Levels Announce "Pulse" EP + Share "Siren Hymn" Video

SharpTone Records recently welcomed Central Arkansas-based quartet Levels — Kolby Carignan [vocals], Jager Felice [guitar], Jacob Hubbard[bass], and Dalton Kennerly [drums] — to its global roster.

"'Siren Hymn' tells a story about the deep affection a person can have toward a significant other," the band states. "If you've ever experienced the bliss and the feelings that come along with entering and sustaining a loving experience, then you will relate to this track. The song displays the absolute highest of highs that two souls can reach together as one."

Since emerging in 2016, Levels have consistently challenged themselves and the culture of heavy music. Following the 2018 release of the self-titled Levels LP, their signature style evolved across fan favorite singles such as "Encapsulate," "Eon," and "Chauvinist," which amassed over 649K Spotify streams and counting. Along the way, the band performed alongside everyone from VRSTY and Glass Hands to Beartooth, The Devil Wears Prada, Oceano, and more. The band also powered this rise in D.I.Y. fashion, recording, mixing, and producing the songs and shooting and even editing their own videos. During 2023, they entered KonKrete Studios with producer Jonathan Dolese to record new music. The musicians channeled inspirations as diverse as Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, The Prodigy, Poppy, and Static-X in addition to jungle, trance, and house.

Alienist Sign To UNFD + Share Video For "Prisoner Of You"

Wollongong five-piece Alienist unleash towering metalcore mayhem with their brand new single "Prisoner Of You," out now. The new track also heralds the group announcing its worldwide signing to UNFD.

"We are beyond excited to start this journey with UNFD," Alienist share of their new label home. "We have all grown up idolizing bands from this label and to now be a part of it is absolutely surreal!"

Weaving a biting commentary on a toxic relationship alongside catharsis, "Prisoner Of You" dazzles with its angular riffs, caustic verses, and swelling, melodic choruses, pushing Alienist's hulking prowess into a brand new stratosphere alongside powerful ruminations at its core. The track's accompanying music video, directed by Ten of Swords Media, captures and amplifies the track's urgency and energy, with Alienist also showcasing their magnetic live prowess in the process.

"'Prisoner Of You' is an analysis of a toxic and abusive relationship and how it can feel to be in that situation with no escape in sight, to be a prisoner," Alienist share of their brand new track. "It comes from an angry perspective towards the abusive person that has attempted to destroy us emotionally or physically and the realisation of how terrible an individual that commits those acts towards someone is. It hopefully serves as a reminder to people that these situations are not okay and to seek help and support if they feel like they're in a toxic or abusive relationship."

Brooklyn electro-rapper Aly G presents her new single ‘Super Power’. With her catchy yet conscious electro-rap, she exalts women’s various powers, which exhibit themselves both in expected and quite surprising ways.  

Aly G is the neon hip hop doppelganger of musician, producer, choreographer and singer-songwriter Alyson Greenfield, spitting rapid-fire rhymes with equal parts fun, feminism and fierceness, slaying the mic with quirky, clever raps about gentrification, misogyny, superpowers and ovaries.

Alyson Greenfield is also one-half of POLYVOX, a duo with Joe McGinty (Psychedelic Furs), creator and curator of NYC’s famed Loser’s Lounge. Earning praise from NYC's The Deli, Greenfield was also one of the first five artists chosen to record at Converse’s Rubber Tracks studio in Brooklyn.

‘Super Power’ proclaims that being a woman is inherently a Super Power in itself. It tells personal stories of fighting off muggers and sexual assaulters with a feistiness that might be unexpected. It asserts that the ability to give birth and sustain another life is so badass, that women can be as fierce as needed in any situation.

“In flight or fight situations, you learn which way you go and, when I was mugged in Chicago and in another instance, sexually assaulted on the subway in NYC, I learned I am definitely a fighter. My energy got so big that both of the guys ended up running away from me. Instead of total fear, the thoughts in my head were, "Get away from me. My stuff is not yours! My body is not yours! Get out of my space! “I had heard the story of a woman who lifted a car to save her baby (which I reference in the track), and I felt that same adrenaline pumping through me, making me feel almost superhuman, in these situations," says Aly G.

“In the track I say, "Anything you can do, I can do bleeding / My body can sustain life through a feeding".  We don't have to be able to sprout webs from our fingers or fly through the air in order to do superhuman things, because as women we already have the power to do and face impossible things just by being who and what we are.”

This single follows Aly G’s debut single 'Build It Up', which claps back at the urban renewal trend and increasing gentrification in Brooklyn, showcasing her socially conscious NYC vibe, whip-smart vocab, sly comedic observances and rapid-fire delivery.

An Ohio native, Alyson started freestyling while at college in Wisconsin, the rhymes spontaneously popping into her head. With her MFA in creative writing, she moved to NYC and built up a following as a singer-songwriter until one night at a hip hop club, a spark ignited that birthed the artist, who evolved into Aly G. Incorporating beatboxing into her performances, along with covers of her fave 90s rap classics, she gained attention from The New Yorker and HuffPost for her innovative genre-blending and high energy performances. She has also recorded her own renditions of LL Cool J's 'Mama Said Knock You Out' and Coolio’s 'Gangsta’s Paradise'.

Inspired by Lauryn Hill, Saul Williams, Santigold, and Salt-N-Pepa, she began writing material that personified the fun-loving, colorful swagger of Aly G, including the hilarious true story about a friend’s unfortunate celeb experience 'Michael Cera C*ckblocked Me at SXSW'. Twice featured at The American Beatboxing Championships (earning props from Rahzel from The Roots), she has performed alongside artist /actress Awkwafina and visionary emcee Jean Grae.

Alyson’s music and original compositions have been featured on Fox, Lifetime, AOL, WNYC, and in TV/films including 'Conception', 'Super Sleuths', 'Creatures of Comfort', 'Dance Moms' and 'The American Templars'. She also founded NYC’s Tinderbox Music Festival, showcasing over 100 emerging female musicians from around the world in its four-year run, garnering press from The New York Times, Time Out New York, Billboard, Glamour and more.

For modern day prog and metal fans, Kallias can be compared to bands such as Opeth, Meshuggah, and Decapitated. Vicious Rain Share "Crown of Thorns" Video

 Swiss act Vicious Rain — vocalist David Häusermann, guitarist and vocalist Mauro Gugerli, guitarist Tristan Meier, bassist Loris De Notaristefano, and drummer Michael Teufelberger — have released their third single "Crown of Thorns."

"'Crown of Thorns' echoes the notion that evading one's challenges can lead to greater troubles, ultimately exacerbating the situation. Yet, it also sparks an awakening to face the uncertainties, initiating a path towards healing and self-exploration," says Gugerli.
 
"'Crown of Thorns' is an introspective anthem. It channels the raw frustration of grappling with personal stagnation and the difficulty of changing for the better. It's a poignant reflection on the challenge of holding onto memories of better times while recognizing that toxic patterns can affect one's own mental well-being," states Häusermann.

The new track follows "Blackout."

Formed in late 2022, Vicious Rain are an alternative metalcore band hailing from Baden, Switzerland. The members bring several years of professional recording and live show experience to the mix. Combining influences as intertwined singing/screaming vocals — with a pinch of hope-infused singalongs, screaming melodic leads topped with crushing breakdowns — embracing everything from the heavy side of the genre all the way to the more intimate and melodic side. Driver Williams has signed an exclusive songwriting agreement with Jody Williams Songs(JWS) and Warner Chappell Music. Williams, a Nashville native, has written songs for Eric Church, Luke Combs, Jason Aldean, Morgan Wallen, Jon Pardi, Lainey Wilson, Jackson Dean and many others. Williams is also the original lead guitarist in Eric Church's band, a position he has held since 2005.  
 
At JWS, he continues to work with his father, founder Jody Williams; Senior Director, Creative Nina Jenkins Fisher and Creative Manager Tenasie Courtright.

ARMORED DAWN emerged in 2014 and quickly became dominant in the Brazilian metal scene. After all, there were tours and shows alongside great bands like SAXON, MEGADETH, SCORPIONS, WHITESNAKE, EUROPE, HAMMERFALL, RHAPSODY, FATES WARNIND, SABATON and TARJA.

Swedish action rock legends THE HELLACOPTERS have announced the release date for the long overdue physical re-issue of their classic album Grande Rock from 1999, which hasn't been available to purchase on vinyl for over 20 years. This new edition of Grande Rock will be released on February 16th, 2024, as a 2LP, 2CD and digital edition all of which contain both the remastered original album as well as a revisited and remixed version with additional guitars by Dregen, plus additional percussion and piano and new backing vocal tracks. Just like the original release back in 1999, the vinyl edition exclusively features the Venom cover 'Angel Dust' as a bonus track.

Swedish high energy rock and roll band THE HELLACOPTERS released their eighth studio album titled Eyes Of Oblivion on April 1st, 2022. It marked the first full-length since the release of their temporary farewell record Head Off in 2008, and was met with massive acclaim from fans and media alike. Charting #1 in Sweden, #3 in Germany, #6 in Finland, the band celebrated a triumphant return culminating in a show with the mighty Iron Maiden in Gothenburg in July 2022, and gigs with Ghost in Germany in June 2023.

On February 16th, 2024 they will now release not one, but two stunning versions of their classic Grande Rock album. Entitled Grande Rock Revisited it has been remastered by Henke Jonsson, and furthermore has been completely remixed by Michael Ilbert at Hansa Studios, Berlin using the original multi-track tapes and reanimated with a whole lot of additional layers of rock! The result showcases how the record could have sounded in a parallel universe with Dregen being in the band at the time, and with a more balanced mix, something the band had been pondering about for quite a while. “We all love loud guitars”, Nicke explains, “but not at the expense of drums and bass, which is pretty much the gist of the original mix. It’s ALL guitars”. Girlschool originated in the UK during the New Wave of British Heavy Metal Scene in 1978 and is frequently associated with contemporaries and friends Motörhead. They are the longest running all-female rock band, still active and rocking hard after more than 40 years.

Formed from a school band called Painted Lady by Kim McAuliffe and Enid Williams, Girlschool enjoyed strong media exposure and commercial success in the U.K. in the early 1980s with three albums of 'punk-tinged metal' and a few singles.

In the 1990s and 2000s, they concentrated their efforts on live shows and tours, reducing considerably the production of studio albums. During their long career Girlschool toured all over the world, performing at many of the biggest rock and metal festivals as well as co-headlining with or supporting some of the most important hard rock and heavy metal bands in the genre.

They maintain a worldwide cult following and are considered an inspiration for many succeeding female rock musicians, such as The Donnas.

Original members Kim McAuliffe, Denise (Drench) Dufort are still in the band to this day, original member lead guitarist /vocalist/songwriter Kelly Johnson died of cancer in 2007 and was replaced by lead guitarist/songwriter Jackie (Jax) Chambers in 1999.

In Jan 2019 Girlschool part ways once again with bassist Enid Williams, making way for the return of Tracey Lamb (formerly of Rock Goddess and Girlschool 1987-1991 & 1993-2000) solidifying the bands lineup for future live shows and recordings.

On July 28, 2023 at FORTY-FIVE years young, the British hard rock royalty came out swinging with their 14th studio album 'WTFortyfive?,' an outstanding and deliciously dirty declaration that age is a number that shows how much real raw attitude you have when it really counts. Kim, Denise, Jackie and Tracey leave the grit under their finger nails and the scuzz on their crusty leather boots as they riff and stomp their way through 12 statements of intent showing major attitude, some great melodies, and a consistent crunch to every guitar.

earMUSIC and SKID ROW unleash the music video for "Resurrected," the fifth single from the band's latest album The Gang's All Here.

Skid Row were never a band that was going to let anything get in their way, and their latest video for "Resurrected" takes that idea to the ultimate next level.

Directed by Frank Gryner, who has created eye-popping videos for Alice Cooper and Def Leppard, and from an original concept by Skid Row's Rachel Bolan, the video captures the band in a new environment, showcasing their versatility as they confidently tackle a formidable challenge.

"Being a fan of animation, I was very excited when the opportunity to do an animated video was presented to us," recalls Bolan. "I really wanted to give the video a sci-fi feel that would convey that you can conquer anything, no matter how big the monster, even if it lives within the parameter of your inner circle."

Since releasing The Gang's All Here in 2022, Skid Row have been non-stop conquering all that there is to conquer. With Top 20 album positions in numerous countries, the album has spawned new fan favorites like "Tear It Down" and "Time Bomb," which rock side-by-side with classics like "18 and Life" and "Monkey Business" in their live sets. 

Undefeated and now "Resurrected," Skid Row are back on the road in December in North America along with Buckcherry.

"You don't want to send this band out on stage with a chip on its shoulder," advises Bolan. "That's for damned sure."

HELFRÓ Streaming Deathly New Album

HELFRÓ are coming back in from the cold with Tálgröf. The Icelandic duo's second album is inspired by the myriad dark manifestations of the human mind. Through intense rhythmic passages, sick drummer Ragnar Sverrisson and axeman Simon Thorolfsson  delve into the most depraved cavities of the human psyche, while melting their native black metal with traditional, fiery death metal and tortured lyrics.      

Tálgröf comes out this Friday, December 1. But you can listen to all nine hell-raising tracks on HELFRÓ's new album today, thanks to Black Metal Promotion.

"Tálgröf is a high octane, extremely entertaining album", according to Metal Sucks, "...the future looks very bright for a band that spends a good portion of their year shrouded in complete darkness".  

Lead single Fláráð Fræði puts a fresh, icy-cold twist on the blackened-death metal  that HELFRÓ carved out on their self-titled debut album, with tremolo riffs that rain down with all the fury of a hailstorm.

"Ildi Óhreins Anda" chugs along a melodic groove, though the song is more sinister than it lets on. The lyrics on Tálgröf  are based on interviews, journals and features on mass murders. "Traðkandi Blómin í eigin Hjartagarði" is about how these killers would poison themselves with mind-altering substances and sleep deprivation in order to commit heinous crimes that go ahead our very nature, all while reveling in the glorious death metal shredding that Ragnar grew up going to see with his uncle.

HELFRÓ are still as cold and unforgiving as the winters in their home country. But ‘Tálgröf’ is prime to light a fire beneath Icelandic metal.

Jarhead Fertilizer Share "Mark of the Beast" + "Street Successor" From "Carceral Warfare" Out 12/8 Via Closed Casket Activities

The album's subject matter and theme are deeply personal — they depict an eternal struggle set in the walls of a celestial prison based on the experiences of Bland's late father.

"Growing up, I watched a lot of crazy shit," he states. "My dad was an ex-convict, and that's where the prison idea came from. I was surrounded by that lifestyle. Many of the lyrics compare earth to a prison, and they explore all the atrocities of man. My relationship with my father definitely influenced the band, and this album is almost like me getting to tell his story since he passed away two years ago."

After a series of fan favorite EPs, 2021's Product of My Environment affirmed Jarhead Fertilizer as an undeniable underground favorite.

Throughout 2023, the band recorded Carceral Warfare at Developing Nations with producer Kevin Bernstein behind the board. This time around, the musicians nodded to influences as diverse as extreme metal a la Mortal Decay, Lucifer's Hammer, and Demilich to jazz drummers such as Billy Cobham and Tony Williams, Memphis hip-hop legends Three Six Mafia, as well as acts such as Techno Animal and The Prodigy.

"It's also the first time we experimented with putting samples in the middle of songs," adds Bland. "They don't hear that much in death metal. The samples aren't just for noise or texture. They're actually a part of the songwriting."

The album artwork is also an important aspect of the story. "It's graffiti-style with oil painting, so it's grimy and angelic," says Bland. "The prisoners are winning this riot, but there are these beautiful angels unaffected by the chaos in the fray. One lady is blowing a horn, signifying one of the seven horns before the end times. It's a final warning. There are eight horns at the end of the album. You can wonder, ‘'s it over, or is there life still left?'"

This sort of visceral vision makes Carceral Warfare unforgettable.

"We want to leave you speechless," Bland finishes. "We don't want you to get up and change the song. We want you to sit and think about what you heard."

Modern-day melodic/theatrical rockers Wicked are back with the latest single/video from their new album – which turns out to be its title track, 'Sunburn.' Speaking on the release of his new track, Gvllow shares

"I wrote this song 4 years ago and titled it after a song my late best friend Zak had written in an old band we were in together. I always loved the title and after his passing, I thought it would be cool to name that title after this song I recorded late one night. The lyrics came from a place where I was feeling more alone than ever. I was sitting in my studio by myself and was feeling very low and alone, and saw a spider crawling across my wall spinning a web and i didn’t do a thing about it except watch the spider continue on, because it made me feel like at least I’m not completely alone..there’s a spider friend in the room with me and suddenly it sparked inspiration for the lyrics.

I always wanted to have this song remixed and remastered to give it the sound it sonically deserved and I’m proud to say I’ve finally made that dream come true" 

GVLLOW released his acclaimed 'Spiritwalker' EP in the Spring of 2021, the release saw his stylistic expansion into post-punk and dark wave. Heavily influenced by by the likes of Drab Majesty, Sisters Of Mercy and Bauhaus, the transition began with highly acclaimed single "Last Dance" from his previous, eponymous full-length and continued with the 'Spiritwalker' EP and his 2022 releases - "Die By Your Hand", "Falling Down", "Not Sorry" and the 'Suffer' EP.
