DREAMS OF GRAY Venture Into Heavy Melodic Waters In "Across The Endless Sea"

DREAMS OF GRAY's "Across The Endless Sea" is powerful with high intensity while also incorporating catchy chorus vocal melodies, and elements from other subgenres such as characteristics of black metal guitars. Accompanied with a cinematic lyric video, "Across The Endless Sea" considers the interconnected nature of our lives. We are all on our individual paths through life and while some connections are long-lasting, others may only be fleeting. 

On the lyrical theme, vocalist and guitarist Luis Rivera explains, "the song glimpses the idea of the interconnectedness of life. You are not just you; you are connected to others, some of whom are still here, while others have departed. You, too, are on a journey. You, too, are a connection for others."

DREAMS OF GRAY's newest EP, A Beginning, marks a new chapter of sonic exploration leading further into melodic realms across extreme subgenres. Led by Luis Rivera, the project's sound draws from a wide array of melodic death and doom, along with elements of thrash and traditional heavy metal. On the EP Rivera was joined by Maria Kosma on bass, with drums on "A Beginning" performed by Nicole Trinchero, and drum programming on "Beyond the Sky" and "A Beginning" by Scott Elliot. 

Produced by Luis Rivera, "A Beginning" was recorded, mixed and masted by Josh Middleton at Josh Middleton Studio. "Beyond the Sky" and "Across the Endless Sea" both recorded at Chernobyl Audio Studio and mixed and masted by Scott Elliot.

About DREAMS OF GRAY:
DREAMS OF GRAY was devised by Chicago, IL, based musician and composer Luis Rivera (ABOLISHER) in 2022. In the following year, the project released their critically acclaimed debut EP The World After. DREAMS OF GRAY seeks to draw from the wealth and breadth of metal subgenres to create something distinctive and memorable. The project enables exploration of often dark themes notably, of loss, grief, personal struggles and the shadowy aspects of wider society. 

The release of A Beginning in late 2025 saw DREAMS OF GRAY hone their sound further through a developed compositional style that doesn't restrict or confine their creativity. Inspiration is found in the likes of PARADISE LOST, AMORPHIS, IN FLAMES and DARK TRANQUILITY. DREAMS OF GRAY's music intentionally ebbs and flows dynamically, containing fierce riffs and high energy, as well as a deep focus on melodies and vocal delivery to produce something truly engaging and immersive.

From the beginning, it was clear that Beyond Creation possessed a special aura. On their debut album, the Montréal four-piece concocted the next progressive evolution in technical death metal by splicing together classic brutality and prog’s insatiable curiosity with a refreshing knack for melody. Now, ahead of their fifteenth anniversary tour in celebration of The Aura, the Independent Music and Lit Music Award winners and Canadian Grammy nominees are releasing their first new song in eight years.    

Beyond Creation are thrilled to announce their new single, “Reverence”. While burdened by heavy expectations and the ashes of doubt, like a phoenix, the band rise in a brilliant display of strength and spirit.

“Our new single explores the fragile line between clarity and illusion, between introspection and insanity, where the search for meaning can either elevate us or consume us”, Beyond Creation’s vocalist, guitarist and lyricist Simon Girard says. “But the truth is simple and powerful: the moment you stop comparing and start focusing on who you truly are and what you genuinely want to express, something beautiful happens. You create from a place of honesty. You grow with purpose. What you achieve becomes something you can be proud of, because it is unique, real and entirely your own”.

Like all creative minds, “Reverence” begins uninhibited. Girard and fellow guitarist Kevin Chartré trade notes freely, responding to one another with the grace and understanding that comes from playing in a band together for more than 15 years. But this moment of elation proves painfully brief. “Thrown into a sea of endless thoughts”, Girard screams as chugging riffs bring the song crumbling under the weight of expectations. “A quiet war within my core”. Pushed to a breaking point, the band headbang as if trapped inside their own metal prison.  

“With social media, we are constantly measuring ourselves against others”, Girard says. “The more we compare, the further we drift from our true selves and our authentic voice. We are lost amidst stress and insecurity. We feel that our ideas lack value, that our techniques are insufficient and our identity is somehow flawed”.

But even though “Reverence” is tormented by outside voices, Beyond Creation remain a guiding force for progressive technical death metal. In the wake of the song’s crushing breakdown, drummer Philippe Boucher leads the band toward the light at the end of its maze-like tunnels with the command of his cymbals and marching snare. “From the abyss, my body will rise / my soul fill fly / my spirit will shine”, Girard growls with renewed conviction. As bassist Hugo Doyon-Karout gently lifts the coda to a higher plane of existence with mind-bending runs, Beyond Creation’s aura burns brighter than ever.

 

“Once we stop with the comparisons, we free ourselves to grow”, Girard concludes. “We flourish in ways we never thought possible”.

TOM & I Release New Single “The Night The Sky Cried In Atlanta,” A Tribute To Brent Hinds

Atlanta, Georgia. Atlanta-based band TOM & I announce the release of their powerful new single, “The Night The Sky Cried In Atlanta,” an emotionally charged tribute honoring the life, legacy, and lasting influence of Brent Hinds.

Formed in 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia, TOM & I is a songwriting-driven collective built on emotional honesty, musical depth, and atmospheric storytelling. The band features Jason Schwartzwalder on guitar and vocals, Tom Cheshire on vocals and percussion, Dillon Zehner on bass, and Steve Seachrist on pedal steel. Drawing from backgrounds that include acclaimed projects such as WEST END MOTEL and TCB, the group blends experience and vulnerability into a sound that is sad and somber yet undeniably beautiful and memorable.

“The Night The Sky Cried In Atlanta” was written as a direct tribute to Brent Hinds following his tragic passing in a motorcycle accident. The song emerged immediately in the wake of loss, composed by Jason Schwartzwalder and Tom Cheshire, who shared a deep personal and musical bond with Hinds through WEST END MOTEL.

Built around delicately picked diminished chords, the track creates an uneasy yet comforting sonic landscape that mirrors grief itself. Each note is intentionally spaced, reflecting emotional disorientation while guiding the listener through themes of mourning, remembrance, and healing. 

For Schwartzwalder, the passing of one of Atlanta’s most influential guitar voices deeply impacted both artist and fan alike. For Cheshire, the loss was intensely personal, representing the passing of a close friend and bandmate. Together, their collaboration transforms grief into music, creating what can best be described as a sonic eulogy.

This single captures loss from two perspectives. One perspective reflects the fan mourning a musical hero. The other reflects a best friend and collaborator channeling personal heartbreak directly into song. Cheshire’s soulful and haunting vocal performance echoes memories of friendship, life, and mortality, channeling the emotional weight felt across Atlanta’s music community and far beyond. Recorded by musicians long connected to the city’s creative scene, including years spent working within MASTODON’s studio environment, the single stands as both personal remembrance and communal tribute.

Influenced by artists such as Tom Waits, Thin Lizzy, Tori Amos, and WEST END MOTEL, TOM & I pursue a creative direction centered on finding beauty within sadness and meaning within struggle. The result is music rooted in authenticity, emotional depth, and timeless songwriting.

Employing a dazzling mix of glam rock, hard rock, and progressive rock, Angel's outrageous, white-satin-heavy image and equally over-the top stage shows, making them one of the more colorful arena rock bands of the mid-'70s and early '80s. Discovered by KISS bass player, Gene Simmons, the group issued their eponymous debut album in 1975, which hewed closer to prog rock than the glam pop that would be on future endeavors like White Hot (1978) and Sinful (1979). The group released a total of five studio albums and one live album before going their separate ways in 1981. The band officially re-formed in 2019 with original members, Punky Meadows and Frank DiMino, and released their comeback studio effort, Risen, later that October and followed up with Once Upon A Time in 2023.

The group's sophomore album Helluva Band was originally released in 1976 for Casablanca Records with a line-up comprising of Frank DiMino (vocals), Punky Meadows (guitar), Gregg Giuffria (keyboards), Mickie Jones (bass), and Barry Brandt (drums). Helluva Band was a strong and quick follow up to their classic 1975 debut and featured the epic “The Fortune” alongside heavier tracks like “Mirrors” and “Feelin’ Right”.

Now to celebrate the 50th Anniversary this classic has been remastered and is being released on both a 6-panel CD digipak and on 180G vinyl in two amazing Limited-Edition Colors with liner notes by journalist Dave Reynolds. Once assimilated into a false sense of security and relentless propaganda they began to act out against what they hate about themselves. The transition begins to escape from the self hatred and the lashing out against people who believed in the same ideas. I feel the lyrics truly follow the transitions of the song. Starting with disappointment and arriving at anger.”

Season of Mist Signs The Ghoulstars

Despite their ghostly appearance, The Ghoulstars are a collection of real talent. Axeman Markus “Daddy Ghoul” Laakso and goose-bumping drummer Toni “Ghoulio” Ronkainen shared a past life together in the Top Ten charting Finnish death-doom band Kuolemanlaakso. Bassist Markus “Hella Ghoul” Makkonen formerly haunted the low end for Season of Mist labelmates Hooded Menace while moonhowler Arthur “LL Ghoul A” Thure croons for the stoner rockers Thermate.

Over the last four years, The Ghoulstars have captivated press and tantalized crowds in their native haunt of Finland without releasing a single bloody track.  Until now! The skeletal supergroup of horror punks are about to raise the curtain from their monstrously catchy debut album, which mashes together everything that blew their minds as kids: surf beats, headbanging metal riffs, shout-along punk rock choruses and B-movie horror.

“We can’t wait to unleash our delightful horrors upon the world with Season of Mist, a revered label with a sharp eye for unique talent”, Laakso says. “Our upcoming debut album is a love letter to ‘80s aesthetics, B-movies, huge riffs, big choruses, punk rock, metal, surprising curveballs and the sheer joy of all the pieces falling into the right places. As my long-time collaborator and the album’s mixing engineer V. Santura of the mighty Triptykon told me: ‘The record is unique, catchy and a really fun listen’. Haste the Day Drop "Liminal" Visualizer (Feat. Garrett Russell from Silent Planet)

HASTE THE DAY, the metalcore band that made a scene splash in the '00s, returned in 2024 with the video for the new song "Burn." They also appeared at Furnace Fest that year. It was their first music in nearly a decade. But they didn't stop there. Not a chance!  Earlier this month, the beloved band announce its new album DISSENTER will arrive May 1 on Solid State Records. Haste The Day conjure the sound of coming full circle. The Indiana-bred band rekindles the spark at the heart of their signature style by sharpening the edges, tightening the melodies, and amplifying the scope with cinematic ambition. Haste The Day have clung to their integrity since initially emerging at the turn of the century. Following Burning Bridges [2004] and When Everything Falls [2005], Stephen made his formal debut as the group's frontman on Pressure The Hinges [2007]. The band unleashed a trio of fan favorite offerings, namely Dreamer [2008], the seminal Attack Of The Wolf King [2010], and Coward [2015]. The latter marked their second straight Top 20 entry on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart and second Top 10 on the Hard Rock Albums Chart. Along the way, they toured with everyone from Hollywood Undead to Norma Jean. Despite going dormant in 2016, they amassed tens of millions of streams and continued to resonate with an ever-expanding audience. As such, their 2023 reunion gig at the sold-out Furnace Fest was met with overwhelming enthusiasm. "While we take the music side of DISSENTIENCE very seriously, the 'Kaiju' video was a great excuse to have some fun with the whole concept." The band shares. "The last thing the world needs is another 'band in a warehouse' or 'live on stage' music video, so we wanted to do things a little differently. Keeping the monster off-screen, we leaned into the B-Movie aspect of our inspiration as it seemingly picks us off one by one. Running around on a freezing day in northeast PA was absolutely brutal, but Sarah from Novro Studios absolutely nailed the edit and made all the frostbite worth it!"

"Kaiju" is the title track and narrative climax of their newly released four-track concept EP. The song's lyrics describe grotesque scenes of bloodshed and helplessness as the unseen terror rips through the last remnants of resistance. Sonically, brutal gutturals, riffs and rhythmic fury build with intensity throughout as the sense of urgency and impending doom escalates.

Kaiju was produced by the band alongside Corey Pierce, the record was engineered by Matt Menafro at Peach Pie Sound, mixed by Zeuss, and mastered by Alan Douches. The music video for "Kaiju" was shot and edited by Sarah Novroski & Novro Studios. The full EP is released independently and available on digital and CD formats.

COUNTRY ROCK POWERHOUSE KASEY TYNDALL TEAMS UP WITH PLATINUM-SELLING ROCK BAND POP EVIL FOR NEW SINGLE, “MAYBE YOU’RE THE ONE”:

Country-rock standout Kasey Tyndall joins forces with platinum-selling rock band Pop Evil for the powerful new single, “Maybe You’re The One.” The track delivers a soaring call-and-response rock ballad driven by grit, emotion, and arena-ready energy.

Pop Evil’s Leigh Kakaty had most of the song written, but wanted to partner with a female country artist who shared the song's vision. With Pop Evil and Tyndall already labelmates, the partnership came together naturally. The artists met in Nashville last fall to record the track with producer Derek Wells (known for work with HARDY, Jordan Davis, Maddie & Tae, and Post Malone).

Tyndall says, “As I established on my last record, rock music has always been a big influence on my sound.  I knew I wanted to embrace it even more by expanding my audience to that genre.  When someone suggested a collaboration with Pop Evil, it was a no-brainer -  their music is so authentic. When I met Leigh, he was so passionate about the song that the recording process was a breeze, as he incorporated both our sounds. PAUL CAUTHEN SHARES UNFILTERED DUET “CHAIN SMOKING” (FEAT. DELANEY RAMSDELL) AHEAD OF ALBUM RELEASE

With his authoritative fifth album Book of Paul just one month away, country iconoclast Paul Cauthen gives fans a taste of its unfiltered artistry on “Chain Smoking” (featuring Delaney Ramsdell) – a slow-burning duet so vivid, it should come with a Surgeon General’s warning. Co-written by Cauthen with Beau Bedford and Jason Burt, “Chain Smoking” (featuring Delaney Ramsdell) arrives as an aching barstool ballad, with the sharp pain of a breakup hanging heavy in the air. 
 
Pairing the Texas native’s Big Velvet vocal with smoky roots-country counterpoint, finger-picked acoustic guitar and weary steel swirl in a dive-bar haze of romantic devastation. As a striking look at the emotional fire powering Cauthen’s next chapter, the track soon rises into bellowing soundtrack to full-flavor sorrow, where more pain is the one-and-only cure.

Extreme death metal masters INFERI are now unleashing a brand new music video for the brutal title track of their upcoming new full-length, 'Heaven Wept,' which is due on April 10, 2026 via The Artisan Era! The clip features a montage of the band's live performances and candid behind-the-scenes footage, which were taken at various shows during INFERI's last few tours. INFERI comments, "It brings us great pleasure to present the title track of our upcoming album, 'Heaven Wept.' This was actually the first song we finished for the album, and it's crushing yet groovy atmosphere solidified the bedrock of theological horror we sought to build upon. XCOMM are a ferocious hardcore punk band from Venice Beach, fusing old-school intensity with a modern sense of chaos and clarity. Formed in 2023, the band features frontman Michael Gatto, bassist Adan Escoto, drummer Revel Ian, and DJ/sampler Hunter Grogan.

Signed to Blowed Out Records, XCOMM recorded their upcoming debut album Time To Burn with the legendary Ross Robinson producing. Early singles “Reasons,” “Fake ID,” and “Hot Pursuit / One And Nothing” showcase their ability to bottle frustration, urgency, and sharp self-awareness into precise, pummeling anthems. “Fake ID” alone has amassed over 2.5 million views across all platforms, helping propel the band to nearly 50,000 Instagram followers in just a few short weeks.

XCOMM kicked off 2026 supporting the Foo Fighters at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles and were named in the prestigious NME 100 of 2026. In 2025, they shared a stage with Down at Milwaukee Metal Fest, earned heavy rotation on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal and Faction Punk. APOSTLE Announce New Album A Splinter in the Infinite Noumenon, Release Crushing New Single "Swine"

ATLANTA, GA metal trio APOSTLE have announced their forthcoming full-length album A Splinter in the Infinite Noumenon, set for release June 5, 2026 via Terminus Hate City. Alongside the announcement, the band has unveiled the album’s first single, "Swine", accompanied by a visualizer.

Formed in 2017, APOSTLE have built a reputation for blending the aggression of grindcore and chaotic hardcore with the atmosphere of post-black metal and the melodic weight of shoegaze and post-rock. Their sound is urgent, emotive, and cathartic, drawing influence from bands such as Plebeian Grandstand, Yellow Eyes, Wiegedood, Mourier, and Kły. With A Splinter in the Infinite Noumenon, the Atlanta trio deliver their most cohesive and devastating work to date.

"Swine" erupts with panicked tremolo melodies and punishing rhythmic shifts, channeling collective frustration into controlled chaos. Lyrically, the track confronts systems of oppression, consequence, and accountability, using stark imagery and visceral delivery to underscore the emotional and political weight behind its message. The song captures APOSTLE at their most confrontational while maintaining the dynamic depth and melodic sensibility that define the band’s evolving identity.

The album title references Carl Jung’s description of humanity as a “splinter in the infinite deity,” framing the record as an exploration of spiritual duality, grief, and self-examination. Across six tracks and 27 minutes, the band move through themes of loss, mortality, internal conflict, and eventual healing. The record serves as both a meditation on the human condition and a deeply personal tribute shaped by grief and remembrance.

UK death metal band UNBURIER has returned with their latest EP, As Time Awaits on February 27th 2026. Uncompromisingly vicious but performed with utmost precision, the band expands their sonic scope while honing the intensity that defined their previous releases. With their new drummer Kim Hughes joining the lineup, UNBURIER unleashes a perfect storm of fresh energy and renewed technicality, pushing their blend of old-school and modern death metal to new extremes. Known for raw ferocity and deft performances, UNBURIER sharpens their approach on this release with tighter songwriting, bigger hooks, and a more refined, punishing delivery.

The EP opens ominously with the intro of "Continuum", then charges onward into the depths and never lets up. Darkness prevails on "Continuum" with a groovy rhythm section and tastefully melodic guitar leads. Powerful mid-range vocals drive the song, occasionally layered with guttural growls to add depth and intensity. The melodies are underpinned with elegantly-phrased fretless bass lines and tight, progressive drumming. The track steadily builds momentum before hitting a breakdown that shifts the dynamics, leading into back-to-back solos that showcase the band’s musicianship. Lyrically, "Continuum" explores the collapse of rigid beliefs and the confusion that follows. It paints a picture of spiraling ideas and false guidance, revealing the emptiness behind so-called truths. The track dives into the tension between light and darkness, truth and deception, showing how we wrestle with meaning in a world full of contradictions. Dark, intense, and unflinching, it sets a tone of uneasy reflection and relentless questioning.

Next, kicking off with a section of torrential, arpeggiated dissonance, "Abyssal Uncertainty" quickly announces its brutality before diving into rapid, NECROPHAGIST-inspired riffing. The fretless bass weaves in and out of each riff, acting as the translator between the frantic guitars and precise drumming. Despite shifting meter and tempo, the song maintains a consistent feel and raw edge throughout, sonically illustrating the darkened narrative. It features the standout solo of the EP, utilizing the track's unyielding brutality as momentum into a soaring passage that showcases a more playful lead guitar style. "Abyssal Uncertainty" is the most lyrically-ambitious track of the EP, with nods to Camus, Lovecraft and other literary influences. The listener is invited to witness a trapped laborer's descent into madness, reflecting on and acknowledging the absurdity of his life and death. The struggles depicted here represent those of anyone who has been forced to devote themselves to someone else's greed, and the yearning for a world where we can each live in accordance with our own nature.

Finally, "Survive the Vermin" ends the EP with the appropriate blend of ferocity and spellbinding technicality. Vocalist and guitarist Ben Champion shows off a viscerally emotive vocal range, skillfully punctuating his mid-range snarls with screeching highs for maximum impact. Bassist Stan Mitchell and drummer Kim Hughes lay the foundation for the song's intensity with a punchy, driving rhythm section. Guitarist Blake Hibberd propels the momentum forward with a relentless barrage of twisting, turning, shredding leads. The lyrics of "Survive The Vermin" develop themes of purpose and identity on the EP through a first-person account of a cosmic, immortal warrior. Surrendering flesh for steel, the narrator struggles to detach themselves from the sensations they thought to have discarded. The lyrics ask if, when we give ourselves wholly to one purpose, it is worth sacrificing the simplicity of everyday life. Paying homage to sci-fi author Nate Crowley and absurdist philosophy, "Survive The Vermin" provides the most direct declaration of the themes behind the EP.

Newcomers to UNBURIER's realm of fury and technicality will find As Time Awaits to be a compelling introduction to the band's evolving sound, and longtime listeners will be proud to follow the band’s growth across their earlier releases.

Everyone's favorite pop punk disruptor, Ray Hawthorne, is back in his feelings and out of his body. Following the anthemic chaos of his recent single, "Sidelines" and his sophomore album, "Ray Hawthorne Isn't Real" the Los Angeles-based firebrand returns with "Somewhere Else," a dizzy, late night confessional about being physically present but emotionally checked out. You won’t be able to look away. But the comments are turned off, so you can’t even get a feel for what people are thinking about these reels. You’d have to look up some YouTube think-piece about it, and I don’t have time for that. Alright, actually I had to look it up. I just did a basic YouTube search for “Britney Spears Instagram”. A video popped up with a thumbnail that says “Is it her sister with AI of her face? Is she alive?”. I gotta watch this shit, will report back.

Oh my god. That’s 30 minutes of my life I’ll never get back. Let me save you some time, this video is bullshit, Britney Spears is still alive, she is NOT just Zoey 101 with an AI face no matter what “Ready to Glare” on YouTube might suggest. Just leave Britney alone and listen to my new song instead. It’s called Somewhere Else.”

Do you remember that episode of Degrassi where Ashley really wants Craig to tell her he loves her, but Craig gets all panicked and can’t tell her that he does? It causes so much drama in their relationship. She begins to question her feelings for him and because of that, he becomes seemingly unsure of his feelings for her. So, in an effort to quell the bad vibes, Craig writes a song that includes lyrics IMPLICITLY AND EXPLICITLY stating that he loves her. (Total banger by the way, the only song of his I like better is the one he sings at the battle of the bands after the two inevitably break up, it’s also about Ashley. I believe it’s called ‘What I Know’) Anyway, Craig was only able to admit he loved Ashley in song form, but you as the viewer are left wondering ‘Does he really love her, or was this just his solution to end the drama?’ Or, ’Is this truly the only way he can express himself because he’s kind of nervous about speaking his true feelings outside of the structured environment of a song?’. I tend to believe it’s a mixture of both. So what I’m trying to say is, this collection of songs is kind of like that. I always feel like I have so much to say but often feel a bit too vulnerable when discussing my actual feelings. So for the majority of my life, I’ve just written them into songs instead. These songs can be quite vulnerable even if they seem silly at times. So now you’re left to wonder... am I telling the truth or just trying to get rid of Ashley’s bad vibes?
