Mike Mains + The Branches Share "If We Run" — LISTEN

MIKE MAINS & THE BRANCHES recently announced the new album Memory Unfixed, out September 15 via Tooth & Nail. Pre-order it here.

"Memory Unfixed is a collection of musical snapshots from 2019-2021," Mains says. "The world went through a metamorphosis at that time and I fell down into the basement of unfixed memories. Some painful, some colorful, I'm glad to report there was magic down there. I am excited to share."

Today, fans can listen to the new single "If We Run." Listen
here

"I wrote this song with an incredible writer, producer Geoff Duncan," Mains says. "It is a song written from the mindset of my teenage years when all I wanted to do was fall in love, get in the car and get the hell out of dodge."

Mike Mains & The Branches have always bottled complex emotions and relatable stories within hummable homegrown anthems. They have organically progressed over the course of Home [2012], Calm Down, Everything Is Fine [2014], and When We Were In Love [2019]. Billboard hailed the "buoyant pop" of the latter, while Atwood Magazine praised its "upbeat, energetic, feel-good pop-rock." Among many standouts, “Briggs” generated north of 4.8 million Spotify streams as "Breathing Underwater" and "Live Forever" each surpassed the 1 million-mark. After trading his native Michigan for Nashville, Mike underwent another era of transformation. Stuck at home mid-Pandemic, he retreated inward and began to understand his past and, ultimately, himself a bit more.

"Once COVID hit, I finally had the opportunity to allow some things to start boiling over," he elaborates. "I got serious about therapy, my mental health, and my well-being. I acknowledged wounds that had been on the backburner for my entire life. I've been on my own since I was 16, and I come from a family of physical and mental abuse. By living alone and crashing on couches over the years, I've cobbled together a wonderful surrogate family. Growing up, my dad was like, 'You'll never make it’.' Part of me was pleased to find success, move to Nashville, buy a home, and support myself and my wife off rock 'n' roll. Nevertheless, all of this pain came up. So, these songs are little vignettes and snapshots of not only the relationship between my wife and I but what was happening in the world with George Floyd and America's heartbreaking response."

Blacktoothed Share "Novocaine" Video

Blacktoothed have shared the video for their newest single "Novocaine," exploring the well-known sensation of being either over-or-under-challenged, leaving one in a perpetual state of discomfort. Notably, guitarist Matti showcases her vocal prowess, adding another layer of talent before the song concludes with a powerful and unexpected climax.

Watch the video
below. Stream the song here.

"We've always embraced the freedom of not confining ourselves to a single genre," says the band. "Some might label it as a reflection of the heavy music scene's zeitgeist, but we believe that blending various elements together creates a truly distinctive song. 'NOVOCAINE' embodies everything we love, from captivating melodies to powerful riffs and infectious beats. And let's not forget the explosive and remarkably heavy ending, which pushes our tuning to uncharted territories. It's even experimental for our own standards. Nonetheless, we're eager to share this musical adventure with the world!"

The band’s latest album JULI was created in collaboration with the producing team of Sawdust Recordings (Christoph Wieczorek + Julian Breucker) and shows that Blacktoothed have narrowed their sound and found their musical style.

In the past few years, Blacktoothed have gained a lot of live experience, having shared stages with well known bands like Acres, Annisokay, Bad Omens, Hands Like Houses, Polaris, Thundermother, and many more, as well as through other live highlights, including opening up the IMPERICON FESTIVAL and many other open air concerts.

ELVIE SHANE IS RELENTLESSLY “JONESIN’” IN NEW SONG OUT TODAY

BBR Music Group/Wheelhouse Records singer/songwriter Elvie Shane, champion of the next blue-collar generation with “backwoods growl and heartland rock sound” (Billboard), drops the soulful anthem “Jonesin’,” available to listen here. With chills-evoking vocals and a driving bassline, the track finds Shane with a hell too hot and a heaven too high, unsatisfied by a life spent stagnant in the same rhythm. Written by Shane, Oscar Charles, Ryan Tyndall and Jeremy Spillman and produced by Oscar Charles, “Jonesin’” bears the passion of those born to chase the fire, those who burn for taking life by the scruff of its neck.

“”Jonesin’” is all about our vices and failures in the pursuit of satisfaction and happiness,” said Shane. “ It came with the realization that you could have everything you’ve ever dreamed of and still be left feeling empty at times. That’s just life. But that void can be a beautiful thing when used as fuel. It can piss you off enough to quit the bad habits or fire you up enough to chase the seemingly unattainable.”

“Jonesin’" follows up Shane’s recently released tracks “Baptized” and “Forgotten Man,” where “Baptized” shows how he “steps outside the bounds of traditional country music to explore his gospel side” as his “raw grit propels through the lyrics” (Country Now). “Forgotten Man” received critical praise from Rolling Stone, citing how he "expertly sums up what it means to be blue-collar in the 21st century in this defiant, angry country single that would do Merle Haggard proud.”

Shane has kept busy this summer on the road, with headline shows and appearances at CMA Fest, Country Fest and more, as well as joining select dates with The Cadillac Three. He’s set to perform in Watertown, SD tonight, and Saturday in Wayne, NE as well as other select dates this fall opening for Kameron Marlowe. He also has stops in Rock Springs, WY, Salt Lake City, UT, Denver, CO and Colorado Springs, CO next week.

ABOUT ELVIE SHANE
As a native of small-town Kentucky who’s influences range from Dwight Yoakam and Steve Earle to classic rock, Gospel, R&B and hip hop, Wheelhouse Records’ Elvie Shane has emerged as a country star with his heart on his sleeve – and as a champion of those with their name on a patch. Breaking out with the Platinum certified Number One single, “My Boy,” the singer/songwriter first took a stand for family values that go far beyond bloodlines, setting himself apart with a deeply felt 2020 tribute to step-parents and their unconditional love. Hailed by critics from Billboard and Rolling Stone to the Nashville Scene and beyond, the track helped launch Shane’s album BACKSLIDER onto multiple Best Of lists, winning over fans with its gritty yet gracious fusion of heartland rock, modern country and stand-for-something purpose. With over 372 million career streams and counting, that fusion often presents itself onstage as a mix of rebellious energy, indelible imagery and working-class pride, and it has made Shane a favorite all across the globe. Pairing his headlining MY KINDA TROUBLE TOUR in 2021 with high-profile opening slots for Darius Rucker, Jason Aldean, Toby Keith, Brothers Osborne, Brooks & Dunn and Lady A, among others, plus country’s biggest festivals and a 2023 tour across the heart of Europe, he capped it all with a nomination for Best New Country Artist at the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards, and is now laying the groundwork for a new chapter. Following inclusion on the star studded Stoned Cold Country tribute to The Rolling Stones 60th anniversary (submitting a special version of “Sympathy for the Devil”), Shane's new tracks include “Jonesin’,” “Baptized” and “Forgotten Man” out now. Rolling Stone praises “Forgotten Man” as it “expertly sums up what it means to be blue-collar in the 21st century in this defiant, angry country single that would do Merle Haggard proud." An anthem for those chasing the American dream with calloused hands and a weary, but still-believing heart, it’s another example of Shane’s deep-feeling take on country, as a new blue-collar generation arrives.

NYC artist GUITARMY OF ONE presents retro sci-fi inspired 'Soylent Seafoam Green' ahead of 'The Wave Files' LP

“An accomplished ex-punk who has made the striking transition to atmospheric soundtracks” ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Helland has tapped something interesting and, dare we say, magical... Soundtracks for the movie in our minds" ~ PopMatters

"Fom hardcore punk to thrash metal, to folk-punk cabaret, to working with J. Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.), and more; Helland never fails to surprise with his continuous evolution as an artist" ~ Ghost Cult Magazine

"Outlandish, playful, mysterious... plays out like the soundtrack to an old detective television show" ~ Alt77

Guitarmy of One presents his latest adventurous offering 'Soylent Seafoam Green', the third single from his forthcoming crowdfunded album ‘The Wave Files’. With the title and mood inspired by the 1970s cult sci-fi movie 'Soylent Green', this song mixes dark ominous guitar riffing with surf guitar swells and foreboding reverb drenched melodies.

This is surf rock with a gothic edge from guitarist
Scott Helland, an ex-hardcore punk bass player turned instrumental songwriter, whose first band (Deep Wound) was formed with alt-rock trailblazers J Mascis and Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr). He would later join hardcore/ crossover thrash stalwarts Outpatients, School of Violence and Darkside NYC before ultimately forming post-punk duo Frenchy and the Punk in 2005.

This solo project combines the thrilling sounds of spy-themed instrumental surf guitar music with punk vitality. Taking listeners on a sonic adventure to the realms of intrigue, danger and surf-soaked excitement, Helland channels that raw and unconventional spirit into a quirky fusion of genres.

"'Soylent Seafoam Green' is in keeping with my blend of the spy and surf sound and is quite dark for a surf song. However, it fits the theme of the 1973 dystopian thriller film 'Soylent Green' of which the song's title is based, but don't worry, listening to the song repeatedly won't lead to cannibalism!" says Scott Helland.

Earlier, Guitarmy of One released 'Kolchak meets the Sea Mobster', with a Spanish guitar-influenced twist and lead track ‘Top Secret Agent Man on a Wire Tapped Phone at Sea’, along with a fun spytastic video.

This record picks up where his latest album
'The Spy Detective Collective’ left off. Helland explains, "I wanted this album to be music you want to travel with - in your mind or physically. It’s action music, and I think it should ignite your imagination and take you on a journey. Wordless music relies on the visuals it creates so if it can take you on a sonic adventure across continents, or at least counties, my work is done. The idea for this album is rooted in spy and detective shows from the 60s, 70s and 80s. I want the music to be a sonic equivalent of those shows and movies where you’re riding the waves of intrigue and espionage so the music has to match that sense of urgency and excitement."

As a full-fledged espionage-inspired surf rock act, Guitarmy of One takes us on a thrilling musical journey, blending the realms of instrumental guitar, surf music and the mystique of spy themes within the one person band format. Helland weaves his mysterious and generous acoustic-electric melodies over propulsive spy riffs and electro beats, layering and building patiently toward engrossing payoffs.

Influenced by Spanish guitar, punk and metal, Guitarmy of One conjures up images of secret agents, high-speed chases, and hidden agendas through his intricate layered compositions. His mix of surf guitar techniques (i.e. reverb-drenched chords, lightning-fast tremolo picking, and tremolo bar vibrato albeit with a Bigsby bridge pedal) creates a sonic landscape that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking.

As of July 26, 'Soylent Seafoam Green' is available across digital platforms, including
SpotifyApple Music and Bandcamp, where the full album can already be ordered. On August 18, 'The Wave Files' album will be released on CD, as well as digitally.

MULTI #1 COUNTRY-ROCKER TYLER FARR REDNECKS LIKE ME EP OUT NOW

Multi #1 Country-rocker Tyler Farr today releases his latest southern-rooted project Rednecks Like Me via Broken Bow Records/Night Train Records. Produced by Jason Aldean with his long-time band-members Kurt Allison and Tully Kennedy, the country-to-the bone EP flaunts Farr’s signature raspy vocals and is a swift return to the sound that initially propelled him to redneck stardom. Listen HERE.

"This is the first project I’ve co-written all the songs on, so this is a big step in my career for me," said Farr. "I’m so proud of this album as it showcases my evolution as a singer/songwriter and I can’t wait for fans to hear it."

Heading back to his rough and rowdy ways, Rednecks Like Me features six new songs, including Farr’s latest focus track “Rednecks Like Me,” which All Country News deemed “a page out of a country boy’s journal.”

The EP includes boot-stomping jams like “Tell You ‘Bout That,” a southern rocker delivered in Farr’s trademark raspy sound, telling of his proficiency in the country boy world. “Silverado Gold” is a smoothly-delivered song that makes you want to spin around in a headlight glow and tells the story of memories that keep on shining like Silverado gold.

“First Rodeo” is an emotive track with an undeniable beat, evoking imagery of a former love riding off into the sunset. The deeply personal “Questions” is a beautifully melodious ode, offering a rare glimpse into Farr’s life as the father of a little girl.

Rounding out the EP is “true-blue country jam” (Country Swag) “Country As Shit” featuring multi-genre phenomenon Jelly Roll that Taste of Country declared “a summer-ready ode to windows-down, mud-crusted, beer-soaked fun in the country…offering scorching celebrations of life in the backwoods, checking off all the boxes for what it means to really party in the country.”

A professionally trained opera singer, declared “one of the best male vocalists in country music today” (Taste of Country), Farr was the first artist signed to Jason Aldean’s Night Train Records/BBR Music Group. Breaking onto the scene in 2013 with his riotous #1 hit “Redneck Crazy,” the platinum-selling artist has scored three #1s (including "Whiskey In My Water" and “A Guy Walks Into A Bar”), scored two Top 5 albums on Billboard’s 200 chart, been honored as a New Face at Country Radio Seminar and been nominated for Music Row’s Breakthrough Artist of the Year.

About Tyler Farr:

“One of the best male vocalists in Country music today” (Taste of Country), Tyler Farr is the first artist signed to Jason Aldean’s Night Train Records/BBR Music Group. The Country-rocker, with three No.1 songs to his credit (“Redneck Crazy,” “Whiskey in My Water,” and “A Guy Walks Into a Bar”) broke onto the scene with the 2013 release of his debut album, Redneck Crazy, which landed at No. 2 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart and No. 5 on the Billboard Top 200. Farr’s Platinum-selling title-track “Redneck Crazy” projected Farr forward to celebrate back-to-back No. 1 singles, including his first No. 1 as a songwriter, with his Platinum-certified hit “Whiskey in my Water.” His sophomore album, Suffer In Peace, followed suit, also making its debut in the Top 5 on both the Billboard Top 200 Albums and Billboard Country Albums Charts, leading Farr to become the only solo male Country artist in the past decade to have their first two studio albums debut in the Top 5 on the Billboard 200 Chart. Known for his love for our military and his passion for the outdoors and recognized as a 2014 CRS New Faces of Country Radio and 2014 Music Row “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” nominee, the opera-trained singer quickly earned coveted slots touring with Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line, Luke Combs, Brantley Gilbert and Lee Brice. The Missouri native’s dry wit, silly antics and reputation as “a no-frills musician who pours his drinks as hard as he pours his heart into his songs,” (Rolling Stone), led to the star’s riotous social following of fans eager for his next move. After releasing “true-blue country jam” (Country Swag) “Country As Shit,” featuring multi-genre phenomenon Jelly Roll that Taste of Country declared “a summer-ready ode to windows-down, mud-crusted, beer-soaked fun in the country,” Farr heads back to his rough and rowdy ways with his latest Aldean-produced EP, Rednecks Like Me, out now.

Voyager's new album 'Fearless in Love' out now

You've probably noticed, but VOYAGER are on quite a ride. The band started this year with a Top Ten finish at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, thanks to their keytar-charged power ballad "Promise". Back home, they were treated to a hero's welcome with a sold-out summer tour of Australia. Earlier this week, they released "Ultraviolet", which highlighted a darker, more introspective side to to their electro progressive metal.

Now, Voyager are capping off a surreal first half to 2023 with the highly-anticipated 'Fearless in Love'. It's the band's eighth studio album. Daniel "Danny" Estrin (vocals/keyboards), Simone Dow (guitars), Scott Kay (guitars), Alex Canion (bass) and Ashley Doodkorte (drums) have been making music together for more than a decade. And while they've evolved with each release - mixing brightly colored synths, heavy metal riffs, progressively groovier rhythms and clean 'n' sticky vocal melodies into big, sugary, radio rocking hits - clearly, with this album, Voyager are bound for the stars.

Angry Metal Guy
said that Voyager are "more colorful than ever" and that 'Fearless in Love' is "the most successful harmonization of their progressive, poppy, metallic sensibilities'. Distorted Sound singled out "Daydream" for its twin solos that are "straight out of Iron Maiden's books of tricks", while Ghost Cult likened "Submarine" to "Duran Duran playing beach volleyball with The Devin Townsend Project".

Voyager are celebrating the release of 'Fearless in Love' with a special full album playlist. Listen to that playlist
HERE and please share it with your followers.

Here's what Voyager have to say about the journey of 'Fearless in Love': "After many years of writing, demoing, isolating, perfecting and recording, we are proud to present our 8th album in full, Fearless in Love. We are so proud of this album. It comes at a transformational time in our lives, and the music reflects that feeling perfectly. We have so many people to thank throughout the last four or so years for what we now.

Thank you to Matt Templeman and Simon Struthers for the immaculate mix and master respectively.

Thank you to Lulu, John and Anahita, for their tireless work to make this release a success.

Thank you Ashley for the amazing artwork.

Thank you to Michael and Season of Mist, and to everyone who forms a part of our immediate and wider team (there are too many to add but you know who you are!).

And last but not least, thank you for everyone who has or will listen to Fearless in Love, either now or in years to come. We love making music for you, and for us, and we hope you enjoy this new 45 minute journey as much as we enjoyed making it."

Stream the album
HERE and order it HERE

As much as you can rely on the Earth’s elliptical orbit, you can depend on Voyager to consistently evolve. The band’s interplanetary balance of virtuosic pyrotechnics and sky scraping radio-ready hooks morphs at the speed of sound from one era to the next. In bursts of bright light, luminous keys, neon guitar wizardry, and stratosphere-shaking rhythms, they elevate hard rock to another realm. The group blast off on a signature hybrid of prog, rock, and metal possibly best described as the musical equivalent of Guardians of the Galaxy.

After piling up millions of streams, earning acclaim from the likes of The Guardian, and wowing the globe on the Eurovision Song Contest, the Perth, Australia quintet—Danny Estrin [vocals], Simone Dow [guitar], Scott Kay [guitar], Alex Canion [bass], and Ashley Doodkorte [drums]—take flight like never before on their forthcoming eighth full-length LP, Fearless In Love [Season of Mist].

“It’s progressive in the sense we’re always trying to reinvent and refresh ourselves as musicians,” notes Danny. “I want to develop musically from where we left off. We made sure Fearless In Love was melodic with some sugary hooks, but we also stayed true to our sound and delivered a few more guitar solos. It could appeal to fans of complex music as well as anybody who might want a straight-up banger. It’s a melting pot of the genres that define us distilled into the unique Voyager sound.”

This cohort of dynamic talents and personalities initially crash-landed stateside for a now-renowned performance at the 2011 ProgPower USA Festival in Atlanta, GA. Since then, they’ve unleashed a string of fan favourite albums—V [2014], Ghost Mile [2017], and Colours in the Sun [2019]—in addition to sharing stages with the likes Deftones, Leprous, Devin Townsend, Opeth, and Poppy to name a few. Australia notably handpicked Voyager as its entrant into the global Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with “Promise.” The Guardian hailed the buzzing single as “a pop number that bends the genre with trademark riffs, climactic guitars and keytar solos,” and it crashed the Top 3 of the Australian Independent Label Singles Chart. They even appeared on TODAY Australia to wave the metal flag by teaching daytime TV hosts black metal growls, as plugged by Metal Injection!

Throughout 2022, they crafted what would become Fearless In Love with engineer, mixer, and coproducer Matt Templeman. This time around, the musicians recorded live, unlocking a new energy altogether.

“Normally, we write and record our parts individually, but the whole band decided to go old school and do everything together this time,” he goes on. “This line-up has been together for twelve years, and we gel so well. It’s cool because we can play off each other like a live show with funky bass, groovy guitars, and creative drum patterns. It translates to the album.” On the single “Prince of Fire,” glimmering keys give way to a hard-hitting guitar riff as Danny’s slick vocals seesaw atop a punchy bass line.

“It’s actually one of the heaviest songs we’ve done, yet it’s got this super eighties mentality,” the front man reveals. “Lyrically, it’s about being perceived as the bad guy, even though you’re trying to do your best. You have good intentions, but sometimes you end up being the ‘Prince of Fire on night patrol’. Musically, it sways side-to-side, and then you’re crushed—which is a common theme for us.”

Then, there’s “The Lamenting.” Seventies-style sonics dissolve in a haze of riffs offset by swooning vocals and synths. Distortion drowns out the light in its final moments.

“You’re lamenting past loves and trying to let go and not wallow in those memories,” Danny elaborates. “There’s a bitter end that almost leaves you in the dark without pulling you out. It’s one of the most melancholic and sad songs on the album.”

Meanwhile, “Ultraviolet” layers a hypnotic refrain above chugging guitar as growls pierce the groove before a hummable solo.

“It’s about coping with the speed of modern society,” he states. “I like a fast-paced world, but it can be too much. You almost want to bury your head under your pillow and scream, ‘Slow down’. The expectations we have on each other as humans are just nuts. Sometimes, you need to become ultraviolet, duck under, and go, ‘No more for me, thanks’.”

The finale “Gren (Fearless In Love)” concludes the album with a climactic crescendo pushed even higher by resounding melodies and nimble instrumentation.

“When you’re in love, you have boundless energy and feelings for a person, which makes you almost invincible,” he elaborates. “There’s a huge vulnerability, because you’re not invincible at all. You’re totally susceptible to extreme hurt and letdown. There’s something beautiful about letting yourself go and fully experiencing being fearless though.”

In the end, a similar creative boundlessness drives Voyager.

“When you listen to Fearless In Love, I’d love for you to say, ‘I’ve never heard anything like this before’,” he leaves off. “Secondly, I hope you’re uplifted, intrigued, and emotional. We try take you on a journey through struggle, positivity, negativity, and a society that doesn’t always make sense. Maybe, listening to the record will make you feel better about dealing with this crazy modern world we’re living in.”

TRACK45 EXPLORES HOMETOWNS, HEARTBREAK AND ALL THE THINGS THEY ‘GREW UP ON’ IN NEW EP

Rising country music trio Track45 has lived a lifetime of memories together as siblings. On Grew Up On, out today (7.14) via BBR Music Group / Stoney Creek Records, the trio made up of Ben, Jenna and KK Johnson, share the memories etched into their being from their upbringing, exploring young heartbreak, valuable life lessons and more while highlighting their blood harmony “perfection” (MusicRow).

Listen to Grew Up On here: track45.lnk.to/GrewUpOn

“We recorded this collection of songs as we were saying goodbye to many relationships in our lives,” says Track45. “We always want to be honest about the highs and the lows of life and we hope you can hear that in the music. There are some breakup anthems, nostalgic retrospections and some feel good songs mixed in. It’s a journal of us celebrating the experiences and people that have made us who we are and closing the chapter on situations that weren’t right anymore.”

The opening track “Drinkin’ And Thinkin’” finds the band recklessly reminiscing on a lost love, while the title track opens a time capsule of memories from their youth and reflects on the traditions that made the trio who they are today. Track45 showcases its witty tongue-in-cheek songwriting on the breakup anthems “Hate Me” and “Last Man In Tennessee,” the latter of which “packs a punch like a shot of sawdust and whiskey” (American Songwriter). “PCH” is a twangy windows-down ode to a vacation fling, while the final track “Family,” a country version of a song that the siblings originally wrote for David Guetta and featured Bebe Rexha, Ty Dolla $ign and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, ends with a message of gratitude for bonds that transcend blood.

Grew Up On was produced entirely by Track45, who co-wrote the majority of the songs alongside some of Nashville’s top songwriters including Michael Hardy, Ashley Gorley (Carrie Underwood, Jon Pardi), Jonathan Singleton (Luke Combs, Bonnie Raitt), Taylor Phillips (Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert) and more. The EP is a preview of more new music to come in the near future from the trio.

GXTP Share New Banger "Accusation" — LISTEN

"The combo of Jason Paul, Sasha Sirota, Triple Sixx and iconic Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee is just fun." — Forbes

"Paul's infectious pop-writing has been whipped into a rock and roll banger for 'Contraband...'" — V Magazine

While the nation fought and scrambled for supplies upon the news of the devastating COVID outbreak in 2020, three artists came together to create. Made up of Jason Paul, Sasha Sirota, and Triple Sixx, GXTP formed to not only provide us with unparalleled writing and musicianship, but to be an almost reflection of society unto itself. GXTP are an abbreviation for what the news and communities placed the most importance on: guns and toilet paper.

Take a listen to their latest single "Accusation"
here.

The gripping new single boasts powerful lyrics and an adrenaline-fueled sound. The song takes listeners on an exhilarating journey of redemption and defiance.

After the debut single "
Foresight," and then exploding onto the scene with the single "Contraband," which featured one of the world’s most beloved drummers in Mötley Crüe's Tommy Lee, it became clear that GXTP are a band with a cinematic vision, keeping one foot in ironic hilarity and the other firmly planted in conceiving a seriously unique brand of rock and roll. Currently spinning regularly on nearly all active rock stations, "Contraband" continues to climb the radio charts, impressing with the single’s undeniable appeal. Melodies and synthesizers pair masterfully alongside GXTP's scraps of pop and punk, culminating in what can only be described as a full-bodied rock experience.

No stranger to unlocking the combination to perfect song structure, member Jason Paul lends his multi-platinum songwriting mastery to GXTP. Having written and produced some of Justin Bieber's biggest radio hits, including "Despacito (Remix)" and "What Do You Mean?," in addition to co-writing "Caught Up," one of the top singles off of Usher's Confessions LP in 2004, Paul simply has that golden ear. Applying the same rules and quality standards for his own project.

Aptly named, do not be surprised when GXTP take over the conversation.

Mike Mains + The Branches Share "Talk to Me" — LISTEN

MIKE MAINS & THE BRANCHES recently announced the new album Memory Unfixed, out September 15 via Tooth & Nail. Pre-order it here.

"Memory Unfixed is a collection of musical snapshots from 2019-2021," Mains says. "The world went through a metamorphosis at that time and I fell down into the basement of unfixed memories. Some painful, some colorful, I'm glad to report there was magic down there. I am excited to share."

Today, the artist has shared the new single "
Talk to Me." Listen here.

"Tyson Motsenbocker is an inspiration," states Mains. "His song 'Sunday Morning' inspired 'Talk to Me.' I wanted to try my best at writing a song that painted scenes as well as his songs. Even if I strike out, I'm happy to be at the plate taking a swing."

New Jersey's CR and The Nones signs to the Magic Door Label, releases 'The Long Game' ahead of new album

"Chris spins yarns like nobody else. His stories are poignant and relatable. Backing up those lyrics are waves of sonic bliss meticulously crafted" ~ The Family Reviews

"With a timbre similar to Elliot Smith and Christopher Cross, CR and The Nones has a huge and positive sound that recalls the best of 70s AM radio, as well as select output from certain 90s artists like Weezer and Better Than Ezra" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"A unique sound that pieced together a variety of influences including punk, heartland rock, country, folk, and indie rock" ~ Tom Gallo (Look At My Records)

"This feels like a new chapter for C.R.’s song-writing, stepping out from his musical roots and shaping his sound into something entirely his own" ~ For The Rabbits

"Gennone channels Neil Young in the melancholy delivery of vocals that perfectly conveys the longing of trying to reach for the stars while knowing you may not even grab one" ~ You Don't Know Jersey

New Jersey-based collective
CR and The Nones presents 'The Long Game', the first single from 'The Ghosts Are Coming Home', the band's second album and the first to be released via the Magic Door Record Label.

'The Ghosts Are Coming Home' is a culmination of the sound and aesthetic that guitarist and songwriter Chris Gennone (CR to his friends) has been building over many years and multiple bands. With an expansiveness and introspection that recalls The War on Drugs or early My Morning Jacket, the ten tracks here showcase an irresistible sincerity and heartfelt delivery.

Self-produced by Gennone, this album was mixed by renowned producer
Ray Ketchem (Guided By Voices, Luna, Versus, Elk City, Gramercy Arms) at Magic Door Recording Studio in Montclair, NJ and mastered by Nick Bolton at Bolton Sound in Jersey City.

'I wrote the lyrics for this song in the midst of a break up in the middle of Covid lockdowns and just after losing my job, so everything seemed pretty bleak. I felt defeated and was just kind of searching for something I could hold onto. My ex and I were driving down the turnpike and I was in the passenger seat watching the planes take off and all of the words came to me at once. I wrote the melody and chords pretty soon after," says CR Gennone.

"I did a lot of work on this song, first recording the drums with my friend Josh Bartsch from Pynkie and doing all of the vocals, harmonies, guitars and synths at my apartment. The original version was mixed by Jeff Zeigler in Philly, but I decided to scrap it and re-track everything with Tom Barrett on drums at Skylar’s studio in Wayne. Andrew recorded Jim’s guitar parts at his apartment and then I tracked everything else at my place."

Recalling past Garden State guitar music, Gennone’s soulful vocals and his band’s driving hooks invoke roads, journeys, and forward motion in general. Counting Neil Young and Jason Molina among major influences, his sound has always been propulsive. In 2020, CR and The Nones released their debut album
'Living In Fear' via Favorite Friend Records.

Like many artists, the pandemic and resulant huge chunks of unfilled time allowed Gennone to be more considered, thoughtful, and purposive in his songwriting for this album. Being forced out of his normal songwriting process and comfort zone opened Gennone to new influences, and his resulting growth as a songwriter is evident. While friends from the NYC and NJ music scenes contributed ideas and sounds, some influences are not as obvious. Gennone recalls listening to Brian Eno non-stop while recording 'Ghosts', and the synth sounds and ambient textures that underpin much of the album are certainly a testament to that.

As of July 12, 'The Long Game' is available from fine music platforms, including
SpotifyApple Music, and Bandcamp. 'The Ghosts Are Coming Home' album will be released on September 8 and is now available for pre-order.

OUR HOLLOW, OUR HOME DROP "DOWNPOUR" VIDEO

Our Hollow, Our Home, a prominent metalcore band hailing from Southampton, UK, have made an electrifying return with a new line-up, promising to usher in a new era for the group. Their re-emergence is marked by the release of their first single "Downpour," a track that retains their signature blend of aggressive, yet melodic soundscapes while showcasing influences from the band's new members.

Watch the video
Below. Stream the song here.

The reconfigured ensemble is poised to continue making music.

"I'm really proud to present our latest single, 'Downpour,' as this is the first release with the new lineup and it heralds a new chapter and fresh sound for the band. Lyrically, 'Downpour' is about life's shifting dynamics. It speaks not only to my own personal experience with the changes in the band, but I believe it can resonate with anybody. 'Downpour' is about overcoming your own fears and anxieties, staying true to yourself, and what is right for you as an individual," the band's vocalist Tobias shares.

He continues, "Given everything that has happened, and the amount of change within the band, it was super important for us to bring something new to the table as soon as we could. As soon as we wrote 'Downpour,' we knew this was the song to return with straight away. 'Downpour' will be released as a stand-alone single, but rest assured, we've already been working very hard on our fourth album, which is sounding wild!

"Musically, this is the best the band has ever sounded. Collaborating with the insanely talented Sky Van Hoff (Rammstein/Sleep Token) has been a game-changer. He's given our sound a modern twist while keeping our original vibe intact which is something we wanted to set out to do from the start. We are so excited for people to hear this new chapter of the band. We hope that those who have been with us for any length of time will still get behind us, and we're looking forward to seeing some new faces along the way."

The level of relatability, coupled with their relentless touring with the likes of Asking Alexandria and Blessthefall and high profile slots at festivals like Graspop, Nova Rock, Summerblast and Jera On Air, has seen the band command an ever growing army of highly dedicated followers; they have over 9 million views on YouTube. 2017's debut album Hartsick reached the top spot of the Itunes chart for rock and metal in the UK, as well as placing in the top ten in the USA, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Italy, and Germany.

They were also boosted by their hugely popular cover of Ed Sheeran’s "Shape of You" in 2017, which was picked up by BBC Radio One's Greg James and subsequently topped the iTunes UK rock and metal chart, and racked up over 300,000 plays on YouTube on its first week of release.

The Devil's Trade premiere new album on YouTube

'Vidékek Vannak Idebenn' came at a strange time for Dávid György Makó.

Makó started The Devil's Trade ten years ago, as a solitary journey between him and his banjo. But once he started working on this album, he began to feel like that phase of his life was ending - though he wasn't quite sure what the next one looked like.  Instead, he found himself in a paralyzed state, floating somewhere between past and present.

Out of that liminal space came 'Vidékek Vannak Idebenn'. At times, the new album harkens back to the stark and doomy meditation on folk music that Makó honed on earlier albums.
"Clear Like the Wind" is so stripped-down and quiet that you can hear Makó's right hand sliding up and down his guitar, repeating a simple but haunted melody.

But 'Vidékek Vannak Idebenn' also marks a turning point, when The Devil's Trade grew into something that looks more like a band. Makó brought in his old friend and former bandmate Gáspár Binder, whose dark and stormy drumming sets off the booming thundercloud of
the title track. Makó also leans heavier into electronic textures. Synths shroud "Flashing Through the Lack of Light"like smoke shifting down a mountain.

"This album has given me so much hardship, confirmation, lessons and joy from the first moment I started to work on it, even when it was still a secret," says Makó. "And now it is out to live on its own. I hope you will enjoy it!"

'Vidékek Vannak Idebenn' is out this Friday, July 14 on Season of Mist. Pre-save the album
HERE and pre-order it HERE

liminal
/ˈlɪmɪnl/
adjective
TECHNICAL

  1. occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold.

"I was in the liminal space between past and present"

It is of no surprise liminal space is a key element in the next phase of The Devil’s Trade’s fourth album, ’Vidékek vannak idebenn’ (a title that loosely translates to ’There Are Landscapes Within’) as Dávid Makó, the man behind the moniker has indeed arrived to a threshold in his career, where the phase starting with his self-released debut ’Those Miles We Walked Alone’ ended after his latest album ’The Call of the Iron Peak’. The concept of liminal space itself is a not necessarily pleasant state of mind where you left behind your old life, but new doors haven’t exactly opened just yet.

As Makó states ’The process my first three records pieced together ended, that was no path for me to take anymore, but to take a step forward I had to make decisions I wasn’t inspired enough to make.’ – and from this frustrated, sort of paralyzed state of floating, a new incarnation of The Devil’s Trade was born and so was ‘Vidékek vannak idebenn’ along with it.

While still true to his solo artist roots, delivering gut-wrenching melodies of darkness and beauty on his own, Makó needed an expansion to his universe. With the addition of long-time friend and former bandmate Gáspár Binder on drums and a live keyboard player, he finally took the much needed step forward and ‘Vidékek vannak idebenn’ portrays the next sonic phase of The Devil’s Trade.

A soundtrack to the next phase of his life. A soundtrack to souls stuck in liminal space, hungry to adapt to new realities and to grow further, outside the boundaries which so often shackle them.

Oxford outfit JODY AND THE JERMS teams up with RIDE'S MARK GARDENER for new banger 'Liberation'

“Evanescent jangle of endearing pop hymns... a celestial glow that lingers at the nexus of The Sundays, Belle and Sebastian, Throwing Muses, and the effervescent efflorescence of The Darling Buds” ~ Post-Punk.com

"It’s almost like power pop, a bit Bangles... or jangle pop. Lovely" ~ Radcliffe & Maconie, BBC 6 Music

"Jody had to be coerced into singing, and she does it really well. It's good isn't it!" ~ Janice Long - BBC Wales

"Poised and perfect... A joyous romp through everything that made pop so great... sassy and full of buoyant energy, shot through with chime and charm, and has lashings of sing-along-ability" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Aglow in sugar-spun pop confections and unforgettable harmonies that conjures the jangling heyday of The Bangles and the buoyant rhythms of The Regrettes" ~ Stereo Embers Magazine

"With positivity and buoyancy, their catchy music is light on mood and heavy on melody.... glossy pop, jangling guitar, elegiac harmonies, memorable choruses and wistful melancholy" ~ The Spill Magazine

Oxford indie pop-rock outfit
Jody and the Jerms have a summer surprise for the world - their new single 'Liberation', which was produced, mixed and mastered by RIDE frontman Mark Gardener at his OX4 Sound studio near Oxford.

On 'Liberation', Jody and the Jerms get into the summer groove with a 3-minute stomp that sees the Oxford band push on from their jangle pop roots. With vocals to the fore, buoyed by the addition of new Jerm Salma Craig on backing vocals, the song is awash with Wah, Hammond and shaker to get the audience moving as they continue their 48-date summer UK tour and multiple festival appearances.

Now that the dust has settled on April's release of their third album
'Wonder' and latest single 'Intuition', the sweet taste of 'Liberation' powers the band forward, recalling the killer riffs, sass and harmonies of the B-52s in the embrace of the Jerms' own trademark twists and warm production.

An insanely upbeat and empowering song, 'Liberation' is about how the good times make you feel alive and free -  and how you want that positivity to last forever.

‘Liberation' single  https://jodyandthejerms.ffm.to/liberation

"A lot of our songs from the two latest albums, 'Flicker' and 'Wonder', have been called bittersweet - but 'Liberation' is something completely different. It's about how you feel when things are going well, the euphoria you feel, which can be hard to explain or even understand, and the excitement of what comes next," says frontwoman Jody Jeger.

Niall Jeger adds, "The whole song has a different sound to previous Jerms songs. We played around with different guitar and synth sounds, and also went big on the three-part harmonies that were a lot of fun to record. We had a very productive, creative  and happy day in the studio which matches the lyrical themes of 'Liberation'".

Championed by the late Janice Long at BBC, among others, Jody and the Jerms is a collective revolving around Jody Jeger (vocals) and Niall Jeger (guitars and vocals) with other band members coming from
The Anydays, who have graced the pages of NME, played with Radiohead and Supergrass, and were featured on Mark Radcliffe at BBC Radio 2.

Jody and the Jerms create endearing jangle-pop songs that are both evocative and relatable. Formed in Oxford in 2019, they have been writing, recording and performing their blend of melodic and uplifting indie/ alt rock ever since, having enjoyed national airtime on Radio X (UK), Sirius XM (USA) and RTVE (Spain), as well as BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, BBC Wales and BBC Ulster.

On working with the Jerms, Mark Gardener notes, "In a great way, the music and the people take me to a place and time where music and life felt easier, fresh and less complicated. There is a simple purity, real heart and soul, plus earworm catchy-as-hell tunes in all they do. Always a warm glow pleasure that never felt like hard work or ‘trying to split the atom’  when there’s absolutely no need to as soon as they start playing in the studio we’re back off to that lovely space again."

As of July 12, 'Liberation' is available from fine music platforms, including
SpotifyApple Music and Bandcamp, where their latest 'Wonder' LP can also be ordered on limited edition CD and pink vinyl. Jody and the Jerms are currently touring the UK in support of this release. Tickets are available at https://jodyandthejerms.com/live

THE MOODY BLUES’ JOHN LODGE ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF ALBUM ‘DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED – MY SOJOURN’ TO ACCOMPANY HIS JULY 2023 USA TOUR

The album is to be released on CD as special fan club only release, and will be available at the upcoming shows starting July 18th, and through John’s website https://shop.johnlodge.com for pre-orders, with shipping on August 7th.

The album was recorded over the last year, and has grown from John’s current live show as he, and his 10,000 Light Years Band, lovingly recreate this classic album. The album also features a special recording by the late Graeme Edge and performances by Jon Davison of YES. It is being released as part of John’s celebration of the album ‘that changed his life’, and with the hope that it will continue to introduce fans to the original iconic recording. The album’s orchestration is by John’s long-term collaborator, and great friend, Alan Hewitt.

“November 2023 will be the 56th anniversary of 'Days of Future Passed’. It’s incredible to look back on this album that changed my life, and that still has so much impact today on so many, and I felt that it deserved celebrating, and so I began rehearsals in 2021/2022 to bring this celebration to life on stage. What was important to me was to make this concert another milestone in the history of ‘Days of Future Passed’, and so I asked Graeme if he would record his poetry, ‘Morning Glory’ and ‘Late Lament’, to include in my concert. Graeme gave me his blessing and said, ‘John, Keep the Moody Blues music alive’. We had a fantastic time putting the show together, with Alan, Duffy, Billy and Jason, and Jon Davison, giving me so much support and helping bring my vision to life. After the final rehearsals for the concert, I realised I should capture this new moment in time, although a reflection of the past, forever, by going into the studio and recording the album, ‘Days of Future Passed – My Sojourn’. I am hoping that this will bring a new generation of listeners to the album, that they then may rediscover the original recording, and the beautiful vocals of Mike Pinder, Justin Hayward, Ray Thomas and myself.  I dedicate this album to Graeme, Justin, Mike and Ray, to Tony Clarke, and to all the fans that are with me on this sojourn, no matter when you joined…”  John Lodge July 2023

The CD in Digipak will be available starting July 18th at John’s first show in Rockford, IL, and a vinyl album is due to follow in the Fall.  The album will also be available to stream and download from July 14th. The cover features a poignant photograph of John and his wife, Kirsten, taken by his daughter-in-law, Inga Wilson - for John, this was an image that perfectly encapsulated the idea of past and future and what this album means to him.

The original album, released in 1967, came about when Decca were exploring stereo and full frequency sound and wanted the band to put the melodies of Dvorak’s New World Symphony to lyrics to make a ‘sampler’ album. The band decided to follow their own path, and the rest is history… but in a reflection of this, John wanted to also explore how modern fidelity will impact the album today.  He is therefore also working on a Dolby Atmos version that will be available for streaming later this year.

Electronic Duo Deep AL Brindle Cover Empire of the Sun's "Walking on a Dream" — LISTEN☀️

Los Angeles-based electronic duo Deep AL Brindle have shared their cover of Empire of the Sun's "Walking on a Dream." Listen here.

"So many great songs came out of that era," the pair states. "Paying homage to this enduring classic just felt right!"

Earlier this year, the band dropped the five-song EP titled Late Night, Early Morning. Get it

ABOUT DEEP AL BRINDLE:
For Deep AL Brindle, countless hours playing music as friends progressed to songs built by bandmates; Alastair Wilson and Diego Castellanos became Deep AL Brindle and released their first single, "Ctrl V," in late 2019. They released two more singles before signing to Tooth & Nail Records, where their debut EP released in Summer 2021. The EP, No Rush, No Curfew, is a soft and bright tribute to art itself. Deep AL Brindle expose the relationship between sound and color, hearing and feeling, and movement and memory with visuals that accompany each song. The cinematic experience emotes themes of nostalgia, joy, and community. Wilson's affinity for '90s rock and Castellanos' appreciation for '80s pop is evident in the project's vintage, electronic sound.

Friends first and bandmates second, Deep AL Brindle has no agenda other than to create what feels good in the moment. The ease and honesty of each track and visual promote their motive: to make the kind of art they want to experience.
