Shadows Fall, who were at the forefront of the New Wave of American Metal scene that dominated the '00s, are back with a brand new song and a new label! The band has shared the new single "In the Grey." Watch the video below.

The band — singer Brian Fair; guitarists Jonathan Donais and Matt Bachand; bassist Paul Romanko; and drummer Jason Bittner— is also thrilled to announce it has signed with MNRK Heavy.

The song is classic Shadows Fall — galloping solos, riffs on top of riffs, three-tiered vocals, memorable, stadium-sized melodics, and introspective lyrics.

NYC's genre-fluid ECCE SHNAK delivers blissfully pensive 'Prayer on Love' single

NYC-based outfit Ecce Shnak presents 'Prayer on Love', the second offering from their forthcoming 'Shadows Grow Fangs' EP, slated for release on February 7 via Record Man, Records. A pensive track, its guitars richly textured, its snare drums rattling, 'Prayer on Love' sees frontman David Roush’s vocals at their most distinctively beautiful. With it, they have shared a video directed by Brooklyn-based cinematographer Milton Walker.
 
“‘Prayer on Love’ is our most whole-grain rock song to date," says David Roush, "It’s a meditation on the nature of love and its diverse manifestations. It honors the complexity of love without declaring that it ‘is all we need'. The last verse is a celebration of the unique love in each person, all of our flaws notwithstanding: ‘Still my love is a star / Still my love’s a precious opportunity / and a miracle / flowing down the river of consequences and circumstances / and a self-same being.’”

This follows their powerful single 'Jeremy, Utilitarian Sadboy' about 19th Century English philosopher Jeremy Bentham, combining math-metal, post-rock and choral anthems in just 150 seconds.

Recorded and produced byJeff Lucciat the Art Farm (NY), their debut EP was mixed byNicholas Vernhes (Animal Collective, Deerhunter, The Fiery Furnaces, Dirty Projectors, Wild Nothing, The War on Drugs) and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Greg Calbi (John Lennon, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Talking Heads, Patti Smith, Tom Petty, Todd Rundgren).

If there’s a fine line between wild-eyed, inspired genius and utter, irrepressible insanity, that’s where you’ll find Ecce Shnak, teetering on a neon tightrope. With Roush as composer, bassist, and one of two singers, he is joined byBella Komodromos(vocals),Chris Krasnow(guitar),Gannon Ferrell (guitar), andHenry Buchanan-Vaughn(drums).

This group subverts notions of style, playfully but reverently embracing multiple forms from across the spectrum, frequently within a single tune, while addressing weighty themes and notable trivia with striking articulacy. Roush notes, “Each genre has its own manner of expression, mannerisms, history, motivations, virtues, flaws, limitations, and so on. At my best as a composer and lyricist, I listen to and respect each one, then whatever I take from their souls informs mine, inhabiting it, expanding, and merging.”
 
'Shadows Grow Fangs' showcases Roush’s incomparable ingenuity and limitless invention over five songs, running the gamut from slow-burning meditations on love’s indispensability to mockery of the web from the perspective of a time-traveling poet – “What the fuck is the internet?!” Of course, this might sound a little ‘zany’, but it’s really not. Not at all. It’s intricately constructed, methodically fashioned, and – while undeniably offbeat – as serious and logical as it’s entertaining.
 
Talking with Roush is like meeting a thoughtful stranger with extraordinary knowledge of the weird and arcane, a fascination for society and what led us to where we are, and a noteworthy ability to share stories in an enlightening and empathetic manner. Then finally, while you’re still absorbing all the information he’s imparted, he’ll tie the knot to complete this elegant necklace. His narrative style, in fact, is much like listening to an Ecce Shnak song, which frankly makes the band's name perfect. “The meaning,” he concludes is, ‘look at this!’” (‘Ecce’ – Latin for “Behold!”)

Switzerland’s Paleface Swiss continue their unrelenting march towards the release of their third album, ‘Cursed,’ with the unveiling of their brand-new single, “Love Burns.” Following the intensity of previous tracks “Hatred”, which was recently included in Loudwire’s coveted ‘Best Rock & Metal Songs of 2024’ list and nominated for “Angriest Song of The Year” in Nik Nocturnal’s popular annual awards and “My Blood On Your Hands,” also nominated in Nik Nocturnal Awards 2024 for ‘Best Animal Noise, this latest offering delves deeper into the band’s evolving artistry, balancing their signature heaviness with an emotionally charged narrative. “Love Burns” picks up where “My Blood On Your Hands” left off, unfolding a fictional tale of love turned destructive. Opening with the chaotic brutality that fans have come to expect, the track crescendos into a hauntingly melodic conclusion, a move that highlights the band’s growth and willingness to push boundaries. Each track on the band's upcoming album is represented by a different flower, features on the album artwork. “Love Burns” is represented by the Cyclamen—a bloom associated with parting, resignation and saying goodbye.Frontman Marc “Zelli” Zellweger explains,

“‘Love Burns’ is a combination of the old and new, and it’s a song I’m immensely proud of. The story I want to tell is something everyone can relate to. The concept of the album, in which each flower represents an emotion and a track, makes it all the more cohesive for me.”

The band's upcoming third full-length, ‘Cursed’ is a masterclass in modern brutality and encapsulates two years of creative exploration and raw personal experiences for the Paleface Swiss members. The band retreated to the seclusion of the Canary Islands to craft this sonic juggernaut. Collaborating with Ron Steven Deris at Misueno Studios and with long-time collaborator Florent Salfati (Landmvrks) helping to add the finishing touches, their work culminated in an album that marries the band’s signature heaviness with intricate conceptual storytelling. The first single from the album, “Hatred”, was released in September, delivering the perfect blend of bombastic nu-core swagger, incendiary rapid fire vocals, thrash-inspired guitar solos and the pummeling rhythmic section the band have become globally renowned for. Dead American are a four-piece rock group hailing from Southern California fronted by vocalist Cove Reber (Saosin). Preceding the album's announcement, the band had released three new singles over the course of the past year, including "Cutting Yourself Out," which Reber described as "one of the darkest songs I've ever written. At its core, this song is about not speaking up. The disconnection we feel from those who love us while being at rock bottom will only get worse if you don’t speak up."
  
In October 2023, the band unveiled a new single and music video, "ADD." Reber described "ADD" as "about the difficulty of finding balance when your mind is moving a million miles an hour. Sometimes I feel like I'd rather hold my breath than deal with the constant shuffle of thoughts in my head."  
  
In February 2024, the band followed up with more new music in the form of the single "Into Oblivion." The singer stated that it is "a song about the pain of having to restart. “It’s inspired by the juxtaposition of this horrible post-truth era with its contradictions and the simple, metaphorical truths that began in ancient religions of the crumbling past. Somewhere between a biblical gospel and a Nietzschean nightmare. As a father, there’s a particular terror in seeing all that our grandfathers built, physically and morally, being torn apart and reduced to a commodity and wondering what kind of world my son will inherit.”

“I am by no means a philosopher – I desperately lack the patience,” A|V admits. “But my observations of the modern Western humane race have become particularly bleak, and this informs my lyrical writing process. Art as a reaction to life and experience. This is laid out in the first track, ‘A Legacy of Sores’, which posits that most of us here, in the current year, have become an alarming pairing of being both too sensitive and yet without any core beliefs to stand on. (‘Wet skin now paper thin, reveals a core of dust’) I think this is a mixture of a post-religious society and the acceleration of technology to the point at which its claws are deeply in us. Have you tried to live without a smartphone recently?”

'Existentialismus' was recorded and produced by Ian Boult at Stuck On A Name Studios in Nottingham, while the final touches of post-production and mastering were handled by Tore Stjerna (Watain, Mayhem, Deströyer 666) at Necromorbus Studios in Sweden. International powerhouse rock group W.E.T. are thrilled to return with their new single “Believer”, out now via Frontiers Music Srl. In addition to the release of the single, a visualizer for "Believer" is available for viewing below.

Guitarist Erik Mårtensson comments on the new single:

"'Believer' was written by Jeff, Robert and myself. Being able to throw ideas and thoughts around between the three of us really took this song from good to great. And having Jamie join us on the drums brought a new flavour to the rhythm section that sets a new standard for W.E.T. We may have to do more of this…”

The acronym W.E.T. comes from the members’ association with other bands, Robert Säll & Andreas Passmark from Work of Art, Erik Mårtensson & Magnus Henriksson from Eclipse and Jeff Scott Soto from Talisman. And now, for the first time ever, the T is emphasized as Talisman drummer Jamie Borger has joined forces with the band’s original core members.

W.E.T. truly epitomizes what melodic rock has become in the new decade. The key element at the foundation of W.E.T. has always been to create a modern melodic hard rock sound that will drive the genre into the future. Combining powerhouse rhythms and top-notch production (courtesy of Erik Martensson), the music is equally classic and contemporary.

Although a side project to the members’ original bands, over the course of the band’s existence, W.E.T. have reconvened regularly over the last 15 years to produce four studio albums and a live record.

Starting with a genre-defining self-titled debut, Robert Säll (the “W” from Work of Art), Erik Mårtensson (the “E” from Eclipse), and Jeff Scott Soto (the “T” from Talisman) accepted the daunting task to give that debut a follow-up, 'Rise Up'. After that stellar follow-up, their third opus, 'Earthrage', cemented a legacy of music which will stand the test of time.'Retransmission', their latest album, is nothing else than an absolute milestone, which is well in keeping with the tradition established by the three amazing records that have preceded this one.

Erik Mårtensson says:

“It’s always a challenge to find that sweet spot in our calendars when we are all available, not to mention the fact that Jeff lives in California and the rest of us in Sweden. But I also believe that adds to our ambition once we are able to gather. We are all aware that we don’t get too many shots at this, so when we do we gotta make it count.”

Award-winning multi-genre phenomenon Jelly Roll has shared the music video for “Run It” today. Last month, he initially unveiled the track as the only original song for the third installment of the beloved franchise, Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Watch the music video below. In the energetic visual, two worlds collide as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles race around an arena prior to Jelly Roll’s performance. The clip alternates between footage in the recording studio and scenes from the upcoming film. However, we also get to see the superstar like never before when Jelly Roll transforms into a video game avatar of himself mid-show accompanied by Shadow on the DJ decks! Collaborator David Guetta and stars Jim Carrey, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and more also make cameo appearances.

Jelly Roll notably co-wrote “Run It” with a powerhouse cohort of collaborators, including three-time GRAMMY® Award winner and OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, two-time GRAMMY® Award winner and superstar artist and DJ David Guetta, and GRAMMY® Award-nominated songwriter Sean Cook. Tedder, Guetta, and Cook co-produced the track as well. The song marks Jelly Roll’s first collaboration with Tedderand Guetta.

It continues what has become a tradition of high-octane bangers tailormade for the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Yachty, and Sueco the Child teamed up for “Speed Me Up” in 2020 to accompany Sonic the Hedgehog and Kid Cudi contributed “Stars In The Sky” to 2022’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2. As such, Jelly Roll finds himself in good company.

In other big news, Jelly Roll recently capped off his massive Beautifully Broken Tour with a sold out hometown headlining show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

Jelly Roll’s Billboard 200 #1 critically acclaimed sophomore country album, Beautifully Broken, is available now. Last month, he delivered two monumental performances as a three-time nominee at the 2024 CMA Awards. DAWN OF SOLACE Release Video for "Fortress"; New Album out February 14 on Noble Demon! ​

Finnish melancholic metal luminaries DAWN OF SOLACE are gearing up for the release of their fourth studio album, "Affliction Vortex", set to arrive on February 14, 2025, via Noble Demon. This highly anticipated follow-up to the critically acclaimed "Flames of Perdition" (2022) promises to be the band's most diverse and powerful offering yet. Following the release of the first single "Murder", today the band has given a further insight into their forthcoming album with the track "Fortress". The song is accompanied by a brand new music video, which you can watch below:

"Fortress shows a new kind of energy and progression in DoS music," explains mastermind Tuomas Saukkonen (WOLFHEART, BEFORE THE DAWN). "Definitely the most intensive song on the new album and first DoS song ever with a joined effort on lyrics. I teamed up with an Australian poet and his extremely powerful words were like a wind in the sails on the chorus."

Formed in 2005 as Tuomas Saukkonen's (WOLFHEART, BEFORE THE DAWN) creative outlet, DAWN OF SOLACE quickly established itself with their debut album, "The Darkness" (2006). Despite a hiatus due to legal complications, the band's loyal fanbase remained unwavering, keeping the flame alive.

A triumphant return came in 2019 with the signing to Noble Demon. This partnership revitalized DAWN OF SOLACE, leading to two successful full-length albums - "Waves" (2020) and "Flames of Perdition" (2022) - alongside an unplugged EP. In early 2024, the band entered the studio, determined to craft their most versatile album yet.

"Affliction Vortex" is the culmination of this creative evolution. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Saku Moilanen at DeepNoise Studios, the album promises to be a dark and captivating journey through the depths of Finnish melancholy.
