Covenant School Community Honored and Remembered with “Dandelions”

On March 27, 2023, Annie Bosko was just settling into a co-write session on Music Row when she heard the tragic news of the Covenant School shooting in Nashville, just a few short miles away. In disbelief, yet through an attempt to process the heaviness, Bosko and Danny Myrick put pen to paper. The heart-healing “Dandelions” poured out almost divinely and is now available in hope of inspiring further healing. 
 
Stone Country Records will be donating all proceeds from the song to ACM Lifting Lives to support mental health services for Covenant School families, faculty and staff. 
 
“I truly believe ‘Dandelions’ was divinely orchestrated, meant to serve a purpose,” shares Bosko. “Our hope is it brings peace and healing to those who are dealing with loss. Stone Country Records is such an incredible label partner as it was never even a question if we would donate the proceeds, they only asked ‘how can we have the most impact?’ After witnessing firsthand the healing power of music during my visit at The Covenant School and the Scruggs’ family home, to find a mindful partner like ACM Lifting Lives to support the Covenant Community in getting access to mental health services is a blessing.” 
 
Bosko first debuted the song at a gathering for some of the school’s families earlier this year where she saw firsthand the healing power of music. With students and friends of lost loved ones surrounding her and joining in on the chorus, it was that coming together that inspired her to share it wider. 
 
The dandelion captures the essence of a lifetime of wishes, and with that in mind, Bosko provides a powerful image of hope:

SiM Drops New Single + AI Music Video "HiDE AND SEEK" Taken From Upcoming New Album 'PLAYDEAD' Out On September 27 (via UNFD)

Genre-blending Japanese metal, punk, and reggae outfit SiM has today dropped their latest offering "HiDE AND SEEK" and the accompanying music video, created by AI visual artists The Dor Brothers. Drawing inspiration from a previously recorded reggae melody created during the lockdown in 2020, "HiDE AND SEEK" morphed into its final form when SiM vocalist MAH reconstructed the verse, changed the key of the melody, and added a chorus on a track that was originally written for the band's previous album "THANK GOD, THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF WAYS TO KiLL ENEMiES". Luckily, today's release can be found on SiM's upcoming new album 'PLAYDEAD' out on Friday, September 27 (via UNFD). When asked about the lyrical inspiration of the track, MAH shared:

"In [the children's game] ‘HiDE AND SEEK’, the equivalent Japanese phrase “Mouiikai” by the seeker is “Ready or Not”. But [in the Japanese version] the following response “Madadayo” meaning “not-yet (ready)” doesn’t exist in the English version of the game suggesting that the demons will come looking for you regardless of whether you’re “Ready or Not.”

Speaking about the incredible "HiDE AND SEEK" AI video, MAH commented:

“This is SiM’s very first AI-Generated music video. Will AI truly take over mankind one day?! I want people to embrace that “AI-nxiety” and enjoy the video.”

After making waves with their smash-hit singles "The Rumbling" and "Under The Tree" featured on the massively popular anime series "Attack On Titan", SiM has since released their lead single "RED", the theme song for the new season of the Netflix anime series "Kengan Ashura". Legendary guitarist Steve Hackett presents his brand new live audio/visual extravaganza, with the release of ‘Foxtrot at Fifty + Hackett Highlights: Live in Brighton’, set for release on September 15th, 2023.

Filmed & recorded live on his 2022 UK tour, in the coastal city of Brighton, UK, this release documents Steve and his band celebrating the 50th anniversary of the much-loved Genesis album ‘Foxtrot’. Played in full, this album features fan favorites including ‘Watcher Of The Skies’ and ‘Supper’s Ready’. The show also features a set of Hackett solo material, including The Devil’s Cathedral’ from his latest studio album ‘Surrender of Silence’, and the powerful ‘Ace of Wands’.

About Steve Hackett
Steve Hackett joined Genesis at the beginning of 1971 and gained an international reputation as the guitarist in the band’s classic line-up alongside Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins. Hackett’s intricate guitar work was a key element of Genesis’ albums from Nursery Cryme (1971) to Wind And Wuthering (1977) including the classic Selling England By The Pound.

After leaving Genesis at the end of 1977, Hackett’s solo career, which now spans more than 30 albums, has demonstrated his extraordinary versatility with both electric and acoustic guitar. Hackett is renowned as both an immensely talented and innovative rock musician and a virtuoso classical guitarist and composer and this was recognized in 2010 when he was inducted into the Rock Hall Of Fame. He has also worked alongside Steve Howe of YES in the supergroup GTR.

Hackett’s compositions take influences from many genres, including jazz, classical and blues. For his later studio works The Night Siren (2017) and At The Edge Of Light (2019) Hackett has explored the influences of world music. Recent tours have seen Hackett celebrate his time with Genesis including a spectacular 2018 tour in which he realized a long-held ambition to perform the works of Genesis live with his band and an orchestra. The lockdown enforced by the 2020 global pandemic has proven to be a particularly creative period for Hackett. He began by releasing Selling England by the Pound & Spectral Mornings: Live at Hammersmith, a live recording of 2019’s hugely successful tour celebrating that Genesis classic together with the 40th anniversary of one of his most-loved solo albums. Lockdown also gave Hackett the opportunity to write and record two new studio albums, the UK Classical Chart hit Under A Mediterranean Sky and the forthcoming Surrender of Silence.

In 2021, Steve and his band returned to touring, celebrating the classic Genesis live album ‘Seconds Out’, on what was one of his most successful tours to date.

The Dead Daisies are proud to release their “BEST OF” Album laden with eighteen tracks from six of the bands’ studio albums along with two previously unreleased songs. Masters of extreme metal RINGWORM have made their long-awaited return today with the release of their 9th full-length album, “Seeing Through Fire,” out now from Nuclear Blast Records. An auditory wrecking ball of filth, chaos and reckless abandon, RINGWORM sinks their teeth into listeners with pummeling tracks like “Thought Crimes,” “No Solace, No Quarter, No Mercy” and the devastating track “House of Flies.”

Founding vocalist Human Furnace stated on the album:

“We're pretty pumped on ‘Seeing Through Fire.’ It's a total burner. It's a straight forward, "smash your face and leave you layin' there wondering what you got hit with" type record. We've never felt the need to "re-invent our own wheel" but going into this one we tried some different things sonically, and we're very happy with the results. Of course, it's the intention, every time we record a new record, but we feel like the over-all sound, feel and aggression of ‘Seeing Through Fire,’ one ups many of our past records. “We wanted to go with a slightly different approach and look than the previous records, it’s a new era for us,” explains vocalist and founder James Bulloch, also known as the Human Furnace. “It’s a little bit of a return to our roots, you have those moments every so often where you wanna get back to your comfort zone, but at the same time you want to expand that comfort zone.”
 
A different level of sound quality was accomplished with “Seeing Through Fire” as technology allowed RINGWORM to banish any previous restrictions laid upon them during the production and recording processes. Working again with Noah Buchanan of Mercinary Studios in Cleveland, this was the first time everything, including vocals, was all recorded in that same space.
 
With “Seeing Through Fire” recorded and artwork prepped, the album was packaged and ready to go when Nuclear Blast Records became aware of RINGWORM’s motivation to unleash it in 2023. “We’re fortunate to be able to work with Nuclear Blast, especially at this stage. It opens up a lot of doors for us, and a lot more people can hear what we do. We’re looking forward to working with them; it’s nice having their team, their machine, built around us.”

Manchester underground music icon Harry Stafford (Inca Babies) and US-based trash blues guitarist Marco Butcher present 'Walk Among The Spectres', the loaded first shot from their forthcoming album 'We Are The Perilous Men', coming this autumn via Black Lagoon Records.

'Walk Among the Spectres' is a cool piece of walking blues, with percussive Hammond organ and Marco Butcher’s laconic backbeat. The song is about an old friend who is fondly remembered and, in the video, our hero travels across town to put an electric piano-keyboard on his grave, discovering his own fragile mortality along the way.

Directed by Harry Stafford with cinematography by J.P. Conway, this video was filmed in the expansive Southern Cemetery in Didsbury South Manchester, which dates back to 1700 and was used throughout the Victorian era. Now a public park, people are invited to wander among the tombstones... to literally Walk among the Spectres.

Following the resounding triumph of their 'Bone Architecture' album in 2021, the duo present the second chapter of this exploration, upholding their lockdown-inspired tradition of sending ideas back and forth between North Carolina and Manchester. Creating this album unconsciously - perhaps even telepathically - their musical connection has ignited this album with an infectious energy and spirit.

Based in North Carolina, Brazil-raised trash blues guitarist Marco Butcher (Jam Messengers, Jesus and the Groupies) provides a solid backbeat, jumping with a frenetic rhythm. This foundation ranges from a mess of blues to a stumbling electro beat with Dwayne Eddie funeral guitar. His forages into dance and Hip hop see him mess with the rhythmic DNA, often inspiring the creation of a new dance shuffle at will.

“I have discovered that I spend a lot of my time knowing what I don’t want to sound like. My musical education began with punk and then, when I came to University in Manchester in the early 80s, I found myself submerged into the strange beat infused darkness of the Big city post punk music scene (Joy Division, ACR, The Fall) and I had to form the Inca Babies to make sense of it all," says Harry Stafford.  

"Now 40 years later, while I have never forgotten that seismic guidance, my interests, and influence stretch so far, I need someone like Marco to constantly surprise me.”

On August 2, 'Walk Among The Spectres' will be available from fine music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. The full album 'We Are The Perilous Men' will be released on September 8 and will be available on black vinyl, as well as digitally.

"I am so excited to finally be sharing 'Garden of Earthly Horrors' with all of you. 'Garden' is a project I started in late December 2022-early January 2023, and was born out of a desire to create a conceptualized piece of artwork, thematically linking existential horror to the beauty of nature and its systematic destruction by capitalist forces.

"Garden of Earthly Horrors' instrumentally explores tranquility, panic, and heartbreak through the lens of darkwave dance music. Much of 'Garden of Earthly Horrors' was inspired by my childhood love of freestyle and dance music, and the new school of darkwave dance music being released these last several years, as well as local NYC darkwave DJ dance events events.

"The completion of 'Garden' in June of 2023 was my first foray into an entirely digital production, formerly having recorded directly to tape and then digitizing. Early reviews for 'Garden of Earthly Horrors' have referenced science projects connecting mushrooms to electrodes, and the sensation of environments and soundscapes being created around them."

"Orchid" is taken from CHARITY KILL's upcoming album, 'Garden of Earthly Horrors,' which will be digitally released on all platforms on August 18, 2023.

Charity Kill is the solo debut electronic darkwave dance project from New York City musician Ashley Dalle (ex-Wax Girls, ex-Trash Music). After a long hiatus from punk and goth bands, she began churning away synth melodies in the dark at home. Charity Kill will stir up your deepest desires and lay them all out on the dance floor.

The new EP, 'Garden of Earthly Horrors,' is a call and response to the overwhelming font of externalized emotions. The EP plays with melody as a vessel for the listener to be one in with Dalle’s emotions as she dances through her garden of romantic longing and existential dread.

BRUJERIA | RELEASE MUSIC VIDEO FOR SECOND SINGLE 'BRUJA ENCABRONADA'

Mexican death grind band BRUJERIA put the world of cartels and ritualistic murder on wax with a brutal power equivalent to when Compton arrived in pop culture via NWA. On September 15th, the band will unleash their fifth full-length album Esto Es Brujeria onto the world via Nuclear Blast Records.

'Bruja Encabronada' is the second single to be released from the upcoming album. Watch the music video which includes live footage taken by Roel Verscheure (GRIMM Gent) and Emerik Siimessalmi.

Esto Es Brujeria was recorded worldwide at the following studios: Dog Run Studio in Riverside, CA; Total Annihilation Studios in East Los Angeles, CA; Robanna’s in Birmingham, UK; and Audiocustom in Santiago, Chile. Production of the record was handled by the band while engineering was a joint effort between Eddie Casillas, Eddie Rivas, and Miguel Seco. The mixing and mastering of the album was completed by Seba Puente who was also a part of the engineering team. The album artwork was created by Gary Ronaldson. Esto Es Brujeria saw the return of their metal mascot Coco Loco who is emblazoned on the ferocious cover.

NYC-based artist Guitarmy of One has released his adventurous crowdfunded album ‘The Wave Files’, mixing dark ominous guitar riffing with surf guitar swells and foreboding reverb drenched melodies.

This is surf rock with a gothic edge from guitarist Scott Helland, an ex-hardcore punk bass player turned instrumental songwriter, whose first band (Deep Wound) was formed with alt-rock trailblazers J Mascis and Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr). He would later join hardcore/ crossover thrash stalwarts Outpatients, School of Violence and Darkside NYC before ultimately forming post-punk duo Frenchy and the Punk in 2005.

This solo project combines the thrilling sounds of spy-themed instrumental surf guitar music with punk vitality. Taking listeners on a sonic adventure to the realms of intrigue, danger and surf-soaked excitement, Helland channels that raw and unconventional spirit into a quirky fusion of genres.

Guitarmy of One recently released  'Soylent Seafoam Green', inspired by the 1970s cult sci-fi movie 'Soylent Green', having earlier released 'Kolchak meets the Sea Mobster', with a Spanish guitar-influenced twist and lead track ‘Top Secret Agent Man on a Wire Tapped Phone at Sea’, along with its fun spytastic video.

This record picks up where his latest album 'The Spy Detective Collective’ left off. Helland explains, "I wanted this album to be music you want to travel with - in your mind or physically. It’s action music, and I think it should ignite your imagination and take you on a journey. Wordless music relies on the visuals it creates so if it can take you on a sonic adventure across continents, or at least counties, my work is done. The idea for this album is rooted in spy and detective shows from the 60s, 70s and 80s. I want the music to be a sonic equivalent of those shows and movies where you’re riding the waves of intrigue and espionage so the music has to match that sense of urgency and excitement."

As a full-fledged espionage-inspired surf rock act, Guitarmy of One takes us on a thrilling musical journey, blending the realms of instrumental guitar, surf music and the mystique of spy themes within the one person band format. Helland weaves his mysterious and generous acoustic-electric melodies over propulsive spy riffs and electro beats, layering and building patiently toward engrossing payoffs.

Influenced by Spanish guitar, punk and metal, Guitarmy of One conjures up images of secret agents, high-speed chases, and hidden agendas through his intricate layered compositions. His mix of surf guitar techniques (i.e. reverb-drenched chords, lightning-fast tremolo picking, and tremolo bar vibrato albeit with a Bigsby bridge pedal) creates a sonic landscape that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking.

As of August 18, 'The Wave Files' is available across digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp, where the full album can also be ordered on CD.

Prog metal voyagers NIGHT VERSES have announced their phenomenal new double album ‘Every Sound Has a Color In The Valley Of Night’, with Part 1 due out September 15th, 2023 via Equal Vision Records, pre-orders are available now HERE. Last month, the band released comeback single “Arrival” which marked their first new music in 5 years and heralded the end of their hiatus. Now, “Karma Wheel” offers fans a second glimpse into NIGHT VERSES' boundary-pushing new era.

‘Every Sound Has a Color In The Valley Of Night’ will be released in two parts. Part 1 coming September 15th and Part 2 due out in early 2024. Across both parts the album features a star-studded cast of guests including Tool bassist Justin Chancellor, Author & Punisher, Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd and Circa Survive's Anthony Green, 'Every Sound Has A Color In The Valley Of Night' sees NIGHT VERSES tear up the rulebook with a kaleidoscopic vision and truly living up to the accolade given to them by Noisey who referred to the band as “the Salvador Dali of Progressive metal”.

ABOUT NIGHT VERSES: 

Hailing from Fullerton, CA, NIGHT VERSES first galvanized listeners with their 2012  EP ‘Out Of The Sky’, merging prog, alt-metal, post-rock and ambient electronica into their own intoxicating strain of cinematic metal.

They continued to hone their bold songwriting and genre-bending musicianship on their debut full-length, 2014’s ‘Lift Your Existence’. Wallen Caps Three Nights at Fenway with MWF Grant to Red Sox Foundation Renovating Local Field

Morgan Wallen celebrated three consecutive nights at Boston's Fenway Field this week by giving back to the local community via his Morgan Wallen Foundation (MWF). Along with CVS Health Charity Classic, MWF provided grant funding to the Red Sox Foundation that will bring a comprehensive renovation of the Howard Playstead Fields (Playstead Park) in Lawrence, MA. Playstead Park is home to the Lawrence Red Sox Foundation Nike RBI program, and the field enhancements will improve programming for youth baseball and softball leagues across Lawrence.

The contributions from MWF and CVS Health Charity Classic will be utilized to enhance the overall conditions of the fields, creating an environment that fosters skill development, teamwork, and camaraderie among the youth participants. 

“Our goal with the Morgan Wallen Foundation is to be sure that kids have access to sports and music programs. I played baseball most of my life. It’s where I learned perseverance, patience, sacrifice, among many other things that I carry with me to this day. We are honored to partner with the Red Sox Foundation to renovate these ballfields in Lawrence. Where kids for generations to come will learn similar qualities and hopefully become good ball players in the process,” said Wallen.  "And I couldn’t be more excited to play three shows at Fenway. It’s a dream come true for this baseball player."

The Red Sox Foundation Nike RBI Lawrence program, launched in 2022, has been instrumental in revitalizing baseball and softball in the Lawrence community. The program is dedicated to offering accessible and affordable baseball experiences to local youth, cultivating their passion for the game and reigniting the excitement and enthusiasm that surrounded baseball and softball in the past. The ultimate goal is to elevate youth participation to levels seen in 2010, nurturing a new generation of skilled and passionate athletes.

A thumping bassline cruises straight through the track, as a Dr. Dre-style Moog synth wheezes, strings swell, the beat smacks, and a guitar solo wails. Atop this backdrop, Pretty Sister paints a picture of hedonistic summer bliss complete with stolen sangria, Swisher sweets, and joyrides in the back of a pickup truck on the freeway. Speaking on the inspiration behind "Summer of Santeria", Pretty Sister shares:

"I wrote this song from the perspective of 11-17 year old me. Growing up fast in LA, it’s an ode to that. those stupidly reckless summer nights riding standing in the bed of my best friend's Silverado, speeding down the 101 freeway without fear or any real grasp of consequence. It’s sneaking out to skate the venice boardwalk. smoking cigarettes in the Topanga Mall Stairwell in 6th grade and using every free tester at Bath & Body Works to cover up the smell before our moms picked us up. It’s the magic of your first swisher sweet, first rush of a Marlboro Red and first buzz. It’s the magic of that time, those few “coming of age” Summers we can all count on one hand."

Vocalist Tyler Ennis comments, "I wrote 'Holy' after a relationship which meant a lot to me ended. It was difficult, I wanted to apologize for who I was and 'Holy' is how I made my best attempt. All in all, 'Holy' is about holding yourself accountable and realizing that it's possible that you were the reason why something, in this case my relationship, didn't work out the way we had wanted it to."

IGNESCENT, Chicago-Based Hard Rock Band Led by Female Vocalist, Signs with FRONTIERS MUSIC

Ignescent, the dynamic hard rock band hailing from Chicago, is thrilled to announce their recent signing with Frontiers Music Srl, the esteemed Italian label known for representing rock giants such as Def Leppard, TOTO, Whitesnake, Journey, and Stryper, among others.

Jennifer Benson, the founder and frontwoman of Ignescent, expresses her excitement about the partnership, stating, "We are overjoyed to revitalize our brand and join forces with Frontiers. As musicians, we've dedicated ourselves to our craft for years, and it's crucial for us to align with a label that appreciates our journey and the effort we've poured into our music." The highly anticipated new album is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2023, with a series of singles leading up to including songs co-written with Disciple and with Jeremy Valentyne & Brandon Wolfe of the band New Years Day. Frontiers Music Srl (distributed by The Orchard/Sony) is poised to reach a much larger global audience. Their music video will feature Billy Grey of the band Fozzy and will be directed by JT Ibanezwho recently worked on the latest music video for Sevendust for their song "Superficial Drug".

In addition to their record deal, Ignescent has kept busy this Spring with headlining appearances at notable festivals including EXODO FEST in Mexico and REVELATION ROCKFEST in South Carolina. They also recently played at Lakes Jam Festival on the MAIN stage with Skillet. They will be playing with The Letter Black and Seventh Day Slumber August 19 in Unity, WI and at the Canopy Club on October 11th with September Mourning in Urbana, IL. Jennifer has been invited to sing at Petra's 50th Anniversary bash in Nashville, TN on November 4th.

Ignescent, was founded by Jennifer Benson. Since 2018, the band has been primarily touring throughout the Midwest and Nashville area. Ignescent's recent single, "Remnant", hit #46 on Billboard Rock Charts. Ignescent’s first CD, Electrified, was produced by 4 time Dove Award winning & Grammy Nominated producer Travis Wyrick (10 Years, P.O.D.) and recorded at Lakeside Studios in Knoxville, Tennessee. The first song on the CD, “Calling Out to You”, was co-written with former lead guitarist of Skillet, Ben Kasica, and hit the top 30 on Billboard Rock Charts. Jennifer co-wrote a song with Sameer Bhattacharya of Flyleaf. Sameer played with Ignescent at their CD Release show in March 2022. Ignescent's song "Into The Night" was produced by Cameron Mizell (Memphis May Fire, Sleeping With Sirens) and has been played at radio stations all over the world.

"You Got Me", has also seen some radio across the country. "Exodus" was co-written with Jeremy Valentyne of New Year’s Day.

Ignescent has had the honor of opening for Stryper, Flyleaf, Eve 6, Megadeth, Saliva, Lacey Sturm, Otep, Fight The Fury - featuring John Cooper of Skillet, Buckcherry, Dan Sperry of America's Got Talent, Meytal Cohen, Another Lost Year, Art of Dying, Letters From The Fire, Like a Storm and has played at fests with Switchfoot, Colton Dixon, Memphis May Fire, The Devil Wears Prada, Veridia, Building 429, Chris Tomlin, and TobyMac.
