THE PULL OF AUTUMN announces fifth album, releases lead track 'I Was Just Dreaming', paying tribute to Scotland's The Orchids

"A gem... A genuine and welcome earworm" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Beautiful... Pure and simple. Lyrically emotional and thought-provoking. It has perfect instrumentation and musicality" ~ Spill Magazine

"Better to travel well than to arrive... this band is not about merely travelling, this is exploration down the unbeaten paths of the glorious unknown" ~ The Swindonian

US-based art-pop group The Pull of Autumn is back with a new album, having accumulated a wealth of new material since their 2022 album 'Beautiful Broken World' LP, which involved such music luminaries as The Pop Group's Mark Stewart, Living Colour's Doug Wimbish and producer Adrian Sherwood,

The lead track 'I Was Just Dreaming' is a wistful taster of the collective's fifth album 'Memory Tree', featuring Boston-based artist Bruce MacLeod on vocals. Described as "a melancholy remembrance of moments in time and life", the album will be released via Boston-based RBM Records on CD and digitally.

The Pull of Autumn is a ‘super group’ of sorts, orbiting around Rhode Island artist Daniel Darrow of 80s post-punk group Johanna’s House of Glamour and core members Bruce MacLeod, Matthew Darrow and Luke Skyscraper James (I.R.S. recording artist Fashion). Each release involves a revolving door of notable and emerging artists, both from the local music scene and further abroad. The band's debut 2018 eponymous album was followed by 'Afterglow' in 2019, 'Small Colors' in 2020 and 'Beautiful Broken World' in 2022.

"I love how 'I Was Just Dreaming' perfectly captures the moment of a dying crush, where you’re still all in enough to have your hopes, but are planning an exit - maybe one with a bit of a flourish. This song is brilliant. I just did the best I could with it, stripped what I had down to a couple of tracks, and sent it to Dan. He knows just what to do - here I like his choppy piano bits and the somewhere out there synth swells, perfect.  The song ends with a couple of the demo tracks spliced back in … a sort of accident, but definite nod to the title of the song," says Bruce MacLeod.

Daniel Darrow adds: "This is a cover of legendary Scotland band The Orchids. Bruce and I are both fans of Sarah Records and our cover of this song is our tribute to a great time in music. We’ve added a modern twist here that retains the core beauty of the song."

The new 'Memory Tree' album features contributions by such artists as Philip Parfitt (The Perfect Disaster), Ricky Humphrey (This Twisted Wreckage), San Francisco-based artists Leigh Gregory and Julius Manning, Berkeley singer-songwriter Sophia Campbell, and two local music legends - Rhode Island Rock’n Roll Hall of Fame inductee Paul Everett and producer, songwriter and artist Kraig Jordan

"For our new 'Memory Tree' album, the usual genre-bending music has been replaced by a well-defined continuous take on electro acoustic ambient music and jazz. I call this “night music”. It’s been created with a singular vision lyrically and musically, speaking to the past memories and touching upon what the future may hold. The album features many veteran Rhode Island artists, whose music has moved me for many years, as well as artists from around the world, including Britain and France," says Daniel Darrow.

'I Was Just Dreaming' is now available exclusively via Bandcamp, where the 'Memory Tree' album (out on May 31) can already be pre-ordered. As of May 31, this record can be obtained from fine digital music platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify.

Annie Bosko Finds Peace on "Higher Ground" ft. Vince Gill

After over a decade in the Nashville grind, a series of failed deals and a vocal cord injury, the pandemic prompted singer/songwriter Annie Bosko to move back home to California. In that moment, she made a promise to herself: she would return to Music City when she got a paying gig. In 2022 she was offered a booking and proudly came back to Nashville.

Performing solo, guitar in hand, she played a private event where, unbeknownst to her, GRAMMY award winner Vince Gill was in attendance. He was so impressed by her vocal prowess that he offered to collaborate on a song with her, giving her his number for when the right one came along.

That show — and his offer of support — reignited her belief in herself to pursue music with full-force and record her first album.

Bosko wrote “Higher Ground” with Gill’s voice in mind, and the result is a timeless collaboration.

“Sometimes it takes someone else believing in you to make you believe in yourself. I hope this message provides hope for those who are navigating tough times, like it did for me,” adds Bosko.

Written by Bosko with Tommy Sims, the message of “Higher Ground” is especially poignant this Easter weekend leading into Passover: a time of reflection and rebirth.

       These times are heavy
       And oh so dark
       My world is breaking apart
       Lord, won’t you lift me
       I’m falling down
       To Your higher ground

       This road keeps stretching
       It’s been awhile
I can’t keep walking one more mile
You can see clearly show me now
       To Your higher ground

Higher ground above all the madness
Higher ground safe from the sadness
When I’m weary let my soul be found
       On higher ground

“Higher Ground” follows her self-titled EP featuring five songs including lead single “Neon Baby,” which found Bosko making her late night debut on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” earlier this year.

Having recently made her international debut at C2C: Country to Country in Glasgow with a solo acoustic set to a sold-out arena, Bosko will perform on festival stages across the U.S. this spring and summer, including Tortuga Music Festival, Stagecoach, CMA Fest, Country Jam, Faster Horses and Watershed Festival.

About Annie Bosko
With a voice that beams like a ray of California sunshine, Stone Country Records/Brown Sellers Brown Management singer-songwriter Annie Bosko pairs a sound anchored deep in the organic twang of ‘90s country with simple songs told from the heart, preaching equal parts healing and honky-tonk hope. A student of legendary crooners like Patsy Cline with added inspiration from Shania Twain, George Strait, Dwight Yoakam, The Beatles and more, the Golden State native broke out in 2014 with the SiriusXM/CMT hit “Crooked Halo,” bucking the bro-country trend for a traditionally flavored anthem that has now amassed more than 3 million streams. She went on to write songs recorded by Willie Nelson and Jessica Simpson, tour alongside Tim McGraw, Dierks Bentley and Blake Shelton, sell out the famed Troubadour and perform on the Grand Ole Opry and at Ryman Auditorium–the fabled Mother Church of Country Music–while also becoming an in-demand studio vocalist and earning the title Artist to Watch from rolling Stone Country. After a series of standout collaborations with country icons Vince Gill, Dwight Yoakam and Raul Malo, she is now embracing her true nature for creative rejuvenation. Working with producers Derek George and Mickey Jack Cones, a new batch of music pairs unapologetic twang, clever wordplay, and deep compassion with her long standing downhome-diva vocal, capturing the full range of timeless American art in its purest form. In 2023, Bosko released the powerful-yet-tender ballad “Dandelions” in memory of the victims of Nashville’s Covenant School shooting–a track written alongside Danny Myrick which has now become a beacon of community remembrance and faith. Lost in grief and capturing the reverberating shock of that day’s unfathomable loss, the track has been embraced by the Covenant School families themselves, with all proceeds being donated for their benefit through ACM Lifting Lives. Her five-song EP Annie Bosko is available now, featuring sharp-yet-simple, pure-country songs written or co-written with hitmakers like Jeffrey Steele, Bridgette Tatum and more, all aimed at uplifting, inspiring or just singing along with women and country-music lovers everywhere.

Formed in the summer of 2019, The Lonely Ones are a four piece, vocal-oriented hard rock band with an ear for melody and a taste for success. The group features Marty McCoy on guitar / vocals, Tommy Johnson on drums, Jymmy Tolland on guitar / vocals and Tru Roberts on bass / vocals. Being no strangers to the hardships of the music industry, The Lonely Ones consist of former members of Bobaflex. Together, they knew what they wanted and knew how to get it; by combining their knowledge and experiences to achieve a common goal. With determined perseverance and an energized drive to triumph, they were ready to release their first two singles independently in March of 2020; with the titles “Eternal Sadness" and "The Lonely One."

A few months after their initial introduction to the world of rock, the band decided to take a major leap of faith and release their re-imagined version of Queen's classic song "Flash." There’s always the risk of scrutiny and criticism when it comes to covering classic songs, especially ones that are still regarded with high praise from the still thriving fan base, but the band was confident their rendition would not only honor the original but also garner renewed attention for the hit theme. Any doubts were squashed when the song and video were met with rave reviews, including those of Brian May from Queen and Sam J. Jones, Flash Gordon himself.

Brian May was quoted as saying, “What a fantastic cover! I didn’t realize they were going to go into The Hero and the whole reprise ... magnificent!"

Sam J Jones adds, "This is one of the best covers I have ever heard and seen. What a gifted group - The Lonely Ones are for every one of us, from the 1980’s to right now!"

Humbled by the response from fans, listeners and legends in the entertainment industry, the band was spurred on in their pursuit to create groundbreaking original music. In September of 2020, The Lonely Ones released another brand new single titled "Real Big Trouble." What started out as a fun and creative session quickly turned out to be one of their most rewarding. This is one of the heaviest songs the band has ever written, but it also gives a look into what sounds inspire them, such as Thin Lizzy and Beartooth.

By February of 2021, the band had signed on with Imagen Records and released another single called “Change the Station.” This release had 9 active rock stations add the single in the first week and they were a feature artist on Spotify's Rock Hard editorial playlist as well as over 100 other playlists in the first week as well.

The next release through Imagen was "Dyin' All Night Long" in June of 2021. A song about an abusive relationship and how often times excuses are made over and over for that person. The lyrics come from the perspective of a victim having had enough of it.

The band released two more singles titled "Gettin' High" (2021) and “The Way Out”(2022) via Imagen Records before ultimately going independent.
The band spent the summer of 2022 getting back to the grind and writing new songs. The Lonely Ones’ released "Bedroom Door" in October of 2022.

The Lonely Ones have played shows with Sevendust, Nonpoint, Fozzy, Royal Bliss, Seven Year Witch, Black Top Mojo, September Mourning and many more.

In addition, the band is endorsed by: Orange Amps, Westone Audio, Pearl Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Evan's Heads, Vater Sticks, Ibanez, Frog Amplification, Tech 21 Amplification, Michael Kelly Guitars, SIT Strings, Rare Buzz Effects and Strüng, which is guitar string jewelry that raises money for music education.

The Lonely Ones are:
Marty McCoy - guitar / vocals
Tristan Woodruff - drums
Jymmy Tolland - guitar / vocals
Tru Roberts- bass / vocals

Two Headed Horse presents 'Shimmer' single, a remarkable emergence with Mark Gardener & Tim Burgess backing

"Seemingly simple songmanship, catchy melodicism, great momentum, soothing vocals and a beautiful blend of genres, Two Headed Horse offers a stunning work of musical art here. Indisputably, on ‘Shimmer’, they not only strike a positive chord – they also achieve perfect harmony" ~ The Spill Magazine

UK indie-folk outfit Two Headed Horse presents ‘Shimmer’, a winding and unraveling track about memories becoming entangled in myth. With newfound support from Chris Hawkins at BBC6 Music, this is the second single from their debut EP, entitled ‘I’m Not Hidden’. Slated for release in early summer, it was engineered, mixed and mastered by Mark Gardener at his OX4 Sound studio in Oxfordshire.

Two Headed Horse is James Gable (vocals, guitar), Tristan Gable (keys, guitar, backing vocals), Gary Hanratty (bass, backing vocals) and Leigh Baines (drums). Arriving on the London music scene in late 2023, they brought chaos, intimacy and the debut single 'See For Miles (Bounder’s Motif)' right out of the gate, followed by 'Horatio Sees Ghosts' soon afterwards. After two sold-out shows in January, they added another at the famous Troubadour in February 2024.

Two Headed Horse’s music recently got the attention of The Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess while they were touring the USA with Ride earlier this year. Through Help Us Help Bands, Burgess assisted them to get our debut EP over the line and to reach a wider audience. The band has since been booked to play Kendal Callingin August.

With layered guitars and ethereal piano, their music is, at times, dreamlike. Restrained, melodic bass and light, restless drums give way to a sudden flash of clarity, demanding attention as the listener is asked to wonder what it means to look back, and what they will see when they do.

"When a band comes in like this, before you know, you feel and sense that intangible magic that something special is happening. It’s a transcendental kind of feeling, like being moved and transported by the band away somewhere warm and wonderful in your mind without physically leaving the room. It’s for those moments like that I built and work in this studio for," says Mark Gardener.

"I was totally moved by this band and these songs and especially ’Shimmer’ which stood out for me as a single.  There’s no rocket science or studio trickery here in any way it’s just the sound of a great band playing live together and it was a total pleasure to capture these recordings and moments”.

Last month, the quartet released the single ‘I’m Not Hidden’, described as having a "living, breathing sense of art and emotion'. This stripped back, open-tuned acoustic ballad is about returning to yourself after a long while. Now 'Shimmer' brings them one step closer to the EP release.

"We’ve been itching to release 'Shimmer' ever since we heard Mark’s final mix. It was one of those songs that was enjoyable to write - actually two pieces of music I was working on sort of bolted together that worked perfectly. In terms of lyrics, it’s a reflection of an attempted mugging that happened on a bridge in Reading, where my guitar was nearly stolen. The song is quite dreamlike with a sudden awakening a minute and a half in with the words ‘look back’, which were shouted across the bridge. So the song is as if remembering the events as you’re drifting off to sleep, but memory becomes confused with myth and the words conjure Orpheus and Eurydice, as comparisons with the story haunt the narrator. As the song is two pieces of music, the lyrics are two threads also, one happening above on a bridge and one, you could say, reflected in the river below," says James Gable.

"We played the song for a few months before shaking up the whole arrangement. It felt like we spent session after session trying to nail down the right vibe for it. There was a lot of head scratching, but once we locked in recording dates, the deadline helped us be more objective. It’s also quite technically challenging for us, so we really feel a sense of achievement when we play it live and get it bang on!"

As of March 26, 'Shimmer' will be available from fine digital music platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp. The band's debut EP will be released in late summer. The band will play Kendal Calling this year, appearing on Tim Burgess' curated Tim Peaks stage.

The Nomadic Release New Single “All Changed" + Official Music Video

Following on from the release of first single “Treading Water” from the upcoming New Horizons album, The Nomadic releases new single “All Changed”.

Singer Songwriter Rob Gaylard relocated home to Sydney Australia in February 2022 after 5 years as a regular feature of the New York City indie rock scene. He recorded New Horizons with Dan Frizza in Sydney at Forbes Studios. The Nomadicis the best of Aussie rock talent, with Miles Thomas (Lior, Ronan Keating, Montaigne) on drums, Oliver Thorpe (The Whitlams, Matt Corby, Meg Mac) on guitar, and Brendan Clark (Meg Mac, Montaigne, Jack River) on bass. Dan Frizza as producer lends the kind of magic touch that has seen him enrich the work of the likes of Tones & I, King Princess, and Gurrumul.

"All Changed" is a melancholic rock ballad which explores the themes of big life changes growing up, forming close relationships, breaking up, changing jobs/ careers, changing mindset, staying resilient and growing and developing through pain and heartache. The song builds up from a melodic verse and bridge, into the crescendo of an uplifting and rocky chorus “we’re all changed… scars are open… wounds are showing in the light.” As the song progresses, the listener has the sensation of being trapped underwater with the ocean seeping into ones’ body (a sensation enhanced by the gentle but urgent vocal tones of “I can feel it seeping through my brain”).

Singer songwriter Rob Gaylard notes: “'All Changed' is one of the most personal Nomadic songs. Throughout my Nomadic life I have made friends all over the world, and what has struck me is how there is so much more that unites us than divides us. Our hopes, ambitions, dreams and passions, and our struggles- core beliefs, questions of self-worth and self-belief, imposter syndrome, and mental health struggles of anxiety, depression, addiction and multi generational trauma. As we grow and evolve, we are inevitably 'all changed' by the struggles, challenges and opportunities that life presents. The song is therefore a tribute to everyone who goes through life’s hardships and struggles, and comes out the other side, resiliently endeavouring to show up each day as their best self!"

The music video, released today on YouTube, explores the themes of love, loss, friendship,
forgiveness, addiction, and recovery.

WATCH it below.

Australian guitarist and singer/songwriter Robert Gaylard brings a unique perspective and vision when it comes to creating music. His inspiration and passion for starting The Nomadic began early on as a child after traveling to many countries like Myanmar (formerly Burma), Singapore and the Solomon Islands. His “nomadic” lifestyle continued on into his adulthood when he began to work for the United Nations in various countries such as: Kenya, Somalia, the Sudan, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Israel and Palestine. His travels eventually brought him to New York in September of 2012 and motivated him to pursue his songwriting by establishing an indie rock band.

The Nomadic released its debut single "Drifting" in September of 2019, "Waiting"was released in April of 2020; "Beyond Blue" and "Manhattan View" in June; "Walk the Streets" in October; and "Jeannie" in January 2021. Influenced by artists like Oasis, Radiohead, The Verve, Bruce Springsteen, Phosphorescent, The War on Drugs, Arizona and The 1975, The Nomadicproduces a sound genre like no other as alternative rock meets blues with hints of Americana and pop.

Having been originally influenced by numerous cultures and ways of life, The Nomadic promotes and advocates for issues of social action and innovation, human rights, support for minorities, as well as doing the next right thing, including the idea that it is never too late, including for people to follow their dreams and passions.

New Orleans dark duo The Palace of Tears presents 'The Embers of Your Being Glow Still', previewing new album Dark Ethereal album 'Veiled Screen, Woven Dream' is out April 8

New Orleans dark duo The Palace of Tears has announced their sophomore album 'Veiled Screen, Woven Dream'. A transmission of aural experiences and transmutational frequencies, this seven-track collection will be released on April 8. Ahead of that, they present the bewitching single 'The Embers of Your Being Glow Still' and spectacular video for 'woven remix' of the title track.

Hauntingly beautiful, ghostly and sensual, this fan-funded seven-track album represents “the transformational fires of the Phoenix archetype and the cyclic nature of death and rebirth”.

The Palace of Tears is Leah Kahn aka LV Darkling (vocalist, lyricist) and Erick r Scheid (guitars, electronics, engineering), who met in Germany in 2018 when Erick was performing with his band Mercurys Antennae at the world-renowned WGT Festival. After a collaborative exercise in co-writing long distance, the duo released their debut album 'Of Ruination' in 2020 with Erick also moving from the Bay Area to join LV in New Orleans.

Delving into hidden truths and secrets, pain and grief from personal loss, and the soul's journey, 'Veiled Screen, Woven Dream' is informed by personal experiences and tragedy, including an unforeseen and agonizing turning point in its creation. Yet this process became a crucial component in the process of moving through grief and pain towards healing.

This record is an exploration of your shadow-self and entering the realm of darkness and the unconscious and subconscious, which lay just beyond our conscious awareness. The lyrics incite contemplation of the soul’s journey as it departs from this mortal coil, beholding that mystery of the veil between the seen and unseen worlds.

"This album is dedicated to my brother, best friend and soulmate Kirk, who left this Earthly realm last October. I would be remiss to not mention my own recent personal loss, as I would be denying and omitting the special place that it holds in the journey of the making of this album. I truly have never known grief until now. There are songs on this album that remain difficult for me to listen to, let alone actually perform and sing, as I usually end up in tears," says LV Darkling.

"My brother's death has probably been the most unthinkable and unimaginably painful experience I've ever had in my life. His passing was sudden, violent, and traumatic. I am a suicide survivor. As vulnerable as it is to share some of this here, I am propelled by the deep spiritual connection that he and I held throughout our lives. He is inherently a part of this work, perhaps collaborating with us from beyond. It does seem worth stating that this type of loss and grief falls into a different category, and it also seems important to reach out to others through a medium as cathartic as music. I hope that by channeling this, and honoring those we love, it can provide a healing catalyst and human connection can be unearthed."

With somber beauty and otherworldly seduction, The Palace of Tears fuses hypnotic electronics, heavily layered processed guitars and operatic contralto vocals that captivate, creating an ethereal sonic amalgam that transcends temporal boundaries. Their unique alchemy blends elements of ethereal wave, gothic rock, shoegaze, dark ambient and electronica, encapsulated within a lush cinematic soundscape.

No stranger to the world of performance, New Orleans native LV Darkling is a classically-trained dancer and vocalist, who brings a varied and textured approach to her singing and songwriting, pulling from her many disciplines in the performing arts.

Erick r Scheid is best known for his band Mercurys Antennae (Projekt Records), who released 3 albums and 2 EPs, as well as performing at Whitby Goth Festival, All Tomorrows Ghosts and WGT Festival. A self-taught recording engineer, Erick has been writing and producing music since 1989, and has also composed film soundtracks, performed and written scores as a live musician for dance performances, touring extensively throughout the US.

Having toured the USA, The Palace of Tears has shared the stage with artists such as Kaelan Mikla, Pink Turns Blue, AL1CE, Solar Fake, Rosegarden Funeral Party, The Veldt, Slow Crush, Dead Leaf Echo, Pilgrims of Yearning, Astari Nite, The Waning Moon and The Neuro Farm, in addition to performing at Dark City Festival (New Orleans) and Dark Castle Festival (Louisville).

'The Embers of Your Being Glow Still' is now available as a Bandcamp exclusive. Already available for pre-order, the 'Veiled Screen, Woven Dream' album will be released on April 8 available on CD and Limited Edition Vinyl, as well as digitally.

VK LYNNE Releases New Single "There is Nothing" feat. Joel Hoekstra and Marco Pastorino

VK Lynne, renowned for her work with stOrk and The Spider Accomplice, releases the third single from her new solo record , The Spider Queen, today, March 22, 2024. This latest release, "There is Nothing," written by VK Lynne delves deep into the realm of hard rock, featuring the legendary Joel Hoekstra (Whitesnake, TSO, Cher) on lead guitar and Marco Pastorino (Serenity, Temperance) on guest vocals. The single is a hard rock lament on the feelings of futility when trying to find hope in current society.

The single was co -written and produced by Cody Johnstone and mastered by Maor Appelbaum.

Accompanying the release is the official music video that can be seen below.

WATCH VK Lynne- "There is Nothing" (Feat. Marco Pastorino & Joel Hoekstra):

The LA- based singer/songwriter/frontwoman brings her plethora of eclectic musical experiences together on The Spider Queen. In the 2000’s she churned out 3 full-length blues rock records The Key of V, Black Halo, and Whiskey or Water. After the release of the latter, Lynne spent from 2010-2023 developing, writing, and singing with symphonic metal project Vita Nova, writing and singing for prog metal juggernaut stOrk, and finally, forming, writing, and performing with symphonic rock duo The Spider Accomplice.

The diverse genres of these endeavors come together on The Spider Queen to create a sound that she has dubbed ‘blues metal.’

In 2023, she toured North America and Eastern Europe with the The Spider Accomplice, supporting symphonic metal act Visions of Atlantis and rock/glam metal duo Hoekstra Gibbs, respectively. The latter tour introduced Lynne, Hoekstra, and Pastorino, and laid the groundwork for this current collaboration.

The Spider Queen is being released, one track per month with its accompanying video, the entire year of 2024.

Alt-Pop Star Dela Kay Drops Sizzling New Single "Nasty"

Alt-Pop sensation Dela Kay has once again captivated audiences with the release of her latest single, "Nasty." Co-written by Dela Kay herself, the track is a bold departure from her previous works, showcasing a daring

and uninhibited side of the artist. Dela Kay reveals, "I got together with friends and co-writers, Ryan and Cas (Jordan A Casty), and I wanted to write a song that was different from all my other songs. I wanted to express another side of myself I don't really share with my fans. Something that felt very 'in your face' and almost a fantasy type of song, showcasing what I feel is my alter ego, allowing myself to be blunt, sexy and just have a bit more fun."

True to her vision, "Nasty" incorporates a diverse range of musical elements, including pop, trap moments, and rock, all while maintaining an alternative sound at its core. Dela Kay's exploration of her wild side is evident throughout the track, as she fearlessly embraces themes of sexuality and empowerment. Reflecting on the creative process behind the single, Dela Kay shares, "We started messing with this guitar riff I had saved in my voice memos, and soon after playing it over and over the melody and phrase 'nasty' came through. From there, we ran with the idea and had a lot of fun with it."

Despite initial reservations, Dela Kay ultimately decided to share "Nasty" with the world, driven by the overwhelmingly positive feedback she received. The song serves as a reminder to listeners to embrace their sexuality unapologetically and to revel in their own desires. "It's about not being afraid to own your sexuality, no matter how you identify, and not being afraid to demand what you want and feel sexy," says Dela Kay. "We all are secretly a little bit of a freak, so why not have fun with it. Being nasty is hot." With its infectious energy and empowering message, "Nasty" is poised to become a standout addition to Dela Kay's repertoire, solidifying her status as a trailblazing force in the alt-pop scene.

MORE INFO:
Dela Kay
, who hails from the vibrant music scene of Nashville, TN, draws inspiration from artists such as The Maine, Maggie Lindemann, Paramore, and Avril Lavigne. “Nasty” follows the success of her previous singles, "IDWTAY" and "Let You Down," which have amassed over 210K streams and secured a spot on Shazam's Best New Music Apple Playlist. Dela Kay, who identifies as a songwriter first and foremost, believes that this phase of her career is her most authentic to date. With a commitment to releasing a series of singles throughout the rest of this year, she is determined to leave a lasting impression and make her mark on the music industry with her unique voice and perspective.

In 2014, her electro-pop style began to emerge through a collaboration with Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and producer, Femke Weidema; which eventually led to her first electro-pop/European-infused single release, “9 out of 10,” as Dela Kay in 2016. Named by Earmilk as an artist who was gifted “with a rich, distinctive vocal style” for her 2018 release of “Make You Mine,” Dela Kay went on to continue releasing singles and garnering hundreds of thousands of streams. In 2019 Dela Kay released “All My Love” through Sony Music,

which ended up charting 49 on the top 150 global artist charts for Digital Radio Tracker as well as in the top ten for the Top Independent Charts. The release of “Think About You” shortly followed, which ended up becoming Dela’s highest-streamed song to date with almost 800k streams and counting. After a brief hiatus, Dela Kay marked her return by debuting a new, more alternative sound in 2021 with the release of “The Worst Part,” via Wonderland Magazine.

Encouraged by the positive feedback, Dela Kay delved deeper into this new sound with the release of "Old News," a collaboration with Ryan Dulude and Rikki Jo Randall. Closing out 2022, Dela Kay touched hearts with "Daughter," a poignant song dedicated to her father. This track marked a departure from her usual upbeat style, embracing a more folk-driven alternative sound, rich in vulnerability and cinematic storytelling. With the release of “Let You Down” in 2023, Dela Kay began her new journey with a wave of fresh content continuing throughout 2024. Looking ahead, Dela Kay plans to embark on a West Coast tour in the spring and summer, bringing her music and unique brand of storytelling to audiences far and wide.

Jordyn Shellhart x Donovan Woods “Search My Name” Out Now

Warner Music Nashville singer/songwriter Jordyn Shellhart is continuing to share her own brand of conversational country with latest release, “Search My Name” featuring Donovan Woods. Listen to “Search My Name” HERE. Watch the lyric video Below.

“Donovan Woods is a dear friend and one of my favorite artists in the world,” Shellhart shares. “When he sent me an early version of the idea for this song, I simply fell in love with it. Social media makes everyone insane, and as it turns out Donovan and I are included in that insanity, so this is a song about that.

“Getting to write and sing a song with Donovan, 10-out-of-10 would highly recommend.”

The airy and uptempo track was written by Shellhart, Ava Suppelsa, Robyn Dell-Unto and Donovan Woods and produced by Cameron Jaymes. The song finds Shellhart and Woods examining what the early blushes of a crush look like in the social media age and the self-doubt we can feel based on our online presence.

The new music follows Shellhart’s recent release “A Nice Thing to Do” featuring Charlie Worsham with Billboard opining the duo possessed “relaxed vocal styles, which bubble atop clean, graceful pop-country production.” These new collaborations come on the heels of a breakout 2023 for the Wyoming native who was named a member of 2024’s CMT Listen Up Class following the release of her cozy Christmas EP, Cross-Legged By The Fireplace, and debut album, Primrose, which garnered critical acclaim on multiple year-end best of lists.

“‘Ethereal country-pop’ is the best way to describe the debut album from Jordyn Shellhart, who writes with vulnerability and potent detail on Primrose,” lauded Stereogum, naming the 12-track project one of the “Best Country Albums of 2023,” while noting it’s “a perfect album for those who dreamt of an acoustic twangier version of Midnights.”

“A collection that offers immense career promise,” boasted Billboard upon its release, with Country Now declaring it “a work of pure artistry that will take listeners on a unique musical journey,” while Nashville Lifestyles observes Shellhart “jumps the line of intriguing new songsmiths with her debut…evocative in style and voice.”

About Jordyn Shellhart:
Like a coming-of-age novel chronicling the heroine's passage from childhood to womanhood, singer/songwriter Jordyn Shellhart's 12-track Primrose ventures from joyful to introspective, providing intimate yet vivid glimpses into the Wyoming-native's most formative moments and milestones. Although her first full album for Warner Music Nashville, its refinement and sophistication stems from more than a decade as a signed writer, earning cuts by Little Big Town, Kelsea Ballerini, Cody Johnson and Don Williams. Whether asking "Who Are You Mad At," crooning over not the loss of a lover but of their mother in "Tell Your Mother I'm Fine" or the retrospective "Maybe Someday You'll Have A Daughter," Shellhart's Primrose is the first chapter in what is sure to be a storied career.

Kenny Chesney's BORN Is Here; 15 Songs, "Sunday TODAY" & A Lotta No Shoes Nation

Four years... songs camps... good friends... crazy great musicians... new collaborators... writing songs to distill life, making music for all the reasons. Kenny Chesney didn’t see it coming, didn’t set out to make an album. Instead, he’s spent the time since the world shut down playing music with friends, scraping bits of life into lyrics and melodies, listening to songs he loved and recording when the moment struck with longtime collaborator Buddy Cannon. After all that, BORN is born.

“I can’t call it a process, because we never set out to make a record, just explore songs and moments for the sake of music,” Chesney offers. “All of sudden, time had passed and somehow we had all these songs that looked like different pieces of who I – and just about everyone in No Shoes Nation, too – am.

“It wasn’t a master plan. There was no theme we’re singing about that holds it together. But if you listen to all 15 songs, you’ll get the high energy fun, chasing adventures, don’t let people get you down piece and you’ll get the more reflective thinking about someone who’s died, the person you know you shouldn’t call emotions that have always been in the music, too.”

Whether the rush of “Just To Say We Did,” the chasing adventure “One More Sunset,” the sweeping drama of “One Lonely Island,” or the naughty no-strings delight of “Guilty Pleasure,” as well as the driving “Long Gone” and chilled philosophizing of “This Too Shall Pass,” BORN offers a bunch of feel good to make a crazy world feel better. On the other end of the spectrum, Chesney gets contemplative with “Come Here, Go Away,” the passage of time healer “The Way I Love You Now,” the pensive female freedom of “Top Down” and the album closing toast to those who’ve passed away “Wherever You Are Tonight.”

“Making music to make music, suddenly there’s room for a few road trip songs like ‘One More Sunset’ or ‘Just To Say We Did,’ songs that sound like me and my buddies growing up,” says the eight-time Entertainer of the Year. “And you don’t worry as much about having a few songs that are more introspective, or looking at the tough spots of letting go like ‘Thinkin’ Bout’ and ‘Come Here, Go Away,’ which everyone’s lived through.

“When you listen to ‘Born,’ there’s a whole lot of truth about living, life, the big questions and what we’re all trying to experience. That banjo out front really throws you into the song, which feels great. I love a lyric that throws out all the options, but it never actually tells you what to do. Here it comes down to one existential truth, no matter who you are or what you’re chasing: ‘one thing’s for certain, we’ve all been living since the day we were born.’”

After all these months, No Shoes Nation can finally unpack all the moods and moments that make BORN Chesney’s most far-reaching album to date. With “Take Her Home” cresting the Top 10, three layers of rehearsals under way for the Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour and Chesney on “Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist” this weekend, the time has arrived for new music to set the tone for another summer of tailgates and stadiums for No Shoes Nation.

FLAT BLACK Drop "NOTHING TO SOME" Feat. Corey Taylor — WATCH

Guitarist Jason Hook introduced his new band FLAT BLACK last year.

The former Five Finger Death Punch guitarist teamed up with a trio of young and talented musicians and signed with Fearless Records for its debut album, the details of which are TBA. The album, produced by Hook and Chris Collier (Korn), was recorded at both Hook's home studio and The Hideout.

Today, the band has shared a fierce and fiery new single with "NOTHING TO SOME," featuring a vocal cameo from Slipknot's Corey Taylor.

Watch the lyric video and listen to the song below

"NOTHING TO SOME" is a rager that is destined to land on year-end "best of" lists and in repeat rotation in your preferred music listening service. Bolstered by anthemic riffs, battering ram percussion, and full on rhythmic thrust, Taylor's vicious vocals sound as though he gargled with razor blades and battery acid before spewing his parts, and it's a beautiful thing. All of that, combined with a classic metallic influence that is threaded through the song, makes "Nothing to Some" a seriously definitive moment for Flat Black.

"'NOTHING TO SOME' features the brutal and unapologetic Corey Taylor," Hook says. "This guy is a bottomless pit of creativity and delivered a vocal that perfectly matched what I wanted for this track. The guitar solo is unique on the album in the way that I let it rip with no rhythm guitars underneath. Now that I'm in a one-guitar band, I could strip it down and let it be as raw as Corey is on the vocal track. I remember hammering out live takes with Rob pounding away next to me. It was inspiring."

ABOUT FLAT BLACK:
"I feel like FLAT BLACK is a secret I've been keeping for three years," Hook says. "It's finally time to unleash this band on the world. I'm grateful to Sully from Godsmack for giving us the chance to get out on the road and play for such an amazing group of fans."

Despite having reached a commercial summit with his prior band, thanks to multiple platinum certifications, sold-out arena shows, and a string of No. 1 singles, Hook remains as hungry for musical blood and thunder as the day he first picked up a guitar at the age of six. He is eager to not only replicate but to surpass his past successes with his new band.

Having left his prior band in February 2020, which was right before COVID-19 put the entire world on pause, Hook wanted to assume creative control and let his musical free spirit soar in a project that was truly his. He opted to gamble on himself. With great risk comes great reward and the decision to form FLAT BLACK clearly worked out in his favor.

"As a musician, I crave freedom and I wasn't ready to stop creating," Hook shares.

"Life is short," he continues. "We all want to feel satisfied and happy with what we are trying to accomplish in life."

The pandemic shutdown allowed him the opportunity to assemble the right musicians and carefully craft their debut album. FLAT BLACK are armed with an arsenal of riffs that'll rattle your teeth loose from your gums, stadium-sized hooks, arena-ready anthems, and choruses that are guaranteed to touch a nerve. All of those factors combined make FLAT BLACK poised for success.

The origin stories of the rest of the players are indicative of a lifelong love of music and plenty of road-worn experience. The desire to play courses through their veins and propels them forward, which is why they all meshed so well with Hook.

Singer Wes Horton was introduced to music at age 13, thanks to his sister and Guitar Hero. He honed his vocal chops by playing in local bands and making online videos. Various music industry friends and acquaintances would become the connective tissue between himself and Hook. Horton knew he wanted to be a frontman, and FLAT BLACK afforded him that opportunity. Wes loves the fact that his bandmates prioritize songcraft — and that allows him to be the singer he has always wanted to be.

Bassist Nick Diltz, who was born and raised in Los Angeles, is the son of a legendary rock music photographer who brought him to concerts during his formative years. He recalls being inspired by watching a VHS video of U2 performing at legendary venue Red Rocks. Seeing fans clamoring for a piece of Bono in the footage is a vision that never left his head. This first exposure to the power of a true rock icon solidified Nick's destiny as a live performer.

Drummer Rob Pierce hails from Nashville, aka Music City. His dad was a race car driver and his grandfather was a pastor. He grew up racing go karts and at first, wanted to follow in his dad's footsteps until he joined the fourth grade band and was bitten by the music bug. He chose the snare drum over the saxophone and from that moment on, music was the only thing that mattered. Rob got his first drum kit at age 11, which he set up in his dad's car shop. He learned to play his instrument next to 1,000 horsepower engines, which influences his highly energetic style to this day.The chemistry between the players in FLAT BLACK is palpable. And while FLAT BLACK's songs are built to take up real estate in the brains of fans for weeks at a time, the true nature of the band's material is meant to be experienced live. FLAT BLACK are now ready to hit the road and bring these brutal bangers to the masses live and in the flesh.

FLAT BLACK ARE:
Jason Hook — Guitar
Wes Horton — Vocals
Rob Pierce — Drums
Nicholas Diltz — Bass

Brodequin Streaming New Album

For a band that's so closely associated with The Dark Ages, Brodequin sure carried the torch for underground metal during the early 2000s. Brothers Jamie and Mike Bailey carved their names into the rusty annals of death metal lore on just the brute strength of their debut. But after feasting amidst a festival of death, gluttons for punishment were left spinning in agony when the band disappeared without a bloody trace.

Now, at long last, aural masochists don't have to wait and bleed for more merciless methods of execution. The Bailey brothers are back with a new drummer and the first new Brodequin album in 20 years.

Harbinger of Woe comes out this Friday, March 22. But you can receive its full beating today by submitting to  Season of Mist's YouTube channel.

Listen to Harbinger of Woe Below

Pre-order:https://shop.season-of-mist.com/list/brodequin-harbinger-of-woe

Harbinger of Woe is classic Brodequin. The opening song pauses for a beat or two just to relish the cries from its captive audience. Otherwise, the album never relents in bludgeoning you with brutal death metal. There is nothing gentle about "The Fall of the Leaf", which whips by harsh enough to tear flesh from bone.

Like all of Brodequin's harrowed discography, Harbinger of Woe finds inspiration in the most torturous inventions known to man. "Suffocation in Ash" leads us inside an ancient Persian torture chamber, where new drummer Brennan Shackelford mercilessly buries the sorriest of sinners under a fine hail of blast beats and pinging cymbals.

But Brodequin brandish fresh instruments of torture on Harbinger of Woe. The vocals are still as dank and guttural as a dungeon, but Jamie mixes in ghostly screams that fade like blood splatter. And while Mike's palm-muted riffs still churn like severed limbs through a meat grinder, lead single "Of Pillars and Trees" branches out into tendrils of reverb that slowly tighten like a noose.

As torturous as it sounds, Harbinger of Woe isn't inhumane. With a breakdown that drops with the decisive force of a guillotine, the title track cracks open the  tormented psychology of a clinically trained executioner. "He is despised and rejected / feared by most members of society", Jamie gurgles as if bound and gagged by his own microphone.

"This album is a journey into a lost period of history where brutality and beauty coexist", he says. "Beauty, in the arts that were created, but also the beautiful brutality that was needed to engineer deadly devices like the brodequin”.

Look away if you must, but amongst true sickos, Harbinger of Woe is bound to be regarded as a truly vile work of art.

Early praise for Harbinger of Woe

" Like the sonic version of some chemical weapon banned by international law...it's non-stop, it's unrelenting, and it's brutal as fuck - Metal Sucks

"Absolutely crushing...equal parts driving death metal and slamming brutality" - Metal Injection

"Raw and guttural as ever" - Decibel

"Without a doubt, this is easily Brodequin's best album to date, and quite possibly the best brutal death metal album you will hear all year" - Metal Epidemic

"Fans have an expectation of what they will get from this band and it's safe to say that this record is a kick right in the face" - The Razors Edge

After signing with Season of Mist in 2022, Brodequin re-issued their entire discography on LP and CD.

"Relentless, barbaric intensity" - John Gallagher (Dying Fetus), who named Instruments of Torture one of the most brutal albums ever.

"Kicks in like a sledgehammer" - Metal Rage raved over Methods of Execution

"A merciless massacre" - Power Metal praised Festival of Death

The Middle Ages might’ve brought the world out of The Dark Ages. But for every compass or printing press, those enlightened thinkers were also responsible for inventing the most torturous devices in human history. None were more brutal than the brodequin. Not only did the French use this instrument to cripple their victims, but to squeeze their legs to the point where bone marrow would spill out of their wounds.

You could say the same about Brodequin. The band come with their own long and sordid history. Brothers Jamie and Mike Bailey have been playing brutal death metal since 1998. Putting his history degree to good use, Jamie’s lyrics are inspired by real historical events, staying true to death metal’s core thematic pillars of dismemberment, torture, abuse and murder. But their artwork broke from genre’s generic splatter illustrations by digging into intricate period woodcuts and beautifully grotesque oil paintings.

“There simply was no point in history that was more brutal than the medieval period,” says Jamie. “At the same time that such barbarity was deployed, there was also an explosion in fine art, architecture and music. It all comes to feed our identity as a band”.

Brodequin’s first album catapulted them far beyond their kingdom of Knoxville. “This band has stuck out in the underground with relentless, barbaric intensity”, says Dying Fetus’ vocalist and guitarist John Gallagher, who named Instruments of Torture one of the most brutal death metal albums ever. Festival of Death put another flesh-tearing arrow in their quiver (“Some of the fastest, most brutalizing death metal ever recorded” - Sputnik Music). But after sieging festival stages across Europe with Methods of Execution, the band had to be put on ice.

“We had a series of deaths in our family”, Jamie explains. “Mike and I knew we had to step away until we had the time and were at a place mentally to give Brodequin the attention it deserved.”

Now, after 20 years of peaceful silence, Brodequin have returned with fresh instruments of torture. The Brothers Bailey are back with a new drummer, a new label and their long-awaited fourth album.

“Brodequin had been away for so long that I was stunned by the level of interest from fans and record labels”, Jamie says. "Before playing Hellfest, the band was approached backstage by a metalhead rocking a Brodequin t-shirt who happened to work for Season of Mist. Soon enough, they were hitting it off with Michael Berberian. The rest, as they say, is history.

“We all hung out for hours”, recalls Jamie. “The extraordinary level of enthusiasm shown toward our music made Season of Mist the obvious choice”.

As has been the case with this band for their entire career, Harbinger of Woe lives up to its name. Lead single “Of Pillars and Trees” is classic Brodequin. Mike’s distorted guitar chords churn like limbs through a meat grinder. The way Brennan Shackelford pings, blasts and flays his snare through “Suffocation in Ash” with the all encompassing speed of a sandstorm. Jamie’s growls are so phlegmy, so rotted, that to drag them out from whatever dark bowel movement spawned them would make an executioner sick to their stomach. And yet — somewhere deep inside all that carnage hides a terrifying beauty. The title track leaves you deaf, dumb and blind, begging on your knees in the face of a punishing, almighty riff.

“This album is a journey into this lost period of history where brutality and beauty coexist. Beauty, in the arts that were created, but also the beautiful brutality that was needed to engineer deadly devices like the brodequin”.

With Harbinger of Woe, Brodequin reclaim their throne as the most brutal band in all of death metal.

Sylvaine Streaming New EP

"A true labor of love, an exploration of Norwegian heritage and of self-discovery and her work is truly nothing short of inspirational" - Chicago Music Guide

"Elegant, sublime, pure artistry...its impact can be felt for miles away" - Metal Temple

"This may be music that recalls Sylvaine's Nordic forbears, but it's also music for all of us, wherever we hail from, tugging at primal memories we can't fully comprehend" - Sentinel Daily

On her new EP, Sylvaine calls out from the deepest and darkest depths of emotion, only to reverberate with the ethereal power of her voice.

Eg Er Framand comes out this Friday, March 22. But you can listen to all six songs today on Season of Mist's YouTube channel.

Listen below.

Sylvaine has grown into a guiding light for ambient post-metal, but her second EP traces back to her earliest roots.

Kathrine Shepard grew up in Norway, amidst the contrasts between nature and urbanity, on the outskirts of downtown Oslo. While studying music, dance and drama in high school, she performed several times at the Kampen Church. This 19th century relic is where Kathrine recorded most of Eg Er Framand, which includes interpretations of traditional Norwegian folk songs, along with three of her own original songs to the cannon.

When Sylvaine first heard the title track, it hit her like no other song had before. Since then, she's shared "Eg Er Framand" with rapturous audiences everywhere, but this EP is the first time she's captured its magic on record. Each note is held with soft restraint, as if cupped into the palm of her hand, like an offering. Close your eyes and envision her reaching through the trees, into the shadows, as her feet slowly lift off the ground.

To this day, “Dagsens Augo Sloknar” still has mysterious origins, but the lyrics were written in 1891 by Elias Blix, a professor-turned-politician who also wrote hymns. Staying true to the original’s delicate, reverent melody, Sylvaine sings in a breathy, elongated whisper that’s haunting and soothing, like a shadow. But while it opens with just a steady hum of organ, her rendition ends by pulling you into a trance.

Eg Er Framand intimately explores the transient nature of humanity against a steady, familiar backdrop of Scandinavian landscapes. Ascend with Sylvaine into a land before time that feels both ancient and renewed.

Since Eg Er Framand was announced, Kathrine has been revealing its overarching narrative piece by piece. With the album's arrival on YouTube, she's now giving us its final chapter so that we can read the whole story from start to finish.

A beating heart so pure
Who wished to feel once more
As her eyes slowly opened to the world

She lifted her head
And at once beheld
A light in front of her

A path to take
The choice to make
To lead her on her way

A story about to begin
Of a soul ignited again
On a road to turn loose dismay

This guiding light
So strong and bright
Called out for her to follow

For this life
Could lead to strife
If her core she did not shadow

In heavy rags draped
With a spirit that ached
She started moving forward

As she stumbled thru
A dance of hope grew
The motion to leave her untethered

She reached out for the light
Yet darkness did not fight
To be unbroken, the two should marry

For truths she desired to meet
In this she happiness could seek
Releasing the clasp of woe and worry

This world may seem cold
And peace it might not hold
Yet so much beauty she encountered

But only for a moment in time
Does one get to experience this life
Accepting this gift, she no longer suffered

Sylvaine is embarking on her first-ever solo tour this summer. She'll be performing songs from Eg Er Framand on stages across Europe with her new Season of Mist labelmate Eivør.

"I'm so very excited to be heading out on my first-ever solo tour supporting none other than the wonderfully talented Eivør!", Kathrine says. "I'm honored to be sharing the stage with her and her musicians, and can't wait to showcase my music in a different format. It will be an intimate, emotionally heavy ride. October can't come soon enough!

Kathrine Shepard, the visionary artist behind the evocative musical project SYLVAINE, weaves an intricate tapestry of emotions through the language of music. A transcendental bridge between worlds, a mesmerizing duality that encapsulates the beautiful and the harsh, light and darkness, serenity and chaos, and the delicate balance between the external world and the inner sanctum of the soul. It is a symphony that harmonizes the human experience with its spiritual origins – a resonance of something beyond the tangible.

Sylvaine’s compositions are a visceral journey through the vast spectrum of emotions that the complexities of the human experience have to offer. They encapsulate the inherent struggle of being an entity in this world, yet not entirely of it. Kathrine’s music serves as a conduit for her innermost feelings, a cathartic expression of the eternal longing that resides within the very core of her melodies.

Akin to a fairytale spun from the threads of Norwegian folklore, a narrative that resonates with the spirits of ancient woods and the whispers of long forgotten creatures. With every ethereal note and haunting melody, she conjures images of untamed forests, of misty clearings inhabited by mystical beings. In this artistry, there is an undeniable sense of transcendence, where listeners are transported beyond the confines of the ordinary into a dreamscape where reality and fantasy converge. A profound sense of wonder and allure creates a unique musical alchemy – with a touch of enchantment that lingers long after the music has ceased.

With four albums and one split-EP released to date, Sylvaine’s ethereal soundscapes have been taken to stages across Europe, North America and South America, leaving audiences mesmerized by the transcendent power of the band’s live performances. Two of these albums have been nominated for the Norwegian Grammy Awards Spellemannprisen in the category of metal. Alt/Pop/Synthwave Artist, Arena, Releases New Single "What's Your Damage?"

Rochester, NY's Alt/Pop/Synthwave sensation, Arena, has just dropped a new single titled "What's Your Damage?" Now available across all major platforms, this track encapsulates a journey through introspection and realization.

Frontman Joey Arena shares insights into the song's inspiration, offering a poignant reflection on the aftermath of a breakup. "What's your damage?" he asks, delving into the complexities of understanding his former partner's behavior. In a moment of clarity, he recognizes that the issues at hand aren't solely his burden to bear, but rather stem from the unresolved damage within her. The desire to mend and make things right lingers, yet the cycle of turmoil persists.

"I think more than anything it was about reflecting on a breakup and realizing that it’s not you, it’s her. Like “what’s your damage” is asking her what her problem is? What damage was done to her that she treated you so badly? All you wanna do is fix it for her, make it right, etc and all she does is continue to create problems or have issues."

WATCH ARENA - “What’s Your Damage?” Official Video Below

After picking up his first guitar at the age of 10, Joey Arena knew there was no “Plan B,” music is his purpose. Making friends with the road at the age of 17 and living one night at a time, the stages grew bigger as did the fans along the way. Arena grew up in a city of arts, Rochester, NY. The home to household names such as Lou Gramm and Steve Gadd; a geographical foundation in which he’d build a music career.

VLTIMAS Streaming New Album

The members of VLTIMAS are all legends in their own right. David Vincent blessed the sick for Morbid Angel. Rune Eriksen made grand declarations of war as Mayhem's blasphemous axe man. No one is more vile than Flo Mounier, who's been drumming for Cryptopsy since their earliest exhumations of the underground. But on their second album together, VLTIMAS are mightier than ever.

EPIC comes out this Friday, March 15. But you can listen to the whole album today on Season of Mist's YouTube channel in partnership with Decibel magazine.

VLTIMAS have so much history under their bullet belts that some gatekeepers may have wondered if there were any new realms for them to conquer. After all, their first album was voted album of the year by BangerTV.

And yet - their new album boldy declares that these devils aren't content with merely living among the lords of chaos. Though written amongst the many comforts of Vincent's Texas ranch (long walks, plenty of booze) EPIC is dark, extreme and unrelenting. Everyone gets to flex their muscles. Rune rips off fiery riffs from all angles on blistering lead single "Miserere". Though it starts off as a slow burn, Flo blazes through "Scorcher" with blast beats that are so wickedly precise they belong in a museum. David's growl could still summon underground hordes to the alter of madness, but "Invictus" rolls out a new style of death metal vocals.

"I'll not be blinded and I'll never be for sale", he sings with a grizzled battle cry.

But EPIC amounts to a heck of a lot more than just the sum of VLTIMAS' devilish talents. It's a testament to everything these underground heroes have stood for the past 30 years: crushing speed, surgical precession, strength in one's own convictions.

Early Praise for EPIC

"VLTIMAS could hardly fail, given the pedigree of everyone involved, but this suggests that Vincent, Eriksen and Mounier are not leaving anything to chance. EPIC live up to its name and then some" - Blabbermouth (8/10)

"An album that is so varied that it could be heard a dozen times yet not be completely comprehended...it is sure to stand as one of the most original studio outings of the year" - Sonic Perspectives(8.9/10)

"A smooth and dynamic ride...you almost feel like you're listening to the soundtrack to a dark, theatrical play. It has that epic-ness to it, pun intended" - A&P Reacts

"Evil D has blessed us again with the fruits of one of his more recent ventures....a very solid sophomore effort for VLTIMAS" - Metal Injection (8/10)

"EPIC lives up to its title, treading the line between imperious grandeur and ridiculous pomposity" - Metal Hammer (4/5)

"A mix of black and death metal among other influences, EPIC represents a major victory for VLTIMAS' expanding team" - Metal Insider

"Any time you have a chorus with 'Die, Die, Die' - come on - that is classic" - Teeth of Divine

Extreme metal powerhouse VLTIMAS (pronounced 'uhl-tuh-mas') assault metaldom once more with their highly-anticipated sophomore album, EPIC, through Season of Mist. Featuring Norwegian guitarist Rune "Blasphemer" Eriksen (ex-Mayhem, RUÏM), American vocalist David Vincent (ex-Morbid Angel), and Canadian drummer Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy), the multinational quintet, rounded out by Dutch bassist Ype TVS (ex-Dodecahedron) and Portuguese guitarist João Duarte (Corpus Christii), continue to venture down their path. Moored by strength and integrity, VLTIMAS fortified their signature with wicked invention, as applauded by Decibel Magazine, BangerTV, Louder, and many others, on their debut, Something Wicked Marches In (2019). Singles "Miserere," "Scorcher," and "Invictus" showcase a band of musicians at the top of their game, united in their pursuit of oneness.

"We wrote every bit of EPIC together at my ranch in Dime Box, Texas," offers Vincent. "The writing sessions were as organic as they could be. There were times when, at the end of the night, Rune would take his guitar and play something ridiculous. Flo would play something even more ridiculous on top of it. I'd say to the guys, 'I need to capture this.' So, the magic [of VLTIMAS] is being in the same room together, discussing, playing, and recording music and everything else we're doing together. We have unbelievable camaraderie."

While the members of VLTIMAS are not atavists, their preferred creative methods are time-tested and battle-hardened. Technology has its place, but the group thrive when they're together, not separated by the world. Eriksen, renowned as a riff innovator, is more effective when he's got a highly capable sideman like Vincent or Mounier, whose drumming in Cryptopsy and his celebrated instructional Extreme Metal Drumming 101 DVD has proven to be a no-limits player, by his side. Whether it's the moody, angular attack of "Miserere," the wicked groove of "Mephisto Manifesto," or the dark fury of "Nature's Fangs," the chemistry and enterprise of VLTIMAS is undeniable.

"The main goal [of VLTIMAS] is to be real," Eriksen reveals. "To channel the very moment, to let true inspiration out. I don't believe I ever set myself a goal on what an album should or needs to sound like before I or we write it because that means I have to compromise during the process. For EPIC, we focused on more direct songs, trimming the fat, as opposed to Something Wicked Marches In, which had a progressive and 'playful' flair."

VLTIMAS was a profane concept—a constellation of riffs against a modest frame—when formed by Eriksen in 2015. After departing Mayhem in 2008 and putting his gothic doom outfit Ava Inferi to rest in 2013, the Norwegian's fingers still itched with infernal fury. VLTIMAS was his vent, and when Mounier and Vincent joined, he finally had the cadre of professionals to make it a reality. Together, they devised complementary schemes and themes rooted in rightness. In a world gone mad, VLTIMAS had a vision. On Something Wicked Marches In, they commanded attention with metaphors about the apocalypse, the ancient goddess Lilith, and truth. Lyrically, EPICspears into the very nucleus of strength through Vincent's brio of double entendre and clever wordsmithing. The songs are designed to be heard, read, and interpreted—there are no shortcuts.

"Everything we're doing and messaging is about strength and honor," says Vincent. "These are the fundamentals that I incorporate into my life, which I believe in. I want to share with others, hoping they'll incorporate strength and honor into their lives. I wouldn't say I like spelling lyrics out. I use a lot of double meanings on purpose because I want to inspire the listener to think. I'm not a short attention span guy, and I don't appreciate it. EPIC is holistic and meant to be experienced that way."

EPIC was recorded by producer Jaime Gomez Arellano (Paradise Lost, Grave Miasma) with engineer Jonathan Mazzeo (First Fragment, Sickening) at Arda Recorders in Porto, Portugal. VLTIMAS tracked the album throughout May 2023. Arellano also handled the mix and master. Like everything the band does, the main goal was to be honest. The maxim of no sample replacement or re-amping—EPICwas captured on outboard gear—was adhered to and enjoyed by the team. The result is a sonic expression that sounds like nothing else. From the crushing title track to the epic musicality of closer "Spoils of War," EPIC is an absolute beast.

"Stress, long walks, too much alcohol, yet very focused once in the recording mode," Eriksen says of the sessions. "We booked a month, but somehow, that flew by instantly. We worked up until the very end. I even added a few solos at my local Soundscape Studio in Almada, Portugal. Art unfolds, and once you think you are done, there's always another idea popping up."

VLTIMAS brought Italian artist Daniele Valeriani (Mayhem, Unanimated) to visualize EPIC. The aesthetic, as illuminated by music and message, was iconic boldness. The three-eagle head crest with three different crowns, accompanied by transfigured symbols of the Passion and the "impossible triangle," projects effortlessly. In EPIC, the group will dominate. There's no escape from "Miserere," "Mephisto Manifesto," "Scorcher," and "Invictus." Together, they thrust, by resolve and inventiveness, VLTIMAS into the uppermost echelons of extreme metal.

"[EPIC is] old meets contemporary, a symbiosis of all the great things we love about extreme metal," offers Eriksen. "All combined into one album."

"I want to be as emotional and honest [with VLTIMAS]," Vincent adds. "I want to tell stories; I want to have the themes that appeal to me; I want to have some messaging that someone can take away, in this case, strength. EPIC is strength."

"Wherever You Are Tonight" is Kenny's 4th + Final Grat Track

Having made the decision BORN, his first new album in over four years, would be a project that would offer a complete sense of who he is and what his music is made of, Kenny Chesney wanted his final grat track to be something that reached beyond the here and now to embrace those people who’ve left us. “Wherever You Are Tonight,” a piano-grounded ballad, is a philosophical consideration of where people go after they pass, but also suggests that while we can’t see them, it doesn’t mean they’ve actually left us.

“The thing about this song that struck me,” Chesney said, “is that idea people we love never truly leave us. We can’t see them, or know where they go after they pass on, but everything we shared remains... who we are because of them, that doesn’t change. But this song suggests that beyond the grief, the pain and the memories, wherever the people we love are, they’re not so far away.

“There’s a line in the lyric: ‘You’re not gone, just out of sight/ You’re here with me, wherever you are tonight...’ And that might be, since we don’t know what happens next. Maybe you can be in two places at once; you can be in heaven and on my right shoulder. Who’s to say? But for all the people who’ve passed on, I love the idea that they’re still here.”

Written by GRAMMY-winner Mike Reid, best known for Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and three-time Songwriter of the Year Gary Burr, both in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, “Wherever You Are Tonight” is a song not of sadness, but also celebration. Mining Chesney’s at times ruminating on life deep dive song sense, the four minute song is delivered as a late night conversation that reflects on the power of life-changing friendships.

After two verses of piano, strings drift in like mist and an electric guitar cuts through. But the star of this heartfelt song is Chesney’s warm, slightly porous tenor; strong enough to shoulder the emotions, but also vulnerable and hopeful enough to hold a space for what requires faith.

As BORN’s May 22 release draws closer, the eight-time Entertainer of the Year and only country artist in Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Artists of the Last 25 Years for the last 15 years wants to provide a complete picture for what No Shoes Nation can expect. Already cited as one of spring’s most anticipated albums in any genre by Esquire and one of Holler’s “Country Albums to Look Forward To,” Nashville Lifestyles offers BORN “continues his reign as master of the bigger picture... themes of gratitude, nostalgia, optimism, and resilience, the album celebrates the wild act of just living.”

“There’s so much on BORN,” Chesney explains. “And I know some people like different pieces of the music for different reason. It was important to me for people to have a sense of everything that’s here, so while five songs early feels like an awful lot, I think it’s a pretty good sense of what these 15 songs taken as a whole represent. I can’t wait for No Shoes Nation to show me what their favorites are.”

With the Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour kicking off at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium on April 20, the BORN tour edition is also available for pre-order through a link provided to ticket buyers and premium fan club members. Containing three live tracks, it adds the pulse of No Shoes Nation to a collection of songs designed to offer a look at shrugging off the things that pull you down and celebrating the euphoria of being in the moment with people you connect with.
