REPENTANCE to support ORBIT CULTURE; Release new lyric video for "Light It Up"!

Chicago, Illinois-based metallers REPENTANCE will provide direct support for the Swedish metal act ORBIT CULTURE on August 19 at Majestic Theater in Detroit, Michigan and August 20 at the Bottom Lounge in Chicago, Illinois. In order to celebrate and prepare their fans for the upcoming dates, today the band released a brand new lyric video for their album track "Light It Up". Video done by Andrea Mantelli.

Born Of Osiris Release New Track "In Desolation" and Official Video (via Sumerian Records)

Progressive metalcore pioneers Born Of Osiris have released their latest offering "In Desolation" and the accompanying official video (via Sumerian Records). Leading up to today's release, the band has dropped "Torchbearer", "A Mind Short Circuiting" and their most recent banger, "Elevate". Altogether, the tracks have clocked up 2.6 million streams on Spotify and 664k views on YouTube. When asked about the inspiration behind "In Desolation", the band shared:

"'In Desolation' represents the search for clarity within yourself, even when the journey feels desolate. While this song stays grounded in our roots we continue to explore new sonic elements."

Prime Video Unveils Key Art and Trailer for Highly Anticipated Canadian Original Docuseries The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal

Prime Video today released the official key art and trailer for the upcoming four-part docuseries The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal, an intimate and unvarnished look at the extraordinary 40-year journey of Canada's most beloved rock band. Directed by Mike Downie, the four-part series chronicles the triumphs, trials and deep bonds of brotherhood that defined The Tragically Hip's rise from basement shows to arena rock legends. The docuseries will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) before screening at film festivals nationwide. The Prime Video launch date will be shared at a later date.

The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal is a love story between a band and the country they call home. XOVR RECORDS Signs Zahna, Artist Shares New Single "Pile of Pills"

Zahna's earth-shattering voice is one that refuses to be silenced— no matter the fury of the highs and lows that have been thrown her way.

Today, she announces not only her new single, the rebellious rager "Pile of Pills" — listen below— but also her new label home. She is pleased to announce that she has partnered with XOVR Records, the label owned and operated by Korn's Brian "Head" Welch.

The song is furious AF, but it is threaded with a note of hope.
 

"'Pile of Pills' was written when I was in a  chaotic state of survival from 2019-2021," Zahna states. "Coming off the heels of an organ failure diagnosis, following a kidney transplant, and then diving into the following years of the pandemic as an immunocompromised individual, it felt like death was always around the corner. Not only was I fighting the physical aspect of dying, but I had so much financial stress, medical bills, and music industry trauma. My body, heart, and mind, and spirit were just so sick. 

"Anything I did or tried to do just felt like buying time until I had no recourse left, and I never knew when I was going to exit the survival cycle. It truly felt like life circumstances were just squeezing my willpower to live anymore and death was always on my doorstep."

She continues, "Years of darkness and hardship can change someone fundamentally, but I am so blessed to have made it out alive despite all of the challenges. 'Pile of Pills' is for anyone just trying to survive. The poverty and chronic illness cycle is absolutely vicious, but please don't give up, even if it takes years. I'm still healing from those turbulent times, and I hope this track can help you scream your lungs out and release all of the anger, pain, and hopelessness. You will make it out."

Welch weighs in on what magnetically drew him to this artist, saying, "I am always so mesmerized by a vocalist who has incredible power, incredible range, melody, tone, and on top of all that, having the strength to be so vulnerable to share such an intense health crisis experience with the world, while still dealing with the raw emotions and trauma from it. It melts my heart, man. It touches my soul. I am a huge fan of Zahna for many reasons, and I am confident you will be too."

"We made records on the same label for 20 years, and it was a great experience," says Cooper. "Since this was the first independent record, it put some pep in my step, so to speak. We did exactly what we wanted to do. If I was on the road and felt inspired to write, I just did. In the past, we'd make a bunch of ideas and whittle everything down for the album. This time, we only wrote and recorded 10 tracks, but it was all we needed. Musically, there are a lot of flavors on the record. It's got the arena songs, but it also has some tunes that are more nostalgic and throwback Skillet."

He continues, "Thematically, there's so much nihilism in our culture. Depression and teen suicide are at epidemic levels. We're revolting against a culture that creates nihilism, nothingness, and materialism. The album is poignant, but it's also very confident and inclusive as well. It's a record saying, 'We have to be willing to stand up for what we believe in — even if it might be unpopular in some circles, but hey, maybe we could have a revolution of love, you know, a revolution of understanding, of tolerance towards people that we don't agree with and come back to some human dignity and respecting peoples rights and where they're coming from. And so, it's kind of speaking to the division and the polarization that is happening, which I think is a really good message and what the whole ‘revolution’ thing is all about. We allude to it on the record cover where there's a Skillet flag, and in the corner it lists I Corinthians, 13:13, a verse that says, 'Hold onto these things: faith, hope, love. But the greatest is love.'"

Candy Hearts To Release "You Could Be Anyone (Rarities 2010-2016) + Share "Anything"

Candy Hearts were a New Jersey-based pop punk band formed at the tail end of the '00s and fronted by singer-songwriter Mariel Loveland. Best described as empathetic tragedies channeled through '90s alternative-soaked pop-rock, Candy Hearts did downtrodden and heavily introspective sentiments with bubbly, hook-filled inclinations like no other. 

Their sophomore LP All The Ways You Let Me Down was produced by Chad Gilbert (New Found Glory) and ranked by Billboard as one of the best pop albums of 2014.

Although they toured with pop punk heavyweights like Set It Off, Real Friends, and The Story So Far, as well as some stints on Vans Warped Tour, Candy Hearts have always aimed for "Taylor Swift meets The Breeders."

You Could Be Anyone (Rarities 2010-2016) is a collection of B-sides and rarities from 2010-2016, marking the 10-year anniversary of All The Ways You Let Me Down. Unprocessed Release New Single "Sacrifice Me" + Official Music Video

German prog metal powerhouse Unprocessed is back with their new anthemic track "Sacrifice Me" and the accompanying music video, setting the stage for what promises to be another exciting chapter in the band's musical journey. Speaking about today's release, guitarist and vocalist Manuel Gardner Fernandes shares:

"We're already moving into a new era of Unprocessed and the inspiration just kept on flowing after we released '...And Everything In Between'. "Sacrifice Me" is a modern metal anthem that displays a darker, melancholic side of us that we haven't shared too much of in the past."

ROLO TOMASSI TO RELEASE NEW LIVE ALBUM "LIVE AT THE ELECTRIC BALLROOM" OUT SEPTEMBER 27, 2024

UK Progressive metal band Rolo Tomassi announce a new live album, Live at The Electric Ballroom, to be released on September 27, 2024, via MNRK Heavy.  The 15-track project was recorded from a headlining show on February 15, 2023, at London’s Electric Ballroom. The set showcases Rolo Tomassi at their most dynamic and mesmerizing.

The first single, Aftermath, is out today. Originally released on 2018’s Time Will Die and Love Will Bury It, this live version intensifies the melodic and sweeping soundscape.  

Vocalist/keyboardist James Spence says, “Since its release, this song has been an audience favourite along with a rare opportunity for a sing-along. It remains an outlier in our material, but in the context of a full set, it always feels like an elevated moment. Our band has always been about stark contrasts, and this is a perfect example of that.” 

Rolo Tomassi have spent 17 years leading the pack rather than following, and on their recent album, Where Myth Becomes Memory, they've led with more poise and determination than ever before. Defeated Sanity have pushed the boundaries of extreme metal for 30 odd years. The band execute jazz-infused chaos with mind-bending precision, while also slamming together so many memorable breakdowns that they cracked the Billboard charts. “The last few DS albums leaned heavily on the proggier side of our sound”, says the band's drummer and founding member Lille Gruber. “We still like to experiment, but on our new album, we wanted to get back to the raw slamming that our fans love about Psalms of the Moribund or Chapters of Repugnance”.

Just like the rivers of hell, "The Odour of Sanctity" comes pouring out the speakers in a never-ending stream of filth. Guttural vocals spew through a churning mix of chunky riffs, hiccuping drum fills and a cavernous low-end. "We wanted to keep some of the fidelity that's associated with modern death metal", the band says, "but Chronicleshas more of the raw production style that stood out on Psalms and Chapters". 

To dig back into the brutal mindset that long-time fans have come to crave, in January 2024, Defeated Sanity returned to Thousand Cave Studios. The underground New York City hotspot was also the excavation site for The Sanguinary Impetus, which dumped a fresh layer of dirt on the more "polished" production of Passages Into Deformity. Except this time around, the band encouraged producer Colin Marston to really get his hands dirty.

"The Odour of Sanctity" stinks to high heaven. New guitarist Vaughn Stoffey shreds with such gross speed that even the old school heads will be spinning around like The Exorcist. Of course, the ungodly pace is still set by the whip of Lille Gruber. He opens the song as if puncturing a wound, hammering out blast beats that are as merciless as the nails of the cross.  

"Lille's drumming is just ridiculous", says Jacob Schmidt, whose belching bass lines give "Odour" a oddball bounce. "He's the face of the DS franchise. So even though Chronicles is more slamming and straightforward, the weird, hyper-technical experiments still found a way into the mix".

Plenty of knuckle-dragging awaits within its stomach-turning twists, but Chronicles of Lunacy isn't Defeated Sanity for dummies. Heck, the album's concept is wrapped up in the many malicious ways that delusional thinking can rot the human psyche. "Each song deals with a different strain of mental corruption", says Josh Welshman. "Odour" stinks of religious fanaticism. After a brutal showing on Sanguinary, Welshman returns with a vengeance. "A miracle defiled / Fraudulently wrought", he summons with a demonic growl as the band open up the pit with a brutal breakdown. 

"In true DS fashion, 'Odour' showcases the full range of our sound", the band says. "It's freaky but also unrelentingly brutal, which represents the crossroad that we ended up at on Chronicles of Lunacy. Even though the album can get pretty fucking weird, there's still a emphasis on straight-up slamming".

None of their albums are ever going to follow a straight line, but on Chronicles of Lunacy, Defeated Sanity return to sheer brutality.

ALBORN is a hard hitting yet melodic alternative metal band based in Northern Illinois. Their resume includes sharing the stage with Shinedown, All That Remains, Sevendust, Nonpoint, Badflower, Powerman 5000, Buckcherry, Adelitas Way, Gemini Syndrome, Plush and others. In 2024, to follow up their incredible success, ALBORN again went to Las Vegas to join Collier and Harley. This time the team recorded 4 songs the band feels is the best brand of ALBORN yet. The queer country artist first made her mark on Music City with a nod to her Latin roots when her first single, the bilingual “Real Talk,” catapulted her onto the country scene as a “Highway Find” on SiriusXM’s The Highway. The powerhouse vocalist just released a new track "Death of Me." Produced by acclaimed writer/producer and BMI Songwriter of the Year, Stephony Smith and co-written by Angie K, she explained the influence Smith had on her when it came to releasing "Death of Me" in a recent "Holler Nashville Session"sharing,"It's a very vulnerable song, and I almost didn't put in on the record, but I'm glad I did - just because of the stories I've heard of people relating to it."

The 2023 CMT Next Women of Country artist has been in the studio working on her new music with Smith, who penned the smash hit “It’s Your Love” for Tim McGraw/Faith Hill and has received cuts from some of music’s biggest stars including The Chicks, Shania Twain, Barbara Streisand, Kenny Chesney, Terri Clark, Reba McEntire and more. 

With CMT calling her an “up-and-coming female artist to watch,"  this year is certainly shaping up to be a break out year for Angie K. Born in El Salvador and raised in Georgia, her love for country music was nurtured from a young age. Already this year, Heilung have performed their ritual at Glastonbury, Download and Roskilde Festival, as well as in front of another sold-out crowd at Red Rocks.

This fall, the Nordic collective will embark on a tour of Europe before closing out 2024 in Australia and New Zealand with their label mate Eivør. More dates at European arenas will follow in 2025.

Modern rock powerhouse POP EVIL return with the new single "What Remains."

It's the dawn of a new era for Pop Evil, which the band promises will be its most sonically heavy.
