Pop Evil Release Raw and Emotionally Charged EP "Unleaded"

In a bold departure from their signature sound, Pop Evil unveil a powerful new chapter with the release of their live acoustic EP, Unleaded, a raw and emotionally charged recording captured in the heart of New York City.

Hosted by SiriusXM Octane and set within the edgy, denim-clad atmosphere of the Cult of Individuality showroom, this release strips away the band’s thunderous riffs and high-octane energy, laying bare the soul of their songwriting in an intimate and electrifying performance.

Known for their explosive live shows and heavy rock anthems, Pop Evil have long been a staple of the hard rock scene. But Unleaded reveals a different side of the Michigan-bred outfit—one that trades distortion and fury for shadow and nuance. The setting was intentionally unconventional. Surrounded by Cult of Individuality’s gritty fashion aesthetic and a crowd of superfans, the band leaned into vulnerability and artistry, proving that their songs are just as powerful—if not more so—when stripped to their emotional core.

The EP features raw, acoustic renditions of fan favorites and a surprise cover of Simple Mind classic '80s hit "Don't You (Forget About Me)," reimagined through a minimalist lens. Frontman Leigh Kakaty's vocals take center stage, enriched by the absence of walls of sound, revealing new shades of melody and lyrical depth. Songs like "What Remains" and "Paranoid (Crash & Burn)" gain new emotional resonance, delivered with haunting clarity and personal intensity. Backed by acoustic guitar, delicate percussion, and harmonized vocals, the stripped arrangements emphasize storytelling over spectacle.

"This was a chance to show our fans who we are underneath it all," Kakaty shared during the Octane broadcast. "No lights, no walls of sound—just the songs and the emotion that built them."

Unleaded serves as a reminder that even the heaviest rock bands have roots in melody and meaning. It's a testament to Pop Evil’s versatility and their willingness to challenge themselves creatively. By peeling back the layers, this EP offers an unforgettable glimpse into the soul of Pop Evil — raw, unfiltered, and undeniably powerful.

Pop Evil are wrapping up the last few dates of their current headline tour. All remaining dates are below. The band is playing festivals and fairs this summer. Expect more touring later in 2025.

Thrash Metal Supergroup NEFARIOUS - Featuring Katon De Pena, Rick Hunolt, Doug Piercy, Tom Gears and Will "Beastman" Carroll - Release New Single "Master Plan" + Music Video

Today, the new thrash metal supergroup NEFARIOUS — featuring Katon De Pena, Rick Hunolt, Doug Piercy, Tom Gears, and Will "Beastman" Carroll — is excited to release their new single, "Master Plan." This is the second track from their upcoming debut album, 'Addicted To Power,' out July 18, 2025. "Master Plan" is accompanied by a music video, available below.

With razor-sharp riffs, venomous vocals, and a relentless pace, "Master Plan" delivers a blistering attack on corruption and control. The accompanying video is a chaotic visual assault that mirrors the intensity of the track—raw, aggressive, and unapologetically thrash.

Vocalist Katon De Pena comments:

"Sonic sensory overload of epic proportions, HEAVY enough to CRUSH A TANK. Execution Of The Plan - The 'Master Plan'..!!!"

Drummer Will Carroll adds:

"A song with as much groove as heaviness. With the rhythm section locking in, the guitars are free to rip as they do. All while a commanding vocal presence is laid on top."

Watch the Music Video for "Master Plan" below:

NEFARIOUS recently announced the release of their debut album 'Addicted To Power' due out July 18th via Relentless "Metal" Records with a Collector Vinyl available through Hectic/Bleeding Priest Records.

Doug Piercy exclaims:

"Let’s get ready to rage!

"We are really stoked to finally be able to release this stuff and discuss it. It’s been under wraps for a while. More insane videos and shows are coming soon! We hope everybody enjoys this release as much as we had fun creating it, for you all!

"Cheers!"

Pre-Order 'Addicted To Power' HERE

Together, NEFARIOUS crafts a sound that is both fierce and refined — a perfect balance of aggression and musicianship that speaks to the true spirit of heavy metal.

With their explosive live performances and immersive new material on the horizon, metal fans worldwide should prepare for an unstoppable force.

This is unpretentious thrash metal.

This is NEFARIOUS!

NEFARIOUS will be playing a hometown album release show on

July 19th at DNA Lounge in San Francisco!

About NEFARIOUS:

From the heart of San Francisco’s legendary metal scene rises NEFARIOUS—a supergroup forged in the fires of thrash, ready to carve a new chapter in heavy metal history.

At the helm is Katon W. De Pena, the iconic voice of Hirax, whose searing intensity and magnetic stage presence have long commanded crowds. On guitars, the twin-axe assault is nothing short of historic: Rick Hunolt (Diehumane, formerly Exodus) and Doug Piercy(Heathen, Anvil Chorus, Blind Illusion) deliver a relentless barrage of razor-sharp riffs and molten solos—honoring the legacy of thrash while pushing its boundaries into new territory.

Holding down the low end with massive groove and crushing weight is Tom Gears (Blind Illusion, Ancient Mariner), providing the sonic anchor on bass for the band’s explosive sound. Behind the kit, Will "Beastman" Carroll (Death Angel) unleashes a thunderous, precision-driven assault that hits with surgical brutality.

About NEFARIOUS, Rick Hunolt comments:

"I'm so honored to be with this amazing group of dudes about to release some old-school thrash on you mofos, it's long overdue and I'm confident you guys will love it as much as we do you our metal brothers and sisters deserve it, see you on the road, let's fuckin go!!!"

Katon De Pena adds:

"We're not a band. We are a Gang ready to Crush Skulls and Make Eardrums Bleed ... Necks will be sore ...!!"

NEFARIOUS are:

Katon W. De Pena - Vocals

Rick Hunolt - Guitar

Morgan Wallen Celebrates U.K. No. 1 Album w/ Intimate London Set

Performing to just 2,000 fans in an intimate set with tickets claimed in less than a minute upon entry, Morgan Wallen’s I’m The Problem album release show at The Roundhouse in London on May 28 rounded out a historic week that saw Wallen attain his first U.K. No. 1 debut on the Official Charts.

Playing center-stage in a stripped-back set with his guitar – which Holler remarked as "spellbinding," while Entertainment Focus opined the superstar is “at the top of his game” – Wallen’s 19-song setlist included 12 songs hailing from I’m The Problem, kicking off with the title track, which recently became his 18th No. 1 at Country radio. From there, Wallen delved into live debuts of story song “20 Cigarettes,” the Billboard-dubbed “confessional” “Eyes Are Closed” and his reigning Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, “What I Want.”

Performing an early release from the album, “Superman,” Wallen shared the heartfelt story behind the song he penned for his son: “I’ve been trying pretty much ever since he was born to write a song that was good enough to dedicate to him. I probably wrote 30 songs that weren’t good enough, so we scratched them. Right before we were getting ready to turn in this record, we started writing this song. Usually once we write a song, I’ll get Charlie to send me the demo so I can listen to it on my way home. He sent this to me…The very first time I heard it back after writing it, I just broke down and was crying. And that’s the first time I had done that writing a song for my little boy. I figured if it touched me that way, hopefully it would touch a lot of you guys the same way.”

Sprinkled throughout the set were multi-platinum hits from his previous two albums, Dangerous: The Double Album and One Thing At A Time, including Platinum-certified “Cowgirls;” 2x-Platinum “Sand In My Boots,” 4x-Platinum “Cover Me Up;” 6x-Platinum “More Than My Hometown;” and 9x-Platinum “Whiskey Glasses.” Wallen concluded the night with his 7x-Platinum, 16 week Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, “Last Night.”

Taking in the magnitude of his growing international fanbase, Wallen thanked his fans, stating “We've been trying to make a connection with you guys, and this is by no means a measure of all successes, but I think it says a lot; whenever I dropped One Thing At A Time, it debuted at No. 40 over here. I just dropped I'm the Problem, and thanks to you guys, it debuted at No. 1. I really appreciate every single one of y'all. I thank you for making me feel welcome in your country, and for having the same kind of love for country music and just music in general. It means a lot to me to be able to say what I just said.”

I’m The Problem debuted last week at No. 1 across seven countries. In the U.S., Wallen broke his own record for most simultaneous entries in Billboard Hot 100 history, with 37 songs charting at once. He also currently occupies the No. 1, 2 and 3 slots simultaneously with his duet with Tate McRae “What I Want,” “Just In Case,” and the title track “I’m The Problem,” respectively – becoming the first country artist ever to do so.

Wallen’s coinciding 2025 I’m The Problem Tour kicks off June 20 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The 20-show run will include stops in Seattle, Washington; Foxborough, Massachusetts; Toronto, Ontario and more. With a second stop added in Madison, Wisconsin, Wallen’s appearances will mark the first time an artist has played two consecutive nights at Camp Randall Stadium.

A rotating lineup of guests including Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett and Koe Wetzel join in direct support with Gavin Adcock, Corey Kent, Ella Langley and Anne Wilson as first-of-three across select dates. Coupled with May’s Sand In My Boots Festival and a special one-night-only album release celebration show at Roundhouse in London in May, these 22 shows are the only place to see the superstar in 2025.

About Morgan Wallen:
Morgan Wallen sets the pace in, and beyond, country music – with Billboard calling him “the biggest country star in the world” and The New York Times doubling down, declaring he’s “one of the biggest stars in pop, period.” With 18 No. 1 singles at Country radio, 19 Billboard Music Awards to-date, more than 170 weeks spent atop Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart (the most in country music history), the highest selling country tour under his belt and more, Wallen has propelled country music to a global level in less than five years. As Las Vegas Review Journal puts it: “Wallen’s appeal is remarkable as it is fueled by his ability to connect to a crowd.”

With Dangerous: The Double Album, Wallen solidified his place as country music’s “dominant superstar,” with the project recently being named Billboard’s No. 1 Album of the 21st Century. One Thing At A Time’s groundbreaking success saw Wallen’s crossover appeal reach a global scale, as he topped the Australian ARIA charts for the first time, along with a host of other accolades. With three No. 1’s already hailing from his fourth studio album, I’m The Problem, available now via Big Loud / Mercury, Wallen digs even deeper, uncovering a side that’s both more vulnerable and more resolute than ever before.

As Wallen prepares a refreshed setlist for his 20-stadium-show I’m the Problem Tour, kicking off on June 20 in Houston, Texas, he also highlighted some of his favorite artists by bringing the personally-curated, multi-genre Sand In My Boots Music Festival to Gulf Shores, Alabama in May.

Wallen continues to donate a portion of every ticket sold to his Morgan Wallen Foundation — which supports youth music and athletic programs and gives communities access to essentials in times of crisis. More at MorganWallen.com.

The Young Fables release live video of “FIGHTER” from the record release show in Nashville

We filmed it with five cameras and grabbed audio straight from the board, so it looks and sounds legit. Huge shoutout to the amazing crew who made this all happen.

If you were there, you’ll probably spot yourself singing along (or at least nodding enthusiastically). If you weren’t, no worries.
This is your chance to catch the vibe from your couch.

Thanks for being part of our story,

Pagan Folk Band FAUN Releases New Single "Lament" + Music Video

The Pagan folk band FAUN is excited to release their new single, "Lament," a track that delves into darker emotional territory. With "Lament," FAUN taps into the mournful power of myth, ritual, and grief, reimagining an old pre-Christian mourning song from northern England. The single is accompanied by a new music video, available below.

The band has extended the original song with additional verses, transforming it into an epic and emotional dirge enriched with choirs, drums, and traditional instruments.

On the new single, FAUN comments:

"With a choir of four singers from FAUN, a hurdy-gurdy, flute, key fiddle and lure (Celtic long trumpet), we dedicated this song to our friend and sound engineer, Jürgen Schneider, who tragically passed away in 2023, after more than 10 years of traveling and concerts together."

Gridiron Release "Poetry From Pain"

Gridiron will bring Poetry From Pain to fans and venues all summer long. All upcoming confirmed dates, including Summer Slaughter, are below.

Gridiron, which originally formed as a pandemic project and have since grown into a full-fledged entity, features members of Never Ending Game, Simulakra, and Scarab, and connects the Philadelphia, Delaware, and Michigan areas.

Pushing every boundary to a breaking point, Gridiron will go to any extreme and then some. They follow quite possibly the most unpredictable playbook in the game. The band might flood the zone with a corpsepaint-smearing death metal barrage only to double back around for a victory lap narrated by blinged-out and braggadocios bars. Their hybridization of metal, hardcore, and hip-hop wouldn’t be out of place at either OZZfest 1997 or Rolling Loud 2027.

It's why the quintet have bulldozed their own path as a phenomenon with millions of streams and acclaim from Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, NO ECHO, and more.

Gridiron were born out of a series of COVID-era marathon Call of Duty sessions, which led to writing and recording together. Their musical pedigree spoke for itself with Will also in Never Ending Game, Xavier in Simulakra, and Tyler and Lennon in Scarab. Given their individual experiences, the guys instantly locked into a creative groove. Following the Loyalty At All Costs EP [2020] and Worldwide Brotherhood EP [2021], they dropped their first full-length, No Good At Goodbyes [2022]. Along the way, they also shared stages with everyone from Missing Link to Trapped Under Ice and have plenty of upcoming touring planned for 2025.

And now, Poetry From Pain is here and it slays.

“Poetry from pain is about team work, brotherhood, never settling for less than your best, always raising the bar, and finding ways to express what you’re feeling inside.”

GRIDIRON — Matthew Karll, vocals; Will Kaelin, guitar and vocals; Xavier Wilson, guitar; Lennon Livesay, bass; and Tyler Mullen, drums — are proud to release their new album Poetry From Pain today, May 30, via Blue Grape Music. Get it here

Stereogum fave for their "incendiary mosh riffs, the band has shared a dope, football-themed visualizer for the title track. Get off the bench and watch and listen here.

Groove? Check. Bounce? Check. Swagger? Check. Mosh? Check. Gridiron tick off ALL the boxes.

"Poetry From Pain is about teamwork, brotherhood, never settling for less than your best, always raising the bar, and finding ways to express what you're feeling inside," states Karll.

DUSTIN LYNCH DROPS CHILL SUMMER JAM "EASY TO LOVE"

Dustin Lynch ain’t “Easy To Love.” Flipping the title of his brand-new single in an unexpected way, the MULTI-PLATINUM star is the first to admit he’s stubborn, restless, and tough to pin down when it comes to matters of the heart. Listen to the chill summer jam here.

Written by Lynch with Ben Johnson, Jon Robert Hall, Hunter Phelps, and Zach Crowell, the autobiographical narrative speaks to Lynch’s life on the run as he confesses that he’s always been good at going alone – but is still looking for more: “I’m still thinkin’ maybe one day I’ll find her / They always say when you know, you know / If I know me, she’ll be my next right turn / But I’ll take a left just to see where it goes.”

Equal parts vulnerable and vibey, easygoing production by Crowell wraps warm guitars and sunlit grooves around Lynch’s self-aware lyrics and no worries charm. “Easy To Love” marks the anticipated follow-up to Lynch’s 10th #1 “Chevrolet (feat. Jelly Roll).”

The adjoining music video further speaks to the track’s blue-skied optimism as a visual love letter to Key West. Filmed under director Jack Owens, the Florida footage captures Lynch ready for every opportunity that comes his way.

Throwing his see-and-be-seen pool parties for the last decade, he will next host DUSTIN LYNCH POOL SITUATION: NASHVILLE 2025, presented by Hey Dude. Returning for the third year at the rooftop pool of Margaritaville Hotel Nashville, the 18+ event is set for June 6 during CMA Fest weekend. Admittance is FREE on a first-come, first-served basis – but Lynch’s Stay Country Club members will get exclusive early access. Fans can join the Stay Country Club now.

Keeping the party going on June 7, Lynch will offer Nashville a taste of his Club Set – from his 2025 WYNN NIGHTLIFE LAS VEGAS RESIDENCY – when he hosts the DUSTIN LYNCH NIGHTLIFE PARTY at Barstool Nashville. Admittance for the 21+ event is FREE on a first-come, first-served basis. For a VIP table, text 615.606.2889.

Marking Wynn Nightlife’s first-ever country music artist residency in Las Vegas, Lynch’s 2025 WYNN NIGHTLIFE LAS VEGAS RESIDENCY boasts a live performance Daytime Pool Situation at Encore Beach Club and a Club Setat XS Nightclub through August. With a July 4 appearance on deck, find full details to all upcoming Lynch shows (including his co-headlining TWO FOR THE ROAD TOUR with Scotty McCreery) here.

Beloved by tastemakers and the underground alike, the London-based metal trio URNE has today released a nine-minute-plus undulating epic, “Harken The Waves,” featuring guest vocals from Mastodon’s Troy Sanders. On the track, Sanders and URNE frontman Joe Nally’s voices blend into a powerful duet that crests and crashes like the song itself. The new single comes alongside a music video, available to view below.

Frontman Joe Nally comments on the new single:

“We feel this is one of the best songs we’ve ever written. On top of that, we were lucky enough to have Grammy-winning metal icon Troy Sanders, from the legendary Mastodon, lend his vocal talents. We’ve grown up listening to Troy and watching Troy live, so having someone like him not only appear, but take on such a significant role in the song, elevating it to another level, means a lot.”

“Harken The Waves” follows URNE’s recently released double A-side: "Throes Of Grief"plus a spectacular cover of Black Sabbath’s “I.”

Larry Fleet Releases the Groove-Filled "Like You Used To"

Country hitmaker Larry Fleet is back with a brand-new single and even more chances for fans to catch him live. The blues-tinged “Like You Used To” finds Fleet searching for answers on a fading love that once burned with passion. Listen Below.

Co-written by Fleet with Jamie Moore and Ernest K., the mid-tempo groove leans into warm country soul as Fleet reflects on the little things that once made love feel electric – and how to bring that spark back.

“We’ve all been in that relationship where the fire cools off a bit, and you start looking back, wondering where the spark went,” said Fleet. “That’s what ‘Like You Used To’ is about – but it’s got a groove, and I think a lot of folks will connect with this.”

“Like You Used To” follows Fleet’s “Hard Work & Holy Water” and his recent release “A Lotta Women,” a heartfelt tribute to the kind of steady love that holds it all together – both of which showcase the blue-collar ethos and emotional honesty that define his sound.

And fans will have even more chances to hear these tracks live, as Fleet expands his Hard Work & Holy Water Tour with 25 new U.S. dates running through the end of 2025.

Fleet will first take his soulful mix of country, R&B and Southern rock overseas, kicking off the international leg of the tour in Glasgow, Scotland on August 20, followed by shows across the U.K., Belgium and the Netherlands.

Returning stateside, Fleet heads right to the heartland on September 11 in Shipshewana, Indiana, launching a coast-to-coast trek from Georgia to California, with dates extending through December 12 in Las Vegas. On most nights, fans will enjoy a double shot of Fleet – opening with an acoustic set before returning with his full band for the main show. Rising duo The Kruse Brothers will join select West Coast dates.

Fleet’s recent run of sold-out shows and expanding global footprint underscores a breakout chapter in the making. As Billboard praises, he’s an artist who “delves into blues, rock and retro-country with ease,” and with every new release, he proves there’s no substitute for the real thing.

About Larry Fleet:
Tennessee-born troubadour Larry Fleet grew up on a stack of records spanning Merle Haggard, Otis Redding, Willie Nelson and Marvin Gaye. A thoughtful songwriter with a knack for a one-liner, an ear for a sturdy hook, and a powerhouse voice that strikes like a match, Fleet was working blue-collar jobs to make ends meet long before landing his recording contract with Big Loud Records. Seven years later and again working as an independent artist, the devout family man is turning heads among fans and critics as a songwriter (“Man Made A Bar” recorded by Morgan Wallen featuring Eric Church) alongside his own music, 2021’s tribute to the music that raised him, Stack of Records, his aptly titled 2019 debut, Workin’ Hard, 2023's Earned It, featuring the single “Things I Take For Granted,” and his first latest, 2025’s independently-released “A Lotta Women.” Saving Country Music puts it simply: “If you're looking for the future of traditional country music, then look no further.”

Kenny Chesney Delivers Blazing Show & Megan Moroney 4 Song Surprise

When Kenny Chesney, recently named Billboard’s No. 1 Country Artist of the 21st Century, pledged that his first ever residency would have surprises, moments no one saw coming and a whole lotta love, he wasn’t kidding. Having kicked off his first set of dates with duet partners and shared award-winners Kelsea Ballerini and Grace Potter, the East Tennessee songwriter/superstar kept the female energy high by welcoming good friend and Sun Goes Down Tour mate Megan Moroney to Sphere Vegas for a high chemistry, big love collaboration.

Beyond debuting Moroney’s postcards from No Shoes Nation “You Had To Be There,” which captures her journey from cheap seats to stadium opener, Moroney played her Top 5 smash “Am I Okay?,” which she performed with Chesney’s blazing hot band at Gillette Stadium. The pair reprised their romping “All The Pretty Girls,” plus Moroney’s return-to-the-set-list fave “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy.”

“No one has more fun onstage than Megan Moroney,” Chesney enthused after the pair’s high velocity duets. “She doesn’t just radiate joy up there, she makes everybody want to experience the amount of fun she is clearly having. Even I want to – and don’t always – maintain that level of feeling good. She just brings it.”

Pro Football Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith and uber-manager Shep Gordon (Alice Cooper, Teddy Pendergrass, Ann Murray) were spotted in a decidedly animated crowd. As Chesney noted after the show, “For a Wednesday night crowd, it sure felt like Saturday night! Maybe it was Megan… Maybe we’re really getting the hang of Sphere… Or else it was just meant to be… No matter why, it was an incredible night in No Shoes Nation.”

With USA Today headlining their rave review, “Kenny Chesney delivers vibrant, visually arresting feast at Sphere Las Vegas,” they deemed the show “a technicolor wonder” and wrote, “It’s as much a concert as a sonic and visual roller-coaster ride pairing one of the most acclaimed stars of country with the evolving technological wizardry of the Sphere.” With ABC News calling this 15-show residency, “historic” and Parade opining, “Country legend leaves fans speechless during ‘absolutely unreal’ show,” Chesney is creating a show that expands what country music can contain – and delivers on all the songs that contain people’s lives.

The only country artist to be in Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Last 25 Years for the last 15 years, Chesney joins a select group of icons and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees U2, (Grateful) Dead & Company and the Eagles, plus Phish, to play the 17,600-seat spherical venue that deploys next-generation technologies to create an absolutely immersive experience.

“I knew this was going to be incredible when I said, ‘Yes,’ when they asked me to do this, but I had no idea how awesome the experience could actually be. More than all the visuals, the dialed in sound, though, it’s getting to share this stage with a lot of people I love, including everyone in No Shoes Nation, who came to Vegas to be part of this unbelievable moment.”

Limited tickets remain for the Sphere residency at KennyChesney.com with packages available via Vibee, the official VIP Concert & Hotel Package partner for Kenny Chesney’s Live at Sphere residency, at KennyChesney.Vibee.com. All Vibee packages offer guests a choice of premium tickets including Sandbar (general admission floor) or reserved seating, a collectable laminate and lanyard, access to the No Shoes Island VIP Pool Party, exclusive Kenny Chesney curated gift bag and early access to the Guitars, Tiki Bars and a Whole Lotta Love experience on show days for crowd-free shopping on exclusive merch items, and access to a dedicated shopping lane during public hours. Vibee Hotel Packages include a two-night stay at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas (The Venetian or The Palazzo) or Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

OBSIDIAN TONGUE Streams New Album 'Eclipsing Worlds of Scorn' Ahead of Release

Progressive black metal duo OBSIDIAN TONGUE is now streaming their latest full-length, 'Eclipsing Worlds of Scorn,' in its entirety ahead of tomorrow's release! The album can be heard below.

'Eclipsing Worlds of Scorn' is due tomorrow, May 30, via Profound Lore Records and be ordered HERE.

In addition, OBSIDIAN TONGUE has recently announced FRAILTY & SCORN, eight performances of black metal intensity this June alongside WOE. The trek will kick off on June 6 in Long Island City, NY and will make its way throughout the East Coast until the final stop on June 13 in Providence, RI. The tour will not only celebrate the release of OBSIDIAN TONGUE's upcoming studio album, but also will bring both bands back to many cities they have not visited in nearly a decade. Show pre-orders will begin soon as well as local support announcements. The full itinerary can be found below!

Comprised of multi-instrumentalist Brendan Hayter (Thrawsunblat/Obsequiae live) and drummer Raymond Capizzo (Falls Of Rauros/Panopticon live), OBSIDIAN TONGUE returned to the all-analog Mystic Valley Studio, where their first two records were made, to print their Covid-era home sessions onto two-inch tape. Mixed and mastered in the analog domain as well by Alex Garcia-Rivera, 'Eclipsing Worlds of Scorn' boasts a unique and unmistakable sonic force amidst the modern digital landscape; created with a total absence of click tracks, quantization, or sound replacement of any kind.

OBSIDIAN TONGUE Tour Dates (Co-headlining w/ WOE):

06/06: Long Island City, NY @ El Bunker del Diablo

06/07: Milton, DE @ Brimming Horn Meadery // Party Like It's 793 Fest

06/08: Baltimore, MD @ The Depot

06/09: Richmond, VA @ Cobra Cabana

06/13: Providence, RI @ Fete Music Hall

In the summer of 2024, Obsidian Tongue, comprised of vocalist/guitarist/bassist Brendan Hayter (Thrawsunblat/Obsequiae live) and drummer Raymond Capizzo (Falls Of Rauros/Panopticon live) returned to the all-analog Mystic Valley Studio, where their first two records were made, to print their Covid-era home sessions onto two-inch tape.

The progressive black metal journey that is 'Eclipsing Worlds of Scorn' takes off immediately with the wrathful sounds of “Orphaned Spiritual Warrior” and “Snakeskin Tunnel Colony,” easily the band’s two heaviest tracks to date. These flow directly into the apocalyptic title track, and onto the vulnerable and surreal sounds of “To Forgive Oneself” leading into the acoustic instrumental “…And Still They Dream.” This dream ends with the triumphant “Theater of Smoke & Wind,” a true psychedelic black metal classic that still evokes some of the original feeling found on the band’s 'Subradiant Architecture' debut.

Sixteen years into the band’s existence, Obsidian Tongue clearly show no signs of running out of new ways to alter their sound - song by song, album by album.

Jamey Johnson’s 2025 'The Last Honky Tonk Tour'

Award-winning country singer/songwriter Jamey Johnson will launch his 36-city headlining tour, The Last Honky Tonk Tour, on June 4 at Wichita Riverfest in Wichita, KS. Tickets are on sale now and more dates will be announced soon.

“The tour will be a lot of fun,” says Johnson. “It’s a chance for us to hang out every night, where we get to walk onstage and show off what we’ve learned over the past 20 years. This is my 20th year on the road, not counting the road gigs I did in the 10 years before that.”

The tour’s name comes from the song he recently recorded, which was the title track of the 2010 album by The Wayne Mills Band, featuring musician Jason “Rowdy” Cope on guitar. “I thought that the name sounded pretty good as a tour name – The Last Honky Tonk Tour,” he adds.

The tour title’s lyrics include, “I’ll be there when they burn the last honky tonk down/
In body, mind, and spirit, under the table, or under the ground/
The fading echoes of a barroom band might be the only sound/
I’ll be there when they burn the last honky tonk down.”

Johnson’s new recording – which was completed with producer Buddy Cannon a few weeks ago – and the tour name are in tribute to Mills and Cope, both of whom were his dear friends. Mills was murdered at a Nashville bar in 2013. Jason “Rowdy” Cope, a member of The Steel Woods who had previously been a member of Johnson’s band, died in 2021 from complications from diabetes.

“When Wayne and Rowdy got together and did that record, that song made it on my radar,” he says. “Back then, I played that song several times with Wayne. We would do it at shows. So, it is one I haven’t done in a while.

“And now Wayne’s son, Jack, is a badass guitar player. He says he learned it all from Rowdy. I don’t doubt that at all. Jack really is something else!

“I thought, ‘Man, his dad would be proud. Let’s break that song out and get Jack to play guitar on it.’ I am proud to have him playing on it.”

This is one of more than 50 new songs Johnson has recorded since releasing Midnight Gasoline, his first new solo album in 14 years, in late 2024. He will preview some of the new songs during this tour and begin releasing them later this year.

“We are going to do some of the new stuff,” Johnson adds. “We will do some of the songs from Midnight Gasoline from last year and all the years before. Whatever album you like, we will do some of those songs.

“It’s exciting to play the new songs,” he says. “I like it when people tell me they have heard the new stuff and they like it. I like it when people have something else to listen to. Sometimes it’s as simple as that.”

About Jamey Johnson:
The 10-time GRAMMY nominee has been called “one of the greatest country singers of our time,” by The Washington Post. His music has garnered international acclaim and is embraced by fans of classic and contemporary country, as well as Americana and mainstream rock.

The Grand Ole Opry member is also widely regarded as one of the greatest country songwriters of his generation. He is one of only two people in the history of country music (along with Kris Kristofferson) to win two Song of the Year awards in the same year – for “Give It Away” and “In Color” – from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association.

A consummate storyteller, his songs have been recorded by George Strait, Trace Adkins, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, James Otto, Joe Nichols and others. He is “a first-rate preservationist of classic country songwriting,” says The New York Times.

His 2024 album, Midnight Gasoline is a musical continuation of his last two solo studio albums, That Lonesome Song, which was certified double platinum for 2 million in sales, and the gold-certified 2010 album, The Guitar Song, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Album Chart. Rolling Stone and SPIN named The Guitar Song to their all-genre Top 5 Best Albums of the Year. (He also released a 2012 duets project, the GRAMMY-nominated Living for a Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran.)

“In Color” has received a 5X-Platinum certification for sales/streams of five million, and “High Cost of Living” was certified platinum. “Between Jennings and Jones” and “That Lonesome Song” have been certified gold for sales/streams of 500,000.

LAINEY WILSON’S NEW SINGLE “SOMEWHERE OVER LAREDO” IS MOST ADDED AT COUNTRY RADIO THIS WEEK

16x ACM, 9x CMA and Grammy Award-winning artist Lainey Wilson’s new single, “Somewhere Over Laredo,” is the most added song at country radio this week with 129 adds. Furthering its success, the track garnered over 1.16 million streams across platforms in the first 24 hours of its release, earning Wilson her biggest first day of streaming to date.

The song is from the new deluxe version of Wilson’s award-winning album, Whirlwind, which will be released August 22 via BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville in celebration of the record’s one-year anniversary (pre-order/pre-save/pre-add here). In addition to Whirlwind’s original 14 songs, the extended edition will feature five additional tracks: “Somewhere Over Laredo,” “Bell Bottoms Up,” “King Ranch, King George, King James,” “Yesterday, All Day, Every Day” and “Peace, Love and Cowboys.”

Already receiving widespread attention, Wilson performed “Somewhere Over Laredo” live for the first time at the 2025 American Music Awards earlier this week and appeared on CBS Mornings to discuss the new track, while Billboard praised, “one of her most commanding, dynamic vocal performances to date, crescendo-ing from a soft-focus, tender vocal, before gradually reaching into her upper register for powerful moments that heighten the song’s emotional acuity.”

Written by Wilson, Trannie Anderson, Dallas Wilson and Andy Albert, the track honors the timeless classic “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” while showcasing Wilson’s poignant storytelling and authentic country sound, as she reflects on past love and pays tribute to small towns across the country.

The release adds to yet another triumphant year for Wilson, who won four awards at the 60th Annual ACM Awards earlier this month: Entertainer of the Year (her second consecutive win), Female Artist of the Year (her third consecutive win), Album of the Year (Whirlwind) and Artist-Songwriter of the Year. During the awards ceremony, she also debuted a new song, “Trailblazer,” with Reba McEntire and Miranda Lambert, which she wrote with Lambert and Brandy Clark.

Additionally, Wilson is in the midst of her nearly sold-out Whirlwind World Tour, which includes stops at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Los Angeles’ Kia Forum, Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Austin’s Moody Center and Denver’s Ball Arena among many others. The upcoming dates follow the tour’s first leg—a completely sold-out extensive run across the U.K and Europe earlier this year. See below for the complete tour itinerary, full details can be found at www.laineywilson.com/tour.

Produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Jay Joyce (Miranda Lambert, Eric Church), Whirlwind was released to overwhelming critical attention last summer with The Tennessean calling it “the best release of her career,” while NPR Music praised, “She’s becoming a major headlining country star, and this album feels like it’s cementing that position” and Rolling Stone declared, “her music has a blend of brawn, heart, and willingness to upend the status quo that’s not only listenable, but also the kind of thing you can’t help but root for.”

In just the past year, Wilson was also inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, performed during the Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Halftime Show, won Best Country Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards and two awards at the 58th CMA Awards, where she also made her hosting debut alongside Peyton Manning and Luke Bryan. Wilson also received two awards at this year’s ACM Honors: the prestigious Triple Crown Award—presented to those who have won ACM Entertainer of the Year, Female/Male Vocalist of the Year and New Female/Male Vocalist of the Year—and the Milestone Award, which is given to an artist who has had an unprecedented or outstanding year in country music.

A prolific and sought-after songwriter, Wilson has scored eight #1 hits including “4x4xU,” “Watermelon Moonshine” and the 2x Platinum Certified “Heart Like A Truck,” and has collaborated with artists such as Post Malone (“Nosedive”), Cole Swindell (“Never Say Never”), Jelly Roll (“Save Me”), HARDY (“wait in the truck”) and Myles Smith (“Nice To Meet You”). She is also a triple threat within entertainment as a singer, songwriter and actor and will make her feature film acting debut in next year’s adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Reminders of Him, after first acting in Paramount’s hit television series, Yellowstone. Moreover, Wilson wrote and recorded “Out of Oklahoma,” which was featured in the new Twisters movie.

Morgan Wallen Claims No. 1 Spot on Billboard 200 and Hot 100

With Billboard calling him “one of the biggest stars in the music world right now” and The New Yorker adding “[he’s] popular on a scale that seems to circumvent genre entirely” on the heels of his fourth studio album release, Morgan Wallen’s I’m The Problem further solidifies his standing, debuting today at No. 1 globally across seven countries.

In the U.S., Wallen broke his own record for most simultaneous entries in Billboard Hot 100 history, with all 37 songs off the album charting. He also currently occupies the No. 1, 2 and 3 slots simultaneously with his duet with Tate McRae “What I Want,” “Just In Case,” and the title track “I’m The Problem,” respectively – becoming the first country artist ever to do so.

I’m The Problem became Wallen’s first No. 1 debut on the U.K.’s Official Charts, as Wallen joins a small group of elite artists including Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, Post Malone and Beyonce as the only artists in U.K. chart history to debut No. 1 with a country album. The feat is especially notable as One Thing At A Time previously marked Wallen’s highest debut on the chart at No. 40.

“The massive growth that we’ve seen in the UK is truly something special,” Wallen shared with Official Charts. “One Thing At A Time debuted at #40 and I’m The Problem is debuting at #1 only two years apart. I am so grateful and humbled my music is connecting in a place where we have spent time and worked to build a real and meaningful relationship with our fans there. Thank you guys so much.”

I’m The Problem additionally debuted at No. 1 across five other countries – including New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Norway and Scotland – and became Wallen’s third album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with the largest streaming week for any album in 2025 so far in both the U.S. and Canada.

Wallen’s preceding albums – Dangerous: The Double Album and One Thing At A Time – have resided in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart for more than 100 weeks each, making him the first artist ever to achieve that feat.

Dubbed a “self-examining storytelling extravaganza” by Billboard, I’m The Problem features 37 tracks, and combines Wallen’s country, cross and dirt-rock influences, underscored by collaborations with pop superstars Post Malone and Tate McRae, plus close friends Eric Church, ERNEST and HARDY. The fusion of influences left Grammy.com lauding, “[Wallen] remains as eclectic as ever, shifting easily from R&B-inflected slow jams to rough-and-ready outlaw country stomps.”

The album opens with the title track, “I’m The Problem,” a cutting double-edged confession that reveals the complexities of a relationship at its lowest point. It concludes with “I’m A Little Crazy,” a quiet, self-reflective song that looks inward while examining the world outside. As with Wallen’s other albums, his eclectic taste in music creeps into his songs. But with this album, he’s really honed his ability to integrate those influences, drawing on guitar sounds of Indie bands like The War On Drugs, country greats like Keith Whitley and hip-hop drum tracks. Between all of that, Wallen also reaches listeners on a granular level.

While Wallen co-wrote 22 of the tracks, he tapped into 49 songwriters, curating a tracklist that’s both deeply personal and resonant, viewing life events through a different lens than he’s used in the past. Hits Daily Double observes that the result is “a 37-song cycle of self-reckoning,” adding, “he doesn’t sugarcoat or make excuses.”

Wallen recently debuted seven of the album’s songs at his inaugural, self-curated and multi-genre Sand In My Boots Festival, including the title track “I’m The Problem;” the Grammy.com-praised “deceptively smooth-sounding” “Kick Myself;” “Don’t We,” declared an “arena-ready track” by Billboard“I’m A Little Crazy,” noted as “a gorgeous paranoiac ballad” by Washington Post“I Got Better;” “Superman” and “Just In Case.”

Coupled with May’s Sand In My Boots Festival and a special one-night-only album release celebration show on May 28 at Roundhouse in London, these 22 shows are the only place to see the superstar in 2025.

As Wallen prepares a refreshed setlist for his 20-stadium-show I’m the Problem Tour, kicking off on June 20 in Houston, Texas, he also highlighted some of his favorite artists by bringing the personally-curated, multi-genre Sand In My Boots Music Festival to Gulf Shores, Alabama in May, which sold out in less than two hours.

Wallen continues to donate a portion of every ticket sold to his Morgan Wallen Foundation — which supports youth music and athletic programs and gives communities access to essentials in times of crisis. More at MorganWallen.com.

Hiroe Unveil Video for "Collider" From Album "Wield" Out 6/10

Hiroe, the new darlings of the American post-rock underground, have revealed their latest single "Collider," taken from their forthcoming debut album, Wield, out June 20 via Pelagic Records.

Watch the "Collider" video below.

Pre-order Wield here.

"Collider" is a 10-minute epic, presenting listeners with a sonic journey into the heart of modern existence, reflecting life's often opposing and overwhelming demands. Its elaborate structure provides the band with an opportunity to showcase diverse instrumentation, from the resonant standing bass and the delicate chime of a glockenspiel to captivating guitar tapping sections that crescendo into a powerful three-part harmony. Embodying a musical representation of the contradictory elements in balancing life's competing priorities, it evokes the moment when all facets of life come to a head, resulting in a profound convergence, just as its title, "Collider," implies.

Hiroe guitarist Eric Kusanagi comments, "'Collider' is a song that when we play live seems to be a crowd favorite. It's the longest song in our catalogue, at about 10 minutes long, and we wanted to take the listener on a journey that goes through a lot of peaks and valleys."

The single is another glimpse of the forthcoming album Wield, showcasing the Philadelphia-based quintet mastering their craft, of creating compelling melodies that sound larger than life.

2022 saw Hiroe burst onto the scene with an explosive debut EP full of soaring anthems and sublime soundscapes. Combining the sonic expansiveness of Deftones with the dynamic heaviness of bands like Isis and Caspian, Hiroe immediately already figured out how to make the most majestic sounding post-rock early in their career.

"Our first release, Wrought, was a statement of creation," explains principal songwriter and guitarist Kusanagi.

For the recording of WieldJill Paslier moved from bass to guitars, with Brian Kong (guitars), Jon Seiler (bass), and Dan Sagherian (drums) joining to complete the lineup. Produced once more by Mario Quintero (Spotlights), Wield capitalizes on everything the band learned in the creation of its predecessor, adding to it a new focus on textural intricacies and compositional detail.

"We wanted to show a larger range of musical themes on this record," continues Kusanagi. "You'll hear us dive into some synth work, some piano work, some really interesting effects that Mario helped us dial up."

As a result, Wield packs in a huge range of details, which reveal themselves over repeated listens.

Nevertheless, Wield is still an affair of instant gratification for fans of guitar driven post-rock. From the soaring leads of "Tides" to the epic finale of "I've Been Waiting For You All My Life," Hiroe show they've upped their game in every department, but especially that which tugs at your heartstrings.

Wield presents the brave new future we all need in these confusing times. A new American frontier on which we can build our wildest dreams and our most daring ambitions.
