Pop Evil Announce Fall 2024 Headline Tour Plans

Modern rock powerhouse POP EVIL recently returned with the utterly scorching new single "What Remains." It serves as the dawn of a new era for Pop Evil, which the band promises will be its most sonically heavy. The song was No. 1 Most Added with 55 stations and just debuted at 33 on the active rock radio charts, and is climbing.

Today, the band announces its Fall 2024 tour plans. The band will embark on "The Animal Instinct Tour," which is a co-headline run with Bad Wolves. Sierra Pilot and Oni will serve as support. The trek kicks off October 30 in Jacksonville, North Carolina and runs through November 30 in Lexington, Kentucky.

About the new single, Kakaty stated, "Over the years, I've been faced with torment; departures, failures, and uphill climbs. It takes a reckoning to strip us to our core and confront our true selves. On our upcoming album, we have dared ourselves to make the most lyrically raw and sonically heavy album of our career. 'What Remains' sets the tone of what is to come."

Kakaty also confirmed the new lineup, saying, "We are also proud to officially announce the newest member of the Pop Evil lineup — Blake Allison." Allison is replacing departed member Hayley Cramer on drums, joining Kakaty and fellow bandmates, guitarists Dave Grahs and Nick Fuelling, and bassist Joey "Chicago" Walser.

In 2001, four Mexican American kids from the suburbs of East L.A. came together to form Audio Karate, their unique mix of melodic, emotional punk rock made it difficult to place them in any one genre but it also garnered a legion of fans. Their knack for writing infectiously catchy songs with deeply personal lyrics caught the attention of Kung Fu Records, who signed them in 2001 alongside bands like Blink-182 and Tsunami Bomb.

Audio Karate spent the early 2000s touring heavily and sharing stages with bands like NOFX, The Ataris, and Face to Face, among many Vans Warped Tour appearances. Their first studio album Space Camp was met with much acclaim from critics and fans and featured frequently on MTV and Fuse TV. 

Their follow up album Lady Melody was produced by Bill Stevenson of The Descendents and straddled pop-punk convention and technical oddity, with unique key changes and riffs that seemed to sound "wrong," while sounding gloriously right. Even Stevenson wondered how they did it, marveling at times during their recording sessions: "Technically, this shouldn't work."

Stevenson says, "Lady Melody will always mark a special point in time for me. We had so much fun together during the pre-production, and then during the recording! I love this band so much, and it has been such a great pleasure getting to know each of them. 'Jesus Is Alive and Well (And Living in Mexico)' is one of my favorite songs to have ever produced."

Corey Kent Teams with Lauren Alaina for Latest Release "Now or Never"

Sony Music Nashville artist Corey Kent has spent more than 15 years cutting his own path through a tangled wilderness of stumbles and setbacks … and never once come close to waving a white flag. The result…he is about to release his sophomore album, Black Bandana, Sept. 6, 2024 and will kick off his headlining Black Bandana Tour on Sept. 21. The platinum-selling Kent has given fans another taste of the upcoming  project today with the release of “Now or Never” featuring Lauren Alaina. "'Now or Never' is a song about drawing a line in the sand for yourself,” shared Kent. “It’s about loving somebody but refusing to let them continue to hurt you by taking a stand and asking your partner to make up their mind... 'You either love me or you don’t.’"

Written by Sam Ellis, Ryan Hurd and Geoff Warburton and produced by Chris Farren, “Now or Never” finds Kent channeling the ’80s-rock anthems that helped give his childhood a soundtrack turning it into an orchestral-rock power ballad... and a duet of epic emotional proportions. Featuring the crystalline vocal counterpoint of Lauren Alaina, a pair of lovers resolve to give their volatile connection a final ultimatum –make it work now, or break it off entirely.

A Bixby, Oklahoma native now based in Dallas, the proud husband and father has become a decorated artist on the rise, growing from humble heartland roots into a Platinum certified Number One hit maker with 940 million career streams, and a black bandana on his neck. But today, that Black Bandana is more than an accessory – and not just the name of his sophomore major-label album. It’s his rally cry.
 
“It started from riding motorcycles and wanting something over your face so you didn’t swallow a bug,” the singer-songwriter says. “But then it turned into a staple I wear on stage, and then a symbol of the path through my career, and life. Through all the ups and downs, the one constant thing was this relentless hope – this relentless pursuit of believing that if I don’t give up, I can get where I’m going.”
 
With a self-built story that has seen success and disaster, keeping that belief wasn’t always easy – but it’s been paying off. Rising from the vibrant Red Dirt country scene as the embodiment of authenticity, Kent set his sights on Nashville as a teen, bringing his self-penned catalog of country-rock anthems with him. But after the pandemic coincided with the loss of his first publishing deal, Kent was forced to move to Texas and get a job on a paving crew to pay the bills, yet he stubbornly refused to call music quits. Honky-tonks and dancehalls on both sides of the Red River became his stomping ground, and slowly but surely, the black bandana spirit grew.
 
Fast forward a few years and the hit single “Wild As Her” proved he was right all along. An untamed tribute to a free-spirited stunner, the track re-invigorated Kent’s career as a Platinum-certified No. 1 at country radio, and the lead single off his major label album debut, Blacktop. And while momentum kept building, with Kent hitting the road alongside Jason Aldean, Ashley McBryde, Parker McCollum and more, the mainstream moved to claim they knew it all along. Next-big-thing accolades came in from CMT, Opry Next Stage and more, but even as Kent became the most played new artist on country radio for all of 2023, he kept the underdog, who-cares-about-conventional-wisdom mentality. For Kent, the point was that his fans have the same independent spirit he does, and he took that lesson into his next chapter. Co-writing six of Black Bandana’s 10 songs, what Kent ultimately wanted was to mix themes of integrity, resilience and family with a sonic setting befitting the mission. “We all face our own demons. We all face our own setbacks, and I hope this record serves as encouragement,” he says. “It would be really easy to lean on the past and go ‘Look at what I’ve done,’ but I’m still excited about the records I’ve yet to create. I’m excited about the shows I haven’t played yet. I’m excited about unlocking new levels of my craft, and writing more songs that people connect with deeply. …I still live for those moments.”

Written by Gilbert with Josh Phillips, “Dirty Money” opens the project with a thunderclap of self-sufficient pride and wastes no time bringing the Georgia native’s world into focus, breaking through a peaceful calm with pounding drums, mile-deep distortion and Gilbert’s smoke-and-soul vocal:

Working with primary co-producer Brock Berryhill, Tattoos matches Gilbert’s ink in both striking design and depth of meaning. Defiled have long since mastered the vile art of old-school death metal. After 30 years of slicing and dicing, Defiled know where to stick the blade. The band's new title tracks shreds through the psychological horrors of mind control with riffs that are honed from their sharp influence of '80s thrash and hardcore. "The time has come", frontman Shinichiro Hamada spits at his captors with utter disgust. "Death strikes you with derision".

With three albums now under their belts in the past four years, Defiled certainly don't have the patience to suffer any fools. Halfway through its brutal punishment, "Horror Beyond Horror" is whipped along by a squealing whammy bar and blast beats that are more piercing and precise than a firing squad.

But the band aren't afraid to crack open people's skulls, either. "What sets Defiled's old-school approach apart from the plethora of modern imitators is a refined sense of songcraft", says Lambgoat. It still cuts to the raw truth, but "Horror Beyond Horror" is also thick with stomach-churning tempo twists. Just as they seem to settle into a skull-crushing groove, the band fly off the rails with more fret-ripping madness. And yet - amidst the song's deranged lunacy, Defiled never fail to lure you back into the pit.

Movements Announce Deluxe Edition of "RUCKUS!"

Southern California post-hardcore band MOVEMENTS — Patrick Miranda, vocals; Ira George, guitar; Spencer York, drums; and Austin Cressey, bass — are proud to announce the deluxe edition of their 2023-released album RUCKUS!

But this is no ordinary deluxe edition. It's packed with extras that fans will be eager to get their hands on.

Movements look to enhance RUCKUS! by remixing the entire album with six different remixers/producers for RUCKUS! (The Remixes).

On November 1, the digital-only RUCKUS! (The Remixes) will drop, with 11 remixes of the 10 original album tracks.

The single "Lead Pipe" will have two remixes. 

On December 13, the vinyl version of RUCKUS! (Deluxe Edition) will feature the full original album, along with the new song "Afraid to Die" and the 11 remixes. It will include "Lead Pipe (Live at Studio 4)" on Flexi.

ABOUT MOVEMENTS:
It's been a whirlwind few years for Movements as evidenced by the fact that band's 2020 album No Good Left to Give debuted at #3 on the Alternative chart and their streams have doubled since then with 300 million total streams in the U.S. alone. However, despite their success, the Southern Californian act have constantly reinvented themselves since forming in 2015 and the band's third full-length RUCKUS! sees the post-hardcore quartet taking their sound to expansive and sometimes unexpected places. Produced by longtime collaborator Will Yip (Circa Survive, Code Orange), the album fuses post-hardcore and punk influences with a healthy dose of pop songcraft to create an album that defies scene conventions in favor of something wholly unique. In order to accomplish this, the band made three extended trips to Yip's Studio 4 in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, to write and record the collection of songs that would end up as RUCKUS! "I truly don't believe that it could have been a more streamlined process and I don't think we've ever written music that's as good as what we put together for this record," Miranda explains. RUCKUS! sees the band integrating decidedly different influences such as Gorillaz and Strokes into their sound to challenge people's preconceptions.

Permafrost - new single 'Ultimo August'

Permafrost is a post-punk band, originally from Molde in Norway, which was formed in 1982 by school friends Frode Heggdal Larsen & Kåre Steinsbu. Robert Heggdal & Trond Tornes joined in 2001, and Daryl Bamonte in 2016. They take their name from a song by Magazine, and other influences are Joy Division, The Cure, Talking Heads, Pere Ubu, Fad Gadget, The Residents, Wire and Wolfgang Press. Trond Tornes left the band in 2022 to pursue other projects.

To date they have released the five critically acclaimed singles, 'Femme Fatale', 'Closed Eyes', 'Restore Us' and 'Come Back To Surprise', which all reached #1 on the Indie Disko Top40 chart (“Closed Eyes” for 6 consecutive weeks) as well as listing high on both the Deutsche Alternative and Native25 charts. They were added to numerous playlists including Apple Music’s 'New in Rock'. This year 'Wrong Heart' went top 5 in the ID Top40.

'Ultimo August' is the latest single from their forthcoming album 'The Light Coming Through', which will be released in Autumn 2024 on their own Fear of Music label.

Chase Rice Unveils Haunting Murder Ballad “Haw River” off Independent Album 'Go Down Singin’' Due Sept. 20

Celebrated by Billboard for “having storytelling details tumble from his lips, his portraits created quickly and efficiently,” Diamond-certified songwriter Chase Rice unveils his latest gripping narrative via today’s release of “Haw River,” offering fans a further glimpse into his highly anticipated independent album, Go Down Singin’, arriving Sept. 20. Inspired by a chance encounter during a writing retreat in Wilmington, N.C. with Blake Pendergrass – who also served as Rice’s writing partner on the recently released autobiographical title track – the haunting and evocative song showcases his ability to weave gripping narratives with a raw emotional core.
 
As Rice recalls of the chilling murder ballad’s origin, “We met a girl who said, ‘I’m Kayla from Haw River,’ and my ears just went up. Blake said, ‘We should make that a murder ballad…’ and we were off. Between the series 1923 about those priests beating up and raping Native American girls and our imaginations, it got pretty dark.”
 
With vivid lyrics and a stirring melody, “Haw River” tells the story of a preacher who exploits his power, only to face retribution at the hands of one of his victims, highlighting Rice’s continued evolution as a storyteller and his deep connection to the themes that resonate with him. The song joins a collection of songs that explore themes of growth, loss and redemption on Go Down Singin’, marking a significant moment in his musical journey as he bets on himself with the independent release.

Cheatham County Newcomer Preston James Releases Music Video for "Fences"

With his long hair, blonde scruff and dark eyes, southern rocker Preston James certainly looks the part. But it’s his soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics that will convince you he’s come a long way from the clean-cut kid who first plied the boards of Broadway nearly a decade ago. 

Since then, the Cheatham County native—who was offered his first publishing deal at 18—has announced himself to the Row, signing with publishers King Pen Music and Warner Chappell Music and inking a booking deal with The Neal Agency. 

Brian Carothers and Evan Kantor, both agents with The Neal Agency, are firmly in James’s corner. “Preston is sitting on an unbelievable debut EP,” Carothers says. “I’ll never forget the day he played it for everyone here. The excitement in the room was special, and we’re all thrilled to be working with him.” Adds Kantor, “From the moment we all heard the music, we were sold on Preston’s talent. But, James explains, “I eventually realized what really mattered, persevered and overcame every fence in front of me because I knew without a doubt that she was the one.”

The music video for “Fences,” produced and directed by Jim Cook, Cookhouse Media, is being released today. Both “Fences” and “Deal with the Devil” are featured on White Trash from Way Back, James’s five-song EP set to debut Oct. 25. Next up off the EP is “Heartbreak’s on You,” due out Sept. 20. Extinction A.D. 'To The Detested' | Drop Music Video For New Track "Burnt Sienna"

Extinction A.D., New York's relentless purveyors of ferocious hardcore tinged thrash metal, have released their brand new album, 'To The Detested' today via Unique Leader Records. Unwavering in its brutality and pulling no punches from a lyrical perspective. The band's fourth studio album sees the band continue to expand and evolve their sound and embrace new influences. This evolution is most apparent on today's focus track, 'Burnt Sienna', crafted in homage to frontman, Rick Jimenez' Puerto Rican heritage, incorporating elements of Bomba and hearing Rick sing in Spanish for the first time on an Extinction A.D. track. Rick's vulnerable experiences that shaped the song and the band's journey to creating the song have been captured in a mini-documentary, that will premiere on Monday, August 19th HERE.

Speaking on "Burnt Sienna", Rick Jimenez shares

"This entire song was a crazy journey from start to finish. From conception of incorporating Bomba into our typical metal style, to singing in Spanish, to diving into the "personal turmoil turned pride in exploration” of my Puerto Rican heritage and my upbringing in an unwelcoming environment, to putting together the exposition video doc of the creation of the song, to choosing this as a single. It’s a lot of personal exposition and being raw about my own individual experiences and evolution as I grow older in this world while simultaneously coming to terms with some things and discovering others." 

Speaking on the release of the album today, Jimenez continues

"This album took on a life of its own very quickly and is by far the freshest one of our career. There was no second guessing or laboring over anything, it was pure unbridled energy from the first note of the first song we wrote to the final sound we recorded. We’ve never pulled any punches musically or lyrically but this is a whole new level of intensity, vitriol and honesty. It is not for the thin-skinned or the weak hearted. This record is in fact our declaration to the detested."

Progressive metalcore pioneers Born Of Osiris have released their latest offering "In Desolation" and the accompanying official video (via Sumerian Records). Leading up to today's release, the band has dropped "Torchbearer", "A Mind Short Circuiting" and their most recent banger, "Elevate". Prime Video Unveils Key Art and Trailer for Highly Anticipated Canadian Original Docuseries The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal

Prime Video today released the official key art and trailer for the upcoming four-part docuseries The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal, an intimate and unvarnished look at the extraordinary 40-year journey of Canada's most beloved rock band. Directed by Mike Downie, the four-part series chronicles the triumphs, trials and deep bonds of brotherhood that defined The Tragically Hip's rise from basement shows to arena rock legends. The docuseries will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) before screening at film festivals nationwide. The Prime Video launch date will be shared at a later date.

XOVR RECORDS Signs Zahna, Artist Shares New Single "Pile of Pills"

Zahna's earth-shattering voice is one that refuses to be silenced— no matter the fury of the highs and lows that have been thrown her way.

Today, she announces not only her new single, the rebellious rager "Pile of Pills" — listen below— but also her new label home. She is pleased to announce that she has partnered with XOVR Records, the label owned and operated by Korn's Brian "Head" Welch.

The song is furious AF, but it is threaded with a note of hope.
 

"'Pile of Pills' was written when I was in a  chaotic state of survival from 2019-2021," Zahna states. "Coming off the heels of an organ failure diagnosis, following a kidney transplant, and then diving into the following years of the pandemic as an immunocompromised individual, it felt like death was always around the corner. Not only was I fighting the physical aspect of dying, but I had so much financial stress, medical bills, and music industry trauma. My body, heart, and mind, and spirit were just so sick. 

"Anything I did or tried to do just felt like buying time until I had no recourse left, and I never knew when I was going to exit the survival cycle. It truly felt like life circumstances were just squeezing my willpower to live anymore and death was always on my doorstep."

She continues, "Years of darkness and hardship can change someone fundamentally, but I am so blessed to have made it out alive despite all of the challenges. 'Pile of Pills' is for anyone just trying to survive. The poverty and chronic illness cycle is absolutely vicious, but please don't give up, even if it takes years. I'm still healing from those turbulent times, and I hope this track can help you scream your lungs out and release all of the anger, pain, and hopelessness. You will make it out."

Welch weighs in on what magnetically drew him to this artist, saying, "I am always so mesmerized by a vocalist who has incredible power, incredible range, melody, tone, and on top of all that, having the strength to be so vulnerable to share such an intense health crisis experience with the world, while still dealing with the raw emotions and trauma from it. It melts my heart, man. It touches my soul. I am a huge fan of Zahna for many reasons, and I am confident you will be too."
