it's a conversation between an introvert and an extrovert trying to highlight why their way of life is superior to the other, all while accepting the benefit to both approaches."

Shattering all restraint, Windwaker tear at the seams of their sonic boundaries, refining and finessing their craft into something truly unique. Vol. 3 — Live At Westonbirt Arboretum was recorded on Sunday, June 22, 2008 as part of the "In Search Of The Fourth Chord" UK tour. This was the tenth show of the year, and was part of the "Forest Live" initiative by the Forestry Commission, and in fact was a return to the venue for the band who had performed a short run of "Forest Live" shows as part of the "Heavy Traffic" tour of 2003.

Bodysnatcher Release "Human Disdain" Music Video via MNRK Heavy

Heavy Floridian quartet Bodysnatcher have released their latest track and music video "Human Disdain", the final culmination of the story which began in last week's release, "Severed". The tracks can be found on the band's upcoming EP 'Vile Conduct', recently released on vinyl for Record Store Day and will drop digitally on September 3 (via MNRK Heavy). Speaking about "Human Disdain", Bodysnatcher's Kyle Carter commented:

“‘Human Disdain’ is a song that talks about our inner demons as a collective species. We are capable of incredibly complex emotions, and unfortunately that brings in a long list of terrible thoughts and feelings that a lot of us act on and make the world a worse place. The track speaks for itself and is very to the point lyrically.”

Cut from the same boundary-pushing cloth as their illustrious predecessors-turned-partners, Omerta – self-appointed “America’s most hated boy band” – releases their provocative new single, ‘Charade’ out via Blowed Out Records: the joint label venture between legendary producer, Ross Robinson, founder of SideOneDummy Records, Bill Armstrong, and genre-fluid pioneer, Ghostemane. This intrepid, 5-minute opus defiantly dances across classification with ease and reckless abandon, leaving absolutely nothing beyond its scope. ‘Charade’ is an unflinching critique of the facades that dominate our current milieu. Speaking on the new release, Omerta shares:

"The recent death of monoculture as we know it has torn art and culture asunder. This new paradigm presents both unique challenges and opportunities. On one hand, never before has humanity had the depth and breadth of connectivity that our increasingly networked world can afford us. On the other hand, in our infinite search for purpose, we’ve self-segregated into islands of seemingly arbitrary but precise distinctions.

Dressed in our tribal garbs, drunk off petty authority, comfortably smug in our circle jerks, posturing in our personal panopticons, we urge each other to repent at the feet of our flavor-of-the-month god. If the alternative is being “cringe” – tantamount to being banished to a lesser island or cast into the sea – surrender doesn’t really require second-guessing, but it does come at a steep cost: your self. The weak are those who recoil and shrink away from their screaming soul at the behest of the peanut gallery, only to be defanged, neutered, and lobotomized. The strong are those with the will to raze it all and the resolution to build anew atop the ashes, which we affectionately refer to as “violent art”.

“Charade” is cringecore. It’s avant-garde. It’s post-post-hardcore. It’s acid jazz. It’s K-Pop. It’s prog rock. It’s an anime opening. It’s neo metal. It’s an overture heralding the arrival of a sui generis cycle. It’s a bridge that we’ve built across a few of those aforementioned islands. The postmodern condition has relegated Sincerity, Love, and Beauty to vestiges of a bygone era, and, in their stead, Cynicism, Irony, and Ugliness abound. ABOUT OMERTA

Veiled in an impenetrable mystique true to their namesake, Omerta is as obscure as they are defiant. Despite their limited catalog,Omerta's brief lifespan has garnered a dedicated, cult-like following. The lineup consisting of Houston natives Gustavo Hernandez(vocalist), Han Kim (guitarist and vocalist), Carlos Pertuz (guitarist), Justin Zorn (bassist), and Daniel Garcia (drummer) deceptively resembles a 90’s pop quintet more than a metal band, but it seems like Omerta is already aware of that, even dubbing themselves “America’s Most Hated Boy Band”.

Their debut EP Hyperviolence, produced and co-written by Vincente Void, was released in February 2020 – a cacophonous opening salvo for both the band and a global pandemic that'd shape Omerta's future from their very inception. As the name suggests, Hyperviolence introduced the band's signature, in-your-face blend of metallic hardcore, rap, post-hardcore, math rock, emo, and grindcore.

Omerta continued to push the envelope in February 2021 with their chaotic single "i luv u 2" – another collaboration with producer and songwriter Vincente Void. With an active commitment to their local scene, busy tour schedule (opening for acts such as Loathe, Lil Darkie, and Knocked Loose), and a number of festival appearances under their belt, Omerta showed no signs of slowing down. 

Fate would have it that the "nu metal godfather", producer Ross Robinson (Slipknot, Korn, Glassjaw) and the pioneering, "genrefluid" artist Ghostemane discovered Omerta in an encounter that seems closer to prophecy than chance. Sharing Omerta's disaffection with industry malpractice and maladaptation, their collective commitment to, and reverence for, art above all cultivated a partnership that sought to circumvent the obsolete standards of yesteryear. After enlisting Bill Armstrong of SideOneDummy Records fame to round out their team, newly-formed Blowed Out Records would be the Trojan horse delivering the band's dangerous art past the DIY glass ceiling and beyond.

In 2023, the band released their first new song in over 2 years: “Antiamorous”. Also produced and co-written by Vincente Void, the track saw the band revisiting their hyperviolent bag of tricks with the addition of some new and unexpected twists.

Now, with brand new single “Charade”, the band push these boundaries even further, leaving the door open for absolutely anything to come on their much-anticipated, yet-to-be-announced sophomore EP. 

Ross Robinson has referred to the band as the “next generation”. Omerta’s ambition has certainly earned them this nomination, and it’s apparent that they fully intend to live up to it – razing anything and anyone that stands in the way of the accelerationist philosophy underpinning the band’s raison d'être, affectionately and appropriately called “violent art”.

CAVALERA has become synonymous with extreme metal music, a name that to this day still holds the highest regard, a family legacy built upon decades of musical aggression. In 2023, Max and Iggor Cavalera achieved what some would say was an impossible feat; they revisited their earliest releases, Morbid Visions, and Bestial Devastation, and re-recorded them with bone-breaking intensity. A risk that few would dare to even attempt, yet they artfully and prolifically attained their trademark raw sound by means that could only be described as magic or time travel. 

It seems that the ball would not stop rolling as now they are entering the final chapter of their early-days trilogy. Schizophrenia is an iconic album in terms of early thrash and death metal, a household name for those of us invested in extreme metal. This was the point where the Cavaleras refined their dark, dingy, speed-influenced songs, into something a bit more mature, developed, and technical. Decades later, they have once more unlocked the asylum that is Schizophrenia, opening the doors to that banished, twisted recording which will be unleashed unto to world on June 21st via Nuclear Blast Records.

The first taste of the reissue comes in the form of the live music video for the single. 'Escape To The Void'. Fans will enjoy footage filmed by Costin Chioreanu & Olivia Chioreanu from the band's chilling performance at 013 Venue in Tilburg, Netherlands, 2023.

No stranger to collaborations, the Cavalera brothers enlisted Travis Stone (PIG DESTROYER) on lead guitars, and that choice becomes obvious within the first song. The full lineup would consist of more Cavalera alumni, as Igor Amadeus Cavalera (GO AHEAD AND DIE, HEALING MAGIC) once more brought his talents on bass to the fold. Thundering and thrumming the low end with brute force, it is clear that the double Iggor and Igor combination is a rhythm section to be reckoned with.

It should come as no surprise that the CAVALERA brothers always felt that these songs deserved a fresh take with modern production. From April 15th to June 5th, 2023 the band re-recorded the album at Focusrite Room in Mesa Arizona. Mixing and mastering was handled by Arthur Rizk(SOULFLY, GO AHEAD AND DIE, TURNSTILE).

Schizophrenia’s album cover has obsessed and fascinated fans for decades. The brothers left no stone unturned and no detail unnoticed, also revisioning the original cover artwork of the album, restored in hand-painted watercolors by Eliran Kantor. 

This summer, CAVALERA will be traveling across Europe and the U.K. on their 'Third World Trilogy' tour. The trek will kick off on June 12th in Leichester and will make stops in Wroclaw, Oslo, and Barcelona before ending in Switzerland on July 21st.

Eivør comes from a village of 400 people, tucked away amidst the heavy winters and bright summers of the Faroe Islands. But over the past two decades, she's covered a lot of stylistic ground. As a young teen, she played in rock and jazz bands. By the time she turned 17, she had already released her first album of folk songs and nabbed two Icelandic Music Awards. 

As revealed by "JARÐARTRÁ/DUST TO DUST", its gently pulsing first single, ENN delves deeper into Eivør's affinity for dark electronic production. Even she was surprised to discover that her forays into electronic beatmaking were the stems for her new album. But "HUGSI BERT UM TEG / STILL JUST YOU" comes as the album's biggest, most pleasant surprise. 

"I usually spend A LOT of time writing my songs", Eivør says. "Months, sometimes even years." But "HUGSI BERT UM TEG / STILL JUST YOU" is one of those songs that just came rushing out, as if it had been locked away somewhere inside of her, just waiting for the right key. Her new Prophet-5 synthesizer had hardly made it out of the box before she hammered out the songs lighter-than-air melody, which dances like the colors of the milky way. "When it finally arrived, I unwrapped it with all the restraint of a child at Christmas", she says of her new studio toy. 

"HUGSI BERT UM TEG / STILL JUST YOU" is the poppiest and most upbeat track on ENN. The gated drum loops and thumping four-on-the-floor beat would get the blood pumping inside any sweaty club basement. But even the pillowy synths can't hide that underneath its sweet and simple melody, lies an undeniable tension. After all, it is a love song. When Eivør reaches into a trembling lower register, you can feel her yearning. Her passion lights up the video like a thousand suns, soaring above the clouds on the wings of her piercing falsetto.

Eivør calls her Nordic home in the remote Faroe Islands a landscape of extremes. Sitting in the North Atlantic Ocean just above Scotland and southeast of Iceland, with a total population of about 50,000, the climate is “full of contrasts—very dark, heavy winters and bright summers.” Growing up in a small village there, of about 400 people, it’s those contrasts that have inspired Eivør’s music throughout her career, as well as the Faroe Islands’ intense and still-vibrant connection to its own folk music traditions. “A very strong part of Faroese culture is singing together—anywhere people gather, there will be singing,” Eivør explains. “When you listen to old Faroese traditional music, it’s sung acapella and takes you back to its Renaissance roots. It’s pure, expressive, and untamed.” 

Often considered to be one of the most prolific and unique Nordic artists of her generation, Eivør has released 11 studio albums to date, crossing musical genres and always pushing the bounds of the expected. Awarded with the Nordic Council Music Price in 2021, Eivør’s musical journey continues to fascinate.  

As a young teenager, Eivør was immersed in the tight-knit local music scene, playing with 20-something musicians in jazz bands as well as rock bands influenced by Portishead, Radiohead, Massive Attack, Sigur Rós and similar acts. 

By 16, Eivør released her debut solo collection of Faroese-sung folk-pop. One year later, she left home to study classical singing in Reykjavík, Iceland—soon winning two Icelandic Music Awards for her sophomore album. She spent the ensuing years living in Copenhagen and building a career playing folk festivals, but by 2010, Eivør was ready for a change. Her daring Larva album eschewed the folksiness of her previous work for experimentation and electronics. “I needed to free myself from boxes,” she said. It was the beginning of a new chapter that continues with her richly atmospheric new album, ENN. 

The process of ENN built on Eivør’s recent immersion into production and beat-making​,​ but began with a return to classical music. She and her partner, the classical composer Tróndur Bogason, had decamped to a tiny Faroe Islands mountain village of 50 people, called Tjørnuvík with no agenda but to “write freely” for a possible side project. “Slowly I realized: I shouldn’t think about this as a side project,” Eivør said. “This is where I am at right now creatively.” The first track she worked on there became ENN’s melancholic closer, “Gaia,” which Eivør calls “a love hymn for the Earth” that reminded her of the Renaissance music she loved in her youth. On that trip, Eivør also wrote ENN’s opener, “Ein Klóta,” a song about “watching your world from afar” as it changes. “I felt I was making a concept album, in a sense, about the Earth, about our home, our planet. Then it developed into both nature but also human nature—both the outer and the inner landscape, and the struggles of the heart, the struggles between the Earth and humans.” 

In recent years, Eivør has composed extensively for film, television and video games​(The Last Kingdom, God of War) and the cinematic structures of those scores found their way in alongside the music’s propulsive beats, omnipresent rooting in Faroese folk, and the classical flourishes of her opera training. Some of the songs feel like vistas or panoramas moving unexpectedly. “After writing the first two more spacious tracks, the idea started to grow in my head of almost a space opera,” Eivør said. “I was like, what if this journey starts out in space, and you watch the Earth? And you’re so far away from everything that you ever knew? Where am I going? What is this adventure?” The result was a synthesis of her career to date—her curiosity about beat making and noisy expressiveness, combined with the purity of classical music and cinematic atmospheres—and that sonic biography plays out beautifully on ENN’s second track “Jardartra.” It begins with a lurching beat “almost like a heartbeat,” and Eivør wrote it from the Earth’s point of view, as if “Earth is calling on us in the midst of all our human greed and destruction and beckoning us to find our way back to her blue embrace.” 

Most of the lyrics, sung entirely in Faroese, were penned in collaboration with the Faroese poet Marjun Syderbø Kjelnæs. Eivør calls the lyrics to the title track especially “hardcore.” The song is about war— “the wars that are going on in the world especially lately, but that have always been going on,” Eivør says, “and how to find a glimpse of light in this overwhelming darkness.” The guttural penultimate track, “Upp Úr Øskuni,” is a thrilling outlier mixing growling beatboxing with visceral throat singing (it’s certainly Eivør’s most metal moment). She considers “Upp Úr Øskuni” a beacon of female empowerment and solidarity. “I wanted to write about sisterhood and women supporting each other, and these raw female elements which are not pretty and not polite, just raw,” 

Eivør says. “I wanted it to be wild and untamed. It’s quite witchy. When I wrote the song, I imagined a coven of witches from the past and the present all supporting each other, chanting to each other across the chasm of time.” 

After independently releasing her music for many years, ENN marks Eivør’s debut for the metal label Season of Mist—and though her compositions sit outside of any one genre, she is happy to be embraced by the metal community. She identified a shared pagan sensibility in her television scores like The Last Kingdom. “I never felt I really fit into any box,” said Eivør. “I just have to do it my own way.” Recorded with her touring band in the Faroe Islands—where she now lives again, splitting time between her homeland and Denmark—Eivør called ENN “my most pleasurable and also most painful process. I felt that I was stepping into a place where I hadn’t been before, and that’s always scary because you don’t feel that you touch the ground. But it opens up your creativity and takes you to someplace new. It’s woven together all my experiences for the past 10 years, and it’s grounded me.”

San Francisco post-punk outfit Octavian Winters has teamed up with Mark Pistel (Consolidate, Meat Beat Manifesto) on their new two-track single. Out April 30 via Stratis Capta Records, the A-side 'Nebula', which underscores the inevitable impermanence of all that is seen and unseen, known and unknown, is complemented by Pistel's infectious pulsating remix of 'Velveteen'.

Formed in 2022, Octavian Winters is guitarist Stephan Salit (Thrill of The Pull), drummer Randy Gzebb (Thrill of The Pull, Love Club), bassist Jay Denton and Ria (Amenti) Aursjoen on vocals and keyboards. Together, they weave their visceral and ethereal sound into a texture all its own – of stories once told but half-remembered, under a dusk of shadows and stars, in an abandoned city under the winter moon.

A producer, engineer, programmer, remixer and songwriter active in the electronic music scene since the 80s, Mark Pistel is perhaps best known as a founding member of the band Consolidated and contributing member of Meat Beat Manifesto since 1997. From his own Room 5 studio, he has worked with The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, Grace Jones, Therapy?, MC 900 Foot Jesus, Machines of Loving Grace, Hector Zazou, Mark Stewart, Lee Scratch Perry, Cabaret Voltaire's Stephen Mallinder and Fishbone's Angelo Moore.

Pistel explains, "Randy Gzebb called me about remixing one of the tracks off 'The Line or the Curve' EP. I was excited to do so, as we'd recorded some of these vocals at my Room 5 Studio in San Francisco. I chose to do 'Velveteen' as I already loved the track with its fantastic vocal melody and Stephan's unstoppable guitar hook! I  took on the track with pulsing analog synths and a slamming dance floor beat for the clubs."

Octavian Winters also present their new video for 'Nebula', created by filmmaker David Kruschke, who also produced the band's most recent video for the original version of 'Velveteen'. Both songs were lifted from the band's debut EP 'The Line or Curve', released in October 2023, following videos for 'Undertow', 'Ondine' and 'Surreal'.

"Nebula began as an experiment. I was trying to pin down the concept of the song in my head lyrically for a while and just knew it felt very “big”, even apocalyptic in a way. I kept envisioning a sort of “last day at the end of the world” — what would the sky look like? Would we know and understand what was happening? There is this broadly Gnostic idea of the universe as unfolding and unfolding through what are called Aeons, essentially levels of manifestation, until we get this world we live in here," says Ria Aursjoen. 

"I imagined this world reaching the fullness of its life, that whole cycle ending — and then everything reversing, refolding back to the start to make way for the next universe. There is a lot of esoteric symbology referenced in this song for those out there who like that sort of thing. The incredible thing about symbolic language is that it can have so many levels of meaning depending on the viewer/listener. I am sure I will understand my own words to this in new ways, in the future."

Drawing from darkwave and post-punk traditions, Octavian Winters dives into the ethereal, their layered music counterpointing edged grooves alongside lush synth textures and soaring vocal harmonies.

Randy Gzebb explains, "We were discussing what song idea we should work on next during the writing process and Ria brought in the demo of Nebula. We listened once and started playing it at rehearsal and after a couple of takes, everyone had their parts locked down. I started to play with the Tom groove and tried to make it powerful, but still leave some space for the track to breathe. The rhythm and tempo set the overall tone and emotional mood of the song, with guitar and pulsating bass creating a haunting atmosphere with powerful vocal lines".

'The Line or Curve' EP was recorded in San Francisco byMark Pistel (Meat Beat Manifesto, Consolidated) at OW Studio and Room 5 Recording, the band produced this EP withWilliam Faith (The Bellwether Syndicate, Faith and the Muse, Christian Death, The March Violets), who also mixed and mastered it at13 Studioin Chicago.

Over the years, members of Octavian Winters have shared the stage with many iconic acts, includingNine Inch Nails, Killing Joke, Lords of the New Church, Savage Republic, Christian Death, The Frozen Autumn, Everything Goes Cold and Black Tape for a Blue Girl.

Noel Scharis & Jennifer Nettles Release "Love's Still Here" via ONErpm

ONErpm’s Nashville and Latin offices have teamed up to release the duet with hit Argentine singer-songwriter and pianist Noel Schajris and GRAMMY-winning American entertainment powerhouse Jennifer Nettles. Sung in English and Spanish, the lead single, “Love’s Still Here,” is available now and premiered on the Latin Music Awards.
 
This is the first time that Noel Schajris and Jennifer Nettles have joined voices. “Love’s Still Here” is part of the spectacular bilingual ten-song Spanish and English album Timeless that will be released in 2024.

“Ya ven aquí... encontremos la manera de recuperar esas ganas de vivir una eternidad... ya ven aquí, ya ven por mi” ("Come here... let's find a way to regain that desire to live for eternity... come here, come for me.”), verses one of the choruses that harmoniously unites the voices of these two Latin and American superstar artists.

Noel Schajris has conquered the Latin pop music scene as a singer-songwriter and member of Sin Bandera. Thanks to his timeless hits with Sin Bandera, the artist with Mexican and Argentine roots has won the Latin GRAMMY®, and has been nominated for a GRAMMY®.

Since launching his solo career in 2009, Schajris has continued to delight audiences around the world with his romantic ballads. He has six studio albums as a solo artist and has sold more than 25 million records and 1 million concert tickets. He has also performed duets with artists such as John Legend, Brian McKnight, Luis Fonsi, Alejandro Sanz, Alejandro Fernández and the group Reik, among others.

New UNFD Artist Reece Young Shares "Am I Wrong" Video

New UNFD signee and up 'n' comer Reece Young continues to roll out fiery new tracks that offer relatable lyrics and subject matter, crackling riffs, and nuanced electronics.

Today, Young shares the video for "Am I Wrong."

The song addresses a serious issue that affects so many people in this day and age, and it's Young's way of reaching out to listeners and fans and letting them know that he, too, has been there and gets it. The track, with its punchy guitars and layered choruses, is a lifeline and it resonates on many levels.

"'Am I Wrong' touches on the darkest topic I've written about yet," the artist says. "Thoughts of suicide and depressive episodes have always plagued not only me, but a ton of people in my life. 'Am I Wrong' questions if continuing on is worth it. Is wanting an ending a bad thing? Forgetting about the consequences of what would follow a reality like that is frightening. Hopefully, the listener hears these words and finds solace in the knowledge that they aren't alone, and that other people out there struggle with the same thoughts."

"Am I Wrong" follows the previously release tracks "LOW" and "DARK."

New Jersey born and raised, Reece Young emerged and gained traction via his self-released early music. He lays it all out there has put all the adversity he's faced, his personal struggles, his frustration, into a vulnerable and universally authentic sound. Young, now Nashville-based, is "one of us" — a music obsessive who has channeled his passion for the scene and his favorite artists into making his own and getting onto the stage himself. Vocalist + guitarist Ashley Tubb comments, "After my dad's passing, in the time before his funeral, I learned a ton about his life that I previously hadn't a clue about. He's been through a fair bit in his life and this song is kind of about that. It's a kind of 'through adversity, there is redemption' type song. No pain, no gain etc."

"The Shape Of ASMR To Come" is the second single taken from the upcoming new album, following the release of "New Dead Elvis" last month.

Regarding the album, the band shares, "This album was intended to be a sideways step. A move away from the kind of thing that is expected of us... if anything is at all. What I mean by that, is the songs are more direct. They take a much shorter amount of time to 'get to the point.' We also wanted to make this one noticeably 'less metal.' While we love being a bit boneheaded and confrontational, we definitely wanted to explore the more melodic, song-based side of the band’s sound. Normally, you'd see shortened song structures and more singing and think, 'Oh these guys are going for gold….they wanna get on the radio and make millions of bloodstained pounds.' Well, you're very much entitled to think that if you wish, but it felt like more of a songwriting challenge than anything else to be honest. We've done the whole drawn out, endless space rock thing a good few times now and it would've been easy to rest on those laurels. Do something we're comfortable with. Alas, that is not really the point of this band. We'd much prefer to make it difficult and take the long route."

An epic and ambitious achievement, Truth... is, in signature Sugar Horse style, one single long song: a meditation and exploration of everything the note A has to offer.

Sugar Horse recently toured with LLNN, and previously with post-rock luminaries 65daysofstatic across Europe, as well as dates with Pianos Become The Teeth, Liturgy, Chat Pile and an appearance at ArcTanGent festival. A lot of people take the name Sugar Horse to be a drug reference — perhaps fitting for a band that sound like the last moments of a three-day binge. Darting wildly between dark/light, pain/bliss, sacred/profane, Sugar Horse are unpredictable and unrestrained.

Formed in what is now considered to be the utopian dreamscape of 2015, the band grew slowly at first. Far from fully formed, but steadily gaining limbs, heads and vital organs. Finally, 2019's DRUJ followed swiftly by 2020's DRUGS saw them hit on a relentless stride of eclectic releases that simultaneously confused and entranced audiences.

2021 saw the band encamp in a former Lutheran church to record their debut album, The Live Long After, releasing it via Brighton’s own Small Pond Records. Publications such as The Quietus describing the record as "shift[ing] dispositions fluidly, taking elements of extreme aggression alongside floaty post-metal" and Echoes & Dust calling it "a monumental achievement." The album took every disparate element that Sugar Horse previously employed and amplified them, while juxtaposing each next to each other, with genuinely unpredictable and exciting consequences.

2022 saw no relent from the band's fast-paced release schedule, as they put out an anthemic shoegaze single in "Pictures Of Dogs Having Sex," followed swiftly by their collaborative Waterloo Teeth EP. A release that paired Sugar Horse's terrifying eclecticism with guest appearances from 12 other artists in just four short(ish) songs. Each artist coming from a different area of the modern British music scene, whether that be world conquering post-punk bass lines from IDLES' Adam Devonshire, heavy titans Conjurer and Pupil Slicer’s throat crippling wails, or a shredding guitar solo from Biffy Clyro/Oceansize axe wielder Mike Vennart. The EP packs in an album’s worth of genre mutilating twists and turns into just 25 minutes of music.

Swedish post-punk outfit Then Comes Silence presents 'Stay Strange', their latest slice of dark goodness, which sees frontman / vocalist Alex Svenson joined by guest vocalist Dusty Gannon of Vision Video, with whom the band is currently touring North America.

With its memorable chorus chant "Stay strange and pure at heart", the vocals are grounded firmly on an energetic backbeat by drummer Jonas Fransson, rhythmic guitar lines by Hugo Zombie and Svenson's own solid basslines.

“‘Stay Strange!’ is the call that Dusty Gannon of Vision Video shouts after every show,” explains TCS frontman Alex Svenson. “When we returned home from our last tour with them, I began working on the song and made it a tribute to the post-punk/goth scene. It was also a natural choice to invite Dusty to sing the chorus.”

Lifted from their seventh album ‘Trickery’, released earlier this month via Metropolis Records, here are 13 lush cavernous tracks. Apart from Gannon, this recording also features guest appearances by Gözde Duzer of Aux Animaux, Emma Nylén(Emmon) and Jörgen Wall of Whale, Thåström.

Recorded by Jörgen Wall (Jay-Jay Johanson, The Hellacopters) over three days at Stockholm's Kapsylen Studio and mixed by Tom van Heesch (Rammstein, Apocalyptica, Backyard Babies), this album was mastered by Svante Forsbäck / Chartmakers (Rammstein, Amaranthe, Ville Valo, The Rasmus, Apocalyptica). Ahead of the album's release, Then Comes Silence released the singles 'Like a Hammer' and ‘Ride or Die’.

This album celebrates friendship, unity and the feeling of belonging to a group, a tribe. Being a part of what most people would call the goth and post-punk  community is, according to the band, a great privilege. After being on the road and meeting people from the music scene for so many years, the band have experienced a caring and welcoming community. Old and young. Some with a similar background and some just for the love of the music and the culture that comes with the lifestyle.  

Following up their 2022 album 'Hunger', released via Nexilis Records / Schubert Music (Europe) and Metropolis Records (North America), 'Trickery' captures the heart and essence of alternative rock, along with electronic elements, but it is also a salute to punk music, to which Then Comes Silence traces their roots.

Formed in Stockholm in 2012, Then Comes Silence is made up of frontman Alex Svenson, drummer Jonas Fransson and guitarist Hugo Zombie (Los Carniceros del Norte) with Svenson originally inspired by frequent touring with A Place To Bury Strangers and an attraction to horror and the occult.

After debuting with their eponymous album in 2012, Then Comes Silence put out two more albums before releasing 'Blood' via Nuclear Blast in 2016. Their subsequent 'Machine' album was jointly released via Oblivion / SPV and Metropolis Records in 2020.

Then Comes Silence has toured and played live with The Fields of the Nephilim, The Chameleons, A Place To Bury Strangers, The Bellwether Syndicate and Vision Video, as well as performing at Wave Gotik Treffen, M'era Luna, Amphi Festival, Castle Party and W-Festival.

The 'Trickery' album is out now, available on vinyl, CD and digitally everywhere, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp. Then Comes Silence is currently touring North America, joined by Vision Video, Aurelio Voltaire and Tears For The Dying.

Dallas-based indie dreamgaze outfit 9-Volt Velvet presents their new single 'Hey, Candy', a raucous foreshadowing of their debut album 'Nude Beaches', soon to be released on CD via Brighton, UK-based label Shore Dive Records. What can be said about the first single - oh yes, finding your first love attraction is exciting.

Out May 10, this 13-track collection blends washed-out fuzzy and feedback-laden guitars, driving bass, pounding drum beats and ghosty vocals. Taking their bring of 'rockgazedreamgloom' even further, they will also release a limited edition of twenty 7" lathe-cut vinyl via Cryptic Carousel at the same time, featuring 'Riptide' as the Side-A track and 'Hey Candy' on Side B.

Nestled in the fine territory between post-punk and shoegaze with a surf vibe, 9-Volt Velvet is made up of Mark Cross (lead vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards, percussion), Donnie Robertson (drums, percussion, keyboards) and Kevin Robinson (guitar, bass, keyboards, vocals).

Hailing from Muscle Shoals, AL and Dallas respectively, Mark and Donnie met through an ad in a local newspaper, hit it off instantly and formed a band, eventually being joined by Kevin soon after they began performing. Involving past members of of Viva Voce and The Northern Lights, they bring together several decades of experience playing shows with the likes of Starflyer 59, Spoon, The Dandy Warhols, Jimmy Eat World, Sunny Day Real Estate, Kill Hannah, Luxury, Lugsole, The Features, Bleach,  Fold Zandura, 764-HERO and Morella’s Forest.

'Nude Beaches' is the culmination of 9-Volt Velvet's musical journey, showcasing their evolution as artists and the unique sounds they have curated together. Inspired by their natural chemistry and a like-minded approach to music-making, in June 2023, they embarked on an intense 3-week studio session in Dallas, crafting an album that explores the themes of freedom and self-expression.

From the introspective lyrics to the intricate musical arrangements, every aspect of 'Nude Beaches' reflects the band's commitment to pushing boundaries and taking risks. This is a sonic journey that invites listeners to embrace their own individuality and revel in the joy of truly being themselves.

Influenced by such artists as The Cure, Sonic Youth, Swervedriver, The Jesus & Mary Chain, DIIV and The Velvet Underground, 9-Volt Velvet emerged as a recording artist in January 22 with their debut 'Cathedrals' EP, followed by the 'Mirrors' EP in July of that year.

The 'Riptide / Hey, Candy' 7" vinyl edition is out on May 10. The CD for the debut 'Nude Beaches' album will also be available via Shore Dive Records. It can already be found digitally from fine music platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, and Bandcamp.

Written by McCreery with Brent Anderson and Frank Rogers, “Cab in a Solo” was most added at Country radio upon its debut, with Billboard praising, “McCreery has been on a hot streak of well-crafted, notably performed songs,” upon the track’s release, noting he “continues to slake music listeners’ affinity for ‘90s country, thanks to a neo-traditional sound connected to vivid lyricism.” This is McCreery’s fastest rising song to reach No. 1.
 
McCreery was in Napa, California last week participating in “Live in the Vineyard Goes Country.” While in the area, he also gave an intimate performance at Silver Oak Winery where attendees drank a 1998 Silver Oak cabernet sauvignon from solo cups, just as McCreery sang in “Cab in a Solo.”
 
The newest member of the legendary Grand Ole Opry returned to the stage where he won hearts across the nation over 13 years ago, performing “Cab in a Solo” on “American Idol” last night, available now to stream on Hulu. Watch his performance below.

McCreery will return to the Grand Ole Opry stage on May 11, just one day after he releases his new album Rise and Fall. Rise and Fall will feature 13 tracks that find him exploring not only heartbreak but rowdy nights, nostalgia, faith, newfound joy, fatherhood and enduring love, resulting in a project full of insightful storytelling, including the latest and final song to be delivered before the album is released, “Lonely.” The album was produced by McCreery’s longtime production team of Frank Rogers, Derek Wells and Aaron Eshuis.

“I know every artist says it, but this is truly my favorite album I’ve made so far,” shares McCreery. “I wanted to create an album that reflected the music I grew up on and wasn’t chasing trends. So, I brought several of my songwriting buddies to the mountains of North Carolina to sit down and write a full-on country album that told a story, start to finish, and spoke to my soul. We’ve been performing most of the album live on the road and the response from the audiences has been overwhelming. I can’t wait for everyone to hear Rise and Fall when it comes out May 10th.”

The North Carolina native knows all too well there’s a rhythm to life and a cycle of ups and downs. And right now, he’s on the upswing.
 
Now 30 years old and a seasoned country music veteran selling out concerts across the globe with six No. 1 hits under his belt, McCreery is also a dedicated husband and father, welcoming a son named Avery in 2022, whose impact on the singer is highlighted in several songs on the album. Recently, he even celebrated the milestone of all milestones for a guy who grew up on Randy Travis, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and Ronnie Milsap; he was invited by his musical hero Garth Brooks to become the newest member of the iconic Grand Ole Opry. McCreery was just welcomed into the Opry family on April 20 by two more of his heroes, Josh Turner and Randy Travis.
 
But folks like McCreery know it means more when you’ve seen the other side. For him, each highlight has come in contrast to a challenge – things like the loss of his first record deal and the year of naysaying uncertainty that followed before he built himself up again, brick by brick. “I feel like we’re on the rise now, but I’ve fallen pretty low as well,” McCreery admits. “I learned from every little part of that, and it helped me to know who I was as a person – let alone an artist. The rises and the falls helped craft these songs. They made this album what it is.”
