PRETTY SISTER Evokes Reckless Youth With New Single "Summer of Santeria"

LA singer, songwriter and producer Pretty Sister has released brand new single, "Summer of Santeria" today. The release also heralds the announcement of his new label deal with The Penthouse/Sumerian Group. Encapsulating the magic and mischief of coming-of-age summers growing up fast in California’s San Fernando Valley “Summer of Santeria” is available to stream HERE and the video can be watched HERE or by clicking the image below.

A thumping bassline cruises straight through the track, as a Dr. Dre-style Moog synth wheezes, strings swell, the beat smacks, and a guitar solo wails. Atop this backdrop, Pretty Sister paints a picture of hedonistic summer bliss complete with stolen sangria, Swisher sweets, and joyrides in the back of a pickup truck on the freeway. Speaking on the inspiration behind "Summer of Santeria", Pretty Sister shares:

"I wrote this song from the perspective of 11-17 year old me. Growing up fast in LA, it’s an ode to that. those stupidly reckless summer nights riding standing in the bed of my best friend's Silverado, speeding down the 101 freeway without fear or any real grasp of consequence. It’s sneaking out to skate the venice boardwalk. smoking cigarettes in the Topanga Mall Stairwell in 6th grade and using every free tester at Bath & Body Works to cover up the smell before our moms picked us up. It’s the magic of your first swisher sweet, first rush of a Marlboro Red and first buzz. It’s the magic of that time, those few “coming of age” Summers we can all count on one hand."

IGNESCENT, Chicago-Based Hard Rock Band Led by Female Vocalist, Signs with FRONTIERS MUSIC

Ignescent, the dynamic hard rock band hailing from Chicago, is thrilled to announce their recent signing with Frontiers Music Srl, the esteemed Italian label known for representing rock giants such as Def Leppard, TOTO, Whitesnake, Journey, and Stryper, among others.

Jennifer Benson, the founder and frontwoman of Ignescent, expresses her excitement about the partnership, stating, "We are overjoyed to revitalize our brand and join forces with Frontiers. As musicians, we've dedicated ourselves to our craft for years, and it's crucial for us to align with a label that appreciates our journey and the effort we've poured into our music." Ignescent, was founded by Jennifer Benson. Since 2018, the band has been primarily touring throughout the Midwest and Nashville area. PLAGUESTORM Unleashes First Single from Upcoming EP, "Empty Eyes"!

Argentinian solo artist Plaguestorm, the formidable force in the realm of Melodic Death Metal, is set to captivate fans once again with his brand new 3 track EP, entitled Empty Eyes. Following their earth-shattering return with an announcement of a world tour, new single, and epic, 11-minute cinematic video for title track "War Of Being," TesseracT continue their journey into The Strangeland in the form of new single "The Grey."

"The Grey" builds on signature grooves that undulate in TesseracT's sound, flanked by polyrhythmic rhythms tied together by the band's iconic melodies. It's yet another example of the multi-faceted appeal of their sound and proves that they can craft immediate and affecting tracks just as masterfully as their epic 11-minute opuses. 

Regarding the track, Amos Williams says, "'The Grey' explores the story and character within The Strangeland of the same name — a character who has suppressed their own voice to the point that they have blended into the shadows, their story lost amongst the white noise of the world. Through the song, we experience their journey as they wrestle with their frustration and sorrow at how they have ended up this way. 

"It's a powerful, energetic piece that pushes each member of TesseracT to a next level of musicianship and expression. And continues to shine a light upon the diversity that can be expected from War Of Being."

Alongside the release of the single is a fully functional, immersive video game titled "War Of Being." Launched on August 11, the user can enter the world of the album bridging the gap between listening and experience to create a living, breathing concept that brings you closer to the world of TesseracT than ever before.

In celebration of the early access game, the band have made a visualiser for the single which incorporates areas seen in the game alongside the track itself. The visualiser was made by Amos Williams.

In the game's 'Early Access’,'fans can expect to explore several surreal landscapes, meet characters from the concept of "War Of Being" and solve puzzles in order to unlock parts of TesseracT's second single "The Grey." The end of the game will unlock the full song where the play can listen from within the same breathtaking landscapes used in the "War Of Being" music video.

After finishing the album recording in August 2022, singer and frontman Daniel Tompkins immediately began his focus on developing "War Of Being" VR and desktop computer game based entirely on the album's original concept, created by Williams and himself. Tompkins is the lead designer and developer of the game alongside Adam Boyt (Programmer/Developer) and Kirsty Harvey (3D Designer).

Regarding the game, Tompkins says, "As a keen gamer and livestreamer, I have always understood the potential waiting for a musical project to bridge the gap between the gaming and music worlds and with such a visually stunning concept, I could see that this was the perfect opportunity to bring it to life in virtual reality and as a desktop game. This has been without a doubt the biggest project I have personally ever undertaken and is a huge achievement for our developers. It has pushed us to our absolute limits and I'm so proud to have accomplished the beginnings of a fully developed game on Steam."

The game will be available exclusively on Steam and playable in VR on Viva/Rift S and Oculus accompanied by a SteamDeck playable version.

War Of Being was recorded at Middle Farm Studios in the United Kingdom with Peter Miles (Architects/Sylosis/Dodie) co-producing with the band alongside Katherine Marsh of Choir Noir (Bring Me The Horizon/Architects/Marillion). Assisting with additional programming and production, the band was joined by Randy Slaugh (Periphery, Architects, Devin Townsend), with additional engineering by Forrester Savell (Karnivool). The artwork, which features characters "ex" and "el," was created in collaboration between AI and human as a means to extend the concept into its presentation.

DEBUT ALBUM IMPII HORA OUT SEPTEMBER 29 VIA METAL BLADE RECORDS

For more than 20 years, vocalist/guitarist Michael Poulsen has been spearheading Danish rock and roll machine Volbeat, releasing eight full-lengths, selling millions of albums, and filling stadiums worldwide. Before fronting Volbeat, however, Poulsen formed death metal band Dominus, which recorded four fast, brutal albums in the mid '90s. When Poulsen was putting together songs for Volbeat's 2021 album, Servant of the Mind, he wrote a bunch of death metal riffs and saved them on his phone. Then, when he was done with the Volbeat record, he reopened the rusty gates to Armageddon and started putting together songs for his new death metal band Asinhell, whose debut album Impii Hora (Latin for "Ungodly Hour"), is a tribute to Poulsen's favorite old-school groups.

"'Island of Dead Men' was the second song I wrote for the album," says Poulsen. "It's one of the faster and more aggressive songs on the record, but with a groovy Death chorus and a solid middle piece that hails the mighty Autopsy. Enjoy… or don't!" 

Poulsen has rekindled the death metal fire that fueled his first band Dominus. He began jamming on riffs with longtime friend and neighbor, drummer Morten Toft Hansen (Raunchy). The two started playing in Morten's tiny garage: no mics, no P.A. — just a drum kit and a combo amp turned all the way up like they used when they were teenagers. Soon, the pair were completing a new song every time they got together. When it came time to add vocals, Poulsen turned to his good friend, who also happened to be one of his all-time favorite death metal growlers: Marc Grewe (Insidious Disease, ex-Morgoth).

"I had known Michael quite a long time and he always mentioned that we should do a death metal project one day, but I never took him too seriously because he was so busy with Volbeat," Grewe says. "Then he called for real and said, 'Yeah, I want to do it now. Are you up for it?' Immediately, I was like, 'Yes, of course!'"

With Asinhell fully formed, the three convened with Volbeat producer Jacob Hansen to produce, mix, and play bass on their debut album. When it was time to add lead guitar to the album, Michael looked no further than friend and The Arcane Order axeman Flemming C. Lund.

Ministry Announces 16th Album “HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES” Coming March 1, 2024

As the world continues hanging on by a thread through pandemics, wildfires, climate change, social-political chaos and social media-fueled conspiracy theories, at least there’s Ministry to get us through. Industrial provocateur Al Jourgensen is ready to unleash his latest missives with Ministry’s groundbreaking 16th album, HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES, slated for release March 1, 2024 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Today, the six-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated multiplatinum act gives the first taste of the new material with the official release of “Goddamn White Trash,” featuring Pepper Keenan, a song that made its debut on Ministry’s headline tour earlier this year.

Over the course of 9 tracks, Jourgensen is righteously cantankerous as ever about a f***ed up world ripe for a boot up its ass. Like always, he's merely looking around at the same dumpster fire we all are, but he's got a microphone and uses it well to rage on about the state of the world.

“Just like you or anybody else, I’m simply a passenger in this lifetime,” says Jourgensen. “I’m watching social changes, political changes, and economic changes, and I comment on them because I do have a First Amendment right. A lot of people say artists and athletes should shut up and play ball. No, I’m on this trip too. If I see something, I say something. That reflects on where each album goes. Instead of staying sedentary and singing about broken relationships, inner turmoil, or whatever is hurting this week, I comment on what’s going on from the perspective of a fellow passenger.”

Joined by Ministry’s current frontline of musicians – John Bechdel (keyboards), Monte Pittman and Cesar Soto (guitars), Roy Mayorga (drums) and Paul D’Amour (bass) – HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES also has a slew of special guest contributors including Gogol Bordello’s Eugene Hutz, long-time collaborator and Lard companion Jello Biafra and Corrosion of Conformity frontman Pepper Keenan.

ABOUT MINISTRY

Born in 1981 in Chicago, Ministry has been the lifetime passion project of founder Al Jourgensen, considered to be the pioneer of industrial music. In its early days, Ministry was identifiable by its heavy synth-pop material in line with the new sounds and technology that were being developed in the ‘80s. Ministry’s output began with four 12” singles on Wax Trax! Records in 1981 before the first LP With Sympathy in 1983 via Arista Records. As time progressed however, so did Ministry, quickly developing a harsher, and more stylized sound that the band soon became infamous for on seminal albums Twitch (1986), The Land of Rape and Honey (1988), and The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste (1989). With the release of Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and The Way to Suck Eggs (1992), Ministry hit an all-time high in the mainstream musical realm and received its first Grammy nomination. In total, Ministry has been nominated for a Grammy award six times. Eight more albums would follow before an indefinite break in 2013, only to be unearthed again in 2018 with AmeriKKKant, continuing to reflect Jourgensen’s views on the frightening state of society and politics. MEMBERS OF EVANESCENCE, ALICE COOPER AND GRANNY 4 BARREL ANNOUNCE NEW BAND “KILLINGTON PIT”

Born from the pandemic, this unique and unexpected collaboration features the theatrical Granny 4 Barrel singer Terry LeRoi, Alice Cooper bassist Chuck Garric, and a pair of Evanescence members – guitarist Troy Mclawhorn and drummer Will Hunt. To mark the new band’s formation, a cover of the 1983 Accept classic, “Balls to the Wall,” has been released as their debut single.

“From the moment we decided to record this track, it was pure magic,” recalls LeRoi. “Chuck, Will, and Troy went back-and-forth with digital files until we had the music dialed in. I’ve always been inspired by Udo‘s voice and singing style so I did my best to channel that while adding my own flair stylistically.” Terry continues, “Our manager Matt Holmes produced the vocals with me in New York and when we put it all together, we realized we had something pretty special going on. It was and is an honor to record music with these incredible musicians! We’re so stoked with the way that this legendary track came out!”

“I grew up listening and learning from bands like Accept when I was younger and just starting to play the guitar,” adds McLawhorn. “‘Balls to the Wall’ seemed like the right choice because of its popularity and badassness! I really wanted to do the guitars justice so I stick closely to the original parts with a little bit of my flavor on them as well.”

"It was so badass and fun to do this cover of ‘Balls to the Wall’ with the guys,” says Hunt. “I'm proud to call all of them friends. Each of them are musicians and performers that I love and respect. I saw Accept open for Ozzy on his ‘Bark at the Moon’ tour in 1984. It was their first tour of the US and ‘Balls’ was just starting to make noise over here. They absolutely blew me away that night! So cool to record this cover!”

Also, according to LeRoi, a special guest contributed backing vocals. “When it came time to record the choruses, it was myself, Matt Holmes, and Matt Pinfield in the studio. Pinfield happened to be in town and he said he was down to take a stab at the gang vocals with us. Fortunately, we all have good pitch (laughs). It all happened pretty organically and turned out amazing. I wouldn’t change a thing about it!”

“Balls to the Wall” is part of a larger body of classic metal/rock recordings Killington Pit will be releasing in the coming months. Over the last year, the band stockpiled epic cover versions of tracks and videos from Rainbow, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath and more. The chemistry between the foursome can be heard all throughout this impressive body of work.

“It’s an honor to be in the same room with these guys.” explains Garric, "Musicians that I respect and musicians with the spirit of rock n’ roll running through their veins.”

LeRoi: “Killington Pit is modern rock/metal with roots in classic rock but we’re really not trying to limit where this can go. There are so many collective influences between the four of us, I think sonically it’s going to evolve naturally. But rest assured the foundation of the sound will always be heavy. LeRoi adds “In addition to the cover album project, we are at the beginning stages of original music as well. We’re really looking forward to sharing the growing sound and image of Killington Pit!”

HOT MILK Release New Single 'BREATHING UNDER WATER" & Accompanying Music Video

HOT MILK have released their fourth single "BREATHING UNDERWATER" which precedes their debut album "A CALL THE VOID" out 25th August 2023.

BREATHING UNDERWATER, finds HOT MILK at their most vulnerable, swapping typical cocksure swagger for open-hearted honesty. A track co-vocalist, Han Mee describes as sounding "like when you break your own heart. To feel like you're drowning, gasping for air, frustrated and alone. This song embodies the emotion and spirit of our current headspace, and we feel it may be the most important song we've ever pulled from the universe. This is Hot Milk's true heart. Hot Milk is an emotion."

Stirring vocal harmonies, heartening string sections and effortless key changes find comfort in melodic and emotive balladeering and songcraft to create an impassioned sonic call to arms with Mee stating that “we needed to write this song as a cry to the outside world. Breathing Underwater is the beating heart and defining song off our debut album, it was written first and set off a chain reaction that moulded the feeling of A CALL TO THE VOID.”

For some, it might feel like a long time coming but Hot Milk always knew that when the time came to make their debut album, they had to be ready for it. It will be their loudest statement yet of who they are and what they stand for, an opportunity to show the world what they are made of.

Tracks on the debut album walk on a tightrope between the humorous and the serious, brimming with what might be called positive nihilism. They’re not so much finding the light in the dark as they are laughing because if they don’t, they’ll cry.

The first single ‘HORROR SHOW’, boisterously ushered in a new era of Hot Milk, one that is bolder, brasher, and more impactful than ever before. Premiering on Radio 1’s FUTURE ARTIST show Jack Saunders commented that “The odds are pitted against this band, it’s not often a traditional emo breaks through, but Hot Milk have fought the whole entire way to make their mark, find their way into your top tens, become a favourite for you, and Horror Show’s the best yet.”

The band have blossomed over the course of three self-produced EPs, this constant stream of releases has meant that Hot Milkwere never away from the spotlight – or the stages they call home. Their rise kept accelerating, taking them to stadium support slots with Foo Fighters, the main stages of some of the best festivals Globally, an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel in the US to tours with bands like Pale Waves and their own headline sold-out shows to over 50 million streams of the EPs alone. Crucially, however, they were giving themselves space to find themselves as artists.

The band recorded the album between Manchester, Los Angeles and Stockholm with the bands very own Jim Shaw at the Producing helm for the majority of the record, much like all previous releases. An element that has become so important to the band and allowing them to control just exactly what they want to be as artists.



A CALL TO THE VOID is the English translation of the French phrase l’appel du vide, referring to the brain’s trick of spotting opportunities to die. It’s the eerie jolt that is felt when you stand waiting for a train and the thought that you could jump, and end your life in a heartbeat, intrudes in your head. It’s that brief moment of being reminded of the fragility of existence. 

The most important thing for the band, however, is that these songs are written to scream from the speakers of the stage, and for their refrains to be screamed back at them by the adoring, tight-knit community they’ve built. “Live is where I’m happiest, live is where it’s home,” says Han. “We wrote songs with the intention of people going off, making you feel good, opening the pit up, letting go, crying, getting on your mate’s shoulders.  It’s church for us.” 

HOT MILK recently completed a tour of South America, a run of East Coast headline shows in the US ahead of their appearance at Adjacent Festival and have played various festivals this Summer including UK's legendary Download Festival. They will be appearing at Pride in Brighton and Reading + Leeds festivals in August. They will then perform a string of intimate acoustic shows in the UK around album release before hitting the road for their largest UK headline tour to date with Witch Fever and Modern Error in the fall. They then head to Australia to support The Foo Fighters on select stadium dates in December and were recently announced as support on the London and Birmingham dates of The Foo Fighters UK Stadium tour in June 2024.

Rob Roth's entry into the music scene has been nothing short of remarkable. After battling consecutive major sport related injuries and surgeries in his early 20s, he reconnected with the guitar, igniting a passion for music that he had never fully explored before. From the very beginning of his musical endeavors, Rob Roth's talent and potential were evident. In his first-ever vocal lesson in 2019 he received a profound compliment from his coach, when his voice was likened to the legendary Chester Bennington of Linkin Park. This comment served as a catalyst, fueling Rob's motivation to practice tirelessly throughout the pandemic, reaching a point where he felt compelled to pursue music seriously. Rob's musical transformation took flight in 2021, when he released his first-ever song and subsequently delivered an impressive repertoire of 11 tracks and an EP. Now, with the release of "Awol," Rob has expanded his horizons into production. In 2022, he focused on learning the art of production, even taking on an internship with his EP Co-Producer, Adam Clark. As a result, he has a collection of self-produced tracks ready for release in the upcoming fall/winter season.

"'Gaping Wounds of Earth' is a jarring and chaotic exploration into what it feels like to be uncomfortable in your own skin," the band says. "The spiral of a broken human continues. As in all our work, there is no light at the end of this tunnel."

END initially materialized during 2017. The group's From the Unforgiving Arms of God EP spawned the fan favorite "Necessary Death," and lead to a signing with label Closed Casket Activities. Highlighted by "Covet Not" and "Absence," the band bulldozed the senses with their 2020 full-length debut, Splinters From an Ever-Changing Face. Brooklyn Vegan hailed "Pariah" as "an absolutely filthy dose of modern metalcore," and Kerrang! went as far as to describe their debut LP as "catharsis fed through a distortion pedal and shaped into a dense, destructive wrecking ball." Perhaps, Invisible Oranges put it best" "These gentlemen have come together to summon a fury seldom heard on any album from the realms of hardcore, grind, and black metal…"

In 2023, the members congregated once again to write and recorded what would become this sophomore release. "Part of the goal was to do things our way," states Putney. "We didn't want to lean on our influences too heavily, whether it's in terms of production, guitar tone, arrangement, or other elements. We were like, 'Let's just make a record that sounds like END.' I feel like there's more of an identity to the band than there has ever been on this record." The final result is a unique blend of HM2 driven Grind and Metallic Hardcore cross over with moments of Industrial chaos over ten tracks. Featuring guest vocal appearances by J.R. Hayes (Pig Destroyer), Debbie Gough (Heriot), and Dylan Walker (Full of Hell), this Graphic Nature Audio recording clocks in over 30 minutes of unhinged aggression and grind. Produced and engineered by Will Putney and featuring the art of Alex Eckman-Lawn, this release pushes the complexity of END both sonically and visually. Vinyl comes packaged in a ten panel die-cut jacket, pressed on deluxe colored vinyl and with a digital download code.

Art of Shock Share "The Spark" — WATCH + LISTEN

Hollywood's ART OF SHOCK — frontman Art Geezar, lead guitarist Nicholas Ertel, bassist Brice Snyder, and drummer Adrian Geezar — recently announced their second album Shine Black Light, out September 8 via Century Media. Pre-order it here.

"This is about us individuals whose behavior is or has been akin to chain-smoking in a fireworks factory," says Art. "To those who've had to endure such souls as us, I truly apologize. Yet, for the unacquainted, may you believe this speaks of another tale entirely." 

The album takes a massive step beyond the thrashing intensities already synonymous with the speed-limit-shattering quartet from Dark Angeles. "Shine Black Light is an album that came out of extreme times," says Art. "The lockdown felt like the end of the world for us. Like many other bands at the time, we felt crushed. It was a frustrating time, but we also found some good in it."

When it came time to select a producer, ART OF SHOCK weren't afraid to step outside their own comfort zone. They tapped fellow San Fernando Valley native Taylor Young. Known largely as a band member of boundary-bursting hardcore acts, Twitching Tongues and God's Hate, as well as the man behind the boards for the likes of Drain or Suicide Silence, Taylor was hardly an obvious choice for the band. With that, ART OF SHOCK  2023 is a much more lethal proposition now than the band that made Dark Angeles in 2019. They've grown miles past the band whose story began several years ago in Mexico City. It was there that brothers Art and Adrian grew up, inspired by classic thrash and metal bands that became the fuel for their earliest musical endeavors. Their early ambitions and push to get out of their native country brought them to Los Angeles, where a scrappy lineup of ART OF SHOCK began to make a dent playing in Hollywood.

 ART OF SHOCK (rounded out by lead guitarist Nick Ertel and bassist Brice Snyder) have shared bills over the years with the likes of Trivium, Hirax, and Sacred Reich and the experience only strengthened the band's live presence, but it was on the road where ART OF SHOCK have become a machine. Now, months before the release of Shine Black Light, the band has already completed two high-profile support slots: the rescheduled Sepultura jaunt in late 2022 and a Southwest and Californian run with machete-wielding death squad Brujeria in March 2023.

Wrapped in a sleeve by the legendary metal cover artist, Travis Smith (Opeth, Nevermore), Shine Black Light is full of twists, turns and unexpected moments from ART OF SHOCK.

Shine Black Light is an album born out of chaos and frustration that’s  become the start of a new chapter for ART OF SHOCK. Their fuck-all attitude is finally paying off. "We've become the band that we always dreamed about being,” says Art. “Through successes and disappointments, we’ve never given up or let anything stop us. It wasn't easy but it's been worth it – and it feels like things are just beginning."

NYC-based alternative rock outfit Black Rose Burning presents their new single 'Night Terrors', previewing their third full-length album 'Ad Astra', due out in mid-September.

Formed in 2018 by instrumentalist, producer and engineer George Grant, Black Rose Burning also involves guitarist Frank Morin (World Inferno Friendship Society) and drummer Luis Infantas (Monster Zero).

“Night Terrors is pretty much straight forward - if you have them, then you know. If you don’t, imagine being in the middle of sleep - but feeling wide awake and in a nightmare. There can even be “monsters” that sometime remain in your consciousness even after you’ve woken up. Nasty business this. I tried to encapsulate the feeling in a song, but I’m not sure you could ever REALLY explain the experience. I haven’t had this happen to me in years, and I hope it never happens again honestly,” says George Grant.

“This new music marks the debut of the entire band recording together, instead of me playing all the instruments and programming drums. It takes everything to a whole new level in terms of feel and especially in musicianship.”

This single follows the lead track 'Sing to Me (E.L.E.)', released in June. Grant says, "'Sing To Me' is about that point in a relationship when things just aren't the same any more - the rough time before the breakup. That point where your partner doesn't seem to feel the same the way you STILL do. It can be devastating. You just want them to see you the way they used to - because you still care."

In 2021, Black Rose Burning released their second album 'The Wheel', mastered by Jason Corbett of ACTORS. one year after debuting 'The Year of the Scorpion'album.

George Grant's soulful vocal delivery, instantly recognizable voice, solid instrumentation crossing several genres are standout features of this music. Roughly 40 years of songwriting across various styles has helped George embellish on clever hooks, drive and the gothic-pop sensibilities of The Cult's early years.
 
'Ad Astra' was recorded in George’s own studio, PV Recording Company, which has hosted notable artists over the years, including Emelio Zeff China (Peter Murphy), Knox Chandler (Siouxsie And The Banshees), Chibi (The Birthday Party Massacre), Nellie McKay, Julia Marcel, Paul Bakija (Reagan Youth), Ego Likeness and Voltaire (with whom Grant also played bass for 10 years).

'Night Terrors' is out now exclusively via Bandcamp. The 'Ad Astra' album will be released on September 15 on CD and also available digitally from fine music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.  That same night, Black Rose Burning will be playing their album release show at NYC's Mercury Loungefor The Red Party.

Formed in the summer of 2019, The Lonely Ones are a four piece, vocal-oriented hard rock band with an ear for melody and a taste for success. The group features Marty McCoy on guitar / vocals, Tommy Johnson on drums, Jymmy Tolland on guitar / vocals and Tru Roberts on bass / vocals. Being no strangers to the hardships of the music industry, The Lonely Ones consist of former members of Bobaflex. Together, they knew what they wanted and knew how to get it; by combining their knowledge and experiences to achieve a common goal. With determined perseverance and an energized drive to triumph, they were ready to release their first two singles independently in March of 2020; with the titles “Eternal Sadness" and "The Lonely One."

A few months after their initial introduction to the world of rock, the band decided to take a major leap of faith and release their re-imagined version of Queen's classic song "Flash." There’s always the risk of scrutiny and criticism when it comes to covering classic songs, especially ones that are still regarded with high praise from the still thriving fan base, but the band was confident their rendition would not only honor the original but also garner renewed attention for the hit theme. Any doubts were squashed when the song and video were met with rave reviews, including those of Brian May from Queen and Sam J. Jones, Flash Gordon himself.

Brian May was quoted as saying, “What a fantastic cover! I didn’t realize they were going to go into The Hero and the whole reprise ... magnificent!"

Sam J Jones adds, "This is one of the best covers I have ever heard and seen. What a gifted group - The Lonely Ones are for every one of us, from the 1980’s to right now!"

Humbled by the response from fans, listeners and legends in the entertainment industry, the band was spurred on in their pursuit to create groundbreaking original music. In September of 2020, The Lonely Ones released another brand new single titled "Real Big Trouble." What started out as a fun and creative session quickly turned out to be one of their most rewarding. This is one of the heaviest songs the band has ever written, but it also gives a look into what sounds inspire them, such as Thin Lizzy and Beartooth.

By February of 2021, the band had signed on with Imagen Records and released another single called “Change the Station.” This release had 9 active rock stations add the single in the first week and they were a feature artist on Spotify's Rock Hard editorial playlist as well as over 100 other playlists in the first week as well.

The next release through Imagen was "Dyin' All Night Long" in June of 2021. A song about an abusive relationship and how often times excuses are made over and over for that person. The lyrics come from the perspective of a victim having had enough of it.

The band released two more singles titled "Gettin' High" (2021) and “The Way Out”(2022) via Imagen Records before ultimately going independent.
The band spent the summer of 2022 getting back to the grind and writing new songs. The Lonely Ones’ latest release "Bedroom Door" in October of 2022, is one of many to be debuted in the year 2023.

The Lonely Ones have played shows with Sevendust, Nonpoint, Fozzy, Royal Bliss, Seven Year Witch, Black Top Mojo, September Mourning and many more.

Last week, thousands of metalheads descended on the black metal mecca and witnessed legendary metal performances across several venues, including the legendary Grieghallen, where many seminal Norwegian black metal albums were recorded in the 90s. Highlights included a blistering performance of Eld in its entirety by Enslaved, demolishing sets from Norwegian heavy-weights such as Taake and Gorgoroth, a rare and devatstaing performance from Nidrosian black metal enigma Mare, and of course, a rare and special 30th anniversary set by Dimmu Borgir, who broke out songs that haven't been played in decades!

Since the inception of the Beyond the Gates festival, fans have been coming to Bergen to see performances of their favorite Norwegian artists in their home environment. As most visitors know, nature and local culture has always been a poignant source of inspiration for the bands emerging from the Bergen scene. Yet again, Beyond the Gates will give all of the traveling fans the opportunity to get an unique insight into all aspects of the Norwegian Metal scene and the local culture in general. In that regard, we’re putting together a series of events before and during the festival so that all of you can discover what inspired – and still does - the Norwegian metal scene.
