Formed in the wake of a brutal murder, dark rock outfit SÉANCE OF SORROW uses music as their medium to communicate with the mortal world. Acting as a conduit between the realm of the living and the realm of the dead, his mournful melodies tell their story.

SÉANCE OF SORROW are proud to unveil their second single, 'Dark Rain'. For this release, the band partnered with Ghost Cult Magazine to premiere the music video. Once again the band enlisted Tomi Jo Mouser of Mouser House Productions to create the video and continue the ritual.

Each song provides a psychic vision to vocalist Michael Morrison, revealing details of their former lives, grieving loved ones, and similar, tragic endings. 'Dark Rain' was produced by Chris Collier (KORN, FEAR FACTORY, PRONG) while mixing & mastering were completed by Josiah Wiswell.

Condemned to ‘The Black’, a place where forsaken souls with unfinished business reside, they strive to eventually write the one song that will give Michael the vision of who took their lives. Until then, SOS play their cryptic hard rock through eternal darkness. Close your eyes, open your hearts, and let the ritual begin. This is the SÉANCE OF SORROW.

Toronto-based artist The Shadow Majlis [pronounced "mahj-lis"] presents 'Swallowed By The Sky', a song that takes flight on powerful emotions - a song rooted in love and remembrance. A powerful taste of the debut album 'The Departure', produced and mixed by three-time Grammy Award winning producer David Bottrill (Peter Gabriel, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Tool, David Sylvian, Mastodon, Smashing Pumpkins, Muse, Real World Studios),

Led by multi-instrumentalist Ali Jafri, this project fuses elements of Eastern modes with post-punk. An alternative neo-global style that transcends borders, Jafri's artistic and musical vision was realized with David J (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets) on bass and Rakesh Tewari (Jaffa Road, The Special Interest Group) on drums and percussion.

Calling the album a powerful achievement, David J says, "I believe that there are certain tracks and moments that act as portals into another dimension - I'm not being fanciful here!" Earlier, the released videos for the singles 'Deer in the Headlights' and 'Mazdur'.

Perhaps known as a member of David J's live band or for playing rock-sitar with Pigface, Ali Jafri also leads projects ARIEL, The Gotham City Drugstore and Saintfield, in addition to his his solo work. Engineered by Darren McGill and mastered by Noah Mintz, this album features cover art by Stephen Seto (Splintercage).

The album features numerous guest performers, including vocalist Olena Tsybulska (DakhaBrakha), guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite (The Mission, Peter Murphy, MGT, Tricky, Gary Numan), cellist Anne Bourne (Loreena McKennitt, Jane Siberry), Tuvan throat singer Soriah, Ravi Naimpally (Niyaz, Constantinople) on tabla, Pankaj Mishra on sarangi, Selmanpak Ayduz on ney, Kerem Koktas on kemanche, and Sasha Singer-Wilson on backing vocals.

The Shadow Majlis produces poignant and powerful music that stems from tragedy. Amid a deluge of personal upheaval, this album has been Jafri's means to address his grief over losing his seven-year-old son Oisín, who lost his nine-month battle with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (a highly aggressive form of brain cancer) in September 2022, not to mention the dissolution of his conjugal relationship and a year-long state of temporary homelessness.

Ali Jafri explains, "This song is about how Oisin and I would lay on the grass and stare up into the sky and we’d imagine that all the clouds were actually terrain and we were looking down at it and then we’d feel a falling sensation. I found that “falling into the sky” was a good metaphor for death, but “Swallowed by the Sky” has a better ring to it. This song recalls the fun we had and how it can be played with to signify dying."

Showcasing genre-fluid excellence and raw emotional experience, The Shadow Majlis merges alternative music with the rich, diverse instrumentation and rhythms of world music. Recorded in Toronto, LA, Portland, Istanbul, Kyiv and Iceland, this is truly an international affair, with languages such as Urdu, Farsi, Arabic, Icelandic and Ukrainian woven with English throughout this album.

'The Departure' album is out now, available everywhere digitally, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. This album's creation was made possible through funding received from FACTOR.

Irish-born singer-songwriter Perry Blake has announced his new album 'Death of a Society Girl'. Marking 20 years as a recording artist, it will be released on June 21 via Moochin' About Records. Known for his delicate, downtempo and beautifully melancholic output and uniquely soothing timbre, this is Blake's first album in three years, following the critically acclaimed ‘Songs of Praise’ (5 Star MOJO).

Ahead of the release of this beautiful dark cinematic classic, he presents the epic title track 'Death of a Society Girl', featuring world-renowned British actor Paul McGann (Dr. Who, Withnail and I). Named Music Week's single of the week, it was released along with two remixes of the track by UK artists KosmetiQ and Inertia.

Co-written and co-produced with long-term collaborator Graham Murphy (Clannad, Sharon Shannon, Marie Brennan), the new album features nine compositions with Blake's hallmark surrealist lyrics and original artwork by Syrian-born artist Helen Abbas. Very much of the here and now, this album also offers traces of Perry’s previous heady work - not dissimilar to his French Top-40 eponymous debut album - finding Perry at the height of his powers.

Born in Ireland's Sligo county, Perry Blake has been dubbed one of music’s great untapped resources. Having released his debut album ‘Perry Blake’ on Polydor UK in 1998, including three singles chosen as 'Singles of the Week' on Jo Wiley BBC Radio 1, Blake moved to France. There, he achieved cult status across Europe since then, releasing a string of critically-acclaimed studio albums, a live album recorded at Cirque Royal Brussels with a full orchestra, as well as the soundtracks for ‘Presque Rien’ (2004) for French art-house director Sebastien Lifshitz’s hugely acclaimed film of the same name) and 'Trois Petites Filles' (2004).

Apart from writing two songs for Françoise Hardy’s platinum selling album 'Tant de belles choses’, he has appeared regularly on French TV and toured Europe with Carla Bruni, as well as with the French National Jazz Orchestra.

Perry Blake’s melancholic, melodic soundscapes have featured in many European TV series and cinematic works. Between 2006 and 2011, these include 'Tiger Lily'and 'Clara Sheller' (France’s version of 'Sex in the City'), plus hit Italian movie 'L’uomo cheama' starring Monica Belluci.

Over the years, his musical endeavours has led him to collaborate with numerous musical luminaries, including Steve Jansen (Japan, Rain Tree Crow), Toby Pitman (Paul McCartney, George Michael, David Arnold, Clint Mansell, Shirley Bassey), Glenn Garrett (Dead Can Dance, Brendan Perry), Neil Conti (David Bowie, Prefab Sprout), Rik Carter (The Mission, All About Eve), Marco Sabiu (Ennio Morricone, Tanita Tikaram, Luciano Pavarotti), Dickon Hinchliffe (Tindersticks), and world-renowned French electronic artist Émilie Simon.

Perry Blake has published the children's book 'Gatos em Lissadell' in Portugal, as part of a collection by 12 authors, including former U.S president Jimmy Carter, Actors Will Smith and Julie Andrews. Blake also has a separate collaborative music project with Glenn Garrett and Graham Murphy, called Electro Sensitive Behaviour.

The title track 'Death of a Society Girl' ft. is out now. As of June 21, 'Death of a Society Girl' will be released on CD and available everywhere digitally, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp, where it is now available for pre-order.

Hopium continues Kingcrow's steadfast commitment to exploring the depths of emotion, a trait that has solidified their standing in the hearts of music enthusiasts across the globe. With "Kintsugi", listeners are invited into a world where imperfections are not merely accepted but celebrated with golden seams of strength.

Drawing inspiration from the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery, "Kintsugi" beautifully parallels life's ability to recover from adversity, a theme that's intricately woven throughout Hopium. The single is an anthem for anyone who has ever faced defeat, only to rise again with a renewed sense of purpose and beauty.

The music video for "Kintsugi" was masterfully crafted by Riccardo Nifosì and Devilnax.

The first incarnation of the band was originally founded in Rome, Italy, by brothers Diego Cafolla (guitars) and Manuel Thundra Cafolla (drums) under the name of "Earth Shaker".

Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's poem "Raven" and driven by a will of change, the band's name was soon altered into KINGCROW and a couple of self-produced demos/albums where recorded under the KINGCROW moniker: Something Unknown(2001), Insider (2004) and Timetropia (2006).

In the early months of 2010 the band finished recording their new album “Phlegethon” that was released in June of the same year under the “Scarlet Records” label.

It was considered on an international level as a relevant masterpiece and was classed as one of the elite progressive metal albums of the year. It has been near the top of the “album of the year” charts in some international prog-rock websites. Phlegethon promotion lasted for about two years and a half.

During the same year, the band recorded the new album “In Crescendo” that was released in February 2013 by the American label “Sensory Records.

The band toured along with Pain Of Salvation in North America in April and May, 2013. In 2015 the band released the album “Eidos” and toured Europe as Headliners. Meanwhile KINGCROW signed a management deal with GlassVille Music, house of very well known progressive acts like Pain Of Salvation and Riverside among others.

The band recorded the new album titled “The Persistence”.

The album was released on September 7th via Sensory Records and received great reviews and ended on a lot of “best of 2018” lists on magazines and webzines.

The upcoming album “Hopium” marks another step forward in pushing boundaries remarking the restless progressive attitude of the band in incorporating countless influences into a personal sound.

Describing the band today is quite a difficult task, but one could state that the influence of different kinds of music, from progressive rock , ambient music, alternative rock and metal are all present in the music of KINGCROW.

With each release KINGCROW has taken a step further away from their original roots and is regarded today as one of the most exciting bands that Italy has to offer.

Vocalist + guitarist Ashley Tubb comments, "Now people that know me definitely wouldn't describe me as a supporter of the British monarchy. However, a few months after the death of my father, The Queen died. First of all, I wasn't bothered by this…then after about two straight days of non-stop press coverage, it started really getting to me. Why does this random woman deserve weeks of non-stop press coverage and faux-outpourings of third hand grief, when regular everyday people (like my dad) are more or less ignored? Life carries on as if nothing has happened. It's kind of disgusting to me in a way. The imbalance of power. Think of this as our comrades call to arms."

"Office Job Simulator" is the third single taken from the upcoming new album, following the release of "The Shape Of ASMR To Come" and "New Dead Elvis."

Regarding the album, the band shares, "This album was intended to be a sideways step. A move away from the kind of thing that is expected of us... if anything is at all. What I mean by that, is the songs are more direct. They take a much shorter amount of time to 'get to the point.' We also wanted to make this one noticeably 'less metal.' While we love being a bit boneheaded and confrontational, we definitely wanted to explore the more melodic, song-based side of the band’s sound. Normally, you'd see shortened song structures and more singing and think, 'Oh these guys are going for gold….they wanna get on the radio and make millions of bloodstained pounds.' Well, you're very much entitled to think that if you wish, but it felt like more of a songwriting challenge than anything else to be honest. We've done the whole drawn out, endless space rock thing a good few times now and it would've been easy to rest on those laurels. Do something we're comfortable with. Alas, that is not really the point of this band. We'd much prefer to make it difficult and take the long route."

An epic and ambitious achievement, Truth... is, in signature Sugar Horse style, one single long song: a meditation and exploration of everything the note A has to offer.

Sugar Horse recently toured with LLNN, and previously with post-rock luminaries 65daysofstatic across Europe, as well as dates with Pianos Become The Teeth, Liturgy, Chat Pile and an appearance at ArcTanGent festival. A lot of people take the name Sugar Horse to be a drug reference — perhaps fitting for a band that sound like the last moments of a three-day binge. Darting wildly between dark/light, pain/bliss, sacred/profane, Sugar Horse are unpredictable and unrestrained.

Formed in what is now considered to be the utopian dreamscape of 2015, the band grew slowly at first. Far from fully formed, but steadily gaining limbs, heads and vital organs. Finally, 2019's DRUJ followed swiftly by 2020's DRUGS saw them hit on a relentless stride of eclectic releases that simultaneously confused and entranced audiences.

2021 saw the band encamp in a former Lutheran church to record their debut album, The Live Long After, releasing it via Brighton’s own Small Pond Records. Publications such as The Quietus describing the record as "shift[ing] dispositions fluidly, taking elements of extreme aggression alongside floaty post-metal" and Echoes & Dust calling it "a monumental achievement." The album took every disparate element that Sugar Horse previously employed and amplified them, while juxtaposing each next to each other, with genuinely unpredictable and exciting consequences.

2022 saw no relent from the band's fast-paced release schedule, as they put out an anthemic shoegaze single in "Pictures Of Dogs Having Sex," followed swiftly by their collaborative Waterloo Teeth EP. A release that paired Sugar Horse's terrifying eclecticism with guest appearances from 12 other artists in just four short(ish) songs. Each artist coming from a different area of the modern British music scene, whether that be world conquering post-punk bass lines from IDLES' Adam Devonshire, heavy titans Conjurer and Pupil Slicer’s throat crippling wails, or a shredding guitar solo from Biffy Clyro/Oceansize axe wielder Mike Vennart. The EP packs in an album’s worth of genre mutilating twists and turns into just 25 minutes of music.

Thornhill Announce New Live Album "Live On Tour!"

Spanning the globe and a captivating array of material, Thornhill have announced the upcoming release of a brand new live album. Live On Tour! is due out on June 21 via UNFD. Pre-order it here.

Boasting tracks recorded across the globe over the past two years, Live On Tour! features new and old Thornhill favorites captured in the wild, with singles taken from their debut 2019 album The Dark Pool and their sophomore 2022 album Heroine, as well as their latest material.

Featuring recordings from performances in Seattle, New York, Manchester, Cardiff, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cologne, Atlanta, the UK's Newcastle, Sydney, Perth, and their hometown in Melbourne, Live On Tour! ultimately showcases Thornhill's voracious live prowess, while also celebrating the band's towering diversity and innovative craftsmanship from across their catalogue.

"It's been an incredible experience getting to tour around the world in the past two years since the release of Heroine," the band shares. "We have so many great memories, and wanted to share some of our favorite live moments with you before we get started on the next chapter of Thornhill."

Accompanying the announcement of Live On Tour!, Thornhill have also released the live version of their most recent single "Obsession." Recorded live in Perth, "Obsession Live" exudes pure primal energy, with its rugged sonic sensuality heightened by its live setting along with searing riffs and vocalist Jacob Charlton effortlessly flitting between sumptuous swoon and torrid vigor.

THOMAS THUNDER Releases New Upbeat, Latin Jazz, Instrumental Single "Sunshine"

Are you ready for summer? "Sunshine" is the newest release by upcoming musician and songwriter Thomas Thunder. This 16 year-old prodigy wrote, arranged and plays the drums on this upbeat, Latin jazz, instrumental song. The incredible session musicians on this composition are Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater) on piano, Ric Fierabracci (Blood, Sweat and Tears) on bass and Terminus Horns (Snarky Puppy) on saxophone, trombone and flute. Thomas Thunder is a 16 year-old upcoming musician, songwriter and drummer from Boston, Massachusetts. His prodigious songwriting has captured the attention of both fans as well as professional musicians.

Thomas began his journey as a musician when he started drum lessons at age five. He started playing in performance bands at age seven at School of Rock, and in addition to drums, he’s learned to play bass guitar, upright bass, guitar and keyboards. Thomas is currently in three School of Rock bands, is an assistant music teacher, and recently joined the Providence Drum Troupe.

In regards to songwriting, Thomas began at age ten when he released his first single and was awarded a prize in the New England Songwriting competition. In fact, Thomas grabbed the attention of the ‘King of Keyboards’ Derek Sherinian (Sons of Apollo; Dream Theater; Alice Cooper) with his songs. By the time Thomas reached the age 14, he released his debut album The Pharaoh's Temple, and his team of session musicians included Derek, Ron Bumblefoot Thal and Tony Franklin.

Thomas also began his collegiate academic journey at age 14. He began taking Berklee College of Music Online courses, and has achieved a Berklee Professional Drum Certificate at 15 years-old, and a Professional Music Theory and Composition Certificate at age sixteen. In fact, Thomas graduated high school almost two years early in January 2024, and at age 16, he was accepted full time into Berklee College Online Bachelor’s of Arts in Composition for Film, TV and Games. His achievements were highlighted by local news stations, including NBC, CBS and WPRI.

Recorded live at Red Rocks in October 2021, Lifa Iotungard captures Heilung's sacred ritual. As torches blazed and drums echoed between the sandstones, a sacred space was created, linking the hearts of the present with the spirits of the past.

"Remember that we all are brothers", Heilung recite during their opening ceremony. "All people, beasts, trees, and stones and wind. We all descend from the one great being".

"Traust" unfolds in a powerful surge of throat singing, primordial rhythms and mystic chants. This song - which first appeared on their second studio album Futha - transports listeners back to a time where the veil between worlds was thinnest. Christopher Juul, Maria Franz, Kai Uwe Faust, and their battalion of warriors, equipped with the lore of ages, cast a spell that reverberates through the bones of the Earth itself.

HEILUNG don’t play shows. They perform a ritual. Every performance begins with Kai Uwe Faust leading Christopher Juul, Maria Franz and the rest of the Nordic collective in an ancient prayer. Soon after, the audience is swept into rapture, swayed by incense and throat singing, primordial rhythms, subtle electronic textures, a mesmerizing light show, an army of warriors and bursts of fire.

Since they began in 2015, Heilung have been paving melodic paths to the past with their unique and mystifying sound. Evading all conventional genre tags and the confines of any specific labels, the group aptly self-describes their sound as “amplified history,” emphasizing their ability to connect modern society with the rudiments of humanity’s beginnings through music.

“Our ancestral Nordic civilizations did not just pop up, exist and disappear in isolation”, says Faust, a throat singer and one of Heilung’s three composers. “With singing these primordial songs we want to give tribute to these cultures, reconnect to the beginnings and remember that we all, from East to West, from past to present, are connected through the exchange of ideas and inspiring each other”.

While Heilung features authentic and archaic instrumentation that ranges from rattles and ritual bells to human bones and throat singing, their captivating brand of music is far from primitive. Producer and founding member Christopher Juul implements subtle electronic elements that elevates the musical atmosphere and provides a more in-depth and layered soundscape.

Indeed, Heilung’s success has been unprecedented, achieving milestones in its few short years of existence that many do not see in a lifetime. The collective already had rapidly been growing a buzz upon the self-release of their first full-length Ofnir in 2015, but their dizzying upward trajectory really took off from the moment they set foot on the stage at Castlefest in 2017 for the now-legendary debut of their live ritual. Luckily for those who were not fortunate enough to bare witness to this magical event, the full ceremony was captured on film, having since been viewed by tens of millions of fans across the globe.

As Heilung trekked across Europe and brought their mystifying experience to new audiences, talk of this new band and their stunning ceremony made way to Season of Mist label owner Michael Berberian, who quickly offered the band a record contract after seeing their undeniable musical impact for himself.

By 2019, Heilung launched their second full-length record, Futha, which contrasted the masculine and battle-heavy themes of their debut with a feminine counterpart that celebrated fertility and female energy. Upon the first week of the record’s release, it graced the Billboard charts with coveted numbers, debuting at #3 on the Heatseekers Charts and #4 on the Billboard World Music Chart, placing on a total of seven Billboardcharts while meeting critical-acclaim from the press on a global scale.

Their music has even appeared in places that extend far beyond typical concert venues. From hit television series like Game of Thrones and Vikings to video game giants like Conqueror’s Blade VII: Wolves of Ragnarök and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II to the blockbuster Robert Eggers film The Northman, Heilung’s music has risen far above the underground and has transcended into a greater world. Even a global pandemic couldn’t slow down Heilung’s success; it only strengthened them and gave them the gift of time to complete work on their third album. In English, Drif translates as “Gathering”. The music embodies this philosophy by tying together the beginning of civilization with today’s modern society.

Heilung now perform their rituals all over the world. They sold out their first North American tour in 72 hours. Upon returning to the United States in 2021, they were greeted by another sold-out crowd, this time at the historic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. This performance will be released on vinyl, CD and Blu-ray in 2024, along with another performance at the Apollo Theatre in Hammersmith, London.

During the lead-up to the new LIFAs, Heilung will embark on headlining tours of Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Along the way, they will cast their spell over more of the world’s biggest stages, including Roskilde Festival, Download Festival and Glastonbury. But no matter where they are, Heilung always begin their performance with a humbling reminder of where we all come from.

Lifting the curtain behind the "Closure" EP, frontman Scott Stevens shares:

"Closure is about moving from the past so one can walk through the door to the next chapter."

Diving into the latest single "s.A.D.", frontman Scott Stevens adds:

“I wrote ‘s.A.D’ during the grip of the Covid shut down at its highest point. It’s the 1st song that I had written for myself in a long, long time and it became the catalyst for the Closure EP really. It’s about wanting and needing a change. Really reaching to touch and live out your dreams but something always seems to knock you back a peg, yet still remaining optimistic that better days are ahead."

Formed in 1997, The Exies released two influential LPs with Virgin Records, 'Inertia' and 'Head For The Door', achieving combined sales of over 500k and spawning singles that charted at rock radio. Both albums secured positions on the Billboard 200 chart. Their third album "A Modern Way of Living with the Truth" came out in 2007 before the group disbanded in 2010.

The Exies’ music gained significant exposure through placements in numerous video games and tours alongside rock giants like Motley Crüe and Velvet Revolver. Following their hiatus, Scott Stevens continued to leave an indelible mark on the musical landscape with co-written songs amassing over 2 billion streams and selling over 40 million albums.

Now, The Exies are poised to pick up right where they left off with their reunion show and latest single, bringing together the nostalgia of their storied past and the freshness of their current creative evolution.

“For the Viper Room, it’s family; it’s where we got signed. Everything that made a difference for us happened there, so it’s fitting that this is where the reunion show would be held,” Stevens shares, emphasizing the sentimental venue choice for their comeback performance.

ABOUT THE EXIES

The Exies, formed in 1997 and named in homage to John Lennon’s shortened term for the 1960s art students in Hamburg that called themselves “the existentialists”, had a prosperous journey, peaking with 2003’s Inertia and 2004's Head For The Door. Both albums were released by Virgin Records and, combined, sold more than 500,000 copies.

In 2007, The Exies put out their third full-length, A Modern Way Of Living With The Truth, before disbanding three years later. Despite frontman Scott Stevens' pivot to songwriting for others, amassing significant accolades and contributions to over 40 million album sales, the band's 2010 dissolution left him longing for closure. This yearning and finding himself at a loose end in the beginning days of the pandemic, Stevens began to write and soon realized that new The Exies songs were materializing before him it just started to unfold happen without him realizing. Speaking on the experience, Stevens shares

“Once I committed to writing and producing for others, I really went in,” he explains. “I just jumped in the ocean and didn’t think about writing for myself anymore. And that’s why it was so odd when I went for a walk in 2020—outside with a mask on—and all of a sudden I hear a melody in my head and I’m like, ‘Who’s that? What’s that?’ And all of a sudden I realized that that’s my voice. It was very puzzling in the beginning, and then it started happening more and more. I don’t know what spurred it on or what caused it. Time? Not being able to work as much? Maybe my mind drifting a little bit more because I have to work. Nobody was coming over here because nobody was going anywhere. And I didn’t want to Zoom write, because although it’s kind of a way of life now and I love it, I was like ‘What is that?’ I really didn’t think about writing for The Exies again until it started haunting me.”

Ocean Grove Sign To SharpTone Records + Share Video For "FLY AWAY"

Today, a new chapter rises for the electrifying Melbourne heavy trio Ocean Grove, with the band announcing the launch of its very own label, ODDWORLD Records, as well as their signing to SharpTone Records outside of Australia and New Zealand.

Ocean Grove have also unleashed a sonic sucker punch in the form of a brand new single "FLY AWAY," with the trio returning to their salient nu metal traditions.

A blistering concoction of downtuned verses, thunderous grooves, rap vocals and '90s-level grit, "FLY AWAY" is an instant Oddworld masterpiece ready to whip you into a palpitating frenzy.
