German post-punk indie rock duo PARA LIA presents 'In Clash With The Zeitgeist' album

“J Mascis style guitar works alongside sharply defined songwriting, with elements of The Cure in their late 80s pomp” ~ Clash Magazine

"The embers of Arcade Fire and The Mission with a more pop bent... Listen on repeat to invigorate your day" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Superior in their own-right without reinventing the wheels of the past" ~ Skope Magazine

"Captivates immediately and guides you through the theatric, robust vocals"~ Imperfect Fifth

Alternative rock / post-punk duo
Para Lia present  their new album 'In Clash With The Zeitgeist', an 11-track offering of post-punk and indie rock delight, released via the Berlin label About Us Records.

Para Lia is multi-instrumentalist René Methner and vocalist Cindy Methner, who ignore the zeitgeist of this day to create music that is far from mainstream. This album sees them blend their love for late 80’s and early 90’s indie rock with psychedelic, garage rock, 60’s influences, and early prog rock elements.

Mastered by
Thommy Hein (Die Ärzte, Nina Hagen, Udo Lindenberg) at Tonstudios Berlin and self-recorded and produced at their home studio in Cottbus, Germany, 'In Clash With The Zeitgeist' sees Para Lia grow on yet another level with the band expanding from two members to six with an eye towards upcoming live performances.

Earlier, the duo recently released the single 'C'est La Vie', following the driving lead single 'Sunchild' with its positive energy and the single 'Yellow Rose', a melodic dream-rock composition reflecting reverence of life.

"We think this album sounds exactly the way it should and we are very happy with it. It was a pleasure to join Thommy Hein in his Berlin studio for the mastering of the tracks and we love the sound we created. We added an extra dose of 60’s feel and garage and psych rock elements to the indie rock guitar sound and we think we cooked a tasty kind of rock soup. If we had to describe the album we would call it: psychalovic!" says René Methner.

"Oh tempora, oh mores, der Zeitgeist ist nur Kokolores' - we chose this quote from German Aphorist Erhard Blanck (printed on the sleeve of the vinyl) because we think it illustrates very well the character of the album."

The duo debuted with the
'Soap Bubble Dreams' album in 2019, followed by 'Gone With The Flow', involving artists from the USA, Canada and the UK, not to mention a collaborative interactive art exhibition with painter Louis Renzoni.

As of August 25, 'In Clash With The Zeitgeist' will be available digitally
across fine music platforms, including Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp. where it will also be available on vinyl.

OCEANS - Release New Single 'Chop Suey'!

OCEANS are back with their first new music since the release of their second studio album Hell Is Where The Heart Is last November! The German nu-metal band proudly presents their latest single 'Chop Suey', a cover of the SYSTEM OF A DOWN classic. As you would expect, the Germans have put their own stamp on the song, creating a darker version of the legendary track as they pay tribute to their roots.

Along with the release of their new single, OCEANS also deliver a new behind-the-scenes video, which you can witness below:

Timo Rotten comments:

“Toxicity was one of my favorite albums when it came out, but I hadn't heard it in a while. Then Thomas dug it up again a few weeks ago and the question immediately came to my mind: How would this sound with growls? And whether I could do it at all. We just had to try it out. Did I get it right? I think you have to decide for yourselves.”

About:

Ever since their inception, up-and-coming German outfit OCEANS have dropped jaws everywhere they went. With a unique sound that sits somewhere between nu-metal, progressive, post, and death metal and putting mental health at the top of their agenda, the four-piece quickly became a known constant in today’s metal landscape. OCEANS have become known for their inclination towards innovation and experimentation within their genre; covering songs by the likes of Alessia Cara and collaborating with prominent musicians such as MACHINE HEAD’s Robb Flynn and CALIBAN’s Andy Dörner amongst others. Having released two EPs in 2019, their debut album in 2020, and another EP in 2021, the band featuring visionary mastermind Timo Rotten can easily be described as one of Europe’s hardest and fastest-working bands in the genre. Enter 2022 and OCEANS have already proved that they’re set to continue on their upwards trajectory with the release of their trilogy Hell Is Where The Heart Is - Part I: Love, its follow-up Hell Is Where The Heart Is - Part II: Longing and Hell Is Where The Heart Is - Part III: Clarity, which together form their second album Hell Is Where The Heart Is.

Kallias is comprised of players who are masters of their craft. Nicole Papastavrou's solid history of songwriting and tight rhythms paired with Colin Cook's jazzy and technical leads are the perfect compliment. Silent Planet Announce "SUPERBLOOM" Album + Share "Collider" Video

California metal band SILENT PLANET have announced their new album SUPERBLOOM. It arrives November 3 via Solid State Records. Pre-order it here.

The release date is significant for the band, as it arrives on the anniversary of their horrific van accident.

Today, the band has shared the music video for "
Collider." Watch it below.

"Take all the darkness. All the vitriol, the greed and the vanity; lay it again as dust. Everything can be alchemized. This song is called 'Collider,'" says singer Garrett Russell. "It's about what comes out of our lives when the people we trust and hold closest are the ones who can hurt or betray us the worst. We don't have to run from the pain or be afraid. The dark gives us the energy to make something beautiful. The song is about alchemizing the darkness and transforming its negative properties."

When the band dropped "Antimatter," Revolver enthused, "Silent Planet's new single begins with throbbing electronic pulsations and robotic clean croons, making you think that you're in for a clubby pop song. Nope. The djent instrumentation comes crashing through, and eventually the whole song builds up to a screamed chant that blends poledance-worthy synths with rigid, toe-stubbing breakdowns. Fuck yes."

"A SUPERBLOOM is this strange moment where brilliant fauna spring forth unexpectedly and bring forth such an array of colors, it almost feels alien in origin," Garrett notes. "It only lasts for a couple of weeks before it’s gone. While we were recording, the SUPERBLOOM was happening. For me, the record is getting in touch with the other side and watching the strange and paranormal emerge from the mundane and profane, hence the title."

Silent Planet has consistently transfixed a diehard fanbase. The group dropped a string of acclaimed albums, including The Night God Slept [2014], Everything Was Sound [2016], When The End Began [2018], and Iridescent [2021]. Album standout "Trilogy" generated 5.3 million Spotify streams to sit alongside their genre-bending triumph "Panic Room" from the 2016 release, currently at 5 million. The guys notably took home "Best Underground Band" at the 2017 Alternative Press Music Awards and toured with the likes of Motionless In White, August Burns Red, Beartooth, and The Contortionist.

Over the course of two years, they recorded what would become SUPERBLOOMin Woodland Hills, CA alongside longtime producer and frequent collaborator Daniel Braunstein. A jarring turn of events split the process into two seasons. Trekking through a Wyoming snowstorm in November 2022, Silent Planet survived a vehicle accident. The van flipped over, leaving the group laying in the wreckage of a bitter Wyoming snowstorm as Garrett was hospitalized with a fractured back and head wound requiring stitches.

"The majority of us were awake when we felt the van start to slide," he says. "We had some time to come to grips with the fact we were about to go down and have a close brush with death. Afterwards, we talked about what to do with the band. We went back into the record with an increased willingness to take risks. It bolstered our confidence to try new things. When the accident happened, it did something to my head, and it fed into the album."

Along the way, they settled on a conceptual framework, expanding the scope of their vision like never before. "I grew up in Northern California," he continues. "There's a strip of the state known as Humboldt County, but it's called the 'Lost Cove.' It's a hotbed for strange and paranormal events like UFO and Big Foot sightings. There's so much we haven't uncovered. It's possible our reality as we know it is not complete. We started telling the tale of a 17-year-old who went missing. It's based on a true story with many details changed. Art dictates reality, and reality dictates art. Making this record was a very strange and mystical process. It's the most magical and inspired moment of our career so far."

Silent Planet will return to the road this September, supporting Dayseeker. All dates are below, including Silent Planet headline shows.

POLARIS SHARE NEW VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE "OVERFLOW"

NEW ALBUM FATALISM OUT SEPTEMBER 1 VIA SHARPTONE RECORDS

Ahead of the release of their impending new album Fatalism, due out on September 1 via Resist Records in Australia and SharpTone Records for the rest of the world, Sydney melodic metalcore outfit Polaris have today unveiled the video for the captivating new single "
Overflow."

Watch the music video for
below.

(WARNING: Viewers are advised that the following video contains images of Ryan Siew.)

Boasting translucent melodics, smuldering guitars, and emphatic vocals, "Overflow" is an immersive and layered outing that detonates heavier moments alongside more serene terrain, expanding the band's creative palette with alternative rock contours and deeply raw thematics.

"This is one of the much more personal and vulnerable tracks on the record lyrically, whereas the other two singles took a wider, more outward perspective," shares drummer and lyricist Daniel Furnari. "I feel like the meaning of the song is fairly self-explanatory, and I think a lot of people will naturally interpret it through the lens of their own experiences. But essentially, for me, it's about the struggle of fighting off a panic attack and the impact of that struggle on others."

As with Fatalism's previous singles, "Inhumane" and "Nightmare," "Overflow" emerged during the band's 2022 writing session in the Blue Mountains, with the alt rock leanings beating at the core of the latest track organically emerging from some of Polaris' own personal listening repertoire.

"'Overflow' was another track that came about from one of our writing retreats, so I guess that system was really paying off at this point," Furnari shares. "We were pretty deep into the process at this point, I think this was actually the final track to make it onto the record. Jake had been pumping out simple chord sequences in an effort to break away from the busier, riffier stuff we'd been writing, and Ryan came in with this super catchy sliding lead over the top, which became the basis for the chorus and the central motif of the song. Stylistically, where Inhumane explored a sort of nu-metal direction and Nightmare was a straight up metalcore track in the truest sense, I’d say 'Overflow' is much more of an alt-rock track."

Touching on the evolution of "Overflow," Furnari reveals, "I think my favorite part of this song is the direction the second verse takes, particularly when it picks up the energy for a moment. Rick wrote this verse development that really leaned into the sound of bands like Basement and Balance & Composure, which we both love, so it's always satisfying when we find a way to somehow incorporate that alongside the heavier stuff that we more regularly do. Finding a way to get a big heavy section into this song without it feeling out of place was also a challenge and I love that we managed to shape this combination of sliding powerchord accents, crazy programming and bass and drum moments into a type of breakdown we hadn't accomplished before."

Fear: humanity's great divider, but also its most potent unifier. It's this very notion that lies at the beating core of Polaris' third album Fatalism; a record shaped by the sense of despair and dystopia that engulfed the world over the past few years, and the overwhelming accompanying sensation that we were powerless to change course.

Polaris have already firmly established their place as a fixture in the Australian heavy landscape via their first two albums, the ARIA-nominated The Death Of Me and 2017's The Mortal Coil, which debuted in the Australian Top 10. They have been awarded a laundry list of accolades, album of the year mentions in end of year lists, sold-out countless headline tours of Australia, and have toured across the globe. Not to mention performing at Download Festival, Unify Gathering in Australia, headlining Knight & Day Festival, and most recently performing the 2022 Good Things Festival headlined by Bring Me The Horizon.

Gvllow Drops New Darkwave Banger - "IT'S SO COLD"

Gvllow has released brand new single, "It's So Cold", today. The new track channels the very best of 80s goth and darkwave, offering a spooky, etheral vibe that perfectly offsets the track's lyrical theme. Stream the new track HERE and watch the accompanying music video below.

Speaking on the release of his new track, Gvllow shares

"I wrote this song back in the beginning of 2023 when it was consistently cold every single day in Southern California.

I was recording in a weird space that I had rented out for a little bit in between moving and it made me realize how much of a home body I am. I love being home, it was freezing outside, and I was having all kinds of weird dreams from melatonin and out came the lyrics for this instrumental I had written for weeks. Dreams about ghosts from my past, being too far away from home, and being cold everyday. Sometimes it takes me weeks to write lyrics to my songs but I've just learned to let them come to me, I don't force it anymore"

GVLLOW released his acclaimed 'Spiritwalker' EP in the Spring of 2021, the release saw his stylistic expansion into post-punk and dark wave. Heavily influenced by by the likes of Drab Majesty, Sisters Of Mercy and Bauhaus, the transition began with highly acclaimed single "Last Dance" from his previous, eponymous full-length and continued with the 'Spiritwalker' EP and his 2022 releases - "Die By Your Hand", "Falling Down", "Not Sorry" and the 'Suffer' EP.

What The Press Say About Gvllow

"A fascinating solo artist bringing together elements of goth, darkwave, punk and rap."

- Kerrang!

"SoCal's Gvllow...pulls elements of Eighties goth, post-punk and death-rock into his eerie, dance-floor-ready brand of heavy hip-hop."

- Revolver

"truly a must-listen for anybody who values variety and intrigue in their playlists."

- Alternative Press

"From gritty hip hop to cold dark wave, the emerging prospect goes beyond genre to assert an identity all his own."

- Knotfest.com

Of Mice & Men Announce Share "Castaway" Video

Gold-selling hard rockers Of Mice & Men — Aaron Pauley (bass + vocals ), Valentino Arteaga (drums), Alan Ashby (guitar), and Phil Manansala(guitar) — previously announced their new album Tether on October 6 via SharpTone. Pre-order it here.

Today, they have shared the "
Castaway" video. Watch it below.

"'Castaway' is about longing for connection with the people in our lives who tend to distance themselves when dealing with hardships, and how our inability to help them often feels like we're frozen in time," the band says.

Taking all creative matters into their own hands, the Southern California quartet self-produced and engineered all of the songs on Tether, their astonishing eighth album. Pauley mixed and mastered the album while Arteaga designed and painted the album's artwork. As a legion of devoted listeners worldwide has come to expect, guitarists Phil Manansala and Alan Ashby, Aaron, and Tino poured their hearts and souls into every note, creating another sonic document of their lives.

“With this one, we weren’t really focused on how it sounded as much as we focused on how it felt," Pauley explains. "And that's a weird thing to do when all you're working with is sound. But that was really the goal. And we walked away from making it, feeling like we've accomplished that."

OM&M take sobering looks at depression, anxiety, loneliness, and existential dread, powering through the darkness, and emphasizing the importance of creativity as a balm for mental health. A commanding tempest of sounds coalesces within Of Mice & Men, blending the uplifting eloquence of modern active rock with the atmospheric dissonance of experimental post-rock. The band first emerged as part of a vanguard of future aggressive rock hitmakers. Over the years, they've distinguished themselves with musicality, creative ambition, and resilient determination.

Album eight is no less ambitious. Tether is anchored by a reflective meditation on what it means to draw together as friends, family men, artists, and bandmates. What does it mean to be there for the people who depend on us, knowing we can’t fully protect them from the hardships of life?

Tether is the next step in OM&M's evolution, combining their core sound with experimental and ethereal sound designs. The creative process focused on the excitement of discovery rather than preconceived "goals." Pursuing the moments when the elusive "x factor" reveals itself in the songs. Those moments are palpable in songs like "Integration," "Warpaint," "Enraptured," and "Indigo."

The Of Mice & Men core since 2016 – Aaron, Alan, Tino, and Phil – maintain a powerful bond with their audience and each other, no matter the obstacles. Whether a powerful anthem or atmospheric confession, their songs translate in intimate clubs and massive festivals. "It's about creating moments for people," Pauley says. "Music is the soundtrack to people's lives."

OM&M will also hit the road with Bullet For My Valentine and Vended this fall. All dates are below.

Steve Earle Joins Holly Gleason for PRINE ON PRINE at NYC's Strand Books, 9/13

PRINE ON PRINE: INTERVIEWS & ENCOUNTERS ARRIVES SEPT. 12

Editor Holly Gleason Joins Grammy-Winner Steve Earle in
Conversation 9/13 at the Strand in New York City

“I'm so grateful that Holly has put together this fantastic collection of

the best interviews and articles about our beloved John Prine
spanning the whole six decades of his extraordinary career.
For all of us who love and miss him so, this book is truly a treasured gift.”
– Bonnie Raitt

John Prine has come to be revered as Americana’s premiere songwriter/artist. With a strong empathy for the human condition, the Chicago-born-and-raised daydreamer went on to become a voice who spoke for the unseen and an artist who gave gravitas to those society didn’t bother with.

PRINE ON PRINE: Interviews & Encounters, which arrives Sept. 12 from Chicago Review Press, traces the man whose songs have been recorded by Raitt, George Strait, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Loretta Lynn, Bettye LaVette, Miranda Lambert, Carly Simon, Susan Tedeschi, Johnny Cash across his five-decade career. Part of the Musicians in Their Own Words series, for Gleason who’d known Prine her entire adult life, this is a labor of love.

To celebrate its release, Gleason will be in conversation with 3x GRAMMY winner Steve Earle at 7pm, Sept. 13 at Strand’s 3rd Floor Rare Books Room, Broadway at 12th Street.

“Like John, Steve understands songs about average people yield some very strong emotion – and insight into the human condition,” shares Gleason. “John respected Steve so much, and in many ways, he shares John’s sense of decency when it comes to working people. Having spent three years reading and culling these pieces, I wanted someone who understands that part of John, that’s so simple and unassuming, yet guts you with the truth. You don’t see Sam Stone or Donald & Lydia, the old couple or the Angel coming, but you don’t forget.”

Documenting various phases of Prine’s careers via appearances in the media and other places, PRINE ON PRINEcollects work from noted mediacrats Studs Terkel, Roger Ebert, Cameron Crowe, Robert Hilburn, then Poet Laureate Ted Kooser, Robert Christgau, Dave Hoekstra, Michael McCall and Grammy-winner Bob Mehr. It also reaches into the most unlikely places: Prine runs away with a writer from Hot Rod, graces No Depression’s cover, takes a bespoke role in Billy Bob Thornton’s “Daddy and Them,” receives the Pen Literary Award for Lyrical Achievement from John Mellencamp, a PEOPLE profile, taking Emmy-winning Mike Leonard on the road twice for NBC’s “Today” and a couple favorite recipes and stories in Shuck Bean, Stack Cake & Honest Fried Chicken. Record company bios, Chicago folk history, starting labels and cooking dinner, publications long gone and a throwdown with Bobby Bare are all part of the fun.

“Whether it’s Robert Hilburn seeing John in the limbo of life without a major label, Dave Hoekstra celebrating the Earl of Old Town’s anniversary, as well as Steve Goodman and the Chicago folk scene that birthed both men orChris Willman delving into women’s reproductive autonomy for a charity single of ‘Unwed Fathers’ with Margo Price, Prine’s aim was true,” Gleason explains. “He was fun and funny, but mostly he wanted to see people treat each other with kindness and respect. He was all for everybody, but he had a strong sense of values and decency... and that stayed consistent throughout his career.”

Gleason, the former fiancée of Oh Boy, Red Pajamas and Blue Plate Music co-founder and Prine co-manager Dan Einstein, met Prine as a young journalist working for The Miami Herald. Spending many of her formative years as a nationally recognized music critic in Prine’s world, the access provides empiric insight into many of these pieces. Gleason later provided media strategy and services for In Spite of Ourselves and Fair & Square, remaining friends with the GRAMMY-winning legend throughout his life.

“PRINE ON PRINE is as much about capturing an artist creating something that hadn’t really been done, tracing the arc from unthinkable to commonplace. It would not be nearly the book it is without the help of Dan Einstein, who passed away as the book was nearing completion. But he got on the phone, made calls and helped find some of the pieces here, which might have been lost forever based on what it took to track down some of them. Even the cover picture – from a photo session for PEOPLE – was basically forgotten.”

Having created, edited and contributed to Woman, Walk The Line, the 2018 Belmont Book Award winning collection of essays about how female country artists profoundly impact individual lives with contributions from Taylor Swift, New York Times best-selling author Alice Randall, Rosanne Cash, GRAMMY-winning historian Holly George-Warren, poet Caroline Randall Williams, top James Beard Award winner Ronni Lundy, food activist Ali Berlow and more, Gleason understands curating a narrative can sometimes reach places a single reported narrative can’t. That was the goal for PRINE ON PRINE, and across myriad mediums, moments and conversations, a sense of the man across his truly lived life emerges.

Early Praise for PRINE ON PRINE: Interviews & Encounters

As close to an autobiography as we’re going to get from John Prine, Prine On Prine captures the inimitable, whimsical voice of one of our greatest songwriters, from the beginning of his career to his final days, evolving from the shy, self-effacing, uncertain youngster film critic Roger Ebert discovered to the wise, cunning veteran who left a body of work probably second only to Dylan. Nashville legend Holly Gleason knew the man and assembled this brilliant collection with a knowing eye and loving heart.
       – Joel Selvin, Here Comes The Night: The Dark Soul of Bert Berns and the Dirty Business of Rhythm + Blues;          Fare The Well: The Final Chapter of the Grateful Dead’s Long Strange Trip

I’m so grateful that Holly has put together this fantastic collection of the best interviews and articles about our beloved John Prine, spanning the whole six decades of his extraordinary career. For all of us who loves and miss him so, this book is truly a treasured gift.
       – Bonnie Raitt

Holly has created a beautiful collage by using John’s words to bring us into the center of his world where family music imagination and love reside with his struggle to remain that kid from Maywood whose curiosity birthed the beautiful songs and music he gifted to the world.
       – Fiona Prine

So much insight and so many great personal stories behind this legendary, super talent. If you’re a John Prine fan, you’re going to love this book. If you’re not, please read it and listen to his music. You will then no doubt be one.
       – George Strait

Listening to John Prine instantly jolts me to a higher vibration and feels like I’m walking on holy ground, free, fearless and naked as the eyes of a clown. He shakes me, wakes me, conjuring up emotions I didn’t know I had, reminding me that tenderness is a virtue. His words make me want to be a better person, to recognize myself in everyone’s eyes, to hold all humanity in high esteem - because we’re all in it together.

Praise be to Holly Gleason for this oh so important, exquisitely curated collection. John Prine improved the world by being alive. Let’s do our best keep that big, beautiful ball rolling.
       – Pamela Des Barres, I’m With The Band and Lets Spend The Night Together

The brilliant genius of John Prine was not only the magic he had in writing  about everyday life for everyday people; but just as important was that his lyrics provoked you into thinking about everyday things that you may never have given much thought to and after he woke up those feelings, you realized you couldn’t have said it any better. The respect, admiration and love for Prine and his songs that Holly Gleason has is obvious not only in her eloquent introduction, but in the interviews she selected to pay proper homage to him.
       – Linda Moran, President & CEO, Songwriters Hall Of Fame

Nobody wrote songs like John Prine, filled with humor, humanity, and perfectly cock-eyed detail. But what this elegantly curated collection—culled from interviews, TV and radio appearances, and even recipes—reveals is that...well, that’s just who the guy was. Whether he’s at the Library of Congress or in the pages of Hot Rod magazine, Prine’s wit and fierce independence constantly shine through. – Alan
       – Alan Light, The Holy or the Broken: Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckley & the Unlikely Ascent of “Hallelujah”

I’ve loved John Prine since I was a little girl. PRINE ON PRINE makes me feel like he’s been talking to me since he was a young man, and seeing him go through the phases of his career is a real gift. Holly Gleason knew John, so she understood how to take these interviews, movie scripts, tv shows and recipes and create a sense of who he was when he got done writing or performing. Now even more than a legend, he feels like a favorite uncle.
       – Miranda Lambert

With a deep understanding and knowledge of John Prine – the man and his music – Holly Gleason has searched every nook and cranny to curate a thoughtful biography of one of our greatest singer-songwriters. Her insightful text sets the scene as we experience Prine, the unfiltered raconteur, via five decades of media coverage, from major magazines to niche publications, television scripts to a recipe book, talk show appearances, movie roles and his PEN Award presentation. Prine on Prine is both revelatory and entertaining.
       – Holly George-Warren, Janis: Her Life & Music and A Man Called Destruction: The Life & Music of Alex                Chilton

Reality can involve a lot of imagination, and no one was better at imagining and painting real pictures about people you felt you knew. I enjoyed getting to know John more through Holly’s curation and writing.  A true master.
       – Eric Church

This book is a stunner! Only the glorious Holly Gleason could assemble such a magnificent collection to celebrate the life and world-changing artistry of her friend John Prine. Perhaps the most joyful history book you’ll ever read. His music explodes from the pages.
       – Tom DeSavia, Under the Big Black Sun: A Personal History of LA Punk and More Fun In
The New World: The Unmaking and Legacy of LA Punk

3TEETH Releases New Single “Higher Than Death” & Animated Lyric Video

There’s just a month to go until 3TEETH releases its first full-length album in four years, EndEx on September 22 via Century Media Records. Continuing with the series of monthly singles ahead of the release, the modern industrial act today shares the rollicking track, “Higher Than Death.” It’s paired with an animated lyric video that allows listeners to come even closer with the lyrical venom of band frontman and mastermind Alexis Mincolla.

See the video for “Higher Than Death” below.

Says Mincolla of the track, “The only clear view is from atop the mountain of your dead selves.”

3TEETH’s new album EndEx will be released by Century Media Records on September 22, showcasing the modern industrial act at their most raucous yet, unveiling bold revelations of humanity’s technosocial disintegration behind a brutal soundtrack that sounds all the alarms. Revolver recently hailed EndEx one of the top 20 most anticipated albums of 2023, saying it “promises to be the band's weirdest, most expansive offering yet.”

EndEx is the band’s first album since 2019’s Metawar, which Consequence recently named as one of the Top 50 Industrial Albums of All Time, hailing 3TEETH as “one of the modern bands keeping industrial alive.”

EndEx features the handiwork of a solid extended team including the accomplished sound designer Mick Gordon (best known for his work on the gaming phenomenon DOOM) who produced several of the tracks along with producer Nick Rowe and mixer Sean Beavan (NIN), bringing in another dimension to the band’s unmistakable sound.

Early singles have included noisemaker “Paralyze” (featuring Ho99o9); the gripping sonic salvo, “Merchant of the Void,” that touches on the bleak landscape of modern society amid A.I. takeovers and economic collapse; “Slum Planet,” taking aim at the ills of a sick planet obsessed with over-consumption at all costs; Scorpion,” a track in which the band’s instrumental arsenal is tempered by alluring female vocal chants that provide an ambient feel; and the stripped-back single “Drift,” paired with a video showing the band at work in the studio.

Early tracks have been hailed as some the “best new songs” by Metal Hammer and Revolver. While Metal Hammer says the new 3TEETH material “traces lineage in both Al Jourgensen and Trent Reznor,” Revolver hails the new music as “utterly gigantic and over-the-top in the best way possible” and applauds the return of 3TEETH in 2023 at a time “when we needed their apocalyptic, incendiary industrial-metal most.”

Ahead of the release of EndEx in late September, 3TEETH will release two more singles. Other highlights on the album include a cover of Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” continuing 3TEETH’s penchant for aggressive reworks of pop songs, previously seen on Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks,” Sweet’s “Ballroom Blitz” and Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Round (Like A Record).”

EndEx will be available in CD, Gatefold LP, and digital album formats. Special formats include:

  • Red LP (available at all EU outlets)

  • Red Smoke LP (available at all US outlets)

  • Ultra-Clear / Red Splatter LP (available from 3TEETH)

  • Black-White Marbled LP (available from Revolver)

ABOUT 3TEETH

3TEETH first manifested their cybersocial intentions as early as 2013: a musical entity born out of Mincolla’s Downtown L.A. weekly gatherings known as “Lil’ Death” With Xavier Swafford (keys, synth), Chase Brawner (guitars) and Andrew Means (bass, synth) joining Mincolla. 3TEETH released their first self-titled album the following year. Alliances with the likes of TOOL and Rammstein resulted in the collective’s first live performances and a rise to further notoriety with the release of 2017’s album shutdown.exe. which took 3TEETH to global stages. Working alongside producer and mixer Sean Beavan (NIN) at new label home, Century Media, 3TEETH upped their own sonic arms race with Metawar (2019) and entered a new echelon of cultural consciousness with a collection of tracks including the biting “President X” and their haunting take on Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks.”

"The modern carriers of the industrial rock torch" — Revolver

"State-of-the-art sensory overload with take-no-prisoners level of aggression" — Rolling Stone

“3TEETH bring the aggression with aplomb” — Loudwire

“3TEETH are one of the modern bands keeping industrial alive”

— Consequence

With a Summer Off, Kenny Chesney Goes to Camp

Somewhere in the Saints – When Kenny Chesney has a summer off, it’s a rare thing. And having broken 14 of his own records on the Here And Now 2022 Tour and playing to almost 1.3 million people, as well as taking the songs of No Shoes Nation to the places his headlining success began with his I Go Back 2023 Tour, the East Tennessee songwriter/superstar found himself in the unusual position of having time during the summer to do whatever he wanted.

For the wildly creative musician, there was really only one choice: camp! Given his love of the islands, why not throw the ultimate summer camp? Get people together who don’t always have time to catch up, take the pressure off, hang out, have some fun, enjoy the moment. Oh, and bring the guitars, so if magic happens, you’re there to catch it.

“Usually song camps are a couple days,” the only country artist on Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Last 25 Years for the last 14 says of his reasoning. “They’re thrown in the middle of so many other things going on, and you never truly settle into a groove or the fun of just hanging out. I’ve loved songwriters since I first got to town after graduating from ETSU, so who better to hang out with for a few weeks than some of your favorite writers?

“We had people coming in and leaving, some arriving part way through. But over these couple weeks, stories were told, laughter had, drinks consumed, bars overtaken – and yeah, I think a few great songs were written. We’re still here, having more fun and remembering the reasons we all started chasing songs, even before writing them, than most of us have had in a long time.”

For Chesney, who holds the record for most No. 1s on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, great songs are the most important piece of it all. Most recently topping the charts with “Knowing You,” a waltz that celebrates people who are no longer with us, being adventurous and moving beyond the obvious, he pulled together a group that included Kat Higgins, Jessi Alexander, Nicolle Galyon, Casey Beathard, Tucker Beathard, Ernest, Summer Overstreet, Brett James, David Garcia and Will Bundy.

“Getting people not just out of their familiar routine, but creating a space where the rules fly out the window is always the best way to get songs that aren’t like anything else. I understand people who do what’s working for them, who find a lane that feels authentic. But to me, it’s that song that’s unlike anything else that I’m looking for or hoping to write. Whether it’s ‘American Kids’ with the way it moved, that double breakdown in the chorus, ‘Noise’ and that sense of being overwhelmed by it all, or ‘Knowing You,’ which was such a simple, classic country song, those are the hardest things to find.”

With summer almost over, Chesney will no doubt be closing up camp for the season. But before he does, who knows what else might be written?

NEVARIS and BILL LASWELL present an audio-visual vignette of NYC on 'Interference' single

”Love this! They've made a work of supreme creativity” ~ Carlos Santana

"An excellent, calm and collected blend of grooves and moves, ambience and addiction, brass and bass, analogue and digital, the old and the new, the timeless and the forward-thinking all subsumed into a Dub sound" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"An immersive and atmospheric experience within the realm of dub music...  a sonic landscape where every element has its place and purpose" ~ Skylight Webzine

"Evokes the imagination into eager action, sultry intimations echoed in the music’s warmly fragrant enterprise and inspiriting breath" ~ Ringmaster Review

Manhattan-based artist
Nevaris presents a NYC audio-visual experience in 'Interference', a fabulous grooved-up track that was inspired by the energy of growing up in New York City. This soulful sonic offering can be found on Nevaris' debut 'Reverberations' album, a fertile soulful collaboration with legendary bassist-producer Bill Laswell, which combines dub, funk, Afro-Latin rhythms, turntablism and extended improvisation.

Released via Laswell's own label M.O.D. Reloaded, this rhythm-driven dub-based project, with breakbeat, funk, ambient, and afro-latin elements gained early support from Carlos Santana, who called this collection "a work of supreme creativity”.

The video for 'Interference' incorporates street videography from NYC, captured over a multi-year period. This includes footage of 5 Pointz before it was painted over, shot between the cars of the 7 train. Additionally, it features glitching signs at port authority, Hurricane Irene passing over, street scenes, and footage of the rhythm section behind the track in the studio and also live. The video features legendary bassist and producer Bill Laswell, drummer Lockatron, turntablist DJ Logic, and Nevaris on percussion.

"Interference is my favorite track off 'Reverberations' and the video captures some of the energy of NYC that has been a part of my life for so long. The A train, the West Side Highway, 14th Street, 181 Street, and the studio in West Orange New Jersey are all captured here, in addition to the shots of 5 Pointz from the 7 train from when I was working out of LIC for a while," says Nevaris.

"There's an energy when you move through the streets of NYC, especially at night. I enjoyed trying to capture that a little bit through the video both in terms of sound and the visual elements. I hope people enjoy it."

'Reverberations' is the third collaboration between Nevaris, Bill Laswell and this lineup of musicians (DJ Logic, Will Bernard, Peter Apfelbaum, Lockatron) with the addition of Matt Dickey. On this release, they focus more on the dub aspects of their sound. The artists' New York roots shine through. Bass, percussion, drums and turntables take center stage, with a sound that channels the city's vibrancy.

Nevaris is a musician and artist of Mexican and European descent, who is heavily influenced by Afro-Latin, dub, and funk music. Prior to recording 'Reverberations', Nevaris recorded and performed with an evolving lineup of musicians under the name
Loud Apartment, most notably Bernie Worrell of P-Funk and Talking Heads fame.

"This record builds on the momentum from
'System Breakdown' and 'New Future', which we released in 2020 and 2022 as Loud Apartment. There were dub aspects of those recordings, so Bill Laswell and I decided to create a recording entirely focused on that sound. It was a logical next step and came together in an organic way. We let the music go where it needed to go," says Nevaris.

In addition to his work as a musician, Nevaris is a visual and multimedia artist, who has worked on a vast array of creative projects across mediums. He also co-founded Nolej Records, Nolej Studios and the Uncomun Festival.

'Reverberations' is out now, available from fine digital music platforms, including
Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp.

Manchester's Harry Stafford (Inca Babies) & North Carolina's Marco Butcher lay down the 'Rules of the House' ahead of new album

"Unapologetically weaving their way through varied genres, Stafford and Butcher’s bluesy story-based music is raw around the edges, while sucking you willingly inside – a sonic diamond in the rough, so to speak" ~ The Spill Magazine

"The symmetry between the two artists is remarkable... refreshing, meshing the grit of blues with an urban thematic. This is dirty but agreeable... Goes down smooth like a good shot of bourbon" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

Manchester underground music icon
Harry Stafford (Inca Babies) and US-based trash blues guitarist Marco Butcher present 'The Rules of the House', the second taster of their forthcoming album 'We Are The Perilous Men', out in September via Black Lagoon Records.

Directed by Harry Stafford with camera work by Marco Butcher and Jonny Stafford, the accompanying video was filmed in Wales and North Carolina in 2023.

On this track, Marco shows what a total stone rocker he is, with foot to the floor guitars and drums. Harry adds the story, which was inspired by a terse publican’s list of rules on the specials blackboard. Harry Stafford says, "I don’t remember them all, but 'get a round in' was definitely one of them".

Marco Butcher adds, "Rules of the House is a diabolical and swampy kind of song, mixing some sort of very solid groove with over-the-edge 'No Wave' type of guitars, cutting and dancing with the rhythm".

This single follows the release of the lead track
'Walk Among The Spectres', which explores our own fragile mortality, the video for which was filmed in the expansive Southern Cemetery in Didsbury South Manchester, which dates back to 1700 and was used throughout the Victorian era. Now a public park, people are invited to wander among the tombstones... to literally Walk among the Spectres.

Following the resounding triumph of their
'Bone Architecture' album in 2021, the duo present the second chapter of this exploration, upholding their lockdown-inspired tradition of sending ideas back and forth between North Carolina and Manchester. Creating this album unconsciously - perhaps even telepathically - their musical connection has ignited this album with an infectious energy and spirit.

Based in North Carolina, Brazil-raised trash blues guitarist Marco Butcher (Jam Messengers, Jesus and the Groupies) provides a solid backbeat, jumping with a frenetic rhythm. This foundation ranges from a mess of blues to a stumbling electro beat with Dwayne Eddie funeral guitar. His forages into dance and Hip hop see him mess with the rhythmic DNA, often inspiring the creation of a new dance shuffle at will.

'Rules of the House' is out now, available from fine music platforms, including
SpotifyApple Music and Bandcamp. The 'We Are The Perilous Men' album will be released on September 8 and will be available on black vinyl, as well as digitally.

New England Metal & Hardcore Fest launched back in 1999 and took place at the famed Palladium in Worcester through 2018. It was often held over two or three days, with multiple stages and top-tier acts like Megadeth, Manowar, DragonForce, Opeth, Between the Buried & Me, Meshuggah, Killswitch Engage, Suicidal Tendencies, Anthrax, and more appearing through the years. It was always a "who's who" of the metal and hardcore scene and was a "not to be missed" event each Spring.

It took a brief break after 2018 but it's back and better than ever.

The event returns as a two-day extravaganza on September 15 and 16. Parkway Drive and Lamb of God will serve as headliners, with an incredible roster of bands gracing three stages — two outside stages and the main room. VIP tickets are available

Also, E-Town Concrete and Swollen Teeth have been added to the lineup.

As part of the celebration, local brewery Tin Ridge Brewing is releasing a festival-inspired beer.

GO AHEAD AND DIE RELEASE MUSIC VIDEO FOR FIRST SINGLE 'TUMORS' + NEW ALBUM UNHEALTHY MECHANISMS OUT OCTOBER 20TH!

Arizona death-crusters GO AHEAD AND DIE will deliver their caustic sophomore album Unhealthy Mechanisms on October 20th via Nuclear Blast Records. A torrential whirlwind born from the livid minds of Igor Amadeus Cavalera (HEALING MAGIC) and Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY). This new installment to the band's dystopian catalog is a fresh dive into the madness of society and the pollution that ravages our minds.

The first taste of the album comes in the form of the single 'Tumors'. The headbang-inducing track is a call out to the backstabbers who are toxic and are the "tumors" of life that if left to spread can become cancer. Check out the animated video created by Romanian artist
Costin Chioreanu

Max Cavalera comments, "The new G.A.A.D. is on its way! More brutal, feral, extreme, and intense than ever before! The album goes in a deep dive into the mental health subject and it’s produced by Igor A! It’s by far the most anarchist record I’ve ever been a part of in my entire career!"

Igor Amadeus Cavalera states, "I’m so excited to release this monster of a record! This album will take you through the darkened madness of declining mental health. It is definitely the heaviest record I’ve ever created, and I can’t wait to unleash it on the masses! G.A.A.D.!"

Unhealthy Mechanisms was produced by Igor Amadeus Cavalera while John Aquilino handled the recording in his Platinum Underground Studio steeped in the mystic ambiance of the Superstition Mountains’ foothills. The mixing and mastering were once again handled by Arthur Rizk (CAVALERA, SOULFLY, TURNSTILE ). For the artwork, the band enlisted Santiago Jaramillo of Triple Seis Design to create the unnerving design that fits with the album title. GO AHEAD AND DIE's newest record is a testament to declining mental health around the world, and a reminder that we are not alone in our pain. The mind is lost. The fuse is lit. Time to set everything ablaze.

Unhealthy Mechanisms will be available digitally and in the following formats:

  • CD Jewel

  • Red Cassette (Limited to 400)

WORMHOLE Rage Against the Machine on New Single

WORMHOLE warp brutal riffs and screeching dissonance into a signature tech-slam combo. So it's no surprise that the Baltimore band are huge gamers. Their new album 'Almost Human' was inspired by stomping fools at Metroid and Doom as much as headbanging to Artificial Brain and Dysrhythmia.

Today, Wormhole are premiering a heroic new single with Slam Worldwide. Watch the monstrous visualizer for "Spine Shatter High-Velocity Impact"
below.

'Almost Human' comes out 22 September. Pre-save the album
HERE.  Pre-order it HERE.

"This song has our hero struggling as they make their last stand," says Wormhole. "They're desperately trying to rally, but despite their rage, they just keep falling apart. Is the impossible really going to happen? Is our hero, the one we love and cherish so much, really going to lose?"

"Spine Shatter High-Velocity Impact" might be the fastest and sludgiest song on 'Almost Human'. But it's definitely the most disgusting. Brothers Sanil and Sanjay Kumar scrape out stomach-churning riffs, while the rhythm section chews on the breakdown. Julian Kersey's death growl is so fierce and rotten, you can practically smell the stench wafting through your speakers.

When you invent your own genre, you can make the rules, and in space, no one can correct your math. If Wormhole’s excellent The Weakest Among Us was 50% tech death and 50% slamming brutal death metal, their Season of Mist debut is a veritable leveling up of the Baltimore-based act’s trademark “tech slam.” It’s the kind of record that can scramble your brain and give your neck a nice chiropractic workout; Almost Human feels like the future of extreme metal, dropped down from either outer space or delivered by Nintendo cartridge (more on that later).

So, what the hell exactly is “tech slam?” Well, the gleefully amorphous and unholy term comes from an ethos that guitarists Sanil “Noni” Kumar and Sanjay Kumar discovered and perfected over (probably) thousands of hours of Metroid and Doom games, as well as, you know, actual musical mastery. Almost Human, out September 22, 2023, is more powerful, more agile, and more confounding for pie-chart-enthusiasts than anything else that came before it. The sequel is always bigger, darker, and in this case, covered in much more pixelated space horror viscera. My Wormholio calculator puts their sound at 91% tech and 89% slam, with an increase in awesome stats somewhere in the 420% range. There’s also a clear emphasis on amplifying their dissonant death influence, the kind of eerie melodies that feel like being stomped on by Samus.

There’s a clear balance to everything on Almost Human: the songs are more adventurous while also being instantly memorable. No two songs sound alike, and that diversity in songcraft (level design?) sees Wormhole pushing and pulling along their tech and slam dials to figure out what’s best for the song; spoiler, it’s always riffs. What also becomes evident after repeated listens is how carefully the Kumar brothers understand a sense of place, humor, and a consistent vibe. This is still the same band that’s known for throwing on Saturday morning cartoons, and Almost Human continues to hammer home that Wormhole the musical entity is deadly serious, but the guys that make tech slam are not stoic creatures. There’s a warmth and sense of joy when chatting with them that only gets brighter when you ask their favorite Metroid game (that’s a question for a live show). So, what is this vibe they are chasing? Sanjay shares:

“The tech slam imagery is based on Metroid lore, Doom lore, and we haven't written a song about it yet, but Alien as well. Those three things are brutal sci-fi universes, so we're trying to embody that sound. The slam riffs, you can connect the brutal killing of stuff with the brutal chunky riffs; that's been a match that's existed since the nineties. So that's the slam part, and then the tech part was harder to fit that vibe, so we kind of do it differently. I lean into very dissonance-vibe stuff, like Artificial Brain and Dysrhythmia. I think disso-death and heavy, they aren't usually paired together, even though they should be.”

“And then as far as chasing the vibe,” Noni adds, “I kind of go about it two ways. With the Metroid soundtrack or universe, that vibe, there's some dark and gloomy atmosphere, but there's a lot of pretty imagery as well. We wanted to find a way to match that very pretty, kind of out-there sound cohesively in songs with a very aggressive and guttural approach.”

Like another famous sci-fi horror masterpiece of a different media, Wormhole’s shifting, amorphous style is perfectly suited to blend in and amaze just about any fan of heavy music. That’s The Thing: they can pull off whatever they want, but it’s always boiled down to that tech slam vibe. Do you like tech, melody, breakdowns, atmosphere, or dissonance? Tech slam can fill whatever void you seek.

If previous albums were early generation, lower-resolution visions of tech slam, Almost Human is the 4K reboot, where you can see every pixel of terror and awe. Wormhole are absolutely ready for their closeup. Prepare your worms and your holes, tech slam is here to stay.

Singer-Songwriter Milky Day Releases Emotionally Charged EP Impulses

Milky Day, the talented singer-songwriter and producer known for his unique blend of R&B and soulful melodies, has released his highly anticipated EP, Impulses. Accompanying the release, Milky has launched the presale for his first Vinyl, which you can purchase here while supplies last. An EP that was primarily written during Covid isolation; Impulses is not only a reflection of internal conflict and struggles, it's also a project written from the perspective of Milky reflecting on all the craziness of the world, from the "window" of his trapped environment. As the world grappled with unprecedented challenges during the pandemic, he goes back and forth between tracks and even sometimes within a single

track, talking specifically about his personal struggles and then switching the narrative to a much larger questioning of purpose and existence. Inspired by raw honesty and life's inevitable struggles, this body of work presents a departure from Milky Day's classic themes of love, instead offering an emotionally charged exploration of life's complexities and challenges.

At the heart of this exploration is the EP’s focus track, "Temptation," which represents the above mentioned perspective within the opening line; "Waiting for better days.” The overall lyrics hint at a dialogue with oneself, questioning if he can be greater than his past self, battling the desire for growth while being trapped in a dark path. This track serves as a powerful introduction to the overarching theme of the EP - grappling with impulses and their consequences. "Aura" delves into the actions taken as a result of these urges, and it unravels the internal struggle between fleeting desires and the longing for stability and self-control. The haunting and poignant "Losing My Grip" follows, shedding light on the aftermath of impulsive decisions. Milky Day's soulful vocals resonate deeply, expressing the sense of loss and confusion that arises when one feels disconnected from life's purpose and meaning. "Rest in Peace" reflects on the transformation and growth that occurs when one decides to break free from the grip of impulsive tendencies, letting go of one's old self and embracing new beginnings. Finally, the EP concludes with the uplifting track "So Good." In this song, Milky Day explores the idea of finding peace with his mind, bidding farewell to negative thoughts, and embracing a brighter future. The song's cheerful vibe towards the end indicates a sense of hope and resolution after the tumultuous journey through impulses and self-discovery.

"Through my observations and life experiences, I realized that everyone struggles with their own inner demons in some shape or form - so I've been exploring more general themes of life struggles and suffering through my music, as you'll hear in my upcoming EP," says Milky Day, shedding light on the inspiration behind Impulses. With Impulses, Milky Day seeks to raise awareness about the shared nature of life's struggles and offer solace to those facing similar challenges. Through his candid and soul-baring approach, he aims to connect with his audience on a profound level, letting them know that they are not alone in their battles and that healing is possible.

Hailing from New Zealand and educated at Amherst College in the United States, where he graduated with a double major in Math and Music, Milky Day is a rising star in the R&B scene. His technical prowess in music production, influenced by his mathematical background, is a testament to his commitment to his craft. Simultaneously, his exceptional songwriting skills showcase his boundless creativity and ability to connect with his audience. Milky Day has released several popular tracks, including "You'll Be Alright" and "Take it Slow," which have gained significant traction on streaming

platforms, with over 47 million combined plays on Spotify alone. Stay tuned for more updates on Milky Day's musical journey and join him as he fearlessly bares his soul through his heartfelt compositions.
