The Great Old Ones Premiere 'Kadath'

It's been six long years since The Great Old Ones released their last cosmic chapter of Lovecraftian lore. Finally, the French band has returned with another batch of dark tales, though now with a new twist. On Kadath, the post-black scribes climb out of Cthulhu only to descend into the dark heart of the Dreamlands. 

"Great stuff for metalheads who like their fiction the same way they like their metal - dark, heavy, and highly disturbing" Metal Trenches wrote in their 9/10 review of Kadath.

On Kadath, The Great Old Ones draws the listener deeper into the dream-haunted world of Lovecraft's strapping young hero. Always one to keep his head in the clouds, Randolph Carter embarks on a mind quest through the treacherous Dreamlands. But as the divine gods of old would have it, his nocturnal journey springs to life with otherworldly perils that push him to the brink of insanity.

The two-part epic "Me, The Dreamer" opens the album like an accursed bout with insomnia, tossing and turning amidst raging riffs. Just as Carter glimpses the stoned visage of the Gods on Mount Ngranek, "In the Mouth of Madness" sucks him into the grip of the nightgaunts with unflinching blast beats. 

"Climbing the huge stone steps, seeing yellowish-red eyes, I’m running under, under the sign of Koth" vocalist Benjamin Guerry wails on "Under the Sigh of Koth" as the band tear through the very fabric that dreams are made of.

Recorded under the vigilant eye of Francis Caste at Studio Sainte-Marthe, Paris, Kadath's production is nothing short of sorcerous. Paradise Slaves (Ex-36 Crazyfists, Diecast) Announce Debut Album "With Hell In His Eyes" + Share "Dreamer" Video

PARADISE SLAVES, the brand new band featuring former members of 36 CRAZYFISTS and DIECAST, will release their debut album With Hell In His Eyes on May 2 via Spinefarm.

"To me, the overall concept of With Hell In His Eyes is to never surrender, continue to fight, and continue to be grateful for life," states singer Brock Lindow. "Those were my thoughts. I'm a 49-year-old man who has lived and learned a lot. No one is perfect. Coming to this realization, trying to be better each day is a definitely goal."

A chugging palm-muted riff slips into an airy verse punctuated a breathy melody. The rush climaxes on a chantable chorus "I would've traded everything, but it kept running from me."
 
"My wife is from South Africa, and we battled immigration for five years," Lindow explains, offering a deep look at the highly personal subject matter. "She couldn't leave the entire time, and her parents had gotten sick. It was really rough. It's about our situation, the personal struggle, the hardships we dealt with."

The Boston-by-way-of-Anchorage quartet cements an uncanny union between aforementioned vocal powerhouse Lindow (36 Crazyfists), solo artist and guitarist Tyler Stroetzel, guitarist Jon Kita (Diecast), bassist Brad Horion (Diecast), and drummer Ryan Manning (Pentagram, Blitzkid). 
 
Mutual admiration and respect sparked the initial flame for Paradise Slaves, yet their newly forged friendship lit up their chemistry as brightly as a pyre. That same energy surges through their full-length debut album.
 
As the story goes, Killswitch Engage guitarist Joel Stroetzel shot a text over to Lindow mid-pandemic. As it turned out, his younger brother Tyler was putting together a solo album, Dark Verses, Vol. 1, and wanted Lindow to sing on a track. Right away, the duo hit it off as collaborators and buddies. 
 
Following the first song, they continued to write and record. Given his longstanding friendship with Brock, Kita naturally fit in and joined the fold followed by Horion and Manning. Jamming away, they nodded to formative inspirations such as Soundgarden and Alice In Chains twisted up with just the right amount of hardcore grit and heavy metal eloquence. In between, they performed alongside the likes of Killswitch Engage, Fit For An Autopsy, and more. Eventually, the group congregated at Tin Bridge Studios in Massachusetts in order to record.

"This band is something I didn't expect," admits Lindow. "After it fell in my lap, I was making new music with new people and we became brothers, and for that, I'm so grateful. When you get a gift like this, you need to put your best foot forward and have some fire. I definitely still have the same fire and love for making music as I always had and it manifests in Paradise Slaves."

EMPLOYED TO SERVE Share New Single "Atonement" (Feat. Will Ramos of Lorna Shore) + Music Video Out Now!

Leading lights of British metal, EMPLOYED TO SERVE, take pride in their place on the heavy metal world stage as they return with a brand new single "Atonement" feat. Will Ramos of Lorna Shore. The band also shares the release date of April 25th for their long-awaited new studio album, ‘Fallen Star.’

“We want to fly the flag for heavy metal and the traditions that it holds,” offers guitarist and songwriter Sammy Urwin, “But at the same time we want to play our part in taking things forward.”

The track features Lorna Shore’s Will Ramos, who in addition to his guttural growls, offers clean vocals for the first time ever on an album feature. The song is built around distorted guitars, battering-ram rhythms, and a Judas Priest-style solo, before shooting into what vocalist Justine Jones describes as “an arena rock chorus!”

“'Atonement' takes aim at those who try to lord their power over you. The only way to defeat these people is by rising above their behaviour and pushing forward on your own path,”explains Sammy. “We wanted to lead with this single because it is the track that encompasses the ethos of EMPLOYED TO SERVE as a whole. We're strong believers of working hard and not letting life and the negative people in it affect your goals and aspirations.”

The music video was largely filmed in Scranton, PA, home of the American mockumentary sitcom, The Office (US). 

Justine adds, "The studio was a shrine to the show, and Dwight, which was fun to explore in between filming! We wanted to portray someone in power/authority trying to wear down their captive through aggression. I found it very hard to keep a straight face while choking out Sammy, by take 15 or so I got more into it as the jetlag and hot weather made me feel more unhinged...”

Since meeting in their teens on the outskirts of London, vocalist Justine Jones and guitarist / co-vocalist Sammy Urwin have had their sights fixed on the road ahead. PERFECT PLAN unveils their new single and accompanying video “Heart Of A Lion”, the title track from the upcoming studio album, 'Heart Of A Lion', set for release on February 28th, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl.

Lead singer Kent Hilli describes the title track by saying:

“'Heart Of A Lion' is inspired by our Swedish football hero Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his story and career. A magnificent football player with a very inspiring story. I can relate to the struggles he had as a youth growing up in Sweden turning his setbacks and people talking him down to fuel for development and reaching higher. The passion, ambition and drive he has is truly one of a kind. He also has the Lion as his “spirit animal” which - together with his unique drive - inspired me for the lyrics and theme of the song”.

Talking about the album, he states:

“The new album is once again showcasing that we have developed and matured as a band in terms of songwriting and production. PERFECT PLAN’s fourth studio album, 'Heart Of A Lion' marks the culmination of the band’s musical production to date. Over the course of their first trilogy of albums, 'All Rise', 'Time For A Miracle' and 'Brace for Impact', the Swedes have quickly established themselves as a new gold standard in not only the Scandinavian melodic rock genre, but the melodic rock genre as a whole.

Kent Hilli is a one of a kind singer that gained world reputation almost from the start. Songwriters Hall of Fame Class of 2025 Recognizes Ashley Gorley

CBS News Senior Culture Correspondent Anthony Mason revealed the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame Class of 2025 honorees this morning on CBS Mornings recognizing inductees The Doobie Brothers, George Clinton, Mike Love from the Beach Boys, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins alongside Nashvillian Ashley Gorley. Gorley was at home starting his day as the news broke.

“I’m honestly shocked. I started out in the tape room listening to some of the greatest songwriters turn in demos,” Gorley shares, reflecting on his journey. “Being welcomed into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and this legendary group of music makers is a dream come true. I’ve always looked up to this organization, and I’m proud to join representing Nashville and the country music community.

“I’ve attended this event as a fan and it always leaves me inspired, so this moment is truly surreal for me and my family,” Gorley adds. “I’m incredibly grateful for the Hall of Fame and all the songwriting heroes who shaped music as we know it today, and I’m looking forward to celebrating everyone in June.”

Morgan Wallen congratulated his friend and “Love Somebody” and “Last Night” collaborator sharing, “Ashley, your talent and work ethic are unmatched. I’m glad you’re being celebrated for your craft and there is no one more deserving of this honor. After as many hits as you’ve had, you don’t have to show up like you do for me and other artists and writers, and yet, your passion and love of songwriting inspires us every day. Gorley grew up in Danville, Kentucky and attended Belmont University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1999. Since, he has continued to give back to the University through leading seminars, mentoring students and serving as an adjunct instructor. Gorley has met with Senators and The Library of Congress to promote songwriters’ rights and bills such as the Music Modernization Act. In 2011, Gorley formed his own publishing and artist development company, Tape Room Music. Under his leadership and mentorship writers for Tape Room have celebrated 50 No. 1 songs, including 2018 ASCAP Country Song of the Year, “Body Like A Back Road,” 2021 ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC Country Song, “One Of Them Girls,” and 10-week Country Airplay number-one hit, “World On Fire.” An 8-time NSAI, 11-time ASCAP and 2023 Songwriter of the Year (all-genre) by Variety, the publication proclaimed “Gorley is widely considered contemporary country’s most successful writer.” In 2024 he supported the launch of a program designed for the creative community by The Onsite Foundation: Creatives Support Network, providing free mentorship, education, resources and mental wellness support specifically designed for members of the songwriting community gifting 80 grants for 80 individuals to commemorate his 80th chart-topper. VLTIMAS brought Italian artist Daniele Valeriani (Mayhem, Unanimated) to visualize EPIC. The aesthetic, as illuminated by music and message, was iconic boldness. The three-eagle head crest with three different crowns, accompanied by transfigured symbols of the Passion and the "impossible triangle," projects effortlessly. In EPIC, the group will dominate. There's no escape from "Miserere," "Mephisto Manifesto," "Scorcher," and "Invictus." Together, they thrust, by resolve and inventiveness, VLTIMAS into the uppermost echelons of extreme metal.

"[EPIC is] old meets contemporary, a symbiosis of all the great things we love about extreme metal," offers Eriksen. "All combined into one album."

About one month ago ELUVEITIE released ‘Premonition’, the first new music after two long years. Today the band announce their new album Ànv, which will be released on April 25th, 2025 via Nuclear Blast Records. ELUVEITIE also shares the second song 'The Prodigal Ones' from the upcoming album. BEWITCHER Announces U.S. March Tour

All the best tunes belong to the Devil, and Portland’s bastard sons BEWITCHER have returned to take back rock n’ roll in Baphomet’s name. The band is now joining forces with DEATHCHANT to co-headline a U.S. tour in celebration of their latest offering, 'Spell Shock,' along with support from PERSEKUTOR. In conjunction with BEWITCHER's appearance at Hell's Heroes Festival on March 30, the speed metal demons will wreak havoc across the country from March 14 in San Francisco, CA until the final stop back in their hometown of Portland on April 5! Bassist A. Magus comments, “Few bands are as aligned with us in their love of all things Motörhead and Sabbath than DEATHCHANT. When the opportunity came to join forces for a spring run to Hells Heroes and back, we couldn’t say no. Joining Von Bewitcher, bassist A. Magus, and drummer A. Hunter in the studio this time was none other longtime BEWITCHER fan Lars Frederiksen. Most of the world knows Frederiksen as a force in his own right, playing in the likes of Bay Area punk heroes Rancid, as well as his own Old Firm Casuals. While to some, it may have been an unlikely pairing with Frederiksen taking the producer’s seat, for everyone in the studio the connection was immediate.

As Frederiksen previously commented on 'Spell Shock': "It’s the best record I’ve ever produced for one of the best bands in the world."

Magus explains about their experience with Frederiksen: “[Lars’] knowledge of heavy metal, black metal and thrash – as well as punk, is vast and extreme. It was definitely a match made in hell.'

"'Moving To California" was always a dream of mine when I was a young guitar player going up in Toronto, Canada. From a distance, it always seemed like the place to be. When I moved there in '97, a lot of the ROCK glamor was gone, but I stayed and stuck to my goals. The song is a reflection of my story & other stories I had heard along the way."

DUSTIN LYNCH GETS “NAUGHTY-CAL” AT 10TH ANNIVERSARY CRASH MY PLAYA POOL PARTY

It was a celebration for the ages, as MULTI-PLATINUM star Dustin Lynch hosted a wet-and-wild 10th Anniversary CMP Pool Party at Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa 2025 in Riviera Cancún, Mexico, last Friday (1/17). 

Themed “LET’S GET NAUGHTY-CAL,” a rowdy mix of nautical vibes, Yacht Rock flow, and college party chaos ensued for the 4K partiers. Making a grand entrance on jet skis with his band, Lynch rode to the beach in style with a parrot on his shoulder. Then, firing up a full-blown parade once he hit the sand, a mariachi band, samba dancers, and fire-blowers joined him en route to the stage to officially kick off the festivities. 

Performing two live sets featuring Yacht Rock covers like “September” (Earth, Wind & Fire), “Rich Girl” (Daryl Hall & John Oates), and “Africa” (Toto), among smash hits across his 10 #1s including “Stars Like Confetti,” “Thinking ‘Bout You (feat. MacKenzie Porter),” and latest chart-topper “Chevrolet (feat. Miranda Lambert's MuttNation Teams w/ Norman's Rare Guitars for Auction Benefiting Fire-Impacted CA Shelters

The most-awarded artist in Academy of Country Music history and one of country music’s most passionate animal advocates, Miranda Lambert, has partnered with legendary guitar dealer Norm Harris of Norman’s Rare Guitars to help Los Angeles area animal shelters with wildfire recovery. 

Harris is as widely known for his compassion and generosity as he is for his knowledge of guitars, which is well-attested to in the Netflix documentary “Norman’s Rare Guitars.” He and a close friend have each donated a one-of-a-kind Gibson R9 1959 Les Paul Reissue Custom Shop Murphy Lab guitar for auction to benefit animals. 
 
“The fires have displaced so many people and animals, and I wanted to do something that would immediately help the overcrowded animal shelters,” shared Harris. “When my friend said he wanted to buy one of these guitars – but that he didn’t want the guitar – he wanted to auction it and have the funds go support animals, I jumped right in and said I’d donate one, too. These are two incredibly special guitars, each with a slightly different finish that I hand-selected. The guitars have a value of over $8,000 each, but this is for charity, so I hope people will be generous.”

“Although I haven’t met Norm, I’ve heard about him and his guitar store for years and the next time I’m in L.A., it will be my first stop,” said Lambert. “There’s nothing better than finding another like-minded music and mutt-loving person and I’m really honored that he chose to partner with MuttNation.”
