WORMWITCH Unveils Music Video for New Song, "Draconick Sorcerous Canadian Witchknights"

Blackened speed metal entity WORMWITCH will unleash their eponymous fourth studio album on July 26, 2024 via Profound Lore Records! The Canadian necromancers are now unleashing the pummeling second single from the offering, "Draconick Sorcerous Canadian Witchknights," along with a music video! The clip, which was created by George Allen & Eric Tremblay, can be found below.

Wormwitch comments, "Another favourite… this one is our grim ode to 'Travelin’ Band.' We shot the video with some good friends at Hipposonic Studios in Vancouver, formerly Vancouver Studios where Metallica, AC/DC and Mötley Crüe made classic records. Not that it matters because we filled the place with fog and darkness. Enjoy, friends.”

WORMWITCH sets out to combine a melodic blackened death assault with the ferocity and attitude of crust punk and classic rock and roll, jettisoning the burdens of ceremony and pomp that dominate the genre today.

The album can be pre-ordered in various formats HERE.

Like black wings from an obsidian sky, WORMWITCH descended from the darkness in 2015, somewhere upon the rain-soaked woodlands of coastal British Columbia. Animated from the bones of several local punk and metal bands, the new entity set out to combine a melodic blackened death assault with the ferocity and attitude of crust punk and classic rock and roll, jettisoning the burdens of ceremony and pomp that dominate the genre today.

WORMWITCH released their first demo, 'The Long Defeat' in 2015, and shortly after signed to Prosthetic Records, under whom they released 'Strike Mortal Soil' (2017), 'Heaven that Dwells Within' (2019), and 'Wolf Hex' (2021). During that time the band toured with the likes of The Black Dahlia Murder, Suffocation, Midnight, Necrot, Uada, Bewitcher, and many others, earning themselves a dedicated cult following and international critical praise. In 2022, WORMWITCH struck out to independently release a string of singles and embark upon several tours of North America. After a busy festival season, 2024 saw the release of a six-song split with Atlanta black-thrashers Sadistic Ritual.

Now, with blades meticulously honed and tempered under the light of a feral Canadian moon, WORMWITCH emerges once more to offer their fourth full length record. Simply self-titled, “Wormwitch” is a statement of a band coming into it’s own - a revelrous celebration of devilish speed, searing melody and diabolical intensity.

Manchester's THE SPEED OF SOUND channels The B-52s on new single 'Mind Palace', a lighthearted look at identity loss

"Buzzing fuzz guitar lines emerge from a delicate acoustic introduction to intersect with the crashing chords and the ‘bulbous pulsing’ rhythm section" ~ Record Collector Magazine

"it’s clear that the sonic kaleidoscope presented on The Speed of Sound’s new album is worth the wait - a musical compass in a direction we should all explore" ~ The Spill Magazine

“Unmistakeable sound a winning formula” ~ The Big Takeover

“A triumph of industry, imagination and talent, coolly novel and damned addictive” ~ Louder Than War

‘Unique and other worldly” ~ Vive Le Rock

“A form of Art-Pop that is wry, incisive, yet a deeply listenable examination of post industrial culture” ~ Rock At Night

"A riotous maelstrom of musical mayhem” ~ The Manc Review

Manchester indie rock / power pop outfit The Speed Of Sound present 'Mind Palace', a bright uplifting track delving into dementia and identity loss. This is the latest audio-visual offering from their new album 'A Cornucopia: Minerva'. The focus point of the three-volume set 'A Cornucopia: Minerva, Victory, Bounty'this is the band's second release via California-based cult label Big Stir Records.

Throughout their history, The Speed Of Sound have continuously produced music laced with optimism and lyrical bite, tapping the DIY ethos of punk and the restless lust for experimentation of psychedelia. Formed in 1989 with a pre-history dating back to the day Andy Warhol died in 1987, their music has always been idiosyncratic, counter-intuitive and perpetually looking for something new. Today The Speed of Sound is made up of father and son John Armstrong (guitars and vocals) and Henry Armstrong (keyboards), Ann-Marie Crowley (vocals and guitar), Kevin Roache (bass guitar) and John Broadhurst (drums).

Full of ambition, energy, and eccentric melodic brilliance, these future-retro-modernist garage-psych stalwarts have released this new three-album collection on vinyl and CD under the umbrella title 'A Cornucopia'. In essence, 'Minerva' is being released as a deluxe edition that includes two full-length bonus albums - 'Victory' and 'Bounty'. Earlier, they shared the hauntingly spacious 'Trickledown', the stratospherically vast 'The Great Acceleration' and 'West Wind', where a recklessly fast Bo Diddley rhythm merges with a Wagnerian horn section.

On 'Mind Palace', brisk pure pop power and harmony propel this homage to individual identity, memory and self-awareness - not the dull re-run memory of nostalgia, but the interactive memory that makes up a person's essence. Sparked by a visit to Sintra Palace in Portugal and recalling a Sherlock Holmes memory-file technique, 'Mind Palace' ponders the loss of self with fading memory as the 12-string chimes and canters.

Frontman John Armstrong explains, “The possibility of loss of individuality - loss of self - whether that be via dementia or an absorption into prevailing tastes is at the core of 'Mind Palace', its rapid onrush of pace reflects the spiral of water draining away. It celebrates the power of independence, not mere Deliberate Contrarianism but of self, and not deriving self worth from a relationship with mainstream culture.”

With 'A Cornucopia: Minerva' marking the band’s 35th anniversary, The Speed Of Sound returns triumphant, defiant and redemptive, following their 2021 critically acclaimed album 'Museum Of Tomorrow'. Named for the goddess associated with wisdom, the arts and strategic warfare, this album explores themes of resistance to mainstream cultural dominance, championing individual identity and artistic creativity whilst being a vigorous musical celebration of subcultural existence in the face of predominantly bland pop culture.

Each of the album's 14 kaleidoscopic tracks burst of radio-friendly technicolor, from the stripped back mediaeval folk-tinged starkness of 'The Harvest' to the acoustic guitar-driven groove of 'SS-100-X', from the spacious iridescence of 'Eight Fourteen Monday'to the lively ascendence of 'The Party Sniper' and the glowing radioactivity metaphor of 'Half Life'. While the bouncing vibe of 'Bodysnatchers' reminds us to stay awake and not slip into the drabness of normalcy, the crunching melodic punch of 'Clickbait' zings into the typewriter introduction of 'Yet Another Tuesday'. Then there is the punkifed rhythm and blues of 'So Faux' and the closing acoustic riot of 'Question Time'.

With their inbuilt eclectic and genre-defying style, The Speed Of Sound expand from their base-camp foundation of 1960s, punk and new wave influences, encompassing wide dynamic and stylistic variation, crossing borders and pushing boundaries at every opportunity while retaining continuity. Their music bursts with experimentation whilst retaining hooks and melodic sensibility, plus sharp barbed wit, lyrical depth and all-pervading sense of joy.

Irrespressible and uplifting, The Speed Of Sound have continuously produced music laced with optimism and lyrical bite, tapping the DIY ethos of punk and the restless lust for experimentation of psychedelia. Formed in 1989 with a pre-history dating back to the day Andy Warhol died in 1987, their music has always been idiosyncratic, counter-intuitive and perpetually looking for something new.

The 'Minerva' album is out now, available everywhere digitally, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp, and also on CD and vinyl. The 'Bounty' and 'Victory' albums will see digital editions over the next year,

The Way Forward is out now on Season of Mist

“The big theme of this record is putting your life back together.” That’s Black Tusk guitarist/vocalist Andrew Fidler talking about the band’s new album, The Way Forward. “When everything seems like it’s against you, put your head down and push through. Take those bad things that are happening and use them to help create.”

The Way Forward might be the Savannah swamp metal crew’s seventh album, but it marks many firsts for Black Tusk. It’s their first with their new lineup, which sees guitarist Chris “Scary” Adams and bassist Derek Lynch joining Fidler and drummer James May. Which also makes it Black Tusk’s first record with a two-guitar lineup. “We were able to add leads and harmonies and all kinds of stuff on the new record that we haven’t done in the past,” Fidler says. “As far as our records go, this one has the most guitar work.”

You can hear it in the squealing solo of “Dance on Your Grave,” the killer harmonies on ripper “Harness (The Alchemist),” and the glorious dual guitar interplay of the powerful title track.

“‘The Way Forward’ is my favorite song on the record,” Fidler says. “It’s based on a personal experience that everyone can probably relate to. I got divorced in 2020, and I kinda felt like my entire world was collapsing when that happened. But I pulled myself out of it. I realized that this one thing ending in my life isn’t the end of everything. I’m gonna find a way forward. I’m gonna figure out how to live my life and create and be happy and make new relationships. Which is what I’ve done.”

In true Black Tusk fashion, the new lineup has expanded their triple-vocal approach to quadruple. “Everyone is doing vocals,” Fidler says. “That’s always been a thing in Black Tusk. Derek said he’d never done heavy vocals before, so I was like, ‘Well, here’s the mic. Here’s some words. Yell at it and see if you like it.’ I was blown away the first time he did it. It sounded good as fuck.”

That’s Lynch on lead single “Brushfire,” a song for which he wrote the main riffs and lyrical concept. “That was my first real contribution to the band,” the bassist says. “Thematically, I wanted the aggressiveness of the lyrics to keep with the idea of pushing forward even when the world is trying to drag you down. The mood of the lyrics needed to match the pulverizing tempo of the song.”

The lyrics for second single “Dance on Your Grave” were written by May, who moved from Savannah to Athens, GA, in the time since Black Tusk’s last album. “It’s about his struggles through Covid and what this lifestyle can do to people,” Fidler says. “It’s about getting past the party lifestyle and continuing to do things that are creative.”

Meanwhile, “Breath of Life” distills Black Tusk’s lyrical philosophy into a righteous five-minute pummeling. “Scary came up with the main riff of this song, and it’s one of my favorite riffs on the record,” Fidler says. “I wrote the lyrics, and it’s just about darkness crushing everything. The world is a fucked-up place that we have to navigate through. That’s what a lot of Black Tusk songs are about.”

Black Tusk recorded The Way Forward at Adams’ own Hidden Audio studio just outside of Savannah. Adams engineered the album and the whole band produced. “I actually helped him build the studio in the detached garage next to his house,” Fidler explains. “Me and my carpentry company went out there to do it, and Scary helped.”

“We had about 90% of the riffs and song structures going into the studio, while still experimenting with ideas and inspirations,” Adams explains. “Sometimes we completely reworked parts, which made all the difference. For example, early versions of ‘Breath of Life’ and ‘The Way Forward’ are quite different than the record, and I love where they ended up. Though we did use a few effects and synths here and there for texture and space, to me this record still feels raw and powerful. It captures the feeling of being at a Black Tusk show.”

The cover art for The Way Forward was done by Brian Mercer, who also created the sleeve for Black Tusk’s 2018 album, T.C.B.T.T.C.B.T. had a dark cover because it was a dark time for the band,” Fidler says, referring to the period immediately after the passing of their longtime friend and bassist Jonathan Athon. “This time, it’s full blown, full-color Black Tusk. Brian Mercer and James collaborated on the concept, and Brian really knocked it out of the park.”

“The title is kind of a double play,” Fidler says. “It’s the first record with the new lineup, and this is the direction we’re taking the band in. We’ve been doing Black Tusk for 19 years now, and we still love it. That’s why we called it The Way Forward.”

Savage Lands Performing on Hellfest Main Stage

Loud buzzing is music to the ear of most metalheads. But Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren and guitarist Sylvain Demercastel are so enraged by the sound of chainsaws destroying Costa Rica's ecosystem that they've started Savage Lands, a musician-run 501 (c) 3 non-profit.

Savage Lands have protected 60,000 square feet of Costa Rican rainforest using royalties from their music. Next week, they're planting their ecological flag at Hellfest with a little help from some of their famous friends.

Savage Lands Live at Hellfest (Main Stage 02)
Friday, June 28 @ 5:35 - 6:30 pm CEST

Featuring special guests:

-
Andreas Kisser (Sepultura)
- Shane Embury (Napalm Death)
- Vincent Dennis (Body Count)
- Daniel de Jongh (Textures)
- Silje Wergeland (The Gathering)
- Jesper Liveröd (Nasum)
- Alejandro Londono Montoya (Cultura tres)

- Chloe Trujilo

During their hour-long set at Hellfest, Savage Lands will perform classic metal covers along with other songs off their upcoming album, including new single "No Remedy", which features Heilung's Maria Franz.

Watch the chilling video for "No Remedy" below

Stream: https://savagelands.fanlink.tv/NoRemedy

Whether they're planting trees or holed away in the studio, Savage Lands foster the spirit of collaboration. Recently, they made history by signing a joint manifesto that addresses the need for forest and wildlife preservation. This marks the first time that three active Costa Rican / US-based non-profits have officially banded together over a shared mission statement.

"No Remedy" follows the same approach, though to different results than Savage Land's first two singles. Sylvain still comes speeding out the gate with another burning riff that will ignite the crowd at Hellfest, but this is the most melodic song they've ever written. When the band hit the chorus, the guitars don't crunch but crest into warm, washed-out power chords.

"That's one of the beautiful things about Savage Lands", Sylvain says. "As a band, we're not limited to just one genre. We can adapt to boost the strengths of whomever is joining us".

Black Bomb A experts know Poun for his explosive screams, but on "No Remedy", he simmers down in service of guest vocalist Maria Franz. Heilung are also partnering with Savage Lands by donating $1 for every ticket sold on their 2024 US tour to support their reforestation efforts, but their faithful followers might be surprised to hear that her soothing clean singing fits right at home with a heavy metal band.

"Supporting what Savage Lands is doing on the ground in Costa Rica was an easy decision" Maria says. After all, Heilung have a tradition of donating to tree planting initiatives. "But when Sylvain sent me 'No Remedy', there was a sense of melancholy to the song that really resonated with me".

Protecting the environment is the heartbeat of every Savage Lands song. "No Remedy" can be seen as a reflection on destroying the planet. The video was shot in an abandoned, run-down building that was once owned by Napoleon. But the song speaks to other human concerns. "I am locked in my head / And I lost the key", Poun bemoans, his quiet desperation only answered by Maria's haunting echo ("Never, never now").

"We are all helpless to stop the passing of time", Sylvain says. At the end of the video, the band members disappear from the screen, one by one, using an old-school film technique. "Each of us is left with only our memories".

Still, "No Remedy" does find a silver lining. "What do we need to live together?" Poun and Maria sing, their voices climbing, almost circling each other, before locking into perfect harmony. They might look mad as hell while yelling at each other across the kitchen table, but the whole video crew was in stitches after the sixth take of Maria throwing water on poor Poun. "Whether we're talking about the environment or our friendships, it's vital that we appreciate what we have during our time on this earth", Sylvain says.

Just listening to "No Remedy" helps support Savage Lands. 100% of the song's royalties fund the musician-run non-profit's preservation efforts in Costa Rica.

Donations can also be made at https://savagelands.org/donation/

Stop by the Savage Lands booth at Hellfest to learn more about the green zones, nature sanctuaries and other preservation projects that they're building in Costa Rica. Make a donation and receive the chance to win a one-of-a-kind guitar.

Artists occasionally support causes through donations to organizations. With SAVAGE LANDS, Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren teamed up with his guitar-wielding friend Sylvain Demercastel to create their own US 501(c)3 non-profit.

Savage Lands raises money for reforestation and the creation of sanctuaries free of human destruction in Costa Rica. Using their own royalties, donations and other fundraising efforts, the organization builds nature sanctuaries, establishes green zones and other land preservation projects. They partner with other non-profits, scientists and forest engineers, as well as Decibel Magazine and Season of Mist.

"If you want to make a difference, take action! Our greatest hope with Savage Lands is that it will inspire you to join us, and if you can, to start your own initiative to help preserve animals, forests, and our planet", says Dirk.

VOLA has since wrapped up two tours of the US with several venues upgraded due to overwhelming demand, as well as sold-out shows in New York, Chicago and the iconic Troubadour in Los Angeles, where the band struck up a friendship with In Flames' Anders Fridén - who features on the new album. Their first tour of Canada resulted in sold-out shows in Toronto and Montreal, and they rounded off the continent with triumphant South American shows in Mexico, Brazil, and a sold-out show in Chile.

The Danish-Swedish quartet - Asger Mygind (vocals/guitar), Martin Werner (keys), Nicolai Mogensen (bass), and Adam Janzi (drums) - are now, to set free their fourth studio album. Their strength has always been combining a multitude of ideas within a single song, packing it in with a grandiose power that can be as ferocious as it can be delicate.

Talking about their evolution, Janzi says, "We have had the time to internalise ‘Witness’ and let its aftermath sink in, which has shaped how we approached ‘Friend Of A Phantom’. Our personal tastes have changed, the way we approach our instruments and songwriting has changed, our lives have changed, time has passed, and adventures have been had. Whatever piece of melancholy that ‘Witness'had, has just grown and become a central part of this new album. I feel that VOLA has grown and reached a new moment in its life, maturing."

With the announcement of the new album, they have revealed the video for "Break My Lying Tongue". The song showcases VOLA's signature blend of introspective lyrics and intricate soundscapes, offering a deep dive into themes of misalignment and emotional vulnerability. With its haunting melodies and thought-provoking lyrics, it stands out as a powerful and evocative piece.

Last year they released the first taster of new material when they dropped "Paper Wolf". Talking about the song, Mygind offers, "We never put boundaries on our songwriting but merely search for a direction that feels unexplored and exciting to us. With 'Paper Wolf,' we suddenly found ourselves in a territory where an old-school metal atmosphere crept into our blend of sounds. We liked what we heard and then ran with it at full speed.

"Cannibal" kicks off ‘Friend of a Phantom’. Featuring In FlamesAnders Fridén on vocals, it plants a marker in the ground for what you're about to experience as the album navigates around the hypnotically ethereal "We Will Not Disband" through to "Hollow Kid", with MogensenFrankenstein riff,” as he explains, “I wanted to blend the essence of Metallica's "Enter Sandman" with the low tuning and polyrhythms of Meshuggah. The song's intro riff was the result, and it inspired the rest of the track."

VOLA has been one of Europe's most exciting metal bands in recent years, catapulting them onto the international stage. They've become a formidable live draw that has seen them also tour with Devin Townsend - including playing the Royal Albert Hall London; they've opened for Evanescence and played festivals such as ArcTanGent (UK), Graspop (Belgium), Tuska (Finland), Roskilde (Denmark), Copenhell (Denmark), CL Prog (Chile) and more.

Talking about the touring, Janzi opens up: "It is very tough with all the travelling, short nights, and intense work. But it is so rewarding! Playing music, meeting nice people from all over the world, and seeing these places. Culture is important!"

Known for their innovative approach to progressive metal, VOLA continues to captivate audiences with their blend of intense rhythmic complexity and poignant lyrical narratives. With this perpetual evolution, the pressure doesn't consume them. "There is always the pressure of continuing to climb the mountain," reflects Janzi. "Embracing change and whatever new chapters may wait around the corner is a way to make life more enjoyable."

VOLA Is:

Asger Mygind (vocals/guitar)

Martin Werner (keys)

Nicolai Mogensen (bass)

Adam Janzi (drums)

Polar Share New Video "Swimming With Sharks" — WATCH

POLAR have dropped the video for their latest single, "Swimming with Sharks."

Building on the success of the previously released "We Won't Sleep," which captivated audiences with its intense lyrics and pulsating rhythms, this new track dives even deeper into the themes of resistance and defiance.

Watch the video below.

The lyrical concept of "Swimming with Sharks" emerged from a profoundly challenging period for the band.

"The idea came to me early on after the band went through its lineup change," shares singer Adam Woodford. "It was a very low and weak moment for me and the band. Honestly, there was a shared view of hoping that the band wouldn’t survive, and continuation had left the band wide open to be torn apart. It was such a raw and deep feeling for me, and I wanted to convey this lyrically in a song. I used the imagery that the band was an injured person in the abyss of the ocean being pursued by sharks as they can smell my blood, waiting for their time to attack. The song has a feel of desperation and the determination to survive before you are swallowed whole."

In 2023, amidst significant lineup changes that led to the departure of several original members, founding vocalist Woodford took the reins. Determined to turn adversity into opportunity, Woodford revitalized Polar by bringing on new members Stefan Whiting (bass), Bruno Consani (guitar), Simon Richardson (guitar), and Max Flohr (drums). This fresh lineup has injected new energy and perspective into the band, further amplifying the defiant and transformative message of "Swimming with Sharks."

Since their formation in 2009, Polar have carved out a distinctive niche with their intense, chaotic sound and electrifying live performances. Over the past 15 years, they have established themselves as a powerful presence in the music scene. The rejuvenated lineup has not only taken center stage at the Resurrection Festival but has also completed tours across Europe and the UK. Together, they have produced Polar's forthcoming sixth studio album with Jack Murphy at Crystal Sound Studios, exploring the theme of change's destructive power. More info to come. With renewed positivity and unyielding determination, Polar show no signs of stopping.

"Swimming with Sharks" will be available here worldwide on all DSPs at midnight.

ANCIIENTS Shred Through "Cloak of the Vast and Black"

JUNO Award winners return with heavy and heartfelt Beyond the Reach of the Sun

"Big, melodic and fun" - New Noise
"A blend of soothing acoustic rock melodies and crushing heavy metal" - Guitar World

"It's exciting stuff, really - often complicated without seeming excessive, skillful but soulful, approachable but not pedestrian" - Pitchfork

"Heady stuff...arch-synthesists, cleverly appropriating a number of familiar, inter-related genres to fuse into a seamless ethos" - Metal Injection

"Proggy, sludgy and downright rocking" - Angry Metal Guy

"When the riffs rumble out of the speakers, you're moving" - No Clean Singing

"Combining powerful drumming with Thin Lizzy inspired riffs, while sounding like the musical equivalent of Game of Thrones" - Echoes and Dust

"Parts progressive finesse, classic rock grandstanding and grass-roots bludgeon" - PopMatters

The rock 'n' roll landscape is still shaking from the news: after eight years of searching, Anciients have emerged from the Canadian wilderness. The heady and hearty Canucks recently announced Beyond the Reach of the Sun, their first album since winning the coveted JUNO Award for Metal/Hard Rock.

Today, Kenny Cook, Mike Hannay and their new cast of shredders are releasing a smooth but still positively crushing guitar playthrough for their new album's second single. "Cloak of the Vast and Black" sheds light on the darkness that nearly overshadowed Beyond the Reach of the Sun by blazing a new trail with the same spirit that's made them a guiding light for progressive metal.

Watch the guitar playthrough for "Cloak of the Vast and Black" below.

Beyond the Reach of the Sun comes out August 30, 2024 on Season of Mist.

Ask any hard rock enthusiast about Anciients and their shock and awe might lead you to believe they were describing Big Foot. The band left a sizable imprint on the scene after just two albums, but then seemingly disappeared without a trace. So what led them to go into hibernation?

"Basically, right after Voice of the Void was recorded my wife had our first kid", says Kenny Cook, who on top of vocal and guitar duties also handles the bulk of the band's songwriting. "She ended up having heart complications and almost died". Everyone is happy and healthy now, but caring for his wife and new baby put a lot of stress on the typically laid-back frontman's mountainous shoulders. "It was a bit of a road".

"Cloak of the Vast and Black" also comes out of the shadows. The first single from Beyond the Reach of the Sun began by leading us through a field of bright keys and folksy acoustic plucks, but this time around, the guitars are so dimmed with reverb that even the leads twist and turn as if trying to navigate maze-like cave tunnels.

"This song is about mental illness and living under the cloak of depression", Cook says. But despite the many bumps in the road over the last eight years, like the high beams of a monster truck, Anciients found a way to come barreling out of the darkness. Just as the playthrough video bursts into full-blown color, the band strike upon a riff that burns as fast as a stick of dynamite.

"Searching for a new way of life", Cook growls with renewed force, as if awoken by the sudden explosion of psychedelic power chords.

The concept behind Beyond the Reach of the Sun does venture into heady territory. Society is enslaved by forces from another dimension who are so towering in their tyranny that they blot out the sun. Still, at its core, Anciient's third album is about perseverance. Cook's road is a little easier to envision. "Working on these songs helped clear the negativity that had clouded my thoughts", he says. But the albums' narrative arc winds up floating in the same enlightened headspace.

"Ancient knowledge buried deep in the sands of time", Cook sings, practically beaming as Dead Quiet axeman Brock MacInnes shreds a dizzying alternate guitar lead right beside him. "Awake on the other side".

Of course, headbanging helped, but Cook credits his bandmates for helping him see through Beyond the Reach of the Sun. Mike Hannay can still kick down the door to any metalhead's mind with a well-timed blast beat, but by the time "Cloak of the Vast and Black" finally tapers off, he's locked into such a massive flow state with new bassist Rory O'Brien, that Anciients sound like pre-historic giants who've returned to roam the earth.

"The hiatus is over" Cook says. "We missed out on a huge block after the last record. But with a new album to go along with our new band members, we're ready to hit it hard".

FEDERALE presents psych-rock gem 'Advice From a Stranger', previewing 20-year anniversary album 'Reverb & Seduction'. West Coast tour kicks off July 12

“Equal parts Ennio Morricone, Lee Hazelwood, and Nick Cave with a touch of Chris Isaak’s less romantic side… few if any artists are brave and/or creative enough to channel this ghostly, often ominous vibe into moving, sensual and stirring music” ~ American Songwriter

"Their most immersive and varied album to date, Collin Hegna and his merry band of music-makers take us on a fantastic journey... and on ‘Heaven Forgive Me’, Hegna channels the post-punk vibes of such bands as The Church, Pink Turns Blue and The Mission to our delight" ~ The Spill Magazine

Portland's iconic outfit Federale presents the single 'Advice From A Stranger', previewing their new 'Reverb & Seduction' album, set for release on July 12 via Jealous Butcher Records.

Their sixth studio album, this record marks the band’s twentieth anniversary.  Their most immersive and varied album to date, with do-it-all frontman Collin Hegna at the height of his powers, this is a tour-de-force road trip from psych rock to country duets, never straying too far from the spaghetti western roots that inspired the band many blood-moons ago.  These musical homages involve a new lineup of well-known Portland rock-scene vets, including talents from The Dandy Warhols, The Shivas, Roselit Bone, Rogue Wave and Delines.

On 'Advice From a Stranger', Federale leans into their psych-rock roots. As a 20+ year member of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Hegna has been party to a lot of feedback & fuzzed out guitars. And while the Pebbles and Nuggets oeuvre has crept into the works of Federale on occasion, it has always been as a background influence. But, for this song, the desire emerged to outwardly embrace the aesthetics of personal genre heroes: The Electric Prunes, The Pretty Things, and The Chocolate Watchband.

On this track, Hegna is joined by Jared Molyneux (The Shivas) on guitar, Pat Spurgeon (The Dandy Warhols, Rogue Wave) on drums, and Ryan Lynn (Mission Spotlight, The Needs and guitar tech for The Decemberists, Metric, and The Lumineers) on guitar.

Collin Hegna shares, “It's a mean world out there. If you don’t choose how you want to live your life, someone else is gonna do it for you. And you can bet they don’t have your best interests at heart. One has to be brave and do the hard things if one wants to accomplish anything worthwhile. And that can be hard when you're swimming against the tide. It's easy to get confused because there’s a lot out there trying to keep us all confused. To thine own fuzz pedal be true. Just a bit of advice from this stranger."

Since forming, Federale has carved out a unique niche within the indie music landscape, blending their signature spaghetti-Western instrumental sound with increasing doses of moody vocal arrangements in the spirit of Lee Hazlewood and late-period Leonard Cohen. Through it all, Hegna – as both songwriter and lead singer – maintains a strictly retro vibe. Federale's records have always sounded period-correct for an alternate-universe 1971, where rock and roll never caught on.

The ten tracks that make up 'Reverb & Seduction' were recorded at Revolver Studiosin Portland and engineered by Collin Hegna, Matt Thomson and Andrew Joslyn, who boasts five 5 Grammy Award winning albums. Mixed by Jeff Stuart Saltzman (The Black Keys, The High Violets), Matt Thomson and Collin Hegna, this album was mastered by Adam Gonsalves at Telegraph Mastering.

Earlier, Federale shared two singles - the lead track 'Heaven Forgive Me', featuring The Black Angels' Alex Maas, and 'No Strangers', a tribute to Lee Hazlewood, which involved drummer Dave Mudie, who plays drums for Courtney Barnett of The Dandy Warhols, Andrew Joslyn (Nancy Wilson, Kei$ha, Macklemore, Mark Lanegan), and Hunter Lea (Grammy nominated Nancy Sinatra / Lee Hazlewood reissue producer).

Ron Laboray of Little Richard’s Almanac, who animated the video for the new single, along with Niki Elliott, explains, "This song 'Advice From A Stranger' supplied us with a broader narrative, and we were able to let our imaginations run. We came to the idea of using Hieronymus Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights as a backdrop while brainstorming possibilities on a hike, as the painting connects well with the themes of god and forgiveness found in the song, and it’s weird as hell. The song's tempo had also led us to consider monster movie possibilities and, after deciding on the painting, the garden gnome emerged as a sort of Godzilla figure, the perfect hero to do battle in Bosch’s garden. 'Advice from a Stranger' is our favorite animation to date - 15th century and it still slaps!"

As of June 19, 'Advice From a Stranger' will be released everywhere digitally, including Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal and Band camp. The full 'Reverb & Seduction' album, out July 12, will be released on CD, vinyl and as a digital download, and should also be available from fine record dealers.

Federale's 'Reverb & Seduction' tour, which takes them up and down the U.S. West coast and beyond, kicks off in Portland on July 12 with their album release show. A European tour is anticipated in late fall 2024.

Michael Schenker Announces New Album "My Years With UFO" + Shares Single "Mother Mary" Featuring Slash + Erik Grönwall — LISTEN

MICHAEL SCHENKER TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM  MY YEARS WITH UFO CELEBRATING 50TH ANNIVERSARY ALONGSIDE TODAY'S ROCK ELITE

DROPS FIRST SINGLE "MOTHER MARY" FEATURING SLASH + ERIK GRÖNWALL

The world of rock guitar has always been illuminated by a few virtuosic stars who shine brighter than the rest, and among them, Michael Schenker stands out as a comet blazing across the night sky.

His tenure with the British hard rock band UFO during the 1970s remains one of the most celebrated periods in the annals of rock, elevating UFO from underground sensations to rock legends.

Now, in 2024, Michael Schenker is set to celebrate those glory days with his new album My Years with UFO alongside today's rock elite.

Produced by Michael Schenker and Michael Voss, the new album marks the 50th anniversary of Schenker's era with UFO, spanning from 1972 to 1978. The "German Wunderkind" was asked to join UFO at just 17 years old. Touring the globe as a teenager, Schenker became a driving force behind some of UFO's most loved tracks, such as "Doctor Doctor," "Rock Bottom," and "Only You Can Rock Me."

The first single off the new album, "Mother Mary," breathes new life into this classic, bringing together Michael Schenker's and Slash's unmatched guitar work with Erik Grönwall's soaring vocals.

Although Michael Schenker's era with UFO spanned only six years, his influence as a young songwriter and exceptional guitarist had already left a lasting mark on rock. During these meteoric years, the UFO albums Phenomenon, Force It, No Heavy Petting, Lights Out, Obsession, and the seminal live album Strangers in the Night were recorded, each contributing significantly to the genre. Strangers in the Night particularly stands out as one of the most influential live rock albums of all time and is still regarded as a cornerstone in any rock enthusiast's collection.

In this celebratory album, Michael Schenker presents 11 of UFO's greatest hits from this magical era with an impressive lineup of guest stars. Joining Schenker on this journey are Derek Sherinian on keys' Brian Tichy on drums' and Barry Sparks on bass.

The stellar roster of guest artists includes Axl Rose, Slash, Kai Hansen, Roger Glover, Joey Tempest, Biff Byford, Jeff Scott Soto, John Norum, Dee Snider, Joel Hoekstra, Joe Lynn Turner, Carmine Appice, Adrian Vandenberg, Michael Voss, Stephen Pearcy, and Erik Grönwall.

This album is the introduction to an upcoming trilogy, as Michael Schenker has signed an exclusive three-album deal with earMUSIC, with additional albums to follow in 2025 and 2026.

Today's release of "Mother Mary" sets the stage for what promises to be one of the most exciting rock albums of 2024.

My Years with UFO will be released worldwide on September 20 via earMUSIC and is svailable for pre-order here.

Industrial Metal Heretics KING SATAN Sign with Noble Demon and Unveil Video for First Single from Upcoming Album!

Finland's industrial metal heretics KING SATAN have officially inked a worldwide record deal with Noble Demon, who will release the band's highly anticipated fourth album, The Devil’s Evangelion, in late 2024. To kick off the excitement surrounding the upcoming release, the band has unleashed a music video for the first single, "New Aeon Gospel". Watch the video below.

Listen to the single HERE

”’The Devil’s Evangelion’ will be a concept album concentrating on the duality and the paradoxical nature of reality. This concept stems from a trickster-like narrative that becomes convinced about being possessed by the Devil, leading to an experience of reality through the Devil’s eyes." KING SATAN comment and further reveal details about the first single: "New Aeon Gospel as an opening song depicts beginning of this experience, which in the fashion of paradoxes, might be madness to one and yet moment of catharsis to another. We took a lot influences from old religious anthems, hymns and psalms to compose the album and this song might be one of the strongest examples of this, filtered of course through the means of our brand of extreme metal."

KING SATAN presents a genre-fluid extreme metal spectacle that fuses electro-industrial, symphonic black metal, and death metal elements with the raw energy of rock'n'roll, emerging as a unique blend between shameless shock rock and chaotic avant-garde theater.

Founded in late 2015, this genre-fluid group is the brainchild of enigmatic artist Mr. King Aleister Satan (Henget, Saturnian Mist), which has evolved from its electro-aggrotech origins into a full-throttle industrial metal band over the years. The act’s vision of extreme metal brings forth an anarchistic blend of carnivalesque artistry, absurdist dark comedy, occult intrigue, and in-depth philosophical ponderings, served in an intoxicating blend of rocking dance beats, thought-provoking lyrics, mesmerizing melodies, and addictive hooks the band themselves have titled as 'death metal disco’. A fusion fit for both dance floors and mosh pits. With all these elements, the band defies conventions and embraces controversy the way which should not really make much sense on paper - and yet, it has consistently helped to create more and more buzz for the band wherever they go.

But KING SATAN is more than just a mere musical entity; Known for their infectious charisma and captivating performances, it’s a live experience that electrifies stages and captivates audiences. With a reputation solidified by three full-length albums and viral chart-climbing singles in Finland and Germany, they’ve graced renowned festivals like Tuska Festival, Nummirock Metal Festival and Dark Malta Festival. The group has also toured in Europe in several countries, headlining their own shows and supporting revered acts like Gothminister, Deathstars, Battle Beast, Hocico, Nachtmahr, and Turmion Kätilöt on the way.

Mr. King Aleister Satan about the band's future and signing to Noble Demon:
"We are absolutely thrilled to announce this devilish pact between King Satan and Noble Demon Records! We really know we are now in the right home at Noble Demon roster as we are not only encouraged to do what we do already, but to do that with their full support! Even it might get dirty! And of course, in the world of absurd, it always does. So, indeed, let’s get dirty! The Devil’s work is never done! Hail Noble Demon Records and Hail Satan! Chaos is the Law!”

So stay tuned for more infos and tunes to follow in the weeks ahead and make sure to follow the band online!

Electronic-industrial pioneer MARK PISTEL (Consolidated, Meat Beat Manifesto) takes OCTAVIAN WINTERS for a wild spin of 'Velveteen'

"A dark and lush tapestry of near-classic post-punk, oscillating between shadow and shimmer. Reflecting the troubled times that we live in, sublime dark sonic delight" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Feels like it was recorded in a studio deep beneath the earth, drawing power from subterranean caves and bubbling magma... tectonic thunder... Such power, strong and true, a voice that scales the wall of sound beneath her with ease" ~ Joyzine

"A dark musical weave forged of post-punk and gothic strands. A sonic web of pulsing bass grooves and shaded ethereality, dark and delicious guitar slashes and haunting sound washes" ~ The Big Takeover

"Seriously compelling incitement, which Aursjoen’s tones and the electronically atmospheric mists around her only escalate"
~ Ringmaster Review

American electronic - EDM trailblazer Mark Pistel (Consolidated, Meat Beat Manifesto) recently joined San Francisco post-punk outfit Octavian Winters on their new release 'Nebula / Velveteen (Mark Pistel Remix)' (out now via Stratis Capta Records). Now they share the video for Pistel's remix of 'Velveteen', created by filmmaker David Kruschke,

A producer, engineer, programmer, remixer and songwriter active since the 80s, Mark Pistel founded the band Consolidated and has been with Meat Beat Manifesto since 1997. From his Room 5 studio, he has worked with The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, Grace Jones, Therapy?, MC 900 Foot Jesus, Machines of Loving Grace, Hector Zazou, Mark Stewart, Lee Scratch Perry, Cabaret Voltaire's Stephen Mallinder and Fishbone's Angelo Moore.

Formed in 2022, Octavian Winters is guitarist Stephan Salit (Thrill of The Pull), drummer Randy Gzebb (Thrill of The PullLove Club), bassist Jay Denton and Ria (Amenti) Aursjoen on vocals and keyboards. Together, they weave their visceral and ethereal sound into a texture all its own – of stories once told but half-remembered, under a dusk of shadows and stars, in an abandoned city under the winter moon.

Pistel explains, "Randy Gzebb called me about remixing one of the tracks off 'The Line or the Curve' EP. I was excited to do so, as we'd recorded some of these vocals at my Room 5 Studio in San Francisco. I chose to do 'Velveteen' as I already loved the track with its fantastic vocal melody and Stephan's unstoppable guitar hook! I  took on the track with pulsing analog synths and a slamming dance floor beat for the clubs."

The A-side to this 2-track release, called 'Nebula', underscores the inevitable impermanence of all that is seen and unseen, known and unknown.

"Nebula began as an experiment... I kept envisioning a sort of “last day at the end of the world” — what would the sky look like? Would we know and understand what was happening? There is this broadly Gnostic idea of the universe as unfolding and unfolding through what are called Aeons, essentially levels of manifestation, until we get this world we live in here. I imagined this world reaching the fullness of its life, that whole cycle ending — and then everything reversing, refolding back to the start to make way for the next universe," says Ria Aursjoen

This is not the first time Octavian Winters has worked with Pistel. Their debut EP 'The Line or Curve' (released in late 2023) was mostly recorded at his Room 5 Recording before being mixed and mastered it at 13 Studio in Chicago, and co-produced by the band and William Faith (The Bellwether Syndicate, Faith & the Muse, Christian Death).

But Octavian Winters' members have a rich history of collaborating and touring with notable artists, including Nine Inch Nails, Killing Joke, Lords of the New Church, Savage Republic, Christian Death, The Frozen Autumn, Everything Goes Cold and Black Tape for a Blue Girl.

The 'Nebula / Velveteen (Mark Pistel Remix)' single is available everywhere, including Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp. The band's next headlining concert is on Friday, July 26 at San Francisco's DNA Lounge with support from Halou and Sword Tongue.

Atlanta's boundary-pushing collective, The Callous Daoboys, released their live Audiotree session today. Recklessly free-spirited, the group revels in high-strung extremity, making music that's somehow dense, impenetrable, and chaotic, yet confusingly inviting. Their Audiotree Live session bursts with undeniable life-affirming glee from start to finish! During their interview with Audiotree Host, FINGY, the band chats about the making of their "The Elephant Man In The Room" music video, words of wisdom for their high school selves, and their plan for harnessing the power of the full moon.

Check out The Callous Daoboys on Audiotree Live below!

The Daoboys are Carson Pace (Vocals), Madeline Caffrey (Guitars), Daniel Hodsdon (Guitars), Jackie Buckalew (Bass), Amber Christman (Violins/Synths), and Matthew “Marty” Hague (Drums).

Their latest release, God Smiles Upon the Callous Daoboys, was named one of the Top 30 albums of 2023 by Revolver, while Brooklyn Vegan wrote, "Three-song EPs can sometimes seem like something minor on paper, but not many three-song EPs cover as much ground as God Smiles Upon The Callous Daoboys. “Pushing the Pink Envelope” goes from mathcore chaos to jazz fusion to deathcore breakdowns to industrial dancefloor jams to catchy emo-pop to hell and back… and that’s just the first song.”

OCEANHOARSE - Release Video for New Single "Logos"!

After recently introducing a new line-up and making a powerful comeback from a brief hiatus with the track "Killer & The Queen", Finnish heavy metal band OCEANHOARSE continues to forge ahead with the launch of their newest single, "Logos". The release is accompanied by an intense new video, which can be seen Below.

"This song is one big jin and jang. It starts with the most aggressive music we have made but changes into a mystical spring rain kinda vibe", OCEANHOARSE drummer Oskari Niemi states.

Bassist Silver Ots adds: "The RIFF catches you by the throat immediately and the song eases only in the middle section where it turns the jet engines off and goes gliding in the night sky. This is of course followed by an ass-ripping guitar solo and eventual crash-and-burn-heavy riff leaving no survivors."

"Logos" was mixed and mastered by Lauri Hämäläinen. Cover art by Ben Varon.
"Logos" is out now via Noble Demon.

Oceanhoarse are:
Ben Varon - Guitar
Silver Ots - Bass
Oskari Niemi - Drums
Joonas Kosonen - Vocals

Hot on the heels of their successful debut single "Digital Deity," emerging rock sensation Eyes Like Midnight announced the release of their second single, "Bad Love." Following the April 18th release of "Digital Deity" to streaming platforms globally, the track has been in full rotation on Sirius XM's Octane and has garnered significant airplay on FM radio. The track has also received notable placements on both the Decibeland New Rock Pandora playlists further cementing Eyes Like Midnight's place in the modern rock landscape.

"Bad Love" takes a different approach sonically, incorporating elements of synthwave and modern pop with a brutal metalcore breakdown. The track shows the diversity and range the band is capable of.

In addition, Eyes Like Midnight will take the stage at Rock Fest in Cadott, WI, on July 20th.

Welcome to the new world.

In this age of artificial intelligence, rapid change and dynamic evolution are inevitable.

Trends and bands come and go with the hyper-speed of information flow. After 10+ years and nearly 700 live shows all across America, the dissolution of vocalist/songwriter Robert Cosgrove’s band Sleep Signals in 2023 gave birth to something new and noteworthy - and in 2024, it emerged as a fully evolved idea.

EYES LIKE MIDNIGHT signifies the dawn of a new era, where his seemingly-limitless ability to create is no longer bound by the constraints of staying within formula. “Starting over has allowed me to be much more dynamic and to incorporate different sounds into the framework of my music”, explains Cosgrove.

Recording 15 new songs in three multi-week, intense sessions at producer Chris Dawson’s Aphiotic Studios in rural Kansas, Robert and his co-writers spent eight weeks writing and tracking the music that would ultimately encapsulate the beginning of EYES LIKE MIDNIGHT.

As the first phase of the band’s live WATCHES are confirmed, more new music and content will be unveiled. Even in the darkest of nights, there is always a glimmer of hope to be found. EYES LIKE MIDNIGHT are cutting through the darkness with a beacon of clarity.

Eyes Like Midnight Show Dates:

7.19.24 Davenport, IA @ The Village Theatre
7.20.24 Cadott, WI @ Rock Fest w/ Jelly Roll, Chevelle

Eyes Like Midnight:
Robert Cosgrove - Vocals
Tristin Paz - Bass

MORTIIS Announces BRIGHTER DEATH NOW as Direct Support for Upcoming Tour, Announces Additional Dates

Dungeon synth master MORTIIS is pleased to welcome BRIGHTER DEATH NOW as direct support for the upcoming North American "The Dungeons are Calling" headlining tour, who will be performing parts of his "Necrose Evangelicum" album from 1995 for this tour for the first time! The band will join from the tour kickoff through the Los Angeles stop on September 21. Local openers will also be added, which are handpicked by Mortiis himself!

In addition, a performance has been added to Albuquerque, NM to the previously announced routing and has updated venues in Los Angeles, CA and Houston, TX. The tour will be in celebration of MORTIIS' seminal 1993 album, 'Født Til Å Herske,' which played a significant role in popularizing the dungeon synth genre and was re-recorded in 2023. The new itinerary can be found below while tickets can be found HERE.

MORTIIS live soundscape will be accompanied with visuals created by renowned artist and illustrator David Thierree, known for his work with Mortiis, Behemoth, and others.

MORTIIS comments:

“The circle comes unbroken once more, as we’ve evoked the ghosts of 'Født Til Å Herske' and 'Necrose Evangelicum.' I’m beyond excited to have reconnected with Roger Karmanik, in this quest to reawaken our shared past of a quarter century ago. I have reinforced, and iron-clad the sound of 'Født Til Å Herske,' while the sound of Brighter Death Now´s 'Necrose Evangelicum' will send your soul screaming into oblivion.”

Roger Karmanik of BRIGHTER DEATH NOW adds:

“Life just turns in the most curious ways! Heading off on a US-tour with my old friend Håvard is one of these. Releasing 3 of his early albums on my label Cold Meat Industry in the 90’s as well as having Mortiis as cooperation on the Brighter Death Now album 'Necrose Evangelicum' leaves no better option than to reinvent this for me groundbreaking album and to perform it live for the first time ever. Death Industrial meets Dark Dungeon! Free your soul, let the body burn!”

Previously announced support for the tour includes Sombre Arcane (September 4-17), Malfet (September 14 - 28), and appearances by Fogweaver in Denver, CO and Albuquerque, NM.

Milwaukee Metal Festival 2024 conquered The Rave/Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee, WI last month with so many epic performances and surprises! Festivities kicked off with the pre-party on Thursday, May 16, with a headlining set from JASTA and Friends, in which Jamey Jasta joined forces with Bobby Blitz, Zetro, Bobby Hambel, Danny Diablo, and Hoya Roc, in which they rocked the house with original songs and fan favorites!

The three day festival kicked off on Friday afternoon, with fans lined up around the block to catch the openers, packing out the room from wall to wall for the first Century Media set of the day by USBM masters UADA. As No Echo writes, "the precision they brought to the stage showcased how a band listed as an 'opener' can perform like they are the only band on the lineup." The day was jammed with a mix of black metal, death metal, thrash, and of course, an epic block of power metal to close the evening from Hammerfall, Symphony X, Doro, Kamelot, and the weekend's first headliner, Blind Guardian.

Saturday also started with a bang, with newcomers Morbikon setting the tone for the day with their rip roaring energy and blackened speed while Long Island hardcore horde Internal Bleeding got interactive with the crowd, leaving the stage behind as they took the floor alongside the audience for their brutalizing showcase. Meanwhile, the crowd surfers never stopped and trash cans were affectionately thrown around during Municipal Waste's now legendary performance, only rivaled by the Dunable Guitars/MartyrStore.net headliners, Belushi Speed Ball, whose set was described by Metal Insider as "an all-out (NERF) war in the bar, with people throwing trash cans, toilet paper, and assorted other objects around in a moshpit that filled most of the space."

Of course, highlights also include The Red Chord's flawless performance, the long-awaited reunion of Soilent Green, epic album plays by Death to All and Terrorizer, and of course, co-organizer Jamey Jasta's own Hatebreed who really delivered the PMA. Katatonia adapted to a new guitarist as one of their own had travel issues, but the fans were still moved nevertheless by their somber and beautiful music while Mr. Bungle closed out the night with their legendary lineup and a mix of originals and covers.

Despite the relentless energy exerted from the fans over the first few days, they did not at all slow down by the final day. With hangovers and bangovers, festival goers once again arrived bright and early for Sunday's openers, with death metal newcomers Stabbing and Milwaukee mainstays Casket Robbery stealing the early show with their blistering brutality. Death to All returned for a second album play, this time to a larger room, setting the tone for an epic second half of the final day with stunners like Gatecreeper, I Am Morbid, Lacuna Coil, Avatar, Skeletal Remains, In Flames, and Slaughter to Prevail made sure the festival ended with a bang!

As Knotfest eloquently stated on the festival's conclusion, "Framing the scope of the festival - with a reverence for the classics while still nurturing the contemporary - the final day of Milwaukee Metal Fest perfectly summarized the bigger picture in resurrecting the festival brand. Combining the classic with contemporary, year two further asserted the importance of the fest and properly set the stage for the next edition in 2025."

EXTINCTION A.D. Drop New Single Feat. Matthew Kiichi Heafy; Announce New Album

Extinction A.D., the relentless purveyors of ferocious hardcore tinged thrash metal, have announced today that they will unleash their fourth studio album titled ‘To The Detested,’ on August 16th via Unique Leader Records. Alongside today’s announcement comes the debut of their latest single and accompanying music video, "Impervious (Unrepentant)," featuring guest vocals by Matthew Kiichi Heafy of Trivium. Stream the new track HERE and watch the accompanying video Below.

The new single showcases Extinction A.D.'s dynamic approach to writing furious, incendiary heavy metal bangers and gives and exciting sneak-peek into what’s to come from the band’s upcoming fourth album, a tour de force of unbridled aggression that embodies Extinction A.D.'s evolution and unwavering commitment to their craft. Speaking on today’s announcement, the band share

"‘Impervious’ is another exercise for us in stretching ourselves. Embracing some different tempos, instrumentation and inclusion of guest vocals with Matt Heafy. Working with Matt for the track as well as the video was very gratifying and lot of fun. He’s been a big supporter of the band since the jump so it was rad to get together for some music after all this time.”

“Time moves on but things sometimes seem to sink further and further into a festering pit in this world. Humans are steadily losing their humanity in the current state of things, so finding a way to survive without becoming a monster yourself is becoming increasingly difficult.”

Keep 'em peeled for more from Extinction A.D. coming soon.

ABOUT EXTINCTION A.D.

Extinction A.D. is not for the faint of heart and the intensity of these New Yorkers has yet to be tempered. The bands signature level of ferocity has reached new levels on their fourth album ‘To The Detested’, which follows their EP ‘Ruthless Intent’ from earlier this year.

So many different worlds shaped this band; from writers like Alan Moore and George Orwell; lyricists like Wreak Havoc and Chuck D; to directors like Tarantino and John Carpenter. But musically, Extinction A.D. hook up a tube of early 90s era of metal into their veins. Not just bands like Pantera and Machine Head, but the often overlooked 90s offerings from Testament, Sepultura and Slayer.

Thrashing just as hard as their predecessors, the band also break their surroundings down and deliver some heavy as hell riotous mosh; hitting that all-important sweet spot mixture of 80s thrash, 90s extreme metal and New York hardcore, all encompassed into one.

Never afraid to speak their minds amidst a divisive world, Extinction A.D. bring a decisive power to match their frenetic energy. The endgame is not just rebellion but revolution.
